I originally took her to the vet because she hadn’t eaten for a month and I was a bit concerned. I assumed she was just ovulating but the vet told me she would have to lay the eggs she was carrying. I called them today and let them know she has still not laid them. They said they should go ahead and do the surgery while she’s still strong so there

(2/2) will be a better chance of survival. The thing about my vets is the act like they have all the information on everything and have never informed me if they have a lapse in education. So I assume they know what they’re doing? But I’m still worried. I’m hopping she’ll just lay the eggs before her surgery next week so this whole thing can be done.

From the way this is phrased, I’m going to assume that your vet is an all species or mammal vet who takes other species less frequently?  I’m not about to decry a vet, but I will say that they are people and can be fallible in things they aren’t as experienced in.  The entire field of medicine is sometimes, unfortunately, ruled by educated guesses and what you read on paper.  This happens in human medicine frequently and that’s for doctors who only have to be studied on a single organism!  

Not all vets will defer to others, either.  They may feel that they really do know what they’re doing or have done it a time or two and feel confident in their practice.  I don’t want to keep making leaps of logic here.  I’ve probably made my point.  Here’s the thing.  On paper, a female that looks like she has eggs.  Hasn’t eaten in a month?  That could be going by the book, and of course anyone who doesn’t deal with reptiles much often thinks, ‘My god, not eaten in four weeks!’  When it can be very natural for a reptile.  I’ve even talked to vets who are surprised by that because they are mammal focused.  That’s what they see every day.  It’s not their fault at all.  

And while it is absolutely true that doing surgery early while they’re still strong enough is paramount, with major surgery there still needs to be a level of certainty that it’s absolutely necessary.  The first vet who treated Nalani didn’t know that you had to stitch their skin back a certain way or risk it never starting to heal.  Those are just things in the small details.  Is this vet not reevaulating your girl?  Did she have new symptoms?  Did they ask? 

But didn’t you say in the other ask that she still had something of an appetite?  When is the last time she ate?  Is she losing weight quickly?  Is she showing any signs of discomfort?  If she’s eating, is she still going to the bathroom normally?  Is she managing to pass even just urates?  

What did the vet use to diagnose these eggs?  Did they take x-rays?  Did you get to see that or take them home/get them emailed?  You could consult another vet with those possibly.  

If you’ve taken pictures of her during this ordeal, compare earlier pictures to her most recent to see if she’s looking lots thinner.  I’d be happy to take a look at pictures of the girl, too. But I’m no professional.   

Again, I’m not personally a vet and am not going to outright say your vet is wrong.  But if they aren’t at least an avian specialist, and they don’t deal with reptiles on at least a semi-regular basis, I would ask if there are any specialists they know of in the area that they could point you to.  

Or if you’re nervous about that, see if you can find a reptile or avian vet that does come up in your searches online, even if they’re a bit of a ways off and ask if they know of anyone closer by.  When I moved here I did tons of searches and didn’t manage to come up with much, so I went by what some local people said.  

But once this blew up and I actually found a reptile specialist vet, well they had a whole list of names because they knew of one another, if not knew each other personally.  These are in a fairly large square mile radius and the one vet referred to them all by first name.  Vets in an area usually know one another pretty darn well, in my experience.  The ‘vet community’ always seems pretty tight knit to me, and frankly if they don’t know other vets, I’d kinda wonder about that.  

The specialist I found was semi-retired and had given up his specialist practice, which is why I hadn’t been able to search up his name before  I only found his name when I did a specific search for the small city that my nephew lives in, called them, and asked if they knew of anyone further out.  None of these vets had come up in searches for the metro area alone.  

By all means, if your girl sounds like my story did, then it’s probably time for surgery.  But if she’s eating some, going to the bathroom pretty normally, is still plump/holding her weight, and still seems the same as always, just get a second opinion.  Looking around on forum posts in the last two months as I have, I’ve seen people who had surgeries SCHEDULED with their vet, get told to go get a second opinion only to find out that the first vet had mistaken fat pads for eggs.  It can happen.  

I don’t want to get your hopes up that nothing is wrong, here, but you just want to be sure.  Two full weeks truly eggbound would be quite a while.  Your girl should be showing some sign of distress by now, I would think, even if it’s just the bloating and fast weight loss.

Cop did not know the fine amount, the consequences, or even what category my violation was in. He thought it would not be as severe as a speeding ticket, so to teach me a lesson he gave me a ticket. If he just let me go with a warning, the same lesson would have been learned...just sayin'. Just looked it up...looks like it is just as bad as a speeding ticket, and a point will go on my driving record since I already had gone to traffic school for speeding June 08. Its completely unjustified for something this minor to be equivalent to speeding, but of course, the law has no compassion. Can't really do anything about it now...""

I explained to him numerous times and a week later my mom calls me at work and says gieco called and my friend is suing them. she also said he has a lawyer. He's suing for bodily injury! My told me not to stress it but it bothers me so much. He definitely doesn't deserve anything and especially being in perfect healthy condition. My car insurance company recently cancelled my policy due to unpaid direct debit. Here is what happened. My direct debit didn't get paid on the 8th Jan 2013 due to my bank refusing as I didn't have enough funds. 3 days later I recieved a letter through the post stating they will try again in 7 days. 10 days later they tried again and it said that it successfuly went through. 4 years after DUI... insurance?

so when i was 21 i got a dui (it's called an oui here in Maine, but same thing). PLEASE DONT JUDGE ME I KNOW I WAS YOUNG AND STUPID. anyway, i ended up selling my car to pay for the whole mess since my license was getting suspended anyway. since then i have been a happy bicycle commuter! now the time has come for me to become an adult woman again and get my license back because i have enrolled in a college that is not in biking distance. I have signed up, paid for, and in 2 weeks will be taking the DEEP class required by the state of Maine in order to be licensed again. basically i am curious about my insurance premiums. i haven't had my license for almost 4 years, but i have read online that your insurance will have to be sr22 and all expensive and whatnot for THREE years. also, i have since turned 25 and will be 26 soon, so i expect a rate decrease from that. i guess my question is: have i managed to bypass the higher insurance rates because it has been 4 years? if so, it almost seems too good to be true. i am highly suspicious. can anyone give me some insight as to what to expect when purchasing my insurance? thanks chums""

OK im 17 and a guy. I passed my test about a month ago so i can drive :) My parents agreed that they would pay insurance for me if i paid for lessons and the car. My dad keeps saying he will do it one evening but its been a month so i asked him today because he had nothing to do, and he just started shouting at me for always going on and i should go get a '******* job because im a lazy little ****'. This is pretty unfair as i work hard at school, get straight A's, never in trouble with the police like most people who live near and don't drink or do drugs unlike most my friends. November 2015 I decided i wanted to try to have a second child. After having the Mirena IUD for 4 years i set up an appointment to have it removed. I had my appointment easy removal no issues no pain, i was given prenatals to get started.

I was under the impression that i would get pregnant within a few months! 3 months past and nothing was happening....4...nothing....5...looking blue about now...6..7..8..9.10 NOTHING. I had been tracking my period VIA period calendar which also tracks ovulation, i also tracked ovulation VIA ovulation tests, i wasn't ovulating. I was beginning to think i would not get pregnant, i gave up. November 2016 I decided to stop trying and instead focus on weight loss, since it was a much needed thing for me. I focused so much on my weight loss that i am now 50lbs down by July of 2017. I feel much better and my husband wanted us to try again, i didn't want to try again because i felt defeated the first time. Although i felt defeated i was FINE. But i didn't want to go through it all again. I finally gave in seeing that, maybe my weight had played a factor in my inability to get pregnant, my husband really wanted this and so does our 6 year old daughter so i said FINE we can try again, it is now October and i am still not pregnant. This time i went back to the Doctor. Not only do i feel defeated i feel broken, worthless, like TRASH. I feel like as a woman I am worth nothing. I was told i do not have PCOS but i do have Multiple Cysts on my ovaries. There was my answer. I've had depression before and before i knew it i started spiraling down i knew i would fall back into it, i was stress eating and I'm currently undoing all the hard work i put in to lose weight. All because i found out I am broken.

The Dr wants me to try fertility pills, but what will that do? Its going to heighten my expectations and then they are just going to come crashing down when i don't get pregnant. I am currently still in this state of pre-depression i can feel it coming i can see it close and i don’t know what to do to run away from it. I wish i wouldn’t have tried again, i wish i would have stuck to my guns and just continued on my weight loss journey i wish i wouldn't have wanted another baby and this would have never happened.

I feel like I shouldn't talk about this to anyone because I do not want to have pitty from my friends or family. Only my husband knows, I am afraid to tell my mom and I tell her everything. I am afraid to speak to people who care about me because I am afraid they wont care enough, or that they will care too much. It's not a happy medium situation if they care I will assume its pitty, if they don't I will assume they just don't care about me. It's not their fault and i know that, but this is why I don't want to tell anyone. This only happened Tuesday and every day since then I have had people throw me the so typical "you should have another baby!" What do i say to that? Nothing all I say is "Nah it's ok i dont want one" all the while im texting my husband telling him I am about to cry. This is HORRIBLE, i never thought this would happend to me and yet it has. I dont know what to do or how to act. I feel like the emotions people are getting from me are fake, i feel like my emotions to myself are fake. I lie to myself too much? Im so confused about life. What did I do that was so terrible to have God punish me? Why does God think I am not capable of being a good mom?
