I FEEL like it is basic tumblr etiquette not to reblog people’s posts with “now I normally hate the person/thing you’ve posted about but this one I can make an exception!” I swear people forget that OPs can... read tags. Couching with compliments doesn’t make it less shitty!

petty post under the cut, and not even like. the fun kind of petty, just wank-adjacent skdfjksd
i am sooo resistant to 'aziraphale needs to apologize' stuff, not bc i think he's never done anything wrong in his life (he has) or that crowley is more 'at fault' for how things were shaking out in the middle of the most stressful thing either of them have ever lived through (he's not)
but i just... always feel like it's missing a vital piece of aziraphale's character. aziraphale is in a literal 'damned if he does, damned if he doesn't' situation. if he loses his good standing in heaven, if he loses his connection to heaven, if he's kicked out, Falls, or is somehow restricted either in movement, body, or powers -- he loses all leverage he has to protect crowley and himself.
he is playing by the rules because he has to. he is looking for the loopholes and technicalities and trying so hard to get past the angels with their own agendas to speak to god directly in the hopes that he can stop armageddon from happening in a way that will save both of them by having a higher power put a stop to it.
i don't see him as being loyal to heaven. i don't see him choosing them. god, maybe, but it's clear god's not involved in that much of what heaven is doing atm. i see him gritting his teeth, forcing a smile, and doing what he has to do because there is no other option.
when crowley insists they run, run where? for how long? eventually they'll be found. regardless of who finds them, crowley will probably be destroyed -- either bc hell won and doesn't tolerate traitors or bc heaven did and won't tolerate a demon who turned an angel against them.
he can't have that. so he pushes crowley away. it's the necessary thing to do to save crowley.
and maybe, maybe, apologizing for hurting crowley's feelings? ok, i agree w that. he could have communicated, could have said 'this is what i have to do, but if you run, i'll get this sorted, and i will come find you'.
but 'i'm sorry for choosing heaven' ain't it for me

thinking about how Humans Are Space Orcs stories always talk about how indestructible humans are, our endurance, our ability to withstand common poisons, etc. and thats all well and good, its really fun to read, but it gets repetitive after a while because we aren't all like that.
And that got me thinking about why this trope is so common in the first place, and the conclusion I came to is actually kind of obvious if you think about it. Not everyone is allowed to go into space. This is true now, with the number of physical restrictions placed on astronauts (including height limits), but I imagine it's just as strict in some imaginary future where humans are first coming into contact with alien species. Because in that case there will definitely be military personnel alongside any possible diplomatic parties.
And I imagine that all interactions aliens have ever had up until this point have been with trained personnel. Even basic military troops conform to this standard, to some degree. So aliens meet us and they're shocked and horrified to discover that we have no obvious weaknesses, we're all either crazy smart or crazy strong (still always a little crazy, academia and war will do that to you), and not only that but we like, literally all the same height so there's no way to tell any of us apart.
And Humans Are Death Worlders stories spread throughout the galaxy. Years or decades or centuries of interspecies suspicion and hostilities preventing any alien from setting foot/claw/limb/appendage/etc. on Earth until slowly more beings are allowed to come through. And not just diplomats who keep to government buildings, but tourists. Exchange students. Temporary visitors granted permission to go wherever they please, so they go out in search of 'real terran culture' and what do they find?
Humans with innate heart defects that prevent them from drinking caffeine. Humans with chronic pain and chronic fatigue who lack the boundless endurance humans are supposedly famous for. Humans too tall or too short or too fat to be allowed into space. Humans who are so scared of the world they need to take pills just to function. Humans with IBS who can't stand spicy foods, capsaicin really is poison to them. Lactose intolerance and celiac disease, my god all the autoimmune disorders out there, humans who struggle to function because their own bodies fight them. Humans who bruise easily and take too long to heal. Humans who sustained one too many concussions and now struggle to talk and read and write. Humans who've had strokes. Humans who were born unable to talk or hear or speak, and humans who through some accident lost that ability later.
Aliens visit Earth, and do you know what they find? Humanity, in all its wholeness.

I always feel like the worst kind of character redemptions (other than redemptions where a character immediately redeems themselves after one conversation) are ones where the villain is betrayed and so they switch sides, and it's treated like they've become a better person.

The fact that there were like 3(4?) other people around while Dan and Phil were filming and yet somehow it was so convincing that they were just alone out in the woods filming is quite impressive honestly

I will never understand where the fanon idea that Ed has "anger issues" came from (yeah I know it's the racism just play with me in this space for a moment).
Because before I got into the fandom and started reading fanon takes, one of the things I loved so much about OFMD is how careful the show is to show Ed as someone who explicitly does not get angry very easily. It would've been so easy to paint this brown man in a hyper-violent profession as a hyper-violent person, but by virtue of his hangups around violence, Ed is one of the least violent characters in the show. We're shown early on that violence in this world is normalized and not treated the same as in the real world (we're expected to love Roach, a guy who is bummed about not getting to torture hostages), and we're told Ed enjoys a good maim, but all his violence that we actually see is so performative. He doesn't enjoy it the way other pirates do.
And every time Ed gets angry, we're beaten over the head with how hard you have to push him to make him mad. He will give people so many chances before he gets angry. Like the racist boat captain - he says "what's that supposed to mean" when the captain started being racist and gross, and only got mad once it was clear he was doubling down. In s1e10 he tries to de-escalate after Izzy starts being aggro, and that's after Izzy says he should've let the English kill Ed.
And literally every time Ed does behave violently, not only does it never exceed what is expected in pirate terms (and we're usually told this explicitly, like when Ed mentions cutting toes off as a part of pirate culture he doesn't like the episode before he does that), it is always very calculated and performative. When Ed reacts with violence, it's almost never a passionate thing, it's very cool and thought-through. He is very obviously a man who does not typically react with violence when he's angry.
It just baffles me. Every time I see takes or read fics that talk about Ed's "anger issues," or act like Ed's somehow destined to become abusive towards Stede, it's like...did we watch the same show?

Kind of enjoyed his character teaser! :)
I think Lyney will be pretty interesting especially if he’s the main character introducing us to Fontaine (similarly to like collei and tighnari being the first characters for sumeru). The relationship between magic and law to the truth are very counter to each other, because magic presents falsehood as the truth while law is meant to uncover the truth and judge impartially based on it. I think the fact that we’re seeing a family of magicians in our first banner instead of a judge or a lawyer means a lot of fun things are in store for the Fontaine justice system in terms of how it handles falsehoods presented to it and how it judges what it perceives to be truth.

I drew this over the course of three years. I did my research for example: like Hoody’s hoodie having no pockets and the blue t-shirt Tim wore in one of the entries underneath the iconic carhartt (which people always make four shades darker than it really is) but I think this is because Masky is always in the dark so it’s hard to distinguish the true colours unless you watch a good amount of Marble Hornets entries to see him in the daylight.
This just proves that the Creepypasta fandom has gone down the deep end. Pick yourselves up folks! Research the source material for crying out loud. My deepest sympathies to my fellow Marble Hornets enjoyers. For our beloved characters have been butchered!
Justice for Masky and Hoodie! Also stop babying adult men. Toby is a grown man and an unhinged mass murderer with no sympathy for other people’s well being. He won’t be your boyfriend. Y’all are weird.
Kastoway (Ticci Toby’s creator) thinks the waffle thing is stupid. Tim doesn’t like cheesecake. This is something Tim Sutton tried to shut down early on while Marble Hornets was still running because people were making fat jokes about him (cheesecake included) Creepypasta fans need to stop and look into the things they’re saying/using.
I made this to inform misinformed people. Thank you.

ok but i am so TIRED of some of y’all reducing kaveh to just “sad broke babygirl who lives with alhaitham” when he is literally one of the top geniuses in sumeru AND one of the most famous (and brilliant) scholars from kshahrewar
“a genius nigh-unparalleled in the last few decades” “engraved his name into the history of the akademiya”
LET IT SINK IN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also alhaitham literally considers kaveh his equal and thinks of him as “an excellent mirror” so idk where y’all are getting the idea that haitham thinks kaveh is beneath him academically.. 🤨

ONE: ok guys here’s an arc about mob, in his growth as a person, being confronted with an ideology he’s unfamiliar with, and he has to learn from it but also understand why it’s unhealthy and bad to properly grow from it and choose kindness in the end, albeit in a more nuanced way than before, and this will make mob more able to confront later problems in the season that can’t be solved with mere kindness and require a deep understanding of loneliness and solitude, something he hasn’t had much room to speak on until now. To express mob being shown this villain’s ideology we have a sequence where we see how mogami views the world and by extension how he sees mob, by putting mob in the kind of sad fucked up world he thinks exists, but mob will overcome it with the knowledge that in the real world he has people he cares about and that even the people who make the world bad sometimes can change and nobody is a static evil and kindness and courage when you’re going through hardship goes a long way. despite the darkness this is ultimately a very uplifting experience for him and a show that life is always more than its darkest moments, and also how picking yourself up instead of wallowing in your own suffering and trauma is hard but a very courageous act and what makes mob stronger than mogami
mp100 fans with tunnel vision: Oh so mob was tortured for six months and is sad? He’s literally so sad and traumatized and nobody is talking about this?

i think a lot of the takes people have about astarion "secretly not actually being okay with being in a poly relationship with halsin" forget that he will literally turn down being in a poly relationship with literally any other character. he doesn't just "feel like he needs to go along with it". his responses to both asking about karlach and shadowheart both allude to the fact he is open to being in poly relationships, it's depending on the context:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think the bit about "if shadowheart had more experience in these affairs" is the most telling, because that is what he highlights with why he's okay with halsin:
Tumblr media
astarion is fully willing and able to turn tav down and set boundaries if he's truly uncomfortable with an arrangement.
the devnotes also do directly state that he's genuine when he tells you to go on with halsin so there's that.
Tumblr media
(and before anyone brings it up: him asking if it's because you haven't had sex in a while is an instance of healthy communication. he's openly addressing a concern he has, and that's a good thing!)

Ghostface isn't a "he"/"him"/"his." Ghostface isn't a "he"/"him"/"his." Ghostface isn't a "he"/"him"/"his." Ghostface isn't a "he"/"him"/"his."
Ghostface is a bunch of people, including women. Ghostface is a persona, not a character.
Ghostface isn't a "he"/"him"/"his." Ghostface is not a fucking "he"/"him"/"his."

If you're new to fanfiction, or perhaps simply have difficulty understanding the appropriate etiquette for commenting, here's a tip!
The comments of a fanfiction are not the place to gripe about things you don't like about the fandom. Or even the story you're reading. The author is a chef making free chocolate cake for whoever wants it and you are standing in the kitchen loudly announcing how much you hate when chefs make chocolate cake with their recipe instead of yours.
