Love Sucks IV. The Siren
Tumblr media
Vampire!Steve Harrington x fem!reader
He's just a gloomy, little guy.
It just… happened.
An autumn night, an evening without the younger kids, movies in Nancy’s basement. Jonathan was running late, apologising profusely when he burst in the door to the sound of Eddie’s booing, kernels of popcorn thrown at him from Robin’s direction.
His hair was still damp from a shower, work uniform swapped for fresh clothes and he slumped down in the empty spot beside Steve.
It happened then. In the dim light, in the glow of the television screen. You were beside him, legs thrown over his lap, curled into his side and you smelled like honeysuckle and hibiscus, your fruity shampoo, the leftover scent of sticky butter on your fingers and lips from the popcorn, cherry on your neck from when you spritzed some perfume all of nine hours ago.
Steve could pick out your scent from a mile away, something that smelled like home, the same thing that clung to your sheets and most of his clothes now.
But something else invaded all of it, a sharp tang of metal and warmth, copper pennies and delicious, cutting through the sweet, summery smell of you.
Jonathan.
Steve’s head whipped to the side, eyes wide and mouth watering, the distinctive shlick of his fangs sliding out from beneath his gums. You turned, confused, watching Steve watch Jonathan and then the gentlest kind of chaos ensued.
Steve didn’t attack, he didn’t throw himself onto the other boy, he didn’t snarl or bare his teeth and his eyes didn’t turn crimson, his veins didn’t protrude from his skin.
No. Nothing scary like that.
Not all.
Steve just frowned and gulped, looking at Jonathan with a gaze akin to adoration and he asked, “please?”
The other boy scrunched his face in confusion and was about to ask what the hell Steve was talking about but then the vampire reached out a gentle finger and prodded at Jonathan’s pulse point in his neck, a barely visible thrum under his skin.
“Dude!” Jonathan gasped, eyes wide with surprise and he batted at Steve’s hand, offence written across his face.
Everyone else’s attention had been stolen now, the movie forgotten and Robin looked confused, Eddie was grinning, ready for live entertainment and Nancy was running to the kitchen, yelling something about getting the bottle.
“You smell,” Steve inhaled deeply, crowding into Jonathan who leaned back at a comical degree, head pressed into the cushions and his shoulders shrugged up to his ears to his his chin. “So nice.”
Honestly, you felt a little put out, Steve had never reacted to you with such genuine hunger, a starry look in his gaze, a faraway, dreamlike wonder. But before you could voice your jealousy, Nancy scrambled back into the room with a squirt bottle. She aimed in at your boyfriend and a small jet of water hit him between the forehead.
Steve blinked.
He turned to Nancy, looking even more offended than you, than Jonathan. Eddie cackled around a mouthful of popcorn.
“My hair,” he implored, sulking, irritated.
“Dustin told me this was holy water!” Nancy sounded disgruntled, annoyed but you gaped at her, arms flung wide.
“Holy water? Nance!”
“What!” The girl looked a little guilty but she pointed at Steve all the same, gesturing at how your boyfriend was staring wide eyed at Jonathan, the tiny tips of his fangs poking out from his lips. “It’s fine, it didn’t even work!”
Jonathan swatted at Steve again, crawling over to where Robin was sitting, his knees nudging uncomfortably over her lap and the girl promptly shoved him to the floor.
“It could’ve!” You accused, “what if you’d melted him! What then!”
“Just one little taste?” Steve was following Jonathan around the room, both of them crawling and stumbling over furniture, Eddie’s legs, a stack of video tapes. The bucket of popcorn spilled at your feet. “Jonathan. Jon. Jonny. Buddy.”
“Steve!” You tried to intervene, helpless, but Steve just gazed at you sadly, like you were trying to take away his favourite treat. “Babe, you can’t bite Jonathan.”
“But he smells so good!” Steve tipped his head back, petulant, his voice a soft wail.
“Is Vamp Boy in love with Byers?” Eddie finally stood, giving Jonathan a solid structure to hide behind. The boy peered at Steve through Eddie’s curls, eyes narrowed and suspicious.
“No, he’s not,” you and Nancy said together, both voices hot and impatient.
Steve looked guilty, Jonathan didn’t look convinced and Robin snorted.
Steve walked to the car later that night with his head bowed, skulking behind you like a proper little cryptid, pouty and forlorn. He gazed behind him as you fumbled with your car keys, his eyes trained on the small window at the base of the Wheeler’s house, the one that showed off the warm glow of the basement.
Even from the sidewalk, he could see Jonathan, talking animatedly to Nancy, his fingers pointing to his neck, his facial expression aghast. Steve sighed, world weary and hard done by and he licked his lips.
One day, he vowed.

66 Uses For Coffee Filters
Tumblr media
Most homes have coffee filters. We can buy them for cheap, usually 500 or 1000 in a pack. If we’re just making coffee, they usually last a long time. These cheap little filters offer so much more than just one use. It will amaze you how quickly you can diversify using them.
Here are 66 uses for the common coffee filter. I’m sure you can think of many more
Put a filter in the bottom of your flower pot containers, over the drainage holes. This keeps the soil from leaving the container while still allowing water to run through it.
Soak filters in brewed tea or even just plain water and chill. Fold them and use as a cold compress for puffy eyes.
Accordion fold a few coffee filters, cut into strips, and use as shipping material for fragile items. The unbleached kind make fun shredding material for hamsters.
A coffee filter is perfect for spreading oil or butter on a cooking pan since a coffee filter’s fibers won’t break off in your oils like a napkin’s would.
Shield stacked china from scratches and nicks by layering a filter between each piece.
Use a coffee filter to prevent splatter when heating something in the microwave, simply place over the top of your food and cook as normal.
Poke a hole in a filter and insert the stick of your popsicle. You now have a DIY popsicle drip collector!
Put the end of an ice cream cone in the center of a filter and wrap the filter around it for a drip-free ice cream cone wrapper.
Use a coffee filter as a makeshift rag. Unlike paper towels, coffee filters are lint free and take up very little space.
Put under bacon, fries, fried chicken etc. to soak up excess grease.
Use to line bamboo steamers.
Place a few tablespoons of baking soda in a filter and twist the top together with a rubber band. Place in shoes, gym bag, closet, refrigerator, or anywhere else that may have developed some less-than-pleasant odors.
You can also use them safely to clean computer monitors, television screens, and windows. They clean without leaving residue.
Cut up a stack of filters, place them in a small tin and you’ve got a set of face blotters perfect for your purse and last-minute shine control.
Make skirts for Barbies.
Good-quality coffee filters are made from 100 percent virgin paper, so you can use them to clean your glasses without leaving lint.
Line the bottom of cookie tins.
This is one of my favorites! Dampen a coffee filter with some white vinegar and a few drops of your favorite essential oil and use as a substitute for a dryer sheet. Your clothes will come out smelling fresh and the coffee filter reduces static.
Strain bacon drippings by pouring them through a coffee filter into a ceramic bowl or mug. The brown bits, grains, etc will stay in the filter. Also works well for recycling frying oil.
Kids food holders for Tacos, Hot Dogs, Pita Sandwiches, etc.
For perfectly heated tortillas, spritz a coffee filter with water and lay a tortilla on top of it. Spritz a second coffee filter and put it on top. Heat the stack in the microwave for 10-15 seconds, and your tortilla will be warm and still pliable. You can use the same ones over and over.
A disposable “snack bowl” for popcorn, chips, etc.
Make homemade tea bags by filling coffee filters with a selection of loose tea leaves and dried fruit peels. Tie together with string and use just like normal tea bags.
Wrap jumbo dill pickles in coffee filters to prevent dripping when eating.
Use as a portable doggy food bowl.
Put flavorings (bay leaves, woody herb stems, etc.) in a coffee filter, tie with string, and stick in soup while cooking for quick and easy removal later.
Use as a sandwich wrap (inside the baggy or plastic container) so your sandwich doesn’t get soggy in your lunchbox.
If you use cloth diapers you can line your diaper with a couple of these and toss the solids rather than not having anywhere to rinse them.
Changing diapers is bad enough, but toilet training kids on a potty is equally messy. Line the potty with a coffee filter so you can just lift out the number two and deposit in the toilet.
A coffee filter can hold small parts when working on vehicles, cleaning guns, or most any other project!
Coffee filters are fantastic for polishing leather shoes. Simply apply a dab of your favorite shoe polish and use the filter as an applicator.
A coffee filter will work well to de-silk an ear of corn. Dampen a filter and wipe it in one stroke from the top to the bottom of the shucked ear of corn.
Use as a mini cutting board for chopping (not slicing) one tomato, onion, etc.
Use a filter as an easy-to-tear backing for embroidering or appliquéing soft fabrics.
After you are done washing your cast-iron cookware, place a coffee filter in the bottom of the pan and it will absorb moisture and prevent rust.
Put a couple of coffee filters in your pocket when you are working outdoors or going on a hike. They work great to wipe sweat, dirt and oils off your face.
Use filters to bake jumbo muffins or mini cakes in the oven. Fill the filter 1/3 full with batter and place in a shallow circular pan to bake.
Wrap cut celery stalks in a coffee filter before putting them in a plastic bag to store in the refrigerator. The coffee filter will help absorb any moisture, and keeps the celery crisp longer.
Kids Place Setting…turn plain coffee filters into adorable painted place settings at your next get together.
If you have a small cut or even a razor nick, grab a piece off of a coffee filter and put it on with pressure to stop the bleeding. Your coffee filter will work similar to a styptic pencil but without the stinging.
Make a DIY action figure parachute
To sprout seeds, dampen a coffee filter, place seeds inside, fold it and place it into a zip-lock plastic bag.
Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.
Use to hold your turtles while cleaning the tank!
Keep in your car glove box for window cleaning, to use as napkins and for quick cleanups.
Since you have a package in the glove box anyway…..the next time you need to check the oil level in the car, use a filter to wipe the dipstick.
Use coffee filters in the bottom of the kitchen compost pot. It keeps messiness from sticking to the bottom of the pot, and goes right into the compost pile outside along with the pot of compost when emptied.
Can’t find corn husks? Use coffee filters as a replacement in Mexican tamales. Add filling and steam as usual.
If you have to strain your urine to capture a kidney stone so you can take it to your doctor for analysis, you can strain it through a white coffee filter. It is easy to see the sediment against the white background.
Line a colander or strainer with a coffee filter, place the strainer in a bowl, fill with regular yogurt, and let sit in the fridge overnight. Fresh Greek yogurt for breakfast!
Use a coffee filter to spot clean your clothing. Use white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide and the spot will be greatly reduced if not disappear completely.
Separate tortillas for freezing.
To prevent holes in your clothes when wearing a pin, try putting a piece of coffee filter inside your clothing as a “stabilizer”. It makes the cloth sturdier and the pin is less likely to snag.
Add some fragrant flowers to the middle of a coffee filter and tie with a pretty ribbon to make a DIY sachet to scent your delicates.
Make a flavor packet to add to your sun tea. Take a filter and center the contents in the middle. Gather the edges, twist and tie with string. Drop into your jar along with tea bags and let it brew as usual.
Get spills out of carpets, before they stain. While the spill is still wet, cover it with a coffee filter. They will wick up the spill.
Filter wine when you break the cork
Wrap Christmas ornaments for storage
Coffee filters make great blotting paper for pressed flowers. Simply place the flower between two filters and put them inside of a phone book or any other object with weight.
Use them to remove fingernail polish when out of cotton balls.
Diffuse the flash on a camera.
Great in the tool room when separating nails and screws then use in to bottom of containers to remove moisture and prevent rust.
Make travel coffee bags out of coffee filters and dental floss.
Use as a “pre-filter” for your water purification system to help extend the life of your water filter.
Put a filter in the bottom of a metal fruit bowl to prevent brown spots on your fruits or vegetables.
Use to dry wine glasses and prevent water marks.
So that is just a few ideas you can use a coffee filter for. Give them a try, you’d be amazed at how quickly you can add to this list of uses

Seasonal Eats: Sweet Corn
Tumblr media
What vegetable is more deeply ingrained in food culture than corn?  First cultivated thousands of years ago by the ancient Aztecs and Mayans, they actually devised some of the world’s earliest calendars, as a way to keep track of their planting schedule for  you guessed it… corn!
Of course, it wasn’t the buttery sweet stuff we’re largely used to now; instead, they harvested field corn, dried and ground for use in breads, puddings and cakes.  By the time the 1700’s rolled around, farmers were able to significantly change their repertoire, by literally sowing the seeds for the 200+ varieties available in America today.
While that encompasses field corn, popcorn and ornamental corn, you’re most likely to come across moist, soft-shelled sweet corn, which can be simply eaten and enjoyed right off the cob.  Of course, that doesn’t keep chefs from getting inventive with it; summertime menu additions of note include the
Tumblr media
White Corn with new potatoes, celery, and Australian truffles at Jean-Georges’ all-vegetable abcV, the Taleggio, Bacon and Doejang-flavored Corn at the elevated banchan specialist, Atoboy, and Fluke Ceviche lapped with leche de tigre, corn and sweet potato at the shellfish-focused Out East.
The EMP team keeps things easy breezy with Summer Chicken Salad with squash, corn and chickpeas, and Confit Pork, Roasted Corn and Chorizo at their fast-casual concept, Made Nice, while Root & Bone showcases corn’s starring role in the Southern cooking canon, via Shrimp & Grits with charred corn, Stoneground Grits with grilled corn, and Warm Cornbread dripping with maple bacon butter.  But perhaps no eatery plumbs more unique depths when it comes to corn than Cosme, which has practically become synonymous with their ingenious Corn Husk dessert — lighter than air meringue flavored with charred
Tumblr media
corn husk powder and bursting with aerated fresh corn cream.
When it comes to selecting fresh corn, do the farmers a favor, and don’t peek under the husk.  You should be able to discern a good ear if its tassels are brown and sticky to the touch (if they’re black or dry, it’s too old).  Feel the corn through the husk to check for even, plump kernels… and if you must, peel the top of the leaves back just slightly, to make sure the tips of the ears are filled out.  If they are, you’re almost certain to have snagged an ideal score of corn.
While it’s best within 24 hours of purchasing (as those sugars quickly transform to starch), you can refrigerate corn, still tightly wrapped in its husks, for up to three days.  Which means the race is on the use it before you lose it — and if your corn is truly fresh, you can’t go wrong with ears simply boiled, grilled or steamed.
You don’t even need to cook it; just slice off the kernels and pop them into salad with tomatoes, olive oil, vinegar, and feta cheese.  Try a barbecue-friendly casserole, thickened with cream and cornmeal,
Tumblr media
and finished with cheddar, scallions and bacon, or foil and parchment-wrapped packets of fish or shrimp with hunks of corn, which can be thrown directly on the grill.
Toss with avocado for a super-fresh salsa, simmer, strain and cool into a delightful chilled bisque, toss with flour and fry into fritters, or even turn into ice cream, showcasing corn’s natural sugars in an unexpected way.  And then there’s our favorite corn preparation, Mexican elote, where whole, grilled cobs are slathered in mayo, rolled in cotija cheese, and finished with hot pepper and a refreshing spritz of lime.
Tumblr media
Centuries later, corn remains the very essence of summer and one of America’s most beloved eats.

Lemon Lime - Twisted Sour E Juice
Vendor: Twisted Sour E Juice Type: E Juice Price: 25.00 Lemon Lime - Twisted Sour E Juice   Feel free to toss everything you thought you knew about sour e liquids out the window and get ready to start with a fresh slate. That slate will soon be spritzed by a sweeping mist of sour fruit flavor in Lemon Lime e juice. The two most notorious fruits for their tangy properties have been smashed together to form a frighteningly awesome sour juice unlike any other you’ve ever vaped. Well wake up and face the lemon. The tart notes of its juices will be squeezed into your mouth in a mighty misty form. The lemon is the go-to fruit if you want to add a little tang to your beverage, your favorite cuisine or your most tantalizing desserts. Now it will be one of your most preferred flavors for your collection of tart e juices. The lemon is an immediate sour striker, electrifying your lips and tongue the moment you inhale Lemon Lime’s vapor. The lime steps in to add a sweetness element to the sour frenzy your palate is experiencing. Don’t be fooled, it’s not all sugar and spice. The lime flavors in this vape juice still uphold the bold and bright notes of the lemon and only complement them to add a more elaborate sour flavor. The additional sour crystals are what takes you over the edge and into a land where all the fruits are sprayed with an extra amount of sour to keep those lips puckered and those endorphins happy. They go together as well as peanut butter and jelly, popcorn and butter or cookies and milk. The only difference is those combos are manmade and can’t come close to the natural blessing given by the fanatically sour combo of Lemon Lime. Those sour candies that made your face cringe so much as a kid have nothing on this powerful duo of tangy fruits with extra sour crystals in Lemon Lime e juice. 7 Ways To Make Fruits A Good Halloween Treat
Halloween treats are enjoyable, but the majority are unhealthy. While you want your kids to have fun over the once-a-year celebration, you also want to make sure they do not end up with too much candy. Fruit is an excellent alternative.
The problem is most kids just don’t want to eat fruit. It is boring. They know it is healthy and it just doesn’t look at appetizing as the chocolates, popcorn, and candy that’s on offer at other houses. You need to find a way to make fruit interesting. Make your children forget all about the nutrition in fruit and see and enjoyment in it.
You can easily make your fruit look more interesting. Here are seven ways to make it an excellent Halloween treat for the whole family.
Start with the Frozen Boo-Nana Pops
Boo-nanas are a popular addition to any healthy Halloween party. They are fun, nutritious, and tasty for all. However, you can go one step further by making frozen pops with your boo-nanas. They are extremely easy to create, and you can make enough for the whole party without spending a fortune.
These can also become portable. You will just need some tin foil, cling film, or other types of wrap. The bananas will start to melt and become mushy when the kids are on their way to trick or treating.
Get the kids involved in making their tasty treat. They will want all their friends over for a Halloween party. There is chocolate involved, but very little. It is the chocolate that makes kids believe they are eating something unhealthy and Halloween-worthy.
The recipe below will make four boo-nana pops. You can increase the number of ingredients you have to create the number of pops you will need.
Ingredients:
1 medium banana
1 cup of white chocolate
8 chocolate chips
4 popsicle sticks
Method:
Chop your bananas in half and then slice in half lengthways
Place the popsicle sticks into each banana quarter and then place on a cookie sheet with wax paper; freeze the bananas
Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate in a mug until it is soft
Dip each of the frozen bananas into the melted chocolate, scraping off the excess
Put the bananas back on the cookie sheet and add two chocolate chips to each banana stick for the eyes
Put back in the freezer until they are hard
These are best eaten frozen. However, you can send them out to the kids. The chocolate will melt, so let parents know to put the boo-nanas back in the freezer before eaten or encourage them to eat on the way around!
Make Your Spooky Spider
Sometimes you need to create a more substantial dessert or snack out of smaller items. Grapes just don’t look as fun until you make them into something spooky and enjoyable. For Halloween, you want to use grapes to make a bid spider. The kids can grab a grape or two when they want to eat them.
This will be funafterschool project for the kids before they go out trick or treating. You can also create it in the middle of the treats table if they are having a home party with their friends.
Ingredients:
1 plum
A few handful of grapes
16 pretzel sticks
Dab of peanut butter/cream cheese
Two raisins
Method:
Grab the plum and add eight holes, four on each side
Place grapes over eight pretzel sticks, leaving enough space on one side to put into the plum
Add the other eight pretzel sticks to the last grape on each of the initial sticks
Fill the second set of eight pretzel sticks with the other grapes
Place the legs into the plum
Add a small dab of peanut butter or cream cheese at the front of the plum and add the raisins on top; creating the eyes of the spider
If you prefer, you can also do this with black olives. Make sure the olives are pitted. If you do not want to use pretzel sticks, you can opt for toothpicks to keep everything in place.
If the plum is too small for the eight legs, you can use two plums instead. It is not quite a spider with two parts of the body, but it is better than not enough legs, right? Join the plums together with extra pretzel sticks. If you add fewer legs, come up with a creative reason for the lack of eight legs!
Make a Few Apple Monsters
Monster mouths are fun and easy to make, but you can go a little step further. Opt for full apple monsters instead. This recipe will use nuts for the teeth. If your kids are allergic, you will want to add seeds instead.
If you are not into the whole monster, you can create a monster vampire instead. There’s an excellent alternative under this first recipe.
Ingredients:
1 red apple of choice
Chopped nuts of choice, preferably almonds or cashews
Toothpicks
Marshmallows
Green icing
Method:
Start by chopping quarters out of your apple
In each quarter, chop a small section out of the skin, creating a mouth-like quarter of apple
Chop the nuts lengthways and then stick them into the apple, creating uneven teeth for the monsters
Stick two toothpicks on the top of the mouth and add a marshmallow to each toothpick
Finish with a dollop of the green icing on the marshmallows to create the eyes
The apple will brown if you just leave it out. Avoid this by spritzing it with some lemon juice or placing it in salt water.
Adapting for Vampire Mouths:
You can use the apples to make your vampire mouths if you want. Instead of adding all the nuts, you can use two seeds to place in the top section of the mouth, looking like the vampire teeth. Alternatively, you can use bits of straws, but you will need to remind everyone to take the teeth out before eating the mouths!
Make a Candy Corn Fruit Cocktail
Sometimes you can trick kids into eating something nutritious without even hiding the fruit! It is all about creating something that looks appealing to them. A fruit cocktail looks more fun than eating the pieces of fruit on their own.
Make your fruit cocktail with a Halloween twist. This recipe does use cream and some candy, but not enough to cause a major health problem. After all, one piece of candy corn is going to be a drop in the ocean with all the fruity goodness.
You can choose whatever types of fruit you want, but I recommend using the same colors as the candy corn. It is possible to make your fruit cocktail look like a candy corn.
Ingredients:
Pineapple chunks
Orange segments
Whipped cream
1 candy corn per cocktail for topping
Method:
Use a clear glass and add a layer of pineapple
Top with a layer of oranges
Add a layer of whipped cream on top and serve with the candy corn piece on the top
Place the cocktails in the fridge until you are ready to serve them. They make excellent snacks for the kids during the day, but they can also make excellent desserts for a Halloween dinner party. The kids will love getting involved in creating these dishes.
Make Your Grape Caterpillars
Fruit kebabs can be made to create all types of funky designs and monsters. For Halloween, you can create creepy crawly caterpillars with ease. It is all done with some grapes. You will need some kebab skewers or toothpicks, depending on the size of caterpillars you want.
These can be used for trick or treating. Wrap them in some cling film, so everyone gets to see the funky caterpillars in his or hertrick or treat bags. Parents will love that you have added something healthy with a twist.
Ingredients:
Green grapes
Cream cheese
Chocolate chips
Method:
Place as many grapes as you can on your kebab sticks, leaving a little space to grab the stick with your hands at the bottom
Add two small dollops of cottage cheese on the front grape
Top the cream cheese with a chocolate chip each
If you do not want to use cream cheese, you can use vanilla icing instead. Melted white chocolate will also work, but the cheese is just a little easier.
Get your kids involved in making these. Let them place the grapes onto the skewers. If they are too young to do this without catching the tip, help them with it. When kids get involved, they are more likely to enjoy their treats afterward.
Arrange Your Monster Fruit Bowl
You do not have to get crafty with small bits of fruit. Sometimes it is all about the way your layout the fruit for kids to snack. You can create a delicious fruit bowl with a Halloween twist with ease. Look out for different types of fruits that you can throw together to create a bowl.
Start with this simple bowl. You can then find new and exciting ways to put your fruit bowl together. The best thing about this trick is you can convert the idea for all different seasons. You will never run out of ways to put the fruit together.
Ingredients:
Apples
Large oranges
Black grapes
Method:
Chop up your apples and oranges, leaving the skin on both
Layer the fruit, so the orange segments create the shape of a face, leaving a space for the mouth, eyes, and nose
Add most of the apple slices within the space for the mouth, creating it as gory as you would like
Add the grapes in the holes for the eyes and nose
Finish with a few apple slices to create the hair
Put the bowl of fruit out for your kids to snack on throughout the day. You will be surprised at how little is left by the end. Don’t worry if the treat tempts you. It is there for everyone to enjoy.
Create a Watermelon Monster
This is one of the biggest projects and can take time to chop. You may find your kids cannot help at first, but they will enjoy putting it together once you finished the preparation. The main part of the dish is a watermelon that you are going to turn into a monster. It is hilarious for kids to look at and will make the perfect centerpiece for a Halloween party.
Ingredients:
1 watermelon
Mixture of fruits of your choice
Two slices of cucumbers
Two black olives or grapes
Method:
Start by chopping the bottom part of your watermelon slightly, so that it can stand up straight without rolling
Now carve the bottom half of the front of your watermelon into a mouth shape; get creative as you would with a pumpkin without scooping the watermelon out as you will want the chunks for later
Chop up all your fruit into chunks
Place the watermelon at the back of the serving plate
Add the fruit chunks at the front, as if they are spewing out of the watermelon monster’s mouth
Finish by adding the slices of cucumber above the mouth of eyes with the olives as the pupils; secure with toothpicks or pretzel sticks
You can opt for chocolate drops for the eyes if you want. You will need some icing to keep the chocolates in place.
Being Healthy does not Need to Be Boring
One of the best things about fruit is the versatility of it. There’s no need just to give a piece of fruit and be considered a bore. You can make the fruit look fun. After all, it tastes so much better when it looks appealing.
The treats above don’t take too long. The trickiest will be the watermelon monster head, but that is more because of the carving. Kids will love getting involved helping to put together all the fruity creations and will be mighty proud when they have friends over. On top of that, the parents will adore you for healthy Halloween snacks!

Easy, Gluten-Free Snack Ideas
Living a gluten free lifestyle doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy delicious foods.
It simply means you need to create new habits and approaches to eating.
Take snacks, for example. Many people turn to starchy carbohydrates for snacks.
We’re talking about crackers, cookies, chips and baked goods. Most of those types of snacks are packed with gluten.
The good news is that there are hundreds of other easy and gluten free snack ideas.
Let’s take a look at just a few of them.
#1 Nuts and Seeds
Almonds, cashews, and pistachios are all high in fiber. They also have protein. This means they fill you up and help curb your hunger until mealtime.
They’re the perfect snack. A handful of nuts and seeds make a perfect gluten free snack.
#2 Popcorn
Popcorn is 100% gluten free. And you can get creative with your toppings. Many people enjoy melted butter and a bit of salt.
You can also try things like chili powder, garlic, onion powder and even cinnamon.
You can spritz the popcorn with a bit of olive oil, truffle oil or even melted butter.
It’s tasty, satisfying and you can eat a few cups of popcorn without consuming too many calories.
It’s a fulfilling and gluten free snack.
#3 Yogurt
Yogurt has healthy probiotics that regulate your digestion and help things stay on track. However, many yogurts also contain a high amount of sugar.
Try plain Greek yogurt topped with your favorite fruit. Add berries, apples and cinnamon, or tropical fruits like bananas and papaya.
#4 Dark Chocolate Covered Fruit
A little dark chocolate is good for you, right? Why not add a bit of fruit to a chocolate addiction and create a gluten free snack.
Try chocolate covered bananas, strawberries, and cherries. Prepare the fruit, dip it into melted dark chocolate and refrigerate or freeze. It’s a snack that you can make ahead and enjoy for days.
#5 Chips and Salsa
It’s said there are two kinds of snacking people, those who head for the pretzels and those who head for the chips and salsa. If you’re a chips and salsa person then you’re set.
Plain tortilla chips are usually gluten free, but read the label to make sure. And you can make your own salsa or look for salsa that is gluten free. Again, most are, but read the label to make sure.
What if you’re a pretzel snacker? There are a few brands of gluten free pretzels that are quite delicious.
#6 Fruit and Veggies
Edamame– You can buy frozen edamame at Whole Foods. When you get hungry, thaw a portion in hot water and squeeze lemon juice and sea salt over the top.
Orange Slices- I used to love when someone would peel an orange for a snack at work. Citrus is such an energizing fragrance!
Natural Peanut Butter on Celery- you can also try a cream cheese version for calcium (Tofutti Cream Cheese for casein-free).
Marinated Carrots– Buy sliced carrot coins and marinate them overnight with your favorite low-sugar vinaigrette.
Tomatoes with Salt– When summer hits, there is nothing more yummy!
Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans– Chickpeas are packed with protein and they have a high fiber content, which prevents blood sugar levels from rising too rapidly after consuming this yummy snack
#7 Chocolate Covered Dried Apricots/Bananas
Microwave 2 oz. bittersweet chocolate in 30 sec. intervals stirring until melted (or use double boiler). When it is thoroughly melted, dip the apricots (halfway) or bananas (I do the whole slice). Place the fruit on a cookie sheet covered in wax paper; sprinkle with crushed nuts. Put the cookie sheet in the refrigerator until the chocolate is set.
Finally, if you enjoy baking you can make gluten-free cookies, muffins, breads, and crackers on the weekend. There are many gluten free brownie and cookie recipes online.
Many of them use almond flour instead of wheat based flour. They’re amazing and can help you navigate a gluten free lifestyle with ease.

Primary Flavors: Lemon, Lime https://breazy.com/products/lemon-lime-twisted-sour-e-juice?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr #vape #vaping #eliquid #vape #vaping #breazy

Seasonal Eats: Sweet Corn
Of course, that doesn’t keep chefs from getting inventive with it; summertime menu additions of note include the White Corn with new potatoes, celery, and Australian truffles at Jean-Georges’ all-vegetable abcV, the Taleggio, Bacon and Doejang-flavored Corn at the elevated banchan specialist, Atoboy, and Fluke Ceviche lapped with leche de tigre, corn and sweet potato at the shellfish-focused Out East.
But perhaps no eatery plumbs more unique depths when it comes to corn than Cosme, which has practically become synonymous with their ingenious Corn Husk dessert — lighter than air meringue flavored with charred corn husk powder and bursting with aerated fresh corn cream.
Try a barbecue-friendly casserole, thickened with cream and cornmeal, and finished with cheddar, scallions and bacon, or foil and parchment-wrapped packets of fish or shrimp with hunks of corn, which can be thrown directly on the grill.
Centuries later, corn remains the very essence of summer and one of America’s most beloved eats.
