A natural technique yogis use to stay disease free and most importantly to use their breath well for their yogic practices without any blocks. It is all about nasal hygiene just like brushing teeth is about dental hygiene. It is a technique used to clean the sinuses.

Hello Himanshu, I am very grateful for what you're doing with your blog. I want to ask you something. About 7 months ago I did a Jala Neti cleansing. I did it wrong because ever since, a liquid remained in my inner ear (I hear a crackling sound at every swallow) I have no pain however. If I do Neti again, it dissapears for about 1 minute and reapears after. Can you please share some insight into this. Maybe asanas, pranayama or some elements balancing are necessary. Thanks a lot. Love & Respect
Jal Neti is a cleansing technique that effectively clears the nasal passages. However, there is a risk of infection in ENT passage if water is not drained out. Bacterial or fungal infection in the ear or sinus cavity is possible. First, you need to re learn Jal Neti from a trained Yoga instructor. Use warm saline water for doing Neti. Kapalbhati or short burst of Bhastrika is to be performed after neti. This clears any liquid left in the nasal and ear cavity. As you already have some accumulated liquid in the ear, you must get rid of this by applying acupressure on tip of little finger of both hands and feet. Swimming instructors teach this technique for clearing water from ears to their students. Also try Shunya mudra for 15 minutes and check if it helps. Further, I recommend that you should see ENT specialist if liquid remains for long. A short dose of antibiotic or sulphur based drug will relieve that. Love & Regards
