If you catch me posting Bible memes I'm not turning into a Christian or whatever the fuck I was before my intense spiritual crisis 2 years ago (or was it three)? I went to school for academic theological studies (analysis of religion from an exterior view point) and recent books have me nostalgic and hyperfixating.

#if anything grief turned me back into atheist #ive been a few things #my dad was raised catholic but is a staunch atheist #and mom was sort of Pentecostal and sort of methodist and is a like #soft atheist who definitely believes in ghosts and curses and shit #and i was an atheist for a long time but i felt drawn to Catholicism #it felt like a culture idk #and then it got more and more comforting to non commitally hover at its edges through witchcraft and loose modern spiritual stuff #and perform mental gymnastics about it and mostly believe large swaths of its mythology without thinking about the moral and human side and #also not converting because i couldn’t face my parents if i did and i also was already aware that i couldn’t #but i kept convincing myself that The Church as an institution could somehow be good despite how evil everyone running it is #and then my education finally got the upper hand over my weird desperate longing to fully believe in something beautiful and nearly ancient #and also my father had repeated lies he didn’t know enough to spot #my education finally made me understand that The Church was only >1000 years old #that the gnostics (originally a jewish tradition according to bart d erhman and he referenced this as being commonly accepted)#were the group which the supposed messiah belonged to and the patristic church (catholic church 1.0) had them all killed #unarmed ascetics starving in the desert the people who wrote the earliest gospels and the church killed them all #there is no textual basis for the authority of the pope #the devil was a comprise #the saints were a marketing tactic #correction: the church is sort over a thousand years old but it went through so many iterations and eras before we got here #to be exact #the church FATHERS aka the church that will become the patristic church in the wake of these dudes #and im fuzzy on if the orthodox church is a fully separate iteration or if it and the patristic are used interchangeably #Catholicism as like a term comes out of the scism with Protestantism i think

#art #ive literally just been treating this game as a library simuator #i walk from bookseller to bookseller opening up all of their books #vivecs sermons are either a highlight or the point at which i stop reading #ive been trying to convince the ordinators that imitation is the highest form of flattery but it hasnt been working #let me wear your helmets please theyre so funny..#posting morrowind in 2024 isnt a cry for help but youre not wrong to be concerned.#morrowind #almalexia #vivec #im going to explain the chitin armor give me a moment #so the bonewalker nerevar on the shrines is adorable and it was only after drawing it however many times that i realized #it looked relatively close to a modified chitin armor #and so i modified chitin armor a few times and this was probably the cutest result #i also know i drew almalexia relatively pristine and untouched by years and vivec not so much but my thought process was #vivecs role as if not a favorite then the most accessible divine or the most “hands on” in a manner of speaking #acting in ways visible to the general population or actions explicitly brought to their attention #like not that almalexia isnt doing anything she is #but the dissemination of information regarding that is very different etc etc etc #anyways to a certain extent a god is the face on a shrine or in art or upon a statue or carving #but vivecs presence is interwoven with the geography of vvardenfell especially and his actions and writings with pubished materials #and the arts and culture and customs etc etc etc #so to me the face of a god you know and feel a commonality with or a god that walks alongside you is a face you would recognize #and vivec is already otherworldly looking enough #the simple mark of the years on his skin in some way grounding him in reality felt more right #that and i think the ways in which he and almalexia care about outward appearance are slightly different- they prioritize different things #and the ways they present outward power and their embodiment of their respective attributes share some similarities as they both have that #important preoccupation with physical power and physical strength to a certain degree #oh my god nobody read this i am yapping so bad.#tes

Been thinking about the X-Files recently. A show I have a hazy, but fond memory of.

#the x files #x files #fox mulder #dana scully #poorly drawn x files #is this going to be a thing? maybe?#iirc: The x-files is about two FBI agents who are trying so hard to be professional and not fall in love. And everything is a conspiracy.#...It *has* been nearly a decade since I saw the x files. I think I'd have a hard time rewatching for a few reasons but I did enjoy it.#This was initially just a work doodle I wasn't going to clean up #but the amount of x-files fans that Ive seen about + Lazycranberryart's wangxian x-files art got my brain too fired up.#Mulderscully vibes are like: "I'm her silly rabbit. she doesn't call me that outloud. But I believe in my heart it's true.'#Its about having faith and trust in each other! They might not always agree either but they have each other's backs!#Scully is 100% the one that kills the spiders in the relationship. Mulder wants to rescue them but his ideals aren't strong enough #Girl Daddy and Baby Girl Boy. That's who they are to me.
