hey y'all so i wasn't initially planning on talking about what rashad posted earlier today bc it's literally all bullshit, but i might as well! i’m not actually tripping over anything that’s going on. if anything, i’ve been laughing my ass off all day at this foolishness.

for some background, rashad became mutuals w this girl. right off bat, he’s making hella race jokes ab this girl being white. i b doing the same, but with my FRIENDS. people i am CLOSE WITH. and i don’t over do it because that’s lame and annoying. anyway, she eventually stated that she was uncomfortable and rashad blamed his behavior on the fact that he was on pain meds. she eventually blocked him and told one of her mutuals, and to rashad, that’s her “spreading rumors” about him. he did the most on his page and in ppls inboxes crying and complaining, saying he was gna eat glass and shit.

so now let’s look at his fuckass post:

number one, how can a rumor be started about you if nobody.. knows you? like, you are not a celebrity. nobody talks about you. and nobody was talking about you “being on drugs” other than the girl you made uncomfortable and her two mutuals. i know you send yourself anons too. you make it seems like anyone actually cares about your “hot takes” for some strange reason. don’t even try to deny it, bc there’s no way you’re getting more anon msgs than my friends with larger platforms than yours.

feeling so isolated and its weird bc my dad is here yk. rest of my family is on vacation seeing extended family (i stayed because i am physically unable at the moment, my dad stayed because he never goes places with us) back in florida and im here with him the week although, luckily, he works most of the days. you'd think being home alone would be more isolating but it isnt, when im alone i can talk outloud i can watch movies at a normal volume and laugh and make commentary, i can play music as i cook, hell i can cook and do things at night, i can be myself. but when he's here its completely silent. im not doing anything he can even twist to yell and get mad at- i wash all my dishes after i eat i do all these small acts to erase my existence when im in the room next to him im like a ghost in my own house. and with that the only time we talk is when he finds something he wants me to do. no talking, if i try to talk about something i get no response or a short answer. he had the day off today, i forgot he would for a national holiday, and since 6am i have been sitting in mainly complete silence. i went in my room for a bit to be able to make and hear some noise but i cant for long because i need to watch our family dog and let him out as my dad was sleeping then went out for a bit. i went on a walk too in the morning before it was too hot but with my pain and the heat for my dog i cant just go outside all day. its a very trapping feeling being around just my dad even when hes not angry, its just so unbearable much more so than being alone. not to sound like a complaining loser i think its hitting harder cause i really wanted to go back to see my aunt and uncle and i also dont talk to people much i only talk to one friend, im not close with many ppl it feels like talking to myself and my dog and music and movies and noise is what keeps me sane, you feel me?

I just wanted to say that I really enjoy reading your blog! As someone who has no experience with the community, reading your posts and analyses has been so interesting since it's a perspective I never would have thought of to look at the show from. I think the first posts of yours that I found were about looking at Kinn and Porsche's relationship from a D/s pov and I remember reading it like "WAIT WAIT THIS FITS THEM SO WELL THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE" and just having to read more 😂😂 I was already excited for VegasPete (because of the show's excellent writing, the amazing acting) but your blog has only made me more excited bc I have your analyses to look forward to too!! ��

I also just wanted to say I'm sorry people are giving you so much shit for writing the analyses that you do. While watching KinnPorsche and looking around the fandom, it's annoying seeing ppl who are STILL complaining about how toxic and unhealthy the show/the relationships are.........that's literally the whole point. It's a mafia show full of morally grey characters in morally grey situations, this was never the set up for cute, healthy, wholesome relationships. If that's what you were expecting or hoping for than that's on you for being naive/having unrealistic expectations. And the whole point of having these morally grey characters in morally grey situations is to make you uncomfortable. It's supposed to make you uncomfortable and think bc that's what good art does. And what makes this kikf of art so great is that it allows you to engage with grey/toxic situations and characters in a way that is safe! It's why ppl love horror movies, they can feel scared in a safe environment bc nothing is actually going to happen to them. Like am I excited to see how VegasPete plays out? Ofc! Does that mean I think they are the ideal depiction of a healthy relationship that likes to incorporate bdsm? Good fucking god no. Do I think Vegas is hot? Ofc! Would I actually want to meet Vegas in real life? Oh hELL NO.

I understand if you'd rather not post your thoughts on VegasPete due to the dumb ppl coming your way, but for what it's worth, I really love reading your thoughts, and that's coming from someone who has no experience with the community. Woot! I'm really happy to hear that you've enjoyed my blog. It's comments like this that make it worth it. I enjoy writing this and I came here to get it out for me but knowing other people like it. They don't agree with us but they can't necessarily have an open discussion with us. Because how do you truly debate something you have no understanding or real knowledge of. That's truly the crux of it. Vegas is bad there for in their heads, we shouldn't like him and neither should Pete. He hurt Pete. Okay but Pete likes pain. It's up to Pete whether he forgives Vegas and if he finds redeeming qualities but I'm not exactly crying for Pete. Did you not see him kick someone, shoot someone? He isn't a good guy. This is about two people who are not good finding redeeming qualities in each other. It's not one being good and the other being bad. Anyway. Yes misogyny exists and needs to be fought. No one is saying that we should stop fighting for the women.

But we need to fight for the men too. Toxic masculinity and misandry are part of the problem. The way men and boys are raised and socialised leaves them little option to be anything but violent.

And that's a PROBLEM!!!! and you'll agree with me on that!!!! i know you will since most of your entire argument is "men are violent and that violence is making us women unsafe"!!!!

we need to believe men are human beings. we need to humanise them.

I see jaedo hugs as awkward, maybe it's just me. They're both very aware of the ppl around them and usually try to be quick abt it and try to keep it neutral too.

To the anon, As a bi woman in a very conservative country, I didnt realise I was bi even though I had a major crush on a girl in my school (at 14).

I wasnt the one who realised I might not be straight it was my best friend's boyfriend who pointed out I'm a little too much into a girl in my college, even then I thought it was a normal thing to experience in teenage years. I think I was in my early 20s when I realised I wasnt straight at all. I had more crushes on women then i had one men while being in a relationship with a man for the longest time. So not everyone realises they're gay or bi even if they're flirting and crushing on ppl of their own gender.

There is one Russian man who wrote a book about how it's OK to do "unmanly" things (like manicure). So I picked up a few cases from him and from the YT comments. 1) In one family a boy had dry hands (for people from the hot countries where you can't find damn hand creams in 7/11... yes, Thailand, I'm looking at you... the cold and the dry air in heated up apartments takes the moisture out from the skin and the skin starts to break apart, up till capillaries, so small wounds appear). That boy tried his mother's handcream and it helped. However, his father and older brother saw it and punished him, they forbade him to use handcream because "men don't use women's things". The boy grew up and moved to his own apartment, it took him several years before he gave up and started to use cream to help with his problem. He tolerated dry hands and pain because he was told he can't use cream. 2) In another family a boy was told taking a bath is for women, real men take showers.

There are a lot of "don't do this", "real men/women must do this" in any society. And "boys like girls" is one of the most universal and strongly upheld. One of the reasons why Jaehyun realised his orientation young, is that he thinks for himself, it's hard to change his opinion (that's why Do complains Jae is more stubborn than him).

I'm not saying Doyoung isn't stubborn or doesn't think for himself. When he decides he wants something, he goes for it (like he did with singing or dropping out of school to become an idol). However, the first step is to realise he wants something.

I'm still not 100% sure about Doyoung not knowing about his orientation, so I'm still open to hear out the arguments against. However, as we are debating here, I'm playing for one side, and my role is to find weal points in the opponent's reasonings.

Hot take: Bakugou's character wouldn't survive if not for the one he kept abusing all his life. 90% of his character revolves around his victim and yet the fandom paints him as this super developed, fleshed out character when in reality he'd never be anything bigger than a side character if not for Deku.

Also the concequences he supposedly received are just him being teased or not getting the win he wanted, no being kidnapped doesn't count, he literally got away with his shit while even been treated like a victim and the privilege to know something about Deku that isn't any of his business. And now because he sacrificed himself that one time the fandom acts like Izuku owes his ass anything. It's disgusting.

I have given up on him actually being half the decent character ppl make him out to be and the fandom reaction to him makes me hate him even more.

He's not complex, he's just a pretty boy, asshole archetype who gets nicer and has some more cooperative and ppl love to eat that shit up while making up stuff for him. He changes but he's doesn't change for what matters and definitely pales in comparison to other characters who are better written than him.

Well yeah, if it weren’t for Izuku and how he treats Izuku he wouldn’t have anything to improve from; people only think he’s developed because he no longer outright bullies him and “””worries””” (I say in heavy quotes) about him, and “reflects” on how he treated him even though he.......... comes to the absolute wrongest, most idiotic conclusions imaginable, that put the brunt of the excuses on Izuku instead of himself, but Toshinori validates him because Horikoshi has made Toshi into Bakugou’s uwu stan and stan of the two boys’ “friendship” (completely ignoring the fact that THIS KID FOR TEN YEARS BULLIED HIS SON). He’s basically already been devolved to acting like a side character for a long time now, with his funny anger quirk pun partly intended that’s just treated like a joke at this point, just like everyone else’s character quirks, even though it would be far more interesting for him to, you know. actually get some therapy and learn to calm himself and become an actual pleasant person to be around. But that’s not what makes him “funny”, that’s not him, according to most people, so he’s always going to stay like this, a boring angry pomeranian who flies off the handle at everything for no reason, who has done the absolute bare minimum of “changing”, which makes him a perfect character in everyone’s eyes.

“He changes but doesn’t change for what matters” pretty much sums up the problem with him in a nutshell, and is the exact reason he frustrates me so much, that I’ve ranted about plenty before. Bakugou has never been viewed through the lens of a bully, an abuser, he was never set up to be that, at least not realistically, and so his development hasn’t happened in accordance with that setup either, and people don’t have a problem with it and actively praise it because the manga actively downplay(ed)s the severity of that origin story. People can ignore the reality of how seriously traumatic being bullied for ten years of your childhood, verbally and physically would be, and how seriously and with such sensitivity such a relationship and character arc must be handled, because aside from the very first chapter when Izuku and Bakugou are still in middle school, really, with the “take a swan dive off the roof” comment and others, it’s never focused on in that way ever again; ever since, it’s just been treated as a typical anime “rivalry”, that both of them need to better themselves to overcome. The story and teachers say “the two of them are so alike but they just keep missing each other; if they just made up for each others’ weaknesses and understood that they both want the same thing, they’d be stronger together!”, and Izuku HIMSELF tries so hard to reach through to Bakugou, always still considering him his friend, always feeling like he’s the one equally at fault for their relationship being as rocky as it is, when BAKUGOU!!! FUCKING!!! BULLIED HIM!!! FOR TEN YEARS. bullied a DISABLED CHILD, which again, as a disabled person who relates to Izuku and how he felt about his quirklessness, feelings that continue to affect him even long after he gets a quirk because of how he was treated when he was younger, is DEEPLY unsettling to me. You CANNOT read/watch MHA without the metaphor of quirklessness = disabled being very apparent, and so that makes Bakugou’s bullying and how it is so utterly glossed over and purposefully forgotten a hundred times more disturbing and aggravating than it already is! If this were any other shounen rivalry then yes, it could be resolved with effort from both parties, because both parties have their own personal reasons for why they have trouble getting along with the other, and the fun is watching to see how they will overcome those, but Izuku and Bakugou were never on an equal playing field to begin with; this is a bullying story, with its victim trying desperately to win over and befriend his abuser, when he owes him absolutely NOTHING and has a BOATLOAD of unresolved issues thanks to said bullying, with no outside help from adults for either of them because none of them are acknowledging it as fucking bullying. I guarantee you that if the manga went into much more painful, bleak detail and showed many more flashbacks of how Izuku was treated by Bakugou in the past, and then still continued with the “development” he’s had since, people would be unable to ignore it like they can now, and it would make all of them extremely uncomfortable like it does those of us now who already dislike him. Hori himself has said he doesn’t understand why Bakugou is so popular, but he’s able to just continue as he does with him because no one is complaining, and because he said he regrets making him so awful in the beginning, as if that magically makes it disappear as much as it already has in 90% of the fandom’s collective mind. You wanna know an actual good manga that also deals with a bully of a disabled child growing and improving himself and forming a close relationship with his former victim? A Silent Voice. Such a journey is long, and hard, and it is painful, with many ups and downs and many nasty, hateful, guilt-filled, depression-filled feelings from both sides, along with from other characters who either also partook in the bullying, were bystanders to it who did nothing, or were indirect victims as well. The bully is bullied himself after what he does, and then grows up nearly suicidal, closing himself off and struggling to be social and make new friends because he doesn’t know how and doesn’t entirely feel like he deserves it (and the story notably doesn’t go the route of “he was abused too at home and so that’s why he bullied”), and tries and fails many times to make amends with the person he hurt before he finally is at peace with himself and everyone; the victim, meanwhile, drowns in continued guilt and suicidal feelings over feeling like she’s a burden to others, both from her disability and from watching all the infighting and victim blaming and finger pointing that ensues between her old classmates when all of the nasty emotions are brought back to the surface, along with dealing with budding romantic feelings for her past bully when he genuinely starts being kind towards her and making an effort to connect with her. ASV is entirely about this complex narrative, it’s able to dedicate everything it has to telling this story tactfully and with all the time and attention it needs. MHA, meanwhile, is a shounen battle manga, and so it was never going to do this narrative and Bakugou’s arc justice, even though I honestly think it could have if Hori really wanted to, because Izuku and Toshinori’s relationship has such masterfully subtle and touching emotions and care, at least early on; Horikoshi knows how to write good, subtle character arcs. I’m not asking for something ASV level, of course not, when the series has so many other things it has to juggle. I just wanted Bakugou to be treated as exactly what he is: a former bully, who can be taught, and learn, and reflect, and change, and become a better, more humble, more interesting person, and actually become someone worthy of all the praise and love he gets, not only for Izuku’s sake, but for his own, as well. They don’t excuse his actions in the slightest, but it’s still undeniable that Bakugou himself is a victim of how the adults in his life have treated him and raised his own expectations of himself, giving him the crippling insecurity issues he has, and that they continue to harm him (and Izuku) by simply letting him continue to go on angrily the way he does, instead of getting him help and some therapy in order for him to change and heal from things like being kidnapped by villains (which is no small thing to go through!! on top of his guilt over Toshinori’s final battle!) and becoming a better person to the one he hurt in the past, and it all just makes me so sad, not because I’m all “uwu poor Bakugou”, but just cause his character deserves better, as a person he deserves better, just like Izuku deserves better than everything he’s gone through because of him. This is all just a very long-winded way of agreeing with you OP that yes, none of Bakugou’s “punishments” for his behavior mean anything because he’s punished as a rival student who needs to humble himself in order to get along with his friend he doesn’t like, not as a former(??) bully who needs to be separated from his victim. The bar is set so low, was never set where it should be, and so absolutely no progress to “better himself” Bakugou makes either will mean anything, as long as it’s never acknowledged that he needs to make amends as a bully and abuser.

damn, never thought we'd get here, did we?

in all honesty, it's been a pretty shit year. march 'til now has felt like the same month on repeat with tiny tweaks to make it all so much worse. but i'm not here to complain about the worst parts of this year, i'm here to celebrate the best ones.

this was the year that i finally started writing, that i was finally spurred to open a google doc and just type away until a tiny work of fiction stared back at me. my first one was 1k words, a rant to get all of my emotions off of my chest with an idol as my muse. it felt...great, though it also felt a bit odd writing after being an avid reader for years. i always did prefer essays to creative writing, but this year definitely changed that perspective.

i wrote that first blurb along with another fic in late july, and in early august, i asked my friends if i should post them. om august 3rd, i changed this blog from a fic rec to a fic writing blog just like that. i regret none of it.

it's been nearly five months since i revamped this blog and i couldn't be more grateful for the support i have gotten from all of you, whether it be a kind comment, a like, a reblog, all of it. i never thought anyone would like my content, but i've been proven severely wrong by this community. from my irls that are on here, to my lovely mutuals and followers, to those i've talked to a lil bit on this hellsite, to the writers whose fics i absolutely adore, to those who have left a like or a comment on one of my fics, i want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart ♡

Fruits Basket, SE02, Ep23

Love is in the air is the theme of this ep! All kinds of luv~ for everybody!~ kyo/tohru (main), yuki/machi(new!!), rin/haru(on going), Arisa/Kureno (dead-end?), hiro/kisa (babies to luvers...), hana/tohru/arisa (sisters love!) yuki/kakeru (friendship), momiji/tohru (cutest friendship!) kyo/haru (underrated friendship), hana/kyo/arisa (living to tease*torment* you friendship!XD), kyo/kazuma (parental love!), Haru/kisa (big brother care), yuki’s fanclub (toxic love), hana/food (OTP). What an ep!! One of a kind where you start off crying of laughter & end up crying from broken heart!

-Arisa’s second outburst:

The best thing abt this play is that you can’t tell if they’re following a script or not for the most part. XD, However, for some it IS clear when they bring in their personal feelings. Arisa was fine acting her role with improvised jokes on kyo’s expense. However, due to kyo’s refusal to meet the princess, she got angry to the point of screaming in front of the whole school & visitors? The outburst was treated seriously with climatic music, audience reaction, fellow actors surprise & narrator-san pointing out it IS personal & not scripted. But afterwards arisa is fine. Even though I’m not into love at first sight, I acknowledge it exists in fiction & in reality. No problem. But the extreme intensity of kureno/Arisa’s love is higher than everybody’s without enough basis from those two meetings they had before... Sure, she can fall in love with him, wish him to meet her.. but her outburst is too much, too painful, too heartbreaking. However if you look at her outburst as a plot device to get kureno involved once again & complicate things, bingo, you get why it was planted there. Momiji’s footage will reach him. cool. but too forced in my opinion.. everything abt their interaction is too forced, from her first outburst at his few words that got her to cry her heart out & leave the restaurant & get nearly kissed on the lips to her second outburst in front of the entire school. Arisa likes ppl who are tohru-like. The narrative hints that kureno is tohru-like. First, his clumsiness, second? being content with his unjust life? what is tohru-like abt him so far that gets arisa to scream her heart out? I’m sure we’ll see more of his tohru-like qualities. but so far, it comes across too forced for me.

-Machi SEES the real yuki:

It seems that the confirmation that any female is heading to yuki’s heart is to be bullied by yuki’s fans. lol.  Machi not seeing yuki as a prince is her unique thing. Everybody including tohru see him as a prince & put him in a pedestal. In the play yuki descended from the sky, emerged from underground, said deep lines & glowed. Yet, machi saw thro the acting. I was cheering for yuki to step in & put these toxic girls at their place. Machi can be saved by kakeru’s indirect plan, sure, but this toxic behavior has been going since ep1. tohru was saved from them by hana & arisa. Bullying is always used as a plot device in furuba & unfortunately a comedic gag (there’s an entire ep dedicated for the fanclub). Sure furuba isn’t going to fix every issue or even provide solutions. It can’t. it shouldn’t. bullying is one hell of hard issue to solve. furuba wants to use bullying for plot. no problem. but also decides to comment on it quickly? yuki & kakeru’s argument abt the proper reaction towards bullying with each one of them taking an opposite opinion while machi herself is being bullied behind them felt too philosophical & untimely. Only for all this to end with a gag. Yuki is stuck paying the consequence cuz they’re his fans?.. ok. I’d love if the entire scene didn’t involve this argument. For example, yuki finding the girls, him listening to machi’s opinion abt him, him about to step in & defend her, then kakeru makes a prank abt photo-session with yuki, unknowingly saving the situation. Cuz the whole point of the scene is for yuki to know machi is different & sees the real him! Not that I hate how things played out, it is just furuba’s treatment of the issue of bullying is always weird to me. Similar to its treatment of violence, sometimes it’s serious, sometimes it’s comedy.

-Tohru’s best visual presentation ( show-NOT-tell): YES!

I’ve complained plenty abt furuba not treating tohru with enough visual presentation when it comes to hints for her issues or thoughts. but NOT today! This ep is tohru’s heaven! Tohru was torn apart between too many things & she didn’t inner monologue abt anything, YET, the visual imagery was enough to talk in her behalf!!! They showed tohru’s reaction to arisa, they showed tohru noticing haru/rin connection, they showed tohru react to Hana’s words without showing any of her inner thoughts & it works 100%. I’m so satisfied with this kind of treatment. You can show tons of silent emotions & trust the audience to make the correct conclusions without making your character spoon feed the audience on what they’re feeling. Hana’s “ do you plan to keep on deceiving yourself, locked in the castle, until you die?” is too close for comfort! it triggered kyo to react & say exactly his reasoning behind his decision without bringing the real world “ So what if I do? Does it hurt anyone else?” Kyo is sick of believing that he’s causing harm to his loved ones (mother, father, kazuma, kyoko, tohru). He agrees to be locked till death cuz this way no one will be harmed. ONLY him. he thinks he DESERVE it for existing & causing harm to these same ppl. His response prompts tohru to forget herself & react. What did tohru say? ( you are loved? you need to live? don’t hurt yourself? ) NO. It is NOT abt kyo. it IS abt HER!!! It is the (true form ) scene again but this time symbolically with 10 times harsher consequences!!! kyo’s true form’s final scene is NOT abt kyo deciding to stay, it IS abt tohru saying what she wants. That day tohru talked abt HERSELF. “ I want to listen to your complaints cuz u listened to me”. “ I want us to stay together” By demanding things & acknowledging herself, she got kyo to come back. This time, too, she react cuz SHE wants kyo to stay. “ I wouldn’t..” It is ME. I’ll be hurt if you’re locked. it is abt ME. I need you. I want you. I’m too scared to loose you. You’ve been my true support for long time now. Don’t Leave me, too!!!. Tohru stops herself cuz tohru doesn’t allow herself to want things or even acknowledge that she is worthy of things!! Just focus on her dialogue with others “ if I’m not troubling you, it is forward of me, please allow me” she’s talking to her friends! tohru has the lowest self esteem in furuba!

-Kyo, being an expert on reading tohru, knew the rest of the line. Kyo notices she’s in love with him. but again sinners don;t deserve love! You can’t love monsters? you’ll end up hurt!! hello!! tohru bled in the true form ep. he can’t hurt her again!!! NO way!! Enough causing her pain & tears. “ I wont take anything away from you again” he said in ep, 9. So, kyo forces himself to NOT see the truth. Forces his eyes to close tight. He’s an expert on that. Last ep, his eyes were forced to open to the reality that he doesn’t really hate yuki, but hates himself. Now, you want him to un-hate himself a little & acknowledge tohru’s love? if he did, where will it lead to? they’ll both confess & live together without him telling her abt kyoko?? that’s deceit! Him telling her abt kyko? she won’t forgive him, she’ll hate him! it is better to leave with happy memories than leave after causing tohru harm. Heck! tohru forgiving him or not IS not the issue, at all. the issue is HIM. he can’t forgive himself. he’s unforgivable!

-The most tragic Foreshadowing: (Symbolism DONE Right!)

They meet after the semi-confession, things are not the same anymore! they try to awkwardly get back to normal. Kyo says “ it couldn’t be, (I won’t let my self think it)” we know why. tohru says “ I wont (let my self think it)” WHY?!!! what is the show hiding for tohru? we know kyo’s issue. it is the BEST untold issue!! but tohru? What is stopping her more than her denying herself? it gotta be convincing & deep. otherwise, the writer would ruin the best complicated emotional dilemma that she is building her climax on! I know I’ll like what’s in store for tohru. No way such writer will miss on this. This will be EPIC. The tear between them is one of furuba’s greatest visual symbolism. One image only causing enough heartache to balance & take away the laughter from the entire ep!! One image leaving you with a punch in the gut. leaving you frustrated as to “Nooooooo~ stop! get back together”. I’m not usually into romance as I’m not a romantic person, but furuba has weaved this tale of emotionally abused children with traumatic experiences & tied them together with faint romantic direction & one of the best slow burns in anime! steadily building up their romantic connection without making it forced or in your face or apparent. I still can’t pinpoint when it first happened! Well-done writer & anime team. 10/10 scene!

Narrator-san is the BEST! He kept everybody in check! & did it in style!

I’d like to thank the director for bringing their A+ animators to this ep! Kyo mostly looks hot & handsome but not HD, but there’s this kyo animator that kills the kyo animation!! kyo’d have three long strands of hair on his nose & his eyes would have more light animation than the mono-light. You can TELL the eps they bring this animator on! (such as Se01,Ep5, kagura ep, etc. ) & tohru!!!! my girl was done right!!!! no weird animation, no extra small baby hands, no shoulders that start around chest area, no bangs that are drawn like they suddenly ran out of brown ink mid coloring! lol. yuki is pretty & HD in every ep & so is hana!!

Hana is the prettiest furuba character hands down! 

Let’s be honest, yuki could’ve said 1+1=2 & the school would’ve celebrated his wisdom! XD. I kinda wish he’d deliberately say sth stupid jst for the heck of it. part of breaking the perfect yuki image. XD.

The opening gag of the men ogling kisa is the most unnecessary scene in furuba, eww~ Not funny!

why is every character MUST be part of romantic couple in furuba? Even children? & they have their own mini love complications with jealousy & misunderstanding, pinning & all. lol

Hana was mocking fiction tropes (animosity in families, traditions pressuring youth, helpless heroine, love at first sight! XD, romance for romance, happily ever after romance, main male protagonist loving main female protg, magical beings saving the day). Best play ever!

why does it feel like kyo just came from war? XD. He was in last ep. perhaps cuz he was absent for most of the season after kagura’s ep, with cameos here & there, few lines & not much focus. But they made up for it & brought his face expressions game up! from annoyed, cat ears, love struck, teased, blushing, a white cartoon-ish cat with an orange cat inside his mouth, shirtless hot, childish jealousy for his papa, his fangs, his cat reflexes. Name it & you bet there’s a kyo face for it. XD.

Speaking of funny faces, prince yuki got one today! all thanks to machi. that’s what I call women power! XD.

Fractures Prologue Outline

I was inspired by @muffinlance sending out an outline and so I grace you all with the original outline for the Prologue of Fractures. I managed to stay on it pretty much completely, except for when it comes to the word count.

EVIE I KNOW YOU’RE AN IDIOT BECAUSE I AM YOU SO DON’T FORGET: Zuko was imprisoned at 13, was there for 3 years, we don’t go into detail cause you don’t want it rated M now do you? You don’t. He was released two days after Sozin’s Comet.

Why is the Gaang not in the Fire Nation? Who knows. They’re not though. Ignore that Iroh would probably be smarter than that, I don’t care. You can figure it out, Future Evie. We are a master procrastinator, afterall.

So here’s the deal: zuzu’s been hurt, tortured, traumatized, all the things and all of them are bad. Shyu (the only valid Fire Sage) comes down like “hey youre firelord now.” Zuko is understandably shocked but he’s not complaining i mean-

So there’s Keeli, who gave him food, and Ming and Lee, two of the guards at his cell. (other guards to be introduced later).

Zuko meets Pim and two irrelevant-yet-named servants. He is so kind. So good. There is much shock. What? A Royal treating servants like human beings??? Blasphemy.

So Zuko gets crowned and even tho his legs are jacked up he stands up and its very dramatic and very beautiful omg i cri evry tiem,,,

Then we have a royal party to attend but UH OH its boring so Zuko dips and goes to the commonfolk party (spoiler alert: he has more fun) (spoiler-spoiler alert: commmon ppl will LOVE HIM if he keeps this up (spoiler alert to spoiler alert: he keeps it up))

Zuko should probably take a bath somewhere in there.

Time skip to next morning after a night of nightmares (no need to go in depth for these just mention that they happen). Zuko’s got a meeting with the council and it doesnt go so hot and so he’s like ‘man our government sucks i gotta change that’ (wait is it a coup or revolution if youre the firelord? i dont know the school system has failed me).

Squeeze in meeting two new people who were also guards: Tyne and Anzo. They’re married, Tyne is Lee’s sister.

REMEMBER THAT TYNE AND LEE ARE FIREBENDERS.

On that note, Zuko’s firebending is messed up.

Reveal to ONLY THE READER that Lu Ten is alive and married to Keeli (and they have the MUNCHKINS).

Zuko goes to the Boiling Rock bc plot convenience, finds Mai and Ty Lee. Awkward reunion? Probably.

Zuko finds Suki and Hakoda in the Boiling Rock. Hakoda is cold, Suki is too. It’s not just because they were born in the southern half of the world (heh puns)

Zuko takes them back with him cause he’s a good boi and they are very obviosuly injured and he ONLY HAS PURE INTENTIONS WHY CANT THINGS JUST WORK OUT FOR HIM (i shouldnt be saying these things im the one writing this fucking outline).

Zuko has a panic attack for some reason because hes got t r a u m a .

Cut to Hakoda’s POV and like what he thinks about Zuko and stuff.

Ride back in the carriage, show zuko OBVIOSULY overworking himself. Pim being a badass and getting CHARCTER. Maybe she like punches someone.

Time skip again, get some bonding with Keeli in there if possible (better be possible). Zuko suspects a prison guy of embezzlement or some shit and goes to investigate HIMSELF because we need the plot to progress somehow. It’s an old waterbender prison.

SPOILER ALERT: HE FINDS KYAAAA

Kya is a badass tho and we love her and shes so strong and she sees RIGHT THRU zuko bc shes not an IDIOT (ahem hakoda).

Hakoda and Kya reunite and its beautiful and there better be tearsss.

Okay this might end up being around 25000 words instead.

Zuko works to like improve relations with the guests he has now, readers get a little inside look on a few different people.

IMPORTANT ENDING: ENDING IS AN ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT!!! I REPEAT: AN ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure to end the prologue with a KNIFE IN ZUKO’S SHOULDER and nothing else because making readers feel pain is glorious.

The Beach Episode

we get there and it stinks of magic, we both look at each other n confusion and outrage, as a couple of beach kids. (Shan and Ami are both from beach towns, be it very different ones. they are fully offended)

Lucifer: what’s wrong    Shan: where’s the dead seaweed smell??? The salt?? The beach fleas???  Asmo, behind us: the WHAT Ami: The fucking crabs?! The sea spray???? THE HOT ASS SHARP SAND?!

both of us: THIS ISNT A BEACH ITS A LIE     Lucifer,, getting a headache: yes it’s not. It’s magic   Shan: I want a refund     Lucifer: you?? Didn’t pay to be here???

Beel: I think you made them cry? (Shan is sad crying, Ami is mad its fake and crying about it)

and it’s super funny cuz Lucifer did all this work to get everyone vacation and we’re just being brats. its also the first time Lucifer sees Ami actually sad and theres like half an ounce of feeling about it. but only that little.

Lucifer: you can’t even tell this is a fake beach    Shan: I have four years and a piece of paper that say I fucking do

We get over it, do the episode but at the end demand to take the boys to a real beach

Alternately - Everyone: okay time to go swi- Shan: *already running full speed into the water*  Ami: adamantly not going near it because fear of sea monsters

Satan: *opens his mouth*    Shan: I know more than you

Shan goes and gets Ami buckets of water for her sandcastle and mammon yanks it out of her hand so he can do it instead

Ami but quietly: let him do the thing and hug me while he does it. win win

Mammon complains about that too, he is informed he can only do one at a time. hes still upset he cant do both.

Shan: *hugs you whine he does stuff for you* Mammon: hey! Stop touching her! I’m the only one that gets to hug her! Shan: okay so I’ll get the things for Ami.  Mammon: no! I’ll-    Shan: you only get to do one

Shan and Mammon get in an argument about who gets to do what and Ami goes up to Beel like 'im scared of the water but i need some, can u help me?' hes got like 4 buckets. Theyre sad but Beel and Ami have made a magnificent sandcastle.

Ami has, at some point, while hiding behind Beel, squirt sunblock on Lucifer's pants. like a 12 year old boy.

We get the boys to a real beach and  they’re all like ‘this is exactly like Diavolo’s magic beach’ and then Shan slaps them with seaweed. Ami already has a dead fish in hand and ready to chuck it at the next idiot to say theyre the same.

Shan and Ami go crabbing and they come back with one or two and r very excited and then beel eats them. Shan has a sad.

Shan: :( they were my friends. I was going to introduce them to Levi

depending on where the beach actually is, Ami has caught a catfish Satan: But you didn't have a pole? how? Me: its a catfish, cityboy. u stick ur hand n a hole and when something bites u pull it out and avoid the barbs

Shan finds all the invasive species of crabs and let beel eat those guys

Satan: I read in a book Shan: I ReAd In A bOoK - *grabs more crabs with my bare ass hands*

ppl would stare at us and hit on all the boys tho. too many pretty boys in one place for that to not happen

Ami has a slingshot shoddily made of drift wood and a hair band, and a jellyfish in it. She starts beaming girl’s in the face who get too close to Mammon or Beel. Shan is cheering her on (So is Blphie but not for the same reason)

Satan is also enjoying the violence 

Shan gets buried in the sand: I am the sand guardian, guardian of the sand! Posideon quivers before me!!!!  Lucifer: Luke doesn’t even quiver before you

Me, having climbed a tallish rock: WITNESS ME! Plicks Lucifer in the head with another jellyfish  Lucifer: WE ARE GOING HOME

Lucifer has several more grey hairs going home than he did arriving

Shan has sunburn from head to toe; in immense pain. Ami only ever gets sunburn on her shoulders (hence the freckling there) and her nose/cheeks.  Ami starts peeling and flicks the dead skin at Asmo as torture. Shan hates it.

We both pretend Shan is dying from the sunburn to fuck with the boys, as Amk has slapped the shit out of her back, but with a handful of AngelAloe stolen from the botany class (she plucked a piece and regrew it in her room) and the boys just see Ami holding ooze on Shan’s back who is trying to not scream and they play it up.

“Shes dying! The sunburn is making her leak out all her internal goo! Guys she’s gunna leak to death!“ Theyre in a panic. Shan starts playing along cus its funny, but then it turns out that mammon and beel both grab her, no aloe, and shes yelling all over again. Ami is laughing too hard to tell them that theyre actually hurting her now tho.

Lucifer doesn’t bother punishing any one because everyones already punished themselves in this scenario, but human anatomy books start popping up around the house

i’ve seen two very dumb takes so far:

1. “guess you haven’t been paying attention sweatie ;) ;) dany’s *evilness* was set up all the way in season 1…but some of yall stan a white lady too hard” 

i would like to disabuse some folks of the notion that the rest of us were blind to dany’s evolution. we weren’t. the problem with this evolution was that it was handled poorly. very poorly. dany always “failed up” on the show, meaning that the show runners never let her dip her toe too much in being unlikable during her adventures in Essos. that moment when she comes out of a burning dothraki hut like some ethereal goddess? i remember rolling my eyes hard at the imagery back then but in the context of the show it was framed as absolutely awe-inspiring and heroic, while the dothraki men in question were portrayed as backward hicks who couldn’t appreciate Female Power™. was there a frisson of “uh-oh” in it? sure, but always back-pedaled by dany’s overall “good intentions”.

this has been the show’s agenda with dany since day one: little accountability, big wins, sweeping mythology. instead of letting this grandeur really get to dany’s head (as it kind of does in the books), they’ve always made her hyperaware of her power and have emphasized her “mercy” and “good heart”. hell, back in S7 this is one of the reasons jon “falls” for her. she seems much more than another conqueror. and she is. but the internal conflict between “targaryen and yet not like my ancestors” is/was never properly addressed. remember those couple of scenes in S5 where barristan tries to talk to her about her family? yeah…me too. 

SO. let’s recap. in order to get to 8x05, the writers needed WAY more build-up than “she burns the tarlys”. as late as 8x03 dany was charging into battle trying to save people. remember their initial plan was to wait for the NK. jon wants to “stop” her from going to save the fighters. let me repeat that: dany is the one who decides enough is enough, she is going to try and save the northerners even if the NK never shows up. jon is content to watch ppl die.  to go from this to what we saw in 8x05 is deeply flawed, amateurish writing. these putzes (d&d) were offered 10 episodes by HBO, at the very least, but they are clearly so fed up with this project they decided to streamline it. 

again, the problem was never dark!dany but d&d not being comfortable or competent enough to explore it believably. earlier seasons indulge in her triumphalism and bank on her unquestioned “humanity” to the detriment of her nosedive in season 8. in other words, d&d wanted to stretch her heroic status for as long as possible. the folks who are claiming “women can be villains too! uwu! this is feminism!” ignore the fact that d&d couldnt be arsed to build dany’s descent because they never really thought about her as a true female villain/antihero to be reckoned with. ALSO they really put their foot in it with missandei and rhaegal, because it painted dany as a woman who is lashing out out of pain, and the audience responded to that. like, they made it easy to root for her when we are supposed to see her hubris. she is supposed to tragically echo her father and viserys, but instead she resembles rhaegar fighting for the woman he loves (in this case missandei, and by extension all the ppl dany lost). i do think they’re still sticking with “dany’s story is a tragedy” from grrm’s outline but it’s just….a mess. i wouldn’t have minded an episode like this with proper build-up and with more interesting stakes. that moment where dany tells tyrion that the ppl of KL are to blame for “standing with cersei” does not gel with her attitude in the north. there should’ve been more time between her arc in the north and the one in KL. they should’ve cared more about this character. and i am a person who was never terribly invested in dany, though i followed her journey with interest, but am going to be no. 1 stan out of spite lol 

second take that’s very VERY dumb

2. “this isn’t misogyny. other female characters on the show had a tough life too! and didn’t lose their mind! look at sansa!”

have yall really forgotten that in 8x04 sansa literally told sandor that rape made her strong and that welp, i guess women need that shit in their life, otherwise they’ll never grow? Hardened Woman! Sansa Stark has managed to fool ppl into thinking she has been given dimension when in fact, a lot of her attitudes and goals from season 6 onward make little sense. 

other ppl gave yara as an example. yara who is so emotionally stunted on the show she has to treat theon with disgust and contempt because he doesn’t have the “balls”. yara/asha in the books is a tough cookie, sure, but she is allowed to show emotion and be a human being instead of a walking stereotype. 

other ppl gave lyanna mormont as an example. the “cute” no nonsense little girl who is tough as balls! what a badass! died like a bamf! what did we know about her? every single one of her scenes was her spouting some watered down version of “Grrrl Power” straight from d&d’s unread copy of “the female eunuch”. i distinctly recall her being part of a discussion where she scoffs at knitting socks as a war effort. she wants to fight! making sure ppl are clothed in winter is a joke!! girlie girls have cooties and any kind of “feminine” pursuit must be discredited. yes, what a feminist hero. 

let’s not even talk about arya-bot-9000. or brienne of tarth telling jaime he complains “like a woman” and on and on. 

all these women are Strong because they are basically Robots. 

the minor female characters who shine on this show do so because d&d haven’t bothered to give them any Cool Dudebro Lines. basically, they have been ignored, which was their saving grace. 

what i’m trying to say is ppl have to stop drinking the kool aid. 

you enjoyed the episode? fine. it’s a visual feast (although i think that so many panoramic set pieces drain the show and cheapen it, and also hide a lot of bad writing because hey, pretty spectacle!). you want to convince others this was masterful storytelling? or worse, you want to condescend and tell us we did not watch this show “right” and you know better? 

(also, istg i saw a “hot” take on quora about how viewers who don’t accept this piss-poor writing for dany are like “season 1!sansa” clinging naively to joffrey, unable to see the cracks below the surface. whew chille, people are really unleashing their inner dumbass.)

anyway Playmaker was probably too shocked to show the dramatic reaction that they wanted and had to process what’s going on first. ALSO did they just forget that he legit JUST woke up from a trauma-induced nap after being emotionally traumatized by his duel with Hot Dog Man like come on. 

But, I knew Playmaker was upset b/c OBVIOUSLY, but I was unsure about the extent of that anger and hurt, so seeing Playmaker brush off his trauma-induced pain as “nothing compared to Soulburner’s” after hearing Soulburner say he had nothing to live for until he met Playmaker is just.

I don't think Scott cares either, but I do think there's a deeper, more thoughtful conversation to be had here about the commercialization of their personal relationship and how much actual performance goes into the branding of this pairing. And that's a discussion I think shippers don't want to have (or don't have the capacity to have) because they're too busy squeeing over every morsel Tessa occasionally sends them.

it’s something shippers resolutely refuse to think about tbh - the performativeness of vm’s relationship, the power of that performance, and the perlocutionary force of that performance on an audience. they want to believe that vm’s skating comes from a genuine, authentic place of love and appreciation for each other - that they’re not acting for the cameras and faking a love they’re going to discard as soon as their four minutes on the ice are up. which, depending on what mood i’m in, is a perspective i find alternately sweet, naive, and ANNOYING AS FUCK

tessa and scott absolutely, 100%, without a doubt, play up their relationship for the media. why do you think they do their hug in full view of dozens of cameras instead of doing it backstage? why does scott keep feeling her up in the middle of practice where anyone and everyone (including the judges who attend every practice session) can see? why do they sit so close and gaze at each other like two lovelorn does in a field of fuckin daisies? why does tessa keep posting instagram shots of them lookin straight up like they’re in a softcore porn? because they’re actually in love? maybe. because they’re trying to sell a narrative? definitely. meryl and charlie talked about this after they won gold in sochi - he hid his high-profile, longtime girlfriend from the media because the judges needed to see davis and white as a TEAM, and they couldn’t effectively sell that story if ppl were constantly being reminded of charlie’s girlfriend behind the scenes. all the way up to the sochi olympics, meryl and charlie hemmed and hawed about whether they were a real life couple - watch some interviews back, it is straight up the same ‘what a compliment!’ spiel we’ve been getting from vm. at the time, charlie had been dating tanith for four years, and meryl had been dating fedor for two - they are now married (or about to be) to those same people. which is all to say that in 2014 d/w were stringing everyone along for a ride. skaters are constantly performing, all the time, on social media, in interviews, in fluff pieces. they are trying to SELL you something - a story, an emotion, a feeling. charlie hid tanith from his social media, talked about how thrilling it was discovering his ‘new chemistry’ with meryl and sat on top of meryl looking lovingly at her in every interview. the act of performing in ice dance is not constrained to the ice rink. for all the top teams, it extends off the ice as well - the narrative doesn’t stop when your music stops. 

it goes without saying that vm were better at selling this story than dw. because they have chemistry, because they’re actually in love, because they’re more talented - pick whatever reason you want. as soon as they won their gold medal, the hemming and hawing from dw about whether or not they were dating stopped. meryl and charlie had nothing left to sell, so charlie paraded his girlfriend around and sold exclusive photos of him and tanith to magazines. they were retired so he was done selling this fake romance with meryl. so why aren’t vm done? because they are so much BETTER at this than davis/white were. no one really believed the romance angle even when dw were so desperately trying to play it up - as soon as was humanly possibly, the audience writ large decided to ship meryl with someone else. there was no breathless media coverage about dw’s relationship status, no legions of dw shippers, no hundreds of thinkpieces about whether or not dw were dating. vm sold their romance so well at the pyeongchang olympics that i think they themselves were taken aback by the media coverage around it. every time a journalist geared up to ask the dating question, you could see the pained smile and the exhaustion and the ‘oh god not this again’ starting to dawn in their eyes. they wanted people to talk about their skating, not their relationship status. or so they said.

a month ago, scott was complaining that the media was ‘cheapening’ their relationship and tessa was telling reporters that she’s so ‘protective’ of their relationship because it’s so important to her. cut to mid-april and tessa is using their relationship, and more importantly the implication of a romantic relationship, to pimp her personal sponsor and sell lotion. which is fuckin rich? all we heard for weeks was how sick of the dating question they were, and how much they wished people would talk about their skating. she is now exploiting something they pointedly said they did not want to exploit a month and a half ago. 

so what’s my hot take? it’s that tessa has realized that the two of them are nothing without each other. dw were a team, but they are not a brand like vm are a brand. vm and whatever they want to do in the future are now inexorably linked to each other - they sold their fake romance TOO well at the olympics and now no one cares about one without the other (unless one is getting drunk off his ass at a hockey game and yelling obscenities at the ref). the nivea thing is…..whatever. i don’t really care about that. its icky to me as a law student that she’s profiting off his image and likeness but i guess i’m just litigious by nature lmao - i accept that not everyone else feels the same way. i don’t think she was malicious about it…….but she was calculated. and it’s bizarre to me that shippers are trying to claim otherwise. the pair of them have spent the better part of the last month and a half simultaneously playing coy about their relationship status and then acted like it’s everyone else’s fault for talking about their relationship. they have played into every part of the intrigue that comes with the dating question, and then acted annoyed people were talking about whether they’re dating or not. they are constantly trying to have their cake and eat it too. unlike dw, they can’t just stop selling their story at the olympics - their lives and their relationship with each other have become the story, and they’re going to have to keep it up now that there are things to sell other than a figure skating program to the judges. 

do i think it’s all fake? no. i think they genuinely love and respect each other in ways that can’t be quantified by dollars. do i think it’s all real? no. they have spent their whole lives trying to sell a story to the judges…and have gotten so good at it, they are now selling it to the public where they (or she) can reap rewards far more valuable than a hunk of fake gold. 

but i dont expect people who are wilfully blind to the part performance plays in their relationship on the ice to be sharp enough to recognize the role it plays in their relationship off the ice…….so whatever lol
