what in fates’ name was a monthery?
Day Seven: Jason Never Died | Free Space
Apollo sprinted across the lands of Olympus as his son trailed behind him. Since the incident when Jason was fifteen, Apollo never let his son leave his side. He had nearly declared war against the mortals for daring to tell him that he could not have custody of his own son.
How could a mortal playing dress up be able to raise his son better than he? Their silly little myths make them believe as if they knew the truth of deities. Foolish mortals. Their stories filled with inaccuracies to make the gods appear more human. Ridiculous. Attempting to understand forces beyond their pitiful knowledge.
Even in face of a deity’s anger, they still had the audacity to question him. They send the Amazon princess to Olympus monthly for “checkups”. If only those little mortals knew that their princess spent most of her time training and reading with her son than criticizing his parenting methods.
Apollo scowled to himself. His son seemed to soak up her affection more than he did his own. The god gnawed his lip in worry. Was he doing something wrong? Surely, Jason would have told him if there was a problem. Apollo set out two hours of his schedule to speak with his son without any restraints every day. Even when Jason didn’t want to talk, Apollo was determined to spend the two hours giving the boy his full and undivided attention. Apollo’s own father doesn’t even bother him during these hours.
No one did.
Except---
Apollo could sense someone else watching the duo as they raced around the kingdom. His blue eyes flashed around them once before locking on the target floating almost unseen above them.
Aphrodite’s brat.
Apollo was not blind to see that the boy held a major amount of affection for his son. The amount of love in his eyes almost made Apollo roar filled with a protective rage. His son was much too young to have to fight off suitors.
Especially when that multicolored brat had the audacity to draw his son nude. Apollo should shoot him out the sky.
But—
“Ky,” Jason exclaimed in excitement. Of course, his son would just so happen to have affection for the boy himself. Apollo had to listen to ten hours of non-stop ranting about how perfect Kyle was and how he would never fall for Jason. [Which is appalling. Who wouldn’t love his son?]
Apollo slowed to a stop before turning to look back at his son. His son who was turning slightly red in the face as Aphrodite’s Little Heartbreaker produced a bouquet of flowers made from his lantern ring mixed in with flowers from his mother’s garden.
The god gnashed his teeth together. If that boy thought he was going to hurt his son, he’d kill him so brutally that people would wonder if he had ever been alive.
“Hi Jason,” the boy muttered. Fates help him, there were literal hearts in his eyes. “These are for you.”
“Thank you,” his son whispered back in awe. Apollo was not losing his father-son time to this ridiculousness. The boy either better ask his son on a date (just so Apollo can have an excuse to draw his bow. You always asked for the parent’s permission first.) or he could leave them alone. “What are they for?”
Kyle blushed despite himself. The red of his cheeks clashed terribly with his tan skin. He dropped to the ground and let the light of his ring extinguish. The chiton he was wearing was the color of salmon as he stood almost shyly in front of his son.
His son.
Apollo leaned against the nearest tree watching the two with appraising eyes.
Kyle cleared his throat, “Its for your six monthery.”
Apollo and Jason’s brows both furrowed. What in Fates’ name was a monthery?
“Monthery,” Jason asked almost hesitant. It sounded like it physically pained him to say such a dumbass thing. His son could do so much better than someone that didn’t know how to speak.
Kyle nodded as if the world was apart of any language at all, “Yeah, the others back on earth called it a monthery. I promised that I’d say it exactly as that. There are a lot more gifts from all of us back at your father’s temple.”
Jason just seemed to look more confused. Apollo bore an almost approving smile. It would seem that not all the mortals were idiots. Jason deserved to be worshipped.
He was after all the newest god in the pantheon.
Jason. God of loyalty, betrayal, beauty, children, rebirth, languages, and lost souls. Patron of the alleyways.
Jason grabbed the bouquet of flowers and buried his face in between the petals. Apollo felt his heart lurch at the sight of hyacinth within the bundle.
Damn Aphrodite and all her children! Only they knew the way to unravel him.
Kyle smiled gently, “Happy Six Months of Immortality, Jason.”
Fine.
Apollo may consider him worthy of his son.
And seeing the smile his child gave in return?
Well, Apollo had never been more grateful that Jason never died.

“Hey.” Kyle says, soft in a jarringly different way to how Jason’s been reassured before. There’s no hesitation in the way he speaks, nothing in his voice that gives off the aura of dealing with a wounded, but still feral, unpredictable animal that Jason has dealt with before. It’s surprising, ironically makes the old, hardened paranoia curled around his stomach prick up on edge, but at the same time it’s soothing, welcome and calming.
Sometimes Guy’s fond little offhand comment about him being ‘more of a paradox than most’ makes sense.

love and life
Day Two: WhiteLantern!Kyle | Young Justice Verse
Since becoming a White Lantern, Kyle had been blessed with all kind of powers. Unlike most lanterns, he didn’t learn how to use their ring powers from their respective corps. He was surrounded by the personification of the emotions themselves.
He was more than the White Lantern.
He was the son of Love.
[And man, it had been a trip to tell the Star Sapphires that they were using their rings wrong. Of course, some of the more traditional users had been offended that a man was telling them what to do.]
But there was one thing that he never expected being both.
With the ring amplify the powers he was born with [and made him question continuously why he wasn’t given a sapphire ring to begin with], he could feel all the love in the air on Olympus. He nearly drove him crazy. He didn’t understand how his mother and brother and every other entity of love could put up with it.
Just being around the High-King and Queen was enough to drive him insane.
And that didn’t mention all the love the parents had for their children or the children had for their siblings.
When that happened, he usually tended to hide away in his Uncle’s temple. But Apollon had his days where his grief and love for his son seemed to overpower everything else. The sun seemed to shine brighter and dimmed lighter in response.
Kyle made it his business to keep away during those times. He either shot off back into space or he went somewhere were the sun did not shine.
Like right now, he was flying over Gotham at night.
Which was wonderful because he could still feel the aftershocks of Apollo’s grief.
His ring pinged, “Lifeform detected.”
Yeah, no shit. He was in a city filled with people.
“Lifeform detected. Begin resurrection in 5.”
What.
A small beacon of light escape from his ring that Kyle followed desperately. It led him to Gotham’s cemetery. Looking around, Kyle didn’t see what was so special at first until he caught sight of the two men standing near a set of graves.
Just from the feeling of them, he knew that they were deities.
What stood out the most was that the two of them were standing near the grave that his ring’s light was siphoning into. He really hoped he wasn’t bringing about the zombie apocalypse. He’s pretty sure that King Hades and Lord Thanatos would kill him.
Squaring his shoulders, Kyle made his way over to the two deities.
They turned once he got close enough and Kyle blanched when he realized the two were the aforementioned gods. He quickly moved to drop into a bow before a hand stops him.
“Good. You’re here,” Uncle Hades stated. He turned his head back to the grave. “We’ve been trying to figure out a decent way to revive this soul. His fate has taken a turn. He was never meant to die.”
Kyle’s smart response: “Uhhh.”
Thanatos nods his head a little irritated. He wasn’t in the business of granting life back to the dead, but he was making an exception. “We leave him in your care.”
“Resurrection: 75% complete.”
Kyle jumped before gazing back down at the grave.
Here lies
Jason Todd
Two gods grappling in the air flashes of black and gold. A steak of silver and green wrapping around the golden god pulling him an away.
August 16th XXXX- April 27th XXXX
“Tell me, Kyle. What is your opinion of death?”
A loving son and a loving brother.
Cries of grief and rage. The harsh bearing of the sun. Asclepius had to be kept under watch. Apollo wouldn’t leave his temple. It was turning out to be close to Demeter & Persephone.
There was a small scripture in Greek that lined the tombstone.
May the gods be with you.
Olympus had always been beautiful. Even in its grief, there was beauty. Kyle felt stronger and weaker just being around it.
“Resurrection: 100% complete.”
Kyle realized three things.
One) He was alone in the graveyard.
Two) It had begun pouring down raining.
Three) The ground in front of him was collapsing inwards.
He stepped back letting the power of his ring surround him before a body appeared from the ground. Kyle squeaked.
[Absently, Kyle noticed how attractive the boy was. The reddish brown curls that reminded him of Olympian sunsets. The freckles on his cheeks that reminded him of the stars. The tanned skin that so beautifully bronzed.]
“Dad? Bruce? Apol—”
Oh, now that just broke Kyle’s heart. He was calling for his fathers. Kyle reached out to grab the boy when suddenly he was pulled down to the ground. He got a face filled with mud before the body was flipping over him.
What. The. Fuck?
When he wiped the mud from his face and turned around, the zombie was stumbling away.
“Ring, give me a vital scan.”
Bright white light engulfed the boy as it took in his vitals.
“Scan completed. Brain damaged. Four broken ribs. Twisted ankle. Nerve damage to fingernails. Oxygen is slowly going to the brain. Healing factor is suspended.”
Fuck.
Kyle flew towards the undead boy before having to dodge a fist and a kick. The two danced around each other as the boy dodged the blasts of white that were trying to get him to stay still so he could heal.
“Jason! Stop! Please!”
But it didn’t seem like the boy could hear him anymore before he jumped directly at Kyle. The White Lantern jerked back.
For a dead guy, he sure knew how to throw a punch.
The boy disappeared into the night while Kyle took the skies to search for him. Metas were technically not allowed in Gotham. But Kyle was here on godly business and therefore not a meta. And besides, he would be doing Bruce a favor if he could find his adopted son. But still, he didn’t have time to argue the technicalities with the man and he definitely wasn’t in the mood for his family to kill the human. He bended the light around him until he was invisible.
“Ring, start tracking.”
Bright white footsteps caught his attention. When he flew down to look, he noticed the muddy prints across the ground. They led him throw alleyway and holes in the walls. Past prostitute which given his mother was the patron of prostitutes… he waved his power over them giving them just a little bit more warmth and protection from the cold. There was also a blessing that whatever they made that night would be double the amount than usual.
Kyle stood in disbelief as he watched zombie boy fighting off a group of attackers before he seemed to sense him. The other demigod stood stock-still before seemingly look directly at Kyle with his blank gaze and taking off again.
It was going to be a long night.

here comes the bind
Day Four: Soulmates | Wedding
The day was finally here.
The day of the JayKyle wedding.
Apollo and Aphrodite were currently riding around in his chariot scaring the living hell out of everyone. No one had seen the gods of beauty this angry since Apollo killed Python and Aphrodite was torturing Psyche. The two of them were supposed to be helping their children get ready, but the day had to be perfect. That meant everyone needed to get with the program.
The chosen location wasn’t Themyscira or Bana-Mighdall. It wasn’t anywhere in LA, Gotham or Ireland. It wasn’t anywhere in Greece or Rome. It wasn’t even on Olympus.
No, they decided to host the wedding on Outlaw Island.
[They made sure to invite everyone even Eris. No one wanted a repeat of the Trojan War.]
The Fates were sitting in their own section ready to show off the life strings of the two demigods. [The news that they were preparing to give was going to be a shocker.]
The gods that each a hand in raising the boys and watching them grow sat near the front. Hera would be the one marrying the two. The Outlaws would have sat behind them if not for being members of the wedding party. Their mortal families [which for Kyle meant the Lanterns] sat behind them. Kyle’s sat on the left while Jason’s sat on the right. It was to represent the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. There had been quite a commotion when Bruce realized that he was going to be sat near Talia. Only to then throw an even bigger fit when he realized that she came before him in the lineup. (His feelings will be so hurt when he realized the most important part.] Right behind their mortal families sat the Amazons who all had a hand in training the boys. Each side of them. Scattered throughout the rest of the seats were other members of the pantheon and the Justice League. They were seated by their level of importance to the couple (a lot of members of the Justice League and various assassins and aliens were seated near the back).
Demeter and Dionysus grew apple, myrtle, and laurel trees before morphing them into archways. There was backdrop of the couple’s favorite hill where one could look over the sea point out where the sun connects.
Poseidon pulled seashell from the sea up to create the walkway. Bust of the gods were dotted around the seating area.
Hera sniffed a little disdainfully, “We were going to do a traditional Hellenic wedding, but the boys wanted to modernize it. Luckily, we managed to get most of everything done, so now we can begin the service.”
She gave her stepson a look and Apollo began to sing while the Muses harmonized with him. Smiles lit up everyone’s face to hear the pure joy and love in the father’s voice. He was nothing if not lovable. The mortals swayed on their feet due to the divine energy spreading throughout the song. It took everything in their power and then some to keep them seated.
Suddenly, another voice began to sing, and everyone turned to look. Draped in a cream chiton with a golden chlamys around him, Jason looked like red headed version of his father before him. His freckles stood out on his skin. The black dye was fading away at the ends of his hair. The symbol of the lyre was on a band wrapped around his arm. Laurel leaves were braided into his hair. His blue green eyes had a ring of gold surrounding them as he smiled ecstatically. On his arm was Talia who smirked smugly at Bruce as she walked her son down the aisle. She was wearing a pale gold peplos with her hair falling into princess curls. She smiled lovingly at him when she had to let him go, giving him a kiss on the forehead, before moving on to her seat. Jason continued to sing alongside his father who had tears prickling at the corner of his eyes.
The sound of giggling could be heard before Lian Harper skipped out into the party. Persephone had braided flowers into her hair while giving her seeds of rose and hyacinth. Every time the little girl threw to the ground said flower burst into full bloom, yet the scent never smelled too much nor appalling.
Another beat passed before Kyle appeared dressed in a salmon himation. Jason audibly gasped at the sight and Kyle froze for half a second after seeing him. Giggles could be heard from their friends and the nymphs at the two’s reaction. Hal had to tug on Kyle’s hand to get him moving.  Myrtle leaves had been braided into Kyle’s hair giving him a look almost like the nymphs. His tanned legs were long and true with rose wrapped around his ankles before tying around his sandals. His iridescent eyes looked like rainbow prisms flashing a deep pink and blue and indigo. Jason’s heart skipped a beat. He could stare in Kyle’s eyes until the end of time and still never have enough of them.
Apollo and the Muses’ song slowed to a stop as the two made it to the end. Hal smiled at Kyle like a proud father before patting him on the shoulder. He would’ve ruffled his hair if it weren’t for the way that Aphrodite was glaring daggers with a smile on her face.
The couple stood before each other in front of the High Queen. The Goddess of Marriage. She smiled at them both. She remembered the wide-eyed looks both gave when they had been first introduced to the family. She remembered the light blushes on each of their cheeks. The first thing Jason had said was that she was pretty, and Kyle had immediately ignored everyone as he began to sketch her right then and there. They had followed all of them around like little ducklings whenever the two were on Olympus. Kyle with his mother and Jason with the Amazons.
Hera will admit if only to herself that she had thought that Jason would end up with Artemis from Bana-Mighdall. At least until she realized that the girl wasn’t interested in boys and that Jason saw her as another sister figure. She had also thought that Kyle would end up with Jessica once the female lantern came around, but the two of them had a close familial bond that warmed Hera’s heart.
The ceremony passed in a blur for the two boys as they stared each other in the eyes. Hera’s words being tuned out as Kyle felt the love that Jason held for him [though it was tinged with something else. Something a little darker.] and Jason could see their future together [though it faded a little around the edges like an old movie].
Their vows had been short and sweet as their guests stared in awe at the sight of the boys’ essences began blend around them. Hera was going all out for everyone to see how beautiful and wonderful the two were.
Hera smiled with a teeth and threatening eyes as she looked out into the crowd, “If anyone objects to this union, please speak now or forever hold your piece.” Everyone glanced nervously at each other while Apollo, Aphrodite, Hal, and Talia calmly fingered their weapons.
“We do,” three voices stated together. Everyone turned in shock to look at who would be foolish enough to go against the very protective wedding party. Jaws dropped as they took in the sight of the Morai.
Clotho was holding onto a life string that was so slowly unraveling, “They are soulmates,” Clotho stated. “A bond more beautiful and truer than Helen and Paris. Yet, just like those two… their lives are doom due to outside influences interfering with their bond.”
Apollo and Aphrodite started to glow with rage. Even their anger paled in contrast with Hera’s. She planned this wedding from top to bottom. Not a single thing was to go wrong. Yet, the fates were here to tell them that their efforts were for nothing. They would ruin this occasion. The three of them began to yell loudly.
“What outside influence? We all made sure to be careful and abide by your rules,” Hera snarled. She began to glow with power. Every mortal around senses began to go off screaming danger.
Lachesis only stared at her as Apollo and Aphrodite were being held back and comforted. Even Bruce and Dick had gotten over themselves to keep Talia pinned in place. This was her son’s wedding. Hal was being held the combine willpower of the other Lanterns and the Flash [Barry and Wally]. It wouldn’t be the first time the Fates were faced with a god’s [and mortals’] anger nor would it be the last. “On the day of Kyle’s proposal, Jason managed to nick himself with one of Eros’ arrows. One of his most famed love arrows. Apollyon, you know how it feels. The cut may have healed, but that does not mean the effects were gone. And such, Kyle himself managed to accidently cut himself when returning said arrows. Why do you think Eros has disappeared?”
She was right. Eros and Psyche were gone. No one knew where they went. Kyle had been so sad to know that his favored brother wouldn’t even attend his wedding. There had been a lot of tears and anger and yells when Kyle realized that.
Atropos rose a brow, “You should all figure out a way to fix this. This is not love anymore. And you, Aphrodite knows what happens when a child a love cannot feel.”
Aphrodite did know. Her baby wouldn’t die. No, he would fade away. He would slowly lose all motor function. Then his mind will begin to break slowly. Slowly but surely, his heart will stop pumping blood until it stops completely. He would be paper thin in touch with only the slightest contact leaving his skin to peel away like ash. She felt sick. She couldn’t believe she was going through this again.
Jason had noticed that Kyle seemed different. His bright eyes were look dull and blank. His evenly spread tan seemed as if the color was seeping right out of him. Even with Apollo’s essence healing him from inside out… Kyle just seemed so drained. Jason had thought it was stress from the wedding. Kyle had been filled with nerves. He threw up on every other occasion. But now--- he was a child of love. He was a Lantern. He couldn’t not feel love. It was impossible. Kyle had to feel. He was one of the most expressive people that Jason knew. Every ring that he wielded could be traced back to love. It was why Jason always said that Aphrodite was the most powerful of the Olympians.
Jason turned to look at Kyle when he felt something shift. His teal eyes met with Kyle’s and suddenly, Jason felt this uncontrollable hunger. He loved Kyle. He needed Kyle. He could see the same desire running through Kyle’s tired eyes.
Something must have shown on his face because as soon as he began to lunge for Kyle, Talia tackled him to the ground. Aphrodite yanked Kyle away from the altar as if he was giant cat. The two of them struggled to get to each other.
Before Kyle seemed to freeze before turning away and vomiting right on the ground. Specks of blood appeared, and Aphrodite cried out in shock. Jason could only stare in horror.
Again?
Kyle was dying.

sunshine
Day Five: Overprotective | Hurt/Comfort
The gods stood in silence as Jason and Aphrodite’s cries filled the air. Jason’s pleads for the body lying motionless on the ground falling on slightly deaf ears.
Kyle was dying.
A vicious fight between the yellow and red lanterns against the Green lanterns of Earth left Kyle severely injured. His comrades rushed him back home as quickly as they could. Aphrodite had only barely sensed her son coming into the earth atmosphere before she was whisking them all up to the Heavens. She screamed loud enough to have almost the entirely pantheon rushing to her side.
Apollo rushed forward as quickly as he could to heal his son’s lover, but his soul was only barely hanging on. Even now as Aphrodite and his son wept, the god of healing continued to try to save the boy’s life. The first demigod to be born in centuries. He had brought a light to Olympus that no one had seen missing.
Kyle struggles to meet Jason’s eyes, but when he does, he smiles gently, “You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when the skies are ray. You’ll never know dear; how much I love you.”
Aphrodite wailed.
Jason nearly stopped breathing as a fresh batch tears poured down his face. “Ky- “
“Baby, we don’t stand a chance, its sad but it’s true. I’m way too good at goodbyes.”
The Lanterns as one fell to their knees. They knew of how fiercely the boy loved and how deeply it hurt when his lovers died. When Sinestro poisoned Aphrodite to the point that she almost faded, he had the look of resignation in his face. His eyes had looked so dead.
Was it selfish for them to wish he would relieve that pain than to see him struggling at death’s doors?
“Kyle, baby, no. You’re not dying,” Jason declared. He placed his hands-on Kyle and the warmth of healing stretched through him. Jason could feel his great uncle Hades keeping Kyle’s soul in place. But it just wouldn’t catch. It wouldn’t catch.
“Mother, I know that you’re tired of being alone,” he rasped. Aphrodite laid her head across Kyle’s chest as the tears continuously flowed out of her. Her least favorite goddesses, Athena and Artemis, stood on either side of her providing her with what little comfort that they could.
“Wear excuses on my sleeve, hide my heart for you to keep. I’ve been falling for you slow.”
Aphrodite kept shaking her head in disbelief, “Not my baby. Not my son. Please, Fates. Not my baby.”
Jason shook his head in disbelief. Kyle was not dying. He was not. They had plans. They were getting married in a few months. They were going to retire. They had saved up enough money to buy a home in Castellan. Jason was going to open a bookstore and a bakery. Kyle was going to open an artistry. He wanted somewhere that he could leave all his paint water lying around while he created commissions for the gods. Jason’s own father had even found the perfect place for him to set up his shop. A building on top of hill where the sun and moon light lit the up the country perfectly.
“Kyle, please. Fight it,” Aphrodite whispered brokenly. She had raised her baby. She had been there for everything. She knew it would hurt to watch her child pass on (it always did. The pain never dulled no matter how distant the gods may be), but if anything, this may cause her to fade completely.
“Mētēr?”
With tears in her eyes, Aphrodite met her child’s eyes, “Yes, my little dove?”
“I’m tired.”
Everyone lurched forward as if they were able to physically stop him, “DON’T GO TO SLEEP!”
Kyle jump with the little energy that he had. His soul locked into place for just a second before slipping away again. Apollo’s face twisted into a determined frown. The boy was not dying. Not today. Not if Apollo had anything to say about it.
Aphrodite placed her hands around his face gently, “Stay awake, little dove. Look at me, little one.”
Kyle struggled to meet his mother’s eyes. His own kaleidoscopic were glazed. Aphrodite felt another wave of tears overtake her. “I know sometimes we don’t agree. But I’m always on your team. And is somebody ever get mean if they try to take a swing somebody hold my earrings cause they gone have to get through me.”
Jason was trembling as he kept trying to force Kyle’s soul to stay in fucking place. He was not losing the love of his life. Not today. Not ever.
Kyle turned his head slightly to meet Jason’s eyes. “You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy.”
Apollo with tears pouring out his eyes shoves his hand through the young man’s chest.
Everyone turned away as a golden glow exploded throughout the room.
Kyle screamed.

a surprising adoption
DAY THREE: OMEGAVERSE | [ACCIDENTAL BABY ACQUISTION]
It all started with Hermes.
Of course, it did.
He was the god of thievery.
He was also considered the god of speed.
When his nephew, Kyle, started hanging around those mortal speedsters. He was intrigued. Diana, Donna, and Cassie tended to keep him away from their mortal friends.
He never met anyone that was as fast as he was. Even Apollo didn’t count since he tended to beat his friend on occasions.
Hermes was only the god of speed. These speedsters embodied speed. With a mischievous smile on his face, Hermes set off to pull of his greatest heist yet.
The person up next was Apollo and Hephaestus. They each took one looked at the redheaded archer that Jason was friends with, and both went: “Adoption time.”
It was awkward for both when they appeared outside of Roy’s workshop. They stared blankly at each other before both dived for the door. The two wrestled with Apollo coming out of top when Roy half asleep and more than a little paranoid had one of his exploding arrows pointed at their faces.
The stance. The detailing of the weaponry. The fierce look in his eyes. The half brothers shared a glance before nodding their heads.
With a slow smirk dancing on their faces, they reached for the mortal and disappeared from the earthly plane.
The next person to go was the man of willpower himself.
Ares had taken one look at Hal and just knew.
He kneeled with broken fists and knees. A part still untamed. He denied his truth self because he couldn’t stand to cause his friends pain. Ares decided to help him. This little mortal. This little child.
He understood where he was coming. Being the personification of war itself. He knew how hard it was to push down the urges. Maybe that’s why he always admired the little solider. From the second he saw him next Kyle.
It wasn’t his so-called willpower to overcome fear. It was his willpower to be better. He could see it in his eyes the need to cause destruction… the need to let all his grief and anger out being held back by a stubborn mindset and a sense of duty.
Ares knew rage. And he knew how deadly it could be when not properly managed. It had taken Kyle a while to learn how to use a weapon filled with an emotion he rarely gets to see.
The man of willpower was staring into nothing when Ares came for him. He could feel how the man reacted. The need to fight was strong.
He turned towards the god slowly with his ring beginning to glow. Ares smiled at him with all teeth before reaching out and taking him away.
After all, Ares wondered the same thing every day.
When will my war be done?
Kyle had just made it back to Earth when the Justice League called for a meeting. He was surprised to see Jason there. He knew that Jason was still considered public enemy number one. Yet, the other demigod had a blanket wrapped around him as Diana and Donna comforted him. Green Arrow was sitting beside them with his head in his hands and Dinah rubbing circles into his back.
He wasn’t the only one looking miserable or worried. Jay Garrick, Max Mercury, and Iris West-Allen were all sitting together. The woman was still crying. Not too far away from them Nightwing was sitting stock stilled. The emotions that Kyle was getting from him were filled with worry and confusion and pain. Wonder Girl and Superboy were huddled together around Red Robin as they all looked blankly around the room.
When he and the others stepped into the room, all eyes fluttered towards them. Dread filled Kyle when Diana and Donna’s face pinched. No. The last time the two of them looked so broken and closed to crying was when Jason died. Kyle couldn’t lose anyone else.
Donna walked towards him slowly wrapping him into her arms, “Oh Kyle.” He was already shaking his head. No. “Kyle, Hal’s missing.”
Hal? Hal who was basically his mortal dad. Hal who listened to him bitch and complain about his Olympian family and teased him relentlessly about the crush he had on Jason. Hal who was the reason that he was introduced to this group of highly weird people that he loved all the same. Hal who trained with him on using the rings and laughed when he used it the way his family taught him. Hal who told him that no matter what… never suppress his emotions. They are what make him.
Hal?
He could feel John and Guy right behind him. He could sense Jessica and Simon moving closer to their group. “No. No. No,”
Superman stood up from his chair, “And he’s not the only one. Flash, Kid Flash, and Impulse were taken earlier today around 2 o’clock. Witnesses claim that it was streak of silver greenish light that snatched them away. And thanks to the Red Hood and Starfire, we’ve learned that Arsenal has also turned up missing. Taken directly from his workshop. Whoever taken him was good enough to not set off any alarms, but still decided that force entry was the key. We’ve only just realized that Hal was missing due to trying to reach him when witnesses also state that a bright blood red light taken him.”
Kyle could almost throw up. Two of his friends and Hal?
“Does anyone have any leads,” stated Batman as he gazed around the room. Kyle could sense the worry the man held for his children’s emotional state, but he did his best to shove them away. Donna led Kyle over towards Diana and Jason. Cassie huddled closer towards her effectively moving Superboy and Red Robin closer to their pile also.
[Neither Jason nor Kyle would admit how could it always felt to be around other godlings. Especially during times like this.]
The meeting dragged on and on. Jason had long ago zoned out. He was vibrating with worry about Roy. It was enough that only Kori could hold on to him now for comfort. The power of the sun and light burning in his blood making his unnaturally cold skin give almost third-degree burns.
He zoned back in when Donna’s face appeared in his line of sight, “Come back to us, little sun. Diana suggested asking the gods for help. Roy and Hal are close to you and Kyle. Wally and Bart are Cassie and I’s best friends. Maybe they have seen something if not, we could always ask Apollyon what he knows of their future.”
Jason nodded his head slowly. If anything, he was perfectly fine with this plan. His best friend was missing. What he needed right now was a hug from his dad and maybe some of Aunt Demeter’s hot chocolate. Anything to distract him from whatever torture Roy could be going through right now. He chanced a glance at Kyle who was turning a little pale.
Ah, Jason forgot that being the wielder of a literal mood ring and the son of love was bad for Kyle when he was in an unfiltered setting. There were too many emotions for the other demigod right now.
“Let’s get out of here.”
Jason, Donna, and Kyle all stared blankly at the sight of five grown men dressed in onesies. Adult size onesies with typical baby slogans that you’d find in the toddler section of Walmart.
“Dad,” Jason stated. “What’s going on?”
The four gods looked up from arguing over a feeding schedule to stare at them. Hermes was the one to break out into a smile first flying over to the speedsters’ sides. “Look, you guys, it’s a speedy baby! 3 of them!”
The three of them could only stare. The three mortal speedsters looked simultaneously happy and miserable. [Though it leaned more towards happy since Uncle Hermes provided them with an all you can eat buffet.] Roy was bent over Hephaestus’ favorite workbench messing around with Apollo’s third favorite bow. [Only Jason could touch the second, and only Artemis could touch the first.] While the Speedsters may have looked slightly sad, Roy was downright ecstatic.
Hal was the only one to seem at true peace. Him and Ares were doing one of the war god’s meditation techniques. Kyle was sure that Hal’s ring was flickering white.
Hephaestus smiled slightly from where he was holding onto his anvil while Roy rattled on about the quality of Apollo’s bows. Apollo turned to look at the others, “We all had the same idea. A little surprise adoption goes a long way. Meet your cousins and half-brother.”
“Kidnapping,” Donna deadpanned. “You kidnapped them.”
Apollo rose a brow, “By human laws, they are much too old to be kids.”
“But you’re not human,” Kyle questioned. The god of plague turned his gaze onto the White Lantern and Kyle decided to be quiet. This was the same god who threatened to rip his urethra tube out with only a toothpick for not so accidently drawing Jason in nothing but a chlamys.
Donna nodded her head at Kyle’s words, “He’s right. You’re not humans. You’re gods. Deities who have lived for more than millennia. They are so young compared to you all that you really can’t even call them children.”
Hermes clapped his hands excitedly, “Exactly. Besides, your little mortal friends weren’t treating them with the respect they all deserve. So… we’re keeping them. Okay bye.”
The herald of the gods quickly flies away cackling. Jason took one glance at the floor surrounding the kidnapped mortals. There was no one Hermes was going to just let someone steal from him. He was the god of thieves. He did the stealing.
It wasn’t on the floor, but on their clothes instead. A rune that didn’t release any of them unless the god that took them allowed it.
Apollo smiled a little mockingly, “We have a council meeting to get to about the Amazons. Jason? Kyle? We leave them in your care.”
Donna choked on her laughter as she turned to Kyle and Jason, “Congratulations, it’s a boy.”

sun spilled secrets
Day One: Latern!Jason | Secret Relationship
They were tiring down from another mission from the gods. This time they had been forced to enter Pasiphae’s labyrinth to find Cupid’s arrows that Hermes had stolen away.
The two of them had always hated how monsters were reborn every thousand years or so. It would’ve made it easier if they stayed dead.
Which considering that Asterion was technically half human. They put the poor guy out of his misery and let his soul finally find peace in the Underworld. It went against everything they stood for as the Lantern of Life and the son of Healing, but life ended in death. The man bull didn’t deserve that kind of torture. It didn't take long for them to find the bow and arrows. Doves and swans had flocked to the items lying in a pasture of green grass. The little grove they were in was beautiful. Jason checked over the weapons to make sure that Hermes didn't have tricks set forth. He accidently nicked himself on one of the arrows, but being the child of healing, the small cut quickly healed.
Kyle stored the weapons away into his ring as he turned towards his mother's sacred animals. The birds flocked around, and when he turned to look back at his boyfriend, his breath caught in his throat. Swans and wolves and ravens flew around the other man. Kyle itched to grab his sketchbook. The sight was something to behold and never forgotten. He loved moments like this with Jason. Where the two of them could have just a moment to themselves and just be. Not the White Lantern. Not the Red Hood. Not the sons of Aphrodite and Apollo. Just Jason and Kyle.
The sight was beautiful. The little grove they were in was beautiful.
It was a nice place to have a picnic, but Kyle had plans for something else.
Jason was lying on his back with one hand stroking the fur of the wolf beside him. Kyle was so frustrated. Why couldn't they have more moments like this? And why was Jason so pretty?
“Has anything been going on recently at home? Lady Hera and Lady Aphrodite have been looking at me weird. And I’ve been hearing things about the Fates. Has--- Did my dad find someone to marry?”
Kyle felt his own heart break at the look of sorrow on Jason’s face. Despite what Apollo may think, Jason cherishes him completely. And the demigod had wanted nothing more than his father to fall in love and marry someone. He had always been sad about the heart break that Apollo has went through.
“No, he hasn’t, but I have.”
Jason turned to him in shock and probably just a little hurt. But he didn’t expect to see Kyle draped in his most formal chiton. A crown of myrtle leaves a top of his hair. His kaleidoscopic eyes were leaned towards the sapphire scale matching the ring on his finger. A small shy smile adorns his face.
“Wha- “
Kyle pulled a small box out from somewhere. He perched himself on one knee as he looked Jason in the eyes. The hair on their arms rose signaling that they had the attention of their family. Kyle would usually back at away a time like this. They had been keeping their relationship a secret for years now. Probably ever since Kyle managed to help resurrect Jason.
Which granted was extremely hard to hide away when his mother and brother were the goddess and god of love. And Jason’s father was the god of knowledge and truth and prophecy. It was nearly impossible to hide anything from them.
“Jason Peter, I think I have loved you long before I even knew you. The stories that our family wove about you filled with me joy. And maybe the hero community only saw you as a bad dream, but everyone on Olympus saw you as the sun itself. Even the power of Helios and Apollo seem lesser in exchange to how brightly they said you shined.”
There were tears in Jason’s eyes. He knows that his family had grieved for him. He knows that some of them still do. They would look at him and cry for the time they missed but they cried just for the joy of having him back. When he was kid running around in the boots, he hadn’t been close to his grandfather. Now, Zeus took him on as another advisor. As a way to connect more with the humans that they were slowly being forced to interact with.
He was pretty sure that his Aunt Artemis tracked him whenever he was on Earth. One cannot hide from the goddess of the hunt.
For two years, his father refused to even leave his side. Helios had taken over driving the sun chariot again and even then, the titan of the sun made sure to stay by his side also.
“The day of the resurrection had been one filled with confusion. Even after you attacked me and escaped, you never left my mind. And then I met you. And you were different than what the stories painted you, yet you were still the same. An asshole yes, but there was a beauty to you that drew me in. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love.”
Aphrodite was sitting on Apollo pinning him to the ground. Tears were streaming down her face. Oh, her darling boy was really doing this.
“Getting to know you as the gods then started sending us on quests together. I got to learn more about you. You were smart and sweet and funny. One would think it’s because Apollo is your father, but I could tell that it was all you. There was just something about you that drew my attention. A part of me tried to deny it, but suddenly my sketchbooks were filled with you. Suddenly, I wanted to be on earth flying across the globe with you and the other outlaws. I wanted to brave Apollo’s rage and be with you. And I know this was supposed to be a secret. We hadn’t been ready to let the others know and come outside of our little bubble of happiness but—”
Here Kyle took a deep breath as he opened the box in his hands. The ring was a mixture of imperial gold and celestial bronze. Sapphire stones littered the ring with swans engraved into the band. Kyle had worked tiredly with Hephaestus to get it right and pour some of the energy of his ring into the band.
No matter how far away Kyle was… he would always be by Jason’s side.
The ring was beautiful.
“You make my life shine brighter than the sun. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Jason Peter, son of the sharpshooter, son of light… will you bind yourself to me in heart and in soul?”
Jason stared at Kyle with naked shock on his face. He swallowed thickly even as tears welled up in his eyes. Kyle was worried that he had done or said something wrong. His worries were for naught when Jason sat up and reached for Kyle. Both their eyes shuttered closed once their lips connected.
Aphrodite was full on bawling on Olympus. Apollo had long stop struggling and just watched the scene take place. He may not have like the fact that her brat was proposing to his son (without his permission!), but he knew that the words that Kyle spoke was true. The boy truly loved his son. And Jason seemed to love him back.
There was no one better for his child (and didn't really help that Apollo also had a hand in raising Kyle).
Jason leaned back to look Kyle in his eyes. The bright teal eyes that Kyle could never color correctly stared him directly the face as if searching for something. A small smile danced across Jason's face as he reached for Kyle's lantern ring that was glowing an almost embarrassing shade of pink. But Kyle could feel what Jason was trying to tell him. He could feel the love that Jason had for amplified by his blood born powers and the ring mixed together.
"There is no other person that I could want to be with. I love you, Kyle. Yes, I'll marry you. I'll bind myself to you, son of sparrows, son of love."
The two leaned in to kiss once more not knowing that the entire pantheon exploded with happiness.
The wheels of fate was turning, but would it last?
