Continuation of this... But can be read as a standalone fic!

It started with dreams. Vivid visions of him in your sleep. The first time it happened, you thought it's because you consumed too much of the media he's in, comics, shows, movies, games, it's only natural that you see him here too. As a fan, you're ecstatic that he's in front of you, but he seems to feel more strongly about that.

The first time it happened, you two stood in a white void, with him looking haggard, panting to catch his breath and looking at you with wide blown eyes. He tried to reach out with shaky hands but the moment he touched you, you woke up.

The second time has him calmer than the earlier encounter. You two are still in that white void, but instead of immediately going to your side, you two sat in front of each other, fidgeting to pass time. He didn't spoke, just stared at you. You wonder if your brain can't conjure a voice due to how many actors that played him before.

If you much tried to move a muscle, his eyes snaps at you, ready to act at the slightest movement. Why is he so... jittery? He looks like he's close to a breakdown whenever he looks at you.

"___?"

He broke at the sound of his name from your lips.

You woke up after that.

Your weird dreams came frequently after, unlike the occasional, once-a-month appearance. Your silent and awkward exchanges continued for a few more nights, but he gradually got better at communicating, for better or for worse, and you two finally had a decent conversation on the fifth night. You wonder why he was so nervous back then? If there's someone who's supposed to be tweaking, it's you. He's... HIM! HE'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU—!

Your brain seem to have him as the main reference for what to show you every night. You thank yourself for that, being able to see him even when you're asleep is a plus points in your book, no matter how weird he acts when you meet. Besides, you get to actually know him beyond the media he's in, even if you're debating that whatever he said are just headcanons conjured in your head.

But looking back, it feeds in the pain of your heart. You'd long accepted that he doesn't exist, that his fate is already written and that he'll continue to live even after you're gone. For every issue, for every author, you've seen how his life unfold, his partners and families. You're just a reader, a fan, who observes everything from the sidelines, forever unknown to the person you admire.

Every time you read a new issue or watch another episode, you can't help that your eyes follows him. Was this how he felt when you meet in your dreams? You remember how your comics seems to show you strange panels, does that apply to the shows too? That sounds ridiculous, there's only one show that everyone's watching right now, he can't possibly—

Your breath hitched when he looked at the audience. Was that supposed to happen? Why is he looking like he's in pain? Why is he smiling like that?

A tear falls from your eye.

Tonight, you decided to talk to him. Even if it's a dream, at least you'll be able to have closure in this tragic love of yours. Again, you found yourself opening your eyes in that strange void you first met him with.

He looks excited, rushing to hug you the moment you appeared, with a big smile on his face. He's talking about something about a way over? A bridge, or a connection, you don't hear much over your own thoughts. You need to end this, this isn't healthy.

With a tired sigh, you slowly pull him into a hug, cutting his rambling off, which he happily reciprocated, nuzzling to your hair as he whispers how happy he is now that he can go meet you.

You need to put a stop to this.

Pulling away, you look up at him and with a sad smile, thanked him for all those times he made you happy. He was one of the driving forces for you to continue and be where you are now. You're happy that he appears in your dreams but you tell him that these dreams should stop. With trembling lips, you say that you love him and will always do, even if you two live in different worlds, even if you two can never be. You're happy just being able to watch him from afar.

...He doesn't know what to do. You're crying while smiling up at him. You want this rendezvous to end? Weren't you also happy to see him? This way of meeting was just a temporary solution, he just told you that he's now got a way over your world!

This won't do, you don't believe that he's real. You think that this is just a figment of your imagination. ...Alright. He knows how to fix this. You want these dreams to end? It will.

He gently grabbed your shoulders, snapping you out of your tears and leaning in to press a kiss on your lips.

Ah.

This is a nice way to end a dream, you think.

This is your closure.

You woke up that day with tear stains on your face.

Reaching out for your phone, your fingers instinctively moved to look up fanmade media of him before you stopped short, maybe you should take a break from him. You basically just broke up with him in your dream, hadn't you? Even if you two weren't really in a relationship.

Chuckling over your sad state, you tried acting like everything is normal. It's time to move on! You shouldn't cling on someone who doesn't exist and probably doesn't even know you! Though, despite everything, you see him everywhere, through the whispers of you friends about the new chapters, his name called through the crowd, which ended up being someone else's name, the ads you see whenever you're watching something else, it's relentless!

It's impossible to be free from him, huh...

You came back after a while, opening your laptop to catch up with the episodes you missed, the memories of those nights slowly fading into obscurity, you felt silly that you missed all these releases over some dreams. They were nothing but figments of your imagination, yet you made a pretty big deal out of them.

There's an extra episode after the season finale. A video with no thumbnail but has your first name as its title. Upon inspection, you found out that it's a private video only visible to you.

He smiles from the other side of the camera, it's a recording, a sloppy one at that. He looks disheveled, eyes puffy like he cried, but he looks at the recorder with so much love that it makes your heart ache. To whom is this video for? A tribute to someone? A special episode for a character? But all thought goes down the drain when he utters your name.

Suddenly, you're find yourself back to the white void, but being in his shoes. His voice sounds unsure, but his eyes didn't wavered. Hearing him say your name made the dam break. This time, you listened as you cried silently, tears flowing uncontrollably while your eyes never leaving the screen. He needed a catalyst, he said. Something in your world that will activate the spell from over his place to open the bridge.

He apologizes for scaring you, for not explaining everything properly and for being selfish. He really wants to be with you, and that made him reckless. So, he gave you space. Time for you to mull it over and decide for yourself if he's real or not. Whatever your decision will be, he'll accept it. If you refuse, he'll leave you alone and you can forget everything happened. But if you agree... He just smiled.

The video ends with him declaring that he loves you, with a pop up application with two choices, a yes and a no. That nerd, since when did he hacked in your laptop? Laughing at the absurdity of the situation and at the revelation that he's real after all, you pressed yes.

Droplets of your tears flew to the air when you whipped your head behind you, a portal opening with a crack. On the other side, there he stood, equally surprised at the sight.

Quickly, you stood up from your chair, running up to him. You haven't even taken a few steps when he ran to the portal and to your room, hugging your form and burying his face on the crook of your neck. Ah, so this is how he feels like.

Tangible, in your arms. You can smell a faint scent of perfume. He's in his civilian clothes, was he at home? He clearly wasn't expecting this with the way he clung to you, voice shaky as he confesses that he thought you gave up. That he still clung to the small hope that you'll see his message. That you'll say yes and accept him.

A kiss was shared when you two pulled away, tearful smiles and words of affection spilled as the two of you clung to the person you loved. For him, you're the consistent guiding light in his life.

For you, he's the guy who crossed realms just to be with you.

Ill start by explaining my proccess cause it was quite eventful!

The jumping off a cliff towards something was inspired off of this tiktok :D

Thought it worked GREAT for a character who was so dead-set on his goal he destroyed himself in the process of achieving it… And thats all I had in mind, Wingdings reaching twords his goal (a star/the player) and the rest I just went along with as I drew

I didn’t intend on the background being black, was just a placeholder, so once I finished the line art I fiddled with the color. thought some sort of “blue screen of death” would go well with the themes of what happens to him since he is IN a game. so the universe literally restarts (resets :3) itself to get rid of a glitch (him)

My theory currently is that his goal was to become some sort of player/gain the ability to reset, and once he did that, the game saw him as an error/glitch, so got rid of that- bro IS Turbo from wreck it ralph

After that whole idea- I was looking at some references to replicate the text and it made me go “OOOHOOO” when I saw the QR code like “oooo I could make my own and have some fun with that…” and so I did- and decided to link my original idea for that!

The cliff Dings is running off of has echo flowers because I SWEAR those are important. trust.

Him not wearing gloves is meant to depict how little he cares for his own safety in his last days. I did the same thing in my IM SANE amv!

The “star” having an eye is meant to show how its both the player, and seeing the stars/surface that Wingdings is reaching for.

The wingdings font covering Dings’ face/eye socket is meant to symbolize that perhaps he feels defined by his inability to communicate like other people naturally can.

“Ths Stars, They Cry Out Your Name” is my favorite thing in this… from Wingdings’ perspective, the only thing that matters, that understands him, that TRULY values him…is THE STARS. its like this goal that he has that will make him feel valued. Getting to the surface = being “worth it” But truly, the stars are the PEOPLE that care about him. Asgore, Alphys, Sans, people that are genuinely concerned over his obviously deteriorating mental health- they CRY out his name, not “call” like I had originally planned.

one of the things that bothers me most about late seasons btvs is the lack of continuity in relationships. like main events seem to carry over for the core crew, and the general emotion is there, but sometimes it feels like there should be stronger foundations where there is just sand, and it's incredibly disorienting. this seems to especially happen with spike, where he will have consistently positive and impactful interactions with the main characters in ways that should by all means be changing their impressions of him, and then in the next episode it's like none of that ever happened. that's enemy #1 soulless evil unthinking spike again, even though one scene ago you were playing pool with him and clearly realizing he experienced emotions and would die for you. like ??? where's the emotional follow-through.

some lesbian thoughts on elrond & galadriel

The dynamic between Elrond and Galadriel, despite being central to the show, sometimes feels under-appreciated in the fandom. Like many relationships in TROP, it doesn’t easily slot into a single category. It’s not merely one of friendship or kinship or mentorship

It’s not romantic, but it is emotionally intimate—and that seems to trip a lot of people up, even before 2x07. We’ve always appreciated how emotionally open Galadriel and Elrond are with each other, particularly given how guarded Galadriel is with most other characters.

She and Elrond have a long history prior to their reunion in the first episode, and during the course of the show they rely on each other as they navigate disappointment and loss, both personal and as relates to elven-kind.

They don’t always see eye to eye, but even when Elrond feels hugely betrayed by Galadriel’s choices, it doesn’t erode the love between them.

They’ve been separated during their respective darkest moments, but find solace and healing in each other’s presence. They bring light into each other’s lives, and together will be instrumental in banishing the rising darkness.

One of the strengths of Tolkien's work, and one of the reasons fans (including queer fans like us) return to these stories time and again, is the focus on platonic bonds that defy societal norms through the strength of their intimacy and commitment.

Of all the relationships we've seen on the show so far, Galadriel and Elrond embody this wonderful category-defying emotional intimacy most of all.

I know that it's common fanon belief to see Starlo as the younger sibling between him and Orion, but I actually like the idea of Starlo being the older brother and what it means for his family dynamic. Generally, the older sibling is expected to be the more responsible and mature sibling in the family. There's this expectation that the older sibling sets an example for the younger sibling(s) and that they'll look after the family/business once the parents get too old to do so themselves. So, what does it mean when the older sibling sorta betrays those familial expectations by behaving immaturely and ditching the family to do their own thing?

I'm trying to figure out how to put this into words in a clear and concise way, but I feel like if it's a case of Starlo being the younger brother, then there's this sorta "Ah, that's just the younger brother acting like a kid, y'know how it is. He'll grow out of it" dynamic, whereas if Starlo is the older brother, then it's more of a "Okay, he should've grown out of this by now, why's he still acting like this? Even Orion is more mature than him; what is going on?" sorta deal. (This frustration would be especially felt by Orion, who has to pick up Starlo's slack in his stead because his older brother isn't mature enough to work like he's supposed to!!!)

These are just personal musings, don't take my word as gospel! You can still do tons of interesting things with the Sunnyside family while having Starlo be the younger brother and Orion the older one. I just find myself gravitating more towards seeing Starlo as the older sibling.

Louis' "You're boring!" Could mean so many things, but I think what's most apparent about that line is that Armand takes no initiative just for himself. He's not really anybody, because he never goes out and finds himself or gets attached to anyone but Louis. Without Louis as his guide he's literally just sitting on a couch picking lint! That's the thing.

He orbits constantly around what would make Louis happy, and never really fully going what would make me happy? Ultimately that drive to please Louis is what drives him to torturing Daniel, not so much that he'd care to just do it. Ultimately, not giving proper care to Louis is just a way to make sure Louis knows he has to orbit around him as well, with shoving Lestat onto him just that other nail on the coffin. So, even if he fails to figure out how to make Louis happy with him, he still knows what Armand is good for, and better than.

That dependency is what drives Armand's abuse. It really just comes down to that. Armand doesn't even realize how suffocated he is by his own dependency. This is just how life is to him. (It shouldn't be lost either that dependency is a theme considering this episode also deals with addiction).

Daniel's fascinating because he's just so driven to be somebody. He's largely independent, he seeks things because he wants them. It's his drug to poke and prod at all the things that he shouldn't. Daniel's exciting because he lets Louis in to something different, lets him in to all this potential in another person that he can also do the same with for himself. It's a real connection. A two way street. It's easy to tell how Armand can be smothering then because he's never introducing him to anything really new, and most the ways both of them connect are all painful and traumatic. It's never just fun because there's always that layer of that pain. Fun died with Claudia.

50 years on they've gotten to a lot better place, both of them, but it's still that same shit. No seriously, "How is this any different from last time, Louis?"

Well... Because Armand's going to be, at the very least, making one [1] decision only for himself - and that's to hold power over Daniel's life. Fucking sick foreshadowing.

They aren't driving each other to the brink anymore but "The vampire is bored" STILL. Maybe it's even worse, despite being in better places, because Louis' sort of just been defeated by it. (I mean, can he even really leave this either?). He's accepting the dependancy cause he kind of has to. He'd literally ended up letting all the enjoyment be up where he can't reach [The book shelves]. Armand so desperately wants Louis happiness but what really ends up happening is that Louis ends up having to give Armand all his own. He's got no one or anything else to get it from. But like an iPad and an over the top eating ritual. Two extremes of what's just more lint picking.

This whole relationship is one I find just tragic inside and out. You have to just pity it, really. There's ways in which you can find yourself feeling bad for both of them. But you can only really be mad at Armand for any of it. Armand, who isn't even 'free' in any sense, having so little concept of his own independence, but is at the same time so controlling over other's. It's a tragic cycle. It's an infuriating one.

Louis at least has the mind to know when enough is enough. If just needing that extra push to get there. Armand's too scared of it being over to even try.

i’ve been scratching my head over the whole watcher situation. I’m not a fan myself but got dragged into it cus of the people I follow, i only watched their puppet history series and the buzzfeed unsolved series from way back- honestly, i couldn’t care less if they locked all their stuff behind a paywall. I’m so neutral on this whole thing, i might as well be swiss.

but i’m not neutral? In fact, the whole thing really bothers me and i couldn’t figure out why.

cus i get it, yanno. As a company that thrives on creativity, i understand you’d wanna cut yourself off the mega-capatalist-giant that is youtube to get rid of annoying restrictions, and asking monetary support from your audience so you can really stretch the limit of your creativity. I GET IT.

And it STILL bothers me!

And then I figured it out:

the whole “any future videos they’ll be making will EXCLUSIVELY be available through a streaming service you have to pay a monthly subscription for” comes less across as “please support us monetarily so we can grow as creators”, and comes more across as “if you want to continue being a fan, or even being a part of the audience, you’re gonna have to pay up. You have no choice in the matter. It’s either pay, or you’re not a ‘real’ fan or a ‘real’ part of our audience.”

THAT’S what’s bothering me about it. It feels like they’re gatekeeping who gets to be part of their community with money (that not everyone might have). And knowing where they come from and how they started…. That’s… extremely tone deaf. To put it gently.
