OutKast - Stankonia
This is OutKast at their most stylistically varied. At times they hit the G-funk so hard that they sound almost exactly like P-funk, and at others they are experimenting with drum and bass instrumentals, and yet other tracks see them integrating guitar riffs. OutKast, and Andre 3000 in particular, are always balancing creativity with corniness and Stankonia has the best balance. Plus the hooks are unbelievably catchy. You will have Gasoline Dreams, Ms. Jackson, So Fresh So Clean, I'll Call Before I Come, B.O.B., or maybe We Luv Deez Hoez stuck in your head after listening to this album.

Steely Dan - Aja
This is one of the most meticulously produced albums of all time. You don't even need $1k headphones to hear it. The balance is perfect, every instrument in its right place, crisp and clear. The vocals rise to the top but never overtake the piano or horns, the drums are crisp and punchy yet never overtake the mix. Even if the music sucked ass I would still praise the production. Thankfully the music is also teally good. Steely Dan have perfected their crisp and sleazy brand of lightly funky jazz rock. In typical Steely Dan fashion the songs can mostly be described as 'about some guy or girl'. There's one weird caveat that has nothing to do with Steely Dan but the song Peg is ruined for me because, as big of a Steely Dan fan as I am, I'm an even bigger De La Soul fan so Peg is forever the sample from Eye Know for me. If you don't have the same brain worms as me this shouldn't be a problem.

Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
I don't hate this album, I actually like it, but I do hate Rolling Stones' attitude towards metal. I can think of like five better metal albums from 1987 that they could shove in here, but no it is only the shit that's most palatable to dadrock audiences. Napalm Death - Scum, Laibach - Opus Dei, Mayhem - Deathcrush, Anthrax - Among The Living, Death - Scream Bloody Gore, King Diamond - Abigail. There that's six, none of them sound at all similar and they are all better than Appetite For Destruction. Sure I could do a real review for this album, but why? What could I say that hasn't been said? That Slash only jas one guitar solo in him that he reuses every song? Old news. That their whole aesthetic is corny as fuck(derogatory)? That their whole aesthetic is corny as fuck(affectionate)? Nothing I say here matters. I do like Nightrain tho. That song kinda goes.

Eric B. & Rakim - Paid In Full
The dynamic duo of 80s hip hop. Rakim was one of the best rappers of the 80s and Eric B. serves as a reminder that hip hop is more than just rapping. In fact Eric B.'s turntablism skills are more often the centerpiece than the rapping such as in Eric B. Is President or the instrumental tracks Eric B. Is On The Cut, Chinese Arithmetic, and Extended Beat. Although Rakim is no slouch and his dedication to internal rhyme schemes influenced a generation of lyrical miracles who would crash and burn trying to live up to Rakim's skill level.
Tumblr media
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
Astral Weeks is jazz pop with folk rock sensibilities. It features lengthy songs with a jazz band backing, but a lot of the instrumentals are also very folk influenced and the production feels more pastoral than jazzy. It's a hazy dreamlike mix of sounds that is fun and delightful to listen to, although I'm a little surprised at how high on the list it is. I'm confused and concerned that we have gotten two Van Morrison albums and zero Tim Buckley's.
Tumblr media
Stevie Wonder - Talking Book
Throughout the 60s Stevie Wonder went from child prodigy to teen hit machine and when the 70s began is when he finally entered his 'classic era'. Talking Book was his 15th record but it spawned the biggest hit of his career, Superstition. Talking Book also sees Stevie Wonder evolving as a lyricist. You Are The Sunshine Of My Life expresses a very pure, innocent love that sits a bit outside of how Motown love songs were usually written and Big Brother is the start of Wonder's blunt, serious political songs with upbeat melodies. A landmark album in the funk and soul scene and the start of an era where no one else was allowed to win Grammys
Tumblr media
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
Oh here come the very cool tough hard rock boys singing about Tolkein again. Fucking nerds. What is that a mandolin? Lol. This album is so fucking good.
Tumblr media
The Band - s/t
Oof, I'm conflicted. On one hand this is an amazing album, on the other it isn't better than Music From The Big Pink. The Band nail a sense of Americana here, especially on The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down and Up On Cripple Creek, but where Big Pink is a fantastic whole album this one is just a very good collection of songs. Swap their places and I have no complaints.
Tumblr media
Liz Phair - Exile In Guyville
You have no idea how happy I am to see this album here, let alone at such a high place on the list. Exile In Guyville is one of the most perfect pieces of lo fi indie rock ever made. Liz Phair hits a unique place between the grunge and indie scenes without ever feeling like she's trying for anything other than sincerity. The sparse instrumentation makes it so every note is important and every emotion is laid bare. The rawness of emotion is essential when she's navigating the nuance of different kinds of disappointed and dispassionate. Liz Phair comes off as deeply cynical about men, but also very horny. I respect that. She roasts handsome confident men and then sings longingly about pathetic weirdos. I really couldn't relate more. This album above all others really makes me feel like I could, should make an album myself. The raw production, the simple short songs, the simple but honest lyrics. Exile In Guyville is one of the greatest indie albums of all time.

hi what are your vocacolle highlights so far if you have any beacuse i have been so busy i haven't been able to keep up and you seem like someone who would have good recs
i! dont know if theyre all to ur taste but my personal playlist includes
(the only remix i'll put here) hiiragi magnetite darling dance remix. it has a similar energy to like kyuuyaku hankagai or shuuen touhikou its very obviously their style
sheeno mirin's anata ni wa narenai. again very obviously their style. kinda similar sounding to their other songs like heterodoxy or shicchatta
meddmia's yacchae! fresh young. idk what to say about it its catchy and fun. good kafu miku song.
rukaku's mea?. i like the funky little interlude part. the key press animation during its neat too.
naisho no pierce's kakumei no moment. i think this counts as vocarap. im not big on luka personally but its neat & kafu & flower in the chorus sounds really good
zeeka's fukenzen monster. zeeka's sekai songs really hit a certain vibe with me & this ones no different. catchy i think.
yurame's candy crack. twinkly kind of sound if u like that. dont remember if this one made the ranking but worth a listen
rinri's usureru. this is Much calmer & quieter than the others i've put so far but its really good. its mostly rime but hime in the chorus isnt a combination ive thought of before but it Works i really like this one
akire's HERE!. ive never particularly vibed with his songs before but this one. this ones got a very nice sound. does this count as edm idk im bad with genres. miku sounds soft in it & it works u just have to trust me-
ǢǪ's R4. this is another lighter sounding one (not as much as the rime one but more so than the others) with a chimey type of sound. i think the animation in its fun.
wataru sena's sensitive ghost. this reminds me of yowanecity's songs & i mean that in a good way. it has that type of sound. high energy type song. good.
eo's EX!T. another fun high energy sounding song.
kitto, zutto, botti's warau wa. its not super similar to it but it has a line that shares a melody with their other song amaoto to, mau so they're probably definitely related but im not invested enough to make sure. its good on its own even if u havent heard the other tho.
zensen's dance deggee. if u like. electro swing. i think thats what zensen usually does. its good. perhaps another kafu song for ur playlist
to-ya's arigatou. most underrated song i have on my playlist right now. its good edm ur honor.
a4.'s zetsubou. spring kafu song. the animation's really nice too. dont expect anything like jeep its quite different
and i'll leave u with natsuyama yotsugi's akeruE. dopam!ne helped work on it too. got a fun sound. one of those fake languages songs & its got a counterpart song being posted later today too.

Can you tell me the songs that express Shinee's style through the years ? PS: I'm sure your week will end up well !! All the love xxxxx
Anon u rly have me googling “SHINee discrography in order” on my work computer rn lmao
I’m gonna try to do 1 title track + 1 bside per year and see where that takes me lmao but I’m only going to do Korean releases bc if I added Japanese songs into the mix I’d simply explode it’s too much
2008:
Replay (obviously) is just pure SHINee essence at its finest in my opinion. Sweet and cute and catchy all at once. Timeless.
Love Should Go On it’s kinda funky, lots of minkey rapping which is just *chef’s kiss* but also the added plus of baby Taemin rapping as well, plus jongyu’s beautiful vocals. Idk there’s just something about this song that I’ve always adored. Maybe because it features all five members’ voices in ways that worked for them, which wasn’t super typical in the earlier albums since Taemin’s voice was still developing. Adorable.
2009:
Ring Ding Dong (yes I’m picking it over Juliette it was a rough decision but I did it) it’s just such typical SHINee in the sense that it’s a timeless bop, everyone knows it, everyone remembers it. Everyone knows NEVER to listen to it before an exam (which I learned the hard way in college bc I thought it was fake as fuck but then haha middle of a history final mumbling ringadingdingding elastic fantastic in my gotdamn head it’s a miracle I passed that exam lmao)
Romeo+Juliette it’s not like a super popular song I don’t think? But again, there’s just something about it that’s so purely SHINee. The beat, the way they sing so well together, the way their voices just match & compliment each other’s so well? It’s a little slower paced, but you could definitely still dance along to it. Kinda sensual I guess? A good teeny bopper song by a teeny bopper band of teeny bopper boys. Was my absolute favorite song all through high school lmao the way jonnghyun’s voice is so soft yet powerful at the same time? Spectacular.
2010:
Lucifer I mean it’s just obvious again like Replay, it’s what dragged me into the pits of Kpop hell. Everyone knows Lucifer. It’s quintessential Kpop at this point. Taemin’s dang stripey shirt hypnotized me in that dance practice Istg.
A-Yo is sweet and funny and silly and still so so good all at the same time. Taemin essentially calls you a dumbass in the first like 45 seconds but manages to do it sounding sweet as could be. Really uplifting. Catchy. Easy to sing along to. Listen to it whenever you’re sad and I’m telling you it’s instant happiness. Minho actually gets to sing in it and his voice is just lovely I adore this song with my whole heart. It’s lighthearted and fun. SHINee to me had always just been a group that’s uplifting and comforting, and this song is, in my opinion, the greatest example of that.
2011 (they didn’t have any Korean releases in 2011 so bonus songs from earlier years!)
The SHINee World (Doo-Bop) [2008] I mean I feel like this is self explanatory. Dibidibidiss my name is Minho.
Jo Jo [2009] again, SHINee’s just good at happy fun sweet songs. Jo Jo is always fun to sing along to.
Electric Heart [2010] is a bit darker in the way it feels. Very sensual. Breathy voices and all that. I was super obsessed with this song in high school as well idk. A nice look at SHINee transitioning into a bit more of a mature group, breaking away from the typical teeny bopper boyband vibe. Still funky fresh tho.
2012:
Sherlock aside from being the only title track from 2012 lmao SHINee have often mentioned this was when they felt like they really started acting like a Team and relying on each other more heavily. This was also when the Cold War took place but I personally don’t remember seeing any of it, so to me, Sherlock was just a cool song with a cool dance and Taemin having a terrible weave (and I got in trouble during an after school religion class bc I showed my friend Taemin’s shirtless promo pic and the Youth Leader thought it was porn lmao)
Honesty was a song that really felt personal, idk why. Like the members singing directly to us. Soft and sweet and still so meaningful. Like I’m gonna cry just thinking abt it lmao
2013:
Everybody so 2013 is so hard bc so many good songs came out that year. Like I genuinely am having a hard time deciding, but I think Everybody is a good pick because it shows how SHINee has never been afraid to experiment with their sound. It sounds totally different than anything else they had ever put out, but it still was so SHINee. It’s powerful and it makes you pay attention and like lmao god I’m not quiet abt loving a man in uniform so the wardrobe rly did it for me. But also wow all of their vocals are so good in this song THE LONG HIGH NOTES love it love to see it.
Beautiful just seems like a good pick. Again, 2013 is jam packed with amazing songs, it’s difficult to narrow it down. But beautiful was a song that was always super comforting as well. Their high notes and the way they sing together. Idk. I adore this song.
No Korean releases in 2014 and I’m getting tired lmao so no bonuses
2015:
View of course. Still the best summer bop in existence. We really see the members start to get more involved in this song specifically, from Taemin choosing the choreographer, Jonghyun writing lyrics as always, and Key picking the wardrobe. It’s a fun lighthearted song. I still listen to it when I drive by the beach because that’s just the vibe. Definitely a turning point for them, in my opinion, because this is when I think they really become more mature? Idk how to explain it. They don’t seem like a “boyband” anymore at this point to me, they’re just a band.
An Encore genuinely brings me to tears anytime I listen to it. It’s a SHINee ballad, and a really soul crushing one at that lmao. Idk why it’s soul crushing, necessarily, it just is.
2016:
1 of 1 is funky and fun and goofy and just so so SHINee. It’s not that other groups wouldn’t be able to perform a song like 1 of 1, it’s that SHINee performed it in a way that no other group could do it. They take every song they’re given and make it theirs, really. They own it.
Beautiful Life is another song that just makes you happy. It’s a ballad and it’s sweet and Jinki wrote the lyrics why am I only just finding this out now??! It’s a beautiful life. SHINee will always remind you of why life is worth living, tbh. Minho’s voice is beautiful in this song just a fun fact.
No korean releases in 2017
2018:
Good Evening 2018 is really hard for me to pick tbh. But Good Evening is a song that’s so heartfelt and emotional and soul crushing while still being fun? Maybe I’m projecting my own feelings from the time it was released to the song itself, but whatever. Good Evening is a bop. Love it. Makes me cry literally every gotdamn time I listen to it love that love crying on the freeway blasting this song it’s great.
Undercover was a personal favorite. Tbh a lot of the songs released in 2018 were very hard for me to listen to, and I still haven’t listened to all of them. I just can’t do it yet. But Undercover was fun and funky and idk, that’s just what SHINee is all about.
No releases in 2019 or 2020
2021:
Atlantis listen, this is also a hard decision. Don’t Call Me is quintessential SHINee in the way that it strays from the norm, it’s them trying something entirely new to them, but Atlantis feels like coming home after being away for a long time. It’s not that it’s the same kind of song they usually do, but there’s just something about that’s so familiar and comfortable.
Area is a song I cannot listen to without crying my eyes out. Doesn’t matter how many times I listen to it, doesn’t matter what time of day it is, doesn’t matter what I’m doing. It’s a beautiful song written by Minho and we all know it’s for Jonghyun. And that’s what SHINee is all about, too. It’s about the five of them being together, working together, being a team. The song makes me cry, sure, but it’s a good kind of cry. Also their voices are so beautiful as always.
HONORABLE MENTION
I fucking love Body Rhythm [2021] we all know I love Body Rhythm I feel personally victimized by Minho for promising a Body Rhythm performance and NOT FOLLOWING THROUGH I still nag him abt it on bubble idgaf. Anyways it’s sexy and horny and makes me wanna dance with someone while drinking a vodka cranberry and wearing skimpy clothes and red lipstick WHERES MY BODY RHYTHM PERFORMANCE CHOI MINHO YOU ABSOLUTE T E A S E

okay trying again because the wifi cut out the first time but! i really want to know about numbers 5, 6, 15, and 19 -hazel
hello hazel thx for stopping by the ol' ask box! i hope you're having a good day :)))
5. show me your favorite under-appreciated fic; why do you wish it got more attention? what if i'm weak (and i need you tonight?) was my fic with the lowest number of kudos at twelve until literally yesterday when it tied with my drabble and canoeing malum (and now that place is being taken by it's sequel lol) which kinda surprised me? i mean the responses i've gotten have been lovely but it's probably my favorite au i've written other than maybe the road not taken lashton universe, and now that it's part of a series i wish it had a touch more interaction so i can feel more confident if i decide to write more in that world (which hopefully i will unless my other wips kidnap me and hold me for ransom lol). i'm always going to write what i want and not what's popular/what other people might prefer but its always good to know new projects will be well received.
6. what fic is on your back burner, waiting to be written when you feel your skill matches its potential? ohhh there are a few but the one that i'm saving until i'm a stronger writer (and until i finish my first longfic) is this muke-centered series i think has real potential. it'd be in two (or maybe more) parts, the first being an another place by bastille songfic which would be a fwb situation where luke thinks they're just doing it to have fun and get out of their heads but michael's slowly falling in love with him (needless to say it'd be an angst fic) and then the next installment would be a fourth of july by fob songfic that'd be half flashbacks about how a few months after another place fic they ended up kinda dating but they weren't on the same page about what the relationship is (luke's leaving once the summer ends and thinks it's more a lighthearted, fun relationship before he leaves for idk what yet and michael thinks of it as a more serious relationship) and half somewhere in the future when luke's haunted by the realization that michael's actually the only person he ever loved and he just didn't realize it at the time and michael's trying to move on and they meet up again and have to deal with everything.
it's obviously a lot and tbh idk if i'll ever have the skill level to write it but i'd really really love to bc i think it has huge potential and i wouldn't trust anyone else to write it (no offense meant, i'd just hate for it to turn out different than what's in my head and then i wouldn't like it and offend whoever wrote it). it'd be a huge challenge not just bc it'd be hella long and i still have lots of plot issues to iron out but also i think it'd be better if it leaned towards an M rating (like obvs no smut bc i'm me but def some implied stuff and maybe a couple make out scenes) and right now i can't even write a detailed kissing scene much less anything M rated (it certainly doesn't help that i've never kissed anyone lol) so. my writing would have to improve by leaps and bounds. sorry that's probably way to detailed an answer than you wanted lkjsfkjds
15. what are some of your favorite tropes to write? do they match the ones you read? if you haven't noticed i love writing hurt/comfort and mutual pining in part bc they're both easy mindsets for me to slip into (for various reasons lol). idk if it's a trope but i also love concepts that are more,, out there ig? like i have a lot more fun writing something that's not necessarily your usual fic plot bc those tend to be the ideas i get the most and also there's more freedom if people don't have specific expectations. funnily enough, i don't really read a lot of hurt/comfort, esp ones dealing with physical injuries bc while i can write it i can't always read it (yes that makes no sense my brain is weird) i do love reading mutual pining but i'm usually more a fan of ones where they get together in the end while when i write it's usually pre-slash. i adore reading outlandish plots tho and am obsessed with other people's hyperspecific aus bc they tend to have extra passion from the writer that just bleeds into the fic itself.
19. do you prefer writing dialogue, description, or some other part? why? i think dialogue tends to be easier for me to write, and it can also be helpful bc the characters tend to run off in their own direction which can sometimes help me figure out what the heck the fic is about (it can also be annoying but that's a different problem). description writing is only fun when i come up with a funky fresh simile to describe a feeling and other than that it's struggle central lol

Do you think you could do a headcanon for the bladebreakers on their dance moves? Or if they have any at all? :3
OKAY THIS IS LIKE HILARIOUS SO IM JUST GONNA. KJBKJDBJ lets just go from Worst to Best aight?
Kai
listen i know we all dream of him being able to flip shit all breakdance style but
god, this kid can’t dance to save his life
he’s way too stiff for that and he has no idea what to take from the general atmosphere
(trauma does that to you)
while im pretty sure he knows AT LEAST some form of ballroom dancing (fukin rich kid) he’s not an avid dancer nor has he any desire to be
the most you’ll see him do is like. tap his foot to the music if he likes it
otherwise he’s very good at the Disappear Instantly move
Kenny
okay not going to lie; he’s a bit like Kai
he’s not bad per se, he just. doesn’t care very much about dancing
he probably knows a very basic waltz very well
otherwise he’ll prefer to just. stick to a corner and watch and drink fruit punch or work on his laptop
he does have pretty wild moves tho, mostly saved for very enthusiastic moments like seeing his team win, but he won’t use them on the dance floor or anything
however, there was one memorable party where someone spiked the punch and Kenny had a little too much and kinda went ham
he doesn’t remember half of that evening anymore
also all devices containing incriminating videos mysteriously short circuited
Ray
like sure, he took some tap-dancing classes when he was a kid
but those didn’t stick very well into actual dancing than it did to his martial arts
he’s hella awkward on the dance floor
he just doesn’t know what to do?? he’s not. used to scenes like this and its not like he can just bust out some tai chi to make up for it
usually, he just has to be kinda eased into it with his friends, he’ll find his rhythm on his own after a while
he’s a master in the “White Boy Side Shuffle” how Max called it
no, he’s just shy and a tiny bit embarrassed, leave him alone
he’ll get the hang of things eventually and then, its actually pretty fun shimmying on the dance floor with him
Tyson
KJSBDKJ OKAY LISTEN
we know this kid was pretty much glued to hip with Max, so he pretty much picked up everything from the other
usually it looks goofy because thats just how Tyson is, he loves it when his friends laugh when they’re too shy to make the first move
so, he just puts himself out there, getting all funky fresh and you know he’s gonna pull everyone into his orbit
and after he got everyone to move, he busts out his actual repertoire in dance moves and they’re??
not bad??
he’s actually pretty good, easily being able to move with the rhythm
he’s the absolute in shuffling his feet all light and quick, Kai was kinda miffed that he wouldn’t move like that during training where it actually mattered
either way, Tyson doesnt mind getting all down with the fancy footwork, its fun!! especially with friends!!
also, him and Max? Unparalleled.
Max
i wonder who was actually surprised because i sure am not
c’mon, he’s an active cheerful kid who regularly hangs out with all sorts of people in America, he definitely learned how to hold his own when it comes to dancing
also; its fun!
this kid would hear any music and you can already see him bobbing his head and shaking his shoulders – its just a feel good thing
he’s very versatile – he can go from typical college frat boy bop to actual choreography he copied from watching videos/actual dancers performing
its. pretty impressive
but really. Max is just in it for all the good fun; he’s pretty much known for making up little dances on the spot whenever he has to wait
its not rare to see him and Tyson goof off and challenging each other to ridiculous dance offs
he’s been pretty much banned from dancing to Light It Up by Major Lazer bc he makes everyone just look bad
LET HIM DANCE HE’S JUST HAVING FUN
Bonus: Hilary
a bit of a shy dancer at first
she’s never been particularly interested before, but seeing everyone having so much fun, she did get curious
so she has Max show her some moves and she picked the few that she liked and went with it
she’s quite good too!!
and quite cute while dancing
she agrees with Max; its fun being able to let loose
she always starts off with this cute little shimmy before being spun around by the boys
once on her birthday, Kai gave her a spin in a classic ballroom dance and she was so happy and nervous she stepped on his foot twice

and so while I like how tom hollands spiderman is kinda funky fresh and gives us a look into a younger or at least more accurate take on spiderman when he was at the age of 15 + u get the added bonus of actually seeing him interact w other heroes which is kinda new + the play on the word home in all the titles honestly epic and its like just overall more of a fun time I also really liked how w andrew garfields spiderman its seemingly more mature and I actually rlly like how it doesnt just gloss over grief when a character dies although I guess some people disliked how often he was sad but like mf loses everyone he kinda has a right to be sad and also the cgi/special effects in the amazing spiderman is honestly cooler imo even tho the homecoming series is literally more recent and also gwen literally such a girlboss...
right so back to what i was saying -- harry osborn is also hot so theres that benefit but also aunt may not as hot in the amazing spiderman series RIP milf may .... as for whos accent is better honestly idk I think I liked the like pitch of andrew's a bit better but he kinda pronounced some words weirdly at times but its fine u know hey babe r u still listening wake up

This lentan season has me model my life on Jesuss life by giving my legs for him cause for lent i said that I would do the rasputin dance everyday and tbh i did and it was fun but my legs are just gone yk?

Seventeen 'Alone' Album Review
disclaimer: i love this album and im super biased :) also this is so long stan seventeen
When I heard ‘Going Seventeen’ in December I thought “Now they have reached The Top for music quality” and I was a little bit scared that they couldn’t hold up to that in the future.
boi was me wrong
For me 'Alone’ totally outdid 'Going Seventeen’ and now I’m sure they will continue releasing amazing music in the future while trying (and owning!!) many styles and still remaning Seventeen-ish.
Individual Songs:
- Dont Wanna Cry: a masterpiece wtf. I loved it from first listen and you can see how much they have grown looking at the way they distributed the song compared to 'Adore U’. Mingyu and Wonwoo shine as the main rappers here and they fit soo well into it. Also the vocal distribution its much even. China line still doesn’t have much lines BUT they are center and stand out in dancing. Finally they figured out how to showcase their talents in tittle songs :’). ALSO THE CHOREO HOLY SHIT FUCK.
This song its the least seventeen-ish, it doesn’t have that funky-fresh sound to it but who cares?? They fit so the concept so well and they’ve wanted to do a cooler concept for a while, I think the boys will enjoy this era a lot and so shall we as well.
-Abuse/Mutual Words(Vocal Unit): Honestly v/u songs seem kinda boring to me most of the time, and I always hoped for them to step away from the ballads and do something more upbeat. This is not it. BUT it is my favorite v/u song so far!! Its still a slow song but it has a spice to it, kinda like a 70s ballad? i love the spin they gave to it. its more momorable than past songs and I’m here for it.
pd: @pledis we know woozi has a more powerful voice than you’re making it seem. free him.
-If I (Hip Hip Unit) : hh/u has had 2 types of song in the past, either softsoft or swagswag and this song finally found the *perfect* balance between the two. Still not sure if it beats check in or cant see the end tho... but its definitly chillin up there. Refer to this song for Vernon’s BEST verse :). One thing tho: I think this song could do w/o the drop :/ I mean I like it but it doesnt add too much to the mood of the song? idk anyways its still a bop
-Swimming Fool (Performance Unit): A BOP!!! I couldn’t help but dance to it in the highlight medley. Its kind of a softer EDM more chilly and cool, super funky and unique just like p/u. It’s not Highlight but it has its own spot in my heart :’) the whistles tho like... bictch p/u invented whistleling. bp? i dont know her. Its hard NOT TO dance to this!!
-My I (Jun X The8):... bish................... how do.. how do i .. talk about thi.s?? like... expectations? exceeded. wig? gone. china? saved.
I stan chinaline so much its actually hard to write how much I love this lol.
Ok so, first the beat its so tropical but its not mainstream? Its kind of.. arabic? idk man it reminds me of Ed Sheeran and Lambada??? It doesnt sound like Lambada but still lmao. It’s so unique?? I wasnt ready fam. Ok next its their vocal performance..... killer. Jun’s voice its so mature and steady I think he could carry a whole song by himself tbh :/ Also The8 on the second verse like.. rap king wtf. Whoever thought of the “my iaYAYAYAYAYAYAY~” its a genious and deserves an award immediatly please. ALSO THE LYRICS?? They are sooo cool!!! like!!! my baby hao its so cool!!!! let him write everything seventeen says from now on @pledis@woozi . A music video of this would be appreciated :) no ot13 tho... just 3:03min of chinaline existing. Thank you.
I still can’t believe this song actually happened and its actually the song of the century? Chinese Gods™ only.
pd: I highkey wanted this song to be in chinese. highkey waiting for a chinese ver.
-Crazy in Love: Title song material tbh, like too much title song material its suspicious, I DEMAND music video!!!!!!!!! Its so funky-fresh but mysterious at the same time, so seventeen, the most seventeen-ish song in the album, or ever. Also the choreo: best choreo seventeen has done, super creative and fun 11/10. They speak so much english here but I bet no one noticed lmao. Its so catchy and fun... like if Fast Pace and Boom Boom had a child? Its perfect really. As you have notices I would rather have this song as title for an upcomming album than having it be a B-side :/ kinda disapointed...... unless they do an actual coo music video for it!!!!!!!!
Overall: I love it. Spectacular. Amazing. Show stopping. Never-seen-before.
No but really, this album has a very specific mood and its not their most “diverse” album genre wise, however I dont think thats a crime since all songs are actually good, great quality, masterpieces. I’ve always tought that after Love&Letter their album quality skyrocketed like crazy but I wasnt sure it was gonna last and with Alone I’m SURE Seventeen will continue making extraordinary music for us :’)
There is visible growth in some members that for me stood out in a way or another that I’ve personally never felt before: Migyu (his rapping is much steadier and more “his” ukno?) and Jun (between highlight and my i he showed us he had a wider range tha we have been led to believe, i smell lines soon).
I give this album a :
“whats a wig?” out of  “a well placed wig”
