Well so far you're doing a way better job at convincing me to play BG series than Lily ever could. If there's anything positive to come from The LO Imoen Thing, it's that.

I’d love to have more people play the games, though I understand why Lily may have driven people away entirely. I’ve put some thoughts under the cut, though the TLDR is just that I recommend them, and don’t let a bad person with a microphone take away a game from you!

I’ve noticed again that Lily is just not good at recommending these games at all, especially after taking some asks on the topic recently. Her posts about it can be divided between talking about mods, talking about builds, and complaining (either about the games themselves or other RPGs).

All of this is just white noise to a prospective new player. Generally, most people will do either a very limited or no mod run when they first get a game, so they know what the game entails and can judge it properly. So talking about mods is useless here, except in rare circumstances where there’s a gamebreaking issue a mod fixes. Then there’s the fact the game is notoriously difficult for a new player to get into if they’re not used to 2E rules or even just navigating older games in general. There’s a learning curve. And talking about stats or items to someone with no familiarity is not helpful for dealing with that. All while the general complaining disparages people from buying the games entirely.

Even just complaining about BG3 and other RPGs is shooting herself in the foot here. Most people now are going to be coming from BG3 first, maybe other modern RPGs second. I’m not saying you can’t compare or ever complain, but saying “my game is much better than BG3 because it’s entirely different,” is literally just making sure a BG3 fan will never go back and play the originals.

All this to say, here’s how I’d recommend BG1/2 to people:

If you liked BG3, you’re just probably going to like them. Especially if you love a Dark Urge run. It adds to the lore and world, it expands on certain characters you may recognize, and the plot is engaging for what it is. I’d say the games have that similar vibe of “group of adventurers doing big quests together to stop the BBEG.” It’s a classic for a reason, very DnD, I think it works!

If you like making OCs, the main character is a fun one to make and obsess over. I feel like everyone’s got their own unique playthrough, though the plot beats are mostly the same. And it’s cool to have a character build up through multiple games!

There’s some fun companions to collect, whether you play a good or evil character. Everyone usually finds a party they like and sticks with them.

I do think making builds is fun if you’re into that, there’s some cool classes here. But if you find that difficult, there is an easy mode that’s a lifesaver for a first-time player. I think you can find a class that just sounds interesting and play through easy mode without too much worrying.

That’s not to say they’re perfect. It can be super overwhelming to a new player—to the point I suggest if you get stuck just looking up a walkthrough. Making your first character is probably going to take a few tries (I ended up restarting my first time because my first character was really bad lol). There’s some general old school clunk. BG1 is super light on companion dialogue compared to 2 or 3. I’d also just say if you absolutely despise dungeon crawls, these games are probably not a good fit for you as that makes up large portions of the game.

But if you’ve been interested, get into it! Try not to let anyone take an experience away from you.

i’m glad you’re bracing! We’ll start here: one of Babusia’s friends kills an asshole for work, kills his mistress (who did NOT show up in the halfhearted recon and was NOT supposed to be there and WAS a surprise witness), and then finds a kid hiding under the bed while he's cleaning up.

a hundred and fifty utterances of the word "fuck" later, the kid’s dropped off very apologetically at Known Kid-Haver Babusia’s house. He doesn’t talk for a few months, but he Does eat his weight in soup, which is very encouraging. This is Rabbit, age 7.

he grows up as the youngest in the busiest era of Babusia’s kids (11 in the house at the same time, aaa, aaaaaaa; when he's 13 she takes in a few more, and he stops being the baby. 4 of these kids make it to 40).

he’s very shy and very quiet and is immediately involuntarily taken under the wing of a hot-headed dirty-blonde ten-year-old, who is impulsive and trouble-seeking and smug (and who, much later, has a :3-faced ringlet-ed gremlin baby). She beats people up for him. They're sparring partners. They do forbidden secret baby crime together (get infinite candy with this one simple hack: corner store thievery).

baby rabbit: is reigning hide-and-seek champion, is world’s tiniest survival-skills expert, is at his most confident when he’s telling you which plants would kill you if you ate them. Is a cat whisperer. Can mimic bird noises with terrifying accuracy. Is determined to be good enough to be Good Enough.

it’s widely known among the babusia kids that the first time you kill someone is half-test half-right of passage. It’s like, yeah, okay, Baba's decided you're ready to try this for Real (with a chaperone)—but also, some people are wired to be able to do this, and some just aren’t.

Quinn, for example, watches a couple of older kids come home throwing up and having night terrors about it, and then is himself completely fine. Quinn gets celebratory pie.

Rabbit, who knows Babusia tends to encourage the panickers into non-hitter lines of work—and who Knows she knows about how she got him, that she's maybe Expecting something from him—sneaks out to have his crisis in the privacy of the shed.

so: rabbit gets his pie, and gets a mentor, and gets to work, and he should probably not have done this, and like 12 years later he'll have a massive breakdown and build a cabin for himself in the middle of nowhere and be very normal about it :)

1. I’m a photographer as well as a graphic artist (but not like. A painter/drawer kind of artist!) and, on a general level, a maker and a tinkerer!

2. Fountain pens! I only write with ink, and only with fountain pens, and I use bottled inks/converters!

3. I’m pretty eclectic with music, but my top genres are alt rock, indie, indie pop, etc, as well as top 40s and some rap.

4. I feel like this is the hardest one for me to answer? Favorite movies/shows? Avatar: the Last Airbender has been a favorite show of mine since I was a little kid, but I have a harder time thinking of shows I would call a favorite in recent years. There are shows I’ve liked, and a lot of shows I’ve watched. But I’m picky! And demanding! It takes a lot to earn a place in Dani’s Trophy Case of Favorites. 😌 I would say I quite liked A Quite Place (movie), and I liked Us (movie). When it comes to TV shows, I have a hard time being pleased with them if they don’t end well. As a result, I have a penchant for a good limited series/miniseries (because they’re stories that have an end in mind and the plot reflects that, dagnabbit).

In The Goodfellows? I think I stand I chance. I can exercise my sparkling wit and lovable personality to the best effect. I’m gonna give myself an 8/10 survivability rating. Even if I don’t have the right skills, I can go crying to the person who does and they’ll save me. Maybe.

In Creatures’ Cradle? I’m super $**!%d. 😌 1/10 survivability rating. And that 1 is me being nice to myself. The day the apocalypse breaks out I would probably be patient 0. I am self-aware. I would not do well in an apocalypse. Zombies care not for aforementioned sparkling wit and lovable personality, and I have all the muscle of a boiled spaghetti noodle. So it’s a no go.

Greater Than Gods (Cruz): Well. I’m going to be optimistic. And say that I have the wisdom not to do things I shouldn’t do and not to rock boats I shouldn’t rock. I’m going to give myself a 7/10 based on insider information, but also based on reckless optimism!

Vardir (Cruz): Cruz says this is a lighthearted game, so 10/10 LOL.

When it Hungers (Roast): I’m giving myself a nice, mediocre 5/10. I think I could put my mind to work here; I joke that I’m the village idiot, but I’m actually pretty smart! Unfortunately, I’m also curious, and maybe a little bad with authorities who won’t answer my questions. So I knocked off a lot of points due to the fact that I’d probably poke the metaphorical bear. So it’s a real coin flip as to whether I’d really make it or not.

Orthall Bay (Nines): Considering the genre is “horror” and the game intro includes the words “monster” and “maim,” I’m giving myself a whooping, enthusiastic 3/10. Yes, folks, I am that confident in myself! Once again, I can’t charm the socks off a monster (or can I?), so one of my greatest weapons is snatched from beneath my feet. Alas!

1. Well, writing is a very, very, very, distant hobby since Words Hard, but I like to crochet and sculpt a little! Anything to do with fiddling with my hands and I’m good to go. And like, debatable but graphic design is my passion [insert clown emoji here since Tumblr said No]

2. Oh yeah a bunch! DnD yelling at people, thinking of arson, crocheting, rock climbing and simply vibing. I got into podcasts a few years ago and I’m always looking for more recs, so if you have some, hmu 😤

3. Pls,,,,my music taste is,,,so weird do not let me expose myself with lack of consistency but uhh. Current songs that are stuck in my head include; Cult of Dionysus , Achilles Come Down and The Last Shanty

Creature’s Cradle: maybe a 4/10 and only because of pure spite keeping me alive long enough to smack someone. I’ve prepared for hypothetical  zombie apolcapyses and I won’t hesitate to bap, but will be bapped back because I’m weak as hell. 

Greater Than Gods: a toss up between 2/10 and 7/10! I can vibe and be chill but I also have terrible impulse control so... 

Vardir: hm....I think pretty good survival rates all around? If you ask me to fight then like, okay sure, your knees are mine. So maybe a 8/10? 

When it Hungers: .......8/10 just because I’d refuse to die if I can be a cool creature. Living for the aesthetic can and will drag me outta hell. But I’m also clumsy as hell so I’d probably crash as a porcelain or hold a rooster and perish (aka, real rating is a good 3/10) 

Orthall Bay: 2/10, nope. Nope I’d be taken out in a heartbeat. Monsters can go pspsps and I’d head straight into the dark creepy forest like a fool if someone comes @ me. Half the time I’ll just assume it’s sfx makeup and vibe until it’s too late.

Aside from that, I recently got into podcasts. Currently going through Hello From The Hallowoods and Shelter and Warning, which are made by queer creators!

2. Oh oof, there's quite a bit so I'm just gonna put down one thing. For some reason, I really got into collecting tiny astronaut things? I recently bought this astronaut desk light, and I've got a package coming in for the miniatures I ordered. No purpose for them other than I think they're neat <3

3. I'm a bit private with my music taste (even tho I have Spotify connected on Discord lmao), but there's 5 songs that I'm currently obsessed with. I keep replaying them over and over again. Just squeezing all the serotonin I could get outta them.

I can't really say I have a fave TV show or movie because I can't really just pick one, but my current fave is 9-1-1 and Resident Alien. 9-1-1 because I just really love the found-family dynamics and how the show tackles sensitive topics, and Resident Alien because it's lighthearted comedy. My all-time fave movie is Flipped! I have the book too and I like rereading from time to time <3

“Something that wasn’t Bendy. I will never understand that drive” is a pretty clear nod to Henry wanting to be with Linda, which makes for a nice contrast with Joey regretting not having a family of his own

It’s weird, because Joey keeps saying he made Bendy, yet the scene in which he was made clearly shows Henry doing it. Like he didn’t even try to hide it

Part 4, Chapter 5

In terms of characterization:

Henry seems right, nothing else to say there

I know some people have said Jack being an attention whore doesn’t fit with canon, but he mentions needing a quiet place to compose here, so I think he’s just the type of creative who can’t focus with noise and not someone who doesn’t want to be around other people by default. Him brushing off Joey getting their award is a bit more questionable, but I also noticed here that Sammy was the one who dictated if they both took the job (Jack obvs. wanted it but still). I don’t think him wanting attention and him being a pushover are two incompatible ideas.

Sammy is much better here than in DCTL (he’s not being an open bigot, for starters). I do question if he’s being a bit too much of an asshole though. Don’t get me wrong, he is, but I got the impression from BATIM (and the Hot Topic Q&A) that he can be an asshole sometimes, but isn’t 24/7. Seems a hair too aggressive here, especially as he doesn’t have a reason to be pissy. He’s not openly mean like he was in DCTL though, so like I said, it’s better.

Notes: -Not exactly a translation note but more a kyuudou tidbit: you gotta clap as you say you’re about to go get the arrows so the people know to stop shooting and well. Not shoot you. -My old friend 水流(mizunagare)/flow of water. There’s a lot of stretching for context for this one folks but I went with the assumption of Kaito thinking his form isn’t ‘flowing’ well. -This is usually written as ‘some truth’ but that doesn’t really sound like Ryohei imo -I can’t find for sure what Minato said back there but I’m going intelligent guess it’s that, if I happen to figure it out I’ll edit it properly right away! -Since Nanao was poking fun at Kaito here yes that is exactly what he said, the word is 馴れ初め(naresome) it’s also in the title~ -Nanao literally said ‘5w1h’ aka the who/what/when/where/why and how of a situation. -Usually I would use just “now, now” or “there, there” for まあまあ but leaving it as just that seemed really incomplete. -The word (反採用/hansaiyou) Nanao says in itself doesn’t exist as a ‘word’ per se in japanese though literally it means ‘opposite of acceptance’ from 反(han)/anti-, in opposition and 採用(saiyou)/acceptance, appointment so. Riverdale Reaction 3x15 - “American Dreams”

Riverdale: Where dreams go to get punched in the face. But there’s also cake. And Bughead. So...it’s not all bad.

I want to hug this boy. FP and Jug havin’ a bondin’ moment. MY HEART! Cue me dramatically head-banging to “Your Love is Just a Lie” thanks to Gladys and JB Jones, amazing actresses in their own right.

“This house is my past, and I just want to be done with it.” Oof, FP is part of Alice’s past. BURN. Also, sappy me loves how concerned Jughead is for Betty’s feelings and the soft way he looks at her all the time.

I think some of their conversation on the stairs was cut, but it would be awkward for Betty to just…stay in her room with the mom-in-law she’s barely met. I hope Jug takes it and keeps it as a Betty shrine and talks to Archie through the window on those string-cup phones XD

No food in the Pop’s scene? I’m aghast.

Okay why are Toni’s boobs in my face? Is this a metaphor? And the trip conflict seems like poor planning on everyone’s part. I thought Cheryl was part of the Pretty Poisons but Toni’s talking about them like she’s not? Mehhhh?

Is Reggie just a doorman now?

Wow. The Pretty Poisons are possibly the worst security team. Karoake-ing instead of standing guard? Also, I’m creeped out by the Lodge/Topaz angle.

Did they cut a storyline from Falice this season, because I don’t remember them doing much more than the occasional hookup and vaguely wondering if their children had been murdered. At least FP acknowledges he probs wasn’t the greatest partner and feels like he owes it to his family to try with Gladys.

Because when Veggie started, it seemed like she understood he was a good influence and lackey and was receptive to that. Like, he’d boost her up. Not siphon stuff out. Even if she’s going out with him to essentially use him, Hermione would’ve approved, and since that seems to be the ridiculous story arc they’re going with, let Veggie be healthy! Damn!

Aw baby Jug worried about his mom’s motivations. Not a single conversation since she’s been back? Also Jug’s face during, “Sounds nice. Is it true?” melts my heart. I mean, did he expect her to come clean? I dunno. She’s good, though, as a charming villain. Pretending she wants the fam together again.

OH MY GOD. “The best damn Sheriff Riverdale’s ever had.” My face was prety much Jughead’s. KELLER IS THE MAN who has lost evidence, purposely ignored investigating because he “might” know the murderer, wrongfully imprisons/takes in people, and repeatedly lost people in holding cells to murder/suicides. But yeah. Best Sheriff. Compared to Minetta? Why not?

Are there enough living officers to even be paired with Serpents? I was under the impression they tend to fall asleep and be terrible or dead XD The FP and Jug police car scene was nice, actually. Character! Yes! More of this!

Reggie…”I put on suspenders! I wear a nice shirt! Why didn’t I get the girl like Jughead did?!” I don’t have an answer for you, buddy. That doesn’t do it for your girl/s, I guess. Looks nice to me though ^-^

Thank goodness for Betty, making sure Archie isn’t impaled by a bunch of guys in costumes. I’m not surprised she doesn’t care/remember about King of the Mountain or whatever but this memory suppression/loss thing is just another thing to toss onto the toppling pile of “things I worry about for B. Cooper.”

Girls having sleepovers, drinking hot chocolate and talking about life is where it’s AT. Also I love the contrast of Betty’s cotton PJ’s and Veronica’s silk.

Hrmrmrmr okay. I love the drip noise in the bg of the “source” scene. THEY READ EACH OTHER SO WELL! I wish the show allowed them more small moments like the tilts of their chins and deep longing looks like this. I love Betty for protecting Veronica’s safety without compromising the seriousness of her situation, and that Jughead reluctantly but definitely believes her.

I did not like the way he shut her out of it to confirm his mom’s shadiness on his own. Not letting her help in season 2 did not end up in a good place. Hrmph. Don’t like it. *folds arms* Don’t like that at all. (and yes, I know they’re still trusting and in a good place but this is a REACTION piece so ya know)

I love Hiram’s little “Oh, Archie? You need shady hideouts to deal with the assassins I sent? I’ve got plenty!”

Cheryl is such a bitch. I can’t. Veronica is supposedly her friend, right? One of the people who showed her sympathy during her lowest point? But this is the second time she’s robbed the Lodges. And why? Because she gave Toni (and by extension, CHERYL and the Poisons) the opportunity to make some $?

I tried to fast forward through the Choni sex scene and ending up having to watch the whole thing anyway because I had no idea what was happening in the Archie fighting scene XD Did they just bring a blindfold IN CASE? and the music was fun but the intercut with violence was typical Riverdale awkward. At least we could actually see them? RIverdale sex scenes are usually so dark!

“ENTER THE KRAKKEN!” Omg only this show. Precious beans celebrating Archie winning were precious.

This Choni breakup is weird. Kinda a bizarre non-conversation about priorities.

Haha Hiram is so proud of his quest abilities. I’m surprised he didn’t go to cheer for blood. Is this “businesses run by teens” season in Riverdale? I was happy with the Blue and Gold, but hey--have them run gangs, law enforcement, speakeasies, and gyms too. Why the hell not?

XD Oh man Gladys hitting low with “I did it for your dad and if you tell, it’ll break him.” Honestly, it’s a little hard to tell what’s the truth and what’s a spin with her about their past. Either way, they’ve created a great tension.

Haha ok there is a solo cup booze fountain at this party and I think they made it yellow-gold as if that makes it classy? It’s hilarious.

FP you big nerd why would you bring up the infamous birthday party? I think he remembers it as a cute gesture, which is hilarious. Bughead match in their cute soft sweaters! I love this look.

Oh man I cried when Fred gave him a hug and talked about everyone has their own path. This shooow. That maaaan <3 Even FP’s moments of not feeling like he deserves this or “something’s not right” were great, like spinning the star with his name written on it (Betty’s handiwork? or one of V’s underlings?)

first, nini’s questions:

1. How many pets have you had in your life?

one. I’ve always wanted them but my mom and I have always lived in tiny apartments and had no way to care for a pet so it wasn’t until I was 17 that we adopted a kitten!! his name was merlin and he was the laziest, moodiest lil ball of fluff I’ve ever met. I.. had to give him away a year later because we moved to a place even smaller that wouldn’t allow pets so long story short I’m scarred for life and don’t think I can ever take any more pets without feeling guilty to my bone 

this is merlin btw I love him with all my heart and he now lives in a farm. as far as I know anyway.. :(

2. Do you believe in destiny? Why?

mmm interesting question. weird, metaphysical theories aside, I don’t believe anything is set in stone per se, but I do believe that some things are just... meant to be? in a way? for example, you can’t tell me ryan and shane weren’t meant to be friends and find each other in such an unlikely place as they did. one of my mottos, completely stripped from context because it’s from a rather pretentious tv show, is “the universe is rarely so lazy”. meaning that good things happen for a reason, and that you trailed that path for that to happen. yknow what I’m saying? I can’t really explain this without writing a 10 page essay because that’s just how my gemini ass thinks 

3. If you could chose one person on the great beyond, would you take the chance to talk to them? 

you mean someone who has passed away? oh yeah, I would talk to my grandmother. she was raising me and died when she was 4 and that changed not only my entirely life but our whole extended family dynamic... so many questions.

4. From all your hobbies, which one would you love to make a living of?

oh man, writing. I’ve been dreaming of being a writer ever since I was 9 or something. never panned out but that would certainly be the dream. if I could work with videos, subtitling, tv shows, cinema etc that would also be dope as hell!

5. What’s your favorite color palette to wear?

fkgjfsdgiusfdksd I have no fashion sense whatsoever, idk? I do like to wear dark clothes (because weight..) and reds (because pale).

6. What’s your opinion on queerbaiting?

I don’t have the time for it. for starters, it’s something that usually comes from people with very poor writing skills that can’t come up with plots interesting enough to keep viewers/readers hooked in. that already says something. no offense to anyone who is a fan of shows like these, but when it’s mostly written by white men I just don’t have any high hopes for it. you can ask flavs what my reaction was like when I realized the character I had headcanon’ed as wlw in hannibal was actually a wlw. I couldn’t believe it, because what???? since when does that happen, especially in a show run by a white man??? kjdfghsjgd 

I think this is part of a bigger conversation but my point is, don’t fall for it. I know it’s all part of the fight for representation, asking big names to produce big shows with lgbtq+ characters in it and so on, but for the love of god, watch something else too!!!! let GOT rot and die!!!!!!!!! look up different, smaller, cheaper shows, that’s where you find lgbtq+ content creators!!!!!! there’s so many wlw webseries out there, you wouldn’t believe it. you have a choice. don’t give any more of your time and love and word-of-mouth to shows/movies that clearly have no interest in being more diverse. they don’t deserve you. 

and that’s not to say any of it is on us. quite on the contrary, they’re using us. but aside from calling out their bullshit, we do have a chance to boost lgbtq+ content creators. don’t let them fool you into thinking they’re doing you any favors, or that they’re our last chance so we should be paying attention to what they’re doing/saying. fuck them!!!! you can’t queerbait me because I don’t trust you or give you the chance to do it. and you can shove your very straight, very white shows where the sun doesn’t shine, @ hollywood.  

7. Is there a language you would love to speak?

french and korean, mostly. I can understand a little bit of both, but I really wish I was fluent :( oh, will to live and learn, where art thou...

8. Do you have, like, a dream so wild you think it’s impossible?

kjgnsfdkjhjjs having enough money to support myself and my mother??? I don’t have any big, wild dreams, I think. just.......... living comfortably would be a+  

9. How many AUs of your own life do you have in your head?

oh man. I keep thinking about living somewhere in idk iceland or scotland just like... tending goats or something. that’s the most comfortable version of myself I can think of.

I also like to imagine if I could handle being a film director, because that sounds like fun. maybe a screenwriter? anything creative in films, really. 

there’s also the unattainable dream of having a wife and idk maybe adopting a kid? and we’d just. support each other. and love each other. and that’s just. I. [cries]

I like to think how things would be if I were actually hot and not socially awkward.. I’d be someone completely different, basically lol 

10. If you were to meet your younger self, do you think they would think you cool or not?

oh god, younger me would hate present me D: I had such high hopes for myself, I had lots of dreams lol never in a million years did I think I’d be where I am today...

“prototype” by viktoria modesta is just GORGEOUS. I can’t get over this video & song and it’s been years.

“jackpot” by block b looks creepy as shit but the context makes it such a clever yet fun video. take into account that these guys were screwed over by the kpop company that created the group, and that the lyrics talk about hitting jackpot in an industry that’s savage to say the least. to me this video is a visual representation of what a dangerous trap entertainment companies are in the kpop industry, and it also ties in with the groups’ story of being made into dolls by a company and then telling them to fuck off in the end lol 

“treat me like your mother” by the dead weather. I don’t know why I just love it. (cw: gun violence)

2. What’s a favourite memory of yours?

I have plenty of good memories, thank god. I think one of my favorites is just hanging out with my friends in 2008-9; one of their older brothers was driving us around town, we were listening to the white stripes at full volume, singing along, all sitting pressed up close together in his shitty car. man, my teenage years would’ve been fantastic if I had stayed there with them!! 

3. Do you play video games? If so, which one’s your favourite?

I DO!!! I mean, not as much as I’d like because a) no money to spare on games/consoles, and b) I suck at basically everything. but I’m obsessed with paladins these days, and I’m also a big fan of LOTRO. I like horror games--mostly the resident evil and silent hill type--and fps. I grew up playing some tomb raider, medal of honor, resident evil... oh, those were the days. 

4. How did you first get into [your fandom of choice]?

with bfu it was that kind of thing where I’d see a meme or two cross my dash and it was always this ridiculous screenshot, or those “that’s it, that’s the show” kinda things with dozens of thousands of notes... until one day I was incredibly anxious, and I needed to watch something or I’d never finish the assignments I had for college. so I just thought “oh hey I should check out that unsolved thing people like so much, it’s buzzfeed so it’s probably good bg noise to work with” lol and it did work, and I did finish my assignments, and that means that I first watched the show barely paying any attention to it because I was busy doing something else. but ryan’s and shane’s voices helped me relax and to this day they still help a lot with my anxiety, to the point that I need to keep coming back every minute or so during episodes because I get distracted just listening to their voices and not absorbing a word lol

5. How did you first get into fandom in general?

uhh.. well, I was a big “pottermaniac” (that’s how I called it) since I was 9, but that was before I realized fandom was a Thing on the internet too. I remember when I was maybe 10 or 11, I entered a chatroom (god, those were wild) just in time to see someone saying in all caps HARRY POTTER IS GREAT AND YOU’RE ALL DUMB FOR NOT SEEING IT or something fkdsjgfdugfsdk and it was this girl using the nickname fawkes. she was older than me, I think that 15 or something, and we exchanged addresses (!!! how am I alive!!!) and were pen pals for a while. but it took me so fucking long to actually find the fandom online that I think my first brush with it was with the arctic monkeys forum I found online in 2008, where I mistakenly said I liked “the muse” and people laughed at me so I never went back to it lol then in 2010 I found out about kpop and that’s when I really dived head-first into fandom life. took me long enough (tbf I was very against the notion of being a “fan” because I was an idiot).

6. What’s at the top of your bucket list?

great fucking question. no idea. I guess.. traveling overseas? if we’re talking wild, distant things. but closer to my reality, getting a job that pays me at least the minimum wage disjgdfgkfsdk #fuckinternships

7. What’s something not many people know about you?

I love dancing and miss it like hell.

8. What’s your favourite medium for storytelling - movie, book, television, musical, comic, internet video, video game, something else? Why that medium?

ohhhhhhh this is an interesting question. as much as I love writing, and think that’s one of the best things we humans have ever come up with, I do love.. musicals? not necessarily theater--although that’s great and I’d sell my soul to see chicago live--but I love the idea of telling stories through music. I really wish we could bring back the custom of telling stories orally, and through music, and that we could as society agree that collective singing is beautiful and should be reintroduced in our day-to-day lives. sure listening to (1) artist singing is great but hAVE YOU TRIED SINGING ALONG DURING A CONCERT WHERE EVERYONE ELSE IS SINGING TOO? best fucking feeling in the world. 

we had two bands in brazil, in different periods of time, that were so incredibly famous they’re still cornerstones in our music history. one was legião urbana, some folk-ey rock band that had a couple of songs telling these really long stories that I LOVE with all my heart. faroeste caboclo is our bohemian rhapsody, most people my age or older know the lyrics to it. and mamonas assassinas was this comical (?) rock band that sang dumb, fun songs that usually told stories too and that was the best. I miss that kinda thing. 

9. What’s your favourite food?

red meat, mainly churrasco. but I also can’t live without chocolate milk AND the whopper. capitalism has me by the stomach.

10. Do you have a joke to share?

fjgfsdgskfdgfsk I don’t.. it’s been so long since I last tried telling a joke, I don’t think I know any?

11. What song/artist helped you through your struggles?

pitty has been a big part of my life for some 14-odd years now. “be ok” by ingrid michaelson and “starlight” by muse were my anthems when depression hit hard during my teenage years. the white stripes has also been a constant, with gems like “blue orchid” and “a martyr for my love for you” turning into sort of theme songs for certain parts of my life. choi sam helped me through college. and even though they were a huge disappointment to the point that I stopped listening to them altogether, block b gave me a good 4 or 5 years of distraction from life.

Hello I love your art and love the new kiribaku kids. I did research on mako sharks and it said "The shortfin mako is on record as the fastest-swimming shark, capable of bursts of speed up to 18.8 metres per second (42 mph)." Its jaw is powerful enough to eat swordfish and sea turtles. And "Like other lamnid sharks, the shortfin mako shark has a heat-exchange circulatory system that allows the shark to be 7-10 °F warmer than the surrounding water. ". So I think mako would be an excellent hero

Never said she won’t be! As I’ve already explained tho the concept is that she’s young and most of he quirk-related abilities just haven’t developed yet - if she’d been living with her biological parents (which means, other people with a shark quirk) they would have already known what to expect from the quirk/she would have knows watching them, but as things stand she’s being raised by two people who’ve never known anyone else with that quirk, so they’re going at it completely blind. As far as Bakugou and Kirishima know her quirk’s abilities could stop at what she has now, but that doesn’t change that they’ll do their best to help her become the best hero of her generation, if that’s what she wants

Anon said: I can't believe the KiriBaku kids are literally Sharkgirl and Lavaboy, it's very cute. I also wanna say that Mako looks very much like one of the student from Ketsubutsu Academy, Nakagame Tatami, who has a "turtle quirk". Could it be that Mako is Tatami's biological kid and that when Tatami died (presumably from battle) Mako got adopted? Their quirks are a little similar (water-animal based), and hero's kids usually have very strong quirks even from a young age. Just a theory, love the kids tho!

I know you didn’t mean anything bad by this and I love how into them you are (thank you for liking them!) but please never, ever tell an artist that their OCs are literally some other characters, that’s the worst thing any creator can ever be told. Like, while I don’t exactly mind it since I knew this would happen even before posting them (as I said, I do know they remind of them - even though Tai’s quirk isn’t only about heating things up - and I’m still of the opinion that Kiri and Baku are pretty damn similar to Sharkboy and Lavagirl themselves so kids inspired by them were bound to remind of them, when coming from me) you might in the future find someone who’ll take it bad enough that they’ll just trash the characters and never work with them ever again, which I’m sure you don’t want

She can’t! For two main reasons: the first, she uses gills to breathe underwater - at the sides of her ribcage - which means that there’s no air passing across her throat to make her vocal cords vibrate to produce sound. Technically she could probably find a way to switch between breathing systems just enough to make herself able to talk, but it requires a type of coordination she still doesn’t have. She tried, nearly drowned herself, Kirishima freaked the fuck out and forbid her to try again at least until she’s ten; the second reason is that as far as I get it sharks don’t actually make noises underwater, which is why she can’t naturally talk while submerged and needs to switch between breathing systems for it to work~

It’s not my fav ship for either but I do ship it too!!! They’re so nice tbh and they’re two of my fav girls in bnha so that’s an A++++ concept for me - and I’m sure you’re not alone!!! I’m pretty sure I read more than a fic with that ship as a bg one, so there must be people who main it too~
