Hello! I'm back! (ish)
How are you guys? ♡♡♡
I managed to cross off a few things from my bucket list and dare I say, girlie is feeling hella blessed despite looking like a zombie after a week-long holiday in and out of the country.
We got to see the 'Tolkien Door' at St. Edward's Church in Gloucestershire, which is rumoured to be the inspiration for the Doors of Durin. You guys know I'm a big Tolkien nerd. XD
We also revisited the stone staircase at Bodley Tower in Oxford, which was the filming location of the Grand Staircase scenes in the HP movies (or some of it, at least).
Oh, and of course, we got to see the final race of the season as part of our anniversary trip! My partner and I are big F1 fans and we've had this race in our bucket list. It was lovely revisiting my old home and just complaining about the blaring sun once again, as one does when away from the bleak, grey skies of England. That didn't stop me from fangirling over Oscar Piastri though, even if he didn't make it to the podium this season.
Anyways, we did so many wonderful things in between and I am beyond exhausted but very much fulfilled. I am back to my boring ass life now, so that means more Seb pics and HL memes, I suppose. ♡

Hot Chocolate: Do they want kids? How are they around them?
🍡 I think Juza would be pretty flexible when it comes to wanting kids or not.
🍡 It’ll mostly come down to his partner’s choice, because he does like kids, he’s just pretty bad with them.
🍡 Like I can imagine y’all in bed after a long day, and the subject of kids kinda comes out of the blue.
🍡 “Kids? I mean, they’re nice n’ all, just I dunno if I could handle ‘em,” he’d mutter, idly toying with your hand. “It’s a lotta work, right? You think we could pull it off?”
🍡 And whether you laugh it off with a hard no or reassure him you both could take on the challenge, he’d smile, lightly kissing your cheek with a low chuckle, a rare occurrence.
🍡 No matter what either of you choose, he loves you with his whole heart, and wouldn’t trade what he has with you for the world, whether it means starting a family or not.
🍡 To expand on how he is with kids, he’s um. Bad.
🍡 Like bad to the point of him not wanting to show his face so they don’t get scared. *coughing in the general direction of the 7th anni event*
🍡 He really loves them, though, and wants them to feel safe around him, even if that means wearing that stupid mascot bear head.
🍡 You’ll have to reassure him he looks fine, and that most kids probably wouldn’t be scared of a guy like him unless he actually tried to hurt them, and even if one of them was, he could show them he’s not scary.
🍡 I can see him helping out at local children’s theater classes to get used to talking to kids, and he’s happy he can help them learn to do what he loves most.
🍡 One day, when you come by to walk home with him, you find him teaching one of the kids who happened to stay late.
🍡 “Yeah, you got it. You just gotta imagine it’s like… like you and him are friends, and you gotta listen to him to get what he feels, then tell it to us,” he explained, his tone soft and even. “Does that make any sense?”
🍡 “Yeah! Can I try one more time?” the kid replied, bouncing on his toes. Juza’s expression softened with a smile.
🍡 “’Course.”
🍡 It was at that moment he turned to notice you there, his body stiffening as his face reddened in embarrassment. You gave him a small wave, which he returned, before his hand shot back to the back of his neck.
🍡 “Wazzat good?” the child asked, his gaze flicking back to Juza, who hadn’t even noticed he had started.
🍡 “It was great,” he praised. “You should get home soon, y’know.”
🍡 “Right! Thanks!” With that, the kid sprinted off, dashing home.
🍡 You took Juza’s hand, praising him on his improvement with a small peck to his lips, plunging his face into a sea of red.
🍡 “Thanks… should we get somethin’ on the way home?”
🍡 You nodded, punctuating your agreement with a squeeze to his hand.

Coming Out Swinging; or, It's So Early In The Year To Be Over-Buying Books But Here We Are.
Okay, so: I know I set one of my bookish goals this year to be "buy fewer books," BUT! First off, preorders don't count, and second off, the Two Lines Press haul was logged under last year's book purchases, and it's not my fault they arrived a week later. RAVEN TOWER I have no excuses for.
I have really enjoyed everything of Two Lines Press that I've read so far--their Calico series are perfect bite-sized anthologies in translation, vaguely themed (and THIS IS US LOSING COUNT has the English and Russian version of the poems presented side by side! I can read both of those!!). I'm ride or die for Wayward Children installments (this is why I love January), and a friend spoke very highly of RAVEN TOWER so I picked up a used copy from HPB. I'm very pleased with my piecemeal haul to start the year! I swear I'll buy fewer books once I work through all my coupons/gift cards! I love books!!

well it took less than 48 hours to be back on my bullshit. it could be a few weeks but i really am just building myself an entire AtN. or at least nine scenes of it, which i will then pair with thematically relevant "post-canon" scenes with which they will share a chapter. and of course the chapter numbers will align with the houses. and of course it will be breathtakingly non-linear

baru facing the same choice as max in S4 whether or not she would marry a man to keep her rightful place at the top, therefore betraying her loves & herself. i want so bad for baru to make the same choice, to find a compromise & still be recognized as the true power, the fairer hand, but also i can see her betraying tain hu & the revolution. because why else would the book be called the traitor baru cormorant. we know this. we're too smart not to know this. the end has been determined before it even began.

I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished
