Ok @actual-bill-potts (I know this is you 👀) here's a silly lil ficlet for your prompt request! It's our boys having fun, so it's the opposite of everything I normally write and consequently have probably done a rather poor rendering 😂 But I owe you some happy Finrod and Balan after throwing only angst your way this whole time. So:

“Heru Findaráto,” he said in parting, rising as he finished the morning meal. He saw the twitch of the other’s fingers about the cup in his hand, the quizzical shift of his brows. Gildor too glanced at him in mild surprise, and Balan smiled, then dipped a bow to the others around the table and made his way out to the corridor and the wide terrace beyond.

He grinned as he looked over the river before him, the steep highlands rising on either side, and wondered whether he could maintain the dance throughout the full day. He had nearly fallen into laughter already at the first bewildered expression, and there were nine names still to manage.

It was a relief to spend these weeks on Tol Sirion. Nargothrond was home, settled and known, comfortable and predictable, but Balan missed the wind’s sharp sting, the expanse of sky. Nóm knew this, of course, and so brought him on every journey from the caverns, no matter how trivial, and their sojourns on this isle were ever Balan’s favorite. One could see all the vale of Sirion from this tower. He looked out, giddy and refreshed—the balance weight placed on the opposite scale, countering the badger’s dens with the flight of the hawk. 

He filled his lungs with the autumn air, grateful that there was another week yet before their return. Another week of the valley’s winds, of the dawn pouring through the windows, drenching the bed in light, of waking to see it dance through the pool of gold spilling over his pillow. How well he looked in the morning’s sun! It was rare that Balan woke before him, never in the caverns and only at times when the strange bed of travel roused him early, but he savored each instance.

And how he had shone that morning in the rays from the window, half-dressed and perched at the foot of the bed, his voice tripping through the chamber like a mountain’s stream, bright and breathless, unexpectedly shy.

Ai, disregard my words. You needn’t call me so if it sits poorly with thee. It was a frivolous request. Leave it be. Twas an indulgence only…only I would have thee say it once, if thou wouldst, that I might know its sound in thy voice… Nay, thy face is an eloquent picture on the suggestion, I retract my words. I should not—

Balan had kissed him to stem the torrent, the porcelain face cupped within his palms, the babbling tongue quieted beneath his own. Then he pulled away and smiled, kissed him lightly on the tip of his nose, and wandered back toward his own chamber in their ever-present charade of secrecy.

Ingoldo. He let it roll upon his tongue as he looked out over the valley. The name suited him, he reflected, the syllables warm and vibrant. It tasted of him. 

Well. He had waited years. Nóm could be teased for a day.

And so he had named him Findaráto at the morning meal. 

Firindil he was when they crossed the courtyard, Nóm once again as they carried apples to the tower’s stables. He was Felagund when they conferred with Edrahil and charted out plans for the goods to be carried back to the city. 

Atandil he called him in the midst of his laughter, bright-eyed and merry when Orodreth observed the cut of his tunic had shifted distinctly toward the Atani fashion.

Artafindë he named him in the solemn dignity of council. 

Finrod as they processed into the banqueting hall.

Edennil as the evening meal dissolved into song.

Then with his lover perched once more on the foot of the bed, his hair hanging loose and his laughter drifting through the star-kindled air, Balan wandered by and brushed a kiss across his cheekbone. “Angolodh,” he whispered, and his own laughter tugged at his lips.

Finrod tripped him at this and caught him about the waist, pulling him back onto the bed as their laughter spilled out in full and they fell across the linen in a tangled pile. Balan looked up at him, his eyes dark as the night, dancing, alight with mischief and mirth. “Ingoldo,” he murmured at last, and drew him into his arms.

My plane just got delayed at Heathrow for 3 days. What should I do in London?

3........days........sis. they really said FUCK your life!! are they paying for your hotel because i would make an entire white woman ruckus if they werent.

almost all museums are free, so if you like that theres dozens to go to. my favourites are tate britain and tate modern for fine art. the v&a is really good for their paid exhibits and they have lots of fashion, textiles and metal works and stuff. the science museum and the natural history museum are across the street from the v&a too.

if you like theatre, sometimes if you get to a show about 30-60 minutes before curtain, theyll sell you a ticket really cheap (£30-£60).

its not super sunny the next few days but the top of primrose hill in camden has the best view of the city. (the tate modern also has an amazing view from the new tower). nearby is the london zoo, and camden town is super close too if you wanna wander around the market. it shouldnt be too crowded since the weather isnt super great and its the beginning of the week.

for drinks theres aqua and sketch (kinda pricey but w/e), g-a-y bar has some of the cheapest drinks in the city. soho in general has lots of different kinda of pubs. pubs are easy, you can spit and hit one almost anywhere and theyre all generally the same.

as for clubbing, i think heaven is open tonight, i think popcorn night is on (essentially lots of pop music of all different kinds). theres also egg which does house/electronic/urban depending on the night, and same for cargo (but im not sure if cargo is open during the week). avoid fabric and mahiki like the plague.

if you go heaven, make sure you get a wristband from GAY bar first, so you dont have to pay full price. and also if you can manage to find the back entrance, go thru that one, otherwise you’ll have to wait in line twice for wristband entrance. keep in mind theres no night tube in the week, so trains stop running around 12am. theres a sexy cabaret next to somerset house called proud if you can afford the like £80 ticket/reservation charge (tho they usually give you a table and a glass of champagne so.....). also its proud embankment. theres also a proud in camden but thats a club not a cabaret.

i cant remember the name but theres also a franchise of pubs where you can drink and play video games if youre into that.

places to avoid during the day? trafalgar square, picadilly circus, covent garden, oxford street. overly crowded and pointless if youre not keen on shopping. they look nicer at night anyway.

i dunno what else to say. food is hit or miss. you shouldnt pay more than £20 for a meal (£30 at a push) otherwise youre being taken advantage of. best restaurants are in soho but they can get pricey if youre not careful. balans is great italian japanese fusion. theres a 50s diner on old compton in soho i believe. also a japanese place called taro in soho thats basically the same price as wagamama but is made by actual japanese ppl. theres a gelatto place around the corner from south kensington station on the way to the v&a/natural history museum. theres some cool shops on cecil street near leicester square, and the waterstones bookstore near picadilly circus has like 10 floors or something and no one bothers you if you sit down and read there.

Bollywood Movies Part CLXXXIII: The Mollywood Takeover Part XXV

Balan (Dulquer Salmaan) finds Sheela’s (Nithya Menen) camera after the cab they both tried to get in left with her. With the help of his friend Ummer (Sekhar Menon), Balan uses the the photos on the camera to track down Sheela, only to learn that he used to bully her in grade school. After this revelation, he avoids her only to keep bumping into her at awkward places, like his ex’s wedding.

100 Days of Love is a very good rom-com. I absolutely love how laid back it is and how the conflict comes from people being people. Nithya Menen is, of course, wonderful opposite Dulquer. I really enjoyed Sekhar Menon as Balan’s gamer friend. While he does seem a bit stereotyped as the fat gamer friend, he turns out to be more than comic relief. I also enjoyed Sheela’s quest to find the places and scooter in her parents’ romantic photos. Favorite songs are Arike Pozhiyum and Hridayathin Niramayi. Neither song has subtitles.

Anjali (Sai Pallavi) loves her husband Sidharth (Dulquer Salmaan), but Sidharth has a short fuse and does not cope well with stress. After an evening where Sidharth loses his temper in public in a spectacular fashion, Anjali packs her bags and leaves. Sidharth follows, and they find themselves in an extremely dangerous situation after nearly being run off the road by a trucker. Can Sidharth keep his temper so that they both make it out alive?

Kali deals with anger and its appropriateness in different situations. While the first half is a romance with problems due to Sidharth’s anger management issues, the second half is very much a thriller and when the film really becomes interesting. Sai Pallavi was delightful as Anjali. Favorite songs are Chillu Ranthal and Vaarthinkalee. Neither song has subtitles.  

Krishnan (Dulquer Salmaan) returns to Ernakulam to find out what happened to his friend Ganga (Vinyakan) after a disconcerting phone call from Ganga. As he travels and finds new information, he remembers his youth in Kammatipaadam before it became part of Ernakulum. 

Kammatipaadam is about how Dalit communities in Kerala were forced to give up their land to growing metropolitan areas in the ‘90s due to the real estate mafia. While Krishnan is our view through which we see Kammatipaadam, the real focus is on Ganga and Balan (Manikandan R Achari). I especially enjoyed newcomer Manikandan R Achari’s performance as gangster Balan who decides to give up crime after his grandfather’s death. Favorite songs are Para Para and Puzhu Pulikal (audio only).

This year, the more “traditional” hairstyle seems to be celebrating a revival, altthough it has never been “gone”. More and more girls come back from their Pixies or French Bobs and relive their early years in dancesport with the perfectly styled, tightly slicked back hair with no flyaways allowed whatsoever.

The “Finger Wave”

I am personally a great fan of this hairstyle, because it makes your look elegant, feminine and sophisticated and it takes away the “my-forehead-is-huge”-feeling, that I always have with the Melnikova-Bun. What I am talking about, is the neatly laid out front section of hair in form of a wave, reaching from the forehead to the back of the head. Finger waving was in style in the 1920s and 30s and is now blooming in dancesport. It looks classy, but still has the flavor of cheeky and also works great on short hair, especially to pimp the previously mentioned sleek look. If you want your own “Finger-Wave”-Wave, I would suggest you just take a look at different Youtube-Tutorials and practice a little bit before the competition. Trying this for the first time on competition day (like everything else), might get you in serious trouble.

Braids

The cornrow-look (where all your hair is braided in rows from front to back) is one of the hairstyles that guarantees attention. I never had this look myself, but I imagine it to be very comfortable. Definitely have to give it a try soon! Anastasia Novikova rocked that look at the Grand Slam in Stuttgart this year. But since cornrows are a more exotic look, it is also very understandable, if you don’t want to go full on straight away. Just having a braided bun is also very stylish. Here, the hair on top of the head is neatly styled back and then the bun is consisting of braids. Very nice are also “Braid-Crowns”, which is a similar look to the Finger-Wave, but the hair is braided across the forehead or back.

Ponytail with a Twist

Another very popular hairstyling is the ponytail with a twist: Long hair in the back and something fancy on top of the head. Very often the top hair is twisted to the back, so it gives a very textured, interesting look, almost as if the hair comes in stripes or in different layers. This look of course also goes well with a bun. If you are interested in spicing up your ponytail, you could think about dying the ends in a different color, like Louise Heise and Anna Matus did.

The Queen’s Crown

Another very common hairstyle has become the “Crown”. Basically it means: Whatever you think is beautiful – put in on your head.
