Have you sought mental health resources/care in the United States in the past five years? If so, please take 8-12 minutes to fill out a survey for my academic research project. Your responses are completely confidential and will help inform my research project, the end goal of which is to design a digital product that will address disparities in and barriers to access to mental health resources in the U.S.

Companies nowadays are getting SO comfortable asking for our social security numbers.
Like why tf does Optimum need my social to install wifi? They're just an internet provider, they don't need my social. I don't care that the last people living at my location didn't pay their bill, there are a dozen other ways to prove that I'm not them without me handing over my social.
Anyway, hot tip, legally you can refuse to give your social security in unnecessary cases like this. If a company needs to prove that you are who you say you are, they have alternative ways to do so.

Please pray that a complicated billing situation will be sorted out and covered by my insurance. It's for an ambulance ride I had in June for a panic attack. Some of you might remember me panicking about it a few months ago when I got the statement.
#it's a giant bill and my mom's insurance which is my primary only covered a tiny portion of it#and the ambulance service tried only once to contact my secondary insurance and they never even got it#so they never covered anything#but they were never contacted#so then i made them contact each other when it was made apparent that otherwise i would owe $2020.#yes two thousand and twenty dollars#and then i was waiting for them to deal with it#and today i just received another statement still showing that they never contacted that insurance and that i owe them the money by the 30th#so i panicked a little bit#then called the insurance and they said they had just recieved the claim on the first#so then i called the ambulance service and told them so and asked if the due date of the 30th was still in place#and she said no it's on hold and the insurance lady said most likely some of it would be covered#so hopefully it will go down drastically#and man this whole situation is like.... why did i have to do all the contacting back and forth#i thought that was y'all's job#but whatever#so now i am waiting again :)#fully aware that i may still owe a large chunk of that#but it's okay bc i am starting a new job and all will be well :)))))))#right???????#all will be well??????#and it was a dang panic attack that started all this#so i feel somewhat like this is all my fault#if i had never taken that thc gummy and greened out so bad and worked myself up none of this would be happening :)#but that's not healthy for me to think#it's in the past and i truly thought i needed to go in so in that moment i was doing what i thought i needed to do to take care of myself#i should be proud of myself for that#i just wish healthcare was different in this country

Damn the fine print.
I think I’m going to cancel her MRI appointment. As much as I would like to get answers, I can’t run the risk with how our pet insurance is set up.
1. There is an exception for intervertebral disc “conditions” (Not just IVDD. They could mean any number of problems) It’s not covered if it occurred at any point prior to starting the insurance. Unfortunately, the nature of those conditions means they can argue it is almost always preexisting.
2. If she’s deemed “healthy” by the MRI then we might fall into another trap which says testing done on healthy dogs isn’t covered.
3. The way this (and most other) pet insurance works is if a claim is denied then any future claims connected to it are also denied. I was going into this hopeful that the back pain has already been approved so the MRI should be included in that BUT if we get the MRI results and the claim is denied then all things back-related and potentially even things like future arthritis, etc will forever be denied (they like to say things are “side effects” of the denied condition)
So as of now she has been checked by a Neurologist & Orthopedic Surgeon and they both agree she is fine. The Neurologist would like to rule out things that could be causing back pain but Librela is managing her pain so well and costs $100-$200/month. I can’t risk the MRI being denied AND ruining our ability to manage pain & future issues.

.....................i just found out that none of the payments i've been making for my therapy appointments have been going to my deductible
awesome
love that
#i know i should have checked on this sooner but it's just been hard to get around to#and now i'm just confused like...where have all those payments been going then?#how are claims supposedly being filed and yet...my insurance doesn't have any?#whose insurance is it going to then?#sucks because i've been paying in cash too and don't have any bills of service#so there's literally nothing i have to show on my end that i've been doing my part#i just...am i being scammed?#i hope to god not because i really like my therapist but like...this sucks#i know her accountant had some family issues and was out for a while#which is also why i wanted to give her a minute to get caught up#but like...at this point what the hell#like i should probably be halfway through or at least have put a dent in my deductible#and once i meet that everything's covered 100% which would help me out a lot but like#i have a bad feeling we'll get this sorted out and the solution will be i just have to start over again#i hope to god not#or i may just have to stop going to therapy because this....sucks#also as an aside i've been super depressed lately and thought i'd cheer myself up by dyeing my hair and it....#looks like absolute shit#i tried to just lighten it with powder and developer and all that instead of bleach because i thought it would be easier#and now it just looks awful and feels awful and i'm still probably going to have to bleach it anyway#awesome!#love that#love this situation#love being alive#love it all so much
