“Your brother is a lot taller than I remember him being Chaeyoung.”
You briefly glanced over to the side once you heard Lily’s voice start to whisper, seeing her leaning into the other girls side as she tried to be as discreet as possible.
Both of them were staring out at something in the yard and you followed their gaze until you landed on Jake standing in the corner, picking up something off of the snack table and looking as bored as you felt at this ridiculous party.
“If you hook up with my little brother I’ll actually kill you.” Chaeyoung’s voice was flat and deadly serious but her face didn’t show any actual signs of caring about the conversation, rolling her eyes and taking a sip of her drink before looking away and letting Lily lay on her shoulder.
Your eyebrow raised slightly at the interaction before your gaze was floating back over to the boy instinctively.
He hadn’t been home from the dance school in Australia long and this was only your second time seeing him since. You’d grown up together but you’d never paid him much mind outside of when Chaeyoung gave him funny makeovers and made him dance to girl group songs with you and your friends. Other than that he wasn’t necessarily somebody on your radar.
It was impossible to not notice the difference in him now.
Mainly the fact he was almost double the size he had been when he left, clearly hitting puberty now and apparently the gym considering how large his shoulders looked underneath the washed out black hoodie he was wearing.
He’d obviously gotten a new sense of style in his time away too and it was one that you were almost annoyingly attracted to. His hair was longer and stuck in his face most the time, earbuds peaking out from behind the dark strands whenever he pushed it back with his large hand and you could’ve sworn you’d posted the shoes he was currently wearing on your Instagram story a few months ago.
You watched him as he started to make his way back inside, completely ignoring the party going on around him and not even sparing a glance at the people in his backyard and living room.
When he was younger, he always wanted to be involved, especially when it had to do with Chaeyoung and your friends. You remember seeing her send him back up to his room dozens of times when he tried to hang out with you guys, always greeting you and the others enthusiastically.
A frown was forming on your face at his indifferent attitude before you were glancing back at your friends, glad to see they were lost in their own conversation and not noticing the way your eyes had been locked on your bestfriends little brother for the better part of the last ten minutes.
They were so distracted that they also didn’t notice the way you were scooting off of the outdoor bench, adjusting your skirt and balancing yourself slightly before you were heading inside and following the path you’d seen the younger boy taking. You were a bit thrown off when you entered the house again, the atmosphere a lot more intense and dizzying than the outside partygoers had been.
But you knew Jake wouldn’t have stuck around this type of environment long so you pushed your way through the crowd and continued on your way upstairs to where you knew he’d be, raising your fist and knocking on his door before you thought twice about it.
You froze up slightly at the speed in which he swung open his bedroom door, a heavy glare set on his face and you could hear music coming from deeper in the room, having seemingly abandoned his headphones. His eyes widened for just a second when he realized it was you in the hallway before he was forcing on an expression of indifference.
“Y/N? Whats up?” He was asking but his tone was lazy like he didn’t care, luckily you knew better and could clearly read the curiosity in his eyes.
You ignored his question and pushed into the room, taking a deep breath once inside before turning towards him with a raised eyebrow. He was sighing and closing the door behind you, leaning against it for a second once he realized what your expression was directed towards.
“You smoke?” You were finally speaking and he tensed at the sound of your voice, looking way more intimidating with the way he was lazily leaned against his door and accidentally trapping you inside the room. You took a seat on his bed and watched him curiously, waiting for an answer.
You didn’t necessarily need one considering you were now noticing how lazy his eyes were, gaze low and hazy as he stared at you sitting on his bed and the corner of his lips turned up into a half smirk at your stern voice and scolding demeanor.
“You gonna tell on me Y/N?” His tone was teasing now and you kept watching him as he pushed off the door, crossing the room until he was flopping back into his bed.
Luckily he kept some distance between the two of you, sitting up so his back was propped up on his headboard and his knee was pointed towards the ceiling. You were still sitting on the edge of his bed but you turned your body so you could face him better, adjusting your skirt with the movement. You took one final glance towards the door, eyes falling down to the turned lock on the knob.
“I’m sure I could be convinced to not tell.” You were responding to him slowly, keeping your voice light so he knew you weren’t serious. His eyes darkened a touch but you continued on with your light teasing. “Maybe if you were open to sharing.”
You weren’t exactly sure how you ended up in Jake Sim’s bedroom smoking weed with him, sitting fully on his bed now with your legs crossed underneath you and grazing fingers every time he passed the bowl over in your direction.
You kept picturing Chaeyoung walking into the room, seeing the way you were looking at him every time he was breathing smoke outwards into the air. You wondered if she’d care, wondered if she’d realize where your mind had gone and then you’d shift on the bed and feel the tension in the room and know there was no way she wouldn’t suffocate in it.
He was watching you now in a way that you knew was past the line of friendly, miles past the line of being your bestfriends younger brother, and for the first time since entering his room you got nervous. So nervous that you inhaled wrong and the smoke traveled to a tighter part of your chest, sending you lurching forward in a rough cough as you patted your torso a couple times to try and clear your airways.
Jake was chuckling at your amateurish smoking skills and you sent him a glare as another cough ripped through you, moving your hand to send a soft punch towards his knee for his teasing.
“Wanna know a better way to get the smoke down?” His voice was low, lower than it already was and you remember being frozen the first time you heard him speak when he originally got back, deep and silky as he muttered a halfhearted greeting in your direction.
You gave him a curious look even though you already had an idea of where this was heading, wondering how far he was planning to take this. You only responded with a soft nod now that your coughs had died down and left your throat with a burning sensation, worsening when a gasp ripped through you at the feeling of him wrapping his hands underneath your knees and tugging you closer on the bed.
He moved you completely effortlessly and your eyes were wide and panicked, still sitting with your legs crossed but now you were directly in front of him and your knees were bumping into one of his, his other leg stretch out along your side and effectively forming a cage around you.
“Don’t do anything stupid.” Your warning was coming out far less stern than you’d hoped it would, voice weak and almost teasing again despite how serious you were.
His eyebrow cocked at this and you immediately knew it was the wrong thing to say considering the challenging glint forming in his eye now. He was swaying forward so his face was close to yours, way too close considering you felt his nose graze you for just a second before he was pulling back so he could stare down at your tense features.
“Keep your mouth open.” He was speaking suddenly and you could feel his breath on your lips, his tone light but commanding enough that for some reason you were immediately nodding your head and parting your lips for him.
He wasn’t wasting any time, sitting up enough so he could light the bowl once more and inhale it deep, holding it there in his chest easily for a few seconds before he was leaning forward and pressing his lips against yours. It wasn’t a kiss but it was enough for your eyes to flutter closed, leaning forward to press tighter against him but still not enough to feel his mouth completely on yours.
It was completely sensual, the way he was breathing out the smoke into your mouth from his own, almost suffocating as you inhaled a shaky breath softly and swayed further against him to try to avoid letting it escape.
“Breathe it in.” He was directing you again now that the smoke was out of his mouth and inside yours, not bothering to lean back and give you space as he started to speak and you could feel his lip brushing against yours for just a second. “C‘mon hold it for me. You can take it deeper than that.”
Your eyes were widening in surprise at his suggestive words, letting the smoke out before you were planning to and sitting up straight to try and put some distance between the two of you. He didn’t seem bothered at all by your reaction and for a second you wondered if you had just misheard him, let your own guilty thoughts and insecurities take his words to mean something besides smoking.
It didn’t help that your stomach was flipping with want now, face reddening and getting warmer as you replayed what he had said in your mind.
“Do it again.” You were requesting it in a whisper and you weren’t exactly sure what you were asking for, judging yourself for secretly hoping he’d repeat his innuendo laced words so you could hear it in his voice again. Instead he was grabbing the bowl and placing it between the two of you, lighting it again and inhaling.
You didn’t have too much time to be disappointed considering he was immediately lowering it and connecting your lips again, not even giving you time to open your mouth to collect the smoke.
He seemed to take matters into his own hands and you felt his tongue pressing against your sealed lips, prying them open so he could tilt his head and funnel the smoke into your throat. For a second you were chasing after his tongue with your own, nearly kissing him fully in a deeper lust fueled high, but he was cupping your jaw briefly and closing your mouth so you were forced to breathe in the smoke.
It was settling deep in your chest and this time you held it for him, looking up at him slightly through your eyelashes with watery eyes and he had a more satisfied expression on his face now that you were listening to him.
“Good girl.” He was humming out the word casually but your mouth parted in surprise, legs instinctively clenching together as you let the smoke filter back out and hit his face instead. The smirk on his face told you that he had definitely noticed your reaction and you were starting to lose all feelings of guilt and hesitation, being replaced with something much more terrible.
Something so intense that you couldn’t stop yourself from rocking forward and pressing your lips against his fully.
He thankfully was immediately reciprocating and you tried not to think about where he learned to kiss this intensely, hands coming up to cup your face and keep you locked against him as you moved together. You’d rocked forward so far that you nearly knocked him over back against the bed, leaning over his lap now as you desperately kissed him deeper and deeper.
It took for his hand sliding down your back, attempting to pull you fully onto his awaiting lap, for you to snap out of it and sit up straight with a small gasp.
Your hand was reaching up to touch your lips and you tried to ignore the fact they were wet from his mouth, looking at him and scanning from his confused eyes down to his own swollen lips that most likely mirrored the state of your own. Your body was lit up with need and it didn’t help that he was still touching you, hand resting on your lower back like he was waiting for you to kiss him again.
“We can’t do this.” You were telling him sternly in a panicked voice, shaking your head desperately to try and make sure he understood and that your point was getting across to him.
His hand was sliding down lower and roughly squeezing, resting on the curve of your ass and sending your hips forward and more onto his. A soft gasp was slipping from your mouth, followed by a breathy whine at the feeling of him hardening and pressing against your front, even more unbearable considering he wasn’t moving his hand and was instead softly groping your behind and rocking you against him.
“But we’re going to.” He was responding to your rejection in a casual tone, sounding more confident than he was pushy and you let out another soft whine as you gave him a bewildered look. “You followed me up here, you came into my room in this tiny little skirt and climbed into my bed because you wanted me to fuck you.”
You were instinctively shaking your head in panicked denial but your hands were going to his shoulders, pulling yourself forward onto his lap fully and mewling softly at the feeling of him completely pressing against you.
He didn’t say anything else as you started to desperately move against him, your head falling forward and landing in the crook of his neck as you lifted yourself up and down slowly so you could feel him under you at every possible angle. His large hands were holding you roughly and lifting you every time you struggled, pushing your skirt up further on your hips so he could feel your bare skin and lace panties.
“Fuck fuck.” You were panting out into his neck and arching your back into him, a shiver rolling down your spine when he was harshly tugging at your underwear so it was pressed painfully against your sensitive clit.
“God, do you always get this wet?” He was finally started to sound affected and you let out an embarrassed sob at his words, hand sliding up the back of his neck until it was tangled in his long hair. You imagined you were already a mess considering how desperate you were feeling, an overwhelming heat mixing with your high and stopping you from thinking about anything other than Jake.
“Let me fuck you baby, let daddy fix this.” He was talking so sweetly in your ear in his low voice.
You were shaking your head again but you already knew your resolve was falling apart, feeling nearly inhuman with how much you longed to be full of something, especially if it was him. You were aching in your panties and the forbidden image of your best friends little brother stuffing you and making the ache go away was nearly making you drool.
“How old are you Jae?” You were gasping out and lifting your head out of his neck to look at his face clearly, fearing his response and knowing you had a right to the fear considering for the first time his eyes flashed with guilt and worry. You were quickly doing the math in your head and gasping again, sitting up even more and stopping your rocking against him. “Oh my god you’re barely legal.”
He suddenly looked really annoyed and you felt bad for getting this far with him, knowing you had no choice but to stop what you were doing and reject the boy before anything more happened.
Messing around with your best friends brother was one thing but doing it while he was just barely an official adult was too much for your conscience, even if you weren’t that much older than him.
He seemed to have a totally different idea than you considering he was scoffing in annoyance before he was pausing and then flipping you completely over, ripping a shriek from you as your back unexpectedly hit the bed and he was left hovering over you. You froze up in shock as he impatiently undid the buttons on your skirt that was still pushed up on your waist, tugging it down and tossing it somewhere across the room.
“Don’t act like you care about how old I am.” He was barely looking at you as he spoke with anger lacing his voice, looking at your nearly bare bottom half for a few seconds before he was glancing up at you to check for your reaction. “Let me eat your pussy.”
You were letting out a loud laugh of disbelief, lacking any humor as you clamped your thighs shut and shook your head. “I mean it Jake, we can’t do this. It’s wrong.”
His large hands were squeezing your ankles for a second before sliding up your legs softly, your breath getting shakier as he reached your knees and slowly separated your legs. You both could tell you weren’t actually showing any attempt to stop him, not even putting up a fight as he lowered his face closer to your core and you could feel his breath over the wet spot covering your panties.
“It’s wrong that you want my tongue so bad your thighs are soaked.” He was talking in between the kisses he was laying on your skin, getting closer and closer to the thin fabric separating you and the point of no return. “Would be wrong to let you leave my room without my cum in your stomach.”
“Please, you need to stop.” You were breathing it out in a moan once he finally was placing a kiss over your covered core, softly running his tongue along your wetness and humming softly. The vibrations went straight to your clit and your hips rolled off the bed, pushing his face straight against you. “Oh fuck.”
He let out something that sounded almost like a growl before he was pushing your panties to the side and diving into your wet folds, wasting no time in sticking his tongue as deep as he possibly could get it and ignoring the way you nearly screamed and tried to close your legs around his head. He used his free hand to aggressively slam your knee back against the bed, opening you up completely for him and practically making out with your cunt.
It was completely lewd and disgusting, the wet noises filling the room as he ate you out with a level of expertise that almost made your stomach turn with curiosity if it wasn’t for how good he was making you feel.
Your hand was going to his hair to pull him out of your core but plans changed when he was sucking your clit into his mouth softly, instead keeping him locked in place with his long strands between your fingers. He abandoned your sensitive bud to go back to trying to stick his tongue as deep inside you as he could, turning his head so he was pushing into your tight hole and he moaned against you, the vibration nearly pulling another scream from you.
“Please Jake, oh my god please.” You almost thought you were begging for him to stop but you both knew you weren’t, lifting your hips up every time he tried to take a breath in an attempt to keep him buried in your cunt as long as possible.
“Wanna cum on my tongue or my cock baby?” He was lifting his head up to question you and you were thrown off by how easily it rolled off his tongue, how confident he seemed to be in being able to fuck you properly and make you cum with no question. You rarely came from hookups and definitely left unsatisfied more often than not but something about the glare in his eyes made you believe him.
You were apparently taking too long to answer considering he was climbing back on top of you and adjusting you slightly, moving your body like it weighed nothing.
“Don’t know how long I’ve wanted you like this Y/N. Going to show you what a real man feels like inside this slutty little hole.” He was reaching down and rubbing his fingers against you for emphasis, smirking when you let out a shaky breath and your stomach clenched. “Beg for daddy to fuck you baby, let everyone hear how much you want me.”
You were shaking your head and letting out an actual sob now, tears heavy as they rolled down your face and landed on the bed underneath you. He looked completely unaffected by your emotional reaction to the humiliation and pure want you felt for him.
It didn’t matter what he said now and it didn’t matter even if his sister walked into the room and saw him on top of you like this, you’d realized from the second you entered the room that you’d let him do anything to you that he wanted and that fact drove you absolutely insane with guilt and embarrassment. He seemed to know it as much as you did considering he was silent and patient as he waited for you to get ahold of yourself, knowing you’d end up begging for him regardless.
“Please Jake I need you so bad, need you to fuck me baby please.” You were pleading with him through a sob, grabbing onto his shoulders and trying to lift your hips to meet his and show him how desperate you were.
His eyes darkened the more you spoke and for the first time since entering his room you felt genuinely anxious, letting out a cry as he swiftly moved his hand up so it was pressing on your throat and restricting your breathing. Your eyes widened at his sudden aggression even though you were beginning to understand your mistake.
“Say it again and say it right or I’ll throw you out of my room with nothing but your dripping cunt.” He was leaning down to spit the words into your ear and you let out an embarrassing whine, another rush of heat running through you. “You like that huh… like when I get rough with you?”
You were nodding the best you could with his hand around your throat, the sting of the pressure making more wetness rush out of you as complete desperation took over your mind and left you feeling dizzy and out of it. Out of it enough that your tongue was hanging out of your mouth before you realized it, mouth opening as you stared up at him with watering eyes and heavy eyelashes.
He let off some of the tension around your throat just enough for you to be able to speak in a weak voice.
“Please daddy please give me your spit, I’ll be a good girl I promise.” You were practically sobbing as you begged him and his eyes were basically darkened to pitch black at this point, staring down at you with a hunger you’d never experienced from someone before. “Can do whatever you want to me, I’ll take it.”
Jake aggressively gripped your jaw and tugged your head closer towards his, waiting until you were eagerly sticking your tongue back out for him so he could spit roughly into your mouth. Before you got a chance to swallow it he was chasing after his spit with his own tongue, licking against yours until he was practically in your throat. You hummed softly and bobbed your head so he was even deeper, wanting him inside you in every way humanly possible.
“God you’ve gotta let me fuck you now or I’m going to hurt you.” He was pulling back to speak through gritted teeth, nearly looking pained as he was roughly sitting you up and tugging off the sweater you’d been wearing, leaving you completely bare outside of your panties that were beyond stretched from the way he was holding them.
“Hurt me.” You were begging him for it before you even processed that you wanted it, the imagine of him holding you down and shoving himself so deep inside you that you couldn’t handle the stretch making your stomach tighten with want. “Please Jake hurt me.”
“Don’t even know what you’re fucking begging for, you’re such a slut you don’t even care how I fuck you.” He sounded so angry but you knew he was just as affected as you, tugging you up and back into his lap so you were straddling him again. He sucked one of your nipples into his mouth for just a second before he was letting it go to speak again. “Wanna drag you down to that packed living room and take you in front for everyone there, let everyone watch me stuff you so deep your stomachs bulging.”
You were dizzy now, almost worried you were going to pass out from how overwhelmed you were and he’d barely even touched you so far.
You were desperately rolling your hips into his again and he was surprisingly letting you, guiding you as you bounced in his lap and practically rode him despite the fact he was still fully clothed. The image of you, bouncing on his hard on while practically naked and dripping down your thighs compared to him being fully dressed and composed made you feel even dizzier and you found yourself longing for what he was describing.
“Gonna make me feel so full daddy please, I’m sorry.” You could feel his hardness pressing against you every time you bounced and you were so turned on you couldn’t even find the time to be embarrassed you were probably soaking the fabric of his pants, the time to be humiliated you were calling a boy younger than you daddy.
“Should be fucking sorry.” He was growling out the words again and flipping you over easily so your stomach was on the bed instead, lifting you up by your hips so your ass was perfectly presented for him.
He didn’t hesitate before he was sending a sharp smack to your bare skin, immediately ripping a pained yelp from you that faded off into a desperate whine. You were adjusting yourself so you were pushing your ass towards him more and silently communicating you wanted him to hit you again, sobbing into his bed and pressing your face into the blanket to try to muffle the sounds of your cries.
Thankfully, he was understanding and roughly hitting you again. You knew he wasn’t using his full strength considering how strong he was but he definitely wasn’t going easy on you and you could feel yourself leaking even more at the pain.
“Tell me you’re sorry for never looking my way when I was a kid.” His words were barely being processed by you since you were so dizzy but you cried harder at the sound of his deep voice commanding you. “Sorry for being such a fucking slut but never giving me the chance to fill this pussy up.”
“Only want you to fill me please.” You were being immeasurably too loud but you didn’t even slightly care, completely serious in your desires for him to be inside you no matter who was watching. “M so sorry Jae please, please.”
You could hear the sound of his belt coming undone behind you and you nearly cried with relief, adjusting even more so you were completely presenting your ass and core to him. You wanted him to see how much you belonged to him so he’d have no choice but to fuck you.
He must’ve finished undressing his lower half because you could feel him pressing against you and your back arched at the realization his skin was pressing against yours, a loud whine sounding through the room when you felt his bare cock rubbing against your folds and thighs experimentally. You pushed against him harder and he reached up to squeeze the fat around your hips roughly in annoyance, a silent warning as he groaned softly.
“Gonna stuff you now and you’re going to lay here and take it.” He was grunting as he spoke and you sucked in a sharp breath when the head of his cock caught on your hole, pushing in just enough for you to realize he was a lot thicker than you’d prepared for. “Fuck you’re so tight, I’m going to end up in your stomach.”
You arched at his words and whined into his blankets, pushing your hips back against his so he was going deeper inside you. The stretch was knocking the air out of your chest but you nearly cried with how full he was going to make you feel.
“Please daddy please, I’ll be such a good girl for you I promise.” You were pathetically pleading with him and you knew for a fact that if anybody had drunkenly wondered upstairs they could definitely hear you, but you didn’t care about anything other than him in this moment and he was driving you crazy with how slow he was pushing into you.
He was finally losing his control and fucking himself deep inside of you in one go, bottoming out as you both took deep breaths and tried not to lose it before you’d even started.
The sound of him groaning above you was making you even more needy and you were overwhelmed with how much you wanted to keep hearing him make sounds like that, instinctively clenching around his length and feeling the way he was throbbing deep inside you.
You were basically sobbing with pleasure just from his first stroke into you when he pulled out completely, your body reacting intensely to the emptiness as you immediately looked over your shoulder and prepared to beg for him to fuck you again, stopping mid sentence when he was turning you back over on your back so you were able to see him again.
He was slamming himself back into you before you even adjusted to the position and he felt ten times deeper now, a pained grunt falling from your lips as he started to finally actually fuck you.
“Fuck you’re so fucking tight Y/N. I thought you were a whore but you feel brand new for me baby.” His facial expression as he spoke through gritted teeth and continued to thrust into you made you dizzy and you desperately reached out to hold his arms to try and ground yourself.
“Just for y-you Jake, only wanna be this full with you.” You were practically delirious as you cried and spoke to him but your words seemed to turn him on more considering he was slamming into you harder, clearly enjoying the level of ownership you were voicing towards him.
You didn’t want to internalize any of the things he said about you not paying attention to him before, knowing if you stopped and considered what he was implying you’d not be able to go through with this.
He was skilled at distracting you considering he was reaching forward to aggressively grab at your wrist, placing your hand against your stomach and pressing down so harshly you grunted in upset as your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. The lack of understanding didn’t last long considering it took only two more rolls of his hips inside you for you to feel what he was intending, your stomach bulging slightly from his size forcing itself deeper.
“Feel that?” He was rasping and you looked up to meet his gaze for the first time since he entered you, taken back by how dark and deadly his eyes were. “You’re mine now.”
You were nodding quickly in confirmation, not because you agreed with what he was saying necessarily but because of the wave of fear you felt seeing how serious and cold his expression was.
He had managed to already get you shockingly close between the foreplay and rough manhandling and it wasn’t long before you were feeling the familiar tightness in your stomach, only worsening when he was leaning down and catching your mouth in the sloppiest kiss of the night. It was bordering painful and filthy, exactly what you needed to distract you from how wrong this was and exactly what you needed to have you finishing around his length with a sharp inhale into his mouth.
You wrapped your arms around his neck to keep him kissing you even after you’d came, letting him know it was okay to keep fucking himself deeper inside you.
It was just enough to help you forget everything outside of the feeling of him on top of you and you felt drunk with how much you wanted to stay in this moment. You were terrified by how much he seemed worth the consequences when you had him like this, how much you wanted him even when the door was swinging open and a loud shriek was coming from the hallway.

FINGERTIPS . . . sjy
( 🍺 ) warnings! getting drunk?? erm idk
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
'c'mon, just one more drink. please?' jake begged, pushing his empty glass towards you. in turn, you sighed, staring at him from behind the counter. but you had expected that he would've acted like this, especially since he'd spotted you.
'jake, i can't. i'm going to get fired if i give you anymore,' you said, pulling away the empty glass from his reach.
'then a kiss, at least,' he drunkenly beseeched, his fingers stretching to your face, in an attempt to brush and tuck the stray hairs behind your ears. however, you slightly moved, just before he could touch you.
'why are you running away?'
'company policy. bartenders aren't allowed to be in physical contact with customers during work hours.'
'it won't cost you anything, y'know,' he pouted, and you shook your head. 'it'll cost me my job,' you said, inching away from him.
'what about my fingers? can't i touch you with my fingers?'
'jake. go home.'
'just the fingertips. i promise, nothing more.'
you gave in (albeit exasperatedly), turning to face him. his slim fingers reached out to your face, and his knuckles gently brushed against your lips. you watched, as a little color stained his knuckles.
'my lipstick's on your fingers.'
'i know,' he smiled. he pressed his lips against his knuckles, right where the color was, effectively leaving a light mark of the rouge on them.
'does it look good on me?' he asked, with his cheeks as red as the stained color of your lipstick. you wondered if they were red because he was hopelessly drunk, or because he was shy. before you could answer, however, his head lolled on the counter, and he was out.

masterlist
Tumblr media
Save for himself, Jake Sim was not used to seeing anyone use the skatepark at four in the morning.
It was like an unspoken rule: early evenings were reserved for kids and middle-schoolers, late evenings for teenagers, nights for smokers and stoners, and the time right before the crack of dawn for him.
Jake didn’t like skating in front of people. He liked it when he had the entire place to himself. He liked it when amateurs didn’t ask to be taught by him. He liked it when he wasn’t requested to perform stunts on his skateboard.
He liked it when he was left alone.
Which was why the sight of you trying to balance yourself on your board in his safe space ticked him off.
Jake knew he wasn’t being fair. The skatepark was public property, and anyone who wanted to use it could do so without being answerable to him. He couldn’t just tell you to leave. It wasn’t your problem he wanted to skate in solitude.
Jake contemplated skipping for one night and going back home. Surely, you wouldn’t be here tomorrow as well. Based on how you handled yourself, it looked like you had never skated before.
Heck, you couldn’t even get on without having to clutch on to the safety railings. This was probably just a one-time thing, and Jake hoped you’d realise skating was not for you, give up and never return again. At least not when he came to the park.
Right as he was about to leave, your gaze met his and you lost control of the skateboard. It slipped from under your feet, and you landed on your backside with a sharp hiss.
Excruciating pain shot up your ankle as you tried to pull yourself up again, tears springing from the corners of your eyes.
Jake watched you struggle warily. A voice at the back of his mind urged him to help you out, but he silenced it. He wasn’t an asshole on a regular basis, but he was still pissed you were occupying the skate park.
“Fuck,” you breathed, biting down on your lip to stop a whimper from escaping. You limped to where your skateboard had rolled and picked it up. Approaching Jake, you said to him with your gaze trained on the ground, “You can skate if you want. I was going to leave anyway.”
He raised an eyebrow, not having expected you to leave immediately. Maybe his expression had been colder than he had thought it was. Or maybe you were just unwilling to skate while he was present—you did embarrass yourself in front of him after all.
You made to move past Jake when he caught sight of your scratched arms. His eyes moved to your ankle immediately, assessing it.
“Hey,” he called, causing you to stop in your tracks. “How are you going home?”
You hesitated. Gulped. Looked around. Then answered, “My brother’s going to pick me up.”
Jake didn’t need to be a genius to know you had lied. But he understood. It was the dead of the night, and no one was around except a strange boy who was asking you weird questions. Obviously, you were on your guard.
“Your ankle’s sprained. I can tell from the way you’re limping.” He had no idea why he was still speaking to you instead of just saying okay and moving on. Maybe it was the guilt blossoming in him for being the reason behind your pain that made him offer, “There’s a 24/7 open supermarket around the corner. You should ice the injury before it swells. I can help if you want.”
“Oh.”
A beat of silence passed. Then two. Jake opened his mouth. “Or not,” he said and chuckled awkwardly. This was exactly why he never bothered to engage with people. “Sorry if I made you uncomfortable—”
“I think I’d appreciate your assistance,” you interrupted and gave him a tight-lipped yet grateful smile.
Jake blinked. He hadn’t expected you to take him up on his offer.
“Sure,” he said. “My car’s parked right here. We can walk too, if you’d prefer that,” he added upon watching your expression turn cautious.
“I’d rather walk,” you admitted. “It doesn’t hurt a lot and the distance is not much so I think I can manage.”
“Oh, yeah, definitely,” Jake agreed without missing a beat. “Yeah. I’ll just—just hold on to your skateboard for you.”
God, this was so awkward. Jake was starting to regret ever offering to help you out. You clearly didn’t trust him, and he didn’t know how to convince you he had no ill intentions.
“I’m Jake, by the way,” he said in an attempt to make conversation. “Are you from around here?”
You nodded, hissing a little as you walked beside him. “Yeah. I’m Y/N. I go to Grapevine High.”
“Grapevine?” Jake laughed, fisting his free hand at his side to keep it from snaking around your waist for support. He didn’t want to touch you without your consent—even though it was just to help. “That’s crazy. I go to Blue Valley High.”
You gasped. “No way! You guys are such cheaters! The Championship Cup is rightfully ours.”
“Sore losers call winners cheaters,” he teased.
“You should be lucky I have a sprained ankle, or you’d be eating the ground right now.”
“You should be lucky Choi Yeonjun is graduating, or your school would be making a complete fool out of itself next year too.”
You snorted. “Everyone knows your team paid the—Fuck!”
Jake grabbed your arm the moment you lost your balance and pulled you towards him. You clutched his hoodie for support, involuntarily tugging him towards you as well. Jake almost tripped over his feet too but held his ground.
“Do you need my help walking the rest of the way?” he asked, concern evident in his tone.
Biting your lip in contemplation, you tried putting weight on your sprained ankle. You could feel the pain in your bones, so you glanced at Jake, your faces but a few inches away, and mumbled, “I’m sorry for being a bother.”
Jake shook his head and wrapped an arm around your waist so he could assist you better. “Don’t apologise. I wouldn’t have offered to help if I thought of you as a bother.”
The smile you gave him was a mixture of both grateful and relieved, and Jake couldn’t help the slight increase in the pace of his heart. Answering your unspoken gratitude with a reassuring upward curl of his lips, he waited for you to move your arm and sling it around his neck.
“Do you always come to skate at the park?” Jake asked as the two of you slowly continued to the supermarket. “I’ve never seen you before.”
You shook your head. “No. It’s a new hobby I’m trying to pick up.”
“I can teach you if you want.” The words were out of Jake’s mouth before he could think of a reply. He paused for a second, waiting for the regret to settle in. Surprisingly, it didn’t, so he continued, “I’ve been skating since I was five.”
You raised your eyebrows. “Really? That’s so cool! You must be really good.”
“I guess.” Jake laughed sheepishly and ducked his head, trying to hide the blush that was creeping on his cheeks. God, what was wrong with him? Not only had he offered to teach you how to skate (something he would have never done if it were someone else) but was also feeling shy at the hint of awe in your tone.
“I—I don’t know,” you answered hesitantly. “I don’t want to inconvenience you.”
“You won’t.”
“Are you sure? You looked pretty annoyed when you saw me at the skatepark.”
Jake’s eyes widened. “No! I wasn’t annoyed,” he lied. “I was just surprised.”
You stared at him for a moment before smiling knowingly. “Whatever you say, skater boy.”
He opened his mouth to reply, but you beat him to it. “Oh, thank God, we’re here.”
Indeed, when Jake averted his gaze from you, he saw the supermarket in all its glory. It looked empty, save for the half-asleep cashier slumped in his seat at the billing counter.
You let go of Jake and limped on one leg through the automatic doors. Slamming your hand on the counter, you yelled, “Get up and do your fucking job, Sunoo!”
Jake watched in slight confusion and shock as the cashier jumped in his seat, almost falling off. “What the hell, Y/N?! Do you want to give me a heart attack?” he demanded in a shrill voice, his hand on his chest.
“Oh, shut up, I did you a favour. You know there are cameras in here, right?” you pointed out.
“You know the owner is an old lady who doesn’t even know the T of technology, right?” Sunoo replied snarkily, and then asked as realization dawned on him, “Why the fuck are you out so late?”
Jake saw you tense. “I wanted to go for a walk.”
Sunoo frowned. “Alone? Does your mom know?”
“I’m not alone. I’m with my new friend.”
Sunoo followed your gaze and finally noticed Jake awkwardly standing at the door. Scoffing, he asked, “Sim Jake’s your new friend?”
You narrowed your eyes and scrutinised both boys. “You two know each other?”
“I don’t know him,” Jake replied, looking just as lost as you were. “Do you know me?”
“I know of you,” Sunoo corrected. “You’re pretty popular. Y/N, on the other hand, is not. Hence my disbelief.”
“Hey, asshole!” you exclaimed and glared at Sunoo. “I just don’t talk to a lot of people!”
“Neither does Jake,” Sunoo pointed out. “But he’s known as the hot, mysterious skateboarder who keeps to himself while you’re known as the friendless girl. Or not known as,” he amended. “Because you’re not, you know, popular.”
“You half-witted son of a cunt—”
Jake stepped between the two of you before things could escalate. “Okay, let’s all calm down.”
“Tell him to shut the fuck up first!” you whined. “He’s being such a jerk to me!”
The corners of Jake’s lips quirked at the sight of your bottom lip sticking out in a pout. He promptly ignored the way his heart rate picked up.
“What’s your problem, Sunoo?” he demanded from the cashier.
“My problem is that Y/N woke me up!” Sunoo burst out. “I was having an amazing dream and now I can’t remember any of it!”
“Deserved,” you commented under your breath before saying out loud, “Whatever. Sleep during your shift or don’t; I don’t care.”
“Good!” Sunoo snapped.
Sticking your tongue out at him, you grabbed Jake’s arm and tugged him deeper into the store. “Let’s go.”
Snaking his arm around your waist again, he let you direct him towards the refrigerators at the rear end of the supermarket. “Who is he?”
“My neighbour.” You rolled your eyes. “We’ve known each other since we were toddlers and he’s been a huge pain in my ass the entire time. I want to punch him every time he opens his fucking mouth.”
Jake raised an eyebrow. “Hatred isn’t a very sexy look on you, Y/N.”
“As long as it’s a little sexy.” You wiggled your eyebrows. “I trashed his car because he spread rumours about me at school. He’s working night shifts to pay for the repairs but all I had to do was throw the best rager of the year to nullify what he had done.”
“Wow.” Jake laughed. “I would not want to get on your bad side.”
You grinned cheekily. “I don’t think you can.”
Once the two of you had reached the refrigerators, Jake helped you sit down on the floor and fetched an ice pack.
You carefully removed your sneakers and socks and rolled your ripped baggy jeans up a few times. There was some swelling on the outer side of your ankle, but the injury thankfully didn’t seem to be severe.
“Oh, good, there’s no bruising,” Jake also noticed. Sitting cross-legged in front of you, he gently stretched your leg and placed it on his lap. “You’ll heal in no time.”
“Do you hurt yourself a lot while skating?” you asked as he pressed the ice pack to your wound. You had a low pain tolerance and distracting yourself by talking always proved effective.
Jake shrugged. “Kind of. This month I tried to skate down the railing that divides the staircase in the children’s park and fell off. Fucked up my entire body and couldn’t move for a few days.”
Mentally cringing at the image forming in your mind, you questioned, “Why do you perform risky stunts if they’re so dangerous?”
“It’s fun,” he answered and moved your ankle in all directions slowly. “Skating makes me feel alive. It’s something I’ve been doing since I was a kid, and I can’t imagine quitting just because of a few injuries here and there.”
“Don’t people break bones and tear ligaments because of failed skateboarding stunts?”
Jake grinned. “Then I guess it’s a good thing I don’t fail a lot. Besides, I usually wear full-sleeved clothes to avoid scraping myself. There’s a physical risk factor no matter what sport you pursue.”
You pondered over his words for a moment. “What made you start skateboarding?”
“This is starting to feel a lot like an interrogation.” He raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile playing on his face. Your face heated in embarrassment, and you were about to apologise for asking so many questions when he continued, “I used to always see the skatepark while coming home from day care. My parents must have noticed me pressing my face against the car window each time we drove past because I was given a board on my fifth birthday. I’ve been skating ever since.”
“Woah. Isn’t that almost twelve years?”
“A little over, actually. I turn eighteen this year.”
Your lips parted in wonder. You’d met very few people who talked about skateboarding the way Jake did. His eyes were shining with barely contained excitement and his lips adorned a wide smile that sent your heart fluttering.
You’d been uncertain before, but now you knew for sure you wanted to get to know this boy who had such love and passion for skating.
“Does your offer to teach me how to skateboard still stand?”
Jake beamed. “Always.”
Tumblr media
Jake hadn’t seen you for two weeks. While it hadn’t been that long, he strangely found himself missing you.
It was as if something had clicked between the two of you when you’d been sitting on the supermarket floor. No one had ever bothered to ask Jake how he started skating, and he’d never seen anyone be genuinely so interested in his hobby.
Jake never initiated conversations or even made a conscious effort to keep them going. Yet, the two of you had talked till the sun came up and only left when Sunoo kicked you out.
He’d driven you home after and you’d exchanged phone numbers. He even made you promise him to see a doctor as he helped you up the porch stairs.
“I’ll message you when my ankle heals,” you had told him. “We can decide when to meet up then.”
Jake had agreed, but as the days passed, he found himself itching to send you a check-up text. He’d never been one to overthink, so a few days later, you saw your phone screen lighting up with his name.
For the next few weeks, the two of you texted constantly. From discussing which pasta sauce was superior to what your dreams were—you never seemed to run out of things to talk about. Jake couldn’t stop sparks of hope from igniting in him whenever he received a notification alert.
He’d never felt this way for anyone. While it was scary for him to realise you were starting to become the reason he smiled so often now, he embraced the wave of affection that washed over him each time he thought of you.
Texting every day turned to calling every day and calling every day turned to FaceTiming every day. Jake had become so comfortable around you that he wasn’t shy anymore to answer your video calls even though he was half-asleep and still in bed.
Unfortunately, the two of you weren’t able to meet again because of your heavy schedules. You were in a bunch of extracurriculars, and Jake had basketball practice after school. He missed you more than he would have liked to admit.
AirPods in both ears, he was casually skating to the skatepark at 4 in the morning like usual when he caught sight of a figure leaning on the support railings.
“No way,” Jake mumbled to himself and plucked his AirPods out of his ears. Getting off his skateboard, he hit its tail and began sprinting.
The thud of his footsteps alerted you and you pocketed your phone. Pushing yourself off the railing, you turned around to greet him.
Only to be thrown off your balance as he collided with you and engulfed you in a warm embrace. It took you a moment to react, but you laughed softly and wrapped your arms around him too.
“Miss me so much, skater boy?”
Jake pulled back and smirked at you. “Do you always call me skater boy because you don’t know my name?”
“Of course not!” You grinned. “You’re just so memorable, Jack. I couldn’t forget about you if I wanted to.”
Amused, Jake raised an eyebrow. “Really? You’re just going to go ahead and call me the whitest name to ever exist?”
“Jack’s not too far from Jake,” you pointed out. “And you do have an accent.”
“It’s Australian!”
“Mhm.”
Rolling his eyes playfully, he glanced at your leg. “How’s your ankle holding up?”
“Completely healed,” you chirped and moved it in all directions, going as far as jumping in place to prove yourself. Jake fondly smiled at your actions, his eyes turning into smile crescent moons. “Don’t you think you should have asked me this question before you crashed into me with the force of a truck?”
Laughing sheepishly, he rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah, sorry. I just got excited.”
“Nah, I missed you too.” You gave his shoulder a light-hearted punch. At your words, a seed of happiness sprouted in Jake’s chest. “Do you still want to teach me how to skate?”
He grinned and set his board on the ground. “Get on. Without support.”
“Wait, what?” you asked and glanced at the piece of wood nervously. “Just like that?”
“You’re wearing the right kind of shoes so you’re already halfway there. Besides, it’s not that hard.”
You shot him a dirty look. “Easy for you to say. I have zero balance, and this isn’t even a longboard.”
“I’m surprised you know the terminology,” Jake commented.
You looked a little taken aback for a moment, but you caught your bearings so fast he thought he’d imagined your expression. “I read up a little before coming.”
“Oh.” Jake wasn’t completely satisfied with your answer, however, he let it slide without any further poking. “Well, you’re right; this isn’t a longboard. You have me to catch you if you fall off, though.”
You stared at him for a moment. And then, “My ankle better not get fucked up again, skater boy.”
“No promises.”
Glaring at him playfully, you kept a foot on the skateboard tentatively. Your hand instinctively reached out to grab Jake’s sleeve, but you fisted it and forced it back to your side.
This was turning out to be even harder than you’d expected. You were scared to put your other foot on the board in fear of it slipping under you like last time.
However, your unwillingness to appear as a coward to Jake overpowered your anxiety. You were about to bite the bullet and just step on the board when Jake said,
“Angle your feet sideways. Place your right foot in front of the left one.”
Nodding without looking at him, you did as you were told.
The skateboard moved a little as you stepped on it, a yelp leaving your mouth. Jake’s arms caged your figure from a distance, and you grabbed them immediately to stabilise yourself.
“Not that hard, was it?”
You breathed a laugh and tried shifting the board a little from side to side using Jake’s support. “Apparently not.”
He let go of your elbows as you got off the piece of wood. “You’re doing better than my first time on the skateboard already.”
“Weren’t you, like, five?”
“I’m really trying to be supportive here.”
You snorted. “Why, thank you.”
“My pleasure,” Jake popped and bowed dramatically. “You wanna go again?”
The two of you must have practised and goofed around in the skatepark for hours—you could tell because of the sun rays that had begun to peek over the horizon. It didn’t feel that way at all, though.
The concept of time never seemed to exist whenever you were with Jake both physically and virtually. No matter how long you spent with him, it never felt enough.
Skating was a sort of therapy for Jake. He couldn’t go a day without cruising on the streets or performing stunts in the park when there was no one to watch. For you, though, he was ready to give it up.
Being one of the reasons you smiled was of much more value to him. He loved the way your eyes sparkled as if they held the entire galaxy in them. He loved hearing you ramble about the most random things ever. He loved having someone he could be completely honest to.
Jake hated being cheesy, but he had to admit that his black-and-white life had suddenly turned vibrant and colourful when you entered it.
He knew what this feeling was. Watching you confidently ride the skateboard with a huge smile on your face got rid of any fear he had.
He wasn’t afraid to acknowledge his heart anymore.
He was in love with you.
Tumblr media
Never had you imagined someone you’d only met a month ago would become so important to you.
Jake had come into your life when you needed him the most. Even though you couldn’t bring yourself to completely open up to him, his presence was enough. He made things easier for you. With him by your side, nothing felt impossible.
But the weight of your guilt became a little too heavy to bear sometimes. So much so that you couldn’t help but think you didn’t deserve him. That you were moving on faster than people in mourning should.
Were you even in mourning anymore?
Your dead brother would have wanted you to escape the past and live your life. He would have wanted you to stop blaming yourself. He would have wanted you to find your safe space and heal.
You were tired of the sympathy. You were tired of the it wasn’t your fault and there was no way you could have known. You were done with people telling you to stop torturing yourself.
You deserved the emotional turmoil you experienced every single day. You didn’t deserve to get your pain taken away by Jake.
It wasn’t hard to pretend in front of him. He wasn’t in your school and didn’t stay in your neighbourhood. The two of you had no mutual friends. He didn’t know you when you went through the biggest loss of your life.
You felt guilty for putting up a happy facade and hiding the darkness in you when he was nothing but honest with you. Part of you wanted to tell him about your brother’s death, but underlying that urge was the fear of being thought of as someone who needed to be fixed.
You didn’t know if you could survive another don’t blame yourself.
Jake was your escape from reality. When you were together, it was just you, him, and your skateboards. Being with him gave you a sense of normalcy. As much as you wanted to lay yourself bare in front of him, you didn’t want him to walk on eggshells around you.
“What are you thinking about?” you heard him ask.
Averting your gaze from the car window, you glanced at him and shook your head with a smile on your face. “Nothing.”
“I can tell when you’re lying.”
“I swear it’s nothing,” you promised, your heart constricting as the lie effortlessly left your mouth. “I’m just stressed about school. I have a lot of stuff due this week and a debate tomorrow. I’ve never been good with deadlines so I can’t help but be anxious.”
He studied you for a moment, as if mulling over your words. You could tell he wasn’t convinced, but he didn’t push you further. Maybe that was why you were so comfortable around him. He never forced you to talk about something and always let you open up at your own pace.
All he did was offer comfort and let you know he would be there for you no matter what. It was more than you could have ever asked for.
“Do you want me to drop you back home?” he suggested, concern evident in his tone. “We can hang out once you’re done with your submissions and have a lesser workload.”
You shook your head. “No, it’s fine. I’ll just lie in bed and think about all the things I haven’t done yet. I’d rather not be alone with my thoughts.”
“Fair enough,” Jake said and turned his attention to the road again.
There was silence for the next few minutes. You turned in your seat and reached for the back of the car to fetch your skateboards when Jake turned the corner of the park.
“Don’t,” he said, making you pause. “We’re not going to skate today.”
You blinked. “What?”
“I have something else in mind.” Jake glanced at you out of the corner of his eye and gave you an excited grin. “I think you’ll love it.”
“Really?” you asked, chuckling a little. “Where are we going?”
“Surprise” was all he said.
Tumblr media
Jake’s ‘surprise’ would have been pretty good if you hadn’t identified where you were headed the minute he took the turn that led you out of the town and towards the beach.
For his sake, you pretended to be oblivious to your surroundings. He was right about the other thing, though. You were loving the direction this night had taken.
Besides, now that you thought about it again, it technically was a surprise to you that Jake remembered the one time you’d mentioned your liking for late-night walks on sandy shores.
“No way.” You feigned a gasp and looked at him. “The beach!”
He gave you a pointed stare. “Shut up. I know you knew we were coming here.”
“Yeah, okay,” you said and shrunk in your seat. He laughed softly. “But I really do appreciate you bringing me here.”
Putting his arm on the headrest behind you, Jake put his car in reverse so he could park it. “And I appreciate you not bursting my bubble and embarrassing me. At least until I deduced how dumb I was to not expect you to know we were going to the biggest attraction of our town.”
You grinned. “Ten out of ten for effort.”
Looking at you, Jake rolled his eyes, and that was when you noticed your proximity. Your faces were so close you could count his eyelashes and see the brown flecks in his irises.
The smile on your face dropped and your gaze flitted to his lips for half a second. Then went back up to find that his eyes were on your lips now.
Your gazes met before you could look away and pretend whatever sparks you’d just felt had been nothing but a result of your wild imagination.
He sucked in a breath. You braced yourself, your heart beating so fast you were sure it was going to leap out of your chest.
Anticipation paralysing you in place, you could only watch Jake as he leaned in for a kiss. However, the seatbelt prevented him from closing the distance between your lips and a string of curses left his mouth instead.
“Motherfucker,” he mumbled under his breath and fumbled with the buckle. You snapped out of your reverie and ducked your head, letting your hair fall over your face to hide your fluster.
Jake struggled with the buckle, his hands shaking due to his embarrassment at not having thought things through and frustration at being cockblocked by a fucking strap around his torso.
You bit down on your lip to keep yourself from smiling. Deciding to take a leap of courage, you cupped his face in both hands, causing him to stop his actions and look at you.
You glanced at his mouth again and closed your eyes, finally placing your lips on top of his.
At that exact moment, Jake’s belt buckle snapped open. Grabbing the back of your neck with a hand, he pulled you closer and kissed you harder. His other hand went to your buckle, unfastening it with the kind of expertise he hadn’t been able to showcase while he was undoing his own.
You let your arm travel to his shoulder for support. Pushing yourself up, you climbed on him and straddled his lap.
Jake’s seat jerked back as he adjusted it to accommodate you comfortably. His hand rested on your waist, the other one still wrapped around your nape. His thumb caressed your cheekbone gently—a total contrast to the passion with which he was kissing you.
Running your tongue over his lip, you wove your fingers through his silky strands and tugged at them. He opened his mouth in response to your glaringly obvious request and tilted his head to the side, allowing you to deepen the kiss further.
Jake knew he’d wanted this for a while now, he just hadn’t realised how much he’d wanted it. Pure, undiluted euphoria was coursing through his veins.
Part of him wanted to pinch himself to confirm that no, this wasn’t a dream, but he reckoned that wasn’t sexy and would ruin the mood.
Out of breath, you detached your mouth from his. Jake’s lips chased after yours, unwilling to be separated from them just yet. He kissed you a few last times before burying his face in the crook of your neck.
You rested your forehead on his shoulder, idly scratching the hair at his nape as you tried coming down from the high of the kiss.
The two of you sat in a comfortable silence for the next few minutes. Jake rubbed soothing circles on the curve of your waist with his thumb, puckering his lips to leave a trail of butterfly kisses on your neck that caused goosebumps to erupt across your skin.
You wanted him to say something—anything. What were the two of you now? This wasn’t a situation that was caused because you went with the flow and got a little too lost in the moment. The moment was over, and you were still nestled in his lap. His arms were still around you and holding you close, as if he never wanted to let you go.
This wasn’t a mistake. This clearly meant something to him.
Whatever this was, it was real. Real and genuine and infinite—
“I love you,” Jake mumbled against your neck. Your breath hitched in your throat, and you froze for a moment. This was the last thing you’d expected to hear.
He shifted so that the two of you were facing each other and gazed at you with wide, vulnerable, honest eyes. “I love you, Y/N,” he repeated. “More than I’ve ever loved anyone.”
You were at a loss for words. “Jake…”
“I know it was selfish of me to drop something so heavy on you without a warning, but I had to get it out,” he continued, a tremble evident in his voice. “I just wanted you to know what I felt for you. I couldn’t pretend any longer—”
“Jake,” you stopped him before he could go on, tears pooling in your eyes. “Don’t. Please.” The expression on his face tore your heart to shreds. “I’m sorry.”
He remained frozen for a moment, as if waiting for you to take your words back. But you didn’t. You didn’t and Jake thought he was dying and his soul was being ripped apart.
He had thought he would be able to handle your rejection, but then you had kissed him as if your life depended on it and his hopes had skyrocketed. Now, his heart was shattered, and he didn’t think he’d ever be able to pick up the pieces.
The wound you’d inflicted on Jake was one that would never stop bleeding.
Tears escaped your eyes as you opened the door of his car and climbed off him. Jake vacantly kept staring at where you’d been sitting in his lap, and you were about to shut the door when he said, “Wait.”
He turned to look at you, pain and heartbreak colouring the whites of his eyes red. The sight only made your anguish increase tenfold.
“I’ll drop you back home,” he said.
You opened your mouth and closed it again, unable to form a reply. Jake noticed your hesitation and clarified, “It’s not safe for you to go back alone. Please, let me drive you home. I promise this won’t mean anything.”
You never thought you’d hated yourself so much. You’d stomped on his heart and here he was, begging you to let him do something nice for you.
Gulping, you nodded once and walked to the passenger’s seat on the other side. Jake had closed his door and strapped his seatbelt again by the time you opened the door of your seat.
Wordlessly, he started the car and began driving. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw his knuckles turn white with how hard he was gripping the steering wheel. You swallowed the urge to apologise again and fisted your hands in your lap, averting your gaze to the window instead.
The next thirty minutes were absolutely torturous. The air was thick with tension, and you didn’t know how to approach Jake. You didn’t think he even wanted to be approached by you.
Hell, he probably never wanted to see you again. You were a complete monster for being so cruel to him right after you kissed him and gave him hope. There had been better ways to deal with the situation.
The car came to a stop in front of your house. You glanced at him, but Jake was staring at the road silently, his grip on the wheel not having loosened even a bit.
Your heart sank. Biting down on your lower lip, you tried keeping your whimper inside. Wordlessly, you unfastened your seatbelt and threw the door open.
It was an effort to not glance back at Jake as you walked to the porch of your house. The moment you were inside, you heard him rev his car and drive away.
Forever.

Jake was a mess.
He had been cooped up in his room and wallowing in self-pity the entire week. Technically he did leave for school because his parents kicked him out and he did attend basketball practice because his coach was on his ass.
But other than that, he was at home, not even sneaking out to skate. He couldn’t be bothered to play the sport anymore.
It was crazy how you had essentially ruined the only thing he was passionate about. Every time he looked at his skateboard, he was reminded of the times you had shared and the memories you had made.
He was reminded of how you’d made him fall in love with you.
You had forgotten your board in his car the night everything went to hell. Jake had brought it up to his room and propped it right next to his, noticing that the two pieces of wood looked really good next to each other.
He had slapped himself hard when he came back to his senses. He was being so pathetic.
However, he reckoned he did have a good reason to brood and play Valorant, cussing out his teammates for faults that were clearly his.
You had kissed him and then rejected him in the worst way possible. Begging him to stop pouring his heart to you? That hurt.
And Jake was going to make it the problem of four people he had never met before.
“I will boil your fucking balls if you die again, HoonVader6969,” Jake growled into the mic of his headphones. “You have contributed nothing to this game.”
“Hey!” HoonVader6969 protested from the other side. “I have 2 kills!”
“2 kills in 8 rounds is pathetic, you son of a bitch!”
“What the hell, LegendJake404?” HeeKing1510 exclaimed as Ddeonu8809 used his ability and killed an enemy. “Hop off HoonVader6969’s dick! You didn’t land any kills and were the first to die in almost all matches!”
Jake snorted. “I’d hop off HoonVader6969’s wiener if he had one.”
JongDong111 laughed. “Can confirm from experience that LegendJake404 is right.”
“Shut the fuck up, Jay!” HoonVader6969 yelled in a strained voice. “We had a deal!”
“The deal was to not mention the size of your dick to people we know,” JongDong111—Jay—countered smoothly. “I don’t think we’d associate ourselves with someone who calls themself a fucking legend.”
“You’re one to talk,” Ddeonu8809 came to Jake’s defence. “You literally have a dong in your name.”
Jake froze, identifying his teammate immediately. The reaction cost him, and he died. Now watching the game through JongDong111’s perspective, he exclaimed, “Sunoo?!”
“Yeah,” he replied, unamused. “It’s me. You got yourself killed again, by the way, asshole.”
“Damn,” HeeKing1510 muttered. “You all knowing each other is making me feel left out.”
“Woah,” Jake interrupted. “Why am I an asshole?”
“Y/N’s been depressed all week because of you! It’s no fun being mean to her when she isn’t willing to fight back!”
Jay whistled lowly. “Valorant player breaking a girl’s heart? That’s gotta make headlines. Some of us can’t even talk to the opposite gender.”
“I’m gonna fuck you up, Jay,” HoonVader6969 threatened. “Stop indirecting me.”
“Sure, Sunghoon,” Jay mocked. “We’ll see how good your fucking skills are.”
“Get back in the closet, fucker. June’s over,” Jake snapped. “Sunoo, what do you mean Y/N is depressed because of me? She rejected me!”
Jay hummed. “Oh, yeah, this version makes more sense.”
“You think she doesn’t feel anything for you? Did you even ever ask why she turned you down?” Sunoo questioned as another round began. Jake chose his ammunition, thousands of thoughts racing through his mind at the speed of light. He was utterly confused; what was Sunoo implying? “Or have you been screening her calls and leaving her texts on delivered all week?”
“Not cool, dude,” HeeKing1510 said in a disappointed voice. “Also, I’m Heeseung.”
“Nobody cares.”
“I see why Jay bullies you, Sunghoon.”
Jake ignored them. “I needed some space to get my shit together. She begged me to stop confessing right after she kissed me, Sunoo. And now she’s trying to get back in touch with me? What am I supposed to think?!”
It was incredibly stupid of Jake to talk about his shitty love life in front of a bunch of strangers who had probably never felt the warmth of another person, but he didn’t care. He needed answers. What the hell was Sunoo talking about?
“Look.” Sunoo sighed. “I don’t wanna say anything on Y/N’s behalf, but I’ll suggest you to not ghost her and respond. You guys need to talk. She knows that which is why she’s trying to get hold of you.”
“Why do you know so much about this Y/N person?” Sunghoon asked suspiciously.
“She’s my neighbour slash best friend slash mortal enemy slash parasite on my Netflix account.”
Jake frowned. “Your best friend trashed your car?”
“Wait, she was the one who trashed my car?!”
Jake pulled his computer’s plug.
Tumblr media
Your jaw was quite literally on the floor.
Jake had finally texted you back and agreed to meet you the same night. However, instead of feeling relieved that you’d be able to explain yourself to him, you felt on edge and jittery.
No matter how much you tried, you couldn’t stop being nervous about what his reaction would be.
After several sleepless nights and a lot of overthinking, you’d at long last deduced why his opinion of you mattered so much.
You were in love with him. And you were scared that once you revealed your past to him, he wouldn’t accept it and love you for all your faults.
You knew Jake deserved more credit than you were giving him—he understood you like no one else did, for God’s sake—but your fear of opening up to someone and laying yourself bare in front of them was tearing you apart.
Maybe part of you hoped he would feel overwhelmed. Maybe part of you thought it would be better if he didn’t want to deal with your issues. Maybe part of you felt that you didn’t deserve Jake because you still hadn’t forgiven yourself for your brother’s death.
Maybe that was why you had pushed him away and were sabotaging your relationship. Maybe it was all to punish yourself and hurting Jake in the process had only been the collateral.
God, you were a terrible person for keeping your feelings bottled up and not dealing with them. You never should have left him in the dark.
Sighing, you turned on your stomach and screamed into your pillow. You’d been lying in bed all day, not even bothering to go downstairs to drink water when you felt thirsty.
Your parents had knocked on your door, concerned, but you’d waved them away and said you were on your period and had cramps.
They didn’t believe you, but you were too distracted by Jake to tell them you weren’t thinking about your brother. You didn’t stop them when they booked an appointment with your therapist the next day.
Feeling a little better after having screamed your lungs out, you dragged yourself out of bed and stumbled into the bathroom.
You looked absolutely horrible. The person staring back at you from the mirror reminded you of the initial few weeks after your brother’s death. You had huge dark circles under your bloodshot eyes, and your lips were chapped and colourless.
Your hair was a bird’s nest. Your head was pounding, and you had to grip the sink to keep yourself steady.
You had to clean up. You couldn’t let Jake see you like this. There was nothing you could do to get rid of the exhaustion visible in your eyes, but you could have a bath and put on some makeup to cover your awful physical state at least.
Taking a deep breath, you nodded to yourself.
I can do this.
Tumblr media
Jake thought you had told him to meet you at the town park near your house instead of the skatepark that was slightly farther for a reason. Given what had happened the last time you were in his car, he suspected you didn’t want to enter it again.
Or maybe the place reminded you of your ruined friendship. It certainly did to him. He hadn’t visited the skatepark at all the past week.
Jake had no way to confirm what your intentions were, so all he did was drive anxiously to your decided meeting place.
You weren’t meeting in the dead of the night this time. It was early—around 6 p.m—and he couldn’t help but think you had suggested that hour because the town park was filled with people.
Did you not want to be alone with him either?
Shaking his head to get rid of the intrusive thoughts, Jake parked his car in the parking space and shut the door behind him.
As he walked to the benches near the pond you had agreed to meet at, his phone lit up.
y/n: i’m here
jake: omw
He frowned at his reply. Was he being too informal? Should he have said something along the lines of almost there?
Before he could overthink anymore, a voice broke him out of his reverie. He jumped a bit, not expecting to have already reached the benches.
“Hey,” you mumbled and attempted a smile. Upon failing miserably, you cleared your throat and averted your gaze away from him.
Jake’s heart clenched. He was relieved to see you again after a week of zero contact, but he hated the sight of you looking so exhausted. You’d covered up your dark circles with concealer and tried to put some colour to your face using a rosy blush, but he saw right through it all.
Maybe he should have not ignored you. It seemed that while he was busy getting over your rejection, he hadn’t given much thought to how his confession had affected you.
“How are you?” Jake asked as he took a seat beside you on the other end of the bench. He realised what a stupid question it was the moment the words left his mouth. You looked miserable.
You shrugged and wrapped your hands around yourself. He could barely see your face because of your hoodie. “Surviving. You?”
“Surviving.”
Silence followed your short-lived conversation. Jake racked his brain to search for things to say, but you beat him to it.
“Are you wearing concealer?”
His eyes widened. “W—what?”
“It’s not blended well.” You pointed at his swollen eyes half-heartedly. “You did a sloppy job.”
Embarrassment crept up Jake’s neck and tinted the tips of his ears red. “Yeah? So did you.”
You closed your mouth at that. Personally, you thought you’d done a good job at covering how pathetic you felt. You’d gone as far as watching a few episodes of Modern Family to uplift your spirits. Your parents had even said that you looked better when you were leaving the house.
But then again, it had never been hard for Jake to read you.
Sighing, you dropped your gaze to your lap and fumbled with your fingers. “Thanks for coming.”
“I’m sorry for ignoring you.”
Swallowing thickly, you nodded once. “I’m sorry too.”
“Y/N,” Jake begged. “Look at me. Please.”
Eyes burning, you hesitantly faced him. There were tears welling in his bloodshot eyes too but he didn’t bother wiping them away. It broke your heart to see how much your actions had hurt him.
You knew him well enough to know he hadn’t put makeup on to protect his pride but to protect you from feeling even more terrible about what you had done.
You needed to tell him the truth. Right now. He deserved to know all of it.
Wiping your tears, you asked him, “Do you remember the night we met? I told you my brother was going to come to pick me up but then you dropped me home after we finished icing my ankle in the supermarket?”
Slowly, Jake nodded. “I do.”
“I lied to you that day,” you continued, bracing yourself for what you were about to say next. “My brother was never going to come to pick me up. He’s dead. He has been for a little over a year now.”
You couldn’t bear to see the shock on his face. You couldn’t bring yourself to wait for the sympathy to replace it instead. So, you looked away again and kept talking before he could speak,
“He was a skater too. A really good one. He loved me and cared a lot for me. I used to be so surprised when my friends talked shit about their brothers. Mine used to tease me a lot but he never got me into trouble. We were tight, and always had each other’s backs.
“I sneaked out to a party one day and my brother caught me. Usually, he drove me wherever I needed to go because I have overprotective parents, but he’d donated blood that day and he wasn’t supposed to drive. I buttered him up and got him to let me borrow his car keys on the condition that I wouldn’t drink and would come back home before dawn. I was desperate to leave so I brushed him off and promised him that I would stay sober.”
Laughing humourlessly, you shook your head. Your lower lip wobbled as you resumed, “Spoiler alert: I didn’t keep the fucking promise. I got absolutely wasted. Somehow, my brother got to know and left to pick me up. I think it was through someone’s snap because I remember drinking from a beer bong and people recording it. He didn’t want me staying at my friend’s place overnight because that would have gotten both of us in trouble.”
You sniffled and swallowed a sob. Jake and you were in a fairly secluded place but there were still a few other people, and you didn’t want any unwanted attention.
“He got in my mom’s car to come to get me—he thought he’d given enough time for the side effects of the donation to fade. The police said he must have fainted while driving. The doctors performed surgery on him the entire night, but they couldn’t save him.”
Finally looking at Jake, you said, “And you know what the worst part is? I didn’t know he’d been in a car crash till he was dead. Amidst all the panic, my parents didn’t think about waking me up when they got the call, so they never knew I wasn’t at home. I had passed out at my friend’s house from partying too much while my brother died on his way to pick me up.”
Jake’s lips parted. “Y/N…”
“Everyone keeps saying it wasn’t my fault and my brother should have known better because he was an adult. I hate that my parents don’t hate me for killing their firstborn. I hate that they’re paying one of the best therapists in town to get me through this. I hate that nobody blames me even though I’m responsible for his death. I’m supposed to face the consequences of what I’ve done. I’m supposed to be suffering and I hate that you make things easier for me. I hate that I’ve made you fall in love with a killer—”
“You’re not a killer, Y/N—”
“Then what else am I!” you burst, tears freely falling down your face now. “I’m a horrible person, Jake! I don’t deserve you and your goodness. I don’t deserve love!”
“Don’t say that—”
“Do you know why I was at the skatepark the other day?” you asked angrily. “I wanted to learn how to skateboard so I could feel closer to my brother. He always wanted to teach me. He thought it would be a good way for us to bond, but I always had an excuse. Extracurriculars, academics, exams—I never made time for him and his passion. I wanted to learn how to skateboard because it was my way of keeping him in my heart.
“But then you came along, and you made me so happy. You knew nothing about my past, and I craved the normalcy I felt when I was with you. It was so easy to befriend you because I didn’t have to take your sympathy and be treated as someone who needed to be fixed. It was so easy to fall in love with you because you were able to offer me comfort despite having no idea about the most traumatic experience of my life!
“I thought I could push you away. I thought I could punish myself by not allowing myself to move on, but I only broke your heart in the process. I don’t know what to do. I don’t wanna be hurting anymore, but it feels wrong and selfish to wish for happiness when I’ve done such a monstrous thing.”
The floodgates were released, and you were sobbing openly now. Your throat was closing up and its insides felt like sandpaper. Your head was throbbing, and your vision was completely foggy. You felt dizzy.
Jake scooted closer and wrapped his arms around you, tears falling from his eyes as well. He pulled you against him and let you bury your face in his chest. He hated seeing you in so much agony, but he had no words to offer.
So, he let you cry for as long as you wanted, rubbing soothing circles on your back and caressing your hair.
Jake couldn’t even begin to imagine going through such a loss. He admired you for pushing through for so long. He was proud of you for being brave enough to open up to him.
He still loved you just as much and he was going to make sure to never leave your side as you navigated through your pain.
Never.
Tumblr media
“Jake, we’re late!”
“Hold on, I’m trying to find my hoodie!”
Grimacing, you yelled back, “I was wearing it yesterday and spilt mustard sauce on it.”
There was silence for a moment. Then heavy footsteps that sounded a lot like stomping. Then—
“You did what?!”
“I’m sorry!” you whined. “I’ve dropped it at the dry cleaners already!”
Jake gave you a dirty look and shrugged on the denim jacket lying on his sofa. “Don’t bother returning it.”
“I can’t do that,” you said and slipped your hand through his, tugging him along. “You have to wear it for a few weeks so it starts smelling like you again and I can steal it once more.”
“I’d offer you another hoodie, but I don’t know how I feel about something else being spilt on it.”
“Bold of you to assume you have any hoodies left, skater boy.”
Despite himself, Jake laughed and pulled you close, pressing a kiss to your temple. “You cheeky motherfucker.”
“What are you going to do about it?” you challenged as the two of you reached his car and strapped yourselves.
He hummed. “Leave early?”
“C’mon, threaten me with something realistic.”
“You don’t think I’d do it?”
“You love me too much and haven’t seen me in over two weeks. I know you wouldn’t do it. I’m actually surprised you even thought of it.”
“You got me.”
Snorting, you relaxed and looked outside the window. It was a pleasant day outside. The sky was clear, and the sun was shining. Everyone had huge smiles, thanks to the beginning of summer break.
Jake and you had been dating for a little less than two years now. You were both in college now and pursuing your dreams. Unfortunately, you couldn’t get into the same university, but were thankfully in the same state, living just an hour away from each other.
You didn’t know if you could call your relationship long-distance since traffic was the main reason your travel time crossed the sixty minutes mark.
Nonetheless, you were happy and were making it work. You were in a much better place than you were two years ago. You had an amazing boyfriend who loved you more than you thought was possible and stood by your side no matter what, and a therapist who actually understood you and helped you come to terms.
Right now, the two of you were on your way to the local skatepark. You hadn’t been able to find much time to keep practising, but Jake had kept his skills polished and made it a point to visit the park at least three to four times a week.
You were probably going to hurt yourself and make a huge fool of yourself in front of the kids who skated there—he had told you they were extremely talented for their age and had taught him some new stuff too—but it was okay.
You weren’t afraid to fall anymore; you knew Jake would always be there to catch you.

A Kind Act - Jake Imagine (Sweetbitter)
Tumblr media
Title: A Kind Act
Pairing: Jake (Sweetbitter) X Reader
Word Count: 1,284 words
Warning(s): cussing, mention of bad parents
Summary: After (Y/n)'s night takes a twist for the worst; Jake shows a side of him that (Y/n) never thought they'd ever see.
Author's Note: I needed something soft.
-----------------------
I was never one to just run off without getting all of my work done.
That must've been why Jake followed me outside.
I was in the middle of trying to stop myself from crumbling into a pile of sobs on the street. My arms wrapped around myself as I frantically sniffled and tried to wipe away my tears.
"(Y/n)?"
I jumped away from the wall, looking at Jake.
"Are you crying," he asked.
I just shrugged and forced a chuckle. What was I gonna do? Say no?
"Do you... Do you need something?"
I scoffed. "Is it too late for you to make me a really strong drink?"
He frowned. "I'd feel like shit if I gave you booze and sent you to walk home all by yourself."
"Fuck off then," I snapped, sadness and disappointment turned to anger. One thing. I wanted one thing.
"I'm walking you home."
"No, no-"
"You are clearly upset," he stopped me. "Let me walk you home and make sure that you're safe."
I wiped my eyes again before finally nodding.
We started walking in silence. I was ready to ignore him until I got home.
"Come here," he stretched out his arm. I furrowed my eyebrows. "I don't like standing here like an ass while you walk with me and cry."
I stepped over and let him pull me into his side. I rested my head against his shoulder. It was nice. Normal. Jake and I weren't terrible to each other, but we weren't the closest people in the world. Still, I felt nothing strange about relaxing against his shoulder.
We didn't speak again until we got to my door. He was about to leave me alone when I stopped him.
"Stay," I said. I hadn't thought about it until the word made it out of my mouth. When it did, I felt like an idiot as I dropped his arm. "I'm sorry. You're probably tired. You're still in your work stuff. Probably busy. You can just leave-"
"I'll stay."
"What?"
"I'll stay," he repeated. "You... seem like you need it."
I nodded before letting him walk inside.
The rest of the night almost seemed blurry. He tried to ask what was wrong, but I didn't want to talk about it. He muttered something about me being stubborn but dropped the subject. I ended up curled into his side in my bed. Any other day, I would've wondered why I did it, but that night, I was just happy to have the comfort.
I was confused when I woke up the next day to the other side of the bed empty. The confusion would only last for a matter of moments. I fell into a state of acceptance in a matter of moments.
One nice moment didn't mean anything. I had to accept that eventually.
But not today.
I questioned that acceptance when I heard muffled talking outside the door. I couldn't make out what was being said. I knew it was one voice thought. And that it seemed like an argument.
I jumped a little when the door opened again. Jake stopped in the doorway when he saw that I was awake. He leaned on the frame.
"Sorry," he said. "Did I wake you up?"
I shook my head. "No, no."
"Good."
There was an awkward pause before I spoke up again, “Who was on the phone?”
He raised his eyebrow at me.
“That’s none of my business-“
“Simone.”
“Oh.”
“Apparently, I’m an ass for making sure you got home safe and staying here with getting clearance from her,” he explained.
I just nodded. I didn't want to give my personal opinion on Simone.
He let out a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Are you off then,” I asked.
He lifted his head up to look at me. “Do you want me to go?”
“No.”
A small smirk pulled at his lips. I turned my head away from him, pretending like I was looking at the view from my window. My response was way too fast. I felt like an idiot.
I heard him walking over. I felt the mattress dip. He tugged the covers over his legs.
“I’m sorry for last night,” I muttered, looking at him again. “For being an ass.”
“You were upset.”
"I was still an ass."
“I forgive you, alright?”
I nodded.
“Wanna tell me what happened?”
"My parents were meant to come visit," I explained. "They were meant to show up today because I didn't have to work. They called last night and canceled last minute."
I looked down at my hands.
"I don't think they had any intentions of coming. They just lied to try and protect me."
"I'm sorry," Jake said.
He reached over and laid his hand on mine when I didn't
"Want me to make you breakfast?"
"Excuse me," I chuckled. "You want to make me breakfast?"
"You sound shocked considering we did spend the night in the same bed."
"I thought you hated me," I replied. "I'm shocked you're here at all."
"You didn't think that I hated you."
"I assumed you hated everyone."
"Why," he asked.
"I don't know," I furrowed my eyebrows as I turned on my spot, now facing him. "It feels dumb now that I think about it."
He nodded as his thumb grazed over my knuckle.
"Sorry."
"Stop doing that."
"Apologizing?"
"You apologize for everything."
"I do not."
"Yes, you do."
"You are so full of shit-"
"I watched someone spill their drink on you and you apologized."
I paused for a moment. "Maybe you've got a point."
"I know."
"Shut up."
"Not my thing."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
We fell into a silence soon after. It was like everything that needed to be said had been said. I stared down at our hands. It was such a natural motion. Was that because I had asked him to stay over last night or was this inevitable?
"I never got close to hating you," Jake explained. "Quite the opposite."
"Is that so," I asked.
It was meant to be teasing, but my tone fell apart as he shifted closer to me. It felt like I had been frozen for a moment as he moved. It wasn't until I felt his breath brush my skin that I seemed to snap back into focus.
“Wait,” I muttered. “Wait, wait, wait.”
“What,” he asked, still inches from my lips. “What is it?”
“If something happens here,” I pointed between the two of us, “then it needs to be just us. I don’t want this to be some open thing. I… I can’t do that.”
A small grin formed on his face. “I thought you were going to ask me for something ridiculous.”
"So, you're... you're okay with that?"
"God, yes," he muttered.
I smiled at him for a moment before he leaned forward to finally close the distance. His lips moved against mine like we had kissed a hundred times before. It was all so natural. He had one hand cupping the back of my head while the other resting on the mattress next to me. My hands touched his sides.
I pulled away, almost feeling overwhelmed by the kiss. Mind racing, heart about to jump out of my chest, my breath unsteady.
I was only an inch away, maybe. Jake didn't seem to want me to move very far away.
"Stay," he said softly, lips moving to trace my jaw.
"I am," I replied, leaning back to look him in the eye.
I moved back to rest my head on his shoulder, wrapping my arms around his torso.
"Thank you," I mumbled.
"Trust me, it was my pleasure."

~~~
"So you're the famous Jake Sim?"
The boy looked up, one corner of his mouth lifted into a playful smirk. "Yes I am. How can I help you?"
You rolled your eyes. "How many minutes have we been here? And this is already the fifth girl that's trying to flirt with Jake."
"Sounds like someone's jealous." If looks could kill Sunghoon wouldn't have survived his comment.
"Obviously. We were supposed to go to this party together, and now he keeps walking off to talk to strangers."
"Pretty girls you mean. I really need him to give me some tips." This comment did not only result in you glaring daggers at Sunghoon, but also him getting hit in the arm by Jungwon, whose eyebrows were just as furrowed as yours.
"I'm sorry y/n. But you know how distracted Jake can get sometimes."
Yeah, you knew it quite well. After a three year long friendship it was inevitable - you had lost count of the endless amount of girls trying to win his heart. Unsuccessful, because like Jake never grew tired of mentioning, his heart only belonged to one person: you. His best friend. Not that it stopped the girls from trying.
"Earth to y/n, are you still with us?"
You flinched, your attention going back to Jungwon. "Yeah sorry… what were you saying?"
"Maybe you should make a scene. Show everyone and especially Jake who you came to this party with."
Hmm. What Jungwon said made sense... in a very weird way.
"And what should I do?"
"Kiss him." This time Sunghoon did not only get hit by Jungwon but also you. "Hey! I mean it, that would get the girls attention and might even make Jake realize that he's actually in love with you.
You froze, eyes staring at Sunghoon. "What?"
"I-" Sunghoons eyes were ripped wide open, a guilty look on his face. "Nothing."
"Jake Sim is in love with me."
"What? Noooo. Who said that?"
"You did. Just now." You kept your eyes on Sunghoon, staring him down while he seemed to shrink under your glare. You could almost see his nervousness radiating off him. "Spit it out."
Sunghoon looked to the others, probably hoping for some help, but they all suddenly seemed very interested in the interior design of the house. "Fine," he huffed. "I never said Jake's in love with you. I said a kiss might make him realize that he is."
"So you're saying he's in love with me."
"No! Well, yes, but he doesn't know it yet. I mean-"
Jungwon scoffed. "What he means is that you only need 5 minutes to listen to Jake and realize that he's in love with you. And the only two who haven't realized that so far… are you two."
"I- that's not true." You were speechless. The Jake Sim was supposed to be in love with you? Impossible. You would have noticed if he was. There would have been signs…
"My heart belongs to you, y/n. So why would I care about anyone else?" Jakes voice was echoing in your head. But… he was a flirt. Of course his words sounded more flirty than normal too, that didn't mean he loved you. Or even had a crush on you. It was Jake, he was like that with everyone.
"You know I love you," Sunghoon stated, "but sometimes you're dumb."
"Now…" You felt offended. "It's not like Jake is in love with everyone he flirts with. And he doesn't even flirt with me, so why would he be in love with me."
"Ever thought that this might be because he's in love with you?"
You stared at Jungwon. "He doesn't flirt with you either."
"That's not the same. Just see how he looks at you. The grin on his face every time he starts talking about you. The-"
"Okay, okay." You playfully lifted your arms before Jungwon could get even more worked up. "Let's assume you're right. What should I do?"
"Well, do you like him?"
"No. I mean-" You grew silent. Did you? Now that you thought about this you weren't so sure anymore. Sure, you got jealous whenever he would flirt with other girls. Sure, your heart was beating faster whenever he said his heart belonged to you. But that was normal, right? It's what friends felt. "He's my friend."
"Would you want to be more than friends?"
Good question. Would you?
"Seems like a kiss would not just make things clear to Jake," Sunghoon grinned.
"I can't just kiss him." Although you had to admit… you didn't mind the idea.
"Why not?"
"I- what about consent."
Sunghoon rolled his eyes. "You can ask him before."
"I'm too sober for this."
"You don't even drink."
"Maybe I should start."
Sunghoon just grinned. "If it helps you two realize your feelings, then I will gladly pour you a cup."
You looked at Jungwon, eyes begging for help, but he just shrugged.
"I'm not getting out of this, am I."
"Nope," Sunghoon still grinned. He enjoyed this. "So tell me, should I make you something or can you manage without?"
"Without." You shook your head. "Just give me a minute."
"Take all the time you need." At least Jungwon had the courtesy to look apologetically. Not that it helped you in any way.
You took one last deep breath, before you made your way towards Jake. It didn't take long, and yet your mind was going into overdrive with worry and thoughts about this whole situation. Jake liking you more than friends seemed so absurd- but not unwelcome. But impossible. Right?
Jake saw you coming towards him, and his eyes lit up. His body moved towards you, like he was completely blending the other girls out. Oh.
"There's my favorite person," he smiled, a hand held above for a high five that you gladly reciprocated.
"Hi Jake."
"Sorry girls, but my presence is required elsewhere," he winked, one arm wrapping around your shoulder to pull you with him. "Thanks for saving me."
"Saving you? You seemed to enjoy it."
"Eh, all the attention gets exhausting after a while. So thank you."
You nodded, mind going wild with thoughts again. "Jake- can we talk?"
Jake seemed to freeze for a second, your previously synchronized footsteps now out of order. He seemed nervous. "Did something happen?"
Here we go. You took another big breath, turning towards Jake as you reached a secluded, quiet area. "Sunghoon said you like me."
Jake escaped a laugh, relief flooding over him. "That's it? Of course I like you, we're best friends."
Right. "Sunghoon said you like me more than friends do."
Jakes posture changed immediately. His face paled, and he suddenly seemed nervous, his eyes busy with avoiding you, his hands fidgeting. There were only a few instances in which you had seen him like this before.
"Sunghoon's right, isn't he," you whispered. You weren't sure what you felt before, and you still weren't sure now. But when you saw the tiny nod Jake gave you, you felt relief. You felt… happy.
"I'm sorry." Jake didn't dare to look at you, so he also didn't notice the smile on your face that now quickly dropped.
"Why are you sorry? Are you okay?"
"I know we're friends, that's why I didn't want to say anything… it just happened. I'm so sorry."
Friendly feelings or not, your heart broke in that moment. Your hands grabbed Jake, giving them what you hoped would be a reassuring squeeze.
"You have nothing to be sorry for. Especially not when it comes to your feelings. Can I ask for how long…"
"A couple months ago," Jake mumbled, still avoiding to look at you.
A couple months… that was when he started saying his heart was yours. The puzzle pieces slowly started to build themselves together. Every little 'accidental' touch since then, every shared smile, every heartbeat speeding up when Jake looked at you. And suddenly it all made sense, and you decided to be brave without being drunk.
"Can I kiss you?"
Jake looked up in shock, his eyes finally meeting yours. "What?"
"Can I kiss you please?"
Jake gave you a small nod, followed by a whispered yes. You let go of Jakes hands and softly placed yours on his cheeks to pull him closer. And the second your lips met things were clear for you.
You were in love with Jake Sim.
AUTHORS NOTE ➩ honestly i rlly loved skin on skin and never planned to write a sequel but since it was heavily requested i tried! im not a huge fan of it and it’s a bit slow and boring at times but hopefully you enjoy and it answers some of the questions you had about what happens to them afterwards! if you want more specifics feel free to leave me an ask but there won’t be a part 3 so plz don’t request one lol. happy holidays everybody
Despite spending almost all of your formative years day dreaming what it would be like to be away from home, how the outside world would feel fresh and new and beautiful, you weren’t fully prepared for just how different it could possibly be.
It hadn’t been long now since you’d left, evident by Jake’s lip still cracking and bleeding every time he managed to smile too wide.
Still, he was managing far better than you and you were almost a little jealous considering his ability to socialize and adapt to your surroundings every new place you ended up in.
Taking now as a prime example as you observed your surroundings with a slight frown on your face. You were sat in an old diner with lights that made a low buzzing noise and windows fogged up by the cold that settled in with the night. Your hands were nervously playing with the paper from your straw, anxiously ripping it into smaller and smaller pieces so you had something to keep you occupied.
Jake was a few feet away, sat on a stool at the bar and leaning over it with a bright smile on his face, chatting animatedly with the older women behind the counter and shoving his finger against the map out in front of him every few seconds as he was trying to understand the directions she was helping him with.
You thought it was interesting how much he seemed to fit in out here.
The town you were currently in wasn’t far from where you’d grown up but it was almost triple in size, actual buildings and businesses just outside the diner and small crowds of people wandering around in suits and modern clothing. It felt like a new world and your head was hurting from the constant buzz of noise and movements.
All your life you’d longed for something interesting, for any moment to catch your attention long enough to help you forget where you were and now you finally had a steady stream of these distractions and you didn’t quite know what to do with them.
You looked back up towards Jake and saw him already watching you, a worried expression on his bruised face that slowly melted into a smile as he gave you an encouraging thumbs up.
Your lips curled up slightly and you gave him a small nod of approval back.
Despite your constant worrying and doubt about leaving home, or more literally running away from home, the one thing you hadn’t second thought was who you were doing it with.
Feeling an ice cold hand placed on your arm, you whipped your body around in defense and laid with your back pressed firmly against the mud, hands raised in preparation to fight off whoever had approached you in the field.
You dropped your hands with a cry when you saw it was just Jake standing over you, his eyes wide in fear and hands raised in surrender and an attempt to soothe your sudden panic. He relaxed at the sight of your relieved eyes but then immediately tensed up again when you started to sob.
You sat up to look at him closer, cupping his injured face in your shaking hands and frowning deeply.
He’d never seen you this vulnerable or lost and he felt a deep pit settle into his stomach at the way you shook your head in denial and cried looking at him. He wasn’t quite sure what the full extent of his injuries were but he imagined they couldn’t be pleasant judging by your extreme reaction.
“We have to go.” He was whispering and you kept shaking your head, looking at him in confusion and caressing his face with your cold thumbs.
“Go where Jake?” You said in bewilderment, looking around the area you were in and shrugging. “We have no where to go, and nothing with us.”
He was kneeling down into the mud so he could be closer to you, not minding the way it squished and soaked into, what was now, his only pair of jeans.
“You have me.” His voice was stern and sincere, needing you to trust and understand that what he was saying was the truth. It wasn’t safe to stay where you were and you’d have to take your chances elsewhere to avoid what was coming your way.
“They followed me out of the house.” He was continuing and although you had suspected as much, knowing there was no way he had talked himself out of that situation, your stomach still clenched in fear. “It’ll be worse when they find us.”
You weren’t sure how it could be worse considering the current state of him. Jake’s face was swollen and already starting to bruise, his lip busted with blood dripping down onto his sweater.
Despite a few days passing now and healing the most extreme of his injuries, you still cringed at the memory and your face pulled into a grimace as you looked back down at your hands.
“We get people like you in here all the time.” A sudden voice was snapping you out of your thoughts and your head shot up to see a boy around your age with an apron on his waist. He was standing next to your table and looking over at Jake, the same way you were.
“Excuse me?” Your tone was harsh and he glanced at you for a second before sliding into the booth across from you.
“Hey, relax. I didn’t mean anything bad.” His voice was hushed and casual, spiking irritation in you. You wondered if this is how all teenage boys spoke in the real world. “That’s my mom over there. We live above the diner.”
He lifted a hand over his shoulder to point at the woman Jake was talking to, who apparently was the owner on top of being a waitress. You looked back at the boy and your eyes went to his name tag.
“Bob?” You questioned him with a raised eyebrow and he let out a laugh at your deadpan expression.
“It’s actually Heeseung.” He explained and when you looked more confused he continued. “Bob’s sick so I’m filling in.”
You didn’t say anything after that, just humming in understanding and avoiding looking at him. You were mentally willing that Jake would hurry back so he could take over the social interaction.
“I really didn’t meant to offend you. I just meant that we see kids from the villages all the time.” He was speaking in a kinder tone now but you looked back up in surprise at his words.
“You can tell?” You whispered and leaned forward with your elbows on the table, looking around slightly in panic. It was already alarming enough to think you were radiating runaway vibes but it also didn’t help to think about all the kids before you that had ended up at this same place.
“Not really.” He rushed to assure and his big eyes widened in alarm at your sudden change of demeanor. “I just heard your boyfriend asking about the bus stop.”
You nodded at his explanation, relaxing slightly at his words but being a bit awkward at the label he had applied to Jake. He seemed to notice and his eyebrow quirked up.
“Not boyfriend then.” You couldn’t tell what his tone was implying but you furrowed your eyebrows into a glare and watched him carefully.
Thankfully Jake was finally heading over then, you could see him approaching from over Heeseung’s shoulder and he froze for a second when he realized you weren’t sitting alone anymore.
Heeseung was sat where he’d been sitting so he slid into the seat next to you, pressing close so your thighs and shoulders were touching each other. He didn’t look too worried at the sudden appearance of the boy despite your own hesitance.
“I’m Jake.” He greeted casually and he stuck his hand out across the table. Heeseung looked down at it for a second in surprise and you suddenly realized how aged the two of you might seem compared to normal teenagers. Still, the strange boy shook Jake’s hand happily and smiled across the table.
“Nice to meet you dude.” He grinned and looked over at you, making you realize you hadn’t offered your name to him at any point. You mumbled it and he nodded appreciatively.
“His mom, the owner, said they have a place for kids who leave the neighboring towns to stay overnight.” Jake was speaking in a calm tone from next to you and you glanced over at him with widened eyes.
Despite your annoyance with the boy across from you, it suddenly made sense why he had approached you in the first place.
“She told me all about the bus stops like we needed but I figured it’d be good to have somewhere to sleep for a few days that wasn’t a bench.” He looked nervous as he spoke like he was worried you’d scold him for making his own version of a plan.
Heeseung on the other hand looked awkward for other reasons, the mention of your homelessness saddening him.
“That sounds great Jake.” You smiled warmly at him, eyes tired as you placed a reassuring hand on his bouncing knee. “Thank you.”
“My mom lets people who stay with us work in the diner if they’d like.” Heeseung was talking again, more sheepish this time. “You don’t have to but she’ll pay you, then you’ll be able to travel easier.”
For the first time since leaving home you felt a small surge of hope as the two boys spoke and you almost welled up in tears at the kindness you were experiencing. You felt happy that other people like you and Jake had found this place and you felt sadness that some might not have.
You harbored these thoughts for the rest of the evening, even after Heeseung’s mom was done with her shift and flipping off the open sign on the diner window. She ushered the three of you into a back hallway with a warm smile and you followed in contemplative silence down it and up the staircase at the end, giving Jake small nods every time he glanced back to make sure you were okay.
The apartment wasn’t large but it was nice and home like, comfortable seatings in every corner and pots and pans sprawled about the kitchen like they’d left in a hurry after breakfast.
She showed you that the couch pulled into a springy bed for you and Jake to sleep on and you almost smiled at the slight blush that brought to his cheeks. She gave you a knowing glance and you faltered away from her gaze.
You were making the bed with the blankets she’d lent you, Jake and Heeseung off in his room after he excitedly exclaimed he had something to show Jake that he just couldn’t miss out on.
“Are you settling in okay?” Ms. Lee’s voice was startling you and you looked up at her from where she stood in the doorway, adorned in pajamas and a robe.
You briefly considered the fact you’d never once seen your own mother in such a casual state, although there was hundreds of obvious differences between the two.
Not fully trusting yourself to speak still, you nodded your head at her appreciatively and smoothed out the final blanket you had just laid down.
“Come here and I’ll make you some hot chocolate.” She was instructing kindly and you awkwardly followed her a few feet away into the connected kitchen, sitting down at the small table as she started to rummage through the cupboards. “I’m sure this must all be so overwhelming.”
“A bit.” You answered her after a few seconds of hesitation, your voice quiet and not quite sounding like yourself.
“You’ve made it this far.” She was continuing and you cocked your head at her although she wasn’t facing you and couldn’t see. She seemed to anticipate your reaction however and went on to explain. “Leaving is the hardest part.”
“When did you leave?”
She was turning around in surprise at your question but she didn’t look upset or offended that you had somehow managed to realize she also was from one of the villages. After her look of surprise faded away she gave you a small proud smile and sat at the table across from you.
“All these years I’ve been doing this and you’re the first person to figure me out.” She had a small teasing tone and you managed to smile at her.
“19 years ago I left.” She said it slowly like she was waiting for you to piece it together and you did immediately, parting your lips in surprise.
Your eyes shot to the fridge briefly, seeing photos of her and a small baby then more of the two of them as Heeseung continued to grow and she continued to age.
“I fell inlove,” She began hesitantly, like she hadn’t spoken it aloud before. “And then I found out I was pregnant. I could only hide it for so long of course and by the time they found out it was too late. But my father told me I would have the baby and then they’d give him away, we’d never tell anybody.”
You were nodding as she spoke, watching her as she stood up again at the sound of the water filter stopping and she began to pour your drinks while continuing her story.
“I said okay, of course. I was young and didn’t think there was anywhere to go but then I saw him.” She shrugged with a sad laugh and paused in her motions, taking a second to breathe. “I held him for three seconds before they took him away but that was all I needed.”
When she turned back towards you she gave you a smile and you returned it, graciously accepting the warm mug she was handing you as she sat back down.
She didn’t continue and you didn’t ask her any questions or pry for more specifics, details on how she managed to get out with Heeseung. You imagined that was where the story got ugly for most people, including yourself.
You thought back to the bruises on Jake’s face and body and you wondered what she thought when she saw him. Did it phase her or did most runaways come through looking how he did, or maybe even worse off. How many kids got to this point and then turned around, accepting the fate of returning home?
Echoes of Jake’s voice carried down the hallway, his laughter and teasing tone as he joked back and forth with Heeseung and you felt yourself tear up at how carefree and happy he sounded.
You weren’t sure he’d ever felt like that before but even worse, if he would again for a long time.
“You should go and check on him.” Ms. Lee was whispering and patting your hand, a knowing look on her face when you glanced up at her with wet eyes. You nodded and went to stand up before hesitating.
“Thank you.” You whispered back to her with full sincerity, voice cracking around the word and she didn’t reply verbally, giving you a smile and a nod.
Your heart was pounding as you walked down the hallway. There was only two doors at the end and one of them was open with bright lights pouring out so you assumed that was the one they were currently in. When you turned the corner into the doorway, you froze for a few seconds.
The boys were sat on Heeseung’s carpeted floor with something in between them, laughing so hard their breaths were catching in their throats and you watched Jake give him a playful shove on the shoulder at something the other boy was saying.
Heeseung’s room was basically a cluster of all sorts of games and media, things you didn’t recognize but you could imagine were well known considering the sheer amount of merchandise he had.
You could see colorful superhero’s and toy cars, a bookshelf overflowing with books and more little knick knacks. You thought back to your room, grey and barren other than the bible on your nightstand and your stomach turned.
Then Heeseung’s eyes were bouncing up towards you and he faltered as he noticed your sudden appearance. “Oh hey.”
Jake was looking over his shoulder in confusion and his smile dropped when he saw you, eyebrows furrowing in worry as he stood from the carpet and approached you in a hurry. His hands went to your crossed arms, holding you delicately and peering down at you.
“What’s wrong?” He whispered and you shook your head, confused when you realized you were crying.
You tried to tell him that it was nothing and reassure him he could go back to hanging out with Heeseung, who was cautiously watching the two of you, but your voice made no noise so you just parted your mouth in muted silence.
Jake was frowning and petting your hair gently. “Hey let’s finish up tomorrow.”
You felt guilty as you heard Heeseung agree and bid the two of you goodnight, only getting worse when Jake started to lead you down the hallway and back out into the living room with gentle hands.
Ms. Lee was already out of the kitchen and the mugs were cleaned up, small circles of left over hot chocolate residue being the only evidence of your talk.
Jake helped you into bed and pulled the covers over you before walking around to the other side and crawling in next to you. He tugged his sweater off, leaving him in a white t-shirt, and laid down on his side so he could face you.
“What happened?” He whispered and you let out a small sob, laying on your back so you didn’t have to look at him. “Y/N, what happened?”
“I don’t know.” You whispered and you genuinely meant it. You weren’t sure when or why you’d started to cry, before this week it was extremely rare you’d get to such a point of emotion. “How are you so good at this?”
He let out a soft laugh and you glanced at him finally, frowning at his gentle expression and shifting your body so you could be closer to him.
“Are you kidding? This is terrifying.” He was scooting forward with you, pressed against your side now and whispering next to your ear.
You smiled through your tears at his statement, rolling on your side so you could face him better. You cupped his face when you turned, thumb rubbing softly over his bruise cheek.
“Doesn’t hurt anymore.” He whispered and you nodded softly despite not fully believing him. You saw the way he tongued at the cut on his lip and winced every time he got dressed in the morning. You couldn’t believe somebody could ever want to hurt a person like Jake.
Even now as you leaned up to kiss him, you could hear the slight hiss of pain at the feeling of your lips pressed onto his. He ignored it and surged forward into you, happily accepting the pain that came along with being close to you again.
You hadn’t had any down time since leaving, sometimes holding hands while you waited at bus stops or pecking him goodnight before you curled into each other and slept close to remain warm.
But kissing him now felt different in the same ways it felt familiar and you leaned into him again desperately at the sudden comfort that washed over you. Despite the absolute mess of a week you were having and your entire life being flipped upside down, Jake was here and he understood exactly what you felt.
He’d come with you instead of taking his punishment and staying home. It wasn’t safe there but neither was what you were doing, living from place to place with no steady food source or warm bed to sleep in as the winter approached rapidly.
Yet he was still here with you and still doing things that were strange and confusing for him. Just like you, Jake had never had to work, never taken a bus or been in a city with more than 700 people. He was waking up each day and holding more conversations than he’d had his entire life and trying to figure out the safest option for the both of you.
You wanted him to understand you were beyond thankful for him and everything he was doing although you had a habit of falling short on words.
One of his hands went to your hair, keeping you pressed against him and you felt a small spark of satisfaction in your stomach at the reminder of who exactly you were kissing. Less than two weeks ago he hadn’t even been able to hold your hand and now he was frantically keeping you tugged against him.
Your hands went around his back and you bunched up his thin shirt in a tight fist, shuffling even closer to him as you took a deep breath and kept kissing.
He was sitting up just a bit so he could lean over you and you heard a soft whine escape his throat as he tried to deepen the kiss. You stopped and tapped him on his back which caused him to immediately pull away with a frown.
“We can’t baby.” You shook your head and his frown deepened. You felt his hand that was in your hair twitch like he was going to instinctively curl it up before remembering it’s placement.
“I can keep quiet.” His voice had taken a soft pleading tone and you felt him lowering himself again, although this time he was half way on top of your body. He leaned back in to kiss you and you accepted habitually.
This kiss was deep from the start, your heads turning and pulling each other in with a fever that only time could bring. You let yourself lick into his mouth just to hear his soft little gasp before pulling back again.
“Please.” He was whispering into your mouth before you could reject him again and your resolve faltered slightly.
You hummed as you considered your current situation and what he was asking. Heeseung and his mom were quite a bit away, all the way out of the living and kitchen and down the long hallway. But the apartment was still small and you were guest.
“What do you want baby?” You questioned him gently, touching his face again and he immediately was pushing against your hand and letting out a shaky breath.
“Please.” He didn’t say anything else for a second and you almost told him to word it clearly before you realized he was completely lowering himself now so you could feel him against you.
Your mouth parted in understanding at the hardness that was now pressed against your stomach and he flushed bright red, hiding his face in your neck in a familiar position. Your hand that was still on his back, gripping his shirt, rubbed it softly and he groaned in embarrassment.
For a moment you wanted to tease him, make him feel more humiliated for getting hard after barely kissing you. But then he was picking up his head with red cheeks and anticipation in his eyes and you couldn’t help yourself from leaning into him.
He made a small surprised noise at the sudden kiss but happily accepted it.
Your hand went under his shirt to continue rubbing his back and you were suddenly reminded how rare it was you actually felt each others skin. Not to mention you’d only ever seen him without pants, always remaining fully dressed.
He seemed to be having a similar line of thoughts because he was impatiently reaching down in an attempt to tug his shirt off, stopping when you swatted at his hands.
You didn’t want to be in too damning of a position in case Ms. Lee decided she needed a late night glass of water, and you were content with the feeling of his warm skin under your hand as you rubbed his back.
Jake let out a little whine however at your refusal and you licked into his mouth as an apology, knowing he liked that part of kissing the most.
This was evident by the way he immediately bucked against your hip, a soft gasp coming out of his mouth again as he started to hump against you slowly. You lifted your leg slightly so you could push his body over, centering him so he was grinding with you directly and not just your hip.
“You’re so cute.” You mumbled into the kiss when his whole body twitched at the switch of position, freezing for a moment at the feeling. “You’d let me have you right here, wouldn’t you?”
He was nodding quickly and pulling back to look at you more clearly, trying to determine if you were serious with hooded eyes and swollen lips. The smile on your face told him you were just teasing and he groaned.
“We can’t baby I’m sorry.” You were mock pouting at him and caressing his bruised cheek. “What if Heeseung heard?”
He froze at the mention of the other teenage boy and you were intrigued by his extreme reaction. You’d just been explaining casually but he seemed to have already considered this judging by the way he awkwardly avoided your gaze now.
At first you wondered if he was jealous at the idea of it, curious if he had a possessive side to him at all. But then you were shifting underneath him and you suddenly realized he was throbbing as he was pressed against you, his face flushed with embarrassment.
“Would you like that?” You whispered and he winced, still not looking at you. “You want him to hear?”
He didn’t say anything but you knew you were right, he was just too ashamed to admit. Maybe he wasn’t able to read your tone and was worried that was a line you didn’t want to cross, a bad thing to suggest.
You attempted to reassure him silently by rubbing his back again and shifted your hips so he would lower himself onto you once more, guiding him by doing that until he was finally moving again. He took a stuttered breath as he continued to grind against you.
“Would you let him touch me or just watch?” You were suddenly whispering and he looked flustered at the fact you were bringing it up again.
“N-no touching.” He sounded pained at the thought and you almost laughed, answering your previous question about possessiveness.
You hummed and kissed him again and he happily accepted. Your leg was coming up to wrap around his waist so he was pressing against you more and you almost let out a sound of your own at the feeling. For a moment you considered indulging his earlier request and letting him touch you.
“Only you can touch me right?” He was nodding and kissing against your mouth desperately as you spoke, making it difficult to get the words out. “But he can watch.”
He paused again to look at you, breathing hard as he kept rubbing himself against you and trying to hold in his noises. He glanced down the hallway towards Heeseung’s room and another wave of interest washed over you. You weren’t sure if it was being watched that he liked or specifically by his new friend.
“You like him?” You whispered in question, pushing his shirt up off his back and waiting for him to get the hint and pull it over his head. You wanted to sit back and look at him now that he was shirtless but you kept eye contact as you waited for him to answer.
He shrugged and blushed. “No, I don’t know. He called you pretty earlier and it made me think.”
“Do you think I’m pretty?” You quirked up an eyebrow and he nodded immediately, eyes shooting down to your lips briefly.
“So pretty.” His voice was a whisper like he hadn’t even meant to say it and you smiled at him and the way he was looking around at all the features on your face. He had stopped moving against you to look at you but neither of you noticed. “I just wanted to like… I don’t know.”
“Show him that you got me?” You tried to finish his sentence since he obviously had no clue how to describe the thoughts he was having and he looked relieved as you put it into words, nodding his head and leaning back down so he could kiss you again.
The kiss was slower and more sweet, taking little breaks and drinking in being close to each other. Your hand on his back moving suddenly reminded you that he was shirtless and you paused.
He watched you in confusion when you pulled back from the kiss, tugging the blankets up slightly so you could get a better look at him on top of you.
You knew Jake was fit considering his wide build and legs, assuming his dad had put him to some type of labored work back at his village, but it didn’t make it any less surprising to see all of his chest and stomach bare and pressed against you.
“God you’re pretty too.” You groaned softly and he looked a little unnerved at you using that word, still adjusting to losing his faith. He quickly forgot about it as you spoke again. “I want you to fuck me so bad.”
A deep whine escaped his throat and he dropped his head into your neck again, biting against it to stop himself from crying out as he started to hump you again.
“Do you remember how wet I felt on your fingers?” You were panting as he rocked against you, throbbing in your sweatpants and desperately holding onto his back. “Want you to think about your cock inside me.”
He let out a soft cry into your ear and started to buck into you harder, you were clenching around nothing at the feeling of him, wishing so desperately you were alone so you could finally show him what it felt like to actually feel you.
“It’s so tight and warm Jake.” You kept whispering in his ear despite the fact it was riling him up too much, his noises getting far too loud for the quiet room you were in. “You won’t last two seconds, my poor baby.”
He was suddenly kissing you in an attempt to shut you up and simultaneously mute his own sounds, the thought of stopping because of an interruption making him feel sick to his stomach. He’d never needed you so desperately and your countless attempts to provoke him weren’t helping.
You were surprised at his sudden bold actions but accepted it happily, a small knowing smile on your lips and you kissed him back.
He kept fucking into you, so desperate for relief that he didn’t even realize you clawing against his back, the stinging of your nails hidden underneath the pure pleasure rushing through his veins. You were licking into his mouth desperately and he felt a surge of pride at the fact you were as needy as he always felt.
It wasn’t long after that before he was coming undone on top of you, biting onto your collarbone in an attempt to hold back his deep moans that were barely muffled against your hot skin.
He was collapsing on top of you and you nearly cried out at the sudden loss of contact, tapping his back desperately and waiting for him to pick his head back up and look at you in concern.
“Touch me.” You urged and he looked frightened and confused before nodding and waiting for you to guide him. You took his large hand in yours and pushed it down under the covers, gliding over your panting stomach and into your pants where he was met with your wet and aching core.
He gasped softly and looked at you with wide eyes, not quite understanding why you were suddenly on board with being touched. You realized quickly Jake didn’t understand what it meant for you to cum too, only just doing it for the first time for himself some weeks ago.
You rocked your hips against his hand and he shifted so he could access you more comfortably, laying on his side as he nervously pressed his hand firmly against you.
Humming in approval, you gripped his wrist and helped him move it properly, letting out small whines at the feeling of his thumb on your clit like it had been back in the field. Your free hand was touching him as he laid next to you, rubbing his stomach and chest and drinking in all the bare skin.
He was addicting to touch and be touched by and you wished again, for the dozenth time that night that you were in the position for him to take you fully.
“Put one inside me.” You were gasping out and he looked thrown off by the request, shaking his head softly and watching you in bewilderment. He wasn’t sure what you were exactly referring to but you shifted your hips and spread your legs a bit more so he could feel you and understand.
His mouth was parting in shock as his fingertip was now pressing against your hole and you waited for him to meet your gaze, nodding your head in confirmation.
He trusted you blindly and slowly pressed a finger into you, gasping softly at the feeling of it while you did the same. You always knew his hands were particularly large but you weren’t prepared for how heavy and thick they’d feel on you.
“Oh fuck.” You muttered out and he froze, waiting to see if it was a good exclamation or a negative one. The roll of your hips let him know which and he kept pressing into you, leaning forward so he could kiss you during.
“Be quiet.” He whispered against your lips and another flash of heat passed over you at the command. His voice was genuine when he said it but the slight change of his demeanor made you feel crazy.
You let yourself be slightly distracted by the kiss as he kept pressing his finger into you and moving it experimentally, trying not to panic at the loss of control you were experiencing. You needed to remind yourself that your plan to control and ruin Jake was long over and this was a mutual relationship now.
His free hand was going to your hip that was rocking and moving to try and get him to finger you deeper, holding it down against the bed and giving himself more time to touch you and explore the feeling.
“Spit.” You were whispering into his mouth and he pulled back slightly to look at you in confusion before remembering that day back in his bedroom. He was waiting for you to confirm and you nodded desperately, opening your mouth wide and sticking your tongue out for him to fully get the message.
He sat up a bit more, looking hesitant and awkward but he fulfilled your request and let himself spit into your open mouth. He watched with wide curious eyes as it hit your tongue and a low moan rumbled through your chest, leaning up to kiss him again.
Between the constant feverish kissing, him pressing against you so desperately, and now what was happening now, you knew you were close.
Before you could even manage to warn him, you were finishing around his hands and you vaguely heard him make a soft startled sound, freezing like he was worried he had hurt you somehow. You laughed at his concerned expression through your pants as you tried to catch your breath.
“Are you okay?” He was whispering and you laughed again, closing your eyes and nodding.
He laid down flat on his back next to you and you both fell into silence for a few minutes, falling back to reality. You briefly wondered what he was thinking about during the moments after you did something to this extent and you rolled onto your side so you could wrap an arm across his stomach.
“I should get dressed.” He murmured although he made no attempt at moving. His cheeks were red as he took in his half nudity.
“We need showers.” You scrunched up your nose and he smiled at the expression, only slightly relaxing at your joking tone. “Boys sleep shirtless.” You offered to him.
“Normal boys you mean.” He whispered back after a few seconds of silence and you frowned at him.
“You are normal Jake.” You shook your head and laid it against his chest. You didn’t fully believe your own words but you wanted him to at least hear it. “Anything different about us isn’t our fault.”
“Heeseung’s normal.” He was spitting and despite knowing his anger wasn’t directed towards you, you were still taken back by his tone. He seemed to realize and he sighed.
You felt guilty that you hadn’t realize how much it was bothering him to be around somebody his own age, something who lived a different life.
“Nobody’s normal Jake.” Your tone was stern but not scolding and you felt him take another deep breath. Your hand was resting on his side and taping the warm skin softly. “Everybody has their shit.”
He didn’t say anything after that and you let the conversation die, hoping some part of what you said had stuck with him. If you were going to stay here for a few days you didn’t want him overthinking the entire time and driving himself crazy with insecurities.
Eventually you felt his breathing slow underneath your cheek as he fell asleep. You nuzzled into his chest contently before quickly following his lead.
——
By the time you woke up, Jake was gone and the blankets were pulled up tight around you. You felt panicked for a few seconds, jolting upright with a gasp before your eyes landed on a surprised Heeseung who was stood in the kitchen.
He was frozen in his pajamas, fuzzy pants with a yellow bear printed all over them, holding a bowl of cereal. He had paused mid bite at your sudden movements and you groaned and rubbed your eyes.
“Where is he?” You murmured, voice groggy with sleep.
He didn’t ask for any clarification, automatically knowing who you were referencing. “He helped my mom open this morning.”
You nodded and didn’t say anything else, pulling Jake’s discarded sweater over your head and climbing out of bed. Heeseung continued to eat his cereal in the kitchen as you moved until he noticed you staring at the couch bed in confusion.
“I’ll put it away until tonight.” He assured and you glanced back at him. “Go on and head down.”
You wanted to thank him, maybe engage in conversation about Jake and find a way to let him know your concerns. Despite your lack of trust initially, you had a good feeling about Heeseung and his mom and you imagined he’d be willing to tone it down for Jake’s adjustment.
Instead of doing any of that, you only managed to hum in appreciate. He smiled at you knowingly and you shyed away from it, heading down the stairs swiftly.
When you made your way down into the diner you were greeted with a few people sat around the shop, one or two families filling up the tables and some singular men at the counter drinking coffee.
You stood in the doorway for a moment when you spotted Jake, watching him swiftly make his way around the area in a white apron. He was smiling at the kids eating as he delivered them a plate full of pancakes, refilling the parents mugs casually after. He looked natural doing something so foreign to him and you felt more pride than jealously this time.
Eventually he noticed you observing him and he gave you a soft smile, flushing bright red after a few seconds like he was remembering parts of last night.
You weren’t exactly sure what part he was more embarrassed by but you liked the pink tint to his face.
“Did you want to help him?” Heeseung’s mom was suddenly appearing behind you and you jumped at the sound of her voice, shooting out of the doorway and awkwardly letting her walk pass.
“Oh I.. I’m not sure.” You hesitantly shuffled in place and she glanced at you with a warm look that gave you a weird pit in your stomach.
“I could use some help in the kitchen.” She was putting away something underneath the counter as she spoke but you could tell she was being purposefully casual in her offer, not wanting you to think she was pitying you for your obvious lack of social skills.
Despite the initial urge to scowl at her, to explode with anger at the fact she was offering you something so gentle and kind, you managed to accept.
Three days passed like that, you helping out in the kitchen while Jake (and occasionally Heeseung when he got bored) tended to customers and the register.
At night you’d all eat together, drinking hot chocolate and you’d sit back and smile silently at the way the boys laughed and teased each other. Then you and Jake would tuck into bed and talk about your days, sleeping against his chest like you were two regular people living regular lives.
On the fourth day, you woke up and did the same routine but you knew it was different. The others seemed to notice it too and everybody was unusually silent, moving around each other like it was habit now but not laughing and talking anymore.
You went through the day with the silent knowledge that it would be your last with the Lee’s. They’d been beyond generous and you almost denied the amount Ms. Lee was offering you and Jake for the work you were doing.
You knew it was probably more than she’d pay an actual employee but she pushed it into your hand and cupped them in hers softly while you shook your head with watery eyes.
Heeseung was approaching you before the last shift ended and you tried not to focus in on his shaking hands and furrowed eyebrows. You set down the rag you were wiping the counter with and gave him your full attention.
“I’ve been through this enough times to know you guys are leaving.” He was starting in a low voice and you felt a weird turn in your stomach.
You hadn’t considered much how many connections he made throughout his life that didn’t last. You wondered at what age he started to realize that the people that stayed with them were never going to last, you felt a fondness building at the fact he was still so willing to bond with you and Jake despite this.
“I just wanted to let you know that if things don’t work out, or they get too hard out there, you can come back here.” His words were quiet but sincere. You knew Jake was listening in from a few feet away and you saw him hang his head out of the corner of your eye. “You can always come back here.”
“We will.” You were whispering back and he looked at you finally. “I promise we will.”
“And we will call you whenever we get to where we are going.” Jake was speaking suddenly but Heeseung didn’t look surprised at the fact he was listening, just nodding his head.
You were rounding the counter before you even processed your feet were moving, pulling Heeseung in by his shoulder and hugging him tightly. He accepted it immediately, letting out a shuttered breath and patting your back.
You didn’t want to cry so you pulled away quickly, letting Jake hug him as soon as you finished.
The day finished up quickly after that and before you even registered what was happening, you and Jake were stood at the bus stop with the Lee’s who offered you a ride last minute. You both had gifted backpacks on your shoulders and your body felt heavier than usual.
Ms. Lee was hugging you goodbye when she whispered in your ear softly. “The hardest parts over.”
You hesitated as you pulled away from her, giving her a close lipped smile and a nod, knowing if you spoke you’d burst into tears.
Neither of you said anything as you got on the bus, moving in silence as Jake took your bags and placed them in the cubby underneath your seats. He watched you as you sat down next to the window before taking his spot beside you. His hand was coming up to grab yours and you shakily took it, trying to ignore the fact Heeseung was standing outside on the platform as he watched you go.
“Are we doing the right thing?” You eventually whispered to him, a few hours into the drive. His head was laid on your shoulder and for a moment you were worried he had fallen asleep.
“I don’t know.” His answer was honest and you were glad, not in the mood for any false hope.
“I imagine we got lucky this time.” His voice was low and you felt his hand come up to rest on your knee. “But we are going to try our best.”
You hummed in agreement and put your hand on top of his, squeezing it affectionately and shifting so you could rest your head onto his. You were suddenly exhausted and coming to the realization that most of the other passengers were already asleep.
You briefly wondered where they were all heading to, if anybody was feeling as confused and lost as you were or if they knew exactly what to do once they got off the bus.
Most were probably heading home for the holidays, something you’d been trying to avoid thinking about ever since you left despite the cold weather serving as a constant reminder to what time of year it was.
Like always you waited for Jake to fall asleep first, listening for his breaths to shallow out and for his chest to slowly rise and fall. It was, for some reason, easier for you when he drifted off first. Maybe it gave you some time to think about things without the guilt of checking out of conversations or maybe it was just easier for you to focus when you knew he was safe and not going anywhere.
After you were sure he was asleep you slowly managed to follow him into a deep dreamless night.
By the time you woke up, it was still dark outside the bus windows but you could see it slowly lightening as the sun started to rise. People around you were shuffling off exhaustion in their seats and preparing to deboard.
You looked over at Jake to see him already awake, eyes puffy from sleep as he looked out the window with a melancholy expression. You were tapping his arm instinctively and he glanced at you, face widening into a soft smile at your tired expression.
“Only like ten more minutes he said.” His voice was low but you nodded at him, tugging your sleeves down and preparing to go back out into the cold.
Once you got off the bus you felt a bit disoriented. Your previous stop was bigger than home but definitely manageable, still considered a small town to most people in the world and home like. Now you were definitely branched out and this city was large and bustling like nothing you’d ever seen.
Because the cold bite to the weather, you and Jake had mutually agreed to put some of the money you earned into a long stay hotel.
You felt slightly sick handing over money to the woman behind the check in desk, only worsening when she gave you a curious expression and asked if you wanted one bed or two.
You didn’t look back at Jake as you mumbled to her you only needed one, holding onto the straps of your backpack awkwardly for the rest of the interaction and as you made your way down the hallway.
“Home sweet home.” You muttered with a sigh as you propped the door open, tossing your backpack over onto the chair in the corner and sitting on the bed with a bounce. It squeaked underneath you as you jumped slightly and Jake smiled at you.
“It’s not that bad.” He reasoned and you weren’t sure if he was serious or just trying to cheer you up.
You laid back onto the bed completely, crawling up so you could be against the pillows and sighing again as your back cracked uncomfortably from the bus ride. Jake was getting the memo and pulling the blinds closed, kicking off his shoes and joining you in the bed.
Your body was feeling slight resistance at the fact you were back in bed so early in the morning but you pushed your routined mind to quiet down as you tried to rest again.
“When we wake up I say we go for a celebratory dinner.” Jake’s tone was hushed but you could tell he was smiling.
You didn’t say anything but you laid flat on your back and scooted closer to him. He was laying on his side and watching you with a careful expression, like he was still cautious of your reactions sometimes.
Taking his hand softly, you wrapped it around your stomach so he could hold onto you and you nuzzled into his chest with your side. He looked pleasantly surprised at your sudden incline in affection and squeezed your side appreciatively.
“We have three weeks here before we need to pay any more. I think we can find work before then.” He was whispering now that you were pressed up against him, his chest vibrating your shoulder as he talked in a low tone.
“So we are staying here?” You hadn’t really considered settling down anywhere for some reason and the thought threw you.
It was like your mind was still thinking this was all temporary, that at the end of this trip you’d return back home and back to your miserable lives.
He was shrugging against you and you glanced at him, seeing his hesitant and awkward expression. You felt guilty that he was still so cautious around you and you wanted to tell him that’s not what you meant, you weren’t trying to scold him for his suggestion.
Instead, words always falling short for you, you leaned down to press him into a kiss.
He was taken back for a few seconds, not at all expecting you to move let alone touch him, but then he was immediately pushing back into you and accepting your sudden kiss. You kissed for a few dozen seconds, slow and innocent until he instinctively squeezed his hand that was around your side.
You pulled back to look at him and his eyes were shooting all around you face, breathing slightly hard as you watched him sink back into that familiar headspace.
“Take your shirt off.” It wasn’t worded as a question but you raised your eyebrow so he would understand he could say no, this was his chance to deny you.
Of course he didn’t, shooting up immediately and tugging his hoodie and shirt over his head. His fluffy hair was left a mess from his haste to remove them and you glanced down at his chest for a while before saying anything.
Then you were shifting slightly and following suit, pulling your sweater off and trying hard to not flush at the sudden widening of his eyes and mouth. He was looking at you intensely and then looking away like he wasn’t sure he was supposed to be seeing you shirtless. You almost laughed at him as his hands started to shake from their place on the bed.
“Kiss me.” You instructed and after a few seconds of bewildered hesitance he was following your orders.
Your hands went around his back, his warm skin under your palms getting goosebumps at the feeling of your icy hands. He wasn’t touching you at first, hesitating and hovering over parts of your body like he’d burn up if he touched any part of your skin.
Eventually he was resting them on your hips, touching your pant waistline instead of your shirtless top half and you almost scolded him before deciding against it.
You led his body so he’d lay back down with you, placing him on his back and crawling over him so your body was sprawled on his. He groaned slightly into your mouth as you pressed your weight down on top of him and it sent an ache to your core.
He’d stopped kissing you to try and process the feeling of your bare chest pressed tightly on his and you frowned slightly, kissing his parted lips and trying to get him focused back on you. Slowly but surely he was out of his trance and aggressively connecting your lips again, a hand coming up to your hair as he cupped the back of your head.
“Jake.” You gasped into his mouth and he tensed for a few seconds before humming in question. “Please touch me.”
He was pulling back in confusion, hesitance on his face when he glanced down at your bodies and tried to understand what part of yours you were referring to. You laughed softly at his expression and gestured to your exposed skin as an answer.
His pretty face was flushing bright red as he nodded with a suddenly determined look on his face, you found it cute he was seemingly preparing himself to touch you.
You kissed him again to try and keep his mind off of it for now, letting him push back into you and turn his head slightly so you could kiss deeper and deeper. Jake’s movements were quick and eager, desperate for you to keep going even when he wasn’t quite sure where you were planning to take things during times like this.
His blind trust in you felt good and you felt a sick sense of satisfaction at the knowledge he’d do anything you asked with little to no question.
His big warm hands were touching you finally now, spread against your back in a stiff position as he tried to get used to being with you like this. You could tell he wasn’t focusing on kissing anymore and just mindlessly following along as he started to rub your skin with a new found fascination.
“Quit being so cute.” You mumbled against his mouth and he breathed a laugh.
“Can’t help it.” He teased back and he was pleased when you chuckled softly, rarely laughing in general let alone at one of his jokes. “I could do this forever.”
His sudden confession stumped you and you tried to not visibly show the affect him saying that had on you, a soft blush rising to your cheeks. He didn’t even seem to register what he was saying, mindlessly speaking in a content tone as the two of you laid close together.
“Forevers a long time.” You whispered back eventually and you kissed him again briefly, shifting on top of him so he could breathe a little. He wasn’t complaining about your weight on him at all, liking the feeling of being underneath you.
“Not nearly long enough if you ask me.” He was blushing too now and you were sure the pair of you looked like any regular couple on vacation, in love with no responsibilities and naive to the world around you.
“Do you mean that?” A wave of insecurity hit you when you asked and he looked at you incredulously, like he couldn’t fathom why you wouldn’t believe him.
He was kissing your forehead in a manner far sweeter than what you were just doing, a hand leaving your back to brush your hair from your face gently and cup your cheek. It was strange being on the receiving end of movements you normally did to him, tensing slightly as he touched you. “Why wouldn’t I mean that?”
“I don’t know.” You shrugged and mumbled although you certainly did have an idea of where your thought process was stemming from. You remembered who he was briefly, the knowledge you could tell him and he wouldn’t judge you or get upset resurfacing. “I’m the only one you’ve even been with.”
“So you think I picked you because you were there and taught me stuff?” He whispered in an understanding tone, trying to make sense of what you were implying without being accusatory.
You nodded hesitantly and he frowned, caressing your cheek. It was strange to be so vulnerable for you and you hoped he wasn’t too thrown off by your change of demeanor, feeling stupid suddenly for pausing your actions to bring this up.
He was kissing you again, quickly like he was trying to ground you back to reality and you met his gaze.
“I’d choose you no matter the circumstances.” He finally said and your eyes softened at his firm voice that left no room for question. “If we met 100 years from now I would have chose you.”
“That’s dramatic.” You smiled down at him and his thumb was wiping high up on your cheekbone, making you realize you’d been teary eyed. “What if you were married?”
He pretended to think for a few seconds, raising an eyebrow in contemplation before smiling and flipping you over so he was on top of you now. You were laughing as you turned, a big toothy grin on your face at his antics and he steadied himself over you.
“If I was married,” He started and you nodded in anticipation, biting your lip to stop from smiling at him. “Well I wouldn’t marry anybody but you.”
You groaned at his cop out answer and he leaned down to kiss your nose as it scrunched up. “That’s cheating, answer like you’re married.”
“Tell me what you’d do.” You rolled your eyes as he changed the subject onto you but you still genuinely thought it over, watching him with a careful expression.
He was still leaning over you with a smile on his face, his cheeks slightly red from blushing earlier or maybe the cold. His hair was flopping into his forehead and you briefly wondered if he’d ever worn his hair like this before you met, before you left home.
“I’d only marry you too.” You were whispering and his smile fell slightly as he looked at the serious expression on your face. Then it was coming back and he was attacking your face with his lips causing you to squeal and move around frantically underneath him.
After his attack he was kissing you normally and you took in a deep breath, wrapping your arms around his back and hugging him tight against you.
You kissed like that for a while longer, weirdly slow and sweet unlike every time previously and you felt slightly giddy at the innocence of just wanting to be close to each other despite being the most naked you’d ever been together.
“Let’s go get dinner.” You were saying into a kiss after a bit had passed and he nodded his head, kissing you one more time before sitting up and helping you do the same.
He didn’t look at you as you moved from under him and stood beside the bed, trying to find your discarded shirt that got lost somewhere in the covers. You watched him avoid your side of the room with a half smirk, wondering if he had looked at you at all this entire time.
The two of you finished getting dressed, wrapping your scarf tightly around Jake’s neck before you went, and found your way back outside.
The city was busy and you awkwardly joined into the flow of foot traffic, trying to look casual and not totally out yourself as lost tourist. Eventually you got the hang of the pacing and you locked your arm in Jake’s, keeping him pulled tight to you so you didn’t separate.
You made it a few blocks before you were stopping in front of a random restaurant and you glanced at Jake who had been uncharacteristically silent the entire time. He offered you a soft nod of approval and you squeezed his arm in reassurance, assuming he was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the complete change in atmosphere.
He didn’t say anything but he gave you a small smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes and the two of you braved it into the restaurant.
He relaxed after you ordered and were able to eat, enjoying a meal and talking about your day and complaining about the travel time like you were regular people who had just gotten home for the holidays. You wondered if anybody sitting around you could overhear, if they’d be able to tell what you’d been through or piece together the bruises on Jake’s face.
After you ate you decided not to go back to the hotel just yet, exploring more of the city and stopping to enjoy views and sights you’d never seen before.
“There’s so many people.” Jake was remarking from the bench you were sitting on. It was on the outskirts of a small park that had a good view of the city and lots of other couples and families were sat around you enjoying the same thing.
“It’s kind of nice right? Nobody is paying any attention to us.” You were fidgeting with your scarf that he was wearing as you spoke and he nodded softly. “Maybe we can call Heeseung tonight.”
He glanced at you with excited eyes and you smiled affectionately at him, patting his cheek softly and avoiding the bruising.
You sat there for a while longer before the cold settled in even more as it got dark, so you stood slowly and pulled him up with you. The two of you made your way back to the hotel and you felt a lot more content than you had when you originally arrived, more familiar with the area and pacing now that you’d had time to explore and take it all in.
When you got back inside and took off your shoes and jackets, Jake was racing to the hotel phone and dialing in the Lee’s number.
He sat there holding his breath as it dialed and you watched him from the bed, knowing when his eyes widened and a bright smile broke out on his face that somebody had picked up on the other side.
You went and took a shower while they talked animatedly and by the time you came out they were still going, although when he caught sight of you draped in towels, Jake was thrusting the phone in your direction with a grin as he awkwardly avoiding looking at you.
“Hello?” You hesitantly spoke into the phone, something you weren’t quite used to considering the fact you didn’t really have anybody you needed to call back home, most people being less than a ten minute bike ride away from you at all times.
“Hey Y/N.” Heeseung’s low voice was cracking through the phone speaker and you smiled softly although he couldn’t see it. “I just wanted to see how you were doing, I didn’t expect you guys to actually call honestly.”
“Of course we’d call.” You shook your head and sat down on the bed next to Jake who tensed slightly because of your bare skin.
“Yeah that’s what Jake said.” He let out a breathy laugh and you could hear him fidgeting with something like he was nervous. “So um, my mom said that if you wanted and if the trip wasn’t too bad maybe you guys could come back here for Christmas?”
You didn’t say anything and the phone line went silent, the low buzzing of static being the only noise you could hear other than your heart beating quickly. He cleared his throat on the other side like he was worried you hadn’t heard him.
“Like,” Your voice cracked and you felt Jake’s hand on your knee. “Spend Christmas with you guys?”
“Well yeah but only if you want to and if you found a job by then my mom can help you look for housing in your price range, she’s really good at that, then you wouldn’t need to stay in hotel anymore. Not that there’s anything wrong with staying in a hotel, Jake said there might even be a pool which is super cool, but you know just so-“
“Heeseung.” You cut him off and he sucked in a deep breath, falling off into a mumble after he realized he had been rambling nonstop. “I think that’d be really great.”
You felt Jake sway against your side, leaning into you and you gave him a small smile, feeling a lot better now that you had a place to go for the holidays.
Heeseung and you talked for a few minutes longer, Jake listening in from beside you and occasionally adding his own comments as he tiredly rubbed his eyes and yawned a few times. You eventually said goodnight and the two of you promised you’d call again as soon as things were settled, hanging up the phone and crawling back into bed.
“Are you not going to get dressed?”
Jake was mumbling with a small blush on his face and you were shrugging, hearing the pillow crinkle under your movements.
“Do I need to get dressed?” You whispered back, raising an eyebrow in his direction and drinking in the way his eyes shot down to your towel and then back up to your face quickly like he hadn’t meant to do it.
He didn’t say anything but he was moving over towards you on the bed, climbing over you so he could hover there as he leaned down to kiss you urgently. You laughed against his lips at his sudden movements and you felt him poke your side because of your teasing.
It was easy to forget where you were in that moment, how uncertain things were and how much harder they’d get once this night was passed and you needed to start getting your life together on your own for the first time. You didn’t think about how far you were from home or the consequences of getting caught.
You laid there in bed, kissing a boy who had given up his faith for you and he warmed you even as the snow started to fall just outside the hotel window.
It’d never felt so easy to have skin on skin.
" Hehe" you giggled with the cutest squeaks as you wore your white puffy jacket. It was an oversized one which made you look like a fluffy snowball……
" You look beautiful" Jake came from behind. The sight of yours with a short yellow skirt and a jacket made him feel as if he'd just seen an angel landing on the earth. You snorted at his words, he was too good at words anyways.
" Truly my love, have I ever lied?" " Didn't you warn me freshly this morning that men are liars and I should be careful" your playfulness gleamed the eyes, that genuine gummy smile?
" Oh really, then you should've listened" " Jake what are you-"Jake instantly starts pulling your cheeks. You tried pushing his hands but oh well, he was sturdy like a rock.
" You're such a bully… hump" you rolled your eyes while your hands crossed at your chest. " Oh my baby, I love you" Jake's smiley lips pressed against your cheeks, leaving a peppery kiss with tingling butterflies. In an instant your anger melts away, leaving only the beatings of your heart.
" same here" you hugged him as your noses brushed against each other.
" excuse me, miss-I'm so sorry, please continue" the worker came in. And what can we say, your face was embedded with redness.
" Haha, oh my God" jake starts to guffaw loudly." shut it" you hit his chest yet he just laughs louder. And that's how it's like to live with a golden retriever….
“We should compare hand sizes.”
You averted your gaze from the sea and raised an eyebrow at the boy lounging beside you. “Really?”
Jake hummed, his eyes following a crab that was skittering several feet away from where you were seated. He was lying down with his legs stretched out in front of him, his elbows propped up to support his upper body weight.
There was barely anyone on the beach. One of the town’s biggest events was commencing at sundown and everyone was busy getting ready for it. Jake wanted some alone time with you before the festivities began, so he had dragged you to the shore to watch the sunset with him.
The cool evening air ruffled his fluffy hair, and you bit down on the urge to run your hand through the soft strands. It was a beautiful sight, really, watching him be at peace with nary a care in the world.
Tucking your knees under your chin, you rested your cheek on them. “Did you run out of ideas already?”
“Old is gold,” he quipped, finally sliding his eyes to meet yours. A mischievous smile adorned his lips as he said, “Though we can try something else if you want; how do you feel about comparing feet sizes?”
You laughed, shoving his shoulder playfully. “You’re impossible.”
Jake snorted. Pointing at himself, he feigned disbelief. “I am impossible? You are the one who keeps playing hard to get. I’ve been trying to woo you for over two weeks.”
“Giving up already?” you teased and pointed out, “I told you I wasn’t going to make things easy for you.”
You’d met Jake at the start of your break. Spending summer vacation at your grandma’s home was an old tradition for your family, but you hadn’t been able to visit the previous year due to a multitude of reasons.
On the day of your arrival, you’d exited the car and sprinted into the beach house even before your dad could stop the vehicle fully. You hadn’t seen your Nana in so long—your excitement obviously knew no bounds.
However, instead of finding her, you had come face-to-face with a strange blonde boy unloading groceries on the kitchen island.
Your first encounter with Jake had been horribly embarrassing. His soft, boyish features had thrown you off.
Literally.
You had tripped over your own feet when your gazes locked. Thankfully, he’d proven to be someone with good reflexes and caught you before you could fall.
Your Nana, upon hearing the commotion, had rushed inside (from the garden out back, you’d assumed) and gotten introductions out of the way.
Jake Sim and his family had only recently moved into the house next door. His parents, after a successful career, had seeked early retirement and taken sanctuary in the small town of Rockcrest.
Jake, apparently, surfed and ran errands for your grandma when he wasn’t busy doing his summer job as a waiter at the golf course.
The two of you befriended each other and started hanging out, only to discover that you actually had a lot in common.
For instance, both of you had the terrible habit of betting on things to prove to other people that you were right. One thing led to the next, and here you were now, risking your prized possessions yet again to win another bet.
If Jake couldn’t manage to make you fall for him in the span of three weeks, he would have to surrender his DSLR. But if he did make you fall, you’d have to hand over the signed first edition copy of your favorite book.
The stakes weren’t nearly as scary as the dangerous game you were playing. Though, you supposed, there wasn’t really anything to be afraid of.
The damage was already done. You’d fallen for Jake long before the bet came into existence.
Why, then, did you agree to his conditions?
Jake Sim was cocky. He was overconfident. If given the chance, he was sure he could convince you to be his girlfriend.
Admitting that you were already head over heels for him would have been embarrassing. It would have implied that he’d managed to have an effect on you without even trying. No way were you going to allow that to happen.
So, you let him try. You let him hold your hand. You let him hug you. You let him take you out on dates. You let him kiss the corners of your lips and do all sorts of cheesy things.
You let him in.
Each moment you spent with him made you open up to him more and more. Not only did Jake know your dreams and the things that made you happy, but he was also aware of your insecurities, fears and sorrows.
You didn’t even care about the bet anymore. Your pride and competitiveness could go down the drain for all you cared. You only had two months left before school began; time was of absolute essence.
“Jake—”
“Why would I give up when I know I’ve already won the bet?” he interrupted, answering your question. His eyes bored into yours and you felt your heart rate pick up. “Why would I accept defeat after I’ve managed to make you fall for me?”
Your mouth parted open in surprise. You could only stare at Jake dumbfoundedly as he stood up and dusted himself off, offering you a hand. “You might have done your best to keep up the pretense, Y/N, but I noticed your slip-ups.”
“Since when have you known?” you whispered, slipping your hand into his and allowing him to pull you to your feet. He didn’t let go, though. He only intertwined your fingers and caressed your face.
“A few days into the bet,” Jake answered, his gaze darting between your eyes and mouth, as if he had a hard time not looking at the latter. “I was reaching for a bottle behind you, but you thought I was going in for a kiss.”
Your cheeks burned with embarrassment. You hadn’t realised he’d known.
“Sorry for disappointing you then,” he mumbled. “Can I make it up to you now?”
You couldn’t believe your ears. Breath hitching in your throat, all you could do was nod. But Jake wasn’t having it. Tracing your bottom lip with his thumb, he whispered, “Use your words, princess.”
You exhaled shakily. “Make it up to me, Jake.”
And then his lips were on yours. His arm snaked around your waist, pulling you impossibly closer. Tilting his neck to the side, Jake deepened the kiss.
You thought you had died and gone to Paradise.
Your heart swelled with happiness and contentment, and if it weren’t for Jake’s thumb caressing your face in a comforting manner, you might have exploded into an array of light.
All your other senses dulled and for the first time in your life, you realised what it was like to live in the moment. To enjoy it so thoroughly that everything else becomes meaningless.
Out of breath due to the sheer euphoria you were experiencing, you broke the kiss and rested your forehead against his.
“Y/N?” Jake murmured. “Can I ask you something?”
You slowly opened your eyes in response and stared into his hopeful ones.
“Will you accompany me to the festival as my girlfriend?”
“Have a nice day, Y/n!”
You heard your father's voice fading away as you closed the car door behind you. Normally, you took the bus to class like many others at your school, but that day your father had offered to take you since he had his morning free. You were so grateful, you didn't spend much time with your father because of his work and your class schedules, so it was a little moment that you had together. You were also grateful that he took you because you had your head somewhere else and maybe the bus would pass by and you would have to walk, which didn't bother you either because that would give you time to think a little more.
When you entered the door of the institution, the first thing you saw from a distance was Jaeyun with his body leaning against one of the walls, completely immersed in whatever he was seeing on his phone screen. You felt your legs shake and your stomach turn when you saw him standing there, the last time you had seen him or talked to him had been at the party right after you guys kissed so you still didn't know how to deal with it. Despite having been tossing and turning in your bed all night and creating possible scenarios in your mind, you had not found a solution to your nerves. You knew you were exaggerating because you were neither the first nor the last friends in the world to kiss, but no matter how much you wanted to act naturally, your nerves were against you, you were not used to that "crazy" teenage life so that you didn't know how to act about it. Although you knew that at some point you would meet Jaeyun, it didn't help that Yeji's words had settled in your mind, making you notice how he treated you differently from the rest. Without being seen, you deviated from your path and were internally grateful that the school had more than one entrance and you could avoid the boy for the moment. As you walked, looking back towards where Jaeyun had been out of your field of vision, your body collided with another making you stagger in your place, your body was held firmly by a pair of strong arms.
"Are we destined to collide everywhere?" Sunghoon's voice had a hint of amusement.
"I'm sorry" you had your eyes closed tightly due to the impact and your hands rested on Sunghoon's chest, being able to slightly feel his heartbeat under your palms.
"Where were you going so fast, pretty? Who are you running away from?" You opened your eyes in surprise and Sunghoon laughed when he noticed your look. "Oh, you're really running away from someone!"
“I’m not running away from anyone” you muttered to yourself. You analyzed the position you were in and noticed that your hands were still on the black-haired boy's body and he surrounded you with his arms, looking comfortable enough to separate from you. You pushed him a little harder than you expected and your cheeks took on a strong red color. Sunghoon gently cleared his throat and ran his hand through his hair feigning indifference.
"Have you seen Jake? I think he said he was at the door" he asked, his gaze dropping to his black shoes so as not to meet your gaze.
"N-no, I didn't run into him" you stammered "I don't know where he is, I haven't seen him" you denied several times. You didn't know how to lie. Sunghoon raised both eyebrows in surprise, noticing how strange you were acting, but he decided not to ask you so he wouldn't make you more nervous than you already seemed.
"Okay, then" Sunghoon was silent for a few seconds, noticing how tense the atmosphere was. "So, I'll see you at lunch, right?"
"Yes, of course!" You exclaimed, nodding and took the opportunity to run away from the black-haired man, saying goodbye with those words, fleeing away from his judging gaze and going straight to your first class of the morning. Sunghoon stood in his place watching you leave after your hurried words and thought about how you were actually dodging someone. Deep down in his mind he knew who you were avoiding and he could also imagine why, but for some reason he chose not to think about it.
(***)
During your first class you continued with your head in the clouds, the seat next to you was free since Yeji had chosen to sit with Riki at the back desk, it didn't bother you since the black-haired girl always sat next to you and also, you were distracted enough to strike up a conversation with her. The class was ending, luckily you had been able to concentrate completely and divert your thoughts for at least two hours. Now that class was ending, you were starting to think again about what awaited you at lunch. The chair next to you squeaked and you jumped, your gaze drifting to the boy sitting next to you.
“Jungwon” you sighed in relief.
"Hi Y/n" the cat-eyed boy smiled at you and his eyes narrowed slightly, you smiled at the image. Jungwon was very cute.
"You know Jungwon-" you felt like you owed him an explanation since you never talked to him to refuse or agree to go out with him on a date. The boy knew where the conversation was going, so he denied several times with his hands up, appearing carefree.
"Don't worry, I'm not here to look for answers or pressure you" he let out a calm laugh "In fact, I wanted to tell you not to worry and not be forced to answer me, I understand that just because you've just moved you're busy with your things and having a date it's very sudden." You looked at him with a little surprise, not only because of how understanding the boy was, but in reality you didn't agree to go out with him because you didn't feel so comfortable, and currently, with so many things on your mind, even less so. But you obviously couldn't tell him that and you chose to let him believe what he had said.
“Thank you for understanding, Jungwon” you smiled at him.
"I hope we can really be friends" the boy added "and that one day we can go out... as friends."
"Be sure" you nodded enthusiastically.
"Hey y/n" Yeji's voice sounded behind you after the boy left and you turned your head, watching as the black-haired girl and your friend got up from their places "Let's go to lunch."
"Sure, you guys can go ahead, I have something to do here" that was a lie, but you wanted to buy some time before entering the cafeteria with your group that was waiting for you. Your friends looked at each other and Riki shrugged his shoulders, they both knew why you were wasting time, but decided not to pressure you and left the place direct to get their long-awaited lunches.
You left the classroom and chose another path than usual, you would skip lunch just for that day and go find a quiet place to stay before your next class, that was your plan for the moment while everything was still fresh and your nerves were still altered. Sometimes you hated your mind, you hated being insecure and mainly you hated when things got out of your control and you didn't know how to handle situations, or in this case, your feelings. The planning that you put so much thought into did not last long when an arm tugged on yours and you were pulled into an empty hallway on one side of the classrooms at the end of the hallway. Your heart raced and your eyes squeezed shut, as your back leaned against the cold wall.
“Y/n, please” Your eyes flew open and Jaeyun was looking at you, his expression hard to read. You didn’t know if he was angry, regretful, or happy to see you. Your heart skipped a beat “I know you’ve been avoiding me all this time, would you tell me why?"
Your heart fell to your feet, clearly Jaeyun was no fool and he was going to quickly realize that you had been avoiding him the entire time you could have met. You also thought that he had met Sunghoon and he might have told him that he talked to you at the entrance.
"I'm sorry" you didn't want to look him in the eye. "I really don't know how to react, I don't know why I'm so embarrassed. I'm so stupid."
"Do you regret it?"
"No!" that question made you look him in the eyes as you answered him to make sure he believed you and Jaeyun smiled at you feeling relieved by your words "But I was afraid that you were."
"Y/n, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you for days" he gently held your hands and pressed them against his chest, you felt the beating of his heart "I can't stop thinking about how beautiful you were that night and how how beautiful you always are, I couldn't wait to see you again and kiss you until I'm tired."
“Jaeyun” your cheeks were blushing at his comments.
"Can I kiss you again?" Your eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected question and you looked around afraid that someone else was there or heard him, but since it was lunch time the hallway was deserted "Please." he asked. He had his bottom lip caught between his teeth and his hands moved your brown hair that fell over your face.
"But" Jaeyun looked at you expectantly for your next words "We're at school, don't you think it's wrong?"
"Honestly, I don't care" he laughed and denied. You blinked a couple of times and without knowing why, you just nodded shyly giving him permission, the words didn't come out. No, you really knew why, you wanted to kiss again the attractive boy in front of you.
Your body shook when Jaeyun crashed his warm lips against yours, his arms wrapping around you tightly as if he felt like your legs would give out at any moment. You felt the desperation with which the boy kissed you, completely different from the night of the party when he had been so soft with you, but he was still gentle enough with you to make you feel comfortable in his embrace. A wave of heat enveloped your body as you continued to kiss, Jaeyun feeling like he couldn't get enough of you as he held you tightly to himself, his stomach filled with butterflies as your hands ran over his chest and your arms wrapped around his neck gently.
"Wait" you separated from him quickly, with the constant thought that someone could be watching you and you could get in trouble, but he completely ignored your words and attached his lips to yours again, one of his hands held your cheek, giving you light caresses, as if telling you not to worry "Jaeyun!" You exclaimed under your breath, letting out a laugh as the boy squeezed your waist with the hand he was holding you and tickled your body.
"Damn, you're so beautiful" the boy was extremely happy, giggling and hugging you to him, not wanting to let you go.
You suddenly felt self-conscious about your own feelings and slowly backed away from the boy, not wanting to be abrupt and make him uncomfortable. Jaeyun didn't miss your gaze, which had fallen to the ground between you.
"Y/n, look at me" the boy held your face and looked into your eyes, in the most reassuring way he could "Don't feel bad, it's okay. Don't worry about something like that, we kiss and we can still be friends and, we can keep kissing and laughing like this. I'll be happy with whatever you want to do." But you carefully analyzed the expression of the boy in front of you, his lips were red and his eyes were shining with excitement, his grip firm on your waist as he caressed it gently, you were afraid that things would escalate and someone would get hurt just by kissing, like he had said.
"Don't force yourself to think of this as something more, we are friends and we will remain friends no matter what happens" Jaeyun reassured you and you nodded, this time looking up and looking into his eyes giving him a smile, Jaeyun approached you and gently kissed your cheek when he noticed that you had nodded calmly and understood his words. He swore that you could be friends, but that wouldn't stop the feelings that were quickly starting to grow inside of you that he didn't want to stop.
(***)
"Hey, you two" Sunghoon had his brow furrowed "Where were you? Lunch time is almost over, we weren't going to wait for you, we were starving."
The three of them had already finished their lunch as they enjoyed the last five minutes before they had to return to their classes. You and Jaeyun entered the cafeteria together after having waited a few minutes, obviously letting go of your hands first although Jaeyun refused to let you, not wanting to let go of the amount of serotonin you caused him. You laughed when the boy refused to let go of your hand and unexpectedly placed short kisses on your delicate face before entering the cafeteria. Riki and Yeji looked at each other in surprise and they both stifled a giggle when you gave them a 'don't even think about saying anything' look. Sunghoon looked at you all strangely, aware that he was missing something, but he chose not to comment when he saw you avoid his gaze without concealment. You felt really bad about hiding things from Sunghoon since he was the only one in the group who didn't know what had happened between you and Jaeyun, but at the same time, for some reason you didn't want him to find out.
"We met on the way here" Jaeyun broke the awkward silence as he sat next to the black-haired boy, without erasing the smile from his face "We stayed talking and time passed, that's all" followed, he looked at you and surreptitiously gave you a wink, you just cleared your throat and ignored him, sitting next to Yeji who couldn't help but laugh when she noticed your looks, earning a nudge from Riki. Sunghoon looked at his sister still with his frown, but he decided to ignore her and his gaze focused on you and Jaeyun who held each other's gaze without saying anything, acting strange.
When lunch was over, each one headed to their respective class without saying anything about it. You spent the rest of the day thinking about your encounter with the boy and your body was electrified by the images playing in your mind, feeling confused and at the same time, a little happy about what you were experiencing with Jaeyun, who was the sweetest and most polite boy you could have ever met.
But You're Not Allowed, She's Got You Under Lock and Chain - Jake Imagine (Sweetbitter)
Tumblr media
Title: But You're Not Allowed, She's Got You Under Lock and Chain
Pairing: Jake (Sweetbitter) X Reader
Word Count: 1,406 words
Warning(s): heavily implied smut, implied is being incredibly generous, making out
Summary: (Inspired by "what a shame" by Lizzy McAlpine) (Y/n) is tired of those brief moments with Jake that led to nothing but confusion. When they finally put their foot down, will Jake actually act on very obvious tension?
Author's Note: I already wrote an imagine inspired by this song back when I did a writing challenge for the entire album, but I could not shake this idea. "what a shame" is Jake's song.
Oh, and I could use some different Jake gifs, if that isn't too much to ask (even though this gif did help me a lot when writing this)
-------------------------
Jake's game started off small.
Staring at times. Smirking at me whenever he was caught. Maybe a quick wink when I grabbed a tray of drinks.
I ignored it. I figured it was meant to be playful.
It slowly escalated.
Simply staring and smirking turned into very clear innuendos. His hand would start touching mine when I grabbed drinks.
It was flirting.
I started returning the favor. The jokes and the touches. He was attractive. Really attractive. I liked having the attention. He seemed to like the attention.
It all just kept going. Kept getting more intense.
There was one night where the staff had seemingly gathered around the bar. I was in the back, just getting ready to head out for the night.
"Hello."
I jumped when I heard Jake's voice.
"Calm down," he said as he stepped over. "You always so tense?"
I chuckled. "Don't get a ton of time to... unwind."
"I see...," he stepped closer, reaching his hand out. His fingertips dragged along my lower back.
I bit my lip. I wasn't lying. I didn't get a lot of time to enjoy myself.
"Maybe you need to find someone that'll make sure you're taken care of," his low voice felt like it wrapped around me.
"Have any suggestions?"
"Maybe one..."
"Is that so?"
"Maybe."
Before I could ask any more questions, Jake walked away.
I took a shaky breath.
Those events kept happening. The moments alone. Flirting and light touching. He'd get close enough to me that my knees would feel weak. I would be ready to do anything he said. As long as I got him.
I remembered his finger gently tapping on my shoulder while sitting together at a booth. I remembered him tilting my head gently to check my neck after a customer tried to grab me. I remembered him "getting pushed" so close to me that his lips brushed a patch of my skin.
Jake was my biggest weakness. And I adored every moment of that feeling.
As those events continued and grew into more ambitious moments, it became clear to me that there was something holding him back.
He'd watch my lips but keep himself from kissing me. Tease me, but not allow himself to go any further. Make flirtatious or sexual comments but never act on any of them.
It didn't take me long after that to notice Simone's attachment. I noticed their relationship. How they interacted. He listened to everything she said. She had some kind of control over him. He liked to pretend she didn't, but it was clear as day.
I kept my mouth shut about it for so long. I was trying to keep the peace, I guess.
And then, I got tired.
A few of us had gone out together.
Jake and I had been playing the same game as we usually did, but tonight it was different. I was tired. Each touch wasn't a shock, but a damn wildfire. It was driving me insane.
I stepped away to go to the bathroom. On my way back, Jake found me. He stopped me. I didn't bother listening to him. He stepped close enough that I could almost feel the body heat rolling off of him. His cologne was intoxicating.
"Okay, stop," I muttered after a bit.
"What," Jake furrowed his eyebrows.
"You're irritating," I explained. "You say all this little thing. Flirty. You'll do this thing where you touch my arm or my back or my sides. But you will never do anything about it."
He didn't speak.
"And I get it," I shrugged, not even thinking about how much I probably should've shut my mouth. "Simone has some weird control over you. What? Does she decide who you sleep with? Or is it just a permission thing? Tell me. Do I have to ask her to allow me to sleep with you? Because I really don't want to do that. So, just tell me now."
"You think Simone has control over who I sleep with?"
"Yeah," I replied. "I really do. Because she'll whisper in your ear and then you're suddenly fine with fucking someone. It's not subtle. I would... I would just like a bit of honesty. Stop playing this little game because I am tired."
"What do you want from me," he asked. "Without ranting."
I took a deep breath. "I want to know what you want. Not what anyone else wants or allows you to do... what do you want?"
His eyes dragged along the length of my body. But he still didn't move. He didn't speak. I sighed and patted his chest a few times.
"Let me know when Simone drops the leash."
I walked away from him.
I didn't turn back around as I left the building, waving at a couple of people on my way. I didn't make it far out the door before my elbow was grabbed.
I panicked as I was dragged into the alley next to the building.
"Hey, let go-"
I was ready to swing but stopped when I saw it was Jake.
"Don't grab people randomly in New York City at night."
"You wanna know what I want," he asked, completely ignoring what I had said. "You wanna know so bad?"
I took a deep breath to calm down. "Yes."
There was another pause. A matter of seconds that felt like hours. I didn't move. I didn't speak. I let Jake have complete control over the moment.
He grabbed the sides of my face before yanking me toward him. I let out a shocked sound before I started kissing him back. He moved forward, pushing me back against the wall of the building. I grabbed at the edge of his jacket, trying to pull him even closer. That wasn't possible, but I was still trying.
I had never imagined a kiss being so frantic.
Jake was guarded, and well known for being that way. But this... this was a different story. He kissed like a man that had been deprived. A man that had been deprived and was craving something. I wonder if I seemed the same way. I didn't mind if I did.
I heard a whine fall from my lips as he pulled away.
In any other situation, I would've been embarrassed. But then, pressed against the wall of a bar, making out with the man that I had wanted for months, I found myself not caring.
He continued kissing me, now giving me a small pause in between each kiss.
"You," he grumbled between kisses. "You're what I want."
He grabbed my jaw, holding me still so I had to look him in the eye. I bit back a moan at the grip he had.
"Are you going to give me what I want?"
I hummed.
He let go of my jaw before leaning down to kiss the skin of my neck. My hands fell on his upper arms, gripping a little tighter as he did.
"Anything," I said quickly. "Anything you want, I can handle it."
He leaned back, looking me in the eye again. "Is that so?"
"Why don't you let me prove it?"
A small noise seemed to work its way out of his throat. "I like the sound of that."
The last completely clear thought I had was Jake pushing me against the inside of my apartment door and pressing his lips to my neck again.
The rest of the night felt like a jumble. An amazing jumble, but a jumble, nevertheless.
I woke up the next morning to see Jake pulling his clothes on. He looked over when he spotted me shifting out of the corner of his eye. A smirk was tugging at his lips.
I sat up, smiling back at him. "Morning."
"Morning," his eyes dragged along my body.
"What do you want," I asked, very clearly trying to tempt him.
He chuckled, walking over to the bed. I bit my lip as he leaned down, one hand on either side of me.
"Wanna see you again tonight," he muttered, brushing his lips to mine.
"I can accommodate that," I replied.
"Really?"
"Definitely," I said, shifting to instead kiss his jaw. "Anything you want. I promise."
He hummed before pulling away. "I'll see you at work."
I nodded.
I watched him walk out, waiting to hear the apartment door shut before I let out a heavy breath.
"Holy shit."
