i don't think we talk enough about how Reggie's little '...and then we do a little oh-oh...' in Flying Solo makes it into the final version of the song. like it seems like such a little 'throwaway' thing, you know. just Reggie riffing/going with the vibe of the song. but like after Julie left Luke was like 'your 'oh-oh' was a great touch. it's going in.' and he turns to work through the melody, not seeing Reggie's sweet little smile.

In Flying Solo, Julie is wearing a "Double Trouble" shirt when she sings to Flynn.

there is so many people on jatp fandom saying Reggie got ADHD, Willie got ADHD, but you know what?
Luke Patterson is autistic.
and i have a way of supporting my headcanon.
Luke special interest is music. It's all he thinks about. He's always talking about music and relates everything to music.
He misses social clues (as in Flying Solo, when inviting Julie to join Sunset Curve)
Luke uses music to communicate w people, he writes a song to his mom, also starts playing to cheer Reggie up on the beach w The Band is Back, the little "we're sorry" song.
Music is also his way of connecting w people at all, he sings to Reggie, he writes songs with Julie and only notices her avoiding him when she's not singing w him, his fights with his mom grew bigger bc she couldn't see how music was important to him.
also. maybe its just me. But he wears mostly sleeveless shirts bc of sensory issues. but also his coats and jackets look very warm and comfy so he might as well be a sensory seeker.

My favourite performer in each JATP Band Song
I'm just going to be going for the Sunset Curve and Julie and The Phantoms songs actually performed as a band, so unfortunately Perfect Harmony and Unsaid Emily won't be included
I wrote a lot more than expected so under the read more it goes
Now Or Never
Luke takes it home for the first one, maybe it's the sleeveless shirt, maybe it's how he so effortlessly flings his guitar around, but also how bouncy he is throughout the whole song I just know this was one of his favourite songs he had ever written. (Need to note that Reggie is a very close second here because of his 'tooDAYY' and pushing his hair back)
This Band Is Back
Alex 'Come on Reginald' Mercer, my guy was dedicated to becoming a drum for this song just to cheer his buddy up, and he kept rhythm no matter what position he was in, plus he's cute in his shorts. I also do love that it's a Reggie song and I stick to the belief that Reggie wrote it after Luke and Bobby had a minor argument.
Bright
Julie. Her finally getting the courage to not only sing but to sing in front of her school? The little laugh when the phantoms appear?!?!?! THE PRIDE WHEN SHE NOTICES THEY CAN SEE THEM?!?? THE WAY SHE OWNS THE STAGE AND JUST HAS A COMPLETE PERSONALITY CHANGE?!?!? GO JULIE GO!!!! I have to add, most shows with bands would really focus on just the love interests in the band having moments on stage, but every JATP performance is so real and just a group of friends hyping each other up and I love that. OH and the way she lip syncs when Luke's singing into her mic?! Love love LOVE it.
Flying Solo
Julie again, okay the last one I said how Julie pays attention to the whole band but I love how in this one she literally does not spend one second not focusing on Flynn. The way she proudly introduces Flynn to each of the ghosts throughout the song? Ahhhh!! She's gotten so confident after Bright and this shows it. Oh also when Julie and Flynn dancing? (It's something they picked up from dance class 100%)
Finally Free
First of all, a shout out to Reggie's vest. But of course the queen reigns once again, this song is super Julie centric and she's so powerful throughout the whole thing? Like, she singlehandedly made Luke realise he was into her just with this performance alone? Julie Molina was destined to be a star, GOD her voice in this song?! Perfect, perfection, mwah mwah mwah! (Also Alex and Reggie noticing Julie and Luke in that moment? What a time to be not alive)
Edge of Great
Julie and Luke?? There's no way I can split the choice here, how Julie is actively trying to avoid looking at Luke, Luke's confusion but he just carries on until he knows he can get her attention? Julie on the piano, Luke's guitar riffs. Also easily one of my favourite costume moments of the show? The butterfly shirt is something I could write a million words about, because much like a butterfly Julie has really really come out of her cacoon by now. Also we all know the moment at the end has to mentioned, because like come on, even Nick knew Julie was into Luke because of that.
Stand Tall
Right, straight off the bat I can tell you Reggie actually always takes over as my favourite phantom whenever I'm rewatching this performance. His performance is fully next level in this one, the smirk when he manages to appear on stage, the way he goes to the front of the stage with Julie and flicks his bass, when they go back to back to sing?!??!?! Reggie was a totally brand new performer for Stand Tall and he always stands out to me. But also I can't talk about Stand Tall and NOT mention everyone? Alex being the first one to get back on the stage is amazing, because you know he probably had an overwhelming amount of anxiety about it but once he's there he's so relieved. The moment where he stands up and sings? Beautiful. Luke fighting as hard as he can to be in the performance even if it causes him pain. The flawless harmonies he produces even after the stress of getting back to her. JULIE?! JULIE BEING ABLE TO GET BACK ON THAT STAGE THINKING SHE WOULDN'T PERFORM WITH HER BOYS, THINKING SHE WOULD JUST BE SINGING ALONE, BUT DOING IT FOR THEM AND FOR HER MOTHER?!?!? SHOUT OUT TO JULIE MOLINA BECAUSE THAT WAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT AND REALLY SHOWED HER GROWTH IN CONFIDENCE!!!

Newsies JatP AU Drabble (Flying Solo)
I randomly wrote this instead of literally anything else that I needed to or wanted to but it's fun so we deal. This would be a part of the "Flying Solo" chapter of my Julie and the Phantoms AU (click the first tag for all related posts) and would be right after Jack tells Spot about the ghosts and decides to perform a song for him to prove it. There is no telling when or if the rest of this chapter will ever be written so I decided to just post it now. There are indeed references and callbacks to previous chapters that either Do Not Exist or Are Not Posted Yet and I just need everyone to politely ignore those.
Jack turned away from the bickering ghosts with an eye-roll and moved to take his seat at the keyboard when a too-familiar sight froze him in place. Race’s beloved guitar was shining like new, the year of dust wiped away like nothing, as if his brother had just finished cleaning it himself and would bounce through the door at any moment to show Jack the newest chord progression he’d dreamt up in history class. Jack’s heart raced faster and faster as his breath caught in his throat and a million different thoughts flew through his mind in a single moment.
Someone cleaned Race’s guitar.
Someone touched Race’s guitar.
Race hadn’t done it.
Race was dead.
Ma and Charlie never came out here.
Jack hadn’t done it.
Race was dead.
Someone touched Race’s guitar.
“Jack, you ready?” Davey’s voice was a mile away and deafening in his eardrums. The ghost followed his frozen eye line to the beautiful instrument that sat ready for a concert never to come. “Oh.”
Davey cleaned Race’s guitar.
It looked nice, Race would like it.
Race was dead.
“I’m sorry, I should have asked,” a quick, nervous apology came before Jack could finish spiraling. “We got so excited that we could move things but we didn’t want to keep touching stuff in your room so Albert suggested cleaning our mess up and we got carried away and started doing the whole room and the guitar just looked so well-loved I wanted to see what it looked like clean but I- I should have asked. I’m sorry.”
Jack said nothing, voice still stuck in his throat. He didn’t walk to his brother’s guitar so much as he did float towards it. His fingers ghosted over the freshly-changed strings and he tentatively plucked out a few perfectly-tuned notes. Jack shot Davey a questioning glance and the suddenly-awkward ghost offered a sheepish shrug, “Sorry.”
A deep breath.
“It’s okay,” Jack managed to choke out, hoping he didn’t sound as close to a breakdown as he felt. “You uh… you didn’t know. Just… I uh… yeah just ask next time.”
“I will,” There was a tone in Davey’s voice that Jack had never heard before. An odd thing to notice considering they had known each other for about 48 hours if he was being generous, but all the (false, Jack was almost certain) confidence was gone and replaced by soft apprehension. Different than the desperate pleading from before, more of a nervous prayer. No, a promise. A promise that went far beyond the surface vow being shared.
Race’s guitar stared at him expectantly and Jack couldn’t help but pick it up, the familiar instrument a weighted blanket on his soul. The first few chords of their old favorite song rang out clear as ever and one of the thorny vines wrapped around Jack’s chest finally began to loosen its death-grip.
“You play guitar too?” Albert joked cautiously. “Got any other hidden talents you wanna share with the class?”
“Nah, I mean. I know how to play but I don’t know how to play.”
Race knew how to play. Jack could strum the right notes and find a complimenting chord but Race knew his guitar better than he knew how to breathe. He could make the strings sing like any room was Carnegie Hall, he could give the instrument its very own soul with the simplest of melodies. It was a wonder he hadn’t figured out how to become a ghost himself just to wipe away the blasphemous layer of dust Jack had allowed to accumulate.
Something like a smile found its way to his lips as Jack imagined his terror of a little brother cracking the secrets of parting the veil between worlds just to dust off his guitar and whack Jack upside the head for being an idiot.
“It looks really good,” Jack found his voice easily this time as he set the guitar back on its stand. “Thanks.”
Davey nodded, still looking uncharacteristically nervous, “No problem.”
Jack’s fingers remained loosely curled around the neck of the guitar, the gentlest sparks of reassurance reaching him through time. Davey’s grip tightened around his own instrument, so subtly he might’ve imagined it. The gaze lingered longer than was probably necessary but Jack couldn’t help but be drawn into the puzzle that was David Jacobs. The smooth, easy confidence that crumbled to insecurity in less than a second. The deliberately carefree attitude until music came into the picture and suddenly he became a wild tornado of passion and near-mania. Jack wondered why he had noticed so much in so little time.
A few agitated thumps of the bass drum pulled the room’s attention to Sarah restlessly twirling a drumstick from her stool, “If I remember correctly, Jack, you’re the one who burst in here saying we have thirty minutes to turn this poem of yours into a song so mind-blowingly epic your bestie doesn’t immediately call the psych ward on you for claiming to see ghosts.”
“Please don’t call him my bestie, he will beat you up,” Jack groaned.
“He can certainly try but one of us learned how to throw things today and it was not him.”
Send an ask if you have questions and/or drabble requests! I may write 500 words, I may write 50, I may write 5,000 who even knows but I will do my best. I have a deadline and thus my brain is ready to do anything other than the fic with the deadline.

B, F & I!
Hi!! Thank you for the ask.😊
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn't consider, but someone changed your mind.
Oh, I have to be very careful with how I phrase this ...😅 Well, it's Juke.
As repeatedly mentioned, I do have my issues with pre-character-development Luke. So, I went back and forth with them a lot - it was a rollercoaster.
Here's a summary of my 2021 Juke ride (at least what I remember):
Cute kitchen scene: Wait... are they going to be a thing? 🤔
Mic share and walkthrough in Bright: Alright, I'm down for it.
Luke "stealing" Flying Solo and just assuming he's entitled to her gratitude: Nope.
Luke prioritizing his revenge on Bobby over Julie and the half-hearted apology: Yup, I'll never sail this ship.
Luke's past and Julie's forgiveness and Luke calling her boss: JUKE?
Finally Free: JUKE?!
Flirting in the school hallway: JUKE! 🥰
Luke trying to coax Julie into ditching school: Boy, I'm warning you. You just got off the hook. Don't ruin this ship.
Perfect Harmony: Who is this guy? ... Wait, is this Luke?! WTF?!🤣
Edge of Great and onwards: JUKE! JUKE! JUKE! 🥰💜
Finding out about the age difference between Madi and Charlie: Okay, maybe no Juke. 😬 That's ... weird/gross. (<- This was before the cancellation. I assumed that, at some point, we'd get to see a Juke kiss, and part of me didn't want this to happen.)
Being exposed to all the good Juke content on AO3: JUKE! JUKE! JUKE!🥰🥰🥰
And, well ... Tadaaah! JUKE!
F - What's the longest you've ever been in a fandom?
As an active participant ... about 5 years.
As a passive, purely consuming member ... Well, One Piece first aired here in 2003.😅 So, twenty years and counting.
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
Thankfully, no. But I've heard rumors about how the JATP fandom -- or parts of it -- used to be. I think that would have driven me away. (Almost glad for being a year late.😅)
Again, thank you💜
