hyperempathetic followers can now rest easy knowing the oceangate missing people have been dead for days and didn't feel a thing when it happened. low empathy followers can be bummed out that they found the wreckage so we can no longer gleefully imagine the passengers slowly freezing to death. normal followers (everyone in the middle) can be reasonably irritated that untold money was spent going after these idiots when poor disenfranchised people die all the time. if you learned about the migrant tragedy in the mediterranean sea thru this that's good (i did too), it's ALWAYS a good time to love and support refugees, migrants, n impoverished people. we have FAR more in common with them than we do the rich.

gosh. thinking abt a little book i saw at a secondhand store the other day....... it was a girl's book with notes from her friends telling her how much they loved her and how sweet and kind she was. all the notes were dated some time in 1950. in the back cover was a note saying betty had died age 15 in early 1951. and it just,,,, those were real girls and real teachers who loved this girl so much. heartbreaking to find it in a store, but also so tender to get a peek into some other person's life...

Akira Toriyama's DBZ was what pushed me during my childhood to write and draw for myself, not just for school. I feel I am too numb to cry. This is a humbling reminder that one day, all of our favorite authors and creators will die.

Appreciate time, even if our lives may be full of pain, still, appreciate the time, the things, and the people we have.

The memorial dragons

The first three are all for the same person - a close friend who died suddenly less than a month after I joined the site. Her name was Asri. Bologna is her actual memorial dragon, but Peilu was a scry she really liked who I then quested to get, and Heidala was a gen1 I got that we made plans for together, so I count them too

And now joining them is Monty, in honour of the dog I had known for half my life and who finally passed away this december. I still need the scrolls for him (including pose change bc this one suits him better!) but I'm sitting here crying looking at him so I wanted to show him off now instead

Talk of IRL death under the cut.

Learned that a FIMfiction author passed away in 2022, and now thinking about my own mortality... and what would happen to my blogs and my stories and fics when I do pass on.

It's scary. I'm gonna be 29 in a month, and there's the real possibility of me suddenly dying. What would happen when I just. Drop dead without notice? I could go outside and get hit by a truck. I could have a sickness that would kill me in my sleep.

What then when the time comes? What of these blogs and my incomplete stories when I pass on? And... is there a way to have someone let everyone know that I died when I just disappear online?

...I'm just scared of that possibility. My dad knows about me writing and posting online but he doesn't know about my whump blog and such. So IDK if I should tell him to let everyone know here when I'm gone. It's hard...

Okay i have yet to see a post about this that isnt filled with ppl being Annoying as Fuck on it, but,

theyve found wreckage of the submersible, it imploded (thank god, thats better than a drawn out suffocation over the course of several days, implosion means it was pretty much instantaneous) and the us navy have revealed they heard a weird sound on sunday from about where communication with the sub was lost, that was probably the sound of the implosion, [implied that they didnt say anything cos they didnt want to jump to conclusions without evidence of a wreckage, if there was a chance they were still alive.] no idea what the banging sounds were.

I do hope rescue efforts are extended to the migrants off the coast of greece, and am angry and horrified at their mistreatment, and that the media clearly cares less for their fates than that of the billionaires on the sub.

submarines generally dont go as deep as our deepest submersibles, but some can be down there for months at a time bc it is like. a self sufficient Ship. not all submersibles can go crazy deep, but to my knowledge, the only crewed vessels that can go that deep, are submersibles. So in the wake of the newest episode, a lot of talk has been coming up regarding Himura Kana. And full disclosure? I thought the Reality Dating Show Arc was completely based on it until like, four days ago.

For those of you unaware, there's a lot of parallels towards the death of a real life woman, Himura Kana. She was a professional wrestler turned actress, who took her life as a result of online bullying regarding her role in a reality tv show.

A lot of people assume this was based off of this particular incident due to the extreme parallels: but it was more... extremely coincidental. OnK began it's publication not long before the incident. It was inked and planned out roughly a month before her death: that is to say, it is... an extremely odd coincidence. Aka Akasaka is a vocal critic of the industry and is passionate about these topics, and it would appear that it was written just slightly before the actual tragedy. The actual chapter came out roughly 6 months after Himura's death: at the very least, Akasaka did not chose to divert from his plans for the story until then.

Whether or not the Reality Dating Show Arc and what Akane experienced in that arc is currently not something that can be disproved or proven vs. what I initially thought. Unless Akasaka actually outright says "Yes, it was inspired by the Himura Kana incident," it seems to be more "They were written around the same time." And nothing short of a statement from Akasaka will probably be able to prove or disprove it. What happened to her is unfortunately not a unique situation in the world, and I personally think it's safe to assume that Akasaka was very deadset on writing something regarding this topic no matter what. Even if it was rewritten, it would have been the same in heart most likely.

Regardless. I think it was a major fucking failure in judgment for representatives from studio Doga Kobo to not reach out to her family before this episode aired. No shit they're pissed- I'd be pissed. I doubt anything could have made them like it, but it would have been nice I'm sure if someone had reached out to say "hey so there's a lot of similarities between what happened and our work, we can't make statements, but we'd like for you to at least be aware of the fact this episode is going to be made." vs. what appears to have been that her own family just learned about it with everyone else. It seems like Doga Kobo did not think about doing this: and that is a fucking massively horrific failure in judgment in doing so.

So yeah, I'm sure others have talked about this, but I wanted to share that information. That Akane's incident was absolutely based on Kana Himura's story is not something known for a fact from the looks of it (and if I am wrong PLEASE let me know with sources and links) and was written around the same time and likely before her death, although without official confirmations nothing can be stated as 100% fact unless Akasaka confirms it, it's fairly safe to assume that it was some of the oddest and saddest coincidental timing imaginable.

im rly sick of the elisa lam video constantly being lumped in w other internet "horror" content bc like. elisa lam was a REAL PERSON. she was a real person having a manic break. she had bipolar disorder and was experiencing delusions. she was not "seeing ghosts" or "being possessed" she was a mentally ill woman who died in a horrible accident. u cant compare the elevator video to stuff like alantutorial or blank room soup or petscop bc all that stuff is FICTIONAL. elisa lam was real. her video is not "horror content" its a video of a REAL woman having a mental breakdown moments before her death. have some fucking respect
