Jack McCoy Headcanon (AU) #1
Jack never had sex with Clair win his office.
He only made love to her at his house or hers, but mostly his.
They would kiss , cuddle or just hold each other in the office. But only when they would work late. When everyone would go home and it was just them two.
he had fallen in love with Claire which made it all the different.
it was more intimate and even though they worked alot, he'd rather not do it at work.
and it was a precaution to not get caught.
other women he did , but with her never.
(Jack seems like the type to take relationships very seriously and with Claire I refuse to believe they slept together and it later turned romantic. It had for be romantic from the jump. Like friends then romance type deal. And it was real for them both. So at home seems more intimate than an office space and more romantic. And he seems like a sweet lover anyway and would rather be at home in a bed with the women he cares about than a couch or a desk. Plus office sex never appealed to me. Desks do NOT seem fun. Plus they have to be hush 🤫 hush 🤫 about it lol Even though there is a scene where is was implied there some goings on 👀…)
(dont get em wrong g I LOVE the idea cuz of all the amazing fanfic I read but cmon....at the office during the DAY TIME??! maybe late at night earn everyone is gone lol)

Mad respect for anyone who is shipping Kincoy in this day and age, these people only interacted for 2 seasons nearly 30 years ago, yours truly wasn't even born until more than 5 years after aftershock premiered. We saw these two idiots swear they wouldn't have an affair in their first meeting, took and ran with it. Many thanks to the OGs out there who saw this going on live and pulled up to the internet thinking I have to document this when it took more time to boot it up than me writing this post.

Summary: For @thatesqcrush's Valentines Challenge Day 1: Love Letters. It's Valentine's Day 1996, and Claire Kincaid is making big decisions.
Words: 1.4k
Warnings: none
--
Claire stretched out on the bed, her arm immediately reaching across to where the sheets were cool. The clock radio alarm hadn’t gone off yet, 6:23 glowing red into the darkened room. She stretched, the T-shirt she was about eighty percent sure she’d stolen from Jack riding up as she did.
It was quick to get showered and dressed, putting on her favourite necklace. It was a rare day not in court so she could relax and just deal with motions and books. As she shimmied her pantyhose on the alarm sounded, drive time morning djs to convince her to get out of bed quickly.
“And it’s Valentines Day folks, so for all of you in relationships I hope you’ve got a plan for tonight. Too late for reservations now. And for you single folks tomorrow is half price candy day.”
She half snorted a laugh, wondering where she fit in. That night would be either at her apartment or Jack’s, some form of takeout and probably doing legal research while making jokes before he convinced her to drop her research with soft kisses and smiles. So they did have their plan for tonight.
When she went into the kitchen living room of her apartment there was coffee already brewed. Jack was gone, a note left on the counter in front of the pot.
Realised I have a brief due at nine, gone to the office. Get in safe and we’ll leave early tonight. Love J
She sipped from her mug with a grin on her face, feeling like a teenager in love for the first time. They’d been together for over a year and things were good. It was secret, but they’d started having the discussion about telling Adam. Jack was nearly convinced that Adam knew anyway, and apparently the man was a bigger romantic than he was given credit for. But the scars from Thayer were still there even though this was so different. This felt safe, for the first time in so long. She trusted Jack McCoy with her heart, and he’d proven worthy of it.
The train in wasn’t too busy, the one advantage of being on it by seven fifteen. It was straight into the office, an elevator to the fourth floor and sliding into her chair as she put her bag down. A pink card was sitting on her desk with blocky handwriting, C Kincaid on the envelope. Inside was a cheesy valentines card, the poem about love in so many forms. But it was the inscription that made her smile.
Every day I consider myself so incredibly lucky to have you in my life. Your knowledge and abilities are first rate, and your care and compassion knows no bounds. I love you.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
The smile on her face grew as she put it down, not wanting to make it obvious. Jack came out of his office a few moments later.
“Did you get the case law for Heller’s brief on the suppression motion?” He paused for a moment, eyes flicking to the card. “You have a valentine, Claire?”
“What can I say, someone appreciates me for more than my research skills. And yeah, if we take the standard set in D’Onofrio we could use that here to quash the motion to suppress.”
It was a busy day despite not being in court, and she barely had time to drink water, let alone eat. When she arrived back from the bathroom there was a roast beef sandwich and a cup of soup on her desk, Jack looking approvingly from his office as she sat down.
When she finally got the brief written she walked into Jack’s office and sat on the couch to go over it all with him. They barely noticed the sun beginning to set outside until a knock at the door jerked them out of their conversation.
Adam walked in with his hat and coat on, ready to leave. He stared at the very deliberate space left between the two of them before meeting each of their eyes.
“Do neither of you have anywhere to be tonight? It’s the most romantic night of the year, I’d assume you’d each have a date.” It was the closest he’d ever come to talking about their personal relationship.
“Valentine’s is a Hallmark holiday. I’d rather show how I care about someone every day of the year rather than on one specific day,” Jack retorted, pushing glasses up his nose and running a hand through his already messed hair.
“I pity the next Mrs. McCoy. See you both tomorrow.” He closed the door gently beside them, his steps echoing on the tile floor as he left.
“He completely knows and that was his tacit approval. You do know that, right?” Jack asked, Claire blushing slightly.
“We can have this conversation later. Have we got anything else to look at?”
“It’ll wait. Here, go change into these and meet me in the parking lot.” She took the denim jeans he handed over, clearly pilfered from her wardrobe that morning. But true to his word she went to the bathroom and put them on, pulling her blazer off and shrugging on a coat instead. When she made it downstairs Jack had her helmet waiting for her with a smirk that she just wanted to kiss off his face. But she put it on and straddled the Yamaha behind him, settling in with her arms around his waist as he kicked off.
It was always a thrill being on the bike with him, their bags in the saddlebags as he drove them carefully through the Manhattan streets. She watched out of her visor as he drove them across the Manhattan Bridge, going straight through Brooklyn. Finally they pulled up at Coney Island, the lights vibrant in the night sky and the sound of the Long Island Sound in the distance. She got off the bike with Jack’s help, pulling off her helmet and shaking her hair out.
“You look beautiful.” Jack’s voice was sincere, looking down at her with his brown eyes shining in the neon light.
“I look a mess.” Claire opened the saddlebag for her purse, taking the red envelope from it. “I got you one too.”
“A what?”
“Don’t play dumb, McCoy, it doesn’t look good on you. I know you left the card on my desk this morning.” He had the grace to smile and look down as he took the card, pressing a kiss to her forehead. She watched him open the envelope and took a breath, so worried for his reaction as the silver key dropped into his hand as he read out loud.
“Jack. This last eighteen months has meant more than I can say, and I love you. You let me realise I deserve to love someone and be loved. I was scared to admit this, but this relationship is the most important thing to me. So once we hit working together for two years in June, I think we should tell Adam and reveal it. I’m pretty sure everyone already knows and I want to make it real. Here’s the spare key to my apartment so you can come around whenever you want. All my love, Claire.”
He stared at her, the nerves Claire had felt disappearing as she saw the love on his face for her.
“I love you. And I want to tell the world. You’re not some dirty secret and I never want you to feel that way.”
“I love you too.”
He took her hand as they walked down to the beach, buying a burger and fries for each of them as they sat on the bench and stared at the water. Lazy kisses were traded until they were too cold and got back on the bike to get to Manhattan again, Jack pulling up outside his building and helping her off the bike. Instead of their usual careful check for anyone they knew he took her hand and interlaced their fingers while they walked inside.
“Mr. McCoy, Ms. Kincaid,” the doorman greeted as they went in, Jack nodding in response. But once they were in his apartment and he kissed her, Claire felt like she was home.

Jack McCoy / Repeat Offenders
Okay, let me explain. After becoming addicted to Law and Order: SVU, I ended up moving onto the original Law and Order. I’m almost through the entire series, (on season 20 currently) and I just love Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston). His portrayal of McCoy is so compelling in every episode that I had to write something about him. Sooo, this. This is my first fic I’m posting, so I’m very nervous, but let me know what you think. Enjoy!
Imagine if you and Jack worked together, and on a late night, end up kissing after a tough case.
Tumblr media
“We shouldn’t be doing this,” You whispered, and he looked hurt for a moment, pulling away, but you stopped him, grabbing his arm. “I mean, with the door unlocked,” You added, much to his relief. You saw his body relax as you got to your feet. You scurried to each door efficiently, deftly locking it, before coming back to sit on his lap. You carefully sat, as if he was made of glass and would shatter. You just didn’t want this to be a dream, for him to disappear into nothingness. But as his arm firmly grasped at your back, holding you close to him, you realized just how real this was.
You wasted no more time,  leaning up and capturing his lips in a real kiss. One that took both of your breaths away, and unlike the one before, it wasn’t full of doubt or discomfort, but untethered passion. Soon, your hands were wrapped around his neck, and his were trailing lower, holding your hips to his own. It was everything you had imagined, and more.
“I’ve done this before,” He whispered huskily in your ear, as he stopped pressing kisses against your neck. You paused in unbuttoning his shirt, meeting his hard gaze. It was the same gaze he gave before every verdict you sat in on with him. It was same look that he gave you two were unsure of what the outcome of the case would be. It was the same look he gave when a touch on the arm lasted too long or a shared look seemed to last centuries. It was the same look: of hesitance, of doubt.
You didn’t how you ended up this position with your boss, no less, but these feelings had been on the rise for months. At first, it was strictly professional, but friendship and humor ended slowly eroded the barrier of professionalism, to the point where heartbreak and tragedy completely obliterated it. Spending late nights after verdicts became a tradition that the two of you shared. Instead of spending his time alone with a bottle of Scotch or yours alone with a good book, the two of you turned to each other, for a late dinner or an early nightcap. Eventually, instead of seeing your boss, you saw this man, of conviction, of passion, of undeniable honor and intellect. Someone you had fallen in love with, and for months you had both fought the urge to do it; the urge to break a long standing rule in this office of fraternizing. There were looks, there were innocent touches, there was even a brief kiss that had never been mentioned again. You both had repeatedly decided against this relationship, on your own, but today, something had snapped. Neither of you could quite place what.
Perhaps it was the case you both had just lost. It was the case that made you lose a little faith in humanity, and to be honest, it was a case that everyone had a hard time with. Adam had went home to with be his thoughts, leaving us for the weekend. Abby was handling another case, so she had left early to get a jumpstart on her work,  and there left the two of you.
You two decided to have a drink, though he was the one drinking scotch while you settled for a water. The two of you sat on the couch in his office, his arm innocently slung over the back of the couch, brushing ever so slightly against your shoulders. You were completely seated on the couch, feet up curled against the plush leather. Your body was turned toward him, as he laid against his arm on the couch, facing you.
You both comforted each other about the loss, but your minds turned to other things: each other. There were things you couldn’t change, but there were things within your control, and that included your feelings for him. He had posed the idea we can only change what is in our control. You had responded, “Then what can we change?”
After what seemed like an eternity, he leaned down and answered your question for you, so chastise that it barely qualified as a kiss, but for good reason; he was testing unsure waters, and seeing how far you were willing to dive with him.  He moved only a hair’s length away, so close you could still feel his breath on your lips. After a moment, it seemed like a millennia, you kissed him, and that’s how it began. Perhaps it was his rolled up sleeves and casual appearance or your suspender suit or the tension that had been wound so tight over the past few months and simply needed release. Whatever it was, it now had found you two making out in his locked office, trying to remain as quiet as possible.
“I know,” You breathed. You had heard the stories, of the ADA who he had become involved with discreetly, whose life had ended in a car accident, their relationship cut short by fate. He had taken a vow not to date anyone he worked with again, not to be that guy anymore, the one that Adam warned him against, but now he found himself with you. Your fingers brushed against his cheek, as he looked down, unsure.
“It never ends well,” He admitted to you, showing weakness, a rare sight. A sight unseen by most. “I don’t want to hurt you, professionally or. . .” You opened your mouth to retort, but he talked over you. “And you have no evidence to prove that I won’t.”
Your eyes softened at his words, the pain weaved in his words striking you between the ribs. You pressed a firm kiss to his lips, running your hands through his silvered hair. “And you have no evidence to prove that you will.” Your fingers continued in their task of unbuttoning his shirt, capturing his lips in another kiss that seemed to steal his argument away. He broke the kiss, but you persisted, interrupting his sentence.
“I have, a very, convincing, pattern of behavior,” He managed to get the last bit out, holding you by the shoulders, and giving you that same look once again. “And I don’t want to repeat it, especially with you.” His eyes softened, and you sighed.
“Jack,” You finally said, taking him by the shoulders and sitting him down. You leaned against his desk. “I’m a grown adult, and so are you. I am well aware of your past, and I’m fine with it, but I want something more from this relationship. I was under the impression you did too.” He took your hand, thumb brushing against your palm. “You can’t let your past dictate your future. You can only learn from it. The real question is, are you okay?”
Jack chuckled, brushing your hair from your forehead.“I kissed you first, and you’re asking me if I’m okay?” You shook your head, frowning at him, slightly hesitant to broach the subject.
“I mean, the things we talked about with Claire,” You started to pull away. Claire had only passed away a few years ago. Jack had never quite got over it. “Do you need more time, Jack? I don’t want to push into something you aren’t ready for.”
He sighed, putting his forehead to yours. “Claire is gone. I can’t change that. I’ll always love her in some part of my heart, but now, I want to explore this new thing with you,” He kissed you for emphasis, and you nodded. He took your hand, pulling you into his lap. He kissed you, remarking that it’s payback from before, and taking it deeper than he had previously allowed it to be. He began to trail kisses down your neck once again, unbuttoning your shirt.
It was your turn to stop him. “So where is this relationship going?” He gave you a bewildered look, at a loss for words, and you gave a wicked grin, chuckling. “I mean, are we going to do this here, or can we go back to your place? My place is being fumigated.” He shook his head, smiling, as you got up and fixed your shirt.
“Just for that, I’m driving.”

Jack ended up giving up his motorcycle.
Claire and him ate this point already ahd 3 kids and expecting one more.
Claire had been hinting at getting one but Jack couldn't ever imagine driving one those things.
After a long hard decision but he eventually "suckered up and got a van"for his family which he surprised Claire with.
(inspired by a one my fav YouTube video of this couple where he pranked his wife into getting a sports car when they were excepting their 4th child lol I know he gives up eventually but I think he would have to for his kids )

At 15th anniversary Party, (their kids idea) so they invited friends and Family , they had a cute who know who better game and one of the question was what is the feature your partner likes about you.
Jack never made any particular statements about any part of her hairy other than saying she’s beautiful (which she want but not the thing he loves about her)
And Claire assumed it’s a she legs because she’s has heard that before from men.
Jack answer was her voice. He thought is was so sexy and smooth and jokes one time to her about if she doesn’t make it as a lawyer and fell on hard times she’d make a killing as a phone sex worker.
(Jill voice is great, I’m surprised no one mentioned it before lol idk)

Kincoy Headcanon (AU) #1
Being in love with Claire made Jack go to great lengths to keep an affair under wraps as much as possible.
Rules of their relationship:
1. No Kissing, touching or hand holding at his office or outside.
They had to watch themselves and being the DA and assistant DA didn’t help it either. NUC is a big city but somehow you always seem to find someone who knows you somewhere.
It was hard for them both because they are both just drawn to each other.
Them developing a friendship over their time together made some displays of affection more acceptable but nothing to ever suggest romantic.
she did risk it one foggy wrong he decided to join her for a jog/walk
Only time they were affectionate it was in his office after everyone had gone home and they worked late.
2. Only sex and dates at their homes.
Aloof affairs big and small make the mistake of going OUT together and being romantic.
They did go out for drinks and jog or take walks together but nothing to suggest romantic but a co worker /friendly walk .
It sucked sometimes but they had to deal with it until they can actually BE together without consequences.
Jack loved Claire so an office wasn’t romantic in the slightest to him and he wanted to make love to her and doing that in an office need appealed to him for that.
He tries to make it as romantic as possible. They even slow danced a few times at dinner.
and they always called it 'home' so being there wasnt too bad.
(I know this was implied when we see them out having lunch and dinner often. but I hate seeing that he wasn’t as cautious as he SHOULD HAVE BEEN with sex at the office .🤦‍♀️ )

Claire shook her head, lacing their fingers together. “How about we lay down some ground rules?”
Jack chuckled. “Rules, huh?”
“Yes.” A smirk twitched at her lips. “If you come within six inches of my personal space in the office, I have permission to taze you.”

— “All I Wanted”
Love is a strong word, Claire thinks, as her body melts into the warmth of Jack McCoy’s hands against her hips. She shivers when his lips graze the skin beneath her ear. Yes, love is a strong word.
But they could learn to, she thinks.
One day.
