I'm fairly well aware that I'm an urban creature who would wither and hibernate if taken out of metropolitan areas for any length of time but few things remind me of how acutely dependent my native environment is like the glee I feel when I spy a place specialising in "coffee & bubble tea" in a part of the world i know to have reliable quality on both of those

reset junos tank yesterday !! i took everything out to finally actually add my bio stratum layer and place my plants correctly. he seems pretty happy with it
#it looks way less full than before#even though there are more plants now#before there were just a lot of old leaves on my java fern propagating and it looked full#but i pulled those off and put most of them into the substrate finally#so hopefully theyll look more full than previously soon#im going to get a CO2 canister soon ish i just gotta figure out numbers and set up with a 4 gal#fish posting#fish keeping#planted aquarium#bettablr#betta fish

deleted the last post about the issues with skull textures because i did fix it but the actual problem was insane. i thought the issue was furf bc it's been known to have issues with skull textures. it was not, the skulls loaded incorrectly without texture packs loaded. so i decided to launch the game in vanilla in the default directory. that ALSO loaded wrong skulls
turns out the problem was i was just. using the wrong version of java? not like i had downloaded the wrong version, just that i had to manually selected where java was downloaded even though everything was done with default settings?????
#anyways i am FINALLY done setting the desktop up. i was putting off fixing the skull textures#bc i just couldnt figure out what was wrong#finally got it. i would have never guess that i didnt even know you COULD pick your java directory#chat

man i love the jetbrains ides but they take up soooo much memory i wish they would just rewrite their ides in a native language...
#with some fucking around with settings i've managed to get this minimal python project down to 2GB of memory usage when i have it open in#pycharm but my laptop only has 7GB of ram so i can't have like too many firefox tabs open or whatever while i've got my project open still#i might see if i can open my laptop up and install another stick of ram but idk#i've not bought ram for ages i dunno how spensive it is these days#also i should not have to buy a whole ass extra stick of ram just to use an ide 😭#i could switch to an ide that's not written in java but idk i like the features of the jetbrains ones and also they're what i'm used to#i used visual studio when i was 13 lol but they don't have VS for linux#they only have vs code for linux and if i'm using an editor not a full ide im just using vim

Sometimes you just gotta make a proper enchanting area. I have enchanting set-ups in my skele and zombie xp farms, but wanted something above ground, and I wanted it to be in a totally different block palette to everything else. So I went with cherry wood and leaves, black nether bricks (ty vanilla tweaks), red nether bricks, birch wood, and amethyst. Kind of made it up as I went along but I'm happy enough with it. I may fix the central roof eventually so it's more domed rather than flat, but that requires more brain power than I have rn. Also the pond will need landscaping, but again, that's for later.
I also made my way over to the closest fortress to get blaze rods and a little bit of loot while I was mining more netherrack, so that's one more thing done. Pix reminded me in today's Survival Guide ep that I don't need to wait till I get to the End to grab an ender chest lol, so I made a few to carry my spare tools in for easier access.
