The couple of things you reblogged about tech-illiteracy in younger generations reminded me that when I started the college program I'm in our very first assignment was to screen record ourselves doing an internet speedtest, then taking a screenshot of the results and placing that screenshot in a folder on our desktop and zipping it up, and then uploading that video and sending the link as the only part of the assignment because newer students just didn't know how to even save files to locations
jeez. my college hasn't made me do anything like that, though in my Spanish class my teacher asked if anyone had a desktop computer and i was the only one to raise my hand.
Society can we stop moving away from desktop computers. they're so much better than portable devices in everything except portability. way more upgradable. oh you broke your tablet screen? time to send the whole thing away to get it fixed/get a whole new device. oh you broke your computer monitor? its fine just replace the monitor. oh you need a bit more ram in your laptop? guess you gotta get a whole new laptop. you need more ram in your pc? sure just pop new ram in.
i mean i get we're college students in dorms but like. not even at home? come onnnn
sorry for "old man yells at cloud"ing about something you weren't even talking about its just been plaguing my brain
#og post#tiredcool#ask#sorry if i've said any of this already my brain is mush#stupid college giving us all ipads. i mean i was excited bc i haven't owned a tablet before. and wanted to play project sekai#on a bigger screen#but still. about the principle
