WIP Wednesday (6/12) | Guardian Angel Neil AU (Part 199)

“Like that,” Neil says, holding up a scarred hand and gesturing to Andrew’s face. “You look sad. Stop it.”

“I’m not sad. I’m just thinking,” Andrew says with a wave of his hand.

“Then you better stop before you hurt yourself.” Neil says with a petulant little grin. Andrew sticks his middle finger up, but that just makes Neil laugh.

“I hate you.”

“Liar.” Neil accuses, making Andrew squint at him. The angel is unfazed. “Speaking of people who pretend to hate me… Did you see Kitty last night? I couldn’t find her anywhere.”

“Nope.”

“Maybe she found a better porch to live under.”

“Maybe.” Andrew parrots. Or maybe she never existed in the first place. No, so. He saw that... bird carcass thing. That was evidence of a cat. “Come to think of it, I saw some sort of mangled bird in the neighbor’s yard this morning. Kitty must’ve had an early lunch.”

Neil’s nose wrinkles. “Good for her, I guess.”

Neil clenched his hand into a fist and then flexed his fingers, and then repeated the process. "How much money was in the pool?"

Nicky scoffed from the backseat. "Let's just say that I didn't have to dig into my savings to be able to pay for my flight," he said, a haughty air to his words. "Be prepared for more of the Foxes to be coming over in the next few weeks, though. I went ahead and reserved a time and place for an actual wedding for you two."

It was a miracle that Andrew didn't crash into anyone as he cut across two lanes and pulled off onto the shoulder of the road.

Nicky swore very loudly as Andrew slowed down the car, and even louder as Andrew unbuckled and got out of the car.

Nicky opened the door and got out of the car as well, careful to keep the Maserati between himself and Andrew at all costs as Andrew circled his target.

Andrew Minyard was not a morning person. That was Neil's role, with his morning runs every day, regardless of the weather. The only mornings Andrew tolerated being awake for were when Neil would come back from his run, rinse off in the shower, and come back to bed with his hair still damp. Or when Sir and King had settled down in a perfect spot on the bed, where they weren't quite touching him, but close enough for him to enjoy their extra warmth, especially as the seasons started to change and the weather started to get colder. Of course, he would never admit such things, even if he was being held at gunpoint.

One of the situations that made mornings bearable for Andrew Minyard was certainly not the one he found himself in that morning.

"Andrew, I need you to get your ass to the airport right now."

2. Will you participate in any fandom exchanges or fic challenges, etc? 

Yes! I’m already signed up for @aftg-mixtape (which is due in February 😵‍💫) but I’m planning on signing up for @mdzs-mixtape and @mxtxexchange also. I also do @yuletidetreasure every year but that’s not until the end of the year. I’m contemplating doing @kinnporschebigbang but idk if I want to commit myself to writing a long fic this year. And if @aftgthenandnow happens again this year I’ll 100% participate in that. So it’s a year full of fests for me 😂

9. Short term goals… what do you hope to complete this week or in January?

Well this week I’ve got some family stuff going on so I don’t have time for writing but in January my goal is to finish my AFTG Mixtape fic

Last chapter was a bit dark.... The moment I started the comic I was like: how tf do I light it up again? Then I looked in the ask box and there it was...

If anyone thinks this was good story writing, you're wrong! I don't plan these comics, I base them on your requests and only try to connect them. It's very funny how this worked out.

Summary:

The problem was, Andrew didn’t know what he wanted. Wanting something was such a foreign concept to him. His whole childhood, he just wished he would disappear. The only thing he wanted was for his next foster home to not be as bad as his current one, and that never happened. When he finally found his family, all he really wanted was to keep them there with him at all costs. And if he was being really honest with himself, he had dug his claws in so deep that he had almost pushed them away entirely in the process.

He had wanted hookups, but only on his terms, and it was always just a means to an end. He wanted Neil. He wanted him so bad Andrew had thought it was a side effect of the drugs. But after Easthaven, Neil was still there and Andrew still wanted him. Getting to have Neil and his family should be enough, he never thought about wanting anything beyond that. But ever since their conversation on the roof, it was all Andrew could think about and it was driving him crazy.

or, Andrew thinks about Wanting and has a (very Mild) crisis about it.

"Welcome to Ugh." Andrew says while sitting in a perfectly white room on a simple black chair.

"We're your hosts, I can't believe I'm still alive to suffer through this, it's Jean Moreau." Jean says pouring half of a bottle of wine into a wine glass and handing the rest of the bottle to Andrew before taking a sip.

Andrew accepts the bottle, "And Contractually obligated by the Real House-spouses of Exy to say I'm happy to be here, Andrew Minyard." Andrew says.

"Today's segments include, 'No Kevin just because it has Exy in the title doesn't mean any of us want to hear about changes in player stats'" Jean says tiredly.

"And ,of course, 'Is it fashion or is Neil just hot enough to pull it off?' The answer may surprise you."

WIP Wednesday (3/20) | Guardian Angel Neil AU (Part 138)

“No,” Aaron says, stepping into his way. “Seriously. Who is she? What’s her name?”

Alright, now Andrew is seriously confused. “Whose name exactly?”

“The girl you’ve been sneaking off to see.” Aaron says as if it’s obvious. Andrew can’t help but cackle. That’s what this is about? Really? How hypocritical considering where Aaron spends his time between classes on Mondays and Wednesdays.

“You are barking up the wrong tree, Aaron. There’s no girl. I keep my promises,” Andrew says, watching his brother’s brow furrow. He’d like to tack on a ‘unlike some people’, but he finds he hasn’t got the energy to argue about this tonight. He needs some privacy to freak out about his angel.

“Then where have you been going?” questions Aaron a bit too loud from the way Kevin glances up. He starts to take his headphones off, but Andrew holds up a hand.

“You’ve got it backwards, I’m afraid. You’re not my keeper, I’m yours,” Andrew tells him. “And it’s none of your business where I’ve been.” 

Before Aaron can open his mouth again, Nicky comes out of the bedroom.

Thankfully, their morning the next day had been more or less typical; Neil had gone on his morning run and Andrew had gone back to sleep after Neil's alarm had gone off. By the time Nicky finally came out of the guest room, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand, Neil and Andrew were already on their second cup of coffee.

"Aaron called me at nine last night," he said while trying (and failing) to stifle a yawn. "Couldn't you two have waited to tell the others until I was awake? Damn, I need coffee. Please tell me you have some left."

Neil sipped at his own coffee while Andrew nodded his head in the direction of the pitcher they'd brewed that morning. "Knock yourself out."

"I'm glad to hear that you were at least slightly inconvenienced by your own actions," Neil added.

"Hey," Neil finally said, and even though Andrew didn't look away from the road, Neil knew he had his attention. "Did you know?"

Andrew didn't answer, at least verbally. However, he did start tapping his thumb against the steering wheel and start checking the rear-view mirror more frequently. It all pointed to an unspoken I had my suspicions.

Neil was torn between laughter and anger. Laughter from how ridiculous it all was. If Andrew's plan had been to get married to Neil, then there were several ways he could have gone about it that would have been more succinct and would have helped them avoid the very situation they had landed in. Yet he felt a surge of anger at the fear he knew that Andrew still carried inside of him, whether he wanted to admit it or not—that this would all disappear one day, or that none of it had been real. So of course their marriage would have been in the same muddled water as the rest of their relationship. Neil hoped–desperately–that he was wrong. But if that was the case, then he needed to hear it from Andrew.

Finally, Andrew spoke. "Never for sure. The possibility that it might be legitimate occurred to me a few months after, but I never looked into it. It was supposed to be fake. I wanted it to stay that way."

"Why?" Neil pressed, putting his back to the window so that he could fully face Andrew in his seat.

Andrew's hazel eyes flicked in his direction for no more than a second. "I would have gone about it differently if I'd known it was real."
