Tumblr media
"we're eight minutes out. don't go in yet." voight said into the mic but you and jay had already entered a second too late.
jay's been your partner for almost a year now. the one he had before you was a blonde named hailey that took a position from the fbi.
when you first met him it was about a month after the previous detective left and you could tell he was obviously still in denial. you gave him space and only input your opinion about cases you worked on with intelligence.
it took about three weeks until he actually said anything besides the occasional comment. and he knew deep down that you weren't trying to replace her. but since you were together a lot during the week—jay couldn't help but make his own conclusion about you.
he started to open up more when he looked past the stubbornness after concluding that you were a decent person. for a moment there, you could have sworn he was having an out of body experience with how nice he started treating you.
jay started to invite you out to drinks on a periodic basis. he wanted to explore the possibilities of having you as his permanent partner. one night after a couple of drinks, jay was in a good mood and showed you a picture of his old partner.
the two of them were standing in front of their new work truck with bright smiles on their faces. he talked about her a lot after that night as a way of meeting you half-way. and by the end of that month—it was as if you physically knew her and who she was as a person.
the both of you hit it off pretty well and became friends. even as far as, having drinks every tuesday and thursday after work at molly's—the firefighter owned bar.
jay mumbled a curse at the order voight gave but it was already too late. "get behind me." he spoke in a hushed whisper. not wanting to argue in that particular moment you did as told.
detective halstead had his gun raised and in a firm grip around his fingers before stepping further into the house. you followed his position and warily stepped more into the creaky house.
luckily the both of you had vests already on and around your chests. the material easily gave you a visual view of his arm muscles around the freckles splayed across his biceps.
right away you spotted the cans of spray paint sitting on the concrete living room floors. crude words were traced along the four walls and you couldn't help but scrunch your nose at the horrid smell.
it only had you raising your pistol higher.
while you glanced around to survey the room closely, you couldn't help but notice the gang symbols that you were familiar with. due to the cpd database you knew at least three different affiliations drawn over the wood boarded windows.
the overused drug house looked like something out of a horror movie.
"clear." he grunted between paced cautious breaths and you continued to walk behind his careful steps around the garbage to venture into the main hallway of the house.
jay stopped at the entryway and you turned back around to double check the area once again while he scanned the front view where you and he needed to go.
both sides of the hallway were clear but he made sure his gun was raised and followed every inch of the hallway space that he inspected.
you felt a tap on your waist and turned back around to see jay was still facing forward. he probably hadn't noticed the spot he touched of your body but it still sent shivers down your spine with the intimacy of it.
but you pushed away the anxiousness to check and see what was bothering jay. the only thought you should be having right now is how to get out of the dangerous position.
the hallway was full of open and vulnerable space. a clear point of range that could be taken advantage of to take either you or jay out at any time.
jay was concerned for you. he couldn't help the anxious feeling that he had in the pit of his stomach. the unknowingness ahead in the crack house irked him greatly that he couldn’t predict what was about to happen.
the walls of the hallway smelled highly metallic and if that hadn't given it away, the walls were filled with fresh blood splatter. you gulped at the sight of the bright red handprints going down the length of the hall and glanced at jay from the corner of your eye with an eyebrow raised.
he sighed and nodded his head while pointing his gun to the left to signal the continuance of moving on. you bit the bottom of your lip and tipped your head to let him know you were ready to go.
turning your body in a three hundred sixty angle, you watched his back and felt the hairs on the back of your neck lift up in a static gesture. you could also feel goosebumps all over your arms and you just wanted to hurry up and get out of there.
it was truly the most awful scene you've ever been to. with everything you had—you kept yourself together and calm. your lips were in a straight line the whole time.
you should have known with the uneasy feeling that things were going wrong within a split second. and you were right because after jay turned just slightly he felt a gun being pressed against his forehead.
“put your guns down or else i’m going to blow his head off.” an angered voice said into the echoey hall.
not believing what was happening, you turned your body to survey the area and another man came into your view and held his gun higher. “‘tsk tsk’ miss. hand me that gun or else we’re going to have problems.” jay sighed from behind you and you rolled your eyes.
“i’m not putting down shit until you tell me your demands.” you said maybe a little too cockily but it was protocol.
voight had told the team plenty of times to stall and not give up your gun at first. in hopes that the other’s would show up and it would become a better outcome if you just continued talking to the person who was a threat.
a third one appeared and now you were officially outnumbered but you were still hoping they were dumber than they looked. the one that was pressing a firearm to your partner’s temple spit out, “listen lady. you either put your weapon down or else his brain matter will be just another body that was paved across the walls of this house.”
you tried to calculate in your head quickly if you should take the risk of surrendering. voight said they were eight minutes out. and if you’ve been in the house for almost four minutes now.
that was half the time left until they were going to show but then those few precious minutes would be enough time for literally anything.
sometimes you hated being a part of the police force. how could you ever know the correct answer and outcome within a split second of your life? could anybody be capable of that? whatever choice you decided to take would be the outcome.
you knew you wouldn’t be able to live without jay as your partner and in your life. and his blood would be on your hands if you didn’t surrender now. a shaky breath fell past your lips when you clicked the safety back on and handed it to one of them.
of course they used your gun against you and headbutted you with it. little black spots were in your vision before it completely knocked you out. you just hoped the intelligence team would be able to find you and jay.
it would be your fault and you’d feel guilty until your last breath if they didn’t.
you weren’t sure how much time had passed but a hard slap against your cheek woke you up. a blood trail still continued to trickle down your forehead and you winced at the feeling of an awful beating in your eardrums. “wake up sleeping bitch.”
you tried to speak but instead you coughed at the buildup in your throat. not being able to help yourself, in a snarky tone you replied. “i thought it was sleeping beauty?” that earned you another slap that ensured fingerprints across your cheek but you weren’t feeling any regret about it.
“now shut up and answer my next question.” he inputted before you could interrupt again. you looked at him with a devious grin and he rolled his eyes in annoyance. “what were you looking for in that house?”
when you leaned forward, you realized the reason why you couldn’t move was because your arms were tied behind your back. but nonetheless you leaned forward encroaching in his space enough to feel his breath span out against your red cheek.
“as if i’d tell you.” your defiance had him pushing your head back forcefully so you hit the concrete behind you, feeling as if a baseball bat hit your skull.
he smirked at your uncomfort. “perhaps a little visit with your boyfriend will help you come to understand that i don’t mess around. if you don’t give me an answer—my boys won’t hesitate to put a bullet straight through his head.” your only reply was a silent one.
spitting blood onto his shoes and he cursed before grinning again. “yeah that’s what i thought.” turning his head towards the door, he yelled. “bring the pretty boy in!”
your shoulders immediately dropped when they entered the room. the other two men from earlier were dragging jay into the room and disposed of his body roughly on the ground in front of you. if it weren’t for his chest rising up and down faintly then you would have thought he was dead.
both of his eyes were already swollen and you knew he would have two black eyes for weeks, dried blood dripped down his face and you didn’t even want to look at the rest of his body. despite the fact he was wearing clothes, you knew he had many internal problems that would need only the care a hospital could provide.
“j-jay?” you stuttered at the sight of him.
he kept blacking out and struggled to stay awake. jay had been counting his breaths to make sure he had enough air circulating through his body. cracked ribs were no joke and he could only groan to let his favorite person know that he was still holding on.
“you think beating people is the only answer? violence?” you glanced around the room and glared at the three with a venomous look. they shared similar smiles hearing how hoarse your voice was.
“i hope my team finds you all and you rot!” the two that brought jay in walked away and the one that talked to you a few moments ago stood and looked down at you. saying one more thing before walking out the door and shutting it. “and i hope next time i come in here—you’ll feel more generous and tell me what you were up to. if you don’t then our pretty boy here will die as promised.”
as soon as he left the room, you started rubbing your arms up and down the wall in hopes that the binds around your wrists would break off. “y/n.” jay mumbled. you didn’t even notice he had turned his face and you shushed him. “don’t open your eyes jay. it’ll be okay, i promise.”
he tried again. “y-y/n. i need to t-tell you something.” jay’s lip was busted and bruised. he hissed at the pain. “you don’t need to tell me anything. we’re getting out of here, detective halstead.” you stated with confidence and continued to run your hands up and down despite the sting of your wrists.
jay had a feeling earlier this morning that something bad would happen. his gut had told him something and he wished he hadn’t ignored it. but he can’t always follow everything, especially when they didn’t even have their case yet. but of course after finding out the hard way, this case was bad.
he knew it and it still put you in harm's way but jay had to tell you how he felt just in case it did go the way he was hoping it wouldn’t. “i don’t care if i need to keep my strength right now. listen to me please.” he pleaded and you finally stopped, turning to glance at his face.
jay was squinting and the visual of his state had your stomach churning.
“y/n i haven’t been completely honest with you and i need to tell you this. i’ve wanted to for a while now, but i just couldn’t find the right moment to.” it was getting to the point where you were desperately trying to keep together. and now that he wanted to confess a deep secret that he’s held close to his chest, the whole thing just had you hysterical.
jay frowned when you started laughing. he tried to scoot closer but the pain he felt was significant. it was just one of those situations where it wasn’t an appropriate response but you couldn’t help yourself either.
he noticed the tears falling down your cheeks while watching you quiet down. a reaction like this didn’t surprise your partner so he didn’t blame your outburst in the least. “i’m s-sorry. i’m sorry.” you muttered and tilted your head to both sides.
you looked back over to jay after successfully wiping more than half of the tears on your sleeve. and for a moment he just gazed into your eyes with his blue ones. a look that you couldn’t decipher nor describe appeared across his face but he seemed to snap out of whatever he was thinking.
jay cleared his throat and continued with what he was about to say earlier. “it’s okay y/n. but i need you to know that i don’t blame you in the slightest for what went down in that house. i would have done the same exact thing because i love you.”
it was like time stopped and you couldn’t speak even if you wanted to. after all of that time you spent with jay. him wanting nothing to do with you, then becoming your acquaintance, somewhat of a real friend and he loved you?
“you really love me?” you questioned. not being able to believe what was coming out of his mouth. you wondered if the three men drugged him and he was high or delusional. a grunt came out his mouth at the current aching pain he felt all over his body.
“yes y/n, i love you so much. if i could, i’d be over there right now and giving you a hug. then i’d lean down and give you a kiss that i’ve been wanting to give you for months now.”
that honesty from him had you laughing, “months? me too. i’ve wanted to kiss you for almost the whole year that i’ve known you.” you replied with the same amount of honesty he had given you.
“yeah, y/n. it’s probably going to be a year soon but i meant what i said. i really do love you and i’m sorry we’re in the situation that we’re in now. i wish i could protect you from this.” before you could reply the two of you heard gunshots outside of the room. “shit! i hope that’s them.” you mumbled and jay nodded as best as he could.
the door banged open and hit the wall. you almost peed your pants with how happy you were to see kevin and adam surveying the room. “clear!” kevin announced and then walked over to you and jay. adam spoke into the radio, “5021 ida. we have officers down and need two ambos rolled to our location.”
after kevin ripped the binds from your wrists, you crawled over to jay even though your arms were killing you. another tear fell down your cheek when you got up and close to him. he looked awful but now that the two of you were safe, he could begin to heal soon enough. “jay.” he made a ‘hmm’ sound due to the exhaustion he was feeling.
“i love you too.” you finally said and he smiled. you leaned down to brush your lips against his carefully. “after all of this is done. i’m going to give you a proper one.”
you winked and he grinned and responded while the medics rolled in. “we have plenty of time in the world now.”

Jedi: Fallen Order
When I finished playing DOOM, I told myself that the next game I would play wouldn’t be one that pissed me off. Unfortunately, Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order did not live up to those expectations.
While the source of my frustration with DOOM was mainly growing pains with its intense gameplay and action, Fallen Order mainly drew ire from me due to its unfinished and unpolished nature. Its publisher, EA, is in the same club as Ubisoft, Bethesda, and apparently now CD Projekt Red, often releasing games as broken glitchy messes when they first come out to meet quick deadlines. I’ve seen and heard how unplayable this game was at launch, and while it isn’t as bad as it was then, it still has enough subtle mistakes to ruin my gameplay experience. The main source of this and my frustration, in general, was the extremely finicky and unresponsive controls, particularly found in its two main selling points: platforming (and plot but I’ll talk about that later) directly lifted, if not plagiarized from the Uncharted games, and Dark Souls-esque combat gameplay. Nothing really lines up or “clicks” when it really needs to. Regarding the platforming, it feels like it takes a miracle to properly grab onto something and takes a thousand tries for a jump to work. When the double jump gets introduced, it really only works when the game, in its divine ignorance, feels the whim to let it work. A lot of reviewers complained about the difficult and unwieldy ice slide sequences in the game, and while I had my fair share of annoyance on a very specific ice slide, I think it’s just a symptom of a much larger problem. The combat shares this similar “the game only works when it wants to” problem. You don’t always dodge or block right when you want it to, but I think its biggest problem is healing. Instead of pressing a button and having part of your health restored, pressing said button instead “calls” your robot companion, which needs to do a special little animation and THEN you get healed, which takes a long 15 seconds. Not only does this waste a good amount of time in a game where time is absurdly precious in its hardcore combat, but every other time I tried calling the damn robot it straight up ignored me. I don’t know if this is a glitch, or it needs a cooldown period, or you can’t heal while being hit by an enemy, but it made the fights a lot more unnecessarily grating than they already are. Speaking of straight up screw you moments from the game, whenever I hit the “target” button in close combat with multiple enemies, it’d always target the farthest away enemy, for no reason. All of this is a shame because these main gameplay components are actually quite fun when they aren’t broken? A lot of the level design allows for really fast and exhilarating platforming that is absurdly fun when it syncs up, but that’s only, like half of the time. The combat can be enjoyable too, allowing for some great lightsaber duel boss fights, which can feel pretty cinematic when the combat actually works.
Outside of gameplay, the game’s unfinished nature shows itself a lot in its cutscenes. Its graphics just straight up dip and fail to fully render for 90% of these moments, often also feeling extremely choppy and cutting off a bit too soon. There was even one time an enemy was supposed to show up in a cutscene to initiate a boss fight but they just weren’t there and it was quite confusing because it felt like the main character was speaking to an empty wall. Around the middle of the game, both cutscenes and gameplay sequences would just freeze, and this is probably the first game I’ve played in a while to straight up crash on my PS4. If the developers took an extra, idk six months to actually fix this game a bit more I’d rate it a lot higher than I am now. I was actually warned about the game’s poor performance before playing, with a friend mentioning its horrible load times, but I didn’t know it’d be this bad. As my unopened copy of the infamous Cyberpunk 2077 waits on my mantlepiece for the developers to actually make it a playable game months after its release, I fear it may have the same fate as Fallen Order, still being quite a bit buggy and annoying over a year after its messy launch.
With its buggy and incohesive gameplay in mind, Jedi: Fallen Order’s strongest element is its plot. To my surprise, this is much less of a Star Wars game and more a game that just happens to be set in the Star Wars universe. Taking place between episodes 3 and 4, I kind of expected it to be an epic quest detailing the rise of the rebel alliance, but instead, I got a more generic treasure hunt storyline heavily reminiscent of the Uncharted series. Although this sounds quite disappointing, the game’s plot still soars in its great character arcs and setpieces interspersed the vague framework of its less-than-original overall plot. Combine these great individual moments with an absolutely bombastic ending and it almost makes trudging through the glitchy gameplay worth it. This is elevated by some great voice acting performances, particularly from Cameron Monaghan, who gives a movie star performance to the main character, even in a lot of moments where he doesn’t have much to work with. The setting is also a high point. Disney’s milking of Star Wars has led to a variety of media set between episodes 3 and 4, this game feels particularly special because it is more focused on the aftermath of Episode 3 rather than the buildup to Episode 4, which I think the rest of the media in this era is focused on. It’s clear that there are so many parts of the game that the studio put a lot of love in, ranging from the plot, to the memorable soundtrack (Mongolian throat singing, anyone?), to even the hilarious enemy dialogue, I just wish they put this amount of effort to make the game fully playable.
The one elephant in the room regarding this game that I haven’t mentioned so far is the game’s worlds/levels themselves. They aren’t annoyingly unpolished like the gameplay but aren’t really a labor of love either. Instead what we get is an admittedly gorgeous maze of areas within a few planets, constantly getting more twisty and confusing as you go on. It may visually resemble an open world, but it is very much a series of paths that make you go “hmmmm, should I go back to that other branching path to see if there are any healing upgrades or character customization options I can collect?” There’s nothing wrong about this MetroidVania style format, but frankly it’s not my type. A lot of the areas look visually similar so it’s quite easy to get lost, and despite each planet’s map being absurdly big, there’s no way to actually fast travel between areas, just between planets. Finally, the incentive to go back and explore isn’t particularly convincing, where the healing upgrades are a bit too well concealed and the character customization options are like, absurdly mid. This is the one time I actually wished an EA game had its own in-game currency so I could buy something cooler than “the same damn poncho you’re wearing except a slightly less boring color combination.” Come on, man! The one good thing I’ll say about the overall game world is that the in-game map highlights which paths you haven’t explored yet, making it much easier to get on track. While the game’s maze-like level style isn’t necessarily my thing, I think if the developers tried to make it a bit more interesting a lot of people would get a kick out of it.
Jedi: Fallen Order is a game that finally made me understand my college professors that went a bit too hard on my grammar mistakes when grading papers. The central content and ideas this game presents have a lot of potential, but they’re heavily weighed down by an infinite number of fixable mistakes. I give this game a 6.7 out of 10 stars.

Play Pretend II - Heechul
Part l
Kim Heechul x Reader (Idol!AU)
Synopsis: SM Entertainment has been in hot waters, leaving them in no choice but to put you and Heechul in an agreement to pretend as lovers.
Tumblr media
You felt the temperature around the room rise for a couple of degrees. You’re certain that your face flushed a red tint all over your heated cheeks. Unable to speak, Heechul brought his face away from yours and sat properly.
“I thought you were so feisty but now you’re speechless, eh?” He said with a chuckle.
“I was actually waiting for you to make a move but it looks like you’re all talk.” You teased him.
He looked back at you, his eyes sporting a strong look as if you ticked a wrong box. He slowly raised n eyebrow and a grin followed soon after. He slowly inched his face back closer to yours, the hint of alcohol evident in his breath.
You hated the tease he was playing and crashed your lips onto his. The kiss got more aggressive as you put your hands on his face, bringing him closer if that was even possible. Heechul’s hands sat on your waist, as he slowly led you to sit on his thighs. Both of your hands started to explore each others’ body too familiarly. Heechul was a damn good kisser, he knew how to work his lips and tongue and you were the one swayed on his rhythm.
You were knocked back to your senses when his lips started going down to your shoulder blades. You lightly pushed him away which gave him the hint to stop.
“I don’t fuck on the first date, oppa.” You said jokingly.
He laughed at your humor, “Yeah, I don’t bed anyone under the influence too.”
You both fixed yourself and you prepared to leave. You were sure that this was just first of the many things that you’re gonna experience with Heechul. And you’d be lying if you said that you’re not looking forward to it.
Weeks flew by pretty much hastily. You and Heechul left a few easter eggs for the press here and there. It included you borrowing a few of his clothes, and other not-so-subtle hints.
You two grew close too, inviting one another to your apartments and sharing a drink frequently. It was a delight to have Heechul in your life, a friend that you can always depend on and you have someone to talk to about the burdens of the industry. And of course there’s the select occasions that you exceed being friends when you find yourself in the morning on his bed.
When your “relationship” was announced, you were shocked by the massive support his fans gave the two of you. Of course there were a few naysayers but the fans were more of happy that Heechul had a girlfriend now. The company’s plan worked after all. The gay rumors went away, your dating news overshadowed the other scandals.
You were cooking a meal when you felt a pair of arms snake around your waist. His face then settled on the crook of your neck, seemingly sniffing your scent. You chuckled at the tickling feeling.
“I’ll miss you.” Heechul whispered against your neck.
“It’s only a week, dumbass.” You laughed at his clingy demeanor. You’re going away for a week due to a schedule in another country.
It’s moments like this which make you think that you and Heechul are really a thing, not just two puppets playing along a script of a company.
“I’ll miss eating proper food.” You laughed at the child like tone of his voice.
“I knew it, you’re just making me your personal chef.” Answering him teasingly.
“I’ll miss eating you.” He whispered in your ear.
You slapped his hands that are on your abdomen, reacting to his improper thoughts. Heechul just laughed.
“Quit acting like that, I’m close to thinking that we’re really together.” You said jokingly but it was the truth masked as a joke.
“Well for a sense we’re really together, unconventionally.” He answered as you face him. Heechul looked really young for his age, he could pass off as 23 on a good day.
“Like we’re together because of a contact and not because of love? Yes, Heechul that is unconventional.” And you both laughed.
Your show had a noticeably larger amount of audience than before, you dating a member of a legendary group and a popular host really boosted the number of people that knew your name. It encouraged you to do better, as a gratitude to Heechul too. Because somehow you felt as if you were riding his fame.
Carrying a small box in your hands, you sat quietly on the passenger seat. It was a gift for Heechul that you bought from your trip. You wanted to give it to him right away and you wanted to surprise him.
You knocked at the door of his apartment. You could hear faintly that he wasn’t alone, probably having a drink with his friends. As you turned to walk away when you realized that this wasn’t a good time, the door suddenly opened.
“Oh, you’re here for Hee.”
You were shocked at the person in front of you, it was the man who was involved in Heechul’s gay rumors. After composing yourself for a few seconds you answer, “It looks like a wrong time, I could come back-”
You were stopped when he opened the door wider. Your eyes caught an image of Heechul with his arms over a woman that looked your age. Emptied bottles of soju were on the table.
“Heenim, someone’s here for you!”
It was then when his eyes caught yours, his jaw slightly dropped. You could feel everyone looking at you but his shocked display was all you see.
“I just dropped by to give you this thing I bought from my trip.” You said, forcing a smile and raising the small box. You didn’t know why you could feel a negative emotion building up inside of you. You couldn’t be jealous, you didn’t have the right.
“Who is that?” The girl clad in a skimpy outfit asked. “Oh! Is that your fake girlfriend, Hee?”
Your eyes enlarged in shock - no in annoyance - no, in anger. Heechul doesn’t just go around revealing to everyone that you’re relationship is nothing but a fake, isn’t he? Moreover, being called a fake girlfriend felt degrading. Is that how he introduces you to people that you didn’t even know existed?
“Yes, I’m his fake girlfriend.” Sarcasm overflowed in your tone. “I need to go, bye!” You gave the box to the man in front of you and waved to them, trying to stay as composed as possible despite the fact that you’re way too angry to even look at them.
You rushed down back to the car, he didn’t even follow you. Why did you even expect that he will? You’re just his fake girlfriend after all. A co artist that agreed to pretend to be his love interest to hide his sexuality and for you to increase popularity. It’s just you and your damned mind who thought that you could be something more. Obviously, that wasn’t the case.
A few days after, you’re to attend a party of SM Entertainment. It was for the birthday of Lee Soo Man and every artist was expected to attend. Of course you’ll encounter Heechul. You’ve been cold to him this past few days due to the incident. You even refused to tag along him in the party, citing a few made up excuses to which he agreed.
The night was young and you caught yourself drinking and laughing with Choi Minho. You had to admit that you find him extremely attractive, as lot of people do. But it was a different attraction when he’s joking and cozying up beside you.
You were laughing at a stupid joke he said when you felt an arm drape over your shoulder.
“Hyung!” Minho greeted the man beside you happily.
“Mind if I excuse my girlfriend for a while?” He said while his hand pressed your shoulder.
“If she wants to be excused.” Minho sensed the atmosphere and looked at you worryingly.
“I bet she wants to, right?” Heechul looked at you with raised eyebrows.
“Just a moment, Minho.” He nodded and you stood up and let Heechul take you where he intended to. You found the both of you in a quiet corner near the place’s restrooms.
“Why?” You asked rather dryingly.
“What the fuck was that?” His voice was raised a little.
“What the fuck was what?” You crossed your arms in annoyance.
“I’m pretty sure you’ve been coldly replying to me this past few days and then I come here and see my girlfriend flirting with another man?”
“Everyone in this room knows that our relationship ain’t nothing but a contract signed by us and I don’t remember causing a scene when I saw your buildup to a threesome in your home.” You said in a half sarcastic, half pissed off tone.
“A what? Those were my friends! And I didn’t know you’d come that day.” He sounded confused.
“Your friends to whom you presented me as your fake girlfriend.” He was stunned by the realization. “And it looked like you didn’t mind when they are the ones who call me your fake girlfriend so I don’t see the difference, Heechul.”
“Can’t you atleast wait for four more months before you ride another dick of another labelmate?” He said and that was it for you.
“Maybe not. That’s why I’m gonna call my manager first thing in the morning and end this bullshit of an agreement I got myself into.” Before he could even answer, you stormed back to the party.

Kingdom Hearts III Review
I never use this site but I needed some place to put all my thoughts down and this was the only place I could think of.
I’ve probably waited for this game for around 12 to 13 years. KH1 and 2 brought me so much joy as a kid, and it wasn’t until later that I played all the other spin-off games in the series. This game was the primary reason I got a PS4 in the first place and, as fucked up as it sounds, one of the things that kept me going in life. The impact of this series runs that deep for me.
Because we got inundated with a ton of gameplay footage last year, I knew I was going to enjoy this game. I had a few worries that the combat would feel clunky/floaty/stiff when seeing some of the earlier footage, but within the first hour or so of the game I couldn’t deny how good the combat feels. It’s satisfying, fluid, flashy and so much fun. I’d say the keyblade transformations offer much more variety than Drive forms ever did, cause you could use them a lot more frequently. There’s also other things like the shotlock, team attacks, link attacks, flowmotion attacks, so much stuff that you can utilize to really mix up battles every time. It’s probably the most addicting combat I’ve experienced in the entire KH series.
Another change I liked is the gummi system. I used to dread the gummi ship portions in KH2 because they were annoyingly difficult and they served as blockades to the worlds that are unavoidable. In this game, the gummi portion is instead a huge open area of space that you can explore and find treasures in. Battles can be avoided and the way to initiate them is to approach the enemies on the field, which was a huge sigh of relief for me. The actual gummi battles themselves work somewhat the same way as it did in KH2, but it’s not as busy or frenetic anymore so it eliminates the annoyance.
The Disney worlds were well done for the most part. They made the levels pretty big and explorable, and the story/time you spend within each world is elongated so there isn’t a return trip. I guess I understand why they did that but I really liked how in KH2 you could come back to the worlds in the second half of the game and experience a new story within it. In this one, once you’ve finished a world that’s pretty much it. One world would probably take around 2-3 hours to complete, depending on how much you explore. Unfortunately this game was a lot shorter than I was hoping it would be, but it’s still packed with a lot of content so it wasn’t that big of an issue. I was particularly impressed with the Pirates world; it suddenly turned into Assassin's Creed Black Flag. You get to control your own ship and explore different islands and have ship battles. I hated the Pirates world in KH2 but had loads of fun with the one in this game. I also enjoyed the Toy Story world very much, because it’s essentially a giant 3-story toy store and you can explore virtually every inch of it.
Something that disappointed me was the 100 Acre Wood. I actually loved what they did in KH2 because it spanned throughout the entire game, since you had to find the missing pages and gradually see the story unfold. However in this one, I’m pretty sure the 100 Acre Wood was just an afterthought. You go in there and it’s pretty much just 3 mini games that are practically slightly different variations of the same game, and that’s it. It was way too brief, and they definitely could have done something to make it more interesting. Sure, 100 Acre Wood was never my FAVORITE world in either KH1 or 2, but they were much more well done in those games than here because they actually had stories and a lot of creative mini games. It’s pretty clear they didn’t put much thought or effort into this world, and since it’s one of the minor worlds I guess it doesn’t matter that much, but it’s still disappointing nonetheless.
The final act of the game was a bit messy, to say the least. Light spoilers ahead.
I never really try to question or make sense of the convoluted mechanics and plot holes of the KH-verse so I just rolled with it and was along for the ride when it came to the story, but I think in this game nothing hugely significant really happens in the story until the final act. They just packed everything into that last part of the game, throwing boss after boss at you and solving plot line after plot line. It felt a lot like the recent season finale of Steven Universe; a lot of unnecessary buildup until you just throw everything but the kitchen sink in the end.
If you think about KH2′s story structure for example, it was a lot more eventful because between the Disney worlds you also visited certain worlds like Hollow Bastion and Twilight Town and whatnot to advance the main story and have things actually HAPPEN. In this game, the non-Disney worlds were basically given little to no effort. Twilight Town just becomes a little hub area that has the bistro for the cooking mini game; which you can go to via the world map or save points anyway, so essentially Twilight Town is useless cause you never need to visit it again for story purposes. The penultimate area of the game, the Keyblade Graveyard, is pretty much just a gauntlet of bosses. There’s nothing to explore, it’s just a linear path to every possible boss in the game. Fighting all of them in one place like that made it feel oddly anti-climactic.
And then my biggest disappointment: Scala ad Caelum. This was the area that was hyped up in the trailers, huge and gorgeous with cables connecting everywhere. I thought it would be the final dungeon and you could explore every inch.
Nope. It’s literally just a fancy stage for the final boss. It just breaks my heart to think about all the wasted potential. Maybe they focused all their efforts on the Disney worlds (besides the Winnie the Pooh world), so the non-Disney ones were just afterthoughts? They could have done SO much more with the set pieces in this game, like I just think back to how incredibly well-done Hollow Bastion was in KH2 and how much of the story unfolded in that area. KH2 really made good use of all the worlds and tied everything together. With this game, each of the worlds kind of just play out their own story and it feels very disconnected to everything else that’s going on.
The great thing about KH2 and the fact that you could go to each world twice is that, the first time you go it’s all about playing out the story of whatever movie it is they’re basing it on; and then the second time you come back, it’s about how that particular world fits into the bigger Kingdom Hearts story itself. It tied everything together and it made it feel like the worlds were actually connected. In this game there’s a big disconnect, and I’m very disappointed in that. Also, I don’t understand why they didn’t have any Final Fantasy characters in this game whatsoever, not even Sephiroth who I thought had become a staple.
I know it seems like this game let me down, and in some cases it did because of all the things that they could have done that for some reason they chose not to do, even after this game being in development for so long. This game took me about 30 hours to complete but I wish it was 30 hours longer. They could have added at least one more Disney world, they could have done something to make the worlds feel more impactful or connected to the overall plot, there’s just so many things they could’ve done. But even with all that said, I still enjoyed myself a lot in this game because the gameplay was enough to keep me engaged and it felt so good to actually have the game in my hands.
I’ll give the game a 8/10. I can’t believe I’m doing that because I thought I would have given it a 10, and I was hoping I’d be able to, but it just feels like there’s a big chunk of this game that’s missing and I wish they did more. Still, the things they got right they got right, and I can’t deny that I had so much fun playing it and still am with the post-game activities. I just got the Ultima keyblade recently and it’s a dream to use. I’m eager for them to add a New Game+ feature, because I want to replay it but I want to carry everything over; I’d rather not just start from scratch.
Also sidebar, if you’ve never played a Kingdom Hearts game before in your life, don’t even bother having this one be your first one, lmao. It’s a continuation and an ending to a huge story, so if this game is your first KH game you will not understand ANYTHING that’s going on or know who any of the original characters are. If you want to play it regardless, then just skip the cutscenes and tune out the story, cause from a gameplay perspective this game is a fucking blast.

Soaked//Charlie ChaplinxReader
The day was gloomy for the sky was dark with clouds. You were currently washing the windows, scrubbing each pane free from the years of grime and buildup. Once the window was clean, you could see it was beginning to rain. You leaned against the window, stuffing the dirty rag into the pocket of your apron.
"Oh boy. Now business is apt is slow down." You mumbled to yourself. As if on cue, a shocking strike of lighting came before your eyes, followed by a loud crash of thunder. You jumped, backing up from the window. Turning on your heel, with an angered stomp you made your way to the employee's room. You were the only employee working today. John couldn't come because of the weather. And your Great Uncle, who owned the place, was ill in the soldier's home. It was only the three of you who kept up with the dusty place. Your Uncle usually checked people out, John usually helped customers or moved heavy equipment, and you usually kept the market clean. Luckily, the day was slow due to the weather. Only three people had stopped by in the last few hours you have been at work. While two of them bought something, one, who was a friend of yours, stopped by to see how you were doing.
You were spending your time cleaning up things that had been needing it. As you strolled through the door frame, you realized your hands were nearly black with dirt and smelled of strong ammonia. You wrinkled your nose, turning to the bathroom to wash your hands. While you were doing so, you overheard the bell, that hung on the doorknob of the entrance, ring over the running water. You quickly turned the water off, drying your hands on your dirty, white apron. You rushed to the main room, a fake smile on your face as you did so.
"Hello, welcome to Paris Flea Market, how can I-" You stopped your sentence when you realized the man before you were soaked. Rainwater dripped from his sleeves, hat, and pants as he looked up at you innocently.
"Hello." A clear British accent came from the tiny man before you. His voice was slightly high, but not high enough to sound feminine.
"Oh dear. You're soaked. Sir, you're going to be sick!" You rushed up to him, your heels clonking against the wooden floor.
The man was pale with hypnotizing blue eyes. He was maybe an inch taller than you and looked to weigh no more than a feather. Being quite the small man, he wore pants and shoes a few sizes bigger. He clenched the rim of his pants, having to keep them up from the heaviness the rain caused. He wore a black bowler hat on top, which you took off with care and sat on the glass counter beside you. Most people in town were friendly and social. You had come to know many people. You recognized people for faces, and- only sometimes- names. Oddly, you did not remember this man.
He looked like any average brute of a tramp, but his voice was too gentle. His eyes were full purity, but, his soul was full of sin, coated with peace and tranquility. He looked up at you, shivering from the cold. You quickly gathered your thoughts, gently taking his cold hand.
"Please. Follow. There's a fireplace in the back room." You said, smiling warmly. His mouth opened slightly but shut as soon as you began leading him to the employee's room. As you two entered the room, you realized how dirty it was. Since you had been working on other parts of the building, you left the employee's room untidy and dusty. The room was in no shape for anyone other than the employee's themselves.
"I'm sorry about the mess of a room." You quickly apologized. You heard the man mutter shyly under his breath a simple "It's alright."
You beckoned for him to take a seat on one of the pillows sitting in front of the fireplace. He obliged happily. You then turned to light the open hearth. After doing so, you stood up straight and clasped your hands together.
"Sir, may I ask what size clothes you wear? It is utmost urgent to get you of those wet ones." You questioned, genuine concern lacing your tone. He simply shrugged. The man was beginning to shiver more and more which made you worry. You took a quick look over him, his curious eyes watching you all the while. You stuck your index finger up in the air, emitting a slight "Ah!" as an idea popped in your head.
"W-what?" He stuttered, scooting closer to the fireplace.
"I'll be right back." You quickly said, turning on your heel and rushing to the main store. You ran to the men's clothing, quickly grabbing out a warm suit of clothing. You had in hand a pair of black pants that were slightly smaller than the ones he was wearing as well as a dark blue and red knitted sweater. You quickly sorted out a pair of socks from one of the shelves. Deciding to hunt for shoes later, you made your way back to the employee's room, handing the man the clothes.
"The bathroom is right there." You said while pointing down the short hall. "Please do go change."
The tramp stared at you, hesitantly taking the clothes and standing up. He began to walk to the bathroom, as he shut the door, he gave you one more glance.
This man sure was skeptical of your actions. The last person you met a lot like him was an abused woman. Scared, suspicious, and lost. This man had not been from the town. Newcomers often were treated like human refuse, explained your Great Uncle. You never cared for the majority of the people in town, even if you knew them all.
You bent down, picking up the wet pillow and letting a puff of air out. You took a towel and dried up the trail of water droplets the man had left from his soaked clothes. You sat a dry pillow back in the same place as the wet one was with a blanket beside it. You left the room once again, deciding to finish tidying up the main room. It was merely a few minutes later when you were polishing a coffee table in the furniture room. The thunder was still roaring outside, as well as the rain was pouring. Without you noticing, the man from before stepped into the room, leaning against the nearest dresser while watching you. You looked up at him and smiled politely. The clothes you had given him fit neatly. They weren't as loose as the others he wore were. The only thing off was his lack of shoes.
"Glad the clothes fit, mister! How about we get you some shoes?" You questioned, stuffing the oily rag into your apron's pocket. He looked down at his feet and wiggled his toes, looking back up at you through his lashes.
"I take that as a yes." You voiced, clapping your hands together. You walked past him, sharing glances all the while.
"Come. Come!" You beckoned. He followed behind you quietly and slowly. You scanned through the aisle of shoes, picking a perfect pair of oxfords for him.
You gave him the shoes with a grin plastered on your face.
"You must try these, sir. I'm not sure if the size is right, but it looks accurate enough. You'd look nice in them." You chirped. He took the shoes, his hands shaking as he did so.
In the employee's room, the phone began to ring. You raised your brows, an expression of annoyance covering your face.
"That thing has rung about fifty-thousand times today." You complained, earning a laugh from the small man before you.
"Let me go answer it. Try those shoes on while I'm gone, y'hear." You said. He nodded. You turned on your heel, rushing to the employee's room. The oblivious man took a seat on the small white chair near the shoe area, untying them and slipping them on with ease. As he did so, he overheard your conversation.
"Ah! Yes, I am at work, Uncle."
"Oh goodness no! It wasn't storming when I got here."
"Awah, well, a poor guy who was out in the weather walked in soaked. I gave him some of the spare, old clothes. I hope you don't mind."
"Ah, that's great! Thank you. You're the best. Love you! Bye-bye."
You hung the phone up, sighing. It was good to hear from your Great Uncle after worrying about him for so long. You stood up from the chair and went to walk out, but before you stood the wee man. You shrieked, covering your mouth in shock. You slowly brought your hand back down to your side in realization.
"Oh. Don't scare me like that." You scowled. Then you noticed his shoes. They fit him perfectly. You gasped, smiling.
"They fit! Lovely." You chimed.
He raised his brows, his expression of shame. You looked up at him, tilting your head slightly.
"I haven't any money, you know." He mumbled, stuffing his hands into his pockets. You shook your head and patted his shoulder.
"Don't you worry about that!" You said, leading him over to the fireplace. "You just worry about getting warm."
He took his place on the floor, patting the space beside himself, beckoning for you to sit with him.
"Oh, I'm afraid I can't. I have so many chores I must attend to." You rejected sweetly.
"Please?" He questioned, patting the floor again. You sighed.
"Well, if you insist." You uttered, taking your place beside him.
"You're a lovely kiddie... And I don't even know your name." He mumbled, smiling at you.
"(Y/n). My name is (Y/n). But, if you become a regular you can call me (N/n)" You responded, turning towards him and tilting your head in patience.
"Well, (N/n), I'm Charlie. Your new regular customer, and your new admirer."

Our plumbing system is one of the most important parts of your home, responsible for providing all of the fresh water you use on a daily basis. It’s also one of the most vulnerable to serious issues, mainly because those issues are so difficult to detect. Since so much of the system is hidden from view, it can be quite difficult to identify problems before they cause major damage. However, there are a couple of things that you can look for that indicate a need for plumbing repair. Let’s take a look at those things now.
Discolored Water
Water that is red, brown, or yellow indicates a serious problem in your plumbing system. Usually, this kind of discoloration occurs due to advanced rust in iron pipes, which are still used in some older homes. If your water is consistently discolored, it is likely because you need to replace a heavily corroded pipe in your system. Call for repairs right away.
Loss of Water Pressure
There are a couple of different things that can cause a loss of water pressure in your plumbing system, none of them good. It is possible that you have a blockage in your pipes, caused by lime scale or some other waste buildup. You may also have a large leak or rupture that is diverting water out of the system. One way or the other, though, this is a definite sign that your plumbing system is in trouble.
Higher Water Bills
A sudden spike in water bills between months without any apparent cause is often a sign of a major leak somewhere in the plumbing system. You should always keep an eye on your water bills month to month, and call for repairs if it ever seems like they’re higher than they should be.
A leaky faucet may seem like a minor annoyance, but it can quickly turn into a major problem if not tended to and fixed. Emergency Plumbers Chicago  serves business and homeowners in Chicagoland Area with the knowledge and the expertise to banish that drip for good. They offer high-quality services like toilet and sewer lines repair, bathroom remodelling, sump pumps, commercial plumbing, general maintenance and their 24-hour emergency plumbing service – because they understand that some things could not wait until the morning or until the agency reaches a part-time plumber to fix the problem for you!

Do not wait until your water bill skyrockets before making an action. Just imagine the waste of water and money when these signs are left unattended. Did you know that one leaky faucet is equal to 5 gallons of water wasted every day? That is 1,800 gallons of water wasted every year!
First appeared here: (http://ift.tt/299odPg)
PIPES & PLUMBING
That leaky faucet is so annoying, but it’s largely been a problem you’ve been able to ignore; you’ve been shutting the bathroom door, drowning out the constant drip, drip, dripping with the sound of the television, listen, this is a terrible idea. Ignoring the issue will only make it worse, leading to more water wasted, more stress on the environment, and the bottom line: a higher water bill.
How much water does a leaky faucet actually waste?
It all starts with a little drip, and it really doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. One drop of water every few seconds — what could that be doing, really? More thank you think. Break it down this way. Imagine one drop, every few seconds, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It adds up. Imagine if this was every faucet in your home, in your neighbor’s home, in all the homes that surround yours.
The math can only be approximated because every drop of water from every faucet is a slightly different size, and falls at a slightly different rate, but using the US Geological Survey’s average of 1/4 millimeter per drop, it would take about 15,000 drops to equal one gallon of water. And sure, 15 thousand drops sounds like a lot, but a faucet that drips a drop every second would fill that gallon in just four and a half hours.
That’s five gallons a day, 35 gallons a week, and as many as 1800 gallons a year. Suddenly, that little drip doesn’t seem like such a small amount of water anymore.
Banish the drip. Call in the experts at My Plumber Heating & Cooling.
A leaky faucet may seem like a minor annoyance, but it can quickly turn into a major problem if not tended to and fixed. My Plumber Heating & Cooling serves business- and homeowners in northern Virginia and southern Maryland, with the knowledge and the expertise to banish that drip for good.

Tips to Avoid Emergency Plumbing:
Take Special Precautions around Special Events: Over the next few months, many people in Toronto will be hosting large gatherings at their homes, for Thanksgiving. It’s always nice to get the whole family together, but if it’s a big group, that can be a strain on your plumbing. Check out some of our advice for avoiding holiday plumbing problems for more details.
Regular Maintenance Checks: There are a wide variety of regular maintenance checks you can do that don’t take much time at all, and can save you a lot of time and money later on.
Get a Plumbing Inspection: You can’t beat the character of an older home in Toronto, but unfortunately, they do often come with their share of unwelcome surprises – particularly when it comes to plumbing.  We offer thorough plumbing inspections that can identify any looming issues, and can start working on them right there on the spot to ensure the issue is addressed before it becomes a big problem.
Know where the shut-off valve is located: If you’re not already sure, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the valves for your sinks and toilets, and particularly the location of the main water shut-off valve for the house. That way, if you do spot a leak, or a sink or toilet is backing up uncontrollably, you can shut off the supply of water until a plumber arrives to assess it.
Respect Mother Nature: The weather in the Greater Toronto Area can wreak occasionally cause all sorts of problems. With winter coming, it’s a good idea to refresh your knowledge of how to prevent frozen pipes.
Never Put Certain Things Down Your Drains: For kitchen sinks, the biggest offenders that cause clogs are fats, grease, oil and food scraps. For toilets, some of the most common items that cause clogs are paper towels, Kleenex, and feminine hygiene products. Remember, even many products that claim to be “flushable” can easily clog your drains or toilet.
If You’re Not Sure What You’re Doing, Don’t Try To Fix It Yourself: If you don’t have the proper tools or knowledge to fix a looming plumbing problem, you can end up making things worse. In extreme cases, the work can even be hazardous to you or your family’s health. Plumbers at DrainWorks have years of experience under their belts, to safely and promptly address any emergency plumbing problems that occur, and always come equipped with the right tools for the job.
Taking care of your house’s plumbing system is one of the most overlooked maintenance tasks. Good thing Emergency Plumbers Chicago is there 24/7 to assist you in any plumbing, repair and remodelling needs.  With their excellent training and experience, you have nothing to worry about! Call them anytime at (773) 770-4811 and be confident that your house plumbing is in good hands.
