do not ask me how many times i've listened to these 9 albums idon't even know myself. it's way too much though. i couldn't put all 4 boysnightout albums here so i just stayed at 1 and put it in the very middle because they altered my brain chemistry <33

senses fail gets 2 albums because i didnt spend weeks only listening to those 2 albums for no reason... their lyrics mean sm to me i want to illustrate the albums or songs one day. this goes for both senses fail and boysnightout btw. AND armor for sleep. there's something about that specific album. i realised i really enjoy albums that tell a story. and the fact that i like themes of angst love blood betrayal etc etc is no surprise either. car underwater got played way too many times

i discovered bedwetters thanks to eurovision, they were one of the options for estonia and i ofc found their old and only album (they released a new one a few weeks ago tho) (i dont know why they have 2 spotify accounts. im not asking). i even got to see them live bc they gave a free concert during summer <33333333 i got a picture with the band too !!!!! so cool

the new hollywood undead album got me back into them so im back to being obsessed. i love my silly california guys :3 i've been keeping up with them since and i desperately need to draw them again, this time without their masks!!!! im very glad that i found alesana to be sooo palatable this year because ive tried to listen to them before when i was a teenager and it just... didn't click, even if i tired. so yeah i get to fix that mistake now.

in spring i had a moment where i listened to sempiternal on repeat on the cd player for multiple days straight and in the past month i've, again, been listening to bmth and specifically sempiternal again so it gets a special place, too.

wilbur is just there because i had jubilee line stuck in my head so so so so much and also it's the best study music ever. also wilbur why is i'm sorry boris so silent. i can barely hear it it makes me angry so i always skip it. and then bc its the end of the album it gives me some lmanburg flag cover-art song that i don't like

anyway here's a special mention to these 3 albums because 1) greeley estates - caveat emptor, i just discovered it this week and i am in love. also greeley estates has been in my radar for quite some time now and i find the singers voice to be very pleasant and interesting? the tone does sth for me 2) brand new - deja entendu, for being stuck in my head for a good week because the tommy gun song wouldn't leave my head since it came on shuffle from my saved mp3 list when net was down 3) just surrender - if these streets could talk, because again i was obsessing over this for like a good week before i forgot about it. good album. not available in serbia tho for some reason

can you tell i love talking about music that i like. i know nothing about music it just makes me happy. :)

hi xy time for what is becoming my annual checkin! how are u! i feel like since its been abt a year i have to infodump abt all my character development hold on i'll speedrun it. my pronouns r it/its zhey/zhem or (less preferred) they/them. and i have settled on those. it/its is the only one thats ever given me gender euphoria, took 4 years but i got there. ummm realized i have autism (undiagnosed). love the stimming and the being insane abt fictional characters the rest isnt that great. got anxiety meds!!!!! oh my god xy!!!! life is so good now antidepressants r a girls best friend. also. hold on ur never gonna believe this. i have adhd meds now. the crowd goes wild. was like yea doc idk i just think the anxiety meds r not improving my ability to focus what was that u said abt adhd^__^ n she was like hmmmm ok i cant diagnose u but i can give u this adderall u dont need a diagnosis for n if its like glory hallelujah we'll just assume u have it and GLORY HALLELUJAH. ive cleaned my room like more times in the past few months than i have my entire life im WINNING. i cant rly feel if its working but i'll sit down to write or smth n i wont get distracted every 5 seconds n the mental block that keeps me from doing things is gone!!!!! life changing stuff just wish i had it before my grades fuckin woooo splat. um my gpa is 2.2 weighted im like. ok well now that i have adhd meds im working on it -H (i feel like. ok i think tumblr made it so ur asks can be longer but fuck all those liberals n their woke agenda (joke) i am all abt tradition babey i'll be back for a pt 2 rq)

ummm rly into books love books. "thats old news h everyone knows that" but like im being wonderfully unnormal abt them<3 there was this one series the ascendance trilogy n i was fucking OBSESSED w it when i was younger n i learned there was a 4th n 5th book recently so like. the trilogy thing was a fuckin lie. but i obviously had to reread the series so i could read the new books n im still so obsessed w the series its so banger for a middlegrade series. got so unnormal abt it i made a 7hr playlist for the main character bc everyone elses sucked so much ass i just had to. still in the process of rereading but yeah. also theres this OTHER series the raven cycle i read recently n im also obsessed w that these series r all like my ideal books they hit all my favorite tropes. yeah just being rly unnormal abt books thats my current obsession. also. drawing. im so good at it u wouldnt believe. next fuckin van gogh right here. n honestly i dont even care abt going off anon it just bothers me bc my ROUTINE. the TRADITION. its just not the same. but i'll go off it just for u to show u some of my banger art. at a stage where im pretty frustrated at my limitations but that doesnt mean i cant recognize that im fucking awesome ok hold on again -H but yea ok to finish up what have u been up to! tempted to just ask what shows/game/etc uve been into but also i am exerting a little of my brain power to realize some ppls lives dont revolve around those. so just liek what have u been spending a lot of time doing. how is writing going! wait what r ur drawing skills just out of curiosity draw smth for me (if ur comfy ofc n dw i completely understand if it fuckin sucks taht was me just over a year ago) -H (when i was younger i used to think that ppl couldnt be good at writing n drawing they had to choose one. exerted my baby brain power to be like. it takes too long to get good at them u can only do one. then saw a book w the cover art credited to the author n i was like woahhh this is fuckin crazy living my younger selfs pipe dream)

My sibling is also obsessed with the raven cycle, but i have not read it yet (still debating if i want to or not, have been for YEARS lol, because i keep hearing "author problematic" and then never remember Why because i have Goldfish Memory). I will not post your off-anon ask with the artwork unless you want me to (want you to feel comfy on the blog and sending asks and I know you prefer anon!), but i will say that your art is AWESOME, my friend!! you are SO good and you're only going to keep getting better! I am glad you enjoy it!

Also bestie. This is a neurodivergent space lol, my life also revolves around shows/games/books/etc. they are the only thing that make the monotony of life and job-having under a neurotypical capitalistic society bearable lol. I actually have been getting back into reading ACTUAL BOOKS lately which feels GREAT (because reading Actual Books when i am so tired and Non-Functioning all the time is Hard lol), i am finally going through my seemingly-endless TBR and also have reread some old faves this year. Games-wise, the only thing i ever think about is still the Dragon Age games, Alistair is the love and light of my life lol. Show-wise.... i am in Limbo because of the Exhaustion, tragically, and also just waiting on new seasons (OFMD). Witcher has a new season out, but i have not watched it yet because Energy and also i have no motivation to because the last season they put out was so bad (even if i hear this one is good, i have lost trust lol)

Writing is. Not quite going lol. I have not finished a fanfic in ages, and also have made little to no progress on any of my original work attempts either, tragically. Hopefully things look up for me soon cuz I wanna get stuff DONE again lol, this blog has become so quiet and near obsolete because i cannot FINISH anything and it is TRAGIC.

Also, I have little-to-no drawing skills, but I also unfortunately do not have much energy to apply to drawing you a picture atm :(( maybe someday. Sometimes I can draw something that makes me go "omg i am not Awful, maybe I could actually put thoughts and energy into learning this as a skill" and other times it is like "i will never put pencil to paper (or stylus to screen) ever again" lol. Maybe someday when i am doing Better again i will hopefully have the energy to draw you something!!

YES OMG THE POISONED DREAMS SERIES (from what ive read so far) IS SO SCRUMPTIOUS - the print copies have art in them and im just so obsessed teehee . summers fic and MA over the past few months have been the things i looked forward to in the then - futures . cova is srsly taking all of our hearts hostage w that blessed fic LOL its also real fun that the reader in fic has a hydro vision (this doesnt count as spoilers right ?) because ive always personally envisioned (haha) myself with one too . cova also has other works w alhaitham in it that are like kinda sorta connected to summers fic , my favorite being this one , i love the fic description LMAO

i've only read the summers fic until chap 4 (currently reading chapter 5) and it's so good. the mc and alhaitham's dynamic is so funny HAHA i keep laughing every time they have their stupid banters especially in the middle of fighting/interrogating people.

mc having a hydro vision is actually so nice too!! in chapter 4 at the part where they were sitting by the water and mc was playing around with the water by morphing them into dolphins and such was a nice addition to them. having a hydro vision sounds so fun and honestly i kinda want it too now LMAO

i'll also be sure to check out the other fic you've linked! cova's work with the summers fic is truly good and they're hella good at writing, so i'm not gonna miss the chance to not read their other works 🥹

and wow!!! i think you'll do a great job at writing again, and if you ever decide to get back to it, i would drop everything to read your work. no really, you're good at drawing, you make poems, you like solving out stuff, you make your own games— what can't you do???? you have such amazing skills and talents, i'd drop on my knees to see more of your work 😵‍💫

i won't deny that writing is such a big commitment and it takes such a huge effort to get back on your feet, and that's okay!! i think it's really neat that you have your own personal projects, i would say that's a total win!!!! hehe

google docs has this section where it lets you add comments in the words you've highlighted and i took every opportunity to make the silliest ones in some lines i've written for ma (would we consider this as proper annotations? i don't think i would...), here are some of them

Several! I have scratch marks on my stomach from when my skin was really sensitive and i scratched too hard, i have a few self harm scars, i have a scar next to my eye from when i was 2 and i tripped in the bathroom, i have several on my hands from my cat and i have one on my knee from when i had a leg infection and they sliced open my knee so they could remove it!

... This is a miraculous painting. The intricacy of the delicate waves of oil paint married to the vibrancy of the colour is matched only by the importance of the present work to the artist's career coming as it does from his most celebrated period in the early 1960s. When one considers that the condition is perfect and that it has not been seen in public for fifty years one must conclude that this is a work of art which truly deserves to be nominated a masterpiece.

The painting reveals much about the artist's technique, a practice developed over years of unwavering dedication, and also tells something of his own personal story. It comprises an intimate portrait of one of his most enduring sitters, a woman who was crucial in the evolution of Auerbach as both a man and as an artist. A museum-quality work appearing at auction for the first time, E.O.W. on her Blue Eiderdown Vis evidence, if further evidence were needed, as to why Frank Auerbach is now widely regarded as Britain's greatest living painter. The simplicity of Auerbach's life, an asceticism which springs from his absolute devotion to painting, is often noted in descriptions of his life and work. He travels little, and generally avoids the limelight. He has also restricted the subject matter of his work, focusing in particular on a small group of sitters and a limited area of North London streets situated close to his studio. E.O.W. on her Blue Eiderdown Vis a portrait of one of the select few, a model who sat for the artist over a number of years, and was also his lover for much of that time. Auerbach met Estella Olive West, better known simply as Stella, in 1948, when he was seventeen years old and she was thirty two. An aspiring actress, their paths crossed at the amateur Communist Unity Theatre, where they performed together in a production of Peter Ustinov's House of Regrets. Auerbach moved into West's home in Earls Court as a lodger, and an intense relationship both artistic and personal quickly developed. In the end, West was to sit for Auerbach for over two decades. The portraits that he painted of her, vivid reminders of an enduring, complex and at times tempestuous association, are some of his greatest works of art. The production of one of Frank Auerbach's paintings is a long, slow process. In fact, he tends to complete only a few paintings each year, the majority of them are portraits. The deep impasto that we see in works such as E.O.W. on her Blue Eiderdown Vof 1963 is the result of hours, days, weeks, months, sometimes years of careful layering, building and sculpting. One false move and the hues bleed into one another causing the primary colours to muddy irreparably. These layers must be scraped away entirely and reattempted from scratch. To have such a complete composition of fully built up paint is incredibly rare in Auerbach's oeuvre requiring as it does the commitment and patience to sustain the tension of interlocking waves of paint throughout the pictorial plane. Only when Auerbach is completely happy with a work does it see the light of day. The artist is his own ruthless editor, with only the best paintings and drawings emerging from his paint-daubed studio. For his sitters, the experience must at times prove challenging, and Stella West herself stated that posing, although it began as "a sort of game", later became much harder, "more demanding" (quoted in Robert Hughes, Frank Auerbach, London 1990, p.133). The physical demands of sitting hour after hour, week after week in the same position are almost unimaginable for those who have never been involved in such a protracted creative process. The fact that this is one of his largest scale figurative oils and that the sheer weight of paint is so substantial leads one to conclude that the present work could comfortably have taken longer than a year to produce. That the hard work involved, both for the artist and for his model, was worth the effort is ably demonstrated in the magnificent vision of this stunning painting. It is clear that Auerbach needs to know a person before he can properly paint them. He recognises the value of a personal affiliation with a sitter, his innate understanding not just of the generic human form, but of the specific body and face that he finds before him crucial to the success of a painting. Auerbach's close connection with Stella West, and its impact on his visual portrayals of this woman that he knew so well, is poetically captured by Catherine Lampert, an art-historian and curator who has herself sat for the artist on numerous occasions: "His paintings of her reveal curiosity and tenderness. Strokes cross her form, other marks draw out emotions, like an exorcism, their directional force close to carving, making flurried edges, deep hollows and corrugated skin where wet earth colours have been placed on the semi-dry result of the previous attempt" Auerbach's style is, of course, unmistakeable, and ultimately unique, but his art nevertheless displays a profound knowledge of the art-historical canon. The influence of Rembrandt on his work, particularly on his portraits, has been recently explored in a display of Auerbach's paintings next to those of the Dutch Old Master at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. In its portrayal of a slumbering human figure stretched sinuously across a colourful ground, E.O.W. on her Blue Eiderdown V is reminiscent of the posture of the two figures in The Siesta by Vincent Van Gogh, now in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Like both Rembrandt and Van Gogh, Auerbach also experiments with the limits of the material itself, pushing and pulling the paint into thick, sculptural strokes. As can be seen in the present work, paint is squeezed directly from the tube, leaving long glossy cylinders of oleaginous pigment. At the time that he painted E.O.W. on her Blue Eiderdown V, Auerbach was expanding his awareness of recent developments across the Atlantic. First introduced to the work of the Abstract Expressionists at an exhibition dedicated to the New York School in 1958, Auerbach's own practice seems to have been informed by the use of gesture that they advocated. Already experimenting with a new, bolder palette of colours, his works of this period also display an astounding sense of vigour, the "furious energy" described so well by Isabel Carlisle. A comparison of the present painting with two similar images of Stella West now in the collection of the Tate Gallery, London give an important insight into the developments of the artist's palette around this time. E.O.W. Nude of 1953-4 shows her as a pale, almost ghost-like figure reclining against a background of dark, muddy browns. Meanwhile E.O.W. Nude on Bed of 1959 reveals a growing interest in colour, with rich russets and verdant greens appearing across the composition. Finally in this E.O.W. on her Blue Eiderdown V, painted only three years later, we see sky blue, blood red and sunshine yellow bursting out before our eyes, layer upon layer, mixing and melding in a riot of bright colour. A painting which exhibits an extraordinary physical presence, E.O.W. on her Blue Eiderdown V, can be relished from various standpoints. As a portrait, it allows us some insight into Auerbach's private world, a glimpse into his circle of lovers, friends and associates. As an art-historical object, it also tells us much about the development of Auerbach's distinctive artistic practice, one which places him within a long artistic tradition and has also made him a globally revered figure. But most importantly, as a painting, it is absorbing, utterly enchanting and astoundingly beautiful. After all, it is the creation of such fine paintings which has obsessed Frank Auerbach for the past six decades. The remarkable vision that we find in E.O.W. on her Blue Eiderdown V, and its deep understanding of both the human figure and the paint itself, is testament to a lifetime of painting, and to the incredible talent of the man who views his art quite literally as a way of life.
