Summary:

Emory Arrowgant thought he was safely dead. Then his psychopomp boyfriend, Isaac Yong, yanked him back to the land of the living. If only Isaac had been successful. Torn from the White City and stuck in the slipstream haze of the radio, Emory must help Isaac solve the mystery of his murder in order to be laid to rest. But Emory’s not the only thing that Isaac brought back. All sorts of undead horrors have slipped through the crack in reality created by Isaac’s rituals. And Isaac is honor-bound to hunt them down--if the Glassfall police don’t put him away first. What they’ll soon learn, though, is that the botched necromancy, the monsters, and Emory’s murder are all connected. After all, Isaac wasn’t the only necromancer in town that night. And Emory isn’t the only ghost.

About: Isaac has always been known for being a kind and gentle person. He's always been easy going and level headed, trying to make peace of any confrontation or events that come his way. Isaac is also known for being helpful and selfless, always wanting to help others the best he can. With enduring many tragedies in life he's overcome, he now tries everything to maintain a stable and peaceful life, wanting to follow his dream of becoming a doctor and marrying his childhood best friend and fiancé, Rosemary.

When Isaac was born, he wasn't going to make it, born not crying, barely a heart beat or breath, having his parents prepare to lose his. Suddenly a miracle happened where he suddenly came back to life, letting everyone hear his first cry. It was unknown what exactly kept him alive, but he fought to live and low and behold did.

Isaac was diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age due to having nightmares, visions, and "voices" he would talk to of the devil and archangel Michael supposedly talking to him. He would see visions of hell and heaven, angels and demons, and even claiming to see God himself. Concerning his family, he was treated for schizophrenia at the early age of 5, but oddly even with treatment like medications, the visions and "voices" didn't go away. In fact the older he got the more prevalent the supposed symptoms got. On top of the symptoms, Isaac became a SEVERE insomniac, rarely getting sleep making his struggle worse.

It only got worse when Isaac's father became diagnosed with cancer, dying when Isaac was 18, right around the time he was trying to get into college to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor. The tragedy having Isaac even more of a mess, thinking even more irrationally, turning to drugs to be able to cope and get through school. Luckily his family and girlfriend helped him get help, sending him to rehab helping his have a new lease on life.

Despite still struggling with his "schizophrenia", Isaac learned even better mental health care and coping, making sure to focus on rebuilding his life.

As Isaac turned 27, finishing his last semester before medical school, his symptoms came back with a vengeance, trying to push it back as nothing new, Isaac meets a man in all black coming to tell him "it's time he learns the truth about himself and who he really is". Isaac of course thought this was just a crazy stranger, but soon Isaac learns the truth.

Isaac didn't just survive his day of birth as a random miracle, he was meant to die, but was also having his new born stolen by a powerful, rogue demon, known as Samael, where he was saved at the last minute having Lucifer, the devil, and Archangel Michael come to save his soul from Samael's clutches and plans. This in turn corrupted his pure and mortal new born soul to become tainted by their opposite essences bringing him back to life as a hybridization of what was thought impossible to exist. All this time, Isaac wasn't schizophrenic, seeing just random religious psychosis, his powers as a corrupted hybrid between the devil and archangel Michael was trying to manifest and awaken.

Isaac as his powers and true identity finally begin to unleash and manifest, learns he must help both the forces of hell and heaven stop Samael from his plans to create an artificial apocalypse to become the new God of existence destroying everything.

PLOT

On the Planet Mobius, all is quiet. The population of Humans and Mobians alike live in harmony. Or so it seems. Under the shining exterior, a cold war between extremists and the government is starting to boil over. Dr. Christine King Farris (September 11, 1927 - June 29, 2023) civil rights activist and professor was born in Atlanta to Alberta Christine Williams King and Martin Luther King, Sr. She was the eldest of three children: her younger siblings were Martin Luther King, Jr., and Alfred Daniel (A.D.) Williams King. She and her family belonged to Ebenezer Baptist Church, where her father preached. She attended Yonge Street Elementary School, famous for its organization of the first African American PTA, before transferring to Oglethorpe Elementary. She attended Atlanta University’s Laboratory High School, and when it closed, she enrolled at Booker T. Washington High School, which her grandfather helped to found. She graduated from Washington High School and entered Spelman College, where her grandmother, mother, and great-aunt had all matriculated.

She graduated from Spelman College with her BA in Economics. She graduated from Columbia University with her MA in Education. She earned a second MA from Columbia University in Special Education. She took her first job as a teacher at W.H. Crogman Elementary. She was hired as director of the freshman reading program at Spelman College and became director of the Learning Resources Center. She was Spelman’s longest-serving faculty member. When Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., led the campaign to vote in Selma, she sang at the opening rally on the day they departed for Montgomery. She served as the treasurer and taught workshops on nonviolence at the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change. She founded the Martin Luther King, Jr. Child Development Center.

The recipient of the Fannie Lou Hamer Award, she helped establish the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Site. She was the author of the acclaimed children’s book, My Brother Martin, and of an autobiography, Through It All: Reflections on My Life, My Family, and My Faith. Father Jun AND Lai??? Noooooo 😭😭😭😭😭

THE WRITERS ARE EVIL THIS SEASON 

I can’t even be properly happy about Nellie returning after being MIA for three episodes!

The opening scene with Lai going after Dickland alone was nerve wracking! At least she killed the asshole henchman with the whip. We know Dickland was a soldier and trained with the sword. Lai is a badass, but she’s too angry and not strategic enough. I wish it was different, but Dickland is literally the final boss. He won’t be taken down this easily. The way he was taunting her and giving her sword back ughh the arrogance! 

Every time I see Ah Toy I’m like “ma’am why aren’t you looking for your daughter??” But I know it’s actually the writers fault. We don’t know Lai’s dead until Nellie brings her body back to Ah Toy. Imagine losing your vineyard, your wife breaking up with you, and suddenly your daughter’s dead body is dumped at your door. Ah Toy knows she can’t blame this one on Nellie. She brought Lai back to Chinatown and now she’s dead. Ah Toy and Nellie cleaning Lai’s body for burial.

Nellie: “She deserves Justice.”

Ah Toy: “Justice come in many ways.”

Nellie: “Yes.”

Ohhhhh hell yeah, they’re really doing this! Nellie doesn’t give a single fuck anymore! The system is rigged, time for Justice their way! Ah Toy and Nellie are ride or die for revenge together! I hope they kill that bastard painfully and avenge their girls!

I knew Father Jun was coming, but damn it didn’t hurt any less. Poor Young Jun! Their relationship wasn’t perfect, but they still loved each other. Even if Father Jun didn’t say it back. In the end, he became like Long Zhii. He didn’t want a slow, agonizing death. He fought for everything he had, and went out on his own terms. RIP to a Warrior legend. Chao gave a very beautiful eulogy at his funeral.

Yan Mi is arrested because Lee recognized her at the wedding. To her credit, she didn’t say anything about the Hop Wei. Instead, it’s Ah Sahm who betrays them to save her. But it was a difficult choice. Love vs Duty is one hell of a battle. Ah Sahm still care about Young Jun, but never belonged in a tong. He was literally bought by them, fresh off the boat. He just want to be a good guy and protect his people. I don’t think he’s getting on that train with Yan Mi, because he still need to complete his hero arc. Watching Ah Sahm and Young Jun’s relationship deteriorate like this is heartbreaking. We got one last scene with them together before all hell breaks loose.

Poor Hong in this episode! He just wanted to have a nice, romantic night with his bf at the gay club! But then he got hit on by a cop. The same cop who put a fucking gun to his head and beat up his people. Of course he would get triggered! NO fucking racist pigs at Pride!!! Then they broke up and it was sad. Ughhhhhhh why must they torture the gays???

Mai Ling and Li Yong going from marriage to divorce real quick. Mai Ling is afraid of him because she knows she made him do terrible shit. But this is literally LI YONG! He always did everything for her, he murdered his best friend/mentor for her! Now she’s treating him like the plague! Though maybe some of it is residual trauma from her first abusive marriage. Li Yong looks like he’s leaving the Long Zhii, so Mai Ling will be extremely vulnerable. 

Chao is confronted by Happy Jack’s crew and their new leader, Isaac. Chao being Chao, cuts a deal with them by spilling the location of the plates. Hop Wei, Long Zhi, Happy Isaac crew, and Secret Service…it’s gonna be a goddamn bloodbath! 

Bill literally fighting his way to a promotion as Police Chief.

I don’t like to talk about Leary but that bar brawl at the end! Made that guy eat wood and busted his jaw open! Daaaammn

This might be a long shot, but I'm wondering if you or anyone else here knows any good resources about the daily lives, work and roles of British victorian librarians? To be more specific, late-1800s London librarians and libraries?

Stuff like how libraries were maintained, how and what kind of books were acquired, how lending worked, accessibility for the poor vs rich/middle class, the daily responsibilities of a librarian, etc.

For context, I'm writing a comic and want to be as historically accurate as possible, but I have a really hard time finding any research material for this for some reason ^^;

So I’ve learned more Stone Ocean dub stuff

So I was looking up Donatello Versus clips because I was curious what Isaac sounded like in this role (also while I do know Jojo’s, I consume it by reading the manga, I stopped watching the anime at the beginning of Part 2, mostly because I thought reading would take less time), and I found one where he’s basically just wanting Pucci to shut up, and so I wonder “hmm, what if Pucci’s voice actor is also in Cookie Run? That’d be funny” so I look up his voice actor, and it’s someone called Yong Yea, whom I hadn’t heard before. So I pull up his IMDB and look at his roles and yes in fact, he is in Cookie Run. As the voice actor of Madeleine Cookie

So basically this clip is just Dark Choco repeatedly telling Madeleine to shut the fuck up, and for some reason that is hilarious to me

(Though it’s a little lessened by the fact that Pucci doesn’t sound like Madeleine. I mean granted, it makes sense, those two are like complete opposites in personality)

Just watched the dubbed version of episode 11 of Angels of Death. Was actually pretty good in my opinion. The elevator scene was actually better. Ya know, where Zack tells Ray about his burns. The actor's voices for this scene seemed to really hit the mark surprisingly. Zack's description of it was a bit more "colorful" as well.

And is it me, or does Zack seem to have more of that snarky attitude in the dub? As far as how the script is written I mean. Cause don't get me wrong, Nobuhiko Okamoto does a flawless performance and portrayal of his character. Love his voice too. :o)

Wasn't overly crazy about the dub in the beginning. But, its gotten progressively better. Or at least better than I expected. To be honest, when the dub version of the show was first announced, I was expecting it to be a LOT worse. My initial thought was, "oh God. This is going to be horrible. They are not going to pull this off. These types of complex characters require a very specific voice cast. They're going to butcher the hell out of it." But hey, for once Funimation surprised me a little. Maybe not perfect. But could've been so much worse.
