How long will they last? - until the end of time, babey

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - it was love at first sight but then they started talking i do think it was some form of ~interest~ in one another at first sight, but then all that drama and lack of communication happened so they didn’t really allow themselves to even dream about the possibility of a relationship. HOWEVER! once lion joined rainbow and they talked their shit out like people who know how to cope, there was a period of a few months that is now referred to as The Four Months of Pining™, during which glaz did a lot of paintings where the subject (who usually bears an uncanny resemblance to doc or lion) is staring at something (or someone) longingly. he calls it his french period. when they finally get together, a LOT of money changes hands. and goes straight into sledge’s pocket (he was the only one who bet that it would take them this long). diana gets a brand new collar (handmade), bed (handmade), dish (handmade), and many new toys (some handmade, some store-bought. sledge’s craftsmanship can only get him so far) 

How was their first kiss? - you know how the french are supposed to be super suave and confident??? and how gay people are trying their hardest but they’re just Not Good at things????? (i know these are stereotypes but stay with me). well, with their 5/8 french blood (i hc one of doc’s parents is fully algerian while the other is half french, half algerian), and their 4/4 gay blood, they have an 81.25% chance of success in matters of the heart. sadly, that 18.75% chance of failure came into play during this situation. picture it. doc and lion. romantic, home-cooked dinner. le festin is playing in the background. they’re holding hands over the table. suddenly, doc’s cat goes into labour. all hell breaks loose. lion is getting flashbacks to his son’s birth, so now he’s hyperventilating. doc carries him to the couch and turns on the fan so he can cool off and catch his breath, before carefully moving his cat, Rayie (arabic for gorgeous, pronounced rye-ah) to the living room in his handmade Birthing Box, then grabs a pile of blankets and a heat lamp and situates himself on the ground nearby so he can help her if she needs it. once the kittens are born (they’re twins!! Sadiqi is the boy, and Amirti is the girl!!!) doc makes sure they’re nice and warm and that Rayie is recovering, and gives her pets while she cleans her babies. once the happy family is all settled in for the night, doc walks over to the couch and just. lays down on top of lion. once he’s gotten over the adrenaline of the birth, he takes lion’s face in his hands and says “promise me you’ll be more calm if we ever decide to have kids” and gives him a BIG smooch while lion’s just short-circuiting like “does he know i have a son???? did i forget to mention my son?????? also what about these kittens??? are they not sufficiently childish to count as children????? DOES HE WANT KIDS????? does he want to marry me??????? wait why is he getting so clo-”

Wedding:

Who proposed? - lion. it was the day of their two year anniversary (yes i AM saying they got together the august after outbreak don’t @ me) and they were on vacation at doc’s family’s Secret Beach House. they were vibing on the balcony, watching the sunset, when lion suddenly clears his throat. doc turns to look at him and finds his boyfriend down on one knee, looking like he might flee to Bermuda. he’s reaching for something in his pocket. doc starts laughing. lion, completely misunderstanding his reaction, flushes and stammers out an apology. doc sees this, and immediately stops, though he’s still smiling gleefully as he catches lion by the biceps, then reaches into his own pocket and pulls the ring he was going to give olivier. they exchange rings, giggling like little kids, and spend the rest of the night making out on whatever surfaces are available. 

Who is the best man/men? - for lion? montagne. (his son is the ring bearer and doc’s niece is the flower girl). for doc? rook. he’s so happy he gets to participate in his dad’s wedding

Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - lion’s parents. they tried to call him during the reception but doc’s grandma grabbed his phone and started cussing them out, talking about dishonor and how they tried to disown him so they’re not his parents anymore, and besides, his new family absolutely adores him, so really, it’s their loss. once she hangs up, she pulls lion into a hug and he calls her his favorite, if only, grand-mère

Who is on top? - who’s topping? lion. but sometimes doc gets bitchy so he gets to set the pace if you know what i mean

Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - doc will only allow vandalism if it’s in the name of righteousness. meaning, he’ll allow their son to spray paint the walls of a goddamn walmart with shit like “eat the rich” and a portrait of robespierre and a guillotine, but it is a HARD NO on defacing places like the library or community center (unless he has a good reason to do so). lion spends his time praying and making sure his son knows which acts of civil disobedience are acceptable and which are distorting their goal 

Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - doc. he (privately) dreams of retiring (eventually) and living out his lifelong dreams of being a househusband. so

Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? - it used to be lion out of necessity, but when people started asking about his “wife” he was really torn between telling them that he and his son’s mother separated, but now he has a partner and his son seems very happy about it. when doc finally attends a meeting with lion, people really struggle to hide their shock. a few clunky but well-meaning “we support you”’s and “we’re sorry for everything that’s been going on”’s later, doc has used his charm to make friends with literally everyone. from then on, he is on pta duty on behalf of lion and his ex

Who cried the most at graduation? - lion! his parents purposefully didn’t show at his, so it’s a big deal for him to show his son just how proud he is. doc tears up a little too, but manages to mostly keep it together so he can support lion, who spends most of the day heave-crying about how proud he is into his husband’s shoulder. gustave just pats him on the back and tells him that they’ll run out of donuts if they don’t get to the concession stand soon

Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - doc. civil disobedience, baby!! he has never been caught. lion fears the law after his youth, so he tries to avoid any visits to law enforcement. he also can’t stand to see his son behind bars

Who does the most cooking? - doc. househusband, remember?

Who is the most picky in their food choice? - doc, but only because he can be a bit of a spice supremacist. he has to get his ingredients from these very specific farms and markets or else his great grandmother will begin manifesting in their house to curse them

Who does the grocery shopping? - doc, bc he does NOT trust lion to not just sweep all of the microwave ramen and kraft mac n cheese into the cart then sprint to self-checkout

How often do they bake desserts? - whenever possible. doc and maestro live by the philosophy “don’t do anything halfway” if they’re going to go through the trouble of making a meal, it will have multiple courses. 

Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - doc is more of a salad eater but only for ease of consumption with halal laws. he adores filet mignon

Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - lion! maestro enlists himself as assistant head chef after walking into the base’s kitchen one day to find lion covered in flour and lying facedown on the floor, crying

Who is more likely to suggest going out? - also lion! though he’s memorized doc’s order at all of their favorite restaurants, so he usually just gets take out and puts on a big show of being a “tired housewife who works in the kitchen all day just for this one meal” and setting up the table so it’s all nice and romantic

Chores:

Who cleans the room? - lion. organization is everything to this man. doc helps with laundry and such, but for the most part he leaves organization to lion and his systems (think leslie knope levels of planning and organization)

Who is really against chores? - neither! they both understand that teamwork makes the dream work, baby!!

Who cleans up after the pets? - doc, since lion’s already asked him which color hanger should represent “clothes i can tear off my husband before we fuck” and he needs a Moment

Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? - neither. they don’t own a broom

Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - lion because of the deep-seated catholic urge to appear perfect in front of others, and doc because people will gossip, olivier!

Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? - lion. he immediately called doc into the room and asked “is this your stash of drug money?” doc, who had been asleep because it was 3 in the morning on a saturday, just stares at him

Who takes the dog out for a walk? - lion is known in their neighborhood as the man who walks cats. there is a facebook page where people post pictures of him walking his cats. vigil is an admin

How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - LITERALLY EVERY HOLIDAY GETS DECORATIONS. lion makes his own for the muslim holidays since there really aren’t many “of good quality” in stores. when they first started dating, doc came home to find his house covered in ramadan decorations, and lion standing precariously on a ladder, trying to string up fairy lights while learning how to pronounce important arabic words. needless to say, doc cries

current status ––– following a fight at school, geraldine kane was called into the principle’s office to talk about her son’s involvement in the altercation. joyce foster, who has long since developed motherly feelings for lucas, has now come to the definite decision to adopt him –  to give him a steady family even after he turns 18 and because she is convinced geraldine & john kane should have no legal authority over lucas. while initially met with some resistance from her husband, george foster, the two have since agreed to bring the idea up to the family and eventually start the adoption process. of course, they didn’t want to blindside lucas, so joyce has told him about their plan just a few days ago – something lucas now has to process by himself. and with other people. the fact that his uncle weston taylor is now out of prison might change everything, anyway.

2. tom & jill ––

current status ––– now that almost all their children are all grown up and out of the house, jill & tom sullivan have made a decision. they know they don’t want any more children, so tom agreed to a vasectomy as an alternative to hormonal or barrier contraception. only a few months after the procedure, jill noticed changes that she first attributed to menopause – a thought that scared her. though the reality of the situation ended up being the even scarier thought. she’s pregnant. 24 years after her first and 16 years after her last pregnancy. before she had even worked up the courage to tell tom, he had already found the positive pregnancy test. and there was only one possible explanation in his mind – jill cheated on him. she denies it, he’s too hurt and proud to listen. so their relationship has been on ice and the athmosphere in the whole sullivan house has been rather frigid too for a few weeks now. he doesn’t sleep in their bed anymore, drowns himself in work & jill thinks she just needs to give him time. but time doesn’t heal all wounds, especially not when he pretty much ignores her existence alltogether.

current status ––– vicky owens most likely thought that the day she’d see cory langley again would never come – which would have probably been for the best for everyone. but she did see him again, one afternoon, in a walmart. 17 years had passed since they last saw each other. and even though they parted in a fight that was never resolved for either of them back then, they agreed to catch up over a cup of coffee at vicky’s house. vicky’s son, noah owens aged 16, came home while cory was still over and as he was beginning to do the maths, he realised that this kid was most likely his. he left that afternoon utterly dumfounded, trying to put the pieces together. only once he was back home did it start to really sink in – he most likely has a kid. cory went back to vicky’s house a few days later, shaking with anger, and loudly demanded answers. only after he’d already started screaming at her did vicky confirm to him in a small voice, ‘he’s yours.’ noah and his boyfriend, liam caldwell-moore, stepped in once they heard the raised voices, telling the rather threatening seeming man to get away from a crying vicky without having any context of the conversation. cory now knows this life changing secret that vicky has done her all to keep sealed tight over the past 17 years, while noah remains clueless

current status ––– lance hughes’ situation is continuing to quietly deteriorate. after his overdose nearly a year ago he was clean for a few months, but fell into a major lethargic depressive episode. when the shock of it wore off a little and marisol & john hughes loosened their reigns on him, it didn’t take long for him to find himself going back to the drugs. he’s become a good liar, a better liar, knows exactly what people like his parents and bella bennett want to hear from him. he tells her he still smokes from time to time but that’s it – nothing else.

current status ––– gabe thompson and ana caldwell-moore had been sleeping together again for months behind avery caldwell-moore’s back before it started to blow up in their faces. carelessly, they were caught in the act by ana’s son, liam caldwell-moore, a couple weeks ago. he has since been refusing to talk to ana or gabe, internally battling with himself about whether he should be the one to tell his mother, avery caldwell-moore, who knows something is up but is being kept in the dark about it. ana, feeling ashamed, has also been avoiding gabe while trying to fix things at home, though he wasn’t really having any of it – he confessed to her that he wants to give the two of them a try now and asked ana to break up with her wife. ana wasn’t ready to sacrifice her family – though things might look different once she finds out that she’s currently pregnant.

Last Thing I Googled: “native snakes in the united states” I love learning about native fauna and flora. Also recently finished reading up on a lot of Good Stuff about coniferous trees and also turkeys for some reason. Also I usually have something like 140-160 tabs open at a time, for research purposes. Right now its 11 windows and 198 tabs but that’ll go down shortly after I finish reading about Native Snakes. c:

Following and Followers: Following 512?? Some are probably inactive these days though I’ll have to go through them. Followers on this blog is 462! And none of them are bots, which I viciously block!! And any not-nice folks (t.erfs, etc.) or blatant porn blogs.

Amount of Sleep I Get: These days, way too much...usually get up around 11-12ish and frequently get tired around 3-4 pm and sleep until like 6-9 pm. It’s really not good. But I do get a LOT done in the brief periods of time I’m awake, so that’s good!

Lucky Number(s): I’m not sure!! I don’t believe in lucky numbers, just numbers that “look” nice/clean. Ex. Anything that ends in 0 or 5 is great. If it has to be below a dozen, then any even numbers below 12 or odd numbers 3 and 5 look “good.”

Dream Job: It’d take too long to talk about but I basically want to have a small farm/orchard and conserve native heritage livestock and plants, as well as historically important or ancient breeds/strains, and do a lot of hands-on conservation work for our local forests and rivers...might even attend Mont Alto in a few years if things go that way, and get an associates in Forestry. Really just want to work with Trees and Animals, especially Bugs and Reptiles and Livestock and Birds and what have you. Ideally mostly from home or in the field, self-employed mostly with art on the side. But I’d love to work with other folks too and do some fieldwork.

Instrument(s): Own a ukulele but I haven’t picked it up in ages

Favorite Author(s): Ray Bradbury, by far, although my favorite NOVEL is One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and my favorite DRAMA is Waiting for Godot  by Samuel Beckett. I also enjoy Ursula Vernon’s work, she was a big inspiration of mine when in middle school-high school.

Favorite Animal Noise(s): The peeps/songs the button quail make, the squeaky toy and buzzing powerline call of grackles, Mr. Jinx’s meows (rip in rest old man), spring peepers, catbird calls, and mockingbird noises. Also Hagrid’s hisses are very amusing too.

Aesthetic: Tank top + overshirt + jeans...instant outfit, ready for anything. Also comfy dresses.

A DAY TO FUCKING REMEMBER 

I am writing this after my shift. so much went down and nina is probably asleep and so is rosol. I just typed in all caps in the skype group chat because I lost my shit. I am still losing my shit but I have kind of calmed down.

im going to start from the very beginning of the day. i had not seen glasses boi or Brandon so I was sadness as I usually am. I only worked a 6 hour shift (4-11) and it wasn’t until 9 pm that I saw Brandon. I was working self checkout and he was on his break and on his way to the bathroom. I saw him. he saw me. we ignored each other. on his way back he went the long route . going the long route means that he would have to go right in front of me and make it very obvious for me to see him. once again, its the usual, we ignore each other.

an hour later at 10 pm, I come back from my last break. anytime I come back from a break / lunch, I have to go to a Customer service manager and ask them where they need me (what register to go to / self checkout). the manager tells me to go to the electronics center to cover someone’s shift. I've never done that before but I was down because ELECTRONICS BOI. I didn’t know who's shift I would be covering but I was hella hoping it was him. I get there. it was not him.

so im in the electronics center and im just standing at the register. im a little nervous that a customer is going to ask me a technology related question and I won’t know how to answer. its slow, so im just kind of looking around. I see a paper that says “every shift, do some go backs”. idk if y'all have read my other posts but I explain what go backs are. anyways, below that there is something else written in a different pen color and in someone else handwriting. it says “that sucks booty cheeks.” and the o’s in “booty” were drawn to be butt cheeks. when I read that I immediately thought that electronics boi would be someone to write that. that made me smile (:. there's also a pole near the register and I noticed that a photo of a fucking meme was taped up on it. its a cropped up image of the dog crying meme. like so:

I see him from far away and I try to not face him because I couldn’t smile anymore without being awkward. at this point im not facing him, and he says “excuse me”. in this moment I was like “shit what does he want I don’t know the answer to anything” (I thought he was going to ask a work related question”.)

Pathetic, Clinging Poetry - Chapter 6 (of 25)

She taught me to stay in line. To watch my feet as I walked; To speak softly and sparsely; To tremble underneath her gaze.

You taught me to draw the line. To gaze up at the violet skies; To shout back at the roaring thunderstorms; To crush the sheets of ice beneath my feet.

'One. Two. Three. Four. Five.'

Pearl exhaled. The car's radio was playing just quietly enough to fill in the silence, but not so loud that it distracted her from her breathing exercises. She reached into the glove compartment for a pack of tissues, ripping it open and wiping her tear stained face, then blowing her stuffed up nose. She realized just how pathetic she probably looked to anyone passing by, crying alone in her car in a Walmart parking lot, which only made her feel even more anxious. 'Don't think about that; you're probably not the weirdest thing anyone has seen today.' she silently reassured herself. She watched as a flock of seagulls just ahead fought over a slice of pizza crust, flapping their wings and cawing at each other.

Pearl's heart ached with guilt as she was reminded of her plans with Amethyst. 'She's going to think I ditched her.' she thought with a groan. Part of her was tempted to drive over to the mall; maybe Amethyst was still over there with her friends, and she could try to meet up with them? 'They probably wouldn't want to see me when I'm a mess like this, though...' she thought, running her fingers through her hair and leaning back in her seat. 'And they'll probably ask what happened, and I don't know if I have the energy to explain everything... Ugh, this is bad.'

Pearl turned her gaze towards the clock; it was almost 9. Her head ached from crying, and the direction she'd parked her car had the sun shining directly into her eyes, which wasn't exactly helping. 'Guess I'll go back home. Not like I have anywhere else to go.' she thought. After a few more moments of sitting and listening to the corny pop music playing on the radio, she pulled herself together and headed out of the parking lot. 'I really hope Jasper's asleep.'

The house was eerily silent as Pearl walked in; she locked the door behind herself, throwing her keys onto the table and looking around for any signs of Jasper. "Hello?" she called, not loud enough so that Jasper could hear her from across the house, but loud enough so that anyone downstairs would know she was home. There was no response; Pearl continued over to the couch and grabbed her book bag, pulling out her laptop and flipping it open as she sat down.

'I wonder if Amethyst can get internet at the mall... Maybe I could let her know what happened.' she thought, tempted to send her a message on Facebook... There was the little green circle by her profile picture that signified that she was online.

"Hey, I'm sorry for not letting you know sooner, but something came up and I had to leave the house for a while. I hope we can try to hang out another time, but I don't think I'll be able to make it tonight. Have fun, though!"

She pressed send, and almost immediately saw the "read" notification. 'That was quick... was she waiting for me?' After watching the screen for a few moments, she didn't see Amethyst typing a response. 'Probably busy... I hope she's not upset.'

She heard footsteps on the stairs and her body tensed, but relaxed once she realized it was Amethyst. "Oh, you're home!" Pearl shut her her laptop and set it aside. "Why aren't you at the mall?"

"I heard all the shit going on downstairs and saw that your car wasn't here." Amethyst said, brushing her bangs away from her face. "I didn't want you thinking I forgot about you, so I told Dot and Garnet to hang out without me tonight."

"Aw, Amethyst... You didn't have to do that." Pearl smiled warmly. "I wouldn't have been offended if you'd left without me. I'm the one who ran off without telling you anything, after all."

"Yeah, but still." Amethyst sat down on the couch beside her, letting out a sigh. "I was worried about you. Didn't think I'd be able to enjoy myself until I knew you were somewhere safe." Amethyst turned to look at Pearl. "You know you didn't have to do that for me, right?"

Pearl placed her hands on her lap and turned her gaze away from Amethyst. "I wanted to! And it wasn't just that, anyway. I felt like Jasper wasn't being very fair with me. And I started to worry that... that maybe she was only letting me stay here for her own benefit. Does that make sense, or am I being paranoid?"

"Yeah, it does." Amethyst leaned back against the couch. "I mean, I dunno how true it is, but it still makes sense that you'd think that."

"Am I overthinking it...?"

"No, you're not. I just meant you could be right, or you could be wrong, but I'm not a mind reader -- that's all I'm saying." Amethyst shrugged. "I may be her sister, but I don't know what's going on in her head."

"Ah, okay..." Pearl said. "I guess I just kind of worried that... she wanted me to keep her from being lonely. It seems like all she ever does is work, spend time with me, and sleep... But she doesn't go out or talk about anyone else in her life. It's like I'm the only one she has... Which is fine, but her jealousy was starting to make me uneasy." Pearl rubbed her eyes as she felt tears begin to build up. 

"And now I'm wondering if she ever truly cared about me in the first place... Did she really want to help me out, or did she just want me around here to keep her company?" Pearl wiped tears away with her sleeve as they began to stream down her cheeks. "Maybe I was stupid for thinking someone would care about me..."

"Aww, no..." Amethyst whispered. "That's not true... Look, I can't tell you how Jasper feels, or what she was trying to do when she took you in, but I can promise you that people care about you. At least I do."

"Thank you..." Pearl sniffed, brushing a strand of hair away from her forehead. "Really, thank you for being here for me." She turned to Amethyst and gently place a hand on top of hers. "I hope you don't think I don't value our friendship, because I really do! I just wish things were better with Jasper, that's all..."

"Don't worry, I get what you mean. Just take a deep breath." Amethyst said; her tone of voice was soft in a way Pearl hadn't really heard before.

"It's just... it isn't fair, you know?" Pearl whispered. "I just want things to go right for me. I want to trust the people I love and not have to wonder whether they care about me. I couldn't get that from my mother... And I couldn't get that from Jasper. And... it's terrible, because I was trying to get that from Rose, too, which is why I kept clinging to that stupid poetry... But then I ended up getting feelings for Jasper, and then Jasper started being cruel to you and possessive of me and I couldn't put up with that, either... I'm rambling, should I stop?"

"No, it's fine..." Amethyst gave Pearl's hand a little squeeze. "Keep going if you want to."

"Alright... I just feel like such an awful person. Maybe I did something to deserve this... Maybe I was foolish for thinking Jasper would care about me or be the same person she was in high school." Pearl sighed, gripping Amethyst's hand in return.

"You needed to get away from your mom." Amethyst said. "And Jasper was going to give you what you needed; you're not stupid for jumping on that kinda opportunity."

The two sat in silence for a few moments before Amethyst spoke up again. "You know what? If things start to go too far south with Jasper, just... just let me know, and I'll talk to Garnet or Peridot, alright? I'm hoping it won't. I have a feeling you guys will be able to fix things, but in the crazy scenario where you can't... I'm sure one of them would be able to take you in. Peridot's got a small apartment, which kinda sucks, but Garnet lives with her parents, so we'd probably need to get their permission if Peridot won't take you... But I'm sure at least one of them would be able to give you a place to sleep." She looked into Pearl's eyes with a serious expression on her face. "No matter what happens, I'm not gonna let you live in your car or with someone who makes you feel like shit. You don't deserve that. Okay?"

Pearl hesitantly nodded her head. "Alright... Thank you." A small, pained smile spread across her face, and she pulled Amethyst into a tight hug. "I can't thank you enough for always being here for me..."

"Hey, I just wanna help." Amethyst patted Pearl on the back as she returned the hug. "So hey... what do you need right now? You want some space, or do you wanna keep talking?"

"Ah... I wouldn't mind if you stayed around a little bit more." Pearl said as she slowly pulled away from the hug. She wiped the tears from her face and took a deep breath. "Maybe, if you don't mind, could you bring me a glass of water?"

"Sure thing. Just sit tight, Pancake." Amethyst said, pulling herself to her feet and making her way towards the kitchen. The new cutesy nickname made Pearl's heart flutter in her chest. 'That's a cute one...' she thought with a giggle, a slight blush on her cheeks.

As she waited for Amethyst to return, she shifted to a more comfortable position on the couch with her legs tucked underneath her. She caught a glimpse of one of Amethyst's paintings hanging by the stairway, and an idea popped into her head. Pearl reached for the book bag on the floor and unzipped it, fumbling around for the familiar cover of her composition notebook, pulling it out just as Amethyst returned from the kitchen.

"What's that?" Amethyst asked, sitting down beside Pearl and handing her the glass of ice water.

"It's the old poetry notebook I've been holding onto, heh..." Pearl said. "I was wondering... I-if it's not too weird of me to ask, would you like to take a look at it? Most of it is rather old, but I've done quite a bit of revising over the years, so it's not too embarrassing." She traced her finger along one of the creases on the cover. "Only if you want to, of course -- it just came to mind because I started thinking about the artwork you've shared with me, and I thought it'd be fair if I showed you my own art... if you can call it that."

"Pfft, of course poetry's an art." Amethyst said, extending a hand. "Give it here. I'd love to see your stuff."

Pearl took a sip of her ice water as Amethyst flipped through the notebook; she tried not to stare at her, but couldn't help glancing her way every now and then to see her reactions. Amethyst hummed a little bit as she flipped through the pages, a slight smile spreading across her lips as she read. "Aww... You sure loved to write about girls, huh? Looks like teenage Pearl was just as gay as adult Pearl is now."

Pearl couldn't help but burst into laughter. "I think adult Pearl has only gotten gayer." she said, placing the half-empty glass on the table.

"Hell yeah!" Amethyst said with a grin. "Anyway, these poems are pretty good. Kinda metaphorical, but not to the point of being confusing, you know? It's easy to read, but doesn't treat me like I'm stupid, either." Amethyst closed up the notebook and placed it down on the coffee table.

"Thank you so much..." Pearl said. "I haven't shown it to very many people, you know. I had Peony read some of them, but she didn't have much to say about it, and I wouldn't dare show them to my mother -- I convinced her I 'overcame' my attraction to women -- and well... I feel like, considering she hates Rose now, Jasper probably wouldn't want to read it, either." Pearl's heart sank as she remembered when Jasper had told her about the situation with Rose... 'Maybe I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions earlier... She may have been acting cruel, but I can't really prove she lied about Rose abandoning her, either...' Pearl thought, turning her attention back to the poetry in an attempt to shake off her guilt. "Anyway, I've been meaning to get back into writing again, but it's been so long, I'm not sure I still have the talent."

"I'm sure you do. Maybe we could try and do some art together sometime." Amethyst said. "Ya know, I can make one of my shitty paintings, and you could write a poem about it; or, I could read one of your poems and paint a picture of what it looks like."

"Oh, that could be a fun time!" Pearl said. "And your paintings are not shitty, by the way."

"Aww, I meant shitty in an endearing way, but thanks." Amethyst snorted. "You wanna do some art now, or do you need alone time? I totally get if you do, especially after today-"

"No, no, I think I need your company right now." Pearl interrupted. "If you're willing to give it. I like having you here, is what I mean, but if you want to leave, then leave. That- that sounded way harsher than I wanted it to, I'm sorry." Pearl sighed and slapped a hand over her face. "What I mean is, yes; I'd like to do some art together if you're also in the mood. It'd be a good distraction."

"Don't worry, I get what you mean." Amethyst chuckled. "I've got nothing better to do; you wanna do it in my room, or would you be more comfortable if I took all my art stuff down here?"

"Hmm..." Pearl tapped the rim of her glass as she thought. "Perhaps in your room, if that's alright? Since that's where you normally do your art, it's probably more comfortable for you; and it's probably a lot more private up there as well."

"Sounds good." Amethyst pulled herself to her feet and stretched. "So, how you wanna do this? Do you want me to paint a picture of one of your old poems, and you can write a poem about one of the paintings I have hanging in my room?"

"Yes, that's perfect!" Pearl clasped her hands together. She felt a slight tingle of anxiety as she remembered what had happened last time she went into Amethyst's room, but shook it off; Jasper was already angry at her, so it wasn't like she could make things worse than they already were... And she found herself caring less about what Jasper thought, anyway.

Amethyst led the way up the stairs and down the hallway; as they passed Jasper's room, Pearl couldn't resist pausing for a moment in front of her door. The lights were still on, and she could faintly hear the sound of a T.V. playing. 'I guess she's not asleep after all...' she thought. Shaking off her concern, she turned and continued into Amethyst's room, shutting the door behind her.

"I'm guessing you probably don't wanna write on the floor, so lemme create some writing space for ya." Amethyst said. She shoved a bunch of her garbage and knick-knacks off of her desk, cringing as she heard the sound of cracking glass. "Oof. Oh well, it's all cheap shit anyway." she shrugged.

Pearl raised an eyebrow at the now-cracked glass bird statue lying on the floor. "I could have helped you clear it off in a more careful manner, you know." Pearl smiled nervously as she crouched down to pick it up.

"I'm not the kinda person who thinks things through." Amethyst snorted, waving a hand dismissively. She then turned back towards the desk and grabbed a feathery pen that looked like a flamingo, pulling a notebook down from the shelf and opening it up to a fresh page. "There ya go. Anything else you need to write poetry?"

"I think you've covered all of the bases, but thank you!" Pearl said, carefully placing the glass bird on a shelf so it couldn't get even more broken. She pulled the chair out from under the desk, and upon realizing there was a pile of clothes sitting on it, she neatly folded them and placed them on Amethyst's bed. Once everything was out of the way, Pearl sat down and reached for the goofy-looking pen, stroking the feathers as she looked around the room for a painting that caught her eye.

"Are there any paintings in particular that you want me to write about?" Pearl asked. "There's so many to choose from..."

"Hmm..." Amethyst had seated herself on the floor with her art supplies and a fresh canvas, Pearl's poetry notebook laying open beside her. "How about that one?" Amethyst pointed to the painting hanging right beside the desk. "That one was kinda fun to make; I based it off those Rorschach inkblot things."

Pearl carefully took the painting down from the wall and placed it on the desk in front of herself; there was a slight crease where the thin canvas had been folded, making the painting perfectly symmetrical. "Alright!" Pearl said with a smile. "This one seems interesting enough!"

The only two colors in the painting were blue and green, and the background was pitch black; there was an oddly shaped animal-like figure in the middle, and it was surrounded by various spots and smudges. 'Looks kind of like a meditating ram? Surrounded by... clouds, maybe? Not sure if that's a valid interpretation.' Pearl thought as she attempted to analyze the painting. 'How do I even turn that into a poem? Maybe our art styles are too different for this collaboration...'

She turned back to glance at Amethyst, expecting to see her struggling just as much, only to realize she'd already started pouring her paints onto the palette and mixing her colors. 'Damn it. She knows what she's doing; maybe my skills are too rusty for this.'

She tapped her pen against the notepad as she brainstormed, leaving behind little dots of ink each time it tapped against the sheet of paper. The silence in the room wasn't exactly helping with her creativity, either, so she decided it would be helpful if she made conversation.

"Hey, Amethyst..." Pearl began. "When did you realized you liked girls?"

"Probably around the time I realized I was one." Amethyst said. "So like, around middle school. What about you?"

"I think I've known it ever since I was little." Pearl began to draw a line of bullet points on her paper, despite not having any ideas to write beside them. "I remember my first crush being on a girl in my kindergarten class; she was very tomboyish, but always wore skirts and big bows in her hair... But I didn't really know it was a crush, I guess? I just thought I wanted to be her friend... I didn't really recognize any of my crushes as such until... high school, I think." Pearl placed her pen on the table, resting her chin in her hand. "I remember one day I asked my mother if girls could like other girls, and her response was a flat out 'no'. Not even a 'that's sinful', or 'that's wrong'. It wasn't that we shouldn't but that we couldn't. Isn't that strange?"

"If by strange, you mean fucked up." Amethyst said. "Damn, I'm sorry about that, though. At least when my mom was weird about me being trans and bi, she didn't treat it like it didn't exist; just acted like it was along the lines of having a fetish." She reached for her largest paint brush, dipping it into the puddle of pure black paint on her palette.

"That's not fair to you either, though!" Pearl said. "You're not weird or perverted for being trans or bisexual... And I'm not weird for being a lesbian, either."

"I know I'm not; I just don't really care what other people think about it." Amethyst shrugged, brushing the black paint across the canvas in front of her. "If I did, I'd probably never leave the house. And that's also how I put up with living here; it became much more bearable when I no longer gave a singular shit what Jasper thought about me."

Pearl smiled as she turned back towards the desk, reaching for the feathery pen again. "Oh? So you don't care what anyone thinks?"

"Nope."

"Not even a little bit?"

"Not a single fuck to be given, ma'am."

"Do you care that I think you're wonderful?"

The exaggerated groan that followed made Pearl burst into laughter. "Oh my gosh, you really are the cheesiest of Pierogies." Amethyst said, tilting her head back to look at Pearl.

"I'm merely stating the truth!" Pearl turned back around in her chair to face Amethyst. "You really are wonderful! And I love being around you. You never fail to brighten up my day, and I'll remind you of it until it drives you crazy!"

"Pfft, you already do." Amethyst brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, her smile only growing. "...But thanks. You're a real sweetheart."

"I try my best." Pearl giggled. Still holding the pen in her hand, she brushed the soft feathers against her chin, gazing at Amethyst with a warm expression. She watched as she stroked the canvas with her paint brush, coating every inch of it in black. She couldn't help but wonder what poem she'd chosen to paint, but judging by the dark color scheme, she assumed it was one of her less romantic ones... With a sigh of content, Pearl rest her head in her arms. 'Watching her paint is so relaxing... Perhaps my poem can wait.'

as some peoople probably/hopefully know. walmart closes at 6 pm on christmas eve. no one actually gets to leave at 6 becuase of shitty last minute customers. but it is what it is.

this. is really personal but im honestly SO close to just. killing myself? so who cares

basically. had a really really bad last few days. spent a lovely time with family (jessies family, his oma and opa and sister and parents and it was just a great time. theyre more family to me than most of my blood family) but it did make me Sad in Deep ways as we dont know if this is going to be our last christmas with his oma who isnt doing so good. and it just twisted me up a little but was othewrsiwse a great day. but then sunday i just...had a huge breakdown in the morning and decided to use my accomodation (i get 2 excused absenses a month) to cool down and gte myself together. slept a lot. woke up adn got a lot done, felt great, then i CRASHED really really bad, got really angry, lashed otu, took like...8-10 sleeping pills...theyre horrific things and im never doing that again...had to sleep for two days after that...felt horrifically sick, in pain, just awful. had repeating nightmares over and over. which has also been wearing me down recently. wasnt able to work monday either because i still couldnt stand and between the pills and the depression/anxiety and really just. felt like the world was ending.

decided sometime last night id just...try my best to make it in today, work my shift (really long 9-6, knowing i wouldnt leave on time nad htisis my first time working in 5 days now...which is rough...) and if i can get through this, i have another couple days off in a row after that (schedules fault, not mine...do feel awful i missed 3 days before that though...) and we can just. get back on track

today i DID go to work, jessie drove me in

i worked. a long time. im supposed to get a break every 2 hours and a 1 hour lunch

i gott my first break on timeish.

then i got my lunch 6 hours after i got in. at which time i got “locked out” for not taking my lunch and coudlnt do anything on the registers. i was supposed to get it 4 hours in. its christmas eve and excruciating and im still in pain and tired from my previous days breakdowns, but otherwise?? i did really good. i didnt mind at all that my lunch was so late. i was a little miffed, but its ok. i dont care, so long as i get it eventually. anyway they FINALLY noticed i was locked out and got me coverage and i ended my lunch at 4. things continued ok. worked on self checkout, met a lot of regulars i really like, prevented $200 of theft (HAHA WOW that was really really funny i love preventing petty theft. i prevent so much theft every week its my pride and joy) just did okay. then they had us close self checkout that took a little while. then at 5:00-5:10 or so i went to my Manager/Supervisor/”““People LEad” as walmart is now trying to call them, lets call her manager Y, and i told her i still need my break and will i get it before i leave. she said go to register 4. i asked again hey will i get my break though and she said yeah and i thought to mysel HAHA thats not going to happen but ok

really stupid that after bieng locked out the first time she couldnt give me my break before i openned a register with a line i cant get rid of

anywayy i did ok otherwise for a while

but at 5:25 or so i reminded a CSM “hey i need my break still can i get that?” and she just ssaid yeah well try to get someone and then more time passed so much time. i put through an ask on the register “assistance needed”. waited another 10 minutes. “assistance needed” again. starting to get anxious. its past 5:40. the line is so long. theres so MUCH NOISE. Its SO LOUD. the intercom keeps going off, no one is responding to me, i dont have a mat to stand on so my knees HURT,, im not doing okk

i switch my light to flashing/need assistance and start looking for someone to ask for help. its 5:45, i need my break NOW, i DESERVE IT for workng this long ass shift and they already missed several of my last breaks a week ago AND got me locked out today and im STARTING TO GET ANXIOUS PELASE I JUST WANT MY BREAK SO BAD

nnthgen a csm is passing by im about to lose it, so i tell her CSM J, please i really need my break now PLEASE and im starting to ccry and i try to tell her whats going on but she shushes me and goes and gets sometone
