Premium Tasting Menu (Garlic Souffle[?], Beet Salad, Tagliolini, Venison Loin, Fried Apple Pie). The Crossing. Clayton, Missouri. 11.15.2023.
NOTE TO SELF: I want every restaurant to have a tasting menu. The unexpected star of this French/Italian show was the house-made tagliolini with chanterelles. I don't give pasta enough credit, but when it's done well, it's stupid good. This one was loaded with parmigiano regiiano and butter and deliciousness. If I've had better beet & goat cheese salads, they didn't outshine this one by much. The red win venison jus brought a unique flavor to the table, but if I had it to do over again, I'd try the branzino. At first I thought the apple pie had been overfried, but the interior texture remained intact. Probably a top ten meal of the year.
Currently ranked 1st of 14 November meals.

Cherry and tangerine?
[ cherry ] what is one thing you love about yourself?
Uhhhhh my taste in clothes :3
[ tangerine ] do you speak other languages? if yes, which?
Not really... I'm learning Japanese via Duolingo and only know enough Italian to ask Phasmophobia ghost questions, which isn't practical in the slightest xD

@madamhatter asked: 🍰 - What is a dessert you can't get enough of?
Munday Questions - Accepting!
My usual favorite desserts are all sorts of French patisserie! I love macarons and individually-sized mousses, cakes, etc. For Disney fans, Amorette’s in Disney Springs/Disney World is basically my dessert weakness on every trip I take. I cannot go to Disney World without snagging a treat from Amorette’s and a glass of champagne.
Other patisserie I like:
The Rose St. Honore from Laduree
The Mont Blanc from Angelina
But my favorite dessert of all time?
...Cannoli. Which is why I laughed out loud (really!) when I saw @causalitylinked’s muse ask what they were in a thread. Fun fact: a must-try dessert I had to have in New York City was a giant cannolo and it wasn’t as good as the more normal-sized ones. But it was a novelty experience!
A good cannolo (or multiple cannoli) is a transcendent experience. Right alongside their softer, pastry-like cousins, cartocci.
And yes, for some of Sonia’s favorite non-chocolate desserts...I sometimes give her mine. If just for the fact Novoselic is big on their unique roses, I can see Sonia liking rosewater-flavored desserts too.

honestly venetian cuisine is so different from much of italy i feel like everyone who has nico ordering some pasta with red sauce when they hit up a restaurant in new york whenever he leaves camp (we've all seen the trope by now) needs to go back to the drawing board on what nico would consider familiar from his childhood
