★。・:*:・゚☆ So, back in July... I mentioned I had a PIC-related gift to share with you all. This is what I was talking about. It's an official playlist that I have had SO much fun filling for the past TWO YEARS.
Yes, I started making this playlist in April 2021. I have waited a LONG time to finally release this to the world. Of course, I don't own a single song (I'm very not good at making music LOL) BUT!!! Every song has a relation to Partners In Crime in my head somehow.
Let me explain.
EVERY SONG in this playlist is in it for a reason. This may because of a SINGLE line, a SINGLE quote, a SINGLE strange reference. OR, it may fit the story SO well that it encapsulates the events of an entire scene, chapter, or heck, the ENTIRE comic. And yes, there are one or two songs I put in there that I listened to and went; "... oh my goodness. This is literally the entire comic. I can animate this." And I have not gotten around to animating them yet, because I do not have an iPad, but I WILL ABSOLUTELY BE MAKING SOME AMVs IN THE FUTURE. I GUARANTEE YOU.
NOT EVERY SONG in this playlist is entirely accurate to the story. What I mean by this; there are some songs, like I mentioned, that only relate to PIC through one line of dialogue. This may allude to the fact that the rest of the song has no correlation to PIC AT ALL. But of course...
I WILL NOT SAY WHICH SONGS RELATE THE MOST TO THE STORY. That is for you to discover yourselves. <333
The reason for the addition of the first song... is a bit of a long story. The short version of the story is this; on the 7th of November, 2020, I was listening to that song at a friend's house... and the idea of the comic came to me. Technically, Partners In Crime by Set It Off is the main reason this comic exists. Does this mean the entire story relates to the storyline of that song? I can confirm that while there are similarities, NO. My comic will not end the same way that the song does. If you haven't heard it before, I highly recommend it XDDD
I STILL UPDATE THIS PLAYLIST REGULARLY!!! If I hear a song that somehow relates to PIC, I will not hesitate to add it. So check in every so often to see if it's grown bigger!
YES, SOME OF THESE SONGS MAY SEEM VERY RANDOM. I can assure you that by the end of the comic, most of them will make a lot of sense contextually. Like I said, every song is in it for a reason. But for spoiler reasons, I won’t be sharing why some of these songs are there – some of them MAY imply future events. That’s all I’ll say ^^
YES, I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS!!! If anyone has a song recommendation for the playlist, I will review it myself and decide whether or not I will add it based on its relevance. Please note that I may turn some songs down, but I will appreciate each and every suggestion!!!
By making this public, I am allowing people to follow me on Spotify. I have a ton of other public playlists that you are free to peruse yourselves!!! Most are regular playlists, but there are some very goofy ones there too. I recommend my Ultimate Nerd Playlist (its like Russian Roulette but for your ears).
You may notice a few playlists titled “Works in Progress”. Those will be important later.
But yeah that’s about it!!! Feel free to look through the playlist, leave a heart on it if you like it, and follow me on Spotify to see what I listen to everyday XDDD

So is totk another reincarnation or like next Wednesday of botw?? How did thr environment and tech change so much xddd? Oh wait there could be multiple islands or something.
What are the explanations for shrines? Like they're just there for link to rave in
The trifecta or something like those three triangles are what i most see associated with loz. What did they represent??
Which variation of loz game first introduced you to it? Which is your fave?
If link and Finn adventure time met would they be best friends yes or no. Answer THIS ONE now1 bye
GOD BLESS YUOUUUUUU
-totk is a direct sequel to botw! iirc, totk started as botw dlc, but things got so Big they ended up making another game! we dont actually know how much time has passed between the two games, but there are a couple of things that point to it having been a few years.
>Tulin, who was a very young child (think 4 - 7?) in BOTW, is considerably older (10 - 13) in TOTK, as is riju (she went from being 11 - 14 to being 16 - 18).
>purah's age-reversal technology, which first accidentally made her revert to 6 years old in BOTW, has had its kinks worked out and shes back to looking like a very young adult
>major developments in various characters lives and in the various towns ALSO imply times progressed (zeldas moved in with link and has facilitated the creation of a school in Hateno, Paya is now chief of Kakariko, Sidon is engaged, etc etc).
so its not really the next wednesday after BOTW, its more like. a couple of years down the road. i like to think its been 6 years, just bc thats the actual gap of time between botws release and totks release and nintendo has based their game timeframes off of release dates before (splatoon does this a lot)
-if theres an explanation for the shrines in TOTK i donot know it yet <3 for BOTW, the calamity that strikes Hyrule is actually the 2nd time its happened. 10,000 years before botw, calamity ganon struck, and a link and zelda we dont know anything about managed to seal him away. the ancient sheikah of the time had the foresight to be like "omg what if he comes back" and so they made the shrines to help train whatever hero was around when ganon decided to come back in the future. idk why theyre just Gone in botw tho that shit sucks :/
-uaaah the triforce is so fuckinf weird. ok so its a wish making thing made up of 3 parts-- the triforce of power, triforce of courage, and triforce of wisdom (Woaoo spladfest!!!). if u wanna use it, you have to embody those 3 things, and u also have to be a mortal. if u DONT possess those three qualities, the triforce breaks and embeds whatever quality you embody most in you and the other two parts find people to shove themselves into instead. in skyward sword, link goes through a number of trials that help him develop the power, wisdom, and courage he needs, and he's able to make a successful wish. meanwhile in ocarina of time, ganondorf tries to take it, and he gets stuck with the triforce of power while the wisdom and courage parts go attach to zelda and link respectively. the triforce is a little. dumb i think </3 sorry
-my first legend of zelda was skyward sword, but i never got past the first ghirahim battle, so id just... keep restarting, playing to that point, and starting again. i was kind of obsessed with the opening and i would replay just to see the cutscene where Fi leads Link away to the sword in the middle of the night. I got farther in when i replayed it when i was older but i watched Chuggaconroys playthru all the way bc he loves the game as much as I do and shows u all avenues and details :]. my 2nd game was OOT on the 3Ds and i got to the fire temple and did a similar thing of playing thru the first bit and resetting to play over and over again. then beyond that ive played minish cap, twilight princess, hyrule warriors (wii u), wind waker, botw, and now totk. ive been a fan since i was 4-6, so ig ss/oot got me into it? but BOTW reaaally kicked things into high gear for me lmao. honestly what got me REALLY back into it was michpat6's aftermath series on ao3 because it completely recontextualized how i saw the series and its characters. my favorites are, in order; Skyward Sword, Breath of the Wild, Ocarina of Time, and the Minish Cap!
-ok waiot which. Link. heres wht i think hahehahea;
>wind waker: BESTIES they go on adventurs and be so silly togwtherr!!!! finn talks ab his parents and link talks abt his gma and sister!! they talk abt their nonhuman friends!!!! link shows him how to use the hyoi pears to astral project into the seagulls! bestieeeees!!!!!!
>twilight princess: not sure? TP link gets along great with weird ass kids but idk if that means he genuinely would like 2 chill w a weird ass kid like Finn aushjsa
>BOTW/TOTK: YES but she'd be much more mellowed than Finn. same shenanigans different demeanor yakno. also blond bitches w fucked up ripped off arms and sentient sword gang!!!!!!
>AOC: euurhhhg.no. i think he was a good bit more no nonsense pre calamity but then again he did eat rocks bc someone dared him to and ran like 2 miles bc got his motorcycle hijacked by zelda in this one so idk
>Skyward Sword: he'd be so sooo sweet and like. humor Finn? but unless Finn needed help w anything hed just gently turn down any offers to chill 2gether bc hes sooo focused on other things and the way his swords buzzing tells him he needs 2 get on it
>OOT: ok if hes a kid he'd think Finn is SO COOL but if its adult link i think hed see him as very annoying and would get on his nerves . idk oot link seems very frustrated at all times and like i cant blame him but i think his patience would be very very thin
>Majoras Mask: somewhere in the middle of adult and child links opinions. god knows how long that boys been in a timeloop i think he wouldve learned to appreciate the people around him more than he did as an adult shaped kid back in Hyrule but thats getting into Strawb's Meta Analysis Of Ocarina Of Time/Majoras Mask territory and that would take 5 billion years to explain so i wont here </3
>Minish Cap: tehy have hat. yes. also i read the manga for this one and he acts like sum sort of middle ground between finn and gumball watterson so uauhhhhh ya (nvn)b
>A Link Between Worlds: ok look. i havent played this game. i cannot tell u the plot. what i DO know is that theres this little freak dressed like a rabbit named Ravio who is bizarro Link from a reversed Hyrule called Lorule and im obsessed with him. anuways Ravio and Finn would also be alright buds and Ravio would like. totally cheer Finn on from the background but also he's stealin shit outta Finn's house sowwyyy

Alright then !
-In Wakko's Ha'penny song there a passage where Wakko says he's gonna buy his big bro a new underwear. Now the thing is that underwear in french is "caleçon" whereas pants is "pantalon". Two things important here : they have the same number of syllable and their end sounds the same. Meaning that in a song those two words are interchangeable and it was painfully obvious to me that they could have perfectly put "I could buy my brother new pants " but deliberately choose to put "I could buy my brother a new underwear". This part really cracked me up.
-Remember the joke where Yakko ask Wakko "You're turning in ?" "Turn into what ?" ? Well for the sake of conserving the jokes the translator made Yakko ask "And you, you're alright ?", which was sweet. (the joke translated literally but less accurately would be "And you, you're in shape ?" "In shape of what?")
-At the beginnings of the scene where Pinky misunderstandings lead him to nearly crashing their flying machines twice, Brain tried to end the conversation by saying "nevermind let's just continue". What's notable here is that in french he is very cheerful about it. Saying "Don't worry" in a tone that make it clear he really isn't annoyed. He's in a good mood that not even Pinky usual pinkyness can soar and it's hearable ! You can't miss it especially since in french Brain has a very deep supervillain voice that make him seems very cold 99,99% of the time.
-They added a James Bond references here and I don't know if it's the translator that couldn't resist putting it here or if it was an improv' of the voice actor that was kept but there's a time where Salazar tells Plotz "your mission if you accept it-"
-When the Goodfeathers bump into Pinky and the Brain flying machine and make them all fall (for the third time for Pinky and the Brain lol) in the original everyone is screaming incoherent things and we hear mostly the Goodfeathers. In the french dub the Goodfeathers are just screaming generic "AAAAAAHHHH" in the background but you can clearly hear Pinky (or was it actually >Pinky and not one of our dear pigeons ? Idk) screams : "I want to fly- I want to fly !!!!. And then there's Brain screaming at the top of his lung "MOOOMMMYYYY HEEEEEEELP". Did I mention that Brain had a very deep, serious mastermind villain voice in french ? XD
-There's no proper word for "cuteness" in french (there are for cute but not for cuteness) and instead of turning the sentences in another way so to not have to use it the translator just made the captain of the guard use a made-up word (which always sound a little silly in french). It honestly suits him well and his way of talking, I'm happy with that decision :)
-And finally my favorite change of the French Dub which I was very disappointed it wasn't a detail that wasn't in the original dub : at the end when The Brain say "preparing the sequel where we try to takeover the kingdom then the world !!!!" their end song play. In English the version with the voices not corresponding with any characters play. In French the version where the Warners sing that ending song plays ! And it does when the camera show the water tower !! The implication being that the Warner Brothers and Sister themselves are singing it from their Throne Room which implies that they know that their prime minister is trying to overthrow them and are somewhat supportive of that effort. And I just found it so hilarious and in character, I wanted to share !!! Reboot please make a sequel where Pinky, the Brain and Pharfignewton are trying to overthrow the kingdom "in the shadow" while the Siblings are fully aware of it and do absolutely nothing to stop them, preferring letting karma follow its path XDDD.
(Sorry if it was kinda messy, it's late for me right now, hope you enjoyed !)
OMG THANK YOU FOR SENDING ALL THESE FRENCH DUB FACTS??? this was so interesting, i love the bits about pinky and brain so much. i always wonder how some of the harder-to-translate jokes get handled and this list gave so much insight
Tumblr media
if anyone else has little fun facts from literally any of the dubs please share!

more dmmd thinky thoughts
im finally playing the dmmd official english translation & reconnect english patch and i have thinky thoughts. a lot of people call aoba & the dicksquad all gays, but if we take the game canon & translation seriously (I havent watched or played re:code yet so idk on that). then koujaku & aoba/sky blue are technically bi. no opinion on mink, ren (bc he had no interaction with outside people beyond Allmate form), or mizuki. more on noiz & clear later.
koujaku’s obviously a bisexual disaster- ladies man + crush on aoba forever. but aoba/sly blue is an interesting case. (note that in japan, its not uncommon for same sex kid friends to do skinship and aoba’s “fooling around with guys” in noiz’s route was apparently a jast blue mistranslation.) in noiz/clear’s original routes, aoba’s internal monologue implies having had slept with girls before. in virus reconnect english patch, he says young aoba “slept with a lot of girls” and in trip’s reconnect route he said aoba slept with anyone and then has a flashback of young aoba/sly blue offering to fuck a guy but ended up beating him up. ofc virus & trip also kidnapped and is abusing aoba in this moment so we cant trust what they’re saying + maybe mistranslation. now back to present day, koujaku says aoba is really bad with girls, and in noiz’s route, aoba mentions that he hasnt had sex in a very long time. my interpretation of aaaall this. is that koujaku was in the mainland & obvsly didnt know aoba’s punk slutty era, there was the whole rhyme/virus/trip amnesia & aoba forgot that he slept around. or if we take it into the split personality route, then its possible that regular aoba is gay but sly blue was bi.
noiz- ok the only interest he ever shows is towards guys. i’m sure he’s gay. i cant get a read on mink, but i might change my opinion once i’ve done his reconnect route. depending on what kind of indigenous(???) he is, most indigenous cultures were multi-gender/sexualities open so its he’s probably not labeled with anything.
clear... ok so he is tricky but the jast blue discord im in came up with something kinda crazy. so obviously, robots with personality, designed by Toue to blend into society, including having the ability to have sex & ejaculate xDDD The alphas all seem to be male form and clearly their penises are the sturdiest part of their body since that doesnt break or Aoba would have to take a trip to the hospital after Clear’s good ending LOL. (how Aoba didn’t get electrocuted with Clear sparking/short circuiting WHILE INSIDE HIS ASS, idk). so LOL the discord came up with the idea that Toue really liked it up the ass, so he designed robots that he’d like to fuck. so yeah, that’s Clear (or at least his & the alphas programming/design)

Trust Ch 2
Dragon Age Inquisition Cullen / Female Inquisitor Determined to put Cullen's fears at ease, not to mention the fears of their new templar recruits, Aredhel decides to trust these new allies and prove to everyone, once and for all, that she wasn't effected by the Envy demon, not to mention walking out of the Fade. She just hopes her faith hasn't been misplaced... This chapter for @chaos-company’s Angstpril's prompt 'Falsely Accused', and follows on from ~ Chapter 1, here ~ Eeeh that was fun to write!! The conversation in the first half is largely borrowed from a conversation that a Templar specialisation Inquisitor and Cullen can have, if they're romanced, but I thought a lot of it worked really well in this situation, too. I enjoy playing with mingling in-game dialogue and my own. It was also fun reading through all the templar specialisation powers to work out the mechanics of what they could/would actually DO in this situation! After all, the lore of the world implies that they'd have things they could do...But we rarely actually see them DO any of them with any kind of sense XDDD What they do here is based on their skill trees.Guess I'd better write part three! (On AO3 here) Chapter 1 ========================================== Light was dim in the empty sideroom that sheltered Andraste’s shrine. It shone muted through the windows’ coloured panes, a hint at the Maker’s presence that fell upon, but did not interrupt, the contemplative stillness with which His children would enter, kneel and pray. Its ceiling towered, allowing the statue to do the same, but the room itself was simple, taking nothing it did not need. The steps leading up to the holy image were far more modest than in city chantries, but still a sense of reverence had been laid, with each flagstone, into this approach to the Maker’s Bride. Up one side of the statue’s plinth, ivy had been left to grow, unchecked; in streamed the light, reflecting from the leaves like dappled summer sun, reminding Aredhel of the forests where she first learned to love the gods, and where, unexpected, the Maker had found her.
Candles sat upon some of the steps, their wax running onto stone as they petitioned people’s prayers to their Lady, who in turn petitioned for them to the Maker. Or so the belief went.
The Inquisitor knelt before the statue, an unlit candle in her hands. Conjuring flame in her palm, she cast as she prayed, knowing that the two did not combine easily in the minds of those serving the Chantry, but feeling a peace as she did so all the same. She offered the fire as a part of her prayer, casting it with love for the deity she was attempting to serve, and as the wick caught, she felt that love return to her, tumbling within her core like a growing laugh or the early glows of joy. It was the love of a mother. With great care, the Inquisitor - Andraste’s supposed Herald, if the faith of others was to be believed - set the candle down upon the stone, murmuring extracts of the chant and prayerful sentiments of her own. One day, she vowed, she would have the full gardens here restored and converted into a chantry space. She wanted to build spaces for the other faiths, as well - statues to the gods of her own people, which deserved an outdoor place of their own, and a space in the Undercroft or even deeper below for the dwarves to mark their Ancestors. The Inquisition was young, but there was much she wanted to do for it; for now, though, first, she must do this. She knew the footsteps in the doorway before she turned.
“I… had hoped you would change your mind.” Cullen looked tired - often true, but even more so today. Instantly, Aredhel’s stomach crunched with guilt, even though it was for his sake above all others that she had decided to do this. It crunched even so, another balled fist within her, alongside a first one made of her own fear.
She rose, standing before the statue as she faced him, other people’s candles around her on either side. The pair’s voices echoed in the quiet, sacred space: “I can be stubborn when I want to be.” “So I’ve noticed.” Cullen’s voice curled with a hint of chiding play, and for a moment, that alleviation made them both smile, but it didn’t last. So often, gravity caught up with them; they were two people who naturally chose steep routes to walk.
Aredhel moved towards the ex-templar, each step a distinct sound in the silence. The closer she drew, the clearer she saw the anguish that he was trying to hide. Something about it struck her, taking her a step outside of time as she wished, in a sudden yearning, that they had pursued this thing between them for long enough to know each other fully. If today went badly, the idea of their story ending as missed or half-explored connections broke her heart - they were one being, still working out the early steps of being two uncertain halves. But, in many of the ways that mattered most, they were already that team, and she had no intention of dying today. “Please, reconsider,” the Commander began as she reached him, his hand remaining at his hilt, his body language formal and closed despite the intimacy that crept into his voice. “You have given enough. You needn’t do this.” “Cullen…” The elf tilted her head, sad and reassuring, all formality taken out of the equation by the way she looked at him.
He looked defeated. “I don’t know what else to say.” “You know why I’m doing it.”
"My…”  He faltered, interrupting himself with a look of pain, cut by the jagged blade of frustration. When he continued, his voice was strained, confiding; “Were I taking lyrium like I should, yesterday would not have happened. I cannot let that choice kill you." His eyes and voice pleaded, his last sentence only not a whisper because of how fervently it was uttered. Stepping that bit closer, the Inquisitor found her Commander’s hand and took it, raising it between them and pressing it to her. She gripped it for emphasis, knowing that there were walls between her words and his ability to accept them. "There is no ‘should’. And your concerns were fair. If you've been thinking them, others will have. I need to do this for them.” In her heart, more than anything, she was doing it for him: the fear and disorientation she’d seen in him yesterday broke her heart, and it would be foolish to assume that they would never resurface. However, her care for him had illuminated a wider picture that she should have seen before. She should have done this the first day they returned home with the templars. “People put faith in me. More than I ask for. Perhaps more than is right. And that includes people from the chantry.” One hand still holding onto his, her other cupped his face; even through his grief, his eyes creased a little in a half-smile at the touch. “They’re following a mage, Cullen. That could change things, for everyone.” Thank the Maker, it was a passion they shared. “I need to meet that with integrity."
A tendon tightening in his jaw, Cullen nodded. He couldn't deny it. "In Haven you nearly…" Haven was still impossible to speak of, for many reasons. Now, more so. Mirroring her, he cupped the Inquisitor’s face, needing to hold onto her essence. “I know what you are willing to give… But…” Drawing her close to him, their foreheads met, their eyes closing as they connected. Grief and honesty hung heavy on his words. “...I do not know if I can watch you give it.”
“If I’m really me, I won’t have to," she countered, nudging his nose with her own, smiling at him despite her own anxieties. Not letting them get the better of her, she pulled back enough to meet his eyes again, releasing his face and instead resting her hand against his forearm. Against his bracer, the templar emblem under her palm. “Trust them.” “I do.” Cullen sighed, exhausted. He'd been exhausted for a long time. “And I don’t. I’ve seen too many reasons not to. I've been reasons not to…” Sighing again, he relented. She would not change her mind, and perhaps she was right not to. One hand at her face, the other at her back, her pulled her back to him, stepping to meet her, their foreheads connecting once more as he tried, as gently as he could, to envelop her, in some way shield her from what was to come.
“I…will always back your decision. You know that, right? You have my support.” “Even if it’s this…?” With an even quieter sigh, he agreed, words badly audible through their concern. “Even then…”

The templars had gathered in the combat square - a cordoned off area of suitable size, and central to Skyhold. Their shields glinted sharply in the light, the Sword Of Mercy emblazoned upon them, their breastplates and bracers. Tower shields, kite shields - in every form they took, their bearers lined the square, a wall of reminders of their creed, the death of their prophetess and their willingness to enact the same when called upon. It was a symbol that would be seen often around the Inquisition, now: people needed to have faith in it, or they would always be divided.
The templars were stood in an unironic circle, ready to receive and test their supplicant. On the other side of the fence line, crowds filled the yard, covered the stairways, watched from the ramparts: half the population of Skyhold had gathered, if not much more. Amongst them were the faces Aredhel knew and looked for: the Bull and his Chargers, Blackwall, looking about as grim yet unreadable as each other. Vivienne, one of the few who seemed to trust the process, though again, hers was a face that would not be read. Cole. Dorian stepped nimbly in line with her before she could enter the square, cutting mercilessly past anyone he needed to and falling in line with her as she walked: “You know, darling, you can still back out. There are plenty of ways to test you. We can ask that delightful artificer. Or, you know, dunk you under the water and see if you transform - that seems about as developed as their barbarous methods.” “I’ll be fine, Dorian.” Aredhel squeezed her friend’s hand, smiling past her nausea, and managed to kiss him on the cheek without falling over. With great trepidation, dragging in a laboured breath and putting on a brave face, she stepped forwards.
She had never been in this situation before. She had been amongst templars, but never like this: immediately, as she passed the heavily armoured, identical-seeming sentries, each armed with a weapon intended, if need be, for her, she gained a first, terrible insight into how a Circle Mage must feel. She could see why knights became the faceless, fearful things they were for some, even if doing their job correctly, if you had grown up with this sword above your head. Only under it for a moment, it was already making sense to her. Another reason to do this. She also looked at their faces. Each man and woman was one that deserved a second chance. She met some of their eyes as she walked past them, smiling to a few, looking levelly to others, matching each one as seemed right. As she walked to the centre of the square, she caught Solas’ eye. The look in it was complex - knowing, acknowledging, even admiring, yet ultimately disapproving, possibly even vexed. Often their relationship, for a reason she couldn’t yet understand. She thumbed at her Keeper’s ring, the patterns of wolves and old, cautionary stories a familiar feel under it. It represented duty to her clan; different stories to here, different gods, a different role, but that duty was the same. Passing Leliana and Josephine, the air carried snippets of conversation to her, their voices above the murmurs: “It is completely unnecessary,” her diplomat lamented. The spymaster countered immediately: “It is smart. It will cut any rumour down in its infancy, when it is easiest to kill.” She swallowed. It was not until she reached the centre that she saw Cullen. He was beside Cassandra, both at the front of the crowd: she appeared to be saying something to him with concern, but his eyes were fixed on Aredhel. She flashed a nervous, foolish smile to him, unable to stop herself despite their mutual fear. As she did, Cassandra spotted her too, and sent her a nod. Breathing shakily, Aredhel nodded back, feeling a little strengthened. Cullen’s hand gripped his sword hilt; the other gripped the fence.
Soon, she was before the Knight-Lieutenant. It was happening. In a strange moment of distance from herself, she noticed that she had begun to speak. Attention moving over the crowd, her voice boomed and bounced around the castle walls, her lungs pushing out her words with the false, learnt confidence of a leader - project, be heard, and catch up with oneself once things began to feel real again: “When the Inquisition came to the aid of the Templar order, we encountered a demon. One that had impersonated and replaced the Lord Seeker. One that tried - and failed - to replace me. Every one of you has placed your faith in this Inquisition, and it is prepared to meet that trust. We did not bring you here, and offer a fresh start, only to allow evil to persist.” She tried to say something further, but her voice cracked and broke, her confidence wavering. She trailed to silence. “Sorry,” she muttered, turning back to the Knight-Lieutenant. “Carry on. Your turn.” She knew those footsteps without having to turn. Cullen had broken from his position on the side-lines, striding around the edge of the training square and approaching the templars. It was not the gait of a man about to interrupt a proceeding, but a man suddenly seizing control of it. “Templars.” Some things do not change. He strode into position, voice carrying with conviction and habit: every templar there, whether they had ever served with the old Knight-Captain or not, understood. They looked to him: “If this is a demon or abomination, draw it out. These witnesses must see the truth of the thing before it is cut down - there can be no doubt. We cannot afford further schisms.” Aredhel understood, immediately, what he was doing. She turned to him, gratitude almost making her lose her balance. He continued: “I will see no blood until the demon is made plain." His voice had carried as far as the Inquisitor’s, making sure it was heard by the crowd, but as he continued, he lowered it, just for the gathered templars: “If this is no demon, then she is the Herald of Andraste. And your leader. Remember that.” As one, they saluted. “Aye, Knight-Captain.”; “Yes, Commander.” The Commander grimaced against the other title, but nodded. Aredhel shot him a dizzy, brow-knotted look of thanks. Light bounced piercingly from his bracers as he stepped back, traveling along the emblem’s engraved blade. Time, then. “Templars! With me.” The Knight-Lieutenant began her issue of commands; the crowd were advised that anyone who was not a Templar should take a good four paces back, warned that if the demon was using any protective counter-measures, there would be fallout. The sound all seemed muted to Aredhel as she looked down at the soil beneath her, focusing attention on her breath going in and out. She nudged a foot at the churned ground, kept so by the frequent sparring in this spot, and reached out for the sense of magic that tingled upwards from the earth. Distantly, she could hear what sounded like Cullen refusing to step back with the rest. Under her breath, she murmured a prayer, quoting from Transfiguration 12:
“My Creator, judge me whole: find me well within Your grace. Touch me with fire that I be cleansed. Tell me I have sung to Your approval.” Some of the nearest templars to her looked her way, noticing, but soon, the command came. All around her, the templars lit up: far from the yellow warmth of the chantry candles, this light was cold, a pale blue-white of lyrium-sponsored power, filling metal-clad hands on every side of her. Her heart quickened, panic suddenly finding her. She had to clamp desperately down on the immediate, childish urge to run to Cullen’s side and hide against his front. Or Dorian. Dorian, I’ve made a mistake - The light burst forth, rushing through the space like a silent explosion, blowing back the soil away from the blast, dust covering her boots. She braced…And felt nothing. Blinking, shocked, the Inquisitor looked around. Hope sprung forth. She had known she was safe, that she was no demon, but she had still expected that to be far worse - Something that would hurt, or they could misinterpret, something she could fail -
Another order came. It was as if a rift had been torn in the Veil directly over her head, except it was no green light, but blinding white.
For a moment, that white was all Aredhel knew. It was so bright that it blocked out all else - that it felt as though it was behind her eyes, engulfing from within, not without. It seared with heat and ice, impossible to tell which, her body pulled taught, rigid beyond her control. For one suspended moment, the pain felt infinite, and then she fell.
In front of the crowd, the Inquisitor's body crumpled, collapsing to the ground of the training square.  The last clear thing she heard was Cassandra's voice, distinct above the rest; "The Inquisitor!" Panic tore through the crowd, the bark of several familiar voices attempting to quell it.
Darkness took her.

Fruits Basket Manga Review ch (76 & 77)
So, I decided to read the manga mainly in search for a more natural balanced female presentation than the idealistic, shallower, savior depiction of tohru in the anime.
I’m intentionally skipping all the chapters of her as a (mother figure) in yuki’s life & won’t read them or even visit them for comparison with the anime. I love yuki’s growth story & the unique depiction of his platonic relationship with tohru, but if his mother-tohru phase was a drink, then the anime has force fed it to me till it came from my nose! So, for yuki, I’ll be reading his growth past-his mother confession.
I’ve consulted my lovely manga readers friends & thy recommended starting from ch 90 since the content in that chapter was completely cut! but some recommended checking kyoto chapters first since they contain a nice glimpse of the author’s style & artistic vision. Kyoto ep in the anime isn’t focused on “mom-tohru” so, i like the idea! I’ll jump to ch 90 right after ch 77.
- Subtle growth of a woman ( Clash of visions & presentation between the manga’s “ Loosing the wallet with mom’s photo vs the anime’s fractured photo frame):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really love the underlined connotation of tohru loosing her “mom” unknowingly! In the anime, this scene played without any reference to kyoko & tohru’s attachment to her. We saw tohru the teenage girl confused as she experience romantic love for the first time. Nothing more than that. But the manga says “ Main female MC is way deeper than a (mom-figure) or a (girl in love), In this panel, tohru chases after kyo & unknowingly looses her famous wallet containing her mom’s picture. Here’s what this subtly indicates:
Normally, tohru would notice right away that her wallet is missing, here she never even notice until kyo suggest they hang out together. Subtly indicating that tohru is moving further & further from her phase of “ an afraid, grieving, abandoned child clinging to her mom”.
Normally, tohru would panic, say “ mom is missing” & everyone around her goes into search mode to make tohru at ease (hiro’s ep). Here once she notices, she says “ my wallet is missing” & kyo relaxed & laughingly gives her her wallet back. While he goes to bring the wallet, tohru instead of thinking “ oh nearly lost mom!” is musing over the fact that “it’s strange that kyo can make me happy or sad with one word only”. Subtly indicating that tohru is replacing her mom with kyo as part of growing up from the child she was to the woman she will be.
Tohru calling kyo “mysterious”, subtly explains that tohru is in the uncertain phase of understanding her feelings as a woman & hence, pave the path for upcoming trauma exploration & psychological depth.
The entire scene in the manga is depicted to convey different layers: romance, upcoming growth, & unexplored traumatic issues of abandonment, grief, & human weakness. “ Accepting human Weakness & change” IS the manga’s vision.
In the anime, the fractured picture worked simply becuz no issues of any traumatic experiences with tohru were ever hinted. Nothing abt tohru being a young woman moving away from a traumatic childhood was ever implied beside the weakly sharply cut & forgotten few scenes of her mysteriously going “ im okay” while remembering her dad’s shrine. Was there ever anything abt replacing her mom with kyo? Nope!. Was there anything abt tohru reluctance of loving kyo? Nope! to fix that, let’s shock the audience with empty photo frame! It’ll make the viewers confused & if we play the climax right & give tohru a tearjerker speech confronting akito, all is good. It worked in the anime as it served the purpose it was created for: shock value & drama. ppl bought it. But in the long run, it cemented tohru as the “savior angel” never the “ weak human”. But not many will have issues with that. Having yuki with his impressive story of growth & kyo with his shocking story of pain is enough to distract from the rest. The director must think: What does the audience want?
a woman who’d save the prince with her motherly care?“ Done!”.
a woman who’d love the monster? “ Done !”.
a woman who has her own deep story? no one will miss that~ skip!
-Yuki’s next stage of growth: Friends:
I like how smoother the scene played here. Yes, yuki thinks back to his gratitude to tohru, but it plays subtly & more emphasis is on his friendship with kakeru. No added scene of him waving back to tohru after kakeru which brought the focus back to mom-tohru again. No. Here is way less shoved in your throat. Yuki says how he felt in the moment, moved on to the next stage, thought abt his life & choives, moved on to school. Clear lines that makes yuki more dynamic & way less “ living in his head” character.
Side Notes:
The manga’s art is pretty but expressive! I was afraid it’ll have that weird eyes bigger than the moon & too much sparkles & bubbles like the usual old shojo manga art!
Yuki is way more expressive than the anime & less pretty & sparkly! I welcome this with flowers & songs! lol.
Tohru has “low” pigtails instead of the child-like high pigtails! YES! it is crazy that this trivial change adds so much to tohru’s presentation to the viewers’ eyes. In real life no big deal but in an artistic medium such choices send subliminal messages to viewers minds, that’s why artists spend a lot of time choosing their characters default appearance. It means a lot for the character’s overall path & sends messages. High child-like pigtails: make her look like innocent & naive child since viewers usually associate such hair do with children & toddlers. Low pigtails: are cute girly style that we associate with teenagers & young adult women, it’s practical & cute.
Kyo’s looks as youthful & handsome as the anime but less angry, annoyed & more versatile in his expression! It always bothered me that the anime just go with kyo’s default frowned face, hands in pocket looks unless he should express a key emotion. Also, kyo without an undershirt in his uniform! interesting change from the anime.
I missed kyo’s two buddies! T_T. Why they weren’t in the anime’s finale.. could’ve at least put them in the underwhelming graduation ceremony ~
I really appreciate that yuki’s fanclub are one page, less annoying.
That awkward moment when a manga panel drawn by one person can depict a crowded city more than an anime with a huge team. Like the anime didn’t even need to zoom out for a huge wide shot that showcase its weakness in depicting a crowded city. If you can’t draw that, just zoom in to lessen the effect of emptiness. kyoto isn't a deserted area especially not during a school trip!
The teachers checking on the sneaking vs sleeping students scene is a welcoming sight! XDDD
Hana met kakeru before? saw him & tohru together? weird!!
Kakeru is more focused on tohru here.
I really love the photos taken for everybody. It indicates real good time! Hana eating, yuki around girls, arisa annoyed, kyo teased with playing card: did the play “rich man poor man” again? XD
I’m starting to love yuki more in the manga than the anime!
Kyo having short inner thought abt not being able to tell tohru a girl confessed to him & deciding to say “ none of ur business” is doing wonders to the scene!!! it makes him less mean to tohru & more balanced character. I mean I guessed so in the anime, but what could've prevented making the VA say this short line of inner thought?! Yuki’s VA says essays & essays in nearly every ep abt nearly every character?!.
I liked the way kyo held tohru’s hands when he turned to her, the way he held her hand in the anime is a bit weird. lol. Also, in this scene, tender gentle kyo is so well-done both in the anime & manga. The manga wins for the zoom in & focus on emotions, tho.
Next is chapter 90!

Sotsu Episode 11′s Umineko References
Tumblr media
From the Higurashi side, I had basically nothing to say about this episode. It all went as expected. Again...
But from the Umineko side?  I had one major thing I noticed that I haven’t seen anyone else comment on yet… and it’s still making me giggle.
And then I found a bunch of other Umineko things too!
[Umineko Chiru spoilers, particularly Bern, Lambda, and Erika stuff]
.
This post mainly brought to you by:
BERNKASTEL YOU SHAMELESS C O P Y C A T
Exhibit A:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exhibit B:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who did it better, y’all?
Because with this episode, that’s now two of Bern’s major Umineko tricks - her brute-force solving the epitaph via Fragment hopping and now her "murder someone yourself just to be certain they’re dead" proof - that she lifted straight from Satoko.
(And I do mean Bern, not Erika - Bern is the one manipulating Fragments for the epitaph solution, and it’s Bern who initially forces Erika not to make the detective proclamation in Umineko Episode 6.)
...In other words, I really get the sense that Umineko's second half was Bern making adorable kitten eyes at her girlfriend for a chance to try out Satoko’s ~sick witch stunts!~ XDDD
Meanwhile Lambda, the one who actually came up with those moves, is running absolute rings around Bern and Erika in Umineko Episode 5, of course. But she sets Bern up so her girlfriend can Do The Cool Thing she wants anyway because indulging Bern while simultaneously planning to pull the rug out from under her is probably twice as fun, lol.
But then in Umineko Episode 6, Bern actually manages to catch Lambda off guard by using one of her own tricks against her. And then cranks it to 11 as what she has Erika do is a lot more brutal, and a lot more game-logic BS than even SotsuGou’s Satoko...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pffff geez at least Satoko has to actually kill herself and exit the Fragment rather than just declaring “game end~!” Ah, Erika...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lambda’s Game Master Style, Continued
Also... we've always known that Umineko Episode 5 is Lambda hijacking the board to run things her way, but this Sotsu episode makes it even more obvious what she's doing behind the scenes there. Lambda took Beatrice’s complicated motives and boiled it all down to single-minded revenge against Natsuhi - just as how Satoko is single-mindedly vengeful against Rika here. Heck, we even see Satoko create an elaborate crime scene all in order to pin the blame on the target of her revenge to misdirect a detective!
(And oh my god Bern, you've played against Lambda before, how do you still keep walking face first into the same traps EVERY TIME?!)
So yeah, I've said before that SotsuGou feels like Lambda's Game Master style, but this is even more blatant than I expected!
And gosh I still cannot get over the fact that even as evil witches, Rika and Satoko are still up to their old tricks, and even stealing each others’ ridiculous cheating strategies. Love it. More of this fun nonsense, less repetitions of Rika’s dance, please.
Tumblr media
Unreliable Witch Narrators
Of course, the other main Umineko thing this episode was that Satoko's narration of the crime scene to Ooishi is what we were shown in Tataridamashi. Implying that rather than a Higurashi style hallucination, Tataridamashi was a witch's fabricated narration - a very Umineko conceit.
And I... have very mixed feelings about this. As it is, this feels too out of left field. Umineko spends basically an entire Episode explaining how this type of unreliable POV works. Meanwhile, Higurashi already had its own, very established rules for hallucinations. Abruptly switching one set of rules for the other with little warning, little foreshadowing, and most egregiously, for only one scene wasn’t a great choice.
If SotsuGou was going to use the Umineko rules, then I wish they'd really gone all-out with it instead. It sure could have livened up the -damashi arcs if Satoko made up the climaxes out of whole cloth with only the bodies matching when the dust settled! I mean, if entire fights can be a lie, then why not go all-out with absurd battles and impossible events?
And it would have made today’s episode feel less out of place too, if the anime had more explicitly run with the idea that all -damashi arc conclusions were Satoko’s witchy narration rather than the truth.
Another missed opportunity for the giant pile of them in SotsuGou...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even More Visual Similarities
In conclusion: I don’t actually have a conclusion, but hey, Eua sure drinks tea just like Featherine now.
So when is Satoko going to pull out Lambda’s popcorn and konpeitou? I mean, she’s got Lambda’s catchphrase and even even her smirk now...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What else Lambdadelta is left for Satoko to do? Aside from saying her name, of course...

@istarnie-nerdanel I found my book. It is the italian Bompiani 2013 edition of The Fall of Arthur" with Christopher Tolkien's essays translated by Sebastiano Fusco.
I think one can see Tolkien going from "Guinevere devil, evil woman" to a more measured approach. XD Thankfully. Still: you are right she is more grey than any other woman he ever tried to write, in fact he keeps being nasty to her in his own way.
Sorry this is mainly in Italian under the cut.
First a line from the original poem (III verse 65)
Tumblr media
With its note, where Tolkien went from "she betrayed" to a, much more reasonable, "they betrayed" (she didn't force him, last I checked).
Tumblr media
Even though Tolkien is very keen on implying she was Bad News™ for Lancelot, and his virtue, even in the final version.
Tumblr media
Naturally she has to pay for it. But, this is an original version, maybe he deems her too "base" to become a nun?
Tumblr media
back to the successive versions:
Tumblr media
There it is very visible, in my opinion, how Tolkien went from "Arthur was unhappy because an unfaithful wife had come back", to "even though the most beautiful of all women was back his house seemed to him less happy". From a condemnation of Guinevere to focusing on the fact Guinevere is the most beautiful woman. So: yes, he was right in saying he didn't write female characters well at all. Too focused on the "female" part XD.
A last note, the Italian afterword by Gianfranco de Turris has some delightful CRINGE moments that remind me so starkly of the way our right wing has latched onto Tolkien.
Tumblr media
Historical women that ruin whole kingdoms: Ahhhhh YES. Way to go!
Meanwhile, Athur, who is just going to conquer the east to "let civilisation prevail over barbarism" is presented like:
Tumblr media
He is the Kathekon though! The slowing power that wants to save civilization from corruption! That fights even as he knows the fight is lost. Personally I find less disquieting a self-serving woman... XDDD Besides this interpretation is so interesting to read, given Tolkien's opinion of the Feanorians (Celebrimbor included) and their struggle against fate.

I know the age confessions are trolling but it’s still funny to think of the possibility that some spoilt rich kid whose mommy and daddy buy all their dolls for them genuinely thinks they are the target audience of often $x00, even $x000 dolls over working adults. These dolls are literally aimed at adults. Kids can like them, but they’re not the target and they’re definitely the minority.
I think the confessions here are trolls but there has been similar sentiment in fandom for the past 5 years especially, with weird teenagers acting like anyone over 20 is ‘too old’ for being a fan of anything, despite fandom as we know it being started by middle-aged women, and despite kids typically being the minority. Not to mention how many of us ‘senior citizens‘ (seriously? lmao) literally couldn’t join hobbies like this until we could actually afford it, ie, becoming working adults.
The ageism is one thing (and seems to be in vogue with net kids these days), but we also need to address the classism here. If you’re not an adult but can afford - or have your parents buy you - expensive dolls (or really anything with a triple digit price tag), its an incredible privilege and you’re indirectly shitting on the 99% for having to wait until they have jobs to afford things.
On the slim chance anon isn’t a troll, I feel bad for you if believe you have to give up everything fun once you turn 20. If you genuinely feel this way, surround yourself with better people and not whatever toxic people are insisting adulthood must be miserable. You act judgemental like it won’t happen to you, but it will, and it’s going to hurt you. You’re going to get old too, it will suck, and having a fun distraction will be a bright spot. All the most miserable adults I know are the ones without hobbies.
If you genuinely want to sit in a corner and do your taxes and watch the news and post wine memes on Facebook and nothing else, that’s your own problem. Anyway, I know I shouldn’t respond to a troll, but as an apparently ancient, elderly 30 year old (lol) who grew up very poor and only recently got into this hobby since I could finally afford to, I really think younger (and apparently much richer) people need to consider what they’re actually implying even when they make dumb joke posts like this. Cos all I read is ‘lol imagine being poor XDDD?’

Fave Scenes That Probably Could’ve Been Sent to the Cutting Room Floor But I’m Glad They Weren’t -- DiamondDust Rebellion Edition
Outside of all the Detective Byakuya scenes and The Scene Where Hisagi is Cool for 12 Seconds Before Hitsugaya Writes Him Out of This Movie Entirely, I think this is my favorite scene in DiamondDust Rebellion. It’s just a little transition, but like, frame are frames, and these ones could easily have been used to explain the plot, or something. I think you get more bang for your buck with this scene, though.
Idk, I like the idea that someone can skip town in the dead of night, explicitly against the desires of his host, but still take the time to stop and give thanks to the house. At that point it feels less like habit or cultural norm and more like something that actually matters. (Er, cultural norms matter, but like, this makes it feels like it matters at an individual and personal level.) It actually matters to Hitsugaya, specifically.
** Even though he was also skipping town in the dead of night, explicitly against the desires of his host, after offering absolutely no useful information or explanation about anything whatsoever.
I want to say it’s adorable, but then I feel bad because Hitsugaya wasn’t trying to be adorable and at this point he’s been Straight Up Not Having a Good Time Bro since minute 3 of this 92-minute film, and I want to respect that. But anyway, although I don’t think of DDR as a piece of Bleach that has a lot to offer in terms of character- or worldbuilding, this scene I hold very dear. <3 All 9 seconds of it.
I also think about this scene a lot because in the scene that follows it, Hitsugaya (who is nothing like SS Arc Escape Master Hinamori, since he runs into Ichigo basically immediately) reiterates his thanks to Ichigo with 礼を言う, his first of a few he repeats this phrase over the course of this movie. I spent like, actual weeks fixated on this expression because I didn’t know what he’d said, to the extent that I could not for the life of me Google it effectively. It wasn’t until a different character in a different series said it that my brain was like ohhhhhh derp <i>Googles rei wo iu</i>.
It’s an expression of thanks/gratitude, literally to speak rei, which is some manifestation of gratitude. It’s masculine and implies a level of distance between the speaker and recipient. From the instances we’ve now heard it, it feels pretty old-school/serious/formal, though it’s not just old-timey because we’ve heard it used in the sense that you might say “I wanted to express my gratitude” in series set in the modern day as well. There’s also a video game that uses it in its dialogue, though idk what games are so idk the context here. And then of course I got really down the rabbit hole and ended up reading about orei and linguistic anthropology, which made morse sense to me than the video game, though realistically I surely know more about video games than linguistic anthropology (I spent sever real-world years completing Ocarina of Time! vs. uhhhh I once shared an office with someone who took a class in linguistic anthropology one time.) That article is talking about something specific that funnily enough isn’t Bleach, but it’s invested in the speech acts, or speech that in itself comprises an act--for instance, that of counterbalancing a debt.
All of that aside, just figuring out the basic phrase felt like such an exciting victory!! Because now it’s a phrase we can reliably hear and understand while watching other things, even when embedded in the middle of a longer sentence, etc. and that’s always such a good feeling?? (During our Bleach movie rewatch last month we discovered that Hitsugaya also uses this phrase in Fade to Black in a completely different context/in a seemingly completely different usage, so who says filler movies aren’t educational! You learn new things every day.) So anyway, yeah, I really love this scene. Lots of wild, if somewhat tangential, memories attached to it. 💖
Also would like to point out that if Ichigo really didn’t want Hitsugaya to leave, he should have simply hidden his shoes. XDDD Foolproof. (Imagine the awkwardness of having to unlace some deeply, deeply unconscious person’s sandals as they bleed out on your sheets. Weirder than shooting yourself out of a magical cannon in order to bust into the stronghold of a society of death gods? I mean, possibly??)
Tumblr media
Also love (no, I truly do! “love” is used in a lot of ways on this website but I think it’s very endearing) that Hitsugaya also took the time to fold the blanket, even though he definitely bled all over it. Because like... did he WASH the blanket? PROBABLY NAH. DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF HAVING FOLDED IT. KFAKF:gKGcfgvbhn

“Revenge of the Trix” Thoughts
Diving into this second special and I have to say that I am actually quite excited to see how this will go. It was fun comparing the first special to season 1 even though I kinda expected to be angered. But good news! I wasn’t. Not so much at least and I really hope that pattern will continue.
- I am not quite sure but I think they changed the timeline a little bit. Though, if it means I get the festival of the rose or that battle with the witches in Magix, I am down! I doubt it but I will hold on to my hopes until they get dashed!
- I am still puzzled by Faragonda’s remark about the “powerful forces here at work”. What does that mean? Who is she talking about? She can’t be wary of Daphne so what the hell is happening? Was she concerned at the possibility of Bloom having Dragon Fire? I really hope they will explain some of this. But I like that they added the fact that Daphne was the princess of Domino. It wasn’t in the original of this scene and I am glad they changed that.
- Okay, without the bike rescue and the way the dialogue in that scene is reworked, the Riven and Darcy stuff is way more disturbing than it used to be! She straight up spelled him without any connection being made outside of that and it just looks way too creepy. Not to mention that it does a disservice to Riven’s character as well because if Darcy never rescued him, he has no other reason to be meeting her other than “I don’t care about my friends, just about being great”.
- Spring break? Wow! We really sped through that school year.
- Was that montage from Gardenia in the original? I don’t quite remember that but it is cute as hell! And to end it with Mike and Vanessa hugging while happily watching their daughter? I will go sob now if you’ll excuse me. Beautiful.
- Wait, she’s dreaming of the night Mike saved her from the fire (instead of, you know, the fire in the flower shop)? And by the looks of it, in this she doesn’t know that she’s adopted like she did in 4kids season 1... I am actually in trepidation over this next scene.
- Well, that scene went better than I thought it would. But she really didn’t know about being adopted. I am just glad that she didn’t get mad they hadn’t told her the truth. It would have broken my heart. And they are her parents anyway.
- Omg, Bloom is asking all the right questions! I cannot believe it! I am absolutely ecstatic that they changed that part because now it is really making sense (I had given up on ever saying that in regards to Winx Club again so I vote my decision to watch the specials “fucking spectacular”). She connected the dots about getting her powers from her birth parents! I have been so salty about her not asking that in season 1 but they fixed it! Imma go happy sob again.
- Faragonda is showing her stuff now? Of her own volition? Nice! I just don’t think the “Daphne lived in a lake” thing makes sense. Didn’t her soul go there after her body was destroyed by the curse of Sirenix? That is different! And considering Faragonda’s past with the Company of Light, that is not all that she knows about Daphne so she’s kinda lying.
- Now that she saw the crown, does that mean that they don’t get to waste time going to Domino even though her powers were inside her all along? I really, really hope so! And the way Daphne presented the crown to her could be taken as symbolism about Daphne passing it down to her now that Bloom is the only living heir to the throne of Domino. That was a cool detail and a great change imo (especially if they aren’t gonna go to Domino).
- Well, Lucy’s PoV was kinda made more... understandable, I guess? Like, the wording was better... right before the very end of that argument between her and Mirta. That was somehow meaner than what happened in s1. But I actually like the change to the scene with Mirta casting her spell to spy on the Trix. I think it makes more sense than the way it was done in s1.
- How does she know there is an archive in Cloud Tower when she has never been there? I think this scene suffers from the changes. And it is also really convenient that she decided to break into CT just in time for the Trix to trick her. I think those scenes were backwards in s1 and it was after the Trix saw her in CT that they came up with their plan which was better because it didn’t look so staged. Also, “What are friends for?” Yeah, right, Sky. Friends. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. And you weren’t totally on a date.
- That scene with the Specialists was pretty intense considering its length. Since when is Brandon being the cautious one? While Timmy is like “Sure I’ll help you commit major offense against school rules, no probs”? I could take Brandon’s behavior as a best friend’s worry and Timmy’s as a friend’s desire to help out but it still seems a bit out of place. I am just glad that Sky is taking care of the tactics instead of just throwing himself at it.
- And there is no defense system or anything here. I can’t tell if that’s good or bad. It was kinda random when it popped up in s1 (never to be seen again, mind you) but it seems a bit illogical for the school to not have some kind of protection (especially if it has powerful spells inside). Idk.
- I am stunned by Sky’s absolute dumbassery that is bordering on being an asshole (and even tipping right into it). What does it matter if she’s a witch? She is still the same Bloom she was before she learned it, wtf, dude? (Not to mention that this pisses me off greatly because it implies that all witches are pure evil.) I just can’t understand why Bloom didn’t wonder how she has a fairy form then. She can turn into a fairy and that is pretty solid proof that she isn’t a witch. Why didn’t she question it?
- Awww! I love how worried Winx are for Bloom! And I think they’re skipping classes (and risking to get in big trouble with Griselda) to go look for her. True friendship!
- What is she doing sleeping in the bushes? And why doesn’t she just try to fly there? You know, get some proof for herself that she’s a fairy since she has the wings and all?
- Why is Stormy just setting random patches of grass on fire? I agree with Darcy, it can be dangerous if she sets the whole forest on fire.
- “Why would we be so cruel? For giggles.” XDDD
- They changed Mirta’s powers to transforming emotions into energies? That is kinda cool but isn’t that what all magic does?
- The Dragon just swept the Trix away? Is that what happened? It looked like it just fucked off into the sky without doing shit but I digress. But aww at the way Tecna scooped up Bloom so carefully! It was adorable!
- If I were Bloom, I would leave Sky a very angry message and he’d have to give a real good apology for me to take him back. The moment she appeared to be something he didn’t expect, he pulled away from her. That is not someone you want to be in a relationship with. I just wish Bloom would figure out that she can do better. If he shallow like that, you don’t need him, hon. (But hey, don’t blame Kiko! And that wasn’t bad advice! If you want to talk to someone, you should fucking call them! That was good advice.)
- Oh, no! No, no, no, no! Please, not the Day of the Royals! I beg of you! Though, it will have to happen because that is what makes Bloom go back to Gardenia where the Trix corner her. But what will happen with the Diaspro story? Bloom knows that Sky is Sky. Though, he still didn’t tell her he was engaged so I guess there can be drama over that. Ugh, why?
- “That’s a relief”? Fuck you, Sky! So her not being a witch is what makes or breaks this relationship - actually, pardon me, THIS FRIENDSHIP according to his own definition - and not, you know? Her goddamn personality maybe? Damn, what a fucker. Seriously, he is so much worse than in s1. Bloom should really stop wasting time on his sorry ass and go snatch Diaspro for herself instead. Why does he have a picture of Diaspro btw? He does not really care for her... like, at all. Not that he cares for anyone, apparently.
- Oh, so now he loves Bloom? Also, great going, Timmy! Yeah, just suggest breaking off a royal engagement. Without even asking what the political situation is. That is not the best idea. I mean, there was the possibility that Eraklyon needed that marriage. Which, of course, they don’t but still. It ain’t that simple. (God, I hate giving Sky an excuse but this really is a complicated situation. Though, he could have just told Bloom about the arranged marriage instead of lying to her.)
- She could have just waited instead of going for the option of getting them all in trouble. It was only one day. But at least Winx tried to talk her out of it instead of being right there with her in the impulsiveness. And yet, they still decided to support her like friends do. That is cute!
- “Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.” Ya think? And yes, being around Erendor and Samara is definitely not a great experience.
- Ooh, she saw Sky directly with Diaspro! Damn, that changes things. And I hate to admit it but it makes more sense because at least now she has a solid reason to jump to conclusions.
- Oh, no! She thinks it is the Trix again. Honestly, I just wish she would have seen Sky for the lying piece of shit that he is! It would have saved so much trouble. I feel bad for Diaspro, though. She just got attacked without having done anything to deserve it. Shocking, I know. But none of this was her fault.
- Sky really did that with Riven? I thought he would be more mature than Riven but nope. He is really campaigning for asshole of Red Fountain. I know Riven started this but Sky has previous offenses against both Bloom and Diaspro so he takes the cake.
- Codatorta was very quick into action. It was kinda impressive. I see that the conflict between Griffin and Faragonda is non-existent here. “I see it’s not just my students who can behave badly”? This coming from Griffin? That has the exact opposite tone of her line in the original. It’s kinda like “Well, we’re in this together because obviously neither my, nor your students know what the hell they are doing.” Though, it can still be taken as a subtle dig as in “You thought you had the high ground when you sent me back the Trix but look at what your fairy has done!”. That actually sounds more like it, though her tone of voice was still a bit too soft for a confrontation.
- Hey, no nightmare monster? But does that mean that the Trix don’t get expelled from CT?
- Aww, I wish she wouldn’t just leave her friends behind! And that montage of memories. (But what the heck is Tecna doing at that fountain? Get down from there, Tecna! I thought you were the reasonable one!)
- How do the Trix know Bloom is from Gardenia? It sounds like they are the bestest of friends with her instead of mortal enemies.
- Awwwwww! Mike and Vanessa keep being so supportive! I love it!
- I actually think I like how they reworked this scene! Icy dropped them in the portal thingy (whatever the hell it was) to force Bloom to transform and lower her guard at the same time and I think it made some more sense than the original did.
- “Our ancestral witches”? That sounded kinda weird. I was just about to say in my conclusion for this special that they dropped the Daphne storyline halfway through this but I see they haven’t. I am pleasantly surprised! And Bloom actually learns that she is her sister (which for some reason was missing from the 4kids dub) as well as all the stuff about Domino. Well, all in very vague terms but still.
- I actually prefer the original way they plucked the fire out of her. It was more jarring while here the animation was just a tad bit too smooth for what it needed to accomplish.
- Oh, and here her fairy form just vanished after they took the flame? I love that! It was the one thing that instantly told me that she still had her powers in s1 because she still had her winx for a while after they took it from her. But here it disappeared the moment the Trix took off with her power. I am curious to see if it is actually gone. Though, I can understand how believing she doesn’t have it anymore can get in the way of her transforming because magic comes from emotions.
This was actually better than I thought it would be and I went in with some expectations because of the first special! I am so pleasantly surprised! The plot carried well throughout this one as well and I supported about 95% of the changes they made from the original storyline which is a lot more than I expected! There was a thing or two that didn’t make much sense, but overall, this was pretty logical! My nitpick would be with the title of this special because the Trix weren’t all that central to it and there was no revenge whatsoever here. I would call it more of a hunt, really. So that would’ve been better if it had been something else having to do with Bloom since she remained at the front and center the whole time... And that didn’t annoy me at all. Wow! I kinda wish they will rework all the seasons into specials now if they can make me like Bloom (though, I admittedly had my moments of that in s1 as well. It is just that the later on we go, the more I can’t stand her). Now I am hyped about the next one and I really hope I won’t be disappointed because it will be such a shame after the good work in this one. (Oh, and the rest of Winx didn’t have much role in this one but I was actually so absorbed in the Bloom storyline that I didn’t notice until this very moment. Man, these specials are really working a miracle here!)

Rewatch: Mahou Tsukai Precure Ep 2
Tumblr media
For the record, I am always going to be that little girl excited to go magic school for the first time.
You won’t take that away from me, EVAH!
Hello, hello again and welcome to episode 2 of our rewatch marathon!
Unfortunately (or fortunately, hahaha), I couldn’t make it shorter since I have to talk about everything but I did finish it by Sunday so yay~!
Oh, and I’m going to switch to using the terms “witch/wizard” in place of “mage” from now on. The rough translation of “魔法使い” (mahoutsukai) is literally “magic user” but it can also be exchanged with words like “mage”, “sorcerer”, “magician” so technically, it’s not wrong. “Witch” and “wizard” can also have more specific translations ( (魔女, majo & 魔道士, madoushi, respectively) but I still feel they’re more appropriate for MahoPre’s setting. It just depends how you interpret the context, I guess.
Tumblr media
Starting with the Snailiner.
I mean, it’s a giant snail train transporting you between worlds.
That’s so friggin’ awesome!! *squees* xDD
Tumblr media
And here are our Muggle newbies, taking in the inter-realm sights for all its worth.
But that’s not as important as OMGERD, Mofurun’s lil’ tail twitching in wonder and curiosity! KYAAAAA~!!!
Tumblr media
Mofurun smooshing her nose to the glass to get a closer look~!!
SO BABEY, IT HURTS!!!!
(੭ु ›ω‹ )੭ु⁾⁾♡
Tumblr media
Riko, however, is eager to get down to business and tries to get an answer on how Mofu-chan came to life...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But these two are just too happy that they can talk to each other now that they don’t really care about the whys or the whats of the hows and UGH!
My heart! *clutches chest*
♡(。>ˇ艸<)
God, we know Mirai has probably been talking to Mofurun since she could first utter words (and likely baby gabbled to her before that, too) but imagine how long that wait must have been for Mofurun! Never knowing if there will ever be chance for her to tell Mirai know how much she loves her and everything!
I’m so happy Mofu-baby got her wish in the end! <3
Tumblr media
Oh, Riko...
You’re in for a lot of these non-answers, I’m afraid. (^ ^ ;;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is Mirai’s turn to ask the questions and of course, she wants to know what Precure is.
We already know how this goes as a yearly tradition but it’s interesting how centuries/extensively long periods of time can embellish a legend so much that it differs significantly from how it was originally told or what it actually means.
The way Riko explains it, it’s as if Precure has appeared in the world before when in reality, Mirai and Riko are in fact the very first Precure (in this universe).
The conditions match up because (WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD):
1) The “magic” (Precure) Mother Rapapa mentioned before her passing will occur when the two worlds come together again. Cue a person from the Mundane World (Mirai) meeting and teaming up with a person from the Magic World (Riko) to fulfill that prophecy. Also note that before these two, no pair like them has ever showed up since Mother Rapapa’s death even though the Magic World has already found ways to travel to the Mundane World and back long ago.
2) Mother Rapapa’s powers are implied to take on the form of Linkle Stones. That said, they disappeared when she did...until they reappeared with the arrival of Precure. We can take that to mean that Precure are the inheritors of Rapapa’s will, to reunite the separate worlds.
3) The birth of Ha-chan, Mother Rapapa’s reincarnation, happened after Mirai and Riko became Precure together.
So really, if I’m getting this right, we might have three versions of this legend: the one that is the most commonly known but not exactly correct [Riko’s version]; the one which is told by the oldest fairies/magical beings who lived in the time when Mother Rapapa was still alive and the world was still one [the original]; finally, the one that’s happening before our eyes where the connection and bond forged between Mirai and Riko can bring about miracles, such as the return of Mother Rapapa through Ha-chan [the true version].
The fact that Deusmast’s revival coincides with these events are anything but coincidental. Mother Rapapa knew she was going to have to face it again so it’s not a stretch to say she might have planned for her own rebirth in the present day to prepare for that.
Two girls who can bring the two worlds together will become Precure, wielders of Mother Rapapa’s powers. Said two girls will also raise and look after her future self, Kotoha, before she’s ready to face her true purpose. When the two worlds are in sync again and Kotoha accepts her role as a divine existence, then, combined with the gathered Linkle Stones and the extra support of Precure and every living being on planet earth, the reborn Mother Rapapa can finally be summoned in her full might to confront and defeat Chaos once and for all.
......or at least, that’s how I’m interpreting it as of this moment. I may have gotten few details wrong but see, this is why I need to do a rewatch. To find out how on or far off the mark I am.
I’m really liking this theory, though, cuz it just makes too much sense! compared to the crazy ones I normally make anyways, lol xD;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Erhem, alright a break from the wall of text.
Mirai is like “Wow, that’s pretty cool!” because it’s not every day you’ve acquired abilities only found in stories and tales while Riko is like...
Tumblr media
“Wait...wut?” *PROCESSING*
And then...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Proceeds to probably have one of the biggest revelations of her life and goes all creepy smiley about it.
lol, oh, Riko. You’re scaring me, darling. (^ ^ ;;)
Tumblr media
But jokes and laughs aside, you can see the differences between their personalities in these few seconds.
Riko wants to be recognized and respected so badly as a proper witch that she’ll even settle for using a shortcut through the Emerald or simply bearing the title of Precure to get there. Despite the fact that neither of those are synonymous with the credit and skill earned from hard work. In other words, she’d only be a witch in name and nothing more. It’s not truly her magic.
However, from Riko’s standpoint, you have to understand why she’s desperate. She’s got poor marks in the most essential subject for magic users and thinks something’s wrong with her because of that. She can’t handle her embarrassment from that ineptitude and if she’s tried everything already and nothing works, then she’s going to have to resort to more outrageous methods to get out of the dilemma she’s in.
This logic is filled with flaws and it’s terribly worrisome but Riko, if anything, is determined to make something of herself. She may have fallen down more times than she can count but she always made herself stand up.
It’s hard not to cheer for her and want her to succeed.
Tumblr media
Mirai, in comparison, seems more naive and simple-minded.
Riko’s excitement is not something she can comprehend right now because for one thing, she’s never had to shoulder the angst that comes with not being able to fulfill expectations that is, until the epilogue.
But rather than see this as a bland aspect of her character, we should appreciate that Mirai is a very stable, positive and warm person.
When Riko couldn’t deal with the frustration over her own perceived failures, Mirai never judged her for what she could or couldn’t do. She still wholeheartedly accepted Riko, unfailingly believed that Riko can achieve great things and still saw Riko as the most amazing witch she’s ever come across. Yes, even though there were more accomplished magic users she’s met since coming over to the Magic World, the one Mirai continued to admire and wanted to get close to the most was Riko.
It’s true that for a majority of the season, Mirai played more of supporting role to Riko at times and didn’t have any personal wish other than wanting to stay together with her beloved friends. Nevertheless, she’s always immensely cherished by the people around her for who she is. Especially Riko, who really needed someone like Mirai in her life. That Mirai places those she loves above any great ambition and later goes on to chase a dream of rejoining the two worlds so everyone can be happy together, it really proves how purely wonderful she is as a person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s cute. 8D
I’d be lying if I wasn’t reminded of Harry Potter when I saw this because it did.
But this is a magical girl anime where almost everything is cutesy-fied so I’m obliged to scream when I see something I think is cute! xD;
Tumblr media
This time, it’s Riko’s turn to treat Mirai to food!
Awesome! I like to believe they do this all the time. Riko takes care of everything when they visit the Magic World and Mirai provides when they’re in the Mundane World.
A part of their relationship that’s always balanced no matter what.
Ha-chan and Mofurun don’t have to pay, though, cuz they babies and it’s okay for their mommies to spoil them~ <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shivery Mofu-baby~
lol, she even goes to touch it a second time like “Brrr~, this is chilly, but one more cuz it’s gives me the tingles, bRrRrRr~!!”
xDDD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That looks sooooo cool!
I love mandarin oranges and I’ve ate them slightly chilled before. They’re great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But eating one in this manner? I wanna try, I wanna try!
Tumblr media
FEED DA TINY BEAR
( ☉ω⊙)
Tumblr media
(๑ˊ͈ ॢꇴ ˋ͈)〜♡॰ॱ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mirai’s so enjoying every moment of this impromptu trip and Riko’s quite satisfied that she can impress someone for once.
But then there’s that dreaded crunching noise and, well...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The mouth can’t lie while eating, after all, lol.
Tumblr media
Ok, Riko’s faces are the best.
She went from “Are you serious, don’t make me look bad, plz” to “Shoot, these are hard as rocks, oh no, how do I protect my vulnerable image in front of this Muggle?! *sweats*”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end, she dodged it with tsun, hahaha
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So they finally arrive in the Magic World and frankly, it’s a beautiful place. Is every piece of land a floating island?! I want to live there! :D
Also, yes, while StarPre did take extra steps in worldbuilding, there are few things you gotta remember:
1) MahoPre aired before StarPre did, so it should be expected for later seasons to improve on what their predecessors brought to the table. Seeing as MahoPre and StarPre had the same series coordinator, Isao Murayama, I’d say he definitely got better when it came to this topic.
2) MahoPre only had one foreign world in its setting while StarPre had many planets since it dealt with space.
3) MahoPre still did what a lot of other Precure seasons opted not to do: give the main characters free access to explore and learn about other worlds.
Seriously, the “fantasy land seized by darkness/evil and needs to be saved by girls from another dimension” plot is present in almost every installation of this tv franchise that it’s just refreshing to not be restricted by those limits for once.
I could go on but I think I’ve made my point. :P
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riko said the Magic Academy is at the center of the Magic World. So does that mean it’s the highest authority on all matters regarding magic? Because I don’t recall anything about the Magic World having an actual government.
Well, anyways, I suspect that all the students’ wands are registered with the school otherwise that’d be a huge security risk if anyone can just open the gate with a simple spell. (o_o ;;)
Oh, and look, it’s the kitty from Riko’s metro pass! :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Same, Mirai.
SAAAAAAAMMMMMMMEEEEEE
Tumblr media
SUUUUURRRREEE, WE’LL SEE ABOUT THAT
8P
Tumblr media
Here’s MahoPre’s version of McGonagall. Strangely enough, we never got a name for her. Same for the Headmaster. They were always addressed as just their faculty names.
Anyways, she’s as stern and strict as you’d expect of any teacher but even so, I don’t find her disapproval towards Riko’s actions to be too unfair or too harsh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, c’mon, if you were in her position and found out that one of your students broke a bunch of rules overnight only for them to come back with an outsider and this explanation, wouldn’t you react the same way she did?
The lady’s just doing her job.
Plus, her anger is justified because not only did Riko break the rules and exposed their kind but she could’ve really gotten hurt out there all by herself as well. Riko didn’t even bring any money with her for food, for crying out loud.
Tumblr media
I’m sorry, Riko, as much as I’d like to give in to those puppy dog eyes (aaaahhhh, don’t look at me like that, you cutie~!), the professor’s right about this one.
Still, all things considered, she doesn’t outright expel Riko. Not because she doesn’t have that authority, I don’t think (that lies with the Headmaster), but it seems to me she might’ve wanted to find an alternative punishment as expulsion might be too cruel.
She even gave Riko fair warning not to leave the room until she found the Headmaster to discuss what to do next and when she saw Riko running around campus later despite that order, she freaked out in concern.
“Do you want to be expelled, Riko-san?!”
So yea, I’'d like to believe the Deputy Headmistress, at least, didn’t want to send Riko packing for home if it could be helped.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That done and said, it probably hit Mirai just how much trouble Riko’s in right now. Sure, Riko leaving school at night without permission is her own responsibility to bear and the same goes for bringing Mirai back to the Magic World with her when she shouldn’t have.
But still, Mirai being here is a violation of the Magic World at large. If she were aware of that, maybe she wouldn’t have gone with Riko in the first place (noooo!) so that Riko wouldn’t have to face possible expulsion.
Fortunately, Riko’s a sensible girl and knows Mirai isn’t in the wrong. It was she who wanted to prove herself, after all. She was just too blinded by her hopes to think about the consequences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so she revealed to Mirai that she’s actually a remedial student.
Like, Riko’s quite upset about the circumstances as it is but she still has it in her to be decent and honest with Mirai on her reasons for going to the Mundane World. It’s the least she could do for getting Mirai involved in magical affairs and taking her all the way here.
The search for the Emerald, suddenly becoming Precure, all these things were to show everyone that she can use magic effectively.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riko’s pretty much reiterating what I said earlier in the post but I don’t think she really understood the full extent of it. At least, not yet.
She still wants the Emerald, of course, because her wish to be a great witch hasn’t changed.
She just realizes that yea, she broke the rules and no Emerald is going to excuse her out of the scolding she’s in for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Mofurun decides to rolypoly on over to poor, depressed Riko and goes “SO WHAT? LOOK AT ME, I’M ADORABLE!!”
lol, j/k, j/k, she really said “I smell something sweet!” which was followed be this...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riko and Mirai’s Diamond pendants glowing~
...honestly, they should’ve just let Mofurun do the explaining to the Deputy Head cuz it seems that every time Mofurun is within range of a Linkle Stone and announces its presence (“A sweet smell!”), they automatically start shining and voila~, the legend is real!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah, but really, Mofurun seems to be telling the girls to not sweat the small stuff.
Why? Cuz...
DESTINY!!!
......lol, yea, Mofurun knows Mirai and Riko are in for something greater than this little snag in the road and just wants to let them know to cheer them up.
And hey, she’s right. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It got Mirai motivated, at least, to go and explain things to the Headmaster herself. Maybe if a Muggle can prove she performed magic as Precure, they’d let Miko off the hook because then they’d realize she was telling the truth.
Tumblr media
Again, Riko is surprised by the lengths Mirai’s willing to go for her. They can’t really be called strangers anymore after all that’s happened but they haven’t known each other long enough (it hasn’t even been 24 hrs yet!) that they can call each other friends yet either.
So why Mirai’s doing this, when there aren’t a lot benefits for her, simply baffles Riko.
*whispers* That’s what a best friend is, Riko-chan~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Mirai, of course, doesn’t know her way around the school, much less who the Headmaster is or what he looks like, but that’s okay because she’s sooooo cute! x3
And maybe it’s a good thing this happened during spring break? Otherwise, she’d be catching the attention of the other students and faculty and she’d have a hard time getting to where she needed to go.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like this when a breeze just drifted through the air and she suddenly got a feeling that she’s gotta go THAT way.
Humuhumu...yea, I don’t think it’s just the Precure powers that’s at work here. Mirai does have innate magical abilities of her own.
I’ve got a theory on that based on some MahoPre trivia I read, about the scratched concept of her having magical ancestors, but I’ll save that for another time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right, where were we? Oh, yes, the wind led her to a tree.
It looks like any ordinary tree but by judging by the way Mirai gazes up at it, something tells her it’s really more than that.
See? That’s her intuition. The magical side of it, anyways.
Tumblr media
And whaddaya know, the wind led her to the person she wanted to find, too!
‘Course she doesn’t think he’s the Headmaster at first glance and who can blame her when he’s wearing a face that young.
Tumblr media
But she’s not even thinking about the Headmaster at that point because did he just say wands? He said wands, right?
Yep, she’s got her priorities sorted out, haha~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back in the classroom, Riko’s lost in her thoughts and can’t really forget how Mirai’s been nothing but friendly to her since the moment they met.
So even though Riko finds this devotion weird, she still can’t help but worry about her and decides it’s not good to just let Mirai wander off by herself when she doesn’t even know her way around.
Kyuuu~, I love it when Riko shows her soft side, especially when it’s about Mirai. She’s always like “まったく ...” in an exasperated way but gives in because she knows she can’t win against Mirai’s niceness and that just brings out her own niceness, d’aww~ <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now back to Mirai where she’s getting quite a fascinating lesson about wands. How every time someone is born in the Magic World, a Wand Tree immediately grows one out to give to that baby, how that’s the wand they use for life, etc.
That’s such a cool birth certificate! Can I trade mine in for a wand of my own?!
xD;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’d hold that thought, Gramps.
A Muggle isn’t just drawn to a specific Wand Tree for no reason.
Maybe the reason why it hasn’t generated any new wand for ages is because it was waiting for someone like Mirai, a resident of the other world, to show up.
Tumblr media
But as expected of the Headmaster, he could immediately tell Mirai’s not from their world and asks what she’s doing here.
Tumblr media
Mirai tells him she needs to find the Headmaster and the way she holds Mofurun tighter to her (KYAAAAA~!!!) when the subject turns over to Riko says a lot about how she can’t let Riko’s life get ruined just because she broke a few rules.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not when Riko saved what was most important to her. To the world, it might have been nothing but a small gesture of kindness but that same gesture is what meant the world to Mirai.
That’s why she has to return the favor to Riko. Riko helped her and now it’s her turn and that means...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAUSE.
Please take a moment to squee at rolypoly Mofurun part 2 first.
........
We good? Okay, back to regular programming...
Tumblr media
DEUS EX MACH-I’M KIDDING~
These are Wand Trees so I’m sure they’re sentient and can sense the sincerity in Mirai’s words along with her magic potential.
For that...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She gets her very own wand!
*gasp* And oh my, what a pretty wand it is! It suits my baby very well!
I am very pleased! 8D
Tumblr media
Not only is Mirai sincere, she’s well-mannered as well.
And Mofurun, too. What good children they are. :D
Tumblr media
The magic tree just granted her something meant to conjure magic with.
What do you think she’s going to do with it if not that? Use it as a back scratcher?!
That aside, I forgot about this. So it was the supernatural forces that dictated Mirai should be allowed into the magic realm and not because of the Headmaster’s decision.
I like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Batty shows up and starts destroying everything in search for them and Mirai immediately leaves to go find Riko.
I’m not sure if it’s because she knows she needs to be with Riko in order to transform into Precure or if she’s simply worried about Riko or both or what. But Mirai doesn’t even think twice about the dangers of facing Batty alone when a person she cares about is somewhere in the crossfire.
Tumblr media
And it’s so clear that Mirai cares about the world Riko comes from. Not just because it’s Riko’s school and home but also because she has great respect for magic users in general.
She’s dreamed of meeting them for a long time and though they’re hesitant to welcome her because she’s a normal human (aka not like them), that doesn’t stop her from doing what’s right. When Batty tries to order her around, she defiantly (and G-ratedly) flips him off for all the havoc he’s making.
Yep, she’s not afraid of the bad guys, my brave little girl~ <3
Tumblr media
Riko’s timing and aim are impeccable as always, lol
She’s almost like a human missile! xD;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s right you did, Riko! And you did a splendid job, bravo! *clapclapclap*
Mirai’s just relieved that Riko’s unharmed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, if Riko’s still giving tsundere service, then she’s definitely alright, ahahaha~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
See?
Riko can’t win against Mirai when she smiles at her like that~
Blushy Riko is so...too...adorable for words! x3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then they hold hands and yea, you know what happens afterwards.
Tumblr media
Frankly, the fight in this ep wasn’t any better or different than the first one and only a few short moments are worth mentioning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Miracle trying her best to not let any more damage come to the school and crashing to the ground because of it.
Even though things will go back to normal, with no signs of a battle ever happening there, after they get rid of the Yokubaru and all (but then again, they didn’t know that...did they??)
She’s too nice, jeez...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Magical checking if her partner is okay and Miracle brushing it off like “Whoopsie!”
Tumblr media
And Magical getting irritated again but whup, no time for that, gotta protect Miracle!
Haha~!! xDD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, the biggest moment that needs to be discussed is this one when Magical’s almost doubting whether saving the school’s worth it since she’s in for expulsion anyway because she disobeyed the Deputy Headmistress.
Hmmm, I’m not criticizing her or calling her self-centered or anything. It’s just that it’s obvious Riko has weighed herself down with too many negative thoughts that it’s hard for her to see there’s still something she can do.
She’s Precure now so regardless of whether she gets expelled or not, she’s one of the only people there who can stand up to that monster.
Tumblr media
And like Miracle said, nothing has been decided yet. They can still persuade the Headmaster to let Riko stay at school.
If they don’t at least try, then it’s guaranteed they’ll only get nothing out of it.
And that’s hardly the ending anyone wants, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whatever the outcome may be, Mirai’s determined to do her best for Riko. If it’s too much for Riko to bear alone, Mirai will be there to support her.
Riko calls Mirai a busybody for this but you can tell by her expression that she’s really grateful Mirai talked her out of giving up.
Tumblr media
Even Mofurun’s happy, perched up on high~
<D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then they get their Linkle Sticks and perform Diamond Eternal for the first time and blow the monster away, yay, all’s well that ends well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, almost.
Thankfully, the Headmaster witnessed everything that transpired, sparing them from any need to explain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And not only does Riko get to stay at school (whoohoo~!) but now Mirai will be attending classes with her as well!
I guess there are endings where all’s well that ends better, after all, huh? Hehehe~
And that’s all for this week. Will try to get ep 3 by next Sunday. Bye for now~

☾ for elymaz and venter??
☾ - What was the first idea that inspired the creation of each of your trolls, and do they still embody that idea now?
Tumblr media
[Originally, Elymaz was created because I wanted to give Risata a dark past, make her more interesting… and that’s it XDDD.He was originally just going to be implied or just going to be an NPC kind of character, but the more I designed him the more I fell in love with him.
He was written to be an over the top cartoon villain, like the ones you see in Disney movies or voiced by Tim curry. You know… the ones that break into song.My main inspirations were of course characters voiced by Tim curry (X,X,X), including the It from the old miniseries, And Some of my favorite Disney Villains like Scar from the Lion king and Ratigan from the great mouse detective. We could add Tom Hiddelston’s Loki in there for good measure.
He was supposed to be an even darker character, a real embodiment of cruelty, mean and deadly to others and even his own carnival, with no redeeming qualities. You know, evil just for the sake of being evil.He was supposed to be killed or just leave town without ever returning and leaving Risata alone. But since @ask-these-fantrolls ‘s Driguz was starting to show interest on him and I was falling so hard in love with him, I couldn’t bring myself to push him away at the end of his ark. And so, I gave him a more tridimensional personality, a past with a reason for his way of being and, most importantly, a redemption ark in the process (Villains having redemption arks are my kink), Making him a more grounded character.
Yes he is still cruel and mean, but not to his own brethren and never to children. Yes he is obsessive, but he is learning to let go of things. Yes he is over the top, narcissistic, emophobic and a big jerk… but he is more than just that, he takes care of his carnival and would do anything for those he loves. He even wants to make things right with Risata and put their past behind him. And go fishing, is that so bad?
He is still my over the top villain, and I love him

[Venter has a less interesting story…
Venter along with Risata were created as background characters for Bondz. And it was the time where I was looking for interesting topics to make clowns off. You know, ventriloquist dolls are creepy and very clown like… why not make a ventriloquist clown!?And thus Venter was made. Its even in their name: Venter Lokiss = Ventriloquist. (As a matter of fact, their original last name was “Loquis” but it was too obvious and I changed it to “Lokiss”, which sounds cuter.)
I love ventriloquist dolls and puppets, specially when they are used for horror reasons. And the idea of human puppets has been something that tickles my character designing interest since Sasori from Naturo and Drocell Keinz from Kuroshitsuji. In fact, you can still see Venter is heavily inspired on them.
Originally, Venter was supposed to be a very tall and elegant male with no personality that barely spoke. A troll that hung out in the same spots that our other purple trolls and a friend of Risata. But after the creation of Pygmlo, we decided to fix them together and change their theme to “Master and Puppet”. Venter was given a personality, their size was shrunk to a more pocket size version and their gender was changed to Agender, since I realized it fitted the character better.
For those who might remember, Venter was introduced first, before Pygmlo and their shtick was that they were so lifeless and so doll like that they never blink (they still barely blink) And people didn’t knew if they were real or a doll. They also don’t speak, unless they have Pygmlo with them, touching the small of their back.
I would say that Venter is the one that changed the least. They are still supposed to be lifeless, to be creepy but somewhat cute, to believe that they are an actual puppet and to have this dark child-like cruelty. The thing is… I don’t have many opportunities to show you more about them. QwQUu ]
