One thing I love about Across the Spiderverse vs Into the Spiderverse is that we got to see more or Gwen’s personality, especially as Spider-Woman. In the art book for the first movie, it says something like “nobody is cooler than Gwen”. She’s shown to be cool and graceful; purposeful with every movement and action. Effortlessly confident and so sure of herself. It makes total sense that she comes across this way in Into the Spiderverse since the film is from Miles’ pov. That’s not to say Gwen isn’t any of those things, but it was so much fun getting to see her “classic spider-person” personality come out. The quips when fighting the Vulture, the fake deep voice she used when talking to her father. Even parts of the scene when she first dropped into Miles’ room and when they were swinging through the city together. She was goofy and I hope we get to see more of that side of her in some way or form. On the other hand, with Gwen specifically, we got to see a glimpse into her frustrations over having a secret identity, feeling disconnected from people and missing Miles and the rest of the spider-people from the first film, her continued grieving over Peter, having her own father head a manhunt for her over his death and her relationship with him in general. It’s just all so good

Okay, see, the thing about your story ending on a negative/dystopian/'despite everything that's happened nothing has changed in society' note and doing so successfully? It needs to have been set up for that in the first place, and it needs to be done in an intentional manner.
I have nothing against works that reinforce how cruel/meaningless/pointless/etc. the world is -- I enjoy a fair few! -- but the works themselves need to be some sort of commentary about it; the plot might be demonstrative of the futility of everything, but the story never should. It should take that and build on it and use it to make a statement, underscore a point, etc. to its readers. Having everything carry on business-as-usual without acknowledging it, especially in a genre that's generally meant to conclude on optimistic, uplifting, and hopeful notes, comes off as callous and in direct opposition with the values it extols.
Plus, the story itself should never be futile because, then, well, it never mattered as a work and it makes no difference if you've read it or not. Which... that's just a badly written story lmao.

ppl talk about having terrible horrifying dreams on benadryl but as a benadryl veteran and frequent flyer i have never had a dream on benadryl that gave me the spooky scaries. even if they SHOULD have. like last night i had a dream that all my teeth fell out (classic, tired) which normally would have terrified me obviously. but benadryl-dream-me was too calm and zen to be bothered. i was like. that’s fine. let em. i’ll make that work for me. i’ll figure it out. and then when i woke up this morning i was just psyched to realize i still have teeth. win/win.

I know we joke about Monaco being his first race back in that seat for the redemption day storyline’s but like there are other potential races storyline’s that compel me too like Baku, or having him do a Max on Max where he wins on debut in Barcelona, or his first win back echoing his first win so Canada, or the full circleness of 2011 being reserve driver and his first race being silverstone
wowowow all fantastic options!! a few more to add to the list
australia - i know it's early in the season, so it might have to push back to 2024, but the Narrative of being back in his home country with the team that was his home for so many years? MWAH chef's kiss! and then even better if he w*ns or gets a p*dium, because it would be his first and only since 2014 when he was disqualified for something that wasn't even his fault
austria, red bull ring - the team's home race, it would be a whole thing
cota - no real personal or narrative significance to this one other than he loves it there and it would be a fucking party
mexico - the only place he's gotten pole other than monaco, but he DNFed 10 laps from the finish...mexico redemption perhaps?

To be totally honest, I just want ARB writers to be in charge of the new rhyme anima season. I want 23 self-contained episodes that always end with an excuse like “it was all a dream”. I want chaotic situations and absurd characters’ interactions. I’m not ready to see Jyushi’s backstory or B.A.T.’s 2nd drb loss animated so this is the only alternative I can accept.
i think rhyme anima but arb flavoured is a very good vibe to want lol you get great characterisations while still getting the zaniest writing that doesn’t take itself too seriously!!!! which is what i think kr wanted from rhyme anima in the first place lol
backstories are interesting to bring up!!!!! since season one didn’t follow canon at all until the drbs, i honestly expect nagosaka to just be there no explanation lol we have them so cherish them kinda vibe lmao but i could see them alluding to jyushi’s trauma with quick flashback pngs that are kinda obscured, similar to how they depicted the smic fallout. it depends on if they want to be more canon compliant or continue winging it based on whatever crumbs kr fed the team lmao
