Jaskier and Mr.-Zero-Fucking-Body-Fat
Jaskier woke up in a mood. A bad kinda mood. A self hating mood. Thank goodness he has an awesome boyfriend.
Geralt was coming back to the apartment when Jaskier was getting up. Geralt had gone on a morning run and grabbed donuts on his way back. When he walked into the bedroom to get a shower he saw his boyfriend standing in front of their mirror. Shirtless and frowning as he grabbed at his stomach. Jaskier had been up for a little while now. He woke up in a mood.
He hadn’t gotten dressed yet. He was still wearing what he sleeps in, a pair of soft cotton short shorts. He just stood staring at himself.
“Fat. Ugly. Hairy. Gross. Gross. Bleh. Fat fat fat. Lose some weight. Undesirable. Disgusting. Cover up. Cover it. Don’t eat tod-“
“Hey baby, how about we get a shower?” Geralt said to try and pull Jaskier away from those intrusive thoughts. Geralt knew about Jaskier and his body image issues. Geralt came up behind his lover and wrapped his arms around Jaskier’s sternum.
Jaskier laid his head back onto Geralt’s shoulder and took a big breathe, clearing his head. He held it for a moment before breathing out.
“No thank you, dear. I’ll get a shower after you get out. You can eat breakfast while I wash up.” Jaskier removed Geralt’s hands. He just wanted to put in his sweatpants and his oversized hoodie and just not be seen. Especially not by Mister Zero-Fucking-Body-Fat.
“I’ll make you breakfast Jask. You can go back to bed if you’d like. We can have a lazy day.” Geralt said as he ran his hand down Jaskier back before he turned to the bathroom.
“Thank you, love.” Jaskier sighed. God that man will be the death of him. Jaskier grabbed his hoodie and his sweats and a clean pair of underwear. He heard Geralt start the shower.
A short while later Geralt came out with a towel around his hips and quickly put on his sweatpants and a black shirt that wasn’t too snug. He knew he should wear looser clothes when Jask was in these moods.
“You get a shower and I’ll bring you breakfast in here. If you want to you could queue something up?” Geralt kissed his boyfriends forehead before leaving.
Jaskier got to the bathroom and tried not to look in the mirror. He quickly took off his shorts and got in the shower.
He washed as quickly as he could so he could get covered back up. He didn’t even wash his hair.
Soon he was in his sweats and hoodie and back on bed queuing up a show on Netflix.
Geralt walked in with a tray of food. Nothing that would bother Jaskier. Mostly cut fruit and yogurt.
“Here. C’mere I wanna hold you. Love you so much. My pretty perfect loverboy.” Geralt said as he held his arms open for Jaskier to cuddle to him. Jaskier cracked a smile at ‘loverboy’.
“You sure you want me too...” Jaskier looked down at himself.
“Yes Jask come here. I always wanna hug and cuddle you” Jaskier nodded and laid his back against Geralt’s chest and sat between his legs, tray of food in his lap.
They started to play Evil on Netflix and Jaskier ate a bit of this and that, not nearly enough.
“Want me to feed you, baby bear?”
“What did you just call me?” Jaskier turned to see Geralt’s face.
“Baby Bear. ‘Cause your cuddly and perfect and you’re my precious baby bear.” Geralt said very matter of factly.
Jaskier blushed and nodded.
Geralt picked up a piece of banana and held it up for Jaskier.
That’s how the morning went. Geralt feeding his baby bear pieces of fruit and spoons of yogurt while Jaskier smiled and fell even more in love with his boyfriend.

NYE at the bar
I missed my Inked Up Idiots and my old bar so yall get a little self indulgent drabble for the holiday lol
warnings: unwanted advances, protective geralt, its pretty tame tho, we got some cuteness too.
____________
“Pounder and two buckets,” Geralt shouted over his shoulder to Jask, who promptly pulled down one tall pint glass and two shorter glasses from the shelves behind him. Jask had sat his ass in the same spot on the bar for four years in a row, washing and drying dishes for Geralt, and he wasn’t going to bread tradition this year.
Geralt had a line at least 20 people deep almost all night but the clock said 11:50, which meant it was almost next year and almost last call. Jaskier was practically giddy.
He wiggled and danced along to the music as he dried glasses and lined them up on the counter. Customers would drop their glasses behind him and he would load them up in the rack.
One decided to put a hand on his hip and slur something about ringing in the new year but only got halfway through their proposition before Geralt had pulled Jask off the counter, “Hands off.”
Jask placed his hand on his chest, “Go back to your drinks, I’m okay.”
Geralt growled and kissed him on the forehead before he turned back to his station.
The customer was already disappearing into the crowd with their tail between their legs. If anyone wasn’t intimidated by Geralt and his angry scowl and all his monster tattoos, then Jask might be worried. But his husband looked quite the formidable character, even if he was a big softie. People finally started filing through the other lines handing out little plastic champagne flutes and Geralt had a moment to sit on the dishwasher for the first time all night.
Jask came to stand between his legs and massaged his shoulders, “Tired love?”
Geralt leaned his forehead on Jaskier’s shoulder, “Hungry.”
“I could see if Eskel has started breaking down the kitchen?” Jaskier offered, moving Geralt’s slightly sweaty hair off his neck to cool him off.
Geralt’s hands wrapped around his waist, “No, the countdown will start any second.”
Jaskier laughed, “You’ve hit cuddly tired early this year.”
“You tire me out,” Geralt teased, kissing at the floral tattoo on Jaskier’s neck and leaving a little bite below his ear.
“Technically, that was your idea. Not my fault we were late.”
“It was a good idea,” Geralt chuckled, sitting up and wrapping his legs around Jaskier’s waist, “Happy New Year, J.”
The crowd started counting down as Jaskier set his hands on Geralt’s cheeks, “Happy New Year, Sweetheart.”

The White Wolf (2/3)
Previous - Shifter!verse
Geraskier - 2.1k
TW: blood, animal death
______
Geralt gnawed at the venison shank that he gripped between his paws. Geralt had stalked a doe with ease through the forest, combining his tracker skills as a witcher and his new wolf senses. Taking the prey down had been harder. He was used to fighting with swords not his teeth and he’d tripped over his paws more than once trying to pounce but eventually dinner had been his. He tried not to think about the raw meat he was consuming but the more human part of his mind still recoiled as he tore the carcass to shreds with his teeth. He was hungry though. They hadn’t eaten since breakfast and even then it hadn’t been much.
His ears twitched as he heard a twig break nearby. He stared into the darkness of the trees, and sure enough the sound of Jaskier’s endless chatter floated through the air and Geralt could smell his honied chamomile scent from where he was resting. Geralt huffed and went back to his dinner. Jaskier would see to Roach, there was fuck all Geralt could do to help.
Jaskier burst into camp wearing one of his many doublets, judging by the shapes of the fabric it was one of his dark blue ones but for Geralt, colour was but a distant memory. Unfortunately, his hearing had only gotten better. Jaskier was humming away as he always did, until the moment he saw Geralt. Jaskier squinted at him in the darkness.
“Is that… blood?”
Geralt barked and looked over at the rest of the carcass, hoping Jask could see it in the darkness. To this surprise, Jaskier just started laughing.
“Oh wow, Geralt. It didn’t take you long to get the hang of this did it?”
Geralt let out a low growl.
“Oi, none of that. It’s a compliment!” Jaskier knelt in front of him and buried his face in Geralt’s fur.
Geralt could feel Jaskier’s fingers grip into his fur. It felt… not unpleasant, similar to how it felt when Jaskier brushed his hair. He could see why Jaskier enjoyed it so much. Geralt bumped his head against Jaskier’s and nipped at his ear.
“I missed you too, dear heart.” Jaskier kissed his nose and then began to strip off his clothes.
Geralt gave a short quick bark and tilted his head.
“I’m hungry,” Jaskier whined. “but I am not eating that as a human, my stomach wouldn’t be able to handle it.”
Geralt snorted. Jaskier’s explanation made sense. He’d never really thought about it before. Jaskier tended to just steal from Geralt’s plate when he was in animal form, although Geralt couldn’t help but remember how Jaskier had gobbled down an entire deer in one bite when he’d shifted into a dragon. He certainly wouldn’t manage that as a human, Jaskier barely finished his own plate of food when he was human.
Once Jaskier clothes were tucked into Roach’s bags and the mare was safely tied to a nearby tree, he shifted. Geralt couldn’t see the dark coppery colour of his fur but he could picture it clearly in his mind along with Jaskier’s never-changing blue eyes.
Jaskier barked happily as he landed on four paws and he pounced at Geralt. Geralt snarled as he was pushed over onto his back and Jaskier bit at his ears. Geralt tried to bat Jaskier away but the shifter was more practiced with his wolf form and Geralt was still struggling to get control of all four paws. He huffed as Jaskier’s collapsed on top of him with a howl.
Geralt howled back before he could stop himself then snapped his jaw shut with an audible clack of teeth. He snarled at Jaskier who had rolled off him onto his back and was yapping away in a sort of strange laugh. Geralt snorted and went back to his dinner, turning his back on the other wolf. Jaskier whined and trotted over to him but Geralt kept turning away. If Jaskier wanted to laugh at his misery then he could find his own deer to eat. Jaskier let another long pitiful whine and nudged Geralt’s head with his muzzle.
When Geralt looked over at him Jaskier was doing his best wolfy version of a pout, his eyes were wide and he looked miserable. Even in this form Geralt couldn’t say no to his mate. He nodded towards the rest of the meat. Jaskier barked and wagged his tail as he dug into his dinner. Geralt watched Jaskier for a few minutes, feeling oddly satisfied that he had managed to provide for them both. It had been his hunt, his kill.
The wolf instincts were different. He was still him, and he still felt human enough but there was a calmness to being a wolf that he hadn’t anticipated. It didn’t matter about coin, or lodgings, or monsters. He could just… exist. They ate in silence until they’d both had their fill, the rest of the carcass would be taken by scavengers once they’d abandoned it but it was now completely dark and the day had been long. Geralt curled up on the ground with a heavy sigh. Jaskier flopped down next to him, using his back at a pillow and wrapping his tail around Geralt’s front paws. Geralt nudged Jaskier’s back legs with his nose and let out a soft whine.
Before long they were both snoring soundly in the forest.
___________
When Jaskier woke up he was still in wolf form. It was rare for him not to change forms in his sleep. More often than not we went to bed in one form and woke up in another but Geralt’s presence as a wolf seemed to have stabilised his own instincts to shift. He’d learnt more about his shifting in the last few hours than he had in his lifetime. Even the books in Vesemir’s vast library had yielded nothing but Jaskier now knew deep down that shifters were meant to live in packs. He’d guessed that whatever form the pack leader took would dictate the forms of the others.
Part of him wondered if he’d ever met any shifters and just hadn’t managed to recognise them and he was sure no one would ever suspect a lone shifter. He couldn’t help the howl that tore from him at the break of dawn. He missed Geralt’s family. He missed his pack. They’d met up over winter but it was now nearly summer and he was so alone. Only he wasn’t alone. Geralt joined in with his howl. Jaskier cut himself off and stared at Geralt. Geralt slowly stopped his own howl and then tilted his head at Jaskier. Jaskier barked and bounded over to Geralt, licking and mouthing at his snout.
Geralt let out a low growl and bit Jaskier on the ear. He rolled over and wagged his tail before finally shifting back to human. He gazed up at Geralt his a dopey fond smile and laughed as the wolf licked his face. He buried his fingers in Geralt’s fur. “Now as adorable as you are, my darling. Shall we try and find another mage?”
Geralt nodded and butted their heads together.
“Any ideas on where to start, dear witcher?”
Geralt nodded again.
“Excellent! Let me get dressed and see to Roach, then we’ll get going, alright love?”
Geralt’s ear flicked and Jaskier took that as a yes.
___________
The Temple of Melitele had only been a few days away from the Sorcerers crumbling tower. Jaskier spent his nights as a wolf beside Geralt and his days as a human so he could keep an eye of Roach. Roach was impressively not fazed in the slightest by Geralt’s new canine look. She even seemed to recognise that the wolf was her witcher. Jaskier supposed travelling with a shifter for two years had helped. Jaskier hadn’t been sure where they were travelling until Geralt had insistently tugged at his hand, pulling him through the gates of the temple.
Nenneke had been fiercely protective of her students when Jaskier nervously approached the temple building with a fucking ginormous wolf by his side but Geralt had just laid down on the ground and wagged his tail as Nenneke stared down at him.
“Geralt of Rivia?” Nenneke asked the wolf with her hands crossed in front of her chest.
Geralt nodded.
“And you are?” Nenneke turned to Jaskier.
“Jaskier. I’m Geralt’s friend,” Geralt let out a low growl. “and partner.” He amended and scratched Geralt behind the ears. “We’re looking for a mage or sorcerer or someone who can help with umm… well.” He gestured at Geralt.
“There are no mages here, but I might know someone who will be able to help you with your predicament. How long has he been like this?”
Jaskier frowned as he counted back the days. “Four days?” He glanced at Geralt who gave a quick nod. “Four days.”
“And he still seems like himself?”
Jaskier’s fingers gently tugged at Geralt’s fur as he thought. “Yeah, I think so. He still grumbles when I talk too much, except I know he’s not really mad because he wags his tail!”
Geralt gave a low growl but sure enough his tail was still beating steadily against the ground as Jaskier scratched behind his ears.
“See? It’s brilliant. He absolutely hates it of course. Oh his diet has obviously become a little more raw meat than your average witcher but that’s to be expected,”
“But he’s not becoming feral.”
Jaskier shook his head. “Nah. He’s actually quite cuddly.”
Geralt nipped at his fingers.
“Oi! Bad Geralt.”
Nenneke looked unimpressed. “Geralt, can you understand me?”
Geralt barked and nodded his head.
“Remarkable. Unfortunately you’ll have to stay outside. I’ll have a riot on my hands otherwise. Jaskier, you may sleep inside for your stay here.”
Jaskier frowned. “Ah, umm. Well actually, it’s a generous offer, venerable Mother, but you see,” He glanced at Geralt.
Nenneke raised an eyebrow at him. “You would rather stay with him in the cold than spend the night in a warm bed?”
Jaskier scratched the back of his neck and smiled sheepishly at the priestess. “That just about sums it up, yeah.”
Nenneke laughed and threw them a knowing smile. “Have you tried kissing him? True love’s kiss has been known to cure all manner of curses.”
Jaskier felt himself blush but he brushed it off, putting his hands on his hips and flashing her a toothy smile. “Dearest Nenneke, I have a degree in the seven liberal arts from the esteemed university in Oxenfurt, I am a bard, poet and troubadour of famed renowned, and, I might add, an unparalleled lover. I am well aware of the power of true love’s kiss.”
“So have you tried it?”
Jaskier scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Of course I’ve tried it. Wait… what sort of kisses are we talking about here?”
Geralt let out a long drawn out whine and covered his snout with his paws.
“Exactly, I love him but I’m not about to start making out with a wolf not even…” he cut himself off, Geralt might trust Nenneke but he was still reluctant to reveal his true nature to anyone outside of his pack, not unless he was forced to. “not even Geralt is that cute.”
“I will contact the local sorceress,” Nenneke said sharply, and Jaskier got the feeling that she didn’t really like him very much. “Make yourself at home in the gardens. Geralt?”
Geralt’s ears pricked up.
“Don’t scare my girls.”
Geralt nodded.
“And you, bard. Keep your hands to yourself. I know your sort.”
Jaskier gaped and put his hands on his hips. The accusation wasn’t entirely unfounded, at Oxenfurt he had loved freely and abundantly but he was with Geralt! Even if his boyfriend was currently a wolf. He wasn’t about to go cheating on his partner. He bit his cheek to stop a scathing insult flying out at the priestess. He may not believe in the gods but he knew it was foolish to be purposely disrespectful. Instead he put on his most charming smile and bowed. “As you wish.”
She narrowed her eyes at him and he winked. Geralt nudged his hand with his snout and Jaskier dug his fingers into the thick fur on Geralt’s neck. He glanced down at the wolf and tilted his head. “Shall we go find some shelter? Then I’ll see what I can do about finding us some food.”
Geralt wagged his tail and nuzzled against Jaskier’s leg.
“Thank you, Nenneke. We appreciate your assistance.”
“I’ll leave some food in the courtyard, try and stay out of sight.”
Jaskier nodded. “We will. Thank you.”

@nebuleah this is your fault, you inspired me 😃(posting now, cause I started it last night and passed out lol)
Geralt was in a forest, camping with Jaskier after being chased out of a village. They were talking and laughing as they ate. Jaskier finished his rabbit fast and laid on the bedroll, singing as he watched the stars. Suddenly he heard a gasp coming from his witcher.
“Run!“ Jaskier didn’t question the Geralt, the tone of his voice was enough for him to realize something dangerous was about happen. He ran, not looking back as per Geralt’s instructions. He heard a scream, a scream of pain he knew far too well to think it was someone other then his darling. Slowly the scream became a painful howl and Jaskier was struck with realization that his beloved witcher was turned into something, most likely a wolf. Jaskier was getting tired so he slowed down and sat on the ground, leaning against a tree and breathing hard. He heard something running towards him. He looked around to see if there is a climbable tree. Sadly there wasn’t.
“Okay, Jask, calm down. Whatever Geralt was turned into is away from-“ He was cut off by a growl. He turned towards it and saw a big, white wolf with cat-like eyes.”Geralt?“ his asked lowly. The wolf moved closer, Jaskier took a step back and was growled at.”Right.....no moving, got it“ Wolf headbutted bard in stomach and whined.”Uhh....ummm.....do you want cuddles?“wolf whined again and pushed his head into Jaskier’s hand.”oh okay...can we go back to camp first?“ The wolf looked at him and pulled on his sleeve to follow him.”Alright my sweet wolf“
As soon as they returned to their camp, Jaskier dropped onto the bedroll and Geralt-wolf laid on top of him. Jaskier wrapped his arms around his wolf.
“Well, I didn’t expect you to be so cuddly....“Wolf raised his head of bard’s chest and licked his cheek, as if trying to prove something. Bard laughed, amused by his beloved’s animal form. Unexpectedly Geralt got up, stalked towards forest and growled loudly, hackles raised. Another wolf-like being approached him, not at all discouraged by the growling wolf and fully focused on the human in front of them, thinking of human as meal. The creature didn’t react to white wolf’s warning growls and tail biting, it was determined to get to Jaskier. This angered wolf and it jumped on the creature, biting at it’s neck. Finally it turned towards witcher-turned-into-wolf. Jaskier tried to get to Geralt’s silver sword, hoping it’d discourage the being, but the sword was on the other side of camp. Jaskier cursed his luck and hoped Geralt can take down the....monster was a word bard hesitated to use, but there was no other word that fitted it. Witcher and creature fought, Geralt, as Jaskier knew it would be, won, but was terribly scratched and bloody.
“looks like you need a bath, puppy”,if wolf could pout, Geralt certainly would be in that moment!”come on, can’t have you all bloody! what if something gets infected?” The wolf allowed his human to drag him to the lake, evidently resigned to being bathed. Jaskier didn’t use any oils or soaps, just water, to wash away the grime. The wounds were only scratches, thankfully, and they weren’t deep and would likely heal by morning. When Jaskier was done, he insistend on carrying his wolf back to the camp. They settled down to sleep....Geralt was on top of his bard, who hugged and held the wolf close, burying his face in the fur.
In the morning Jaskier was awakened by whine of pain. “Geralt? Oh, no puppy” musician was scared for his darling who was evidently in pain. Jaskier ran his hand thru Geralt’s fur, between his ears, deciding it was safest place to do so. He was happy to notw all the wounds from the night before were healed. Slowly, wolf snout shrank and became human face, front legs changed fully - paws into hands and bones relocating and changing to those of a human painfully, the fur shedding and falling onto the ground, hind legs’ shape transforming - the knees changing angle and paws transforming into feet, the tail receding back into Geralt’s body. Jaskier felt helpless and incredibly sad that his darling had to go through such ordeal and probably would have to again. Bard did the only thing he could - he soothed his witcher and pet his hair gently, praising him for being such a good boy, for protecting him and being so so strong. Finally, after two long agonizing hours, Geralt was human....witcher...once again. But he was scared and his bard didn’t understand why.
“Nightingale? Are you hurt? Did I hurt you?“ the witcher was on verge of panic. Jaskier took his hands and squeezed them gently.
“I’m fine, beloved. Any left over pains?“ Jaskier traced the thin white scars that formed on witcher’s body during night. Geralt shook his head. Bard was relieved to hear that and pulled his love into a hug, witcher allowed it, returned it even! He asked about the scent of something rotting and Jasker told him about everything, praising him once more for being brave, for protecting him and teasing his lovely witcher about being a very cuddly wolf. After the story and reassurance that “No, darling, I won’t leave you, I don’t care that you’re a werewolf...” Geralt relaxed, knowing he didn’t hurt his sweet bird or let anyone else do it and his nightingale wouldn’t leave him....

warmth | ao3 | geralt x jaskier | ~500 words
“Well, this is cozy,” Jaskier said. He was lying face-to-face with Geralt, his arms wrapped around Geralt and Geralt’s arms wrapped around him. Geralt’s eyes were closed, but Jaskier felt unexpectedly giddy, despite the situation: lying on the forest floor of the chilly Brokilon Forest, surrounded by sleeping dryads.
“Hm,” was Geralt’s only response.
“You know,” Jaskier continued, “I usually don’t get this intimate, even with my paramours.”
At that, Geralt opened his eyes to glare at Jaskier. “Jask, shut up.”
“It is a great way to keep warm, though. Remember that time, up by Hengfors? It was bloody freezing. I didn’t get a wink of sleep, I was shivering all night. You should’ve suggested doing this then.”
“Maybe next time,” Geralt said, closing his eyes and rolling over in the circle of Jaskier’s arms. Jaskier curled up around him a little closer.
“You’re pretty cuddly, you know,” Jaskier whispered.
“Jaskier.”
“Maybe people wouldn’t be so hostile towards witchers if they knew how cuddly they were.”
“I’m not ‘cuddly,’” Geralt growled.
“Maybe I could write a ballad. ‘A Night in the Witcher’s Arms.’ Spread the word, you know. Give the White Wolf a soft side.”
Geralt rolled back over to look at Jaskier, unimpressed. “I’m not sure how well an audience would react to an affair between a bard and a witcher.”
“You’ve got a point,” Jaskier said, pondering. “It’s a bit of a taboo, but it could be sensational, especially from a third person perspective, or perhaps if I altered the gender—remember Little Eye? Sorry, sensitive topic, I know, but, consider. A witcher and his bard, snuggled together for warmth. A situation that leads from one thing to another. I bet it would be popular if I—”
Geralt leaned just a little bit closer and kissed Jaskier, brief, but soft and deep. Jaskier’s thoughts fled from his mind, his entire consciousness focusing on the feeling of Geralt’s warm kiss, on the sweet taste of berries on Geralt’s lips, on the spot where he felt Geralt resting his hand on his hip.
Geralt pulled back again. “Mm,” he said, and examined Jaskier’s expression.
Jaskier was speechless. He supposed he’d walked into that, talking about romance and snuggling and one thing leading to another, but he truly hadn’t expected… Years of light but persistent thoughts he’d brushed off as unrealistic, finally happening…
“Good. You’re finally quiet,” Geralt said, closing his eyes and shifting to a more comfortable position for sleep.
Oh, that was so unfair. Such dirty tactics, just to get Jaskier to shut up. Jaskier had half a mind to complain, but Geralt pulled him a little closer, entwined their legs, rested his forehead against Jaskier’s.
“Get some sleep, Jask,” Geralt said, so softly that Jaskier barely heard him.
But though he was warm and comfortable, Jaskier wasn’t sure he’d be able to sleep at all.

Part... 5? Of my Shifter!verse. The one-shot I didn’t know I was going to write.
Prompted by my wifey @fontegagrilledcheese and the ever amazing @bounce-a-coin-off-your-witcher, both wanted Raccoonskier. So... here we go! The wonderful @hobbart-art just happens to have some raccoonskier art that served as inspiration... so check that out too.
Geraskier, 2.3k - Shapeshifter!Jaskier.
Warnings: Some minor mentions of previous abuse and starvation, but mostly this is good ole fluff.
______________________
Jaskier sighed loudly as he marked the papers in front of him. He enjoyed the teaching part of teaching but all the extra work was a slog. Still, after the generosity of the University following his thankfully brief visit to Lettenhove, he figured it was the best way to repay them. He agreed to two semesters teaching at Oxenfurt and then he would return with Geralt to Kaer Morhen for the winter months. Geralt had reluctantly returned to the path once Jaskier had physically recovered, but Jaskier had remained at the university. It was the first time they’d willingly parted since they’d met just over a year ago, but his heart ached and he longed to fly from the window until he found his love again.
But he really did owe the University a debt.
They’d supplied him with lodgings and food without question, but he really missed Geralt. He chuckled and ran his hands through his hair. He supposed it was probably a good thing to spend some time apart. They’d become far too reliant on each other over the last year. Still, he’d been stuck one place for so long and he’d been too tired after class to let loose. He hadn’t even shifted since Geralt had left a few weeks ago. He hadn’t felt safe enough, not without Geralt by his side, which was ridiculous seeing as he could turn into a plethora of carnivorous beasts. That hadn’t stopped his mother managing to capture him though… He shuddered at the thought.
The itch under his skin was getting worse and he’d started to wake up in a cold sweat. The sensation was bringing back all sorts of memories that he’d rather avoid so he knew he couldn’t put it off any longer. Luckily he didn’t have another lecture planned for a few days now. It was the perfect moment to slip out into the city and run free.
And maybe, he if was lucky, he’d run into Geralt.
He pushed his papers aside and stripped off, neatly folding his clothes on his bed, opening his bedroom window so he could make his escape. He hummed happily as he let his magic loose, his skin rippling into dark ebony feathers. He cawed as he shook out his wings and flew from the window. The dreaded itch fading away as he took to the skies. He flapped his wings and did a lap of the university before landing on the cobbled streets. He tilted his head, hopping around to make sure there was no one watching before shifting again. The black feathers thickened to a dark grey fur, his tail grew black and white ringlets as he wiggled his bum. He was still carrying a little more weight than he was used to and his belly grazed the floor as he landed on four paws.
He squeaked and rubbed his face with his paws before sitting down and scratching his belly. It was all Geralt’s fault. Jaskier hadn’t quite been human enough to watch the amount he was eating, after weeks of starvation he’d gone a little over the top. He scratched behind his ears and sniffed, at least he was cuddly. The scent of roast chicken caught his attention and he followed it to a nearby tavern. Behind the door was a pile of old food and empty wine bottles. He squeaked happily and hopped up onto the pile only to be faced with a masked opponent, a rival raccoon.
Jaskier tilted his head, assessing the animal. Their eyes were dark brown like all other raccoons so it was very unlikely that it was another shifter. He knew he could just let the raccoon have the meal, he’d already eaten back at the university, but his instincts wouldn’t let him leave the free meal behind. He chattered at the raccoon in front of him, pawing at the old chicken bones. He managed to split the bird carcass roughly in half before handing one half to the other raccoon. The raccoon clawed at the scraps of meat with its paws, shoving a handful of chicken into its mouth. Jaskier happily chewed on his own meal, sitting on his bottom with his tail between his legs.
Once he was finished he ran through the streets to the outskirts of the city. If he could get through into the forest he could run free for a few hours. It was only once he’d reached the walls that he noticed the other raccoon was still following him. He tilted his head and watched them, not getting any warning before they pounced onto his back, biting playfully at his ears. Jaskier’s raccoon instincts kicked in and soon enough the two raccoons were tumbling around on the cobbled streets of Oxenfurt, chasing each other and biting at each other’s tails until Jaskier stopped and sniffed.
He could smell a litter of kits.
He scampered off down the street, the other raccoon hot on his tail until he found an old crate. He dug through the linen sheets, grabbing the dirty fabric in his paws. Three tiny heads popped up from the crate. His new raccoon friend screeched at him and Jaskier fell backwards back onto the ground, away from the kits, shifting into mouse. The raccoon stared at him, perplexed, and only once Jaskier was certain the raccoon wouldn’t attack him, he shifted back. Cautiously he approached the kits, they were so small and helpless, hidden away from the world. The raccoon he’d met must be their mother, judging by her reaction to his discovering the kits.
He almost felt bad for stealing her dinner now, almost.
He could bring them some food from the university. He squeaked and nuzzled the other raccoon’s cheek, before shifting into a raven and taking off into the sky. Once he was back in his rooms, he got dressed and went down to the kitchens to collect a bowlful of old gruel for his new little friends. The baby raccoons had been hungry, he knew that much, and he’d stolen precious food from their mother. He wrapped his arms round his stomach, pinching at the fat that now clung to his waist, he chuckled. He really hadn’t needed the second dinner but it was too late now. He was just extra cuddly, that was what Geralt kept telling him, and he was inclined to agree.
He returned to the small family of raccoons every night, bringing them food and fresh water. It was probably an odd sight to see a blue-eyed raccoon carrying a bowl of gruel through the streets of Oxenfurt each night, but he tried to keep to the shadows wherever possible. After a couple of days the mother stopped trying to attack him whenever he got too close to her kits. It wasn’t his pack at Kaer Morhen but the little raccoon family took the edge of the loneliness that plagued his heart. Raccoons were mischievous little creatures and Jaskier had had the best time, well as good as he could have without his real pack. He wondered what Lambert would say if he saw Jaskier cuddling up with a family of raccoons, the ass would probably be jealous. He’d been reluctant enough to share Jaskier’s wolfy cuddles with Aiden, and, from Jaskier had seen of the pair, Lambert was pretty fond of the cat witcher.
He’d been visiting the raccoons for just over a week when a new smell caught his attention. He squeaked and scarpered from the shitty crate where the raccoon family made their home. He couldn’t run fast enough through the streets and he launched himself at Geralt as soon as he was within reach. Luckily Geralt’s witcher refllexes meant that he caught Jaskier mid-air.
“Jask?”
Jaskier chattered and pawed at Geralt’s face, nuzzling into his neck. Geralt pulled him away from his face and Jaskier snapped his teeth, holding out his paws, clawing at Geralt’s armour.
Geralt scowled and looked into Jaskier’s eyes. “You stink, Jask.”
Jaskier snarled and hissed at his partner. He’d been bathing regularly in his rooms, partly because he’d been rolling around in rotten food most evenings, but he was a clean raccoon thank you very much!
“Come on, Jask. Let’s get you back to the university,” Geralt said, chuckling as he cradled Jaskier in his arms, but Jaskier clawed at his armour, he couldn’t just leave his raccoon friend and her kits, not without showing Geralt.
He scrambled free from Geralt’s arms and tilted his head, gesturing for Geralt to follow him. Geralt scowled and adjusted the straps going across his chest. “You want me to follow?”
Jaskier nodded and tugged at the cuffs of Geralt’s trousers.
“Alright, lead the way, but after you’re having a bath.”
Jaskier snarled quietly but ran off through the streets, looking behind him to check Geralt was still nearby, until they reached the old crate. The kits squeaked away as Jaskier pawed at the linen that kept them hidden from the world. Jaskier jumped into the crate and let the kits crawl over him.
Geralt knelt down and scratched Jaskier on the head. “Please tell me that these are not…”
Jaskier let out his best raccoon-y laugh at the look on Geralt’s face. He looked absolutely horrified. He opened his mouth a few times with no words coming out, stammering as he let the baby raccoons sniff his hand. Geralt was lucky their mother was busy foraging around the town. There was no way she would have let Geralt get so close to her babies. Jaskier eventually took pity on his witcher and held his paws out so that Geralt would pick him up. Geralt scooped him up in his arms and Jaskier shifted into a cat, nuzzling Geralt’s chest and letting out a low rumble in his chest.
“You have some explaining to do, Jask,” Geralt hummed as he stroked his fingers through Jaskier’s fur.
Jaskier meowed and rubbed his head under Geralt’s chin, just happy to be back in his darling’s arms again. When they reached Jaskier’s rooms at the university, having told the staff that Geralt was bringing Mister Fuzzball in to see Mr Pankratz, Jaskier shifted in Geralt arms. Geralt grunted under the sudden weight of a human in his arms, Jaskier chuckled and snuggled up against his lover’s chest.
“I missed you,” he murmured into Geralt’s armour.
Geralt carried him over to the bed and gently lowered Jaskier down. Jaskier whined, reluctant to let Geralt go. Geralt huffed a laugh and clambered onto the bed next to him. Jaskier grinned and reached up to kiss Geralt, it really had been so long, but the bastard covered his mouth with his hand.
“Hmmph!” Jaskier scowled, licking Geralt’s palm to try and wriggle free from the witcher’s grip.
“You still need a bath, I’m not kissing you until you do,” Geralt smirked at Jaskier, the bastard. “You stink.”
Jaskier finally managed to pull Geralt’s hand from him mouth, he narrowed his eyes. “Says the witcher, who only bathes when he covered in monster guts.”
“I’ve not been rolling round in rotting food.”
Jaskier snorted. “You’re just jealous that I found a surrogate pack whilst you were away.”
“Surrogate?”
“Yes! I’ve not been fathering baby raccoons whilst you’re out on monster hunts, Geralt.”
“Hmm.”
Jaskier wrinkled his nose. “I can’t believe you even thought that! I’m still human-ish. No, Geralt.”
“But…”
“No,” Jaskier stated emphatically. “Now call a bath. If you’re going to be fussy about it. You can help wash my hair, and then I am snogging you senseless and we are cuddling.”
Geralt laughed, stroking a thumb along Jaskier’s cheek. “Needy bastard.”
Jaskier grinned. “Obviously,” then his grin fell from his face as a thought hit him. “You did miss me?”
Geralt sighed, lying down and pulling Jaskier onto his chest. “Yeah, felt strange being alone on the path again. I didn’t realise how quiet it was before I met you. I never thought I needed anyone, and then you came along.”
Jaskier hummed and laced their fingers together. “I am very lovable.”
Geralt chuckled. “Wouldn’t go that far.”
“Oi!”
“Love you,” Geralt hummed, squeezing Jaskier’s hand.
Jaskier grinned, his free hand toying at Geralt’s armour. “I love you too, darling. Now, I think it is terribly unfair that I’m completely naked—”
“You’re always naked.”
“— And you are fully clothed,” he finished, ignoring Geralt’s rude interruption “so how about that bath?”
“Together?”
“Tub’s big enough for two,” Jaskier grinned and before Geralt could stop him captured his lips in a kiss. Geralt groaned but allowed Jaskier to kiss him, grimacing as he pulled away. “What?”
“What the fuck have you been eating?”
“Bit rich from Mr I’ll-Eat-Chicken-Sandwiches-From-A-Corpse,” he swatted Geralt’s arm. “Go, call for a bath, I’ll be waiting for you.”
Geralt hummed, shuffling off the bed. Jaskier watched him go with a fond smile, happily taking in the sight of Geralt’s arse in those delightfully tight trousers. It had been healthy to spend some time apart. He really had loved teaching, it had given him something to do instead of moping and feeling sorry for himself after his ordeal, especially with Geralt’s return to the path. Jaskier hadn’t been selfish enough to force Geralt to stay with him in Oxenfurt whilst he worked off his debt with the university but Gods he had really missed Geralt, and his criminally perfect bottom.
He sighed happily as he stretched out on the bed, burying under the sheets, sleep threatening to pull him under. He’d not slept much since he’s started his night time adventures around the city but with Geralt back by his side, he felt safe again, and he was ever so tired. A quick nap wouldn’t harm anyone whilst the staff got their bath ready. He hummed happily and shifted back into a raccoon, a habit from the last few days. He hid under the covers and wrapped his tail around him.
It was good to be home.

Jaskier’s A-Z of Animals
Summary: “I have an idea!” Lambert announced loudly, his words slurring slightly. He’d clearly drunk too much white gull.
Jaskier flicked his ears and tilted his head. This could only end terribly.
- Or Lambert suggests a game of Guess the Animal.
Previous Story (but this can also be read alone)
_________
Jaskier purred happily as Geralt’s fingers threaded through his fur. The fire was roaring in the hearth and Jaskier delighted in the prickle of heat against his feline body. The witchers were all drunk as skunks but Jaskier hadn’t felt like joining in with their merriment. Their witcher booze did strange things to his head and he’d vowed to bring his own store of ale or wine along with him next time.
Lambert was pontificating loudly, swishing his hands about and rambling on about some stupid humans he’d met on the path. Apparently they’d tried to swindle him out of his coin after a contract. Jaskier yawned and flicked his tail, hissing gently. He’d seen enough of that behaviour over the last few months with Geralt. Luckily for Geralt, Jaskier the mutant dog/wolf companion had been incredibly efficient at persuading the more nefarious humans to relinquish their coin. Geralt scratched him behind the ears. Jaskier meowed and rolled onto his back so that Geralt could scratch his belly.
The witcher chuckled. “Always so needy, you bastard.” He murmured fondly but his fingers still moved to Jaskier’s soft fur on his underbelly.
Jaskier hissed and grabbed Geralt’s fingers under his claws. He didn’t draw blood but Geralt should know better than to call him needy. That just wasn’t fair.
“Jask.” Geralt warned and pulled his fingers away.
Well now, that wouldn’t do. He yowled loudly and tilted his head, widening his eyes as he peered up at his witcher.
Geralt rolled his eyes. “Stop scratching me then.”
Jaskier mewed and rolled back over so he could climb up onto Geralt’s shoulder. He nipped at Geralt’s ear gently.
“I have an idea!” Lambert announced loudly, his words slurring slightly. He’d clearly drunk too much white gull.
Jaskier flicked his ears and tilted his head. This could only end terribly.
“Spit it out, Lambert.” Geralt grumbled.
“Fuck off, patience, White Wolf!” Lambert glared at him and tripped over the rug. He almost fell flat on his face but Jaskier was quicker. He leapt to the ground, shifting mid leap into a wolf. Lambert fell against him and laughed. “I found a Jaskier!”
Eskel snorted. “You didn’t find him. Geralt found him and then he shagged him.”
Geralt groaned. “You guys are drunk.”
“Yeah, well, You’re not drunk enough!” Lambert mumbled into Jaskier’s fur.
He howled and wagged his tail.
“See, Jaskier agrees with me!” Lambert grinned. “Who’s a good boy? Are you a good boy?”
Jaskier barked, turning so he could nuzzle against Lambert. He wrinkled his nose as the scent of white gull hit him. Gods it stank, especially in this form. He really didn’t know how the witchers could bear it.
“He’s not actually a dog, Lambert.” Geralt sighed wearily.
Jaskier turned to Geralt and growled. He was a good boy! Geralt was just a grumpy witcher.
“Fine. Whatever.” Geralt rolled his eyes but came over to join them on the floor.
Jaskier wagged his tail and then sat in Geralt’s lap. Geralt huffed but rested his chin on Jaskier’s back. Lambert continued to scratch him behind the ears and he was in heaven. It really was a dog’s life at Kaer Morhen.
“I want a go.” Eskel whined. “Geralt always gets a go.”
“Get your own.” Geralt grumbled and buried his face in Jaskier’s thick fur.
Geralt was apparently a sleepy drunk this evening. Jaskier liked that, Geralt was always more cuddly when he was tired, but he was also being a grumpy bastard and needed to learn to share. Jaskier rolled his eyes and leapt from Geralt lap. He jumped at Eskel, putting his paws on the man’s shoulders, and licked him in the face.
“Puppy!” Eskel laughed and scrunched his nose up as Jaskier continued to lick his face.
“What was your idea?” Geralt asked Lambert.
“My idea! Guess the animal!” He yelled.
Jaskier sat back down and barked. He assumed he would play a part in this game. He growled quietly, a low rumble in his chest. The witchers knew that he didn’t enjoy being treated like an experiment. He didn’t want this game to turn into a test of his abilities like it had beenat Lettenhove. He shifted again into a mouse and scurried back to Geralt. The room blurred as he shifted and he used his whiskers to guide him as he buried into Geralt’s shift.
Geralt snarled at the redhead. “Lambert!”
“What?”
“He’s family, not a toy.” Geralt’s voice rumbled in his chest and Jaskier could feel the vibrations. He squeaked and nuzzled Geralt’s chest.
“I know!” Lambert whined. “But I thought…”
“You don’t think!” Geralt snapped. “That’s your problem.”
Jaskier squeaked again. He wanted to know Lambert’s reasons. He wanted to trust them. They were Geralt’s family and they’d be nothing but accepting of his gifts.
“I thought!” Lambert continued loudly. “That he knew he could trust us. I thought that it could be fun for him too, he could show off a bit and he knows none of us care what he can and can’t do.”
Jaskier considered that carefully and shifted back into a cat. He poked his head out the top of Geralt’s shirt.
“Jaskier!” Geralt grumbled.
He chirped happily. The temptation to shift back to human was almost too much. Geralt saw him naked all the time. He was allowed to enjoy the thought of ripping his boyfriend’s shirt to shreds, but instead he ducked back inside the shirt and crawled out the bottom.
When he was seated back in Geralt’s lap he shifted to human.
The others yelled and pretended to cover their eyes.
“I’m in.” He announced, not bothering to cover himself and batting Geralt’s hands away. “But I reserve the right to stop at any time. The moment I feel like it’s more than a fun game then I’m out. Got it?”
Lambert grinned and extended his hand. “Deal.”
They shook on it.
“Game stops once I turn into a wolf. No questions asked.”
There was a mumble of agreement.
Jaskier thought about his knowledge of animals. It wasn’t complete despite what the witchers may think. Some animals came easier to him, the wolf and the cat for example. He found mammals easier in general. He supposed the genetic make up was closer to his human form. He was also limited by what animals he knew. He’d spent a lot of time in his youth studying books on animals. They were the only books his parents had allowed him to have in his dimeritium prison of a bedroom. For years the books had been his only access to his abilities outside of the controlled ‘sessions’.
He would start easy enough. He gave Geralt as quick kiss on the cheek and winked before letting the magic loose once more. His skin rippled back into ginger fur and his bones crunched as he shifted in Geralt’s lap.
“FOX!!” Lambert yelled. “Aww look at you. So cute.”
Jaskier let out a screeching bark and trotted over to the redhead with his bushy tail trailing after him. He nuzzled against Lambert’s open palm and shifted again.
He slithered to the floor with a hiss. Reptiles were probably his least favourite animal so he was eager to get this out of the way. The room lit up in infra red and he flicked his tongue tasting the air as he familiarised himself with the room in this form. The witchers ran cooler than humans and it was difficult to make them out with the fire drawing his eye from the corner of the room.
“Snake!” Lambert shouted again and Jaskier turned to hiss at him. He slithered up the witcher’s arm and curled around his shoulders, flicking his tongue in Lambert’s ear. “Get off.” He grumbled. “Next one!”
Jaskier shook his head and hissed.
“We have to be more specific?” He heard Eskel ask.
He nodded. He’d chosen this particular snake for a reason. The scales were distinct, yellow and bristly. He slithered back to the floor and curled up into a ball.
“Umm… Viper?” Geralt asked.
Jaskier nodded again and hissed.
“Prickly viper!” Lambert tried.
“Spiky viper?” Eskel guessed.
Both good guesses but not quite right. He hissed and shifted to human, lounging extravagantly on the rug. “Spiny bush viper, found in desert regions.” He accidentally hissed on the ’s’ sounds and grinned sheepishly. “I saw a picture in a book when I was younger. ”
Before they could question him further he shifted again, blue and orange feathers rippled out this time instead of fur. He flitted between the witchers landing on each of their heads, and he suddenly had an overwhelming craving for fish, he was starving! He  He wondered if there was any in the kitchens. He was sure Vesemir wouldn’t mind if he went for a snack.
Geralt must have recognised the animal instincts taking over and he caught Jaskier gently in his hands. Jaskier fluttered his wings angrily in Geralt’s hands and chirped loudly, trying to find an escape from his prison.
“Kingfisher.” Geralt said softly in a whisper. “Next one, Jask.”
Jaskier chirped again but let Geralt’s rough soothing voice ground him. He shifted in Geralt’s hands, his wings growing and the feathers disappearing until was a fluffy bundle in Geralt’s palm.
Geralt slowly opened his hands and Jaskier flinched away from the light. This choice had been logical in the darkness of Geralt’s hands but the bright light of the room was almost too much. He fluttered up to the ceiling, dipping a few times as his wings felt heavier than expected. It was time to rest. He felt incredibly tired all of a sudden. He curled his wings around him as he found a nook to rest in.
“Did anyone see that?” Lambert asked. “The bugger moved too fast.”
“You’re just getting slow in your old age.” Geralt laughed.
“I’m younger than you, old man!” Lambert grumbled and Jaskier heard the two witchers start to brawl.
“Jaskier!” Eskel called. “Come down and control your boyfriend.”
Boyfriend.
Geralt.
Jaskier closed his eyes and jumped from his hiding place. Shifting again mid-air into a kestrel, but for the first time in a while the shift didn’t come easy. He almost dropped to the ground before he managed to find the energy to flap his wings.
He’d done too many shifts too quickly. Cat. Wolf. Mouse. Cat. Human. Fox. Snake. Human. Kingfisher. Vampire Bat. Kestrel.
Fuck.
He’d hadn’t even noticed it had been so many.
Even back at Lettenhove he’d struggled with ten at a time. The most he’d pushed it before had been fifteen and that had almost killed him. It had been years since he’d tried. He could stay as any form for as long as he liked but too many consecutive shifts were exhausting. He’d forgotten about that. He usually settled after two or three, six at a push. There wasn’t much need to keep flitting about in different forms.
He tumbled to the ground, crash landing on the rug. The noise broke up the fight between the two grumpier witcher and Geralt scooped him up in his arms. “Jaskier, what’s wrong?” He murmured and he stroked a finger along Jaskier’s fur.
“Too much white gull!” Lambert slurred. “Drunk birds can’t fly.”
Geralt snarled at Lambert but didn’t answer him. “Can you shift to human?” He asked quietly.
Jaskier considered it. His wings felt limp but nothing was broken. He was just tired, he needed a nap and food… gods he was so hungry.
“Jask, don’t sleep. Not yet. I need to know you’re ok.” Geralt was obviously worried and Jaskier felt a little guilty for forgetting his own limits like that. He should have known better.
He’d just been swept up in the witchers’ joy and laughter, knowing the excitement they felt had nothing to do with wanting to use and abuse his abilities. The tasks had been so similar to those he’d performed at Lettenhove but the warmth and affection of the witchers had been the opposite of the calm calculated coolness of his parents.
Geralt needed to know he was ok. He needed words.
That meant he had to shift.
He let his magic go one last time and collapsed against Geralt’s chest. “Fuck!” He groaned. “Game over.”
And passed out.
________
When he awoke he was covered in furs and wearing one of Geralt’s black shirts by the feel of it. Geralt’s shirts were rougher fabric than his own. His whole body ached and he felt liked he’d run through one of the witcher obstacle courses, twice. Geralt’s fingers were in his hair and he could hear him bickering with Lambert.
“Well how was I supposed to know?” Lambert grumbled. “It’s not like I purposely set out to hurt him.”
“Again.” Eskel chimed, clearly amused by the entire argument.
If Jaskier’s head hadn’t been quite so sore he probably would have laughed. He’d underestimated the blond witcher when he’d first arrived at Kaer Morhen. He’d been taken in by Eskel’s kind and gentle personality. He’d hadn’t noticed the glimmer of humour underneath. Eskel seemed to thrive in chaos. He enjoyed gently pushing and teasing his fellow witchers until they were almost at each other’s throats and Vesemir had to calm everyone down. The others hadn’t even seemed to realise that it was Eskel manipulating the entire conversation. Jaskier had a huge amount of respect for Eskel as a result.
“Again.” Geralt growled.
Jaskier knew his witcher was about two seconds away from brawling with Lambert again and he took pity on the redhead. He groaned dramatically and snuggled further into Geralt’s lap.
“Jaskier?” Geralt’s hands stopped in his hair.
“Morning…” He mumbled.
“What happened, pup?” Jaskier blinked a few times and then opened his eyes. Vesemir had joined them… oh and they were in his bedroom.
“Shifted too many times.” He muttered. “Forgot to take a break.”
“This has never happened before.” Geralt hummed thoughtfully.
Jaskier tried to sit up but his head span so he flopped back onto Geralt’s lap on the bed. Geralt was sitting up against the headboard and Jaskier had essentially been using him as a pillow, not an unusual occurrence. The others were crowded around the bed. He felt a pang of guilt. He must have really worried them for them to all be here.
“Not for years. When was the last time you’ve seen me shift more than…” He pause to think “six times?”
Geralt just hummed a response.
“Yeah, didn’t think so.” He grumbled. “Now can everyone please fuck off, I’m tired.”
The witchers all grumbled and began to filter out of them room. Lambert mumbling what could have been an apology as he left.
Jaskier’s stomach rumbled noisily. “Oi! Wait! On second thoughts! Lambert, darling, dearest witcher. Have we got any fish?”
Lambert groaned and stalked out the room. “I’m only doing this because I almost killed you, wolf.”
“Again!” Eskel pointed out with a laugh.
“Fuck off!”
Jaskier grinned and cuddled up against his boyfriend. Family, you couldn’t live without them.

25. Wrapping arms around them when they make breakfast <3 Any pairing, I love all the ones in your tags
This was soft!! I hope you like it! _________
Jaskier woke up to the smell of bacon  and coffee. He blinked and looked around, disorientated by his surrounding.
This was not his bed.
“What the…” He muttered as he looked around. He saw his own face peering back at him from a couple of the picture frames. There were photos of him, Roach, Yennefer and Geralt’s misfit family all over the room.
Geralt.
He was in Geralt’s room, in Geralt’s bed. The memories came flooding back to him. The date to the zoo, takeaway back at Geralt’s apartment, Netflix and snuggling on the sofa. Oh and the kissing. The soft lazy kind that you had when you knew you had forever to enjoy yourself. God he hoped he had forever with Geralt. He’d been pining after his best friend for years. He’d thought Geralt had been joking at first when he’d suggested going to a zoo on a date. Jaskier had asked whether he meant as a ‘date date’ three times before he’d actually believed it, and even then he hadn’t been sure whether he’d been dreaming.
Perhaps he still was but oh lord did the smells from the kitchen feel real. Plus he was pretty sure that if it had been a dream then the night would have ended in some phenomenal sex. As it was Jaskier had pretty much fallen asleep in Geralt’s arms whilst watching Netflix and Geralt had carried him off to bed. The chivalrous fool had tried to sleep on the sofa only but half-asleep Jaskier had been particularly cuddly and pulled Geralt into the bed with him. He was a cuddler at night. He always had been. When they went on holiday together they’d often shared hotel rooms so thankfully Geralt was used to Jaskier’s koala behaviour.
Last night had been different though.
Last night Geralt had kissed his hair as he’d pulled Jaskier to his chest. Jaskier had returned the gesture by kissing Geralt’s chest. After that it all went a bit fuzzy. He was ninety percent sure that he’d told Geralt he loved him as he was falling asleep. Hopefully Geralt would take it as tired ramblings.
God he hoped he’d hadn’t fucked it up already. He’d always given his heart away too fast and Geralt had been no exception.
He groaned and pulled the sheets around his shoulders as he padded out to the kitchen. Geralt was standing over the stove looking absolutely radiant as always. His long hair was already pulled up into a messy bun. He wasn’t wearing a shirt but he had put on a pair of sweatpants, much to Jaskier’s disappointment.
“Coffee’s in the pot.” Geralt waved to the steaming cafetière on the counter with a spatula.
Jaskier hummed happily. Geralt had made the fancy kind! God he really did love him. He ignored the coffee pot to shuffle over to Geralt instead. He wrapped his arms around Geralt’s waist and buried his face between Geralt’s shoulders, pressing a kiss to the nape of his neck. “Morning.”
Geralt chuckled and covered one of Jaskier’s hands with his as he flipped a pancake. Jaskier peered over Geralt’s shoulder. They were the fluffy kind of pancake, his favourite! That explained the bacon smell. Bacon pancakes.
“Morning, Jask.” Geralt murmured.
“Love you.” Jaskier sighed as he rested he head on Geralt’s shoulder, placing a quick kiss on the bare skin. “and I don’t expect you to say it back.” He added quickly. “Just thought you should know.”
Geralt laughed again. He turned the heat off on the hob and then spun round to face Jaskier. Their faces were so close that Jaskier’s sleep addled brain couldn’t resist pressing a kiss to Geralt’s lips. They were just so kissable. Geralt cupped Jaskier’s cheek in his hand. “I already told you that I love you too.”
Well that woke him up. He blinked and narrowed his eyes at Geralt. “No?”
“Mhmm.”
“Nah.” Jaskier groaned and buried his face in Geralt’s shoulder. “No I would remember that. You sure this isn’t a dream?”
Geralt sighed. “Not a dream. I told you Yen threatened to kill me if I didn’t stop moping about and ask you on a date.”
Jaskier laughed. He remembered that. “You never could say no to her.”
Geralt kissed his head. “Worked out alright.”
“Hmm.” Jaskier agreed. It had worked out splendidly indeed.
