☆Welcome To My Gyaru Blog☆
♡ Intro ♡
Hiiiiiiii! My name is Jax, I’m 23 years old and from NYC! I’ve been gal for almost 2 years now. I don’t consider myself a vet gal by any means (obviously) but I’d like to believe that I have a good basis in the style and makeup! I don’t think my blog posts will be very formal at first but I want a space to share my opinions and document my journey.
I found gyaru and J-fashion through early Tumblr (around 2013/2014), and then rediscovered it in 2020 and fell in love with it all over again. I love gal because of how much tan skin is appreciated! Japanese gals created a space in a colorist society where you could say “I LOVE your tan skin!” I think that’s pretty amazing!!! I also love how gyaru as a style is very hyperfeminine but with a twist. Since becoming a gal, I have learned to care much less what people think. I’m not afraid to express myself or dress in a way that other people might not like. I am unapologetically myself and I partially have gal to thank for that! At first I was really inspired by Ganguro/Old School, I loved how early gals pulled inspiration from Western fashion trends, especially African American Y2K fashion. Though, I should acknowledge that there is a conversation to be had about appreciation vs appropriation, which I might talk about in a later post.
🌺FAQ🌺
I’ll answer some FAQ that gals get so you guys can understand a bit more about my personal philosophies on the style:
💄 Do you need makeup to be gal?
Yes, there are many, MANY different styles of gyaru makeup and all of them are valid, but the only thing that has stayed consistent across gyaru “substyles” is the makeup (and hairstyling/nails), but the defining feature of gal is the makeup. This is a sentiment that has been echoed in both the Gaijin and Japanese gal communities. You don’t need to wear heavy yamanba makeup every single day, it’s understandable that some days you might not have time or energy to do your hair, money to do your nails, ect. The important part is that you do these things as much as possible as well as incorporating gal into your life in other ways!
🌺Can you be gal if you’re white or not asian?
Yes, anybody can be gal!
👛Do you need brand to be gal?
NO. Even the most well known gaijin gals own Western fast fashion brands. A lot of similar items to the ones Japanese gals wore can be found second hand or in your local mall. Obviously, finding a dupe for an item can be difficult if that item has a specific print like the Alba Rosa coat and some MA*RS sets (though Shein did have a MA*RS dupe dress last year), but other than that a lot of gal outfits are easily replicable. Magazine scans are going to be your best friend if you wanna get the style right, it is much easier to get the gal look you want when you have a clear basis/inspiration for the coords and makeup you wanna wear. Also, simply owning brand is not enough to put together a good outfit, a lot of people who wear a lot of brand lack inspiration and originality. I am not anti-brand by any means. I have a huge list of brand items I want, and I even ordered my first brand piece recently (a MA*RS handbag). But it’s just not necessary, and some brands are essentially the equivalent of Japanese Charlotte Russe or Forever 21. The brands are still fast fashion and a lot of second hand brand items are falling apart, smell, have stains, ect. Don’t stress about brand unless you really want it! It took me almost two years to buy my first piece, you’ll be okay without it! Learning HOW to style, is a lot more important than WHAT you style. A good gal can make almost anything gal, but “bad” gal can end up making anything, even brand, look cheap and tacky.
(hint, hint: a lot of it honestly is and that’s why styling really matters)
Substyles I’m currently into and why!:
🦋Agejo🦋:
So, when you think of agejo, it probably looks something like this:

This specific type of agejo is what tends to be most represented on Google and Pinterest. Newbies to the style might think that pink, black, cheetah print, lace stockings, and big hair is all there is to the style. But boy would you be wrong!!!
Look at some of these scans from Ageha, most of these are from 2008-2012. Look at how many different types of agejo are represented! Of course the iconic pink and black MA*RS sets can be found in some spreads, but they’re much less common than most gals think!

See how different the above images are? Agejo literally translates to “butterfly lady”, so in a lot of Ageha editions, especially in the spreads for more formal dresses, you will see a lot of butterfly motifs! Isn’t it crazy that the style that has butterfly in the name, yet it isn’t commonly associated with butterflies at all? I also learned from my friend Haruka (@otknoharuka on Instagram) that in Japan, Agejo is considered a style under the Hime umbrella. It actually makes a lot of sense if you’ve seen a lot of ageha scans.
I know, technically you can argue that some of the outfits in these scans could be considered another substyle. But let’s just remember that substyles aren’t real and they’re something Western gals came up with to make sense of the scans/information that was available to them at the time!
I really started understanding this style more when I started to religiously scour Ageha scans. At first I was an Egg girl all the way but I’m glad I actually took the time to read other magazines. Egg is iconic but it’s far from all there is in terms of gyaru magazine inspiration. I totally fell in love with this substyle when I finally tried out the softer, more dolly makeup look that’s common in Ageha magazine (example below). It suits my features so much better than the harsher gal make I used to do.

An early attempt of mine at Agejo/Ageha inspired makeup:

A more recent attempt:

🐆Banba🐆:
Personally I’ve never been into more “out there” styles like ya/manba. I don’t think they really suit me, and it’s just generally not the gyaru vibe I’m looking for. But Banba has recently been resonating with me recently. If you don’t know, the term banba comes from combining “barbie” and “manba.” It’s a more toned down and hyper feminine version of manba. I also find that it’s more beginner-friendly than some other substyles (in terms of coords).
A lot of the outfits are composed of muted colors, tans/browns, black, white, and animal prints. These are all items that are very easy to find, it’s just a matter of learning how to style them! I also love how glittery the makeup is, and the nails are to die for. I’ve actually been teaching myself how to make nails and a big part of it is because I don’t feel complete without them, especially when doing styles like this!!
Some banba inspo I’ve pulled from recently:

Some recent attempts of mine:

I’m going to end this blog post here!! I had a lot of fun making it and I’m excited to do more posts in the future!! I think my next post will be a unpopular gyaru opinions post, might rial some people up but in classic gal fashion I simply do not give a fuck.
I hope you’re having an amazing day wherever you are!!

Waking Up In Vegas || Part Two
Jax Teller x Reader
Summary: Jax and Y/N had always been close, they were each other’s partners in crime, the light in the dark and the shelter from the storm. Both just coming out of messy divorces and being each other’s life line. So what happens when Jax springs a last minute trip on Y/N? What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, well that’s what they thought.
Waking Up In Vegas Masterlist
This Months Writing
A/N Thank you for all the love on part one I promise these parts get longer 😂 only just realising now how short they are compared to later parts ||
To unlock the next part this post needs to reach 50 notes 🖤

You were taking too long for Jax although you were now fully dressed and sorting your hair out, but he wanted to be on the road as soon as possible. He wanted to get out of this god forsaken town for something other than muling runs, so he took matters into his own hands as he dragged your suitcase out from under your bed. Chucking to himself, he eyed the bullet holes that were scattered across the front. More memories filled his mind as he unzipped the case, like the two of you using it for target practice while drunk.
He felt your scowl on his back the moment he opened your underwear drawer. Watching him through the mirror, you saw he was pulling all of the skimpy garments out, giving them the once over before tossing them into the case without a care in the world.
“God, you are so impatient,” you giggled, as you tied your hair into a ponytail.
“Well, it ain’t my fault that you take a fucking age to get ready,” he huffed, as he rooted through your wardrobe, pulling enough outfits out for a month long trip.
“How many outfits are you expecting me to go through?” you asked, raising your brow at him as you took the garments off of him. There was no way you were letting him just toss some of these dresses into the case, not with the price tag that some of them had. “It’s a week long trip, not a month.”
“Again, you are indecisive to the point I need to get you to think about what takeout we order for movie night a week in advance and even then you always change your fucking mind at the last minute,” he said lowly, but with a playful tone in his voice. “Now where is your makeup bag?”
He was like a little whirlwind, asking where certain items were before rushing around to collect everything. You knew why he was rushing for two reasons. The first one being traffic would be a bitch at some point of the journey and the second was he wanted to get away from everything in this town. And you couldn’t blame him. He was right when he said the pair of you were drowning, only having each other as a lifeline. To the outside world you both put on a brave face, not wanting to burden anyone with your feelings but when it came to the sanctuary of your home - this was where you both had your breakdowns, usually in each other’s arms.
Within record time your bag was packed and Jax was hauling it down to the car while you quickly ran around the house making sure all the doors and windows were locked and everything that didn’t need to be switched on was turned off and finally that the security cameras were on. Jax’s bike was safely locked in your garage.
Grabbing your phone off the kitchen counter, you headed to the front door ready to start what you were sure was going to be a messy week. But boy were you ready for it. Locking the door behind you, you glared at Jax leaning against the bonnet of your matte grey Audi TT RS. Jax wasn’t phased by the death glare, he was used to it.
“How many fucking times, Teller?” You growled, taking quick steps towards him. “Stop sitting on my car,”
“‘Jax, stop sitting on my car, you will scratch the wrap.’” He smirked, mimicking you in a high pitched voice as he wrapped his arms around your waist. The look on his face said it all, he looked so relaxed as you took in his features. The effects of the divorce from Tara were all still present in the dark circles that surrounded his eyes, the twinkle and the fire in those baby blues no longer there. “Now get that ass in the car before I beat you to the driver's seat. I have set the nav up and it is saying we should hit Vegas at around six pm so that gives enough time to get changed and find somewhere for food.”
Rolling your eyes at him, you sometimes wished you never put him on the insurance as you always fought on who would be driving, but for times like this you were glad. It meant you could at least share the responsibility on the long trip. Wiggling out of his grip, you walked around your car to the driver’s side, pulling the door open and sliding into the seat.
The deep rumble of the engine sent shivers down your spine. It was a sound that you heard every single day but one you would never get sick of hearing. It always brought a smile to your face, feeling the vibrations through the steering wheel as you waited for Jax to get in the car before slamming it into reverse and speeding out of the driveway.
“Well aren’t you the best,” you laughed, glancing down to see you had a full tank of fuel, so at least you didn’t have to stop for that.
“I put the good shit in as well,” he smirked proudly, as he reached into the back, pulling out a bag stuffed full of goodies. “I also pretty much cleared the gas station out of snacks.”
“Of course. Can’t have a road trip without snacks.”
“Damn right,” Jax nodded, reaching out to turn the radio up. Glancing over, this was the first time in weeks that you had seen him this happy as he tore open the pack of gummy bears with his teeth. Shaking your head at him, you saw he was smiling, but the thing that made you smile was this wasn’t the fake one he had been wearing. This was a real smile.
The windows were down, the music loud, and you both had cigarettes hanging between your lips. It had been ages since you and Jax had hit the road for a spontaneous road trip. It was one of the many things that you both loved but you were made to feel guilty about it by your respective partners at the time. Both got extremely jealous when you two would hang out alone.
“Where’s your head at?” Jax asked softly, turning the radio down slightly before planting his hand on your thigh, slowly rubbing your skin with his thumb through the rips of your jeans.
“Just thinking about the last time we did this,” you said, flicking the smoke out of the window, turning your gaze to Jax briefly before looking back at the road. “It’s been a while,” you sighed.
“Tell me about it, babe, but the controlling parts of our life are gone, so we don’t have to feel guilty about fucking off somewhere to get off the grid.” He nodded, squeezing your thigh, reassuring you. “We just need to take the time to heal - Oh god, not this song again,” Jax groaned, turning the radio down even further as Easy On Me played for the fourth time this hour, “I swear they play it every other song, like just play something else.”
“Don’t get me wrong it is a good song but talk about over-playing it.” You laughed, putting your foot down as you hit the highway, feeling the turbo kick in and the car pull onto the open road. You kept flicking your gaze between the speedometer and the road ahead of you, your smirk growing wider as the car kept responding. The feeling that it gave you made you feel free, it was kind of like you were flying, with no cares in the world. As you started laughing, you felt the weight of the world slowly crumble away, as you and your best friend tore up the tarmac.
Jax couldn’t take his eyes off you, smiling because you were smiling and laughing, a sound he hadn’t heard for a while. It only reinforced his decision of this last minute trip, hoping that by the end of it you would both be feeling more like yourselves without the weight of the world crushing you into the ground.

Creating a RESTful API with Java, JAX-RS, and JSON
Creating a RESTful API with Java, JAX-RS, and JSON ============================== Introduction Creating a RESTful API with Java, JAX-RS, and JSON is an essential skill for any developer working in web development. A RESTful API is a web API that conforms to the principles of REST (Representational State of Resource). JAX-RS (Java API for RESTful Web Services) is a Java API that simplifies the…

AAAA idk if my other ask went in but I think it was for your oc Jax w 7 and 21 from that as game ?? But if my other one DID go in then dont worry abt this one if u dont wanna alsjdkhfg
IT DID IM JUST so slow at responding to asks omg kjsdhkjsfd
I shan’t complain though because I love rambling about my OCs to no end, though apologies if this lacks coherency it is like 3 AM right now? But thank you sm for the ask!
3. What does your oc’s voice sound like? (Or, if you have one, what’s their voiceclaim?) Can they sing, whistle, or roll their rs? Do they have any speech impediments or notable dialects/accents?
Honestly!! This is something that I’ve struggled for the longest time with! I keep trying to think of a voice for Jax and I’ve yet to settle on anything? I’ve figured his voice would be on the higher end, generally being heavily emotive unless he absolutely wants/needs to mute out his feelings... which, either way, is a good tell to get a grasp on his state of mind in that moment, same with the pitch of it that well follows suit. Jax definitely has an awful singing voice, but I’d imagine him being able to whistle, roll his r’s, and he is (canonically to my campaign!) able to do other accents very well. Otherwise, he has an extremely strong Elvish accent, though I’m not sure what accent in the real world it’d be reflective of (one of my friends suggested Australian, which I can see for better or worse,).
7. What song reminds you of this oc? Does this match up with the type of music your oc likes to listen to?
yes /j
Realistically? An absolute fuckton of songs, though I’d have to say Grand Finale (matches his general personality and what I want his character growth to be like!) by Studio Killers; Nightlife, Music People, Welcome Kingdom of Addiction, and Ghosts of Utopia (all discuss very corruptive influences on his life and thus how those then reflect on his own actions and ultimately drag him down, making him suffer more and more) by IAMX; The World Does Not Revolve Around You and Irresistible (this man’s awful ego) by Temposhark; and The Prince (his present self more-or-less being reflected upon by him when he’s older) by Madeon! I can’t say this without including songs about his pairings, so I particularly associate Achilles, Come Down (if there’s any song that I could dedicate to their dynamic as a whole, it would be this) by Gang of Youths with Jax and Dekida (where I find that the singer’s voice would match Kida’s, to reflect on the previous question), then world.search(you); (again, another close descriptor of Jax and Hazel’s dynamic, particularly while they both think the other is dead) by Mili with Jax and Hazel! None of these match his music taste, I’d imagine at most he might listen to a FEW songs from IAMX, but regularly I think he’d listen to rap..?
21. What’s a fact you haven’t shared about this oc?
THERE’S SO MUCH... this man has an incredible amount of lore and things to his personality, I couldn’t even begin to start with just one... but I think I’ll go with the most recent development of him since it’s fun? So, to give context, Jax’s forearms and hands are completely black, their surface looking a lot like charred wood with many, many lacerations thanks to corruption from The Tower (and to give even more context, this whole world has a singular set of very magical tarot cards called the Dwelling Cards that all come with their own unique properties, abilities, intuitions, and corruptions, generally being held by a person that matches their stereotypical traits within divination. Only one Card can be held at once by a person, unless that person holds The Fool like Jax), as upon killing his father who held it, Jax took the card and it completely corrupted his hands which now burn with absolute hell levels of pain. From this, his mother created gloves for him which numb the pain of the corruption, though it still hurts plenty and tends to spike at random moments regardless; their edges are magically sewn into his skin to ensure that they will never accidentally come off. Eight levels of context aside and completely disregarding that I’ve mentioned this nowhere before besides TH, the one thing that I really wanted to talk about was the solution since I really haven’t put that anywhere before! I was thinking that when this whole situation gets sorted out and dealt with, since my campaign has an odd focus on elemental creatures (the Bronze Dragon, Mary, & a stone/construct hawk goddess, Uvetta, are like. two major characters), I’d make his blood turn golden in response (I think Uvetta would partake in his healing..? This would take more context, but for basic knowledge she is something of a healer and is also the essential creator of the Dwelling Cards) to match, in a sense, his ego and status, reflective of how much he sees himself as something wonderful and how others do too, but also how he’s not only a “null” prince but an idol, regarded by, looked up to, and favoured by many to the point where he makes his own self conform to these visions much like a trophy. He’s a god in his own right to some extent, the golden blood only reflecting that. On its own, the properties of the blood can be healing at first in regards to a person’s mental state, though if enough of it consumed it quickly becomes addicting and intoxicating whilst not once quenching thirst, only drawing people in to drink more and more. It is cool, kind of like water that’s been sitting out for a while in a colder location, and it solidifies into a metal outside of Jax’s body after some time passes. Since I think it’s cute, his own blush becomes very much golden, though I think at the same time his tears would turn black for... no true reason really, it just sounds kind of fun and ultimately reflects his contrast from the self he presents to others to who he actually is. Bodily fluids aside, I feel as though his hands and forearms would be permanently covered in tinted skin, like thick lines of blue kind of like bandages running over them.
#aro-zagreus#jax caeglas#jax#dwelling cards#my ocs#dc#dc spoilers#i think i do need to tag this as that#i do not think any of my campaign members have this blocked though. that is ok#here are random spoilers :)#long post
