HOUSE ARENDEL
Tumblr media
Founded by Reinaart, grandson of King Hendriks III de Geil van Tijrslant through one of his many bastard children: a daughter, Imelda van Raafheem. During the second invasion by the neighbouring nation, the Deutsch Empire, Reinaart was instrumental in halting the advancing army in the boarder county of Valjâer. With tactics decried by the enemy as "without honour," Reinaart held Valjâer until reinforcements could arrive, showcasing bravery and intelligence in equal measure. As reward, Reinaart was titled Markgraaf van Valjâer (that is Marquess of Valjâer), establishing his noble house in the process.
House Arendel is named for the Morning Star which Reinaart oft used as signal for raids against the invasion forces during the war. Their banner features a gold wolf on a red field below a white Mjolnir centred within a star.. Their words are: Ljós ok Trú. Light and Faith.
Since House Arendel was founded, it has become the greatest ally of the Tijrslant royal family, a power within its own right, and a vanguard against aggression from the northern Deutschlanders. The current head of House Arendel holds the title of Hertog van der Valjâer (that is, Duke of the Valjeer).
DUSTEEN KAISER ARENDEL DE AANVOEDER, Hertog van der Valjâer, former knight of the Order of the Manticore. Earth mage; direwolf famliliar.
— his wife, KARINA "KARIN" DÈSIRÈE VAN MAILLART DE STORMDIUVALIN, Hertogin van der Valjâer, former knight of the Order of the Manticore. Wind mage; manticore familiar.
— his children:
— ÈLÈONORE ALBERTINA ARENDEL DE BOUWMEVROUW, Chief Engineer of Earth Magic at the Tijrslant Institute of Arcane Research, formerly engaged to Count van Burgund. Earth mage; tiger familiar. Aged twenty-five.
— CATTLEYA YVETTE ARENDEL, Vrouw van der Fraaibrontje, bedridden with an unknown affliction. Earth mage; stag familiar. Aged twenty-two.
— LOUISE FRANCISKA ARENDEL DE NUL, third year student of the Alviss Institute of Tijrslant, nicknamed "Denulotta" by classmates, betrothed to Burggraaf Vaarijs-Holtaas van Waerden. Affinity unknown. Aged fourteen.
— his household, abridged:
— HEILNAAM VAN VALJÂER, Seneschal of the Valjâer manor.
— KARLOTTA VAN MAILLART, Court Priestess of House Arendel, mistress of the library, former tutor of Dusteen's children, older sister of Karina. Water mage; swan familiar.
— LODEWIJK VAN WAERDEN, Marshall of the Valjâer manor.
— DAPHNE, vampire, sister of Amethyst, adopted into the Arendel family, aunt and former tutor to Dusteen's children.
— AMETHYST, vampire, sister of Daphne, adopted into the Arendel family, aunt and former tutor to Dusteen's children.
The lords in service to Hertog Dusteen Arendel van der Valjâer are the Graaf van Guldre, and the markgraafs van Luik, van Raafheem, and van Waerden.

The Cartmel Masterplan
The Actual Text, Posted Online for the First Time
A generous friend has shared with me the full text of “Gallifrey: Notes on the Planet's Background” – Andrew Cartmel, Ben Aaronovitch, and Marc Platt’s original outline of their masterplan for the Doctor’s origins – as printed in Virgin Books’ 1996 Doctor Who: A History of the Universe. Please see also Lance Parkin’s explanatory footnote and my commentary beneath!
The planet Gallifrey, world of the Time Lords in the constellation of Kasterborous, is one of the oldest and most powerful oligarchies in the universe. Its political and scientific influence is prevalent throughout the cosmos. But it is a world apart. Its power is substantially used for observation rather than involvement. Over the millennia, its self-imposed isolation has made it a staid and decaying society, obsessed with its own self-importance and tradition. It was not always so…
Ancient Gallifrey in The Old Time or The Dark Time, the Time of Chaos, was a world of both questing endeavour and dark superstition. It was the heart of a space-faring Empire, the hub of trade and commerce between other worlds. But the Gallifreyans were a race cursed with communal telepathy. The majority of the populous shared each others’ minds and thoughts. No mind was alone. The superstitious people worshipped the Menti Celesti – literally, heavenly minds – who were the free-thinking Gods.
By training or natural ability, some Gallifreyans could achieve private thoughts: an individuality above the mass mind of the general populous. They became revered Heroes: great philosophers, scientists and explorers, much in the style of the Greek Heroes, renowned for their deeds and derring-do.
Ancient Gallifrey was governed by the line of Pythias, wise seer women, who saw the future. The Empire prospered under their rule, but for all its enlightened education and scientific advancement, their reign also encompassed barbarism.
Amongst the ideas and goods traded through the Empire, there were also slaves. A primitive Time Scoop was employed to import alien servants and gladiators for the Games enacted in the Death Zone. Such popular “entertainment” provided an outlet for the extremes of emotion that telepathic crowd behaviour could engender. Thus through a skilful mix of manipulation and superstition, the ruling Pythia was able to control Gallifrey and its Empire.
Rassilon, a high ranking Hero, saw that the stifling authority of the Pythias threatened Gallifrey’s true destiny as a supreme galactic power. He stood for the influence of Reason against the Pythian reign of superstition. His skills as a tactician had defeated an invasion of Vampires that threatened the whole galaxy. He knew that Gallifrey could not progress until the aimless telepathic abilities of the people were given purpose. With a group of supporters, he deposed the Pythia and set about the restructuring of all Gallifreyan society. This period of cultural renaissance became known as the Intuitive Revelation.
The followers of the Pythia fled to Karn and set up a quasi-religious cult as guardians of a flame fountain that distilled an Elixir of eternal life.
Rassilon undertook to reform Gallifreyan society and thus consolidate the planet’s supremacy. Aware of the corrupting influence of absolute power, he repeatedly rejected the offers of a coronation, announcing that he could not rule the planet alone.
The suicidal end of the line of the Pythias had one immediate and deadly effect on Gallifrey. The Pythia embodied the fertility of the planet, she was Gallifrey itself. As she took her own life, the last of the line cursed the planet in revenge for her overthrow. Gallifrey became a sterile world. There were no more children. Unborn babies died in their mothers’ wombs. Rassilon was forced to find an immediate answer, before the Gallifreyans became extinct.
Eager to hold Gallifrey to ransom, the Sisterhood of Kam offered the salvation of their elixir. But in the face of disaster, Rassilon was able to forge a fresh solution.
From the existing hierarchy of Gallifrey, a new social design was evolved. Power was shared through a High Council whose members represented the Chapterhouses of Gallifrey. Each Chapter comprised groups of the ancient Families of Gallifrey, of whom Rassilon saw the need for legislative control to stabilise dwindling population numbers.
It was decreed that each Family would have a genetic bank known as a Loom, from which a set quota of Family members would be generated. Bio-genetic engineering would allow the Gallifreyans to regenerate their bodies at the moment of death through a sequence of thirteen lives. At the end of the final life, when a Family member died, a new replacement member was generated on the Family Loom. Parents have not existed on Gallifrey since this time; all family members are Cousins to one another. (This makes the business of Susan being the Doctor’s granddaughter all the more intriguing…)
The Looms were installed in all Family Houses across Gallifrey. Each House was adapted as bio-architecture, programmed to serve and look after its incumbent family. These were living buildings invested with a low degree of sentient awareness, even encompassed in their furniture and fittings.
Families were headed by the most senior Cousin. One other was selected as a Housekeeper, an interactive medium between the Cousins and the living House itself. The House would become as much a part of a Family as its Loom or its Cousins; occasionally with frighteningly possessive results!
The Chapters had their own Academies whose leaders were appointed as Cardinals to serve on the High Council in the newly constructed Vatican-like Capitol. The “Civil Service” members supporting the Council were known as Ordinals. Below them came the plebeian classes, trained as skilled technicians and artisans.
As a symbol of power, Rassilon had the Matrix developed: a vast extra-dimensional panotropic computer net containing all the information amassed by Gallifreyan culture. It stored all research and postulation, and the mind of every dying Gallifreyan passed into its capacity. Thus it could predict the future and give judgement on the past. As such, the Matrix is Gallifrey, the essence of that planet and its culture. In many ways, the Matrix replaced the Pythia, if not in wilful delegation, at least as a living repository of all knowledge.
To achieve his reforms, Rassilon needed vast resources of energy. He found an ally in Omega, the chief of the scientific fraternity and also a Cousin of Rassilon. But while Rassilon was the practical strategist laying foundations for a new society, and Omega was the provider, there was a third, darker figure; an “Eminence Grise”, with whom power was shared in an inner sanctum before plans were laid for the judgement of the High Council.
His origins, birthplace, even appearance are an unrecorded mystery. He never served on the High Council. Some legends hint that he may not have been born on Gallifrey, others that he was endowed with powers far greater than either Rassilon or Omega, but he kept these veiled beneath the Gallifreyan shape he wore. How influential his role really was is uncertain. His presence as part of the Triumvirate has always been overshadowed by the myriad achievements of Rassilon and the martyrdom of Omega; he was known simply as “the Other”. Nevertheless, a minor festival known as Otherstide is annually celebrated in his honour.
Under the rule of the Pythia, experiments had started into time travel. Rassilon deemed their use of telepathy as a travel source to be dangerous, but still rationalised their basic concepts for his own experiments.
To develop time travel as a completely viable facility, Omega estimated that a preliminary energy source equal to a supernova was required. He developed a remote stellar manipulator device which would induce the controlled detonation of a star and channel the energy released back to Gallifrey. This device was known as the “Hand of Omega”.
The device succeeded in its task and Gallifrey acquired the energy source it needed, but Omega, who had gone to oversee the project himself, was lost in the supernova explosion. His sacrifice offered unlimited power to the Gallifreyans. They truly became Time Lords.
In their early days as Time Lords, the catastrophic destruction of the planet Minyos, whose inhabitants sought to emulate their “gods” the Gallifreyans, emphasised the need for radical change in Gallifrey’s role in galactic politics.
After Omega’s death, the remaining two-thirds of the Triumvirate set about consolidating Gallifrey’s position. Two courses were open to the Time Lords: to control the universe as supreme rulers; or to act as guardians, overseeing the natural development of time and space. Either way their own position had to be unassailable. Gallifrey itself had to be protected.
In an astonishing feat of engineering, Rassilon entered the black hole left by Omega’s supernova and sealed its vast singularity energy in an icon of power known as the “Eye of Harmony”. He brought the Eye back to Gallifrey and so balanced the existence of the planet against the colossal energy source of the black star. Gallifrey was now unassailable.
Ironically, the stabilising influence of the Eye of Harmony has surely affected Time Lord society as well. Over millennia, development has steadily ground slower and slower; Gallifreyan culture has become less adventurous, and more complacently staid. The people’s telepathic abilities have also dwindled. Rassilon’s legacy and laws still guide the Time Lords, but the meanings of many of his icons of power are now lost. (The line of Pythias also survives, not only on Karn, but in other offshoot manifestations – witness Lady Peinforte.)
Another product of the Intuitive Revelation was validium, a living metal, created as an ultimate defence for Gallifrey. The metal could think for itself, but in the wrong hands might act as a generator of destruction. It eventually proved itself too dangerous to be employed. Too many enemy forces were gaining access to the element and so the largest section was secreted away from Gallifrey in an asteroid where, it was hoped, it would be safe from interference.
While both Rassilon and Omega were virtually canonised, if not deified, there were no further records of the Other in any of the histories. Speculation says that he left Gallifrey altogether; legend says that he grew weary of being an all-powerful player at the chess game of the universe. Instead he longed to be a pawn on the board in the thick of the action. Common sense says that he retired quietly.
Footnote
This is virtually the whole of the text of a document ‘Gallifrey – Notes on the Planet’s Background (from ideas prepared for the Doctor Who TV series)’ by Andrew Cartmel, Ben Aaronovitch and Marc Platt. The document was written for Virgin, is dated 9.11.90, and comes to six and a half sides of A4 paper, including the coversheet. It outlines what fans have called ‘The Cartmel Master Plan’ – an attempt during the twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth series on television to redefine the origins of the Doctor and that of the planet Gallifrey, to reintroduce mystery to the series’ basic set-up, and to suggest that much of what we had been told about the Time Lords and the Doctor had been deliberately fabricated (as such, it doesn’t answer all the questions it raises). On-screen the ‘Master Plan’ was mainly confined to a handful of obscure references (and a handful more that were cut before broadcast).
The document embraces concepts from The Deadly Assassin, Silver Nemesis, The Five Doctors, State of Decay, The Brain of Morbius, The Invasion of Time, Arc to Infinity, Trial of a Time Lord, Remembrance of the Daleks (and Ben Aaronovitch’s novelisation of his story), The Three Doctors, Underworld, The Time Monster and Planet of the Spiders, as well as two unmade Marc Platt stories, Cat’s Cradle and Lungbarrow. A number of the New Adventures have adopted ideas from the document, including the first two novels by Platt and Aaronovitch, Cat’s Cradle: Time’s Crucible and Transit.
The last half-page of the document outlines the Doctor’s link to his planet’s ancient history and explains the origins of his granddaughter, Susan. It must remain a secret – for the moment at least. Anyone speculating about the contents of this last page ought to bear in mind that the Virgin Writers’ Guide categorically states that ‘The Other is not the Doctor’.
Commentary
With the exception of my italicized note at the top, everything above came from Doctor Who: A History of the Universe, and everything below is written by me, the blogger. Thank you again to my brilliant and talented friend – the Other to my Rassilon – who shared with me the pictures of the above!
A few thoughts based on the above:
As Parkin’s footnote points out, A History omits the last half-page of the original text, which explained Susan’s origin and the Other’s reincarnation into the Doctor. Since A History was released in May 1996, almost a full year before Lungbarrow gave these answers, it makes sense that this part was redacted. But if the details of the First Doctor’s rescue of Susan were written as early as 1990 and known to Virgin’s authors from the start of the New Adventures, how did we end up with the conflicting description of her rescue in Cold Fusion?
Much of this content clearly ended up in Cat’s Cradle: Time’s Crucible, as Parkin’s footnote mentions: the Gallifreyan Heroes, the Pythia, her suicide and curse, etc. (Presumably Lungbarrow just as faithfully adapts the material from the omitted half-page.) But I’m not particularly clear what Transit has to do with it! Was this just Virgin Books plugging their own content, or did I miss something major?
Just as in Time’s Crucible, the authors follow the explanation of Looms by explicitly pointing out the apparent contradiction with Susan calling the Doctor “Grandfather”. Hopefully this will finally kill the longstanding rumor that Looms are bad because they contradict An Unearthly Child: the creators knew exactly what they were doing.
I was clearly incorrect the other day to assert that “no source has actually linked Omega’s star with the Eye of Harmony”! Not only is this explicit in the Masterplan, it’s also mentioned in The Infinity Doctors. Mea culpa!
The Eye of Harmony’s “stabilising influence” being the cause of Gallifreyan societal stagnation was never explicitly explored or stated anywhere in the Doctor Who stories that followed, but it did manifest through the concept of the Anchoring of the Thread in the Faction Paradox series. The Book of the War didn’t merely copy Platt’s “Great Houses” language, it fulfilled parts of the Masterplan that other authors had neglected.
I knew that Quences identified his title as “Ordinal-General” in Lungbarrow, but I’d never caught the Cardinal / Ordinal pun. Too good!
Similarly: I am increasingly uncomfortable with the fact that “Celestis” is clearly a plural noun for “Celesti”, which means I’ll have to rethink all of my grammar 😟
Please let me know your thoughts!

Fireworks broke and rained hot glitter over the southern border of Center City and Goldgrave. A handful of bartenders were off duty and on the move.
Khlee von Heine walked among them. She was the only one who hadn’t taken the time to change out of her work clothes. Her coworkers were loud, merry, and prone to recklessness as they stumbled from one pop-up bar crawl to the next.
“Another year,” Gabe managed to roar over the next round of fireworks. “Can you believe we fucking did it?” He took a deep swig from the communal growler. The night was far from young and the barhands had lost track over how many times they refilled it. Gabe reluctantly handed it off to the next coworker so they could say their piece.
Khlee hung back in order to stand under a wooden arch whose sign was eclipsed in dead vines. But Khleo had committed its message to memory years ago.
Der Biergarten.
The plot of land overgrown in weeds and other invasive species was still up for sale, to Khleo’s relief. Though it was out of the way on most of her delivery routes, Khleo did her best to stop by every now and then. Just to make sure no one had bought up the property.
The barhand checked to see that her coworkers were distracted as she stepped up and snatched a flyer with the lot info off the gate. She folded it up and quickly tucked it in her pocket before the arm of a good friend looped around her neck.
Basil leaned on Khleo as he pressed the convex surface of the growler against her sternum.
“Your turn.”
Khleo playfully shoved him off of her, but kept the growler. She took a sip. Basil and the other barhands chided her — she was supposed to make a toast.
“Fine. Fine.” Khleo held up the bottle. “To progress.”
They made a show of peering into the depths of the amber glass. “Maybe this year we’ll get lucky and actually make some, yeah?”
Someone snatched the growler out of their hand. Gwendolyn? Max? The streets were too dark to tell.
Khleo’s friends were off. They blended in with the city’s bar crawlers as they chased down the next booze cart. People wanted refills that night, not whatever Khleo was about to say next.
Later when Khleo had returned to her apartment, she traded her work clothes for something softer and more comfortable. Then she dug through the pocket of her discarded jacket and retrieved the folded up flyer.
It was a short walk from her kitchen to the bedroom. There was no bed frame or vanity, just three lumpy mattresses stacked on top of each other that she rescued from the alley when she first moved in.
The room was already small, but it felt even more congested thanks to the uneven piles of text, of which there two types — loose leaf recipes or pages ripped out of cookbooks and cheap serial novels with depictions of bejeweled dragons on the covers.
The only piece of real furniture around was an antique dresser, the drawers of which were broken and jutting out like crooked teeth.
All except one.
Khleo took a deep breath before crouching and using both hands to work the bottom drawer open. Like always, it did not come quietly, but with a little patience and a lot of swearing, Khleo managed to pull it out.
Most of the drawer’s contents belonged to her late adoptive father, Hans von Heine. However, it was an unmarked jar that Khleo reached for. She screwed it open and tucked the flyer for the piece of real estate between old flyers and newspaper clippings back when the garden used to host events. The jar had cash in it too. Whatever Khleo could spare went into the jar. Most of it came from what was left of her tips after paying rent, bills, and whoever she needed in order to keep certain people off her back and out of her business.
Khleo sealed the jar and did her best to ignore the tightness in her chest as she struggled to get the drawer to shut all the way. Once she had, she found that her breathing had become more than a little unsteady. It only got worse when she heard the fireworks going off outside.
Khleo shut their eyes and leaned their forehead against one of the crooked drawers, trying not to dwell too much on where they were this time last here. As it turned out, they were right here, drunk and crying at the foot of this very dresser.
Khleo curled up on their side. Yes, tonight their head was buzzing from the alcohol, somehow both heavy and light. Yes, the tears had found their way to the surface again. Khleo was never one to hold them in as long as they could find the space to spill them.
Things would be different this year, Khleo told themself. They would make sure of it this time.

(Lucio’s POV)
Lucio hated the smell of this place. Rotting and damp. It was hard to believe that they were still in Vesuvia.
“You always have such a sour expression on your face whenever I come to feed. Why so, my Count?”
The silky, sardonic voice belonged to Lucio’s host, Quaestor Valdemar.
“Don’t call me that,” Lucio snapped. He wanted to fold his arms and stifle some of the shivers running up his back, but he couldn’t as long as he was hooked up to Valdemar’s device.
“My apologies, Lucio,” Valdemar corrected themself coolly.
Another shiver climbed up Lucio’s neck as he bit back the urge to say, I don’t want to be called that either.
“Tell me, what plagues you?” They added with a chuckle. “Don’t you like your living arrangement?”
Ever since cutting a deal with the scientist turned demon, Lucio had been living out his days in the lowest cellar of the Lazaret. When he was first brought back from the Devil’s realm, he had been too weak to demand anything else. At the time, all he cared about was that he was alive and wouldn’t be devoured by the courtiers.
Lucio glanced at the tube looping around his forearm, its transparent pathways already inflated with his blood.
But at what cost?
Lucio grinded his teeth. It was too late to consider that now.
This was how it always went anyway. Lucio would be presented with an opportunity — a way to improve what he could not on his own. He would leap at it, no questions asked.
Why, after all this time, after all those treacherous dealings could he not bring himself to stop and think things through?
As the last of Valdemar’s toll left his body, Lucio started to wonder what his mother might say about all of this. But he’d rather eat another shitty bargain than go down that road right now.
“Your contribution to our arrangement hasn’t been as satisfying compared to when we first began.”
“What are you trying to say?” Despite his nasty tone, Lucio was grateful for the distraction. “My blood’s not tasty enough for you?”
“It used to be,” Valdemar said. “I’ll be honest with you, Lucio, I agreed to keep you around as an energy reserve primarily for that reason. The notion of devouring you in one sitting and having to share with my dear contemporaries was not nearly as attractive as the possibility of having your flesh to dine on whenever I needed to during this indefinite campaign in your current reality.”
Lucio hissed as Valdemar unceremoniously removed the needle from his vein. He wasn’t sure how to react to what he had just heard. Thanks to Valdemar’s mask, all Lucio could read from their expression was the growing crow’s feet at the corners of their blood red eyes.
“So?”
Valdemar applied a cotton wad to the puncture wound and dug it in with their thumb.
“Ow! Hey – Owie!” Lucio yelped.
“So, my Count,” they sweetly clarified as they kept up the pressure, “I need you to find a way to restore that vitality you once possessed. Technically, you’re in peak physical health. I don’t know if you’ve looked in the mirror lately, but the evidence of your tussle with the plague has all but disappeared from your eyes. Your hair has been growing…” they took a moment to scan their critical gaze over the pale blond patches clinging to Lucio’s jaw. “You could easily blend in with the citizens.”
Lucio swallowed. “B-blend in? Why the devil would I want to blend in?”
Valdemar made a less than human sound as they peeled back their mask and bared their needle-sharp teeth at the former Count.
“Right now you taste like a boneless, gutless, gill-infected inferior breed of mackerel. And I prefer to have rare, mercury-rich, vinegar-glazed bluefin tuna. Captivity is poisoning your blood. So I’m giving you permission to get out there in your beloved city and find a way to sweeten it.”
The Quaestor gave Lucio a not-so-gentle shove in his chair. They replaced their mask as they straightened up. The former Count’s eyes widened as he covered his hand over his arm. The last thing he wanted was to piss off Valdemar. But he didn’t know the first thing when it came to what they were asking him to do.
“What happens if I can’t, erm… make my blood taste better? What if spending time in the city doesn’t work?”
The Quaestor sighed, their emotions back in check. They were already half occupied with cleaning their instruments and storing the sacks of Lucio’s blood in a portable cooler for later.
“Then I will have no choice but to invite my courtier companions over for a nice potluck dinner.” They glanced up. The crow’s feet were back. “And you’ll be the forgettable appetizer that no one asked for.”
Later, when Valdemar was kind enough to row Lucio across the stretch of water to the mainland, they suggested, “You should find some people who are very healthy. Outside of captivity, fish are the most robust when they’re in competition with other capable anatomies.”
Lucio hugged what was left of his royal uniform – a tattered speckled cape – around his shoulders. He grumbled, “Would you, for fuck’s sake, stop comparing me to a fish, Quaestor?”
Unperturbed, Valdemar said, “We’ve arrived.”
Lucio lowered his hood and blinked out at the morning overcast sky. His top lip curled into a distinctive snarl as he recognized where they were.
“Not here. Anywhere but here.”
Valdemar gestured to the nearest dock. “Get out, Lucio.”
The former Count wanted to blot out the images of the slumped architecture and purge his nostrils of the stale watery stench.
“Not the Flooded District. I can’t stand this place. Can’t you see that it’s a failure that I don’t need reminding of?”
“Lucio, don’t be so foolish,” Valdemar said almost tenderly as they nudged him out of the boat. “The entire city is your failure. Much of which is hard to see. Oh, but it’s there. Now go on,” they said as if encouraging a child at the fairgrounds, “go find someone healthy. I’ll come to retrieve you in a fortnight’s time.”
Lucio couldn’t believe he was watching Valdemar row off into the mist. He tried to take a deep breath, but the air was so bad that he just ended up coughing.
Even though Valdemar had been correct about Lucio’s appearance, looking nothing like he did in the days when he was the Count, he still found himself trying to crowd off his features with his hood any time a resident passed him by on the floating, rickety streets. But to his relief, no one seemed to know or even care about who he was or might be.
As soon as Lucio relaxed his shoulders and began walking with more confidence, the inner walls of his stomach suddenly contracted. Then he remembered. He had just given blood. Lots of it. Usually, the Quaestor supplied him with something to eat, but this time they hadn’t.
“Damn them,” Lucio hissed. He cradled his abdomen like it was made of glass as he tried to make his way towards some kind of common plaza. He had no money, but perhaps he would be able to find a dumpster to rummage through.
He was passing by a narrow alley when he caught a glimpse of the impossible out of the corner of his eye.
A lion.
Its coat was creamy and short all over. Its size was nothing short of mythical.
Lucio was tempted to shout at the two idiots occupying the alley with this beast on the loose, but they seemed both aware of its presence and entirely calm about it.
One of them was slumped against the wall of the grimy building. Despite their threadbare attire and weary expression, they were smiling at the other.
“No, Khlee. Please don’t. You’ll be late for work.”
The person squatting before the first seemed to be focused on the task of sewing up what appeared to be rips in a heavy cloak. Even with their short jacket, Lucio could detect the shape of their arms. Their brown curls had enough volume to hide most of the details in their profile.
“Nah. I’m already late. This’ll only take a minute.”
There wasn’t much time to take in the rest of their features before the big cat stepped up, blocking Lucio’s view of them.
< Can I help you? >
Lucio ran. He nearly tripped over himself getting out of there so fast. But he didn’t go far. He gripped the edge of a building and poked his head out, waiting for the lioness and her human to emerge. When they finally did, Quaestor Valdemar’s words from earlier echoed in Lucio’s mind.
Go find someone healthy.
Well, the individual strolling confidently down the street with a full grown lion at their side was definitely looking like the healthy sort.
At the moment, Lucio wasn’t really thinking about what would happen to him if he failed Valdemar’s taste requirements.
Right now, his stomach was hurting.
If the body of this lion tamer was any indication, they knew where Lucio could find himself a meal.

Halloween

“Venez me chercher” a-t-il fanfaronné fin juillet.

Kurzkritiken Hammer-Filme
Frankensteins Fluch (1957)  aka The Curse of Frankenstein
Tumblr media
Frankensteins Rache (1958)  aka The Revenge of Frankenstein
Tumblr media
Frankensteins Ungeheuer (1964)  aka The Evil of Frankenstein
Tumblr media
Quasi ein Best-Of in Farbe. 6/10
Frankenstein schuf ein Weib (1967)  aka Frankenstein Created Woman
Tumblr media
Frankenstein muß sterben! (1969)  aka Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed
Tumblr media
Frankensteins Höllenmonster (1974)  aka Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell
Tumblr media
Dracula (1958)  aka Horror of Dracula
Tumblr media
Dracula und seine Bräute (1960)  aka The Brides of Dracula
Tumblr media
Blut für Dracula (1966)  aka Dracula: Prince of Darkness
Tumblr media
Draculas Rückkehr (1968)  aka Dracula Has Risen from the Grave
Tumblr media
Wie schmeckt das Blut von Dracula? (1970)  aka Taste the Blood of Dracula
Tumblr media
Dracula - Nächte des Entsetzens (1970)  aka Scars of Dracula
Tumblr media
Dracula jagt Mini-Mädchen (1972)  aka Dracula A.D. 1972
Tumblr media
Dracula braucht frisches Blut (1973)  aka The Satanic Rites of Dracula
Tumblr media
Direkte Fortsetzung zu A.D. 1972. 6/10
Schock (1955)  aka The Quatermass Xperiment aka The Creeping Unknown
Tumblr media
Feinde aus dem Nichts (1957)  aka Quatermass 2 aka Enemy From Space
Tumblr media
Absolute Perle der 50s Sci-Fi-B-Movies. "Borgt" sich zwar einige Motive von anderen Filmen (Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing from another World, etc.), übertrifft diese aber teilweise in Sachen Unterhaltungswert. Kleines Meisterwerk des Genres. 9/10
Yeti, der Schneemensch (1957)  aka The Abominable Snowman
Tumblr media
Der Hund von Baskerville (1959)  aka The Hound of the Baskervilles
Tumblr media
Die Rache der Pharaonen (1959)  aka The Mummy
Tumblr media
Der Fluch von Siniestro (1961)  aka The Curse of the Werewolf
Tumblr media
Herrscherin der Wüste (1965)  aka She
Tumblr media
Rasputin - Der wahnsinnige Mönch (1966)  aka Rasputin: The Mad Monk
Tumblr media
Nächte des Grauens (1966)  aka The Plague of the Zombies
Tumblr media
Das schwarze Reptil (1966)  aka The Reptile
Tumblr media
Das grüne Blut der Dämonen (1967)  aka Quatermass and the Pit aka Five Million Years to Earth
Tumblr media
Die Braut des Teufels (1968)  aka The Devil Rides Out
Tumblr media
Draculas Hexenjagd (1971)  aka Twins of Evil
Tumblr media
Schwache Story, unglaublich unsympathische Charaktere, teilweise unterirdisch schlecht gespielt und eine schon sehr fragwürdige Message. Macht auch als Guilty-Pleasure-Trash-Filmchen keinen Spaß. 2/10
Das Grab der blutigen Mumie (1971)  aka Blood from the Mummy's Tomb
Tumblr media
Duchweg unterhaltsamer Film, solide gespielt. 7/10
Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971)
Tumblr media
Die sieben goldenen Vampire (1974)  aka The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires
Tumblr media
Captain Kronos - Vampirjäger (1974)  aka Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter
Tumblr media
Die Braut des Satans (1976)  aka To the Devil a Daughter
Tumblr media

Mars In Tenth Residence As well as Married Daily life.
Washington, July 15 (IANS) The White Home has lowered the US shortage forecast for monetary 2015 till September 30 as well as for economic growth in fiscal year 2015. A Republican politician near to the White House said to Reuters that Trump picked Scaramucci, 53, a political promoter and also past Goldman Sachs banker, for the head media project on Thursday and also consulted with him on Friday morning to officially offer that to him. The props space has some wonderful parts and I was actually specifically had along with the head from a donkey which, although nothing at all to http://top-diet4U.info/ accomplish along with the Elder, told me so much of the braying sound that nearly betrayed the fantastics on the steps from the Concert hall. Whether that is actually computer animated halloween props, halloween headstones or frightening halloween disguises, a cartoon halloween sorcerer, halloween tombstones or even vampire caskets there is no end to the troubled property props readily available. Rebecca is the house objectified, all granite and righteousness, her simpering sibling more like the flower petals he delicately tosses onto the fire: My sibling goned on the factor from arranging these flower petals," Horace notes, along with satisfaction. For example, if you're looking to purchase Water fountain Hillsides realty, peruse the exact same region for Water fountain Hills residences to buy and locate one that closely is similar to the house you desire to purchase in relations to flooring region, amount of rooms, grow older, as well as the sort. To conclude, Shigeru Restriction's Furniture Residence is the conjunction of the easy type from Heyduk, the considerate organization and meaning from room of Van der Rohe, and the impressive use material from Aalto to confront the troubles that modern-day society faces today. Another possibility is actually to create 2 × 4 frames coming from tension handled timber to match between the piers; then deal with the outside with lattice, as well as staple yard material on the inside to minimize (however not stop) sky invasion under your house. The president has actually been actually at loggerheads along with a lot of wire service since his political election campaign and also made a decision certainly not to participate in the White Property Reporters' Supper in Washington on Sunday because he experienced he had actually been actually addressed unjustly by the media. President Donald Trump will definitely meet with the leaders of General Electric Carbon monoxide, Honeywell International Inc and AT&T Inc AT&T Inc, primary drone business firms and also venture capitalists in the most recent initiative due to the White Property to concentrate on impressive innovations as a way from sparking work growth.
After the security shock, when a lady tossed a white powder which was later figured out to become safe in to the offices of the governor and also mate guv and also your house gallery, the bipartisan turning back from Rauner's budgetary bans happened swiftly.
