The thing is, we've been seeing Qanon level reality denial from the left for over a year and a half now when it comes to Hamas, Israel, Oct 7th, the history of the Jews in the Middle East, the existence of antisemitism, etc etc etc. It's become increasingly mainstream and become increasingly frightening and dangerous for Jews. But what was distinct about this type of reality denial is that the consequences for it started and ended with putting Jews in danger. In other words, the people engaging in it were never really going to feel the consequences of their own actions.
I feel like this sudden mass delusion that there's no evidence Iran is/was developing nuclear weapons is a tipping point in terms of how far the general population is willing to take reality denial in order to maintain their belief that literally anything The Jews do ever is evil and wrong 100% with no nuance. The reason I feel like it's a tipping point is because while the motivation for it is still clearly antisemitism and the desire to fit literally everything into a Zionists vs. The World narrative, the consequences for this denial are clearly now moving beyond a minority group you already hate getting hurt.
What I mean is. People are now willing to deny obvious facts that potentially could endanger them, not just The Jews. They're so committed to this that they're willing to en mass pretend that there's no evidence of Iran developing a nuclear weapon, something that would have massive global impact. We are really screwed when people are willing to ignore facts that endanger their own personal safety, just to keep their oppressor vs. oppressed narrative 100% clean and tidy. I really do feel like we are at another tipping point.

"The Ballot or the Bullet" has so many applicable quotes. Every US election, people pass around "you put [the democrats] first, and they put you last," but there's another quote later in the speech that was relevant in 1964, in 1970, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2014, 2023, 2025 and will continue to prove true in future:
"The white man can never win another war on the ground. His days of war, victory, his days of ground victory are over. Can I prove it? Yes. Take all the action that’s going on this earth right now that he’s involved in tell me where he’s winning. Nowhere. Why some rice farmers, some rice farmers, some rice eaters ran him out of Korea. Yes, they ran him out of Korea. Rice eaters with nothing but gym shoes, and a rifle, and a bowl of rice took him and his tanks and his napalm, and all that other action he’s supposed to have and ran him across the Yalu. Why? ‘Cause the day that he can win on the ground has passed."

what i’ve failed to understand since i was a kid is why these ghouls want war with iran so badly. is it resources? do they have money in defense contracting? is it just that iran is too strong an opponent to us hegemony? why specifically do they want to see iran destroyed?
There is not one singular motivation behind the drive to send the US to war with Iran. There are multiple motivations which often overlap, but which are held in different orders of prioritization by different advocates of war. Most of these motivations are irrational and/or immoral, while others are legitimate complaints that could be addressed through diplomacy far more easily than they could through militarism.
Here's ten common motivations and arguments for a US war with Iran which you might encounter:
Independence from the US: The Iranian government is among the world's least-willing governments to obey US demands and subjugate themselves to the US-led order. For certain US primacists, this independence means that their very existence poses an existential threat to US dominance (similar to North Korea, Cuba, etc.) To a particular type of US militarist, it is necessary for the Iranian government to fall in order for the US to remain the unquestioned leader of the world.
Real Fear of their Nukes: There is a substantial contingent who really does believe that Iran is close to developing a nuclear weapon and that they could well use it if they were to develop it. Logically, the best way to address this concern would be through a diplomatic deal similar to the 2015 JCPOA, which Iran complied with! But the intensity of anti-Iranian sentiment among US hawks tends to convince them that direct military confrontation is somehow a better option, thus explaining why Trump decided to break this deal.
Desire for Revenge: Many older foreign policy hawks in the US have never forgiven Iran for 1) the 1979 US Embassy hostage crisis, and 2) the 1983 bombing of the US Embassy in Lebanon, which was orchestrated by a terror organization with ties to the Iranian government. In their minds, both of these incidents were embarrassments to the US' military prestige which we have never properly gotten revenge for. (These people tend to ignore the massive wrongdoings which the US has carried out against Iran during this same time period, like the US destruction of Iran Air Flight 655). There are people in and around the Pentagon who have wanted to bomb Iran over a grudge for more than 40 years now.
Iran's Regional Proxies: Over the last several decades, Iran has engaged in an aggressive campaign to expand their influence throughout the region by supporting proxy paramilitary forces in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, etc. Many of these proxies have undeniably engaged in acts of terrorism. This strategy is both opportunistic (taking advantage of the power vacuum caused by the US overthrow of Saddam Hussein) and defensive (countering the regional influence campaigns of Saudi Arabia and Turkey). This is probably the most legitimate cause of US anger towards the Iranian government, but it is a grievance which will only be worsened by backing Iran into a corner militarily.
Israel (and Saudi Arabia) Hates Them: Iran is unfriendly with two of the US' closest partners in the region: Israel and Saudi Arabia. The Israeli government, in particular, has long been laser-focused on the overthrow of the Iranian government, and they are fully committed to dragging the US into such a regime change operation. For the most fervent defenders of Israel in the US, overthrowing the Iranian government is near the top of their wishlist.
They Got Oil: Oil is a factor which is often overstated in these discussions, but it definitely is one of the factors. Iran currently produces 5% of the world's oil and has the potential to produce far more were the current sanction regime against it to be removed. They also have the ability to shut down the Straight of Hormuz, an important chokepoint through which 25% of the world's oil flows. Regime change in Iran would significantly increase the leverage that the US and its allies hold over global oil markets and further weaken the strength of OPEC.
And Other Commodities Too!: Though the separation between the US and Iranian economies hurts the US economy as a whole, there are certain sectors of US industry that benefit enormously from having Iran so heavily sanctioned. Some of the big names in the US pistachio industry have lobbied heavily to keep US-Iranian relations unfriendly, because the elimination of US sanctions on Iran would allow the massive Iranian pistachio industry to compete with the US industry. As long as these two governments hate each other, a few politically-connected US businessmen make way more money.
Diaspora Pressure Campaigns: Most Iranian-Americans hold the following two opinions at the same time: 1) they hate the current Iranian government and want to see it replaced, but 2) they strongly oppose US efforts at regime change in Iran. However, there is a vocal minority of Iranian-Americans that do support regime change efforts, and they tend to cluster into two well-organized groups that wage pressure campaigns against the Iranian government. The first are the monarchists, who want to see the son of the former US-backed Iranian dictator restored to power. The others are those who are loyal to the MEK, a cult and former terrorist organization which has been extremely effective at building relationships with US politicians. Both of these groups work full-time to push the US towards overthrowing the Iranian government so that they can step in and take over; it's fairly easy to find both of these groups in online social media threads about US-Iranian relations.
Who Cares, We Want War: As I have written about many times before, the US military-industrial complex encourages the US government to engage in militarist behavior in order to boost their profits. Iran is one of their favorite boogeymen to justify increased levels of US military spending, second only to China. These companies fund think tanks and other policy initiatives to argue that Iran is an immediate threat to us, and then they fund political candidates who want to spend more money preparing for this "threat."
They're Crazy! You Can't Trust Them!: We are led to believe that the Iranian government cannot be negotiated with because they are irrational, they're anti-Western religious zealots incapable of reasoned decision-making. This is a convenient excuse for war, but it's entirely incompatible with the restraint that the Iranian government shows in responding to Israeli attacks, their continued willingness to sit down for diplomatic talks with their aggressors, the way that they helped the US government deal with al Qaeda and the Taliban after 9/11, and a million other indications that the Iranian government is just as rational as any other government in its geopolitical decision-marking.
Add all of that together, and you get a deranged political ecosystem obsessed with inflating the scale of foreign threats, finding excuses for maintaining the trajectory of our militarist status quo, increasing regional tensions, and rejecting obvious opportunities for diplomacy and a peaceful resolution of our differences.

"Those who believe that bombing from the outside can save a country despite itself and against itself have always been wrong. It is absolutely essential that all strikes carried out on both sides, against energy, administrative and cultural infrastructure, and especially against civilians, must stop. Nothing justifies them and they are absolutely intolerable.
We do not want Iran to acquire nuclear weapons or the develop its ballistic capabilities, but I believe the greatest mistake today would be to seek regime change in Iran by military means -- because that would bring chaos. No one can say what comes next...We never support actions of regional destabilization. Collectively didn't we see the consequences this had in the region and elsewhere? Does anyone think that what was done in Iraq in 2003 was a good idea? Does anyone think that what was done in Libya in the previous decade was a good idea? No! I'm also thinking of our friends in the region, in Iraq, Lebanon, and elsewhere. We must help them reduce everything that, indeed, threatens their security, but they need anything but chaos."
-- French President Emmanuel Macron, on the Israel-Iran War and potential calls for regime change via military action in Iran by Israel and the United States, while speaking to reporters at the G7 Summit, Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada, June 17, 2025.

‼️Rumors claim Iran released this 3D visualization of Dimona as a warning.
Regardless of who made the video, the symbolism is clear—and the target unmistakable.
Dimona is not just another military site. It’s the heart of Israel’s undeclared nuclear weapons program, long shrouded in secrecy and protected by silence from Western allies.
Officially labeled the “Negev Nuclear Research Center,” Dimona was built in the 1950s with French assistance, supposedly for peaceful atomic research. But evidence soon suggested otherwise. Satellite images, whistleblowers, and intelligence leaks all point to one conclusion: Dimona is where Israel developed and maintains its nuclear arsenal—estimated at 80 to 400 warheads.
Unlike Iran, Israel is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). It refuses inspections, denies having nuclear weapons officially, and is shielded diplomatically—especially by the United States.
But it was not always unchallenged:
In 1963, President John F. Kennedy demanded that Israel open Dimona to full U.S. inspection. He suspected that Israel’s “peaceful reactor” was in fact a cover for weapons development. His administration put increasing pressure on then–Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion.
Ben-Gurion’s response? He abruptly resigned.
In response to U.S. demands, Israel reportedly went as far as constructing a fake control room at Dimona—a Potemkin tour set up for American inspectors to conceal the real operation underground.
Kennedy was assassinated later that same year.
After his death, U.S. pressure on Israel to halt its nuclear ambitions vanished almost overnight. Lyndon B. Johnson adopted a far more accommodating stance, and the Dimona facility was left to operate in secrecy.
To this day, Israel maintains a policy of “strategic ambiguity”—never admitting to having nuclear weapons, never signing treaties, and never allowing independent oversight. Yet it retains the most advanced nuclear arsenal in the Middle East.
So if this video is real—or if it’s even just a psychological signal—the message from Iran is this:
We know where the real red button is. 🤔

So Israel first strikes without provocation, destroying Iran’s air defense then Trump orders bunker busting bombs dropped on Iran’s nuclear facilities used for civilian purposes. Iran, who has not had any conflict with the US in decades and only defended itself against Israel preemptive strikes.
Even our own Intelligence said they were not developing nuclear weapons.
This is all a power play for the wealthy in the Middle East. Only the wealthy benefit.
You will not be safer. In fact, the working class are the most at risk to suffer physically and financially.
Wake up and smell the roses. You are being played, duped, roped in.
Start fighting back. Do not be led to the gas chambers, as they tell you they are doing it for your own good.

The Israelis have apparently decided to put a final end to the Iranian nuclear threat ... if they can:
According to the IDF, Iran has enough uranium to weaponize it to nuclear levels, for 15 nuclear weapons within days. In recent days, Iran developed a plan with Hezbollah and Hamas and other proxies to destroy the State of Israel, potentially including attempts to attack via all borders, including Egypt and Jordan. This was the point of no return according to the IDF. ... The IDF targets also include commanders, bases as well as nuclear sites, though the main goal is nuclear sites. Further, the IDF said in the last 20 minutes, Iran was taken by surprise and they were attacked in places they didn't expect.
Perhaps that was the plan -- catch the IRGC by surprise and take out their command structure to disrupt their ballistic missile capability. If so, they had better succeed, because a strike on this scale is full-scale war, which is no small matter for a country whose enemy outnumbers them 8:1. But if this intel was accurate, Israel waited as long as they could without committing suicide.
Holy shit. If this is accurate, this could be the most important war of our generation if it gets that far. Either Israel wins, or they're destroyed and Iran is left as the dominant power in the region, either with nuclear weapons or with the ability to make them fairly quickly. If you think they won't turn them against the Great Satan after defeating the Little Satan, you're an idiot. Trump absolutely needs to support them. This isn't Ukraine. We have a vested interest in the outcome of this war. If Israel loses, the next front will be against us.

Beware the anger of a patient nation.
For decades, Israel has shied away from anything that smacks of revenge, emphasizing that we defend, not attack, and do everything possible to minimize unnecessary casualties.
And we do.
We don't like fighting or bloodshed. We'd prefer everyone lived well - including our enemies.
But everything has its limits.
When Iran set a clock to countdown to our destruction, that was the beginning of the end of our patience. It ended when they sent our neighbors to invade, rape, torture, burn, loot and take hostages, bringing the Holocaust to the land of free Jews.
Their proxies smashed our homes in the south and the north with missiles, turning thousands of Israelis into refugees in our own homeland.
And then they encouraged their other proxies in Yemen to throw missiles the size of buses at us, just for the "fun" of it.
And they sped up their nuclear development, to make it possible to destroy us faster.
And now the world can see what Israel is like when there is no more room for patience.
This is not a reflexive reaction of anger. It is a meticulously planned response. Plans set in place when enemies attacked us and rejoiced in our pain, when the world mocked us thinking we were not capable and we would do as they bid, so that they would pat us on the head and call us "good", when supposed friends told us “Don’t” and when our own said “We don’t do these things, we can’t, we won’t…”
The name chosen for this operation tells the story of the end of patience for a very patient nation. “Rising lion” sounds like a generic, poetic name. The Hebrew better expresses the profound change we are seeing: “the Nation, like a lion” and it is a reference to this biblical verse, deliberately, carefully chosen to express this moment in Jewish history:
"הֶן-עָם כְּלָבִיא יָקוּם וְכַאֲרִי יִתְנַשָּׂא; לֹא יִשְׁכַּב, עַד-יֹאכַל טֶרֶף, וְדַם-חֲלָלִים יִשְׁתֶּה."
"Behold, the nation rises like a lioness, and lifts itself up like a lion; it shall not lie down until it devours the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain." — Numbers 23:24
Like the lion who sleeps most of the day but is deadly on rising, we strike with precision to eliminate the evil turned against us. The proud people of Persia are not our enemy - the ayatollahs of Iran (and their supporters) are.
This image is one tiny example of the extraordinary capabilities of the Nation of Israel – a hole in the wall of an apartment building, a rocket aimed at a specific room, smoke out of the window, evidence of the explosion inside the apartment. The rest of the apartment building remains standing.
Many of the men planning our destruction have been struck down in their beds. The weapons, conventional and non-conventional, are being taken away from them at this moment.
And this is just the beginning.
May the next hours and days pass with protection for all innocents and utter destruction to the evil ones.

Trump contradicts spy chief Tulsi Gabbard on Iran's nuclear program | Reuters
https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/trump-contradicts-his-spy-chief-irans-nuclear-program-2025-06-17/
》WASHINGTON, June 17 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday repudiated Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard's assessment that Iran has not been building a nuclear weapon, publicly contradicting his spy chief for the first time during his second term.
In rejecting his top spy's judgment, Trump appeared to embrace Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's justification for launching airstrikes last week on Iranian nuclear and military targets, saying he believed Tehran was on the verge of having a warhead.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One as he returned early to Washington from the G7 summit in Canada, Trump was asked how close he believed Iran was to having a nuclear weapon.
"Very close," he responded.
When told that Gabbard testified to Congress in March that the U.S. intelligence community continued to judge that Tehran was not working on a nuclear warhead, Trump replied, "I don't care what she said. I think they were very close to having one."
Trump's comments recalled his clashes with U.S. spy agencies during his first term, including over an assessment that Moscow worked to sway the 2016 presidential vote in his favor and his acceptance of Russian President Vladimir Putin's denials.
Asked for comment, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence pointed to a CNN reporter's post on X quoting Gabbard as saying on Capitol Hill that she and Trump were "on the same page" regarding the status of Iran's nuclear program.
Gabbard also told Congress that U.S. spy agencies did not believe that Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had ordered the restarting of a nuclear weapons program that the U.S. and the International Atomic Energy Agency assessed ended in 2003.
Iran denies developing nuclear weapons, saying its uranium enrichment program was only for peaceful purposes.
A source with access to U.S. intelligence reports told Reuters that the assessment presented by Gabbard had not changed.
They said that U.S. spy services also judged that it would take up to three years for Iran to build a warhead with which it could hit a target of its choice, a finding first reported by CNN.
Some experts, however, believe that it could take Iran a much shorter time to build and deliver an untested crude nuclear device, although there would be no guarantee that it would work.
Trump has frequently disavowed the findings of U.S. intelligence agencies, which he and his supporters have charged - without providing proof - are part of a "deep state" cabal of U.S. officials opposed to his presidency.
Gabbard, a fierce Trump loyalist, has been among the president's backers who have aired such allegations.《

I need to talk about this.
Misha, I think you're a brilliant actor, I love supernatural. But sometimes you really don't know what you're talking about.
This post needs some context. It was posted at 22.6.25 (yesterday) - just a few days after Trump bombed the three nuclear sites in Iran. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not a Trump supporter in any way. This isn't about him.
Now, I'm not only talking about him. This is a message to all of ya'll who think he's right.
The point is that that post is condemning America for the decision to bomb Iran. Iran, or the IRGC, who have publicly stated their intent to bring the destruction of America (and Israel). The IRGC, who had for years illegally continued in research and development of nuclear weapons. The IRGC, who supported and funded terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah for years.
Which, I'm sorry, but What The Fuck.
You say you don't want war. You don't think it's a good idea to bomb a country into stopping creating bombs as self defence. But that's not what Iran is doing.
Iran wants to build nuclear weapons. That's not the fucking same. That's not "using bombs to defend themselves". That's a nice and easy way to annihilate a country, like they were saying they were going to do, without facing consequences, 'cuz the rest of the world is terrified they're going to do it to them.
(Or worse, inciting another world war. I don't think we would want that either)
the current Iranian government is not only dangerous to America and Israel, it's also oppressing it's own people. Ever since the Iranian Revolution in 1979, which resulted in the rising of Khomeini to power, the regime had oppressed its citizens and violated their human rights countless times. Try to remember the protests for Mahsa Amini that everyone talked about not so long ago. Have you all forgotten what the IRGC is capable of?
Of course, I hope the people of Iran will be free of the oppressive government. I hope this will end with as little civilian casualties as possible. But that post isn't about them.
Misha, I assume you were talking about America attacking Iran - because you always conveniently ignored Israel when it came to anything political - but. America didn't just bomb civilian areas. They attacked, very specifically, only nuclear sites. There were no civilian casualties. This wasn't America saying Iran couldn't have any bombs at all, it was trying to make sure they didn't have nuclear weapons. I really, really hope you see why no one would want that.
On a slightly different topic, I have something else to say.
So you don't want war. Okay. You don't think it's a good idea to bomb a country to convince them they don't need bombs to defend themselves.
Interesting.
Hamas and Hezbollah - Iranian proxies, as I'm (not so) sure you know - have threatened Israel for decades now. They are terrorist organizations. They have had a lot of bombs they were more that willing to send against Israel, many times against Israeli civilians and civilian areas.
Israel had been forced to develop an exceptional defence system - Iron Dome, the Arrow system, etc. - in order to protect itself from those threats. In a way, Israel is the perfect example that bombing a country won't convince them that they don't need bombs to defend themselves. But did you ever say anything about that? No?
On October 7, 2023, Hamas had entered Israel, kidnapped more than two hundred people and murdered more than a thousand. Most of the dead were civilians. 50 hostages are still in Gaza. We don't even know how many of them are alive.
But let's see, Misha, what did you say about them? What did you say when all these people were killed and kidnapped?
Oh, right. You didn't.
If you really wanted "No More War", supporting countries that want exactly the opposite maybe isn't such a great idea. And if you don't know what you're talking about, you really should just shut up and find something you know better to talk about.

Communist Party of the Philippines: Unite and strongly condemn US bombing in Iran
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) joins all peace-loving and democratic forces around the world in condemning in the strongest terms the US imperialist government of Donald Trump for the bombing of three Iranian nuclear facilities in the early morning hours of June 22.
The US bombing of Iran, that follows more than one week of missile strikes by the Zionist state of Israel, is a brazen violation of Iran’s national sovereignty and a gross crime against international law.
The pretext about Iran’s program for developing nuclear weapons, that Trump has used to justify the US bombing, is the same justification that Benjamin Netanyahu for firing missiles against Iran. This has been repeatedly dismissed by experts and even by the US intelligence agency as groundless.
The “preemptive strikes” carried out by the US and Israel are based on claims similar to the big lie of “weapons of mass destruction” which the US imperialists used to justify its invasion and overthrow of Saddam Hussein in more than twenty years ago.In weaving such a narrative, the US imperialists insists that it alone has the right to determine who can develop and possess nuclear weapons. It also insists on having the unfounded right to impose its will on any country, and to punish anyone that does not bow to its authority based on its nuclear-backed military power.
The US bombing derails the efforts of the Arab community and leading European countries, along with Iran, to push for negotiations to forge a nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Trump himself abrogated the non-proliferation treaty in 2018 and has shown no interest in restoring it. Instead, he threatens to assassinate the Iranian Supreme Leader, calls for the overthrow of the Irani government, and demands its “unconditional surrender.”
By dropping bombs on Iran, Trump wants to extend his authoritarian style of government beyond the borders of the US. The desire of US President Trump to reign as global king must be condemned and rejected by freedom-loving people of the world.
The US bombing of Iran constitutes an outright war of aggression. The clear objective of this war is for Iran to surrender its sovereignty and the country’s wealth and resources. In seeking to force Iran to its knees, the US aims to control the vast oil resources of the country and the region.Iran has all the right to defend its sovereignty and interests against the US-Israel war of aggression. We support the Iranian people as they rise up in their millions against the much detested US imperialist ogre.
By declaring war against Iran, Trump has roused calls for him to be impeached and removed from office, for having done so without congressional approval. In the coming days and weeks, it will certainly galvanize calls for him to be ousted from power. The American people are fed up by his authoritarianism and are ready to take action to put an end to his tyranny. They have the support of all freedom-loving forces around the world.
People all over the world, including the Filipino people, must stand with the people of Iran, as well as with the Palestinian people, in fighting the US-Israel war machine, as it rampages through the Middle East to force nations to bow to its power, and surrender their freedom. In Gaza, the US-supported Israeli bombing has killed close to 60,000 people, maimed hundreds of thousands more, and caused a massive humanitarian crisis characterized by disease and hunger. Israeli occupying forces have been daily killing hundreds of Palestinians in desperate food lines.
Trump must be made to pay for his transgressions. Otherwise, he will only be emboldened to commit even worse crimes as the US imperialists desperately avoid a recession amid a deepening global capitalist crisis, and seek to redivide the world to get the biggest share of the plunder for itself.
In ordering the bombing of Iran, Trump has pushed the world closer to the precipice of a prolonged and more intense armed conflict, that runs the risk of pulling more and more countries into the vortex of a war covering the Middle East and beyond, and causing even greater sufferings on millions upon millions of people, including hundreds of thousands of Filipino migrant workers toiling overseas.
The Filipino proletariat and people must stand firmly against US imperialists wars. They must denounce the puppet Marcos regime for having allowed the US to build more military bases, deploy thousands of US troops, stockpile its weapons and stage one war exercise after another on Philippine soil, air and seas. They must resolutely fight against US imperialist wars, and stand firm and united in demanding an end to US military intervention and military presence in the country.
The Filipino people must organize mass protests to manifest their indignation against the US imperialists and its Israeli Zionist lackeys for the war of aggression against Iran, and to manifest solidarity to the Iranian and Palestinian people as they fight to defend their rights and their land. They must fight the Marcos regime whose subservience has allowed the US to drag the Philippines to its war strategy.
The Party calls on the Filipino people to join and support the New People’s Army and advance the people’s war, as the principal form of struggle to fight the puppet Marcos regime and the US-supported reactionary armed forces. By intensifying and expanding the people’s war against the US puppet troops of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Filipino people effectively contributes to the struggle of the people of the world to fight and prevent imperialist war.

World Socialist Web Site:
US President Donald Trump justified his attack in a four-minute homicidal, lying rant, delivered Saturday night. Announcing that US forces had struck three nuclear facilities, he claimed they were part of a “horribly destructive enterprise” which was supposedly necessary to “stop the nuclear threat” posed by Iran. In fact, these sites are part of Iran’s civilian nuclear energy program, developed in accordance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and subject to international inspection. For years, the United States’ own intelligence agencies have assessed that Iran was not actively pursuing nuclear weapons. But in the tradition of the Bush administration’s lies about Iraq’s “weapons of mass destruction,” Trump once again invoked fabricated threats to justify extraordinarily reckless acts of unprovoked aggression. Trump boasted of the “spectacular military success” of the attack, which he intended to serve as a message to the entire region, declaring that “Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace.” The reference to Iran as the “bully of the Middle East” turns reality on its head. For over a third of a century, US imperialism has been at war and carried out regime change operations throughout the region, including in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya and Yemen. Over the past two years, the Israeli government has waged a genocidal war in Gaza with continuous US support, slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent civilians. This has been merely a dress rehearsal for a broader campaign of mass murder.

Extremely fucking twisted that the media is reporting that the US bombed Iranian "nuke bases"
Tumblr media
Not just "Iran is developing WMDs" but implying they not only HAD them but had entire "bases" of them like, say, the US actually does in five countries other than itself. These were, at best, nuclear fuel enrichment sites that could in theory (as with any civilian nuclear program) be used in nuclear weapons.

Perhaps the most predictable consequence of an Iran defeat is the acceleration of a global arms race, particularly around nuclear weapons. Iran, a relatively large and sophisticated regional actor, has attempted to deter attack by developing nuclear capabilities, apparently below the threshold of actual weapons for now. If that deterrent fails and Iran’s nuclear program is dismantled, the signal to other regimes will be unmistakable: the only way to ensure your sovereignty in a U.S.-Israeli-dominated world is through acquiring nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
This logic has already played out, but to a far lesser extent. Libya gave up its WMD programs in 2003 only to see its regime violently overthrown. North Korea took the opposite path, developing a credible nuclear deterrent, and as a result has remained largely immune from foreign intervention. After Iran, more states will very likely pursue this path, viewing international treaties and inspections as traps rather than protections.
The risk is not just nuclear proliferation, but the normalization of preventive military action against non-nuclear states. The incentive structure becomes perverse: develop nuclear weapons quickly or risk regime change. The end result is a world more dangerous, more armed, and more unstable.
