OC Meme
tagged by @bettydice thank you!! (though posting to my da blog instead of main). after reading about her Hawke now im just thinkin bout my own Hawke so here we gooo. i've only made decisions for her up thru DAI era though lol
GENERAL
Name: Hawke. lets not talk about my first name conundrum. she has abandoned the first name. its fine.
Alias(es): honestly i play a mix of colors so none of Varric's built-in nicknames feel right, but i have not picked a unique one either
Gender: Female
Age: nnnnn whatever the game canonically is, i think the start of DA2 she's early 20s and end is around 30? so like 40s by DAV for the timeline where she escapes the Fade
Place of birth: Lothering
Spoken languages: common, all the rivaini swears Isabela teaches her, like 10 words of elvish from Merrill, and whatever qunlat she can get out of Fenris. all of them are badly pronounced/accented.
Sexual orientation: every character ive ever made is bisexual probably
Occupation: either On The Run with Fenris or fighting The Horrors, both in or out of the Fade
FAVOURITE
Colour: red probably
Entertainment: hanging out & drinking/chatting, cards only bc other people around her get up to them (loses about as much as she wins but is only in it for the sport), poking her nose where she shouldn't, reading Varric's books with Fenris
Pastime: getting overly invested in other people's business
Food: to cook--probably mostly in the stew or roast based category, things you just sort of toss together and leave until it's done. or grabbing random fruit or whatever to eat on the go. to eat--willing to try anything if someone else makes it
Drink: ales & ciders rather than hard liquor, where she ends up drinking more quantity than quality
Books: Varric's for fun. Books on magic/theory when she can't brute-force her way through something, but in a "research project" sense more than a "for fun" sense. Occasionally tries Fenris' really dense history tomes but gets distracted too fast
HAVE THEY
Passed university: nope. i assume there was some sort of group schooling available for children of Lothering since she learned to read, but was never particularly academic/didn't see that as a sacrifice of fleeing Ferelden anyway
Had sex: yes
Had sex in public: probably not FULLY but definitely some ill-advised back alley heavy makeout sessions
Gotten tattoos: no... she's not against them but after getting involved with Fenris they feel too loaded to get casually
Gotten piercings: i think probably Isabela pierced her ears at one point, she wore earings for like a year, and then forgot to put them back in for a week and the holes closed up again
Had a broken heart: Fenris romance babyyyyyy she was a Wreck about that. previous relationships were more casual or she just got mad not sad
Been in love: i think she's had a few flings but nothing super serious until Fenris. bad at talking (or even thinking) about feelings so didn't admit she was in love at all until she was in way too deep with him
ARE THEY
A cuddler: when drunk or tired, but less hugging/clinging than more casual touch (leaning against a shoulder, head on lap, etc). Fenris' marks apparently ache with too much contact so she's learned where she can more casually touch him w/o activating that too, which i assume is pretty small areas
Scared easily: no, very much "fight" not "flight" response
Jealous easily: mmm not usually but there's a few things that get her kind of worked up. more than romantic jealousy i've written her as being annoyed/envious whenever Fenris warms up easily to a new mage (like Vivienne) because she had to work so hard for his initial approval lmao
Trustworthy: to help you with a problem? absolutely. to keep your slightly embarrassing secret? until the next time you're both drunk
FAMILY
Sibling(s): Carver and Bethany
Parents: Malcom and Leandra
Children: none at least biologically (slight spoilers for currently unpublished Fallout From the Fade material: not an option for her anymore after all the body trauma and blood magic rip). i do think Fenris would genuinely like kids so i could see them accidentally picking up a foundling/orphan sometime if their life is ever more stable
Pets: here is where i once again admit i have no memory of what i named the mabari in DA2 😭 i played it on a 2010 macbook pro that no longer has a battery so not sure i can ever check... when they fled Kirkwall they left him with Merrill (who stayed in the alienage) for a bit BUT they will reunite again when they are less on the run

humans in fantasy worlds can be so special bc they are always the most bland in comparison witj other fantasy racds but dammit they keep going anyways !!!!
okay yeah thats fair! but then i raise you this question, how do you have fun pointy ears if you play as a human :(
#jade answers#anonymous#you can't! that's the cruel part#therefore i'll never play as a human in any game unless it forces me#i've never played a human character in dai and i have almost 500 hours in that game ha#i think that's why i dislike da2 so much. bc it forces me to be a human. tbh i dislike da2 for a lot of reasons actually#i am always so shocked when people say that one is their favorite bc that game is objectively the worst one in the da series#i literally beat da2 in two days. i think my playthrough was maybe 40 hours long lmfao that is NOTHING!#my first dao gameplay took me 100 HOURS TO COMPLETE!!!!! dao has soooooo much to do in it!#da2 i hate you so much i wish you were good so bad but you're just not. UGH anyways i went on a tangent sorry i just hate that game

it's really sad, when I can't agree with most of veilguard critical, because I DON'T WANT FIGHT SLAVERY. In every game I have option to, I play as evil, crazy bitch/jerk, I slaughtered most of "good" npc groups I have option to (elves, tieflings, spirits in jade empire, a lot of people in kotors and etc), but should I start to speak about it, I'm a bad person once again
Or qunari. Why are we so against evil races in fantasy? It's fantasy! Fictional world! Why everyone must be humanized, be made "understandable", as if we talk about irl things here, not game. Idk, I really liked qunari in dao-da2, when they were evil almost alien race, but then devs decided that it's bad to have evil race.
Really, who decided that "grey world" is when you can understand everyone, not when everyone is disgusting in their own way

your favorite bioware game is jade empire? can i ask why? (not trying to be rude, i just don't see a lot of people talk about it)
short answer: if you play it, i don't need to answer this question.
long answer: it's a mix of nostalgia and the game just being really really really good. jade empire was one of the first RPGs that really sucked me in (fable 2 being the extremely notable other example), and it was also my first bioware game. it was basically my introduction to the format and genre, so it's hard for it to not have cemented itself into my psyche in that way.
on top of that it is also, and i can't stress this enough, really really really good. the world is big, beautiful, and full of memorable characters. the setting is based heavily on east asian cultures and mythology, so it stands out in a sea of "generic medieval europe-ish" fantasy settings, the aesthetics are top notch and imo still hold up even though the game is now twenty years old. the mechanics are fun to play with, even if the combat is characteristically a little clunky (my last pt, i built my character to be so OP that i was able to repeatedly stunlock the final boss and i spent the whole fight laughing). and i LOVE how they handle morality; it's not a black and white good or evil; open palm and closed fist (this game's moral philosophies) are both able to be used as justifications for harm when taken to the extreme, and i think that's more compelling than just "one option is always the good one and one option is always the bad one." i'm told it's reminiscent of the dark side/light side in KOTOR, if that helps.
and man. your followers are AWESOME. similar to DAO, you have a pretty big cast of characters who can accompany you on your journey, and they all bring something to the table. i've had a crush on sagacious zu since i was a kid, and wild flower and her whole story with chai ka is the prototype for anders & justice in da2, but done better. kang the mad, black whirlwind, and henpecked hou are all fantastic to have around. and this game also features probably the only example of the "undercover princess" trope that i actually like, because she is also amazing. and there's romances!! including bisexual romances, and sky is my bisexual boyfriend 5ever (even if! it's so hard!!! to trigger his m/m romance!!! i always fuck it up and have to reload 😭)
and the story is just. unspeakably superb. i can't talk about it because i don't want to risk spoiling it for people who haven't played, but it builds so elegantly and has THEE most iconic twist i have ever seen in a video game. there's so much depth and grief and hope and you get so so attached to your player character as you uncover their past with them, and eventually try to fulfill their destiny. this game made me feel shrimp emotions that have yet to be recaptured by basically any other game (except, once again, fable 2 play fable 2).

Favourite DA game and class?
Fuck. You can't ask me this question. Because each DA game is so uniquely different.
I guess if I really had to narrow it down, it would be DA2.
I know, I know. "How can you like the one game that is nothing but recycled maps?! And the annoying day/night toggle???"
Yes, the recycled maps and the day/night thing very much is annoying (especially when doing certain quests), but the storyline...
My fucking god the STORYLINE
Everyone knows I love an angsty story, and DA2 is one big fucking angst driven story. The fact that I can play a sarcastic Hawke in the beginning, then have them slowly become jaded after each and every painful loss. Not to mention doing the Legacy DLC after completing the 'All that Remains' chain to give Hawke a sense of closure is just...YES.
As far as what class?
I like the OP Arcane Warrior in Origins, but also like the Assassin Rogue.
In DA2 I favor the Assassin Rogue mainly because then I can have a decent lockpick (secondary reason for playing rogue in DAO)
In Inquisition I actually like playing Knight Enchanter or Rift Mage, though Archer Rogue comes in as a close second (once again because I like rogues and having a competent lockpick).
#anon ask#answered asks#dragon age#sorry if that was more than you were expecting lol#those were some loaded questions

Thess vs TLOVM S3, Ep 10
I was thinking about some more Silent Hill 2, but by the time I was ready to settle and maybe play, it felt like a bad idea. I have work tomorrow and playing until midnight is probably a surefire way to fuck up my sleep patterns entirely. So I'm going to watch more TLOVM instead. Not sure that'll be any better, but we shall see.
Ah, tiny rewind.
Yeah, our sentiments exactly, Grog.
Keyleth... I get it, I do, but what the fuck could they have done differently? Even you were doubting your own thoughts on the matter at the end. I mean, if they hadn't trusted Raishan at the beginning ... what would have happened? Apart from Raishan probably kicking their asses right then and there, I mean.
Oof. Greyskull Keep looks rough.
...And so does Scanlan.
Vax, are you eating yourself alive with guilt some more?
Oh, Vex. Not sure if Percy'd be up for that.
Heh. This is kind of what Vax thought would happen before the dragons attacked. In the campaign, I mean. Vax was all, "What's our purpose now, as a team?" and Matt was inwardly bouncing up and down squeaking, "Just wait ten more minutes..."
"I GOT BOOZE! AND NAKED LADIES! AND NAKED LADIES COVERED IN BOOZE!" I do like how they do very occasionally remember that Scanlan and Grog did the brothel circuit together. (Well, not together-together. I don't think Grog swings that way and there are some size-related logistics and... Okay. Mind. Gutter. EVICT.)
Huh. Interesting take on Scanlan's resurrection in the campaign, and why Kaylie had to be involved.
Pike ... you know Grog by now. PLEASE come back and tell him you didn't mean literally...
...There ... are ... worse things to find suddenly coming into your bedroom while you're in nothing but a towel? Maybe? Still wanna know why they didn't teleport direct to Kaylie, but ... I'm sure there's a reason.
ALLURA OMG.
Oh, Pike.
Okay, where're you off to, Kiki? Oh. Home!
Fred Tatasciore - who you? Anything I've seen? ...THAT'S Soldier 76?!? BENZO was Soldier 76?!? .........MASTER GNOST-DURAL?!? Wait - what happened to Lance Henriksen?!? He's still alive and hasn't retired, so ... wait. They got the voice actor for TANNO VIK to do MASTER GNOST-DURAL?!?!? ...Also Dr Ogurrobb and I am learning so much about one of the last MMOs I ever played seriously... *ahem* Beyond that, a lot of Star Wars in general (including Vader a few times, and Qui-Gon in Clone Wars), he's done the Hulk in a lot of things, seems to specialise in "creature vocals" ... including a lot of zombie voices in Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 ... also apparently fluent in Simlish. And some Bioware - Jade Empire and Mass Effect 2 and DA2 and... HE WAS THE FUCKING POETRY TREE?!?
Sorry, this deserves a blip all its own for all you Bioware fans out there. Saren Arterius voiced the fucking DA:O poetry tree.
Well. I did not mean to go that far down the rabbit hole. Just to say that Fred Tatasciore has been voice acting a long time - probably longer than most of you have been alive. (I'd feel really old now, but I was only like five when he started.) Now, OFF IMDB, THESS.
Heh. I feel you, Korrin. Gardens ... are a learning experience.
Korrin, you know she's gonna.
Oof. I forgot what a shithole Stilben is.
Wait, the Ashari did that?!? I forgot that.
Ooh! Hi Matt, and hi TABAXIIIIII!
Tabaxi with a pepperbox.
Nobody ever looks up.
So ... where'd Vax get the money? Did I blink and misss it?
Huh. So she's going to get the ritual from the wind?
That ... was ominous, Matt-baxi...
Ah. No, she's going to make someone listen.
She has not earned?!? Lady, you're an ass.
Ah. That's where that line in the trailer come from.
YES. LISTEN TO THE EARTH ASHARI; IT'S THEIR FUCKING RITUAL.
Lady, what is up your ass?!?
Vex. You are a ranger. You know from stalking. Patience is a huge part of a hunt. I get it, but chill the fuck out?!?
Aaaaand that's all the people who didn't make it-- yep.
Waitwut?!? Oh...
Veeeeeeex ... chiiiiill... Oh fuck no.
That looks ... strategically precarious.
Yeeeep.
Ohfuck.
KENKUUUUUU! Also OFUCK.
C'mon, Keyleth...
Cmooooooooooooon, Keyleeeeeeeeth...
Nonononononono...
Hi, Vax.
Well. If they ever do the vow renewal, this'll be a bad flashback for her...
N'awwwwww, Veeeeex...
OW OW OW...
Niiiice shot. Also, sorry, Vex.
C'moooooooon...
YES!
Whooooooooa.
Hold on to yourself, Keyleeeeeth...
She's seeing Ripley. She's seeing the twins OMG. She's too tied to Vax!
NEVER TRUST "IT LOOKS CLEAR"-- Yeah there we go.
...I. Will feed. The writer(s). BEEEEEEEES. So I must identify the writer(s). Well, Meredith I-cannot-prounce-that is staff writer, but lead writer iiiiiiiiiis ... Suzanne Keilly. And IMBD saaaaays... Warrior Nun, Ash vs the Evil Dead, and some horror stuff like Slumber Party Massacre and ... Leperchaun Returns?!? They made a sequel of fucking Leperchaun?!? Or, sorry -- another sequel of fucking Leperchaun?!?
(Side note: they're fucking rebooting Leperchaun at some point in the future?!? Gods, some things really do not need that many sequels. Leperchaun is, like, eight of them.)
Okay, I won't feed Suzanne Keilly bees. She wrote a Leperchaun sequel. She's suffered enough.
Yeah. Should've known that one episode of TLOVM was still going to fill me with adrenaline. Still, probably not as much as a first turn-around in Woodside Apartments.

3: Race and subclass?
Race: Wood elf
Subclass: It's Complicated
I actually have a full level 20 D&D character sheet for Cyrus that I made back when he was still just a Dragon Age OC. So, when porting him over to Baldur's Gate 3, I decided to keep as much of that build as possible, making Cyrus a base paladin (because being a knight is his Whole Thing) with a barbarian multiclass (because he has a lot of repressed anger and ruthlessness that become more and more evident the more and more the world wears away at his sunshine kindness, and paladin-barbarian is just a very sexy build).
His original subclasses were Oath of Devotion (again, textbook fairytale knight, this is The quintessential stereotypical paladin oath) and Path of Ancestral Guardians (one of the more support-oriented barbarian subclasses and plays with the idea of Kirkwall itself as his guardian spirits).
On the paladin side of things, I just kept him as an Oath of Devotion pally in BG3, although he did end up breaking his oath during Act 2, switching him over to the oathbreaker subclass.
However, BG3 doesn't have the Ancestral Guardians subclass, and the flavor is very specific to the DA2 version, so I decided early on that when he took his third level of barbarian, he'd be Wild Heart instead-- angling for 'bear heart' specifically because it grants immunity to almost all damage while raging, and being unkillable is an important part of Cyrus' whole deal.
And also.
I wanted him to have fire resistance (however conditional) for smooching Karlach.
And as I also had Karlach specced as a Wild Heart barbarian, it occurred to me that Cyrus' multiclassing into her class could be like. a Thing for their relationship. I wrote a little bit about it in my fic for them-- Karlach being the one to train Cyrus in how to be a barbarian, helping him find his rage & be okay with experiencing negative emotions instead of repressing them, giving him his wild heart piercings after the Ketheric boss fight...
(also in this first playthrough, Cyrus ended up romancing Halsin too, which makes the bear's heart thing that much more significant)
But the thing is. I love Cyrus and I love shipping Cyrus, and I knew very early on that I would want to play through the game again to romance at least Astarion and Wyll with him. But. I love narrative-mechanics overlap too much to repeat his paladin-barbarian build for the other runs, because that's His And Karlach's Thing, and he needs a different thing for Astarion and Wyll.
SO.
I have two other BG3 timelines for Cyrus with two other builds.
The first starts off with the same base class of paladin with Oath of Devotion as the subclass. However, after Astarion kills him while feeding from him the first time, Cyrus Comes Back Wrong and spontaneously develops an innate connection to the Shadowfell for uh... reasons that are truly beyond the scope of this already ridiculously long answer. So, in that timeline, Cyrus is an Oath of Devotion Paladin (he will still break his oath at least once when freeing the other vampire spawn, but I imagine this version of Cyrus will want to retake his oath?) with a (modded) Shadow Sorcerer multiclass.
The second involves moving Cyrus' entire timeline around so he's older, more experienced, and more jaded by the time that he gets tadpoled. He swore an oath of devotion to a tyrant who abused him and then he swore an oath of vengeance against them and their reign, and neither made him happy or let him live his life on his own terms as more than just a Title and a set of obligations.
So, this version of Cyrus lost all of his levels of paladin during the couple of decades of self-imposed exile that precede the game. In addition to some stat shuffling around, his base class switched to Ranger for the 'was living all on his own as a hermit in the woods' vibes, and also to keep him as a martial/melee character because that feels the most correct for him.
I only just got this version of Cyrus to level 3-- I specced him into the Hunter subclass originally, but I think I'm going to switch to Gloomstalker instead. There's just something thematically interesting to me about Oathbreaker-Shadow Sorc-Gloomstalker, a lot of Cyrus' character is propelled by the literal, physical internalizations and manifestations of all the bad shit that happens to him, and struggling to make peace with that and even turn those changes to his advantage.
(Also gloomstalker in BG3 gets misty step as an autoprep and I can never turn down a short-range teleport)
17: Do they enjoy life as an adventurer?
Paladin/Barbarian Cyrus: unequivocal yes! Cyrus loves nothing more than to feel useful and of service, and adventuring is the best way he knows how to be helpful.
Paladin/Sorcerer Cyrus: he says yes, but he's been in a state of perpetual existential crisis for the entirety of the game made worse by the fact that he tells himself he needs to swallow all of it down so as not to get in the way of the adventure & helping others
Ranger Cyrus: no lol he really thought he had left this life behind, and he is Too Old For This (spiritually). I think he's really thrown for a loop the first time he sits down to trance, comes to having spontaneously manifested some goodberries in his lap, and realizes he can do magic again for the first time in a couple of decades. He'll do the adventure, and he won't even complain that much, and I think as the game progresses, he'll find more to like about it, but at the moment he's quietly being a real sourpuss about the whole thing.
27: What was their life like before the events of BG3?
Kind of alluded to this in the subclass answers, but in the main timeline (which covers both pally/barb and pally/sorc), Cyrus was having a splendid time as a dashing young adventurer.
Ranger Cyrus was living by himself in a small cottage in some corner of Sword Coast wilderness, cut off from the rest of the world by choice. He was able to fend for and provide for himself just fine but was also much lonelier than he would have admitted to himself. Being around people again is a huge change-- and try as he may to keep some distance between himself and his companions, he just can't resist Wyll's smile.
#SORRY IT'S SO FUCKING LONG THE ONLY THING I LOVE MORE THAN MY BOY IS NARRATIVE-MECHANICAL OVERLAP#cyrus bg3

For the bingo thing (we can just pretend it's DA lol) I already know your opinions on most characters so heres some we never talk about:
Dagna, Nathaniel, Justice
pretty sure the person who tagged me only did da characters too so you're good!

dagna...i have been so fond of her since i met her in dao when i was young, my undiagnosed adhd ass was so in love with her. for context there was like a 10 year span after i played origins before i got back into da with inquisition, and to find her in the undercroft at skyhold just....mwah. i was so happy to see her. and she gets a gf? gay rights. i would get exploded by her any day.

honestly i've only played awakening 1.5 times and so my opinions on the amaranthine crew are still kinda vague, but i always liked nathaniel. i think his whole deal is pretty neat. he is pretty hot too.

justice was 100% wasted in da2 i totally agree with the post about him making the rounds. i liked exploring what the world was like to a spirit through him, and i felt like if they handled him better in da2 he could've been....so interesting. like can you imagine if they'd set him up in act 1 as still having some wonder for the world, only so that we could gradually watch him become jaded by the mage's plight by act 3? I think him morphing into vengeance would've been just so much more if we'd spent time with not just anders, but him, so that we could see how much he was changed, too.

1 8 and 22 for the choose violence ask game pls!
yesss, thank you for asking!!❤️❤️
this is so long and kind of scattered, i’m sorry in advance…
#1 the character everyone gets wrong;
i’m sure you all know this by now, but i do not play around when it comes to morrigan. when people say shit like oh… “morrigan’s a horrible person” “morrigan betrayed us” “morrigan is a bitch” no. stop right there, i don’t wanna hear it.
people love to say they can handle a baddie, but can’t even handle morrigan. is she mean? yes, but she’s also realistic. her ideals are shaped from being sheltered and closed off from the world since BIRTH and was verbally/emotionally ab//sed by her own mother and i think people forget that. it just makes soooo much sense why she’s so jaded. does that excuse her actions? no, not always. at some point she needs to be held accountable for her hurtful behavior and she is. she does apologize and in dai resolves her beef with leliana/alistair. her past does explain her actions is what i’m say, so i hate to see when people just chalk her up to being a “bitch” and ignore her past. cause people loooove to give other characters like solas, mister manipulator and master betrayer the pass, but we draw the line at morrigan’s little lie that was meant to save OUR WARDEN because shes “mean.” nahhhh..
this is where i think people also get her character wrong. i really don’t think she technically betrayed us, she’s more so just lied on why she was working with us. which is bad, yes. that wasn’t really her idea though, it was flemeths. morrigan was told that one day she would have to carry a dark spawn baby and when that day came (the day she joins the wardens) she genuinely didn’t want to. she told her mother that “she wasn’t ready,” but her mother made her do it anyway. then when her mother died (because morrigan asked me to kill her and i’d do it again for that queen), morrigan made the decision to still go through with the ritual, not for the power or for flemeth, but to save the warden (her friend/lover) and we then later SEE how much she loves her child. genuinely loves him. not for his power, but as a person. differentiating her from her own mother.
i find that so powerful. also, not to mention, she does change as a person. she goes from a very antisocial, cynical person to a caring and loving one. soooooo the next fucking person who chalks her up to just a “manipulative bitch,” just say you didn’t understand or talk to her character.
#8 common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about;
that dragon age 2 is a bad game, don’t even come near me with that shit…
yes, dragon age 2 has its flaws , absolutely, but it’s far from the worst. where the story lacks, the characters make up for 10 fold. this really is a long rant, so i won’t get into it, but my biggest appreciation from the game is how much the characters change for better or for worse.
i also think that anders betrayal is the best in the franchise. he lies about his true intentions to hawke and TRICKS US into helping him start a WAR??? like hello?? idk that just hurt more than solas (then again never romanced solas soooo).
da2 also challenges real world problems in the context of fantasy and i think the writing handles it relatively well. the main “villain” of da2 is corruption in power itself and we as hawke can stand on either side. do we join the side of corruption (templars) or do we fight against corruption for freedom (mages). morally, there is a correct answer here, but i LIKE that we have a choice because hey, it’s just a game, what if i want to be an asshole?? something later dragon age games decide to get rid of because it’s apparently immoral to want to play as a bad guy in a fucking video game….
#22 your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores;
that isabela actually does become a better person by the end of da2 so her drastic change in datv actually isn’t so drastic. i’ve seen people be like “wtf why is isabela the leader of the lords of fortune, returning qunari artifacts when she was the reason for their take over of kirkwall in act 2 when she stole the tome of koslun for her own selfish interest?” could it be that, prehaps, idk, she felt bad about that and realized her mistake almost got hawke (her bestie/lover) killed and she vowed to be a better person somewhere in the middle of act 3??
love my girl isabela❤️💙

Hawke and Ataashi!
Thank you! For the "which of my traits did I pass on to my OC's" game:
Hawke: POOR HAWKE she gets this the worst out of all my characters ever i think. a lot of the traits i foisted upon her are from my own experiences but like dialed up to 11/how i feel them in my head vs how i respond in real life. she's cathartic for me that way.
chronic depression interspersed w/ shorter periods of manic behavior
recklessness/adrenaline seeking
impulsiveness
inability to talk about her feelings
hair-trigger Fight response (vs flight/freeze/fawn)
addictive personality/tendencies
oh god there's got to be a non negative one in here somewhere
OH ADORATION OF DRAGONS. obviously
empathetic (sometimes to a fault--Your problems are now My problems etc)
i think, at the time i made her, her willingness to stay friends with people no matter how much they disagreed/argued Was a trait i had back then. but is no longer/i have become much more ruthless at removing people from my life if they cross certain lines.
Ataashi: I'm replaying her for the first time since 2015 so i am interested to see if I change her much, but according to her original characterization:
desire to take charge/be in command when she sees no one else is Doing It Right
jumps right to trying to solve a problem rather than offering comfort/being a silent listening ear
assertive/direct
pragmatic
#tumblr games#ramblings#ohmypawsandwhiskers#at some point i really was like i Cannot give hawke more of my problems its Too Much lmao#actually i think i am More like Ataashi now than when i made her though The Seeds Were All There#though she is more ruthless than i am. in the marco-animorphs definition of Ruthless as the bright clear line from problem to solution#my characters#jade hawke#ataashi adaar#jade plays da2#jade plays dai

So my Dragon Age perspective has always been different world state, different romance, and there’s a thread/commonality that connects every game into the world state. With DAVG in progress, I’m still workshopping.
World state 1: DWARVES and mage rights: because I do so love Orzammar and I am most comfy playing dwarves who don’t understand these humans with their “fade” and templar doofuses. Technically, my canon world state.
DAO: My (first) Warden was a Brosca warrior girl that was jaded until she sees how good life is topside. How good people are topside. She still believes she doesn’t deserve Alistair and horrifies Alistair by trying to set up a marriage between her and Anora. Alistair convinces her otherwise. Absolutely had a threesome with he and Morrigan to make sure they both made it out alive.
DA2: Rogue female Hawke is stupid in love and misses aaaaallllllllll the red flags around Anders. She spares his life and asks him to help the mages but refuses to run away with him. 10/10, disaster!Hawke wishes she could have had better taste in men (or torn Varric away from Bianca).
DAI: Warrior dwarf girl misses red flags around fake Warden Blackwall. It’s okay, because she’s killed so many more people than he has just being in the Carta she believes in redemption and the chance to do better. She gives him something to hope for. He makes her wood carvings of horses. When they settle in Ferelden, they plant carnations by the garden gate. Let them have their eggs! Sacrificing Hawke kills me but I can’t not. Varric is hurt but Alistair sees his love again goddammit.
So, fair to say I’ll be playing a dwarf but I have literally no idea who I’m romancing. Giving it some thought, I might try Emmeric? We’ll see 😭

Here to give you another update on my Origins playthru because things are constantly happening in it it feels like:
Finished the Broken Circle and the Fade all in one go. Playing that quest as a blood mage was A Lot and I will be thinking about it forever quite frankly
Finally got Alistair to a point where he and my Warden Emyr are friends again so I like to think post circle they had some drinks together and talked their shit out finally. Feels good to see Alistair not being so hostile anymore
I as the player absolutely go ham on gift giving mechanics in games like this because I find it fun to do. This unfortunately however resulted in both Morrigan and Zevran's approval being so high that Zevran had to ask Emyr to break up with Morrigan if they wanted to keep being a thing which was EXTREMELY funny to me considering A. Zevran and Emyr had already slept together by that point and B. Emyr had turned down Morrigan on that same offer. Felt really really bad to turn her down considering I do plan on romancing her later. This guys love life is a mess and it's very funny as a player to watch it happen ~
WOOO HELL YEAH you've made so much progress!!! broken circle as a blood mage is absolutely insane, you're right. i actually have this whole concept about my blood mage warden as a companion who you recruit during broken circle bc that whole situation is insane.
the gift-giving is one of the things i miss the most from origins. i get why they changed it to the "special gifts only" model that DA2 and DAV use, since it absolutely was a way to spam approval in origins, but there's something so charming about how the warden so frequently goes "hey my friend would like this!" and then they DO!!!
also dhdhdh the stealth romances... bioware has had a problem with this for ages (fixed now by romance icons on flirt options). my favourite bioware stealth romance is in jade empire, when my gay ass is trying to fuck sky and then all of a sudden two women are like "you've been leading us on and you need to pick one of us" and inevitably im like "im so sorry. i was just trying to be nice." and then you have to reload like 6 hours of gameplay because getting that scene means you fucked up and locked yourself out of sky's romance. good times.
#kiefer i seriously love these updates keep em coming#LET ME KNOW HOW ORZAMMAR GOES!!! a paragon of her kind is one of my fave quests in the series#and i have a tattoo from it!!!#answered

I’m replaying DA: Awakening and it’s fun and DA:O is such a good game---not on the same level as KotOR storywise, but still very enjoyable---and I wish the other Dragon Age games weren’t so completely not my thing
#but also I'm kinda grateful because the last thing in the world I want to be is someone who cares about Dragon Age#(I'm kidding I'm just still jaded from all the stupid discourse I remember from 2012 long before I even played the games)#I tried to get into DA2 but I hated the combat and hated the dialogue wheel even more#if I can't control exactly what my character is saying then what's the point of it being an rpg!!!#I'm just too much of a control freak for that nonsense which is why I also refuse to ever play Mass Effect#anyway when will there be good rpgs besides KotOR and D:AO and F:NV#Ranger's gaming adventures

I think it's actually genius when Dad would name his Lavellan after our (now passed) cat, because it means it's a cat and a wolf Solasmance
#and thankfully the solasmance has no s*x scenes#he was playing DA2 and was like why is there... why is there that in this#and I was like Dad I'm sorry. let's never talk about this ever ever ever again#Jade Empire didn't have s*x scenes and he went from JE -> DA2
