I feel like debating who Loki was talking to when he said "For You" in the last episode, is missing the point of the scene. And people referring to it as "cowardly" and a "no-homo" moment is just?? Baffling to me tbh because like;

First of all, it is obviously intended to be to both of them? If they only wanted to make it about Sylvie, Mobius wouldn't be there. If they only wanted to make it about Mobius, Sylvie wouldn't be there. If they wanted to make it about everyone they would've just framed it more equally, he does do it for all his friends ("for all of us"), but they have that scene to highlight these two specific relationships. The framing is quite clear, they have him take a last look at all of his friends before going down the stairs, but Mobius and Sylvie runs after him to have a final significant moment.

Which absolutely makes sense and is consistent with the show we have seen so far, s1 and s2 combined, which is what I love about it. And it was to be honest a surprise! Going into this season, I had little hope for Loki/Mobius interactions, just didn't want to expect too much since S1 had a lot of their connection, but that could've been it. I was shocked when s2ep1 was full to the brim with Loki and Mobius scenes? And then they kept reinforcing every week that they care about each other, is a funny duo to watch, and are important to one another.

And despite this, I expected the rug to at some point be pulled, especially compared to Loki's relationship to Sylvie. No matter people's personal viewing on the show, she is still cited as a love interest by showrunners and is just portrayed as that by the narrative a lot of the time. Sidelining that, even in s2 when the romantic hints are more vague, she's still a very important person in Loki's life. She played a central part of the plot and Loki's own character development of understanding himself.

So to me, I was surprised seeing Mobius and Sylvie side by side in the end. Both being framed as The important people in Loki's life. Then, however you wanna see in what ways they are important is up to you, but they are the people he keeps coming back to for advice and self-reflection. You can frame it as "oh it should've been only been Mobius and they added Sylvie to downplay it", which, I just disagree with (If they wanted to go for explicitly canon Lokius they needed to set that up even more earlier in the season but that's a post for another day). Sylvie is still like, a constant in the narrative and driving force of s1, even if s2 changes things around a bit, and imo it would be inconsistent if she just vanished here. I guess I am used to media that downplays a meaningful dynamic between two dudes in more aggressive ways, which they absolutely could've done, and would've taken me out of the story to be honest... but they didn't, Mobius and Sylvie got to be side by side in the end and that imo validated the Loki/Mobius dynamic way more than downplays it.

TLDR; The "For you" was for both Mobius and Sylvie because why would you frame it that way otherwise, and having them side by side like that validates Lokius way more than downplays it in a "no-homo" way considering the full context of the show.

I’m having such a hard time wrapping my brain around marcille’s resurrection of falin because. Yes, certain magics are riskier than others and banned for a reason. But are they REALLY as dangerous and treacherous as everyone believes? Yes, falin shouldn’t have died in the first place but why disrupt the natural order of things just because you can? Why shouldn’t they just accept her death as any other- accidents happen to many. Is there even an actual “natural” order anymore? Is falin a chimera because of the mad mage or because of marcille’s use of dark magic? Or both? Why is dragon meat bad but goat’s meat fine? Is the magic of the dungeon not just as dangerous? Was it not CREATED with a form of dark magic? Should I even be calling it black magic considering the wording?? Is falin’s resurrection a special case? What even MAKES the magic marcille used “black”… all she did was draw on energy from her surroundings instead of using only falin’s body to resurrect itself. Did she Come Back Wrong because her body parts were shuffled around too much? Mahito from jjk would find all of this extremely interesting. Also, if that kind of thing is possible, who’s to say you CAN’T consume parts of yourself to fix the problems associated with aging? I don’t need sleep I need answers (that I will probably find in the manga).

The reveal of primal malzeno as sunbreak’s final boss ended up postponing the malzeno vid, so UHC will be waiting till the last title update to continue working on it.

Instead we got a seltas vid, and while I didn’t have a part in this one since I’m mostly the phylogenetics and anatomy guy, @krmoaten-blog made art for the video so go give her a follow. And also I prompted an interesting conversation between my fellow poopenshitters about the pincers on seltas queen.

Seltas are obviously meant to be rhinoceros beetles since Capcom modeled the male’s anatomy as closely to Dynastinae as they could with 3DS graphics (and rhinoceros beetles are kinda big in Japan so it was only a matter of time till we got a monster of one), and they even gave him an aedeagus! The insect equivalent of a penis. The mantid-like claws aren’t really indicative of evolutionary relation since raptorial appendages are a pretty easy thing to evolve in arthropods.

The queens are pretty odd though and are almost larviform in anatomy. And while she also matches up with beetle anatomy pretty well, her pincers threw me for a loop since beetles don’t have abdomen pincers. At first I thought they were derived from parts of the vagina but after bugging @revretch about it it seems that there isn’t a part of the vagina that can be modified into pincers. So the theory I came up with and shared is that it’s a modified forked aedeagus.

My theory is that seltas queens don’t face too much pressure to retain normal reproductive systems since they’re making 100% of the decisions when it comes to reproduction, and eventually became intersex like moles but with weird aedeaguses. Eventually they evolved to actually put those aedeaguses to use by giving them joints to hold onto mates during reproduction and it just kinda went from there.

So tldr, there are no female seltas. Only males and hulking cannibalistic “queens”.

As far as my thoughts on them go I think they’re amazing and seltas is definitely the best beginner monster. I also love their designs and seltas queen is a giant arthropod done right, with her massive columnar legs that don’t end in points. Whenever I design giant arthropods I actually reference her.

Now THAT is a haunting image. Evil Wolverine sitting on his throne backed by the darkness of his own legacy as he like… happily inspects Sakura’s lifeless body. 

Awful. Just terrible. 

But also I am PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE of looking at this without commenting on the sheer extent of his tacky taste once again I'm so sorry I can't help myself. Like COME ON. A GIANT rendition of his symbol behind him on the wall, just in front of the throne, MADE OF the exact same wing symbol, while in the MIDDLE OF HIS SHIRT Evil Wolverine wears the EXACT SAME SYMBOL AGAIN. They’re ALL visible at the SAME TIME. 

Which I suppose is a great way to demonstrate him just projecting his own pattern onto every level of the universe, not caring how it looks or turns out as long as he gets what he wants. Perfectly aligning every detail of every world until its just his own symbol all the way down. 

But at the same time this is how you know he’s related to Clow Reed and not Tomoyo Daidouji.

...and I wonder if any of these words, or the ideas behind them, might be something that Juno will share with Jet. Jet's not a monster, not even the parts of him he sees as the worst of him, and maybe he'll find a way to reconcile with that when all of this is done.
