HOME SWEET HOME
JC and Meena's place is currently a work in progress, but the pair of them now live together in Celestial Hills. They own a townhouse in a brownstone building that happens to be just across the street from Aaliyah Rose's place (Aaliyah happens to own majority of the apartments on that street and Meena may or may not be considering buying up the neighbor's home to use as storage for all of the stuff she's accumulated over the year's as well). But for now, their place has some quaint gardens in the front, a cozy backyard with a shed of JC (apparently its for his werewolf things - things of which he refused to clarify). They also have a hot tub on the roof (as a compromise for JC refusing to get a pool given his beef with his father who runs the pool supply store) as well as a movie projector. Within the brownstone, they have a few handful of rooms. Meena has one room that she's set up as her paint studio. Another room likely has its fair share of instruments in it when she wants to play piano or guitar. Their living room is filled with records courtesy of both of their extensive music tastes. They both stay in the master bedroom and, while its not shown in the photos above, they both have separate closets with Meena's being fairly extensive and the master bathroom is rather large with both of them having separate vanities (since they both have their own fair share of products). Their kitchen is also fully stocked with every spice in the book and there is a separate fridge just for blood bags.

Hello everybody. Welcome back to the podcast. Full disclosure, I came home last Sunday and before I even sat down, I put down my bags and my suitcase and I pulled out the microphone on my laptop and I said I'm gonna down and I'm going to record my Black Romance Book Fest thoughts. And I did my mic test and then I was just staring at the computer and I was like, girl, what are you doing? No, no, get up from here, have some food and sit your tail down. And that is what I did. I ordered some wings, I did a little unpacking. I was like, no, this is not happening. But I'm here.

In fact, some things I'm gonna shove to next week because I just have so much to talk about and there's nothing I hate more than editing an hour of me yapping. So let's kick it. Today is Sunday, June 8th. I am here on my bed in Atlanta with a mic, a drink and a whole lot of thoughts. So let's get into it. Let's have a.

A teeny beverage. All right, friends and lovers, booze and bros, books to people. We're back. Today's beverage is actually just coffee. It's still Sunday morning for me, just barely. And I decided I'm gonna get up, I'm gonna do my little book thing that I do on Sunday mornings with my always fully booked planner. I love that Planner down. I need a smaller version that doesn' have like the, the weekly layout because I don't be using it.

I. I'm not into it that deep. But I do my monthly layout and I do like my monthly list of the books that I read and what format I read them in. Because every month Raymond does a live where he talks about the books that he read and then we all report on what we read. It's our nice little habit. Ritual. Anyway, what am I talking about? Coffee. It's not working.

I am having coffee with sugar free caramel syrup and half because I am recording this morning. Anyway, I said I was gonna get up and do my book thing and then I'm gonna record this morning because I have writing to do and I have like a. Just a couple things I wanna get to this afternoon before we jump back into the work week. So I'm recording early on a Sunday. Yay. Let's begin with the book report because if I'm gonna do anything, I'm gonna. What? Read a book. I am at 80 of 175 books of my challenge to read 175 books this year.

I'm 46% toward my goal and I'm five books ahead of schedule. So you know your girl ain't worrying about much of nothing. I know I have been spotty on podcasts lately. So I'll go through what I read for May and then what I have read for June and what I am currently reading and what I've got in the hopper because the hopper is actually looking a little scary to me for a person that doesn't have a tbr. I have a lot of books in the hopper, So I read 12 books in May. Fuck with your boy. Nicole Falls. People of Means by Nancy Johnson.

Like honestly, I mean really outside of Can't Get Enough and like a couple of other books I've read earlier this year, King of Ashes was simply the best. It comes out Tuesday. I can't wait for you guys to read it. Also coming out Tuesday is my girl Danielle Allen's Plus Size Player. And that book I can't Stop Talking about it.

Fantastic Sinful Chains by Shea Sanders and Sinful Restraint by Sherrell Green. There's a third book. I don't remember the title, but it's sinful something. It's a trilogy. It's a dark romance trilogy by Shay Cherelle and Stephanie Nicole Norris. I don't know why they have me reading these books because I am chaste and innocent. But also I haven't been really enjoying them. They're really good.

So I'm about to get into Stephanie's book today or tomorrow hopefully so I can put a bow on that little series right there. But that's been some good reading. That's been, that's been some good reading if you're into that. You know what I'm saying? They're not vanilla. They're not vanilla. And I am not a White shoes person. I don't really be liking Paulie like that. So that's how you know them.

Books is good. Anyway. Currently reading, of course, Still August Lane by Regina Black. It's a small town romance about black women's voices and country music. It's very Beyonce meets. The literary world I've heard is very good, but I do not have an audio version of it and I can't get my machine to do the text to speech thing. And I really do better with thinking, not thinking, hearing versus looking. So I still got it on my list.

I'm still making progress. It's just when all I can do is read, my mind starts to drift. What really keeps me centered in it is being able to hear it. So I got to find a way to read it aloud. I can get like my phone to do the accessibility thing and so I might, I might, I might resort to that. Anyway, I've heard it's good. I do want to hear the audio though, so I may like just kind of slow roll it and snag the audio on release day so that I am ready to post a review. And then of course, Sinful Submission by Stephanie Nicole Norris.

This is the continuing the Dark Wide Shoes trilogy. So what's on deck? It's time for some read or release action. Trademark Bridget Bianca. I got a pile of books that I need to read or get gone. They're just like sitting in my Kindle and I'm like, oh, I'm gonna read that. Oh, I'm gonna read that. I'm very much a mood reader and I was in the mood to read them. I've got just a bunch of stuff.

Sounds like Trouble, which is an arc I have. That is Pamela Sanders. No, Pamela. I don't know. I didn't write down the titles to these books, but I got a bunch. I've got a bunch of books that I need to get read. I didn't even count them. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 books.

I don't know if I'm going to read them or if I am going to chuck them. There's a bunch that are Kindle Unlimited and at least one where I have the audio. So that should be like an easy yes for me. Let's see what I have here. Sounds like Trouble, which is the Pamela Samuels young Dwayne Alexander duo. This is the follow up to Sounds like a Plan from last year that was so much fun. I really, really enjoyed it. So looking forward to that.

I have a new Charlie Donnelly book which which I really enjoyed called Guess Again. Not really enjoyed. I really enjoy Charlie Donnelly. I've read all of his books and he has a new thriller coming out called Guess Again. I don't know. When it comes out, I have an arc. Most of these are arcs. Icing on the murder by Valerie Burns.

Something called in the Dark. I can't see the Chris Patchel maybe. Yes, Chris Patchel who I found this year and really enjoy. And now I close my page. Good Gracious High Season by Kate Bishop. I don't. I don't know. A lot of these are.

I might dig into that. A book called Sweet Like Honey. I think this is Jackie Lau who I enjoy. The Divorce Taunt by Mia Henselman. A really funny story I have from Black Romance Book Fest is Saturday morning. I'm just chilling in the cafe at the hotel. Kind of the calm before the storm. It's like 8:15am I'm signing at 9, but we can't get into the room until like 8:30, 8:45.

So I'm just chilling. Karen, the reader came with me to help me with my table and she's getting coffee. I'm just sitting there kind of like disassociating. And the door opens. The lobby door opens and this woman rushes in and she's got suitcases and boxes, et cetera. And she looks over and across the lobby yells, is that TL White? Oh, my God. Hi, it's Mia. This woman has endless, boundless energy.

It's 8:15am on a Saturday now. I'm like, hey, I've never met her in person before, but she is uber social, very friendly. She just comes right over. Can I leave my stuff here? I'm gonna go get coffee and I need water and where do we sign in? And blah, blah, blah. Like just a mil a minute. Go, go, go. I mean, what like a warm, warm person. If you've ever met Mia, you know what I'm talking about.

Just a warm personality. I adored her. She was signing. I signed 9 to 11. I think she was 11 to 1. And so I popped into the room while she was signing. It was an absolute madhouse because Jaquel's table was behind her and it was hot in there. And Tasha was.

Tasha L. Harrison was there to help Mia. And she's like, it's so hot in here. I just need some water. I'm like, I'll bet. I'll be right back. That's. Here's what I can do.

Not surprisingly good. It's actually. It's pretty good. Especially the recent episode with Zach and Tori Roloff from. I forgot the name of their show, but it was about this family of little people, the Roloffs. I can't. I can never remember anything right off the cuff anymore. I have to look everything up.

My brain is Swiss cheese lately. This is 51. Anyway, their podcast is really good. They have had a few of the Duggar siblings on. They've had a lot of people on talking about leaving cults and overcoming being a part of a strict religious order. So I really enjoy their podcast. I think it's good. And then there's another podcast called Unplanned.

Unplanned. Something might just be called Unplanned. I don't know. They've had a lot of the Duggars on as well. And like a lot of other people on. And then there's a couple other podcasts I've been watching. Of course, I can't remember the name of it, so I'm gonna have to look it up. And I didn't write it down because it's just coming to mind.

I thought I looked through my history before I did this, but apparently I didn't. I see lots of good things, and then I just add it to my Watch later tab. And that tab is getting scary. I don't know what it's called, but it's a. It's a podcast about people who have, like, overcome drug addiction. It's a lot like Locked up with Ian Bick, but it's not really about going to prison. It's more about, like, people who've been caught up in, like, opioid addiction, drug addiction. You know, you've lived a difficult life and you've overcome.

It's hosted by a previous addiction. I can't find it. I will find it the second I am not concentrating on it. Then, of course, the reliving single podcast, really Enjoying that is hosted by Erica Alexander and Kim something. My goodness, Kim Coles. Hi. So that's really good. House guest with Scott Evans, of course, watching that.

His Keke Palmer interview was solid. Quite good. Quite good. And then Romance Unleashed has a video podcast. And I have twice watched this episode with the creator of the Bad Bitch Book club. Really, really good knowledge, especially if you are looking at creating your own book club. And then, of course, I am catching up with reading, writing and Rain with Rain Coleman. His debut, Loving Ashley drops Friday, June 13th.
DL White [00:16:34]:
I'm so excited about this, about him. This is his debut. I Believe. And he is chronicling literally every second of writing and editing and printing and publishing his debut novel, Loving Ashley. It's so good to have this. And I wish for a lot of debut authors that they would have the sense of self enough to do something like that, to chronicle it somehow. Because a year from now, two years from now, 10 years from now, you might not remember what you went through to get here, what you had to go through to bring your book to the front stage and then continue to chronicle and really continue to commemorate and memorialize the things that you're doing to keep your book in the forefront, the things you're doing to make improvements to your author business, the things that you have learned because people are watching. Even like, you know, older authors like me, I've been out here 10 years and like there might be things that you are discovering that I don't know because I'm not paying attention.
DL White [00:17:48]:
Like I don't publish books through KDP print anymore. I only do ebook there. I do all my, all my print books through Draft 2 Digital. So there are things in that process that I might not be aware of, things that might change, things that are different that I might not be aware of. And if I'm giving advice to people based off of thing, I don't know what I'm talking about, it could be wrong. So I'm going to say, hey, I want you to go dig into rain Coleman's YouTube channel because he just went through this and he could probably explain it to you better than I can. So continue to document, continue to talk about it. Don't worry about what you look like.
DL White [00:18:26]:
Coming from somebody who don't ever put her face on the Internet because I'm always worried about what I look like. But like, at least blog it, you know, continue to document what you're going through as a first time author, putting out your sophomore book after your indie book after your debut has hit. Because the second one is like usually way different than the first. So those are good. And then I saw that Straw has launched on Netflix. I think this is a Tyler Perry joint. I don't know, we'll see. But it's on my list.

The Tylenol Murders documentary dropped. It's surprisingly boring. Like maybe I was just distracted, but I was not interested in it at all. I like daydreamed and played a game all the way through it. Like I would look up something on YouTube and I would watch that. But the Tylenol Murders doc on Netflix was like, I won't say it was trash but it wasn't. It wasn't good to me. And then I'm still behind on Will Trent.
DL White [00:19:26]:
I don't know why, but I just don't feel like watching it. I will eventually. I do need to catch up on Poker Face. Just not feeling either of those lately. But I will get into them. I just need a week where like, I just need like, like a good six to 12 months of time to just read books and watch TV. That's all I need while still making a full time paycheck anyway. So I, I want to check out the Paul Rubens documentary on Max.

I haven't got to that, but I heard it was good. And then I just, I mean my Just Watch app is trash. So I gotta go through all that catch up with all the stuff I'm supposed to be watching and haven't all the stuff I have watched and haven't reported on just so like get that up to date so it can start alerting me in real time of things I need to be watching. So moving on to the writing and publishing update, I finally have a current project. I'm so proud of me, girl. I'm so proud of me. It is let's write a book time. Sort of.
DL White [00:20:31]:
So Missing Persons is my next project, which I have talked about this before. It was a thing. I wanted to be out in the summer. It's probably going to be late summer, like August, September. Ish. Hopefully before like fall officially. And I feel like I've been writing this book for eight years because I have. It's been like very piecemeal since I released Dinner at Sam's and the original story just wasn't suspenseful enough.
DL White [00:21:00]:
I wanted it to be a romantic suspense, but my plot just was not suspenseful. So I have been kind of piecemealing it over the past few years and I had to read more thrillers and more mysteries and let it marinate. And now what I have is, I feel is a strong romantic mystery with thriller elements. It's not really a thrilling suspenseful novel and it's got way more romance than anything else in it. But I'm excited to have it. So I have a complex external plot wrapped around a slow burn, longing friends to lovers, romance between Wesley Payne and Yvette Young. And yes, you recognize Yvette from a previous novel. She's the PI from Dinner at Sam's.

So if you want to meet Yvette early or you need a refresher, go grab that book. She is a brief blip in the book like if you blink, you'll miss her. But she is in that book. Gibson Kincaid in Dinner at Sam's uses Yvette to track Vanessa's ex husband and figure out where he's living so she can serve him with divorce. And so the blurb is in progress, but here is what I have so far. Atlanta attorney Wesley Payne takes on a case that's messier than it looks. His client, Angelica Foster, insists her husband Edward isn't dead, even after three years missing and pressure from his sister to declare him legally dead and collect his inheritance. Wesley hires private investigator Yvette Young, a former army detective with a sharp eye and a guarded heart.
DL White [00:22:33]:
What starts as a paper chase turns into a dangerous hunt involving fraud, cover ups, and a man determined to keep Edward's secrets buried. As the case heats up, so does the passion between Wesley and Yvette. They've worked together before, but this time it's personal. And neither is ready for what they'll uncover. Not just about the case, but about each other. So that's the bare bones, of course. I'll, I'll zhuzh it up a little bit more, but I just needed to get something on paper so I could tell y' all about it. So I'm writing, editing, revising, rewriting really.

I had a basic, basic draft that I finished late last year, like earlier this year, but I could not possibly publish it. It was very bare bones, draft zero. So now I'm going through to add voice, passion, detail. I'm quite happy with where I am right now, but I know it is not done. Just know there's more kissing than danger in this book. You know, I'm not a thriller writer. I've been dabbling just enough to get this book palatable to romantic suspense readers. So it's heavy on the rom, light on the suspense, heavy on the rom, light on the mystery, but we gonna make it.
DL White [00:23:46]:
So I'm going chapter by chapter, mostly to ground the reader in location. This is another Atlanta heavy book and I want people to recognize places, neighborhoods, freeways, thoroughfares. I just wanna be very specific when into this novel because I think a thing that people enjoy when they read my books is recognizing names of places. And one thing that Karen, the reader, she's my most ardent, dedicated reader, she tells me all the time, Atlanta people read your books and they recognize the places, so you can't be making things up because they're going to look it up and they're going to realize it doesn't exist and they're going to Be ticked off. So use real names, use real streets, use real places, because your Atlanta readers like that little Easter egg. So. So I'm trying real hard to place Wesley's business and his home, Yvette's business and her home, and the places that they go, the mystery takes them out of town, and so I'm less so concentrated about that area, but still trying to be realistic. They stay at a real hotel, they eat at a real restaurant, et cetera.

So I also, like. I want. I want people to recognize places. I want each chapter to be cinematic and. Which means, like, they see it playing out in their head are the. All the sensory details there. It means extreme attention to detail and making sure each action, each sentence of dialogue, each piece of exposition between your dialogue and your action, make sure it's vivid. Do you see it playing out in your mind? Do you hear the door opening? Do you sense the footsteps coming down the hall? Can you picture the belt line as Wesley is staring out of his office? Like, that's, like, the level of detail I want to bring to the book.

And that's hard work. That's. It's not just. It's not just crapping out a book and publishing it like, here. Like a here damn book. It's hard work for me. So it's going to take a few turns of revision before it's even remotely ready for betas and especially for my editor. And I hope she listens to this podcast because I want her to know the widths and lengths that I have gone to to make this book good.

I'm not gonna give her swinging from the chandeliers as she demanded that I give her after I made her edit brunch at Ruby's. And there was so much infidelity in that book, but we gonna make it. You're getting some juiciness, I think, in here. And, like, I always think my books are, like, sexy. They're like. I think they're steamy, but, like, sometimes I'll be reading stuff out here, and I'm like, I am like Disney compared to y' all. Y' all are filthy. My goodness.

So I don't think this book is going to be filthy, but I'm working hard to like, make the romance scenes romance. Y. And for my slow burn haters, like, I gotta build. I gotta. I gotta build. There's a reason it's been. There's a reason it's gonna be a minute until they get together, but there is some getting together. It's a romance by D.L.

white. There's some getting together, you know what I'm saying? So I got time. I'm an indie author. I do things the way I want to do them in the time it takes to get it done. You know what I'm saying? It's done when it's done, not a second earlier. When this is done, I'm gonna get to work on Potter Lake 4, which is titled Still I Rise. I'm also very excited about that one. That one isn't even at draft zero.

I have not even done with it yet. I'm on like chapter 10. I hit a wall. I think I was working on two things at once and I was like, something's gotta give and I'm putting down. Still I Rise for right now. I've been trying to write Still I Rise for a couple of years. So, you know, as usual, I need to work on that. I want it to be out this fall.

It might be late date, late fall, like early winter. Then I think I probably won't do a hol short. But also in the parentheses, these are things I say. But then I'll feel fomo because everyone is releasing their cute little holiday books and I will feel left out. I'll think on it. But like, that's what happened last year with Festival. Fan fiction wise. Music of My Heart is updated. This one picks up right after Zoe learns that one of her EP songs leaked and she rightly freaks out. She's raw, she's rattled, she is not ready. But her real, the real version of her song is dropping to kind of combat the leaks and ain't nobody got time for a breakdown. So I gave like a fictional behind the scenes my interpretation of what it feels like to go public with something very personal. She records a really quick, imperfect, perfect video posted up on TikTok and then she sits next to her man waiting for the public to react. I have too much fun, too much fun writing comments for her both in person and online.

Because I have seen the wide variety of fandom in person and in person and online. I wanted to visualize what it's like to be on the other side of that. JC is nearby, being very supportive without being overbearing. In my mind. This is why I write JC Chaseze fanfic because everybody writes him as like a, like a, a morose, very serious, driven person. Which, which isn't false. He is a very dedicated. He's very much into craft.

He is a very quiet, introverted individual. But also like once you get to know him, I feel like he is a very lovable sarcastic and he loves being that way. A super nice guy. Like you'll never meet anybody more loving and supportive, but also very much a smart ass who also does not understand jokes. In this chapter I make the 30 minutes. Did you know you have 30 minutes joke? And he doesn't get it. And you know Zoe is like 15 years younger than him and he doesn't understand. He doesn't understand, understand.

This is very peak jc. He does not. He gets the jokes last and you have to explain that to him. But I think it's really funny. It's very JC and I like to get my characterization just right. So I had fun with this one. So as the numbers on her music and her page start to climb, so does Zoe's anxiety. So this chapter, to me, wasn't about perfection.

Her first song is dropping because someone leaked it, not because she was ready. There's no label telling her where to be, how to do things, pushing things along, rolling things out the way they want to see them. It's just Joey. It's just Zoe, jc, her manager and her new publicist against the world. And like, sometimes it's not a big old sparkly fantasy ball. Sometimes things like don't roll out the way you want them to roll out. And that is what Zoe is dealing with right now. So I am writing slash, revising missing persons right now, which means I'm heavy into that.

So chapters on the fanfic might be chaotically updated or delayed, but I mean, or they might be run on time. I don't know. I don't plan these things. I just feel like writing and I, like, sit down and bang out a chapter and like, let it sit and then I go back and revise it and then I post it. It's a very low stakes, like, you'll see a lot. You'll see a lot of, like, weird things that. I mean, it's very low stakes writing right here. I just be writing.

I write to be writing. You know, I like having something to disappear into when I'm tired of whatever I am working on. And fan fiction always takes. Fanfiction always does it for me. So let's move on to our main topic this week, which is, of course, Black Romance Book Fest. Are you guys tired of hearing about Black Romance Book Fest yet? I hope not, because I'm about to talk about Black Romance Book Fest, but I'm gonna talk about it from the perspective of an author. From pre orders to table sales. I wanna talk about being an author at a big event.
DL White [00:33:50]:
Like, this is the biggest event I have ever been a part of. And it was truly, truly wonderful. All of the pictures and recaps that you're seeing, those are all realistic. There was zero drama. There's a little bit of drama at the end because there was a couple of white readers that attended. As far as I saw, they were buying books, they bought merch, they were decked out with their. Their big old carts and whatever. One of them bought books at my table.

She actually pre ordered books at my table. We had a long conversation. She listens to the podcast. Hey there. She brought me a gift. She reads the substack. She listens to my Audiobooks. She is like, anyway, there was a white author that won one of the raffles at the very, very, very, very end.
DL White [00:34:40]:
Like I didn't, I wasn't at the raffle because once I finished my signing at 4, I packed up to get my friend to the airport. It was like, so, so at the end of the festival that I was not there for the raffle. Anyway, some of the readers felt like the white reader should have given the basket that she won back so that a black reader could have, could win it. But also the organizers weren't telling her to give it back. So like, those are your personal thoughts. I'm the wrong person to talk to about that because those readers paid to be in that room just like anybody else. They read the books, they visited tables, they were there both days. They were enthusiastic, they were giving out hugs, they were high fiving folks.
DL White [00:35:28]:
They watched the videos, they read the books, they write reviews. Like books is books, is books is books, readers are readers. And quite honestly, a thing I talked about with one of my friends was like, sometimes once you start reading black fiction, you cannot go back to that other stuff, especially black romance, especially indie black romance. It's just different. And I think about this all the time. It's just, it's, it's full, it's realistic, it is what that author wanted on the page, the way that author wanted it on the page. We are not pandering to people who are not going to read these books anyway. We're not pandering to anybody in these books.
DL White [00:36:15]:
We are writing it what we want to write, the way we want to write it, the way we want you to read it. And once you are exposed to that, it's real hard to go back to like the bland, formulaic type stuff. So anyway, it was a fabulous, fabulous weekend. But I want to talk about this process from the perspective of being an author because I don't see a whole lot of that. The whole process from pre orders to fulfillment to handing those bags to the readers at the table. And I want to talk money because transparency matters and because I know there are authors that are hoping to be in the building next year. And if you've never done a book event, here's how it go. Now I know they're going to start announcing authors in July and the second, the second you find out that you are going to be in that room, I want you to start getting ready.

Are you going to have a new book out? What books do you want to start promoting right now? What books do you Want to start looking at for editing? Do you want to change any covers? What bundles are you going to have together? Like start thinking about that now because Once we hit January 2026, it's going to be prime time. It's going to be like time to buckle down and get your things together. The time is going to pass faster than you think it will. Time from May 2024 to walking up to that hotel in May 2025 was like a snap. Like I really. It went fast. It went real fast. So, so here's how it go to know how many books I had to have at my table, I guess and it really started with the pre orders.
DL White [00:37:56]:
I waited until the pre orders closed and I did my pre orders through the eventi form which was super easy. You load up your, you know, all your books and your blurbs and your tropes and whatnot, you set your prices, you put your together your bundles, boom, Bob's your uncle. You have a nice pre order form. People can. You can enable PayPal and what's the other one stripe they pay. You can have them pay ahead of time or you can have them pay at your table. It just will load up everything for you to tell you how many books you have to fulfill, what books, how many of each book, who prepaid, who's gonna. And then you can start checking them off as you fulfill them and you can check them off as they pick them up.
DL White [00:38:41]:
I didn't do any of that. I did all of that like post festival. But I did use that form to note what books I needed to order and who needed to pick up what, how to pack my pre orders and have those ready for people to pick up. So I wait until pre orders close to know how many books I was committed to bringing. And if I had to order books based off of what I had in stock, I would know how many I needed to order to fulfill my pre orders and then how many I would need to order to have 5 to 10 copies to have on hand to sell. So now let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. And this isn't imposter syndrome.
DL White [00:39:21]:
This is reality. Being at a big book event with big authors can be nerve wracking. There is a reason I don't travel for book events. I am my publisher. So I have to purchase and ship my books wherever I'm going. And that means money out of my pocket. And I know y' all see how much I'd be making monthly. Like if I make $100 a month, that's a good month.
DL White [00:39:45]:
Month. And out of that comes any, any subscriptions that I pay for to be an author. Like prowritingaid, like book funnel, like Buzzsprout. Well, Buzzsprout kind of pays for itself but you know, like this is it. It costs money to be an author. They say it's quote unquote free, but there are things I subscribe to to make my life easier as an author and I am pretty much subsidizing my author business with my full time paycheck. So I'm going in the red to print books. I think I spent almost 500 bucks on books.
DL White [00:40:30]:
3 to 500. I can't remember how much I would, I would have to look it up. But I spent a pretty penny, pretty penny on books to ship. Of course I buy books at author prices and then my retail is maybe two to three times that. So hopefully there's a big delta between what it costs me to print and ship a book and what I sell it for. If I sell out of books, I'm probably breaking even on the flight, hotel, printing, shipping. So the benefit there, when you're meeting readers in person, you're doing book events unless you just keep them books in stock, is getting signups on my newsletter list, possibly getting digital orders and meeting readers in person. There's nothing like meeting your readers in person and signing books.
DL White [00:41:15]:
So if it's local, I will try to get on that author list. Like I'm doing indie love later this year. If it's local, I'm gonna try to be on that list. I do not travel for book events except for special occasions. Like I'll always travel to resist booksellers. And also he buys my books off of Ingram so I don't have to bring books. So all the profit goes to him. I will have made money off of the sale of books when he bought them from Ingram.
DL White [00:41:46]:
So being at a book event where readers are content to stand in a four hour line to get their fave to sign a book and take a photo means that there are people who aren't going to look around. They're not here for me. They're here for so and so and they might glance at my table as they walk past and I hope the nevertheless catches their eye when they walk walk past. Like there might be a few people that are there for me but for the most part people are there for big author A, big author B, big author C, big author D. And I know like there was a person that was concerned that her table was right next to Kennedy Ryan's because you know her line is going to be out of control and you're just going to get swallowed up. Like there was a couple of authors that were between big authors at Black Romance Book Fest and they kind of got swallowed up and I don't know if they made any sales at all because you couldn't see their table between the people trying to line up for this author and that author on at the Saturday midday signing, the 11 to 1 signing they had at the same time. Kennedy Ryan, Tia Williams, Danielle Allen, Jaquel and Ms. Bev, Beverly Jenkins at the same time.
DL White [00:43:03]:
And then those, they were kind of around the perimeter and then in the middle of a room were, you know, other like, you know, mid list smaller indie authors. But you couldn't even get in that room at one point because Ms. Bev's line was kind of blocking one entrance. And then people were lined up down the hall and around the corner for Kennedy Ryan. Danielle Allen had her own line and then there was a line out front for Tia Williams. And then Jaquel's line I don't think ever got short. Like people were standing in that line literally for hours. For Jaquel, she signed 9am to 1pm both days.
DL White [00:43:46]:
Kennedy signed 9am to one p.m. both days. I think Ms. Bev only had one signing, 9 to 11am or 11 to 1pm on Saturday. And then I think Tia Williams signed both days. It was just a lot. And that room looks big until you get, get 500 people in there. And so add to that, you know, everybody.
DL White [00:44:12]:
I don't think the planning team was ready for everybody to have those big rolling carts, big bags. Every author, not every author, but a lot of author had those stand up banners, those, unless they're right behind you, right behind your table. They take up so much space and people can't get past. It was a madhouse. I mean it was a blessed, happy madhouse. It was loud in there, it was warm in there. People were just happy to get in there and get in line and talk about books. It was exciting.
DL White [00:44:45]:
But also it was a madhouse. So like I showed up on Saturday morning and I didn't have a table and so they had forgot to set my table. And I was so frustrated. I was so. That was like one of the only snafus of the weekend. I didn't have like table and so they had to come real super quick, give me a table. I had to set up my books with like two and a half minutes to the doors open. Karen and I were like Rushing around and then people like started showing up.
DL White [00:45:19]:
So anyway, it can be nerve wracking to try to be pushing books at the same time as quote unquote big authors. And so that's why I kind of guessed at how many books to have at my table. I did want to have like 5 to 10 on hand and if I sell, I sell out. I would rather sell out than have 20 books I have to lug back home. So like I suppose it could be lucrative to do in person sales if I could keep up on the inventory and also be local. But like I have FOMO real bad when it comes to a book event. So I want to be on site so I don't miss things. I remember the first event I attended was Girl have youe Red in Houston and watching everybody go hang out together because they were all staying at the same hotel while I went back to my room to to like, you know, eat shrimp and watch Discovery TV was not it.
DL White [00:46:11]:
I felt really left out. So anyway, yes, I'm staying on site for Indie Love. Yes, I stayed on site for Black Romance Book Fest because I live 45 minutes away from the JW and I was not driving back and forth every day. Let's talk numbers though. Black Romance Book Fest pre orders I had 12 books ordered and that came to 215 31. And then at the festival over the two days I sold 35 books and I made $520. The 9am to 10am hour on day one was my strongest sales period with all of my five top titles were selling during that window. The 2pm period 2 to 4pm signing slowed considerably, had much lower activity.
DL White [00:47:02]:
Only two titles really. Sol Brunette, Ruby's and Neverless. But I know I sold one set of the Black diamond books to Bridget Bianca and it's just not, it's not showing up in my numbers here. But anyway. I will say though that Black Romance Book Fest has brought me my biggest sales ever. That's about $700 in sales compared to, I don't know, I would have to look it up but I think I spent about, about about $400 on books. So I didn't quite break even because then I had you know, the two days of hotel on site that I needed to pay for. But like it's pretty dang close sort of because I did have some books on hand.
DL White [00:47:51]:
I just ordered more to make sure I could fulfill my pre orders and then I ordered more to have a like you know, five to seven on hand to spend sell. So going into Indie love. I've got five pre orders. A 153, 24 in earnings from those pre orders so I can fulfill my pre orders. I have already placed an order for books to fulfill my pre orders and to have some leftover. I might look at ordering more books because my signing time is going to be longer. 11:00am to 4:00pm I don't know, we'll see. If I order too many books, I'll do a paperback sale to get rid of them because I do not have room to store them on.

My books are currently in the trunk of my car. So over the two days my top sellers at Black Romance Book Festival were Brunchet Ruiz hardcover. I sold four of those. The Never List, I sold five of those. Hey Lover, I sold five of those. And then the Black Diamond Bay series dominated with 16 total units sold. People were really into the Black Diamond Bay, but Black Black Romance Book Fest was a top tier event. Top tier.
DL White [00:48:59]:
I'm really excited to see how they do next year in a bigger venue. We're at the Omni next year. I honestly hope they don't get too big. I wouldn't want it to get huge and impersonal and corporate. The little touches that I'm sure you've seen from everyone's recap videos and video photos were real. So, so nice. As an author, I felt seen. I felt celebrated in a way we aren't often seen and celebrated.

I also really find it heartwarming how popular book influencers and authors really become rock stars. Like to see Ms. Bev come down the hall and people cheer for her. Like Jucwell came down the hall and it was like, it was like she was Prince. Like she almost had to have security to see like Kennedy Ryan or Tia Williams walking around like, those are big famous New York Times best selling authors in the room. Vanessa Riley is just the most personable New York Times bestselling author you have ever met. Everyone was like just so friendly and personable. It was like a big family reunion.
DL White [00:50:02]:
Just meeting so many people you haven't met in person. Authors become rock stars at these kinds of events and it's really ego boosting to me to have several people come to my table and be like, I loved Never List. I love this cover. It's so pretty. Or Rubies or Hey Lover. Several bought the print edition of Calculated Risk, which isn't even widely available. It's only available through the Prolific Works giveaway. And also, what is that black? I forget.
DL White [00:50:34]:
But it's a black imprint that distributes through Kensington. They came to my table and they bought a copy of Neverlist. Don't know if they'll read it, but they did come by one of my books. I can't remember the name of it because I have to look up everything. Anyway, that is my brief recap of Black Romance Book Fest from the author's side. I said it wasn't new and play by play, I don't think I did. But suffice it to say, had a really, really wonderful time. Minimal snafus, hardly any drama.

Everyone was so wonderful in person. I have never been prouder to be a black indie romance author. That's enough talking for me. I think I'm done talking. Westchester Soccer Club Hosts Richmond Kickers FC at The Stadium at Memorial Field in Mount Vernon Sunday

Westchester SC returns to USL League One play this Sunday with their third of six home matches in May and June, taking on Richmond Kickers  at 4 pm at The Stadium at Memorial Field. The club is coming off a dramatic 1-1 draw vs. Forward Madison last Saturday.  Media are welcomed at any and all WSC home matches.
 J.C. Obregón (New York, NY) electrified the home crowd with a stunning long-range goal in the 17th minute,  launching a strike from  ~70 yards out, before Derek Gebhard converted a penalty  in the 4Oth minute, the only scores in a 1-1 draw against Forward Madison FC. The second half continued with the same pace and pressure, and in the 67th minute, Forward Madison was awarded a second penalty. This time, however, Westchester goalkeeper Andrew Hammersley, in only his second pro start, rose to the occasion, making a critical save to deny the go-ahead goal and preserve the 1-1 draw through the final whistle. It marked WSC’s first home point in USL League One play. 
Richmond, WSC Meet Again Following One of The USL League One Early Season Highlight Matches;   Richmond’s Josh Kirkland scored the final equalizer (and his second goal of the game) in the ninth minute of extra time on  April19th, snatching a frenetic late rush victory from WSC and sending both clubs home with a 4-4 draw for third place Richmond. The Erickland score came just two minutes after WSC’s scoring leader J.C. Obregón Jr. (New York, NY) found  the back of the net on a penalty kick after Bobby Pierre was fouled, to give Westchester their first lead of the match seven minutes into extra time in what was a back and forth affair for more than ninety minutes.  Richmond struck early, with  Darwin Espinal  beating keeper Dane Jacomen  just two minutes into the match before WSC counter on a Noah Powder (Edison, NJ) score just six minutes later.  Espinal’s second goal of the match in the 32nd minute gave Richmond the 2-1 lead at the break, before Samory Powder (Edison, NJ) again knotted the match at 2-2 in the 53rd minute. Richmond’s Kirkland’s tally in the 63rd minute again put Kickers back on top, but with less than seven minutes left in regulation Conor McGlynn (Middle Village, NY) countered off a pass from Noah Powder to knot the score at three, and set the stage for the drama in extra time. The stats belied the excitement the fans experienced on a beautiful night in Richmond, with each side taking 16 shots and WSC getting the slight edge on goal 8-7.
Putting Up The Numbers; Richmond and WSC enter Sunday’s match second-16 goals and third-15 goals, respectively in USL League One Play thus far this season.
Stopping the Slide: WSC enters Sunday looking to stop a seven match overall winless slide. They have not posted a match win since their victory over NY Pancyprian Freedoms 3-2 on April 2 in the US Open Cup, and have not won a USL League One match since their 3-1 win at Texoma FC on March 29. WSC has actually grabbed the lead in the first half of their last three matches, leading 1-0 at Spokane,   2-0 at home against Charlotte and 1-0 vs. Forward Madison.    
If it’s a WSC Match, JC is on the Board: Forward Juan Carlos Obregón, Jr. has been the scoring leader for WSC, not just in their USL matches but in their US Open Cup matches as well. Obregon’s seven overall goals easily tops the team in all games played. The 2024 USL League One All-League First Team forward scored his seventh  goal last  Saturday,  and he now has four   USL League One tallies one more than teammate Connor McGlynn.  Obregón leads the club in assists with two as well.
Hammer Time Arrives; Goalkeeper Andrew Hammersley (Garden City, NY) was inserted into the lineup by Head Coach Dave Carton prior to the May tenth match vs. Charlotte, and played well in his first pro match despite allowing three second half scores. The Sacred Heart University product followed that up with a solid performance again last Saturday, allowing the one score, but coming up with a game-saving second half stop of a penalty kick to keep the tight match tied. Hammersley has recorded ten saves in his first two matches, the best two match stretch for a keeper in WSC’s inaugural season.   He was selected to the USL League One Team of the Week for his efforts.
Homegrown Scorers: In USL play, New York area natives Obregón (New York, NY) McGlynn (Middle Village, NY) , Samory Powder and Noah Powder (Edison, NJ) have accounted for ten of the club’s 12 goals thus far, giving the back of the net a decided NY area edge so far.  WSC’s current roster features eight players who can call the greater New York area home. In addition, defender Kemar “Taxi” Lawrence has logged time in his career as a popular member of the New York Red Bulls. Defender Noah Powder and his brother Samory Powder have also logged time in the Red Bulls development system.
Brotherly Success, The Powder’s Pour it On: The Powder brothers, Samory and Noah (Edison, NJ), are just the fifth pair of brothers to suit up as teammates in a League One match, and the first pair of brothers to be named to the USL League One Team of the Week as teammates in the same week. Midfielder Noah Powder was named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with three goal contributions in a 4-4 draw against the Richmond Kickers on April 19 . Noah Powder's assist on Samory Powder's goal in the 53rd minute marked the second time in league history a pair of brothers have connected for a joint goal participation (Arturo/David Rodriguez (NTX), 2019). Then we have Samory Powder, the first-year professional registered a beauty of a first professional goal off an assist from his older brother, Noah at Richmond, and followed that up with his second goal, the club’s only tally, at Spokane.
Obregón,  Powder Get Gold Cup Call; Twenty-three players from the USL Championship and League One were named on Monday to the preliminary rosters for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup.  Included among the group are WSC’S Juan Carlos Obregón, Jr., for Honduras and Noah Powder for Trinidad and Tobago. The final rosters for the tournament must be named by June 4 ahead of the competition’s opening game on Saturday, June 14 between Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Portland was the only other USL League One club with multiple players named.  
On The Team Side: WSC enters the weekend 4th in scoring in USL League One with  12 goals, tied for 4th  in conversion rate (1 8  %) and 5th in shots at 88.

Up Next: WSC will host their second Jägermeister Cup match, this one against Hartford Athletic on May 31 at 4 pm, before returning to USL League One play on June 7 against One Knoxville SC in their first home regular season night match of the season.

Si vous n’êtes pas de Montpellier, il y a peu de chance que vous connaissiez le nom de François Fontès. Pourtant, il est architecte, promoteur, propriétaire de Sauramps, une des plus importantes librairies indépendantes de France, dirigeant de groupe de presse incluant notamment Architecture d’aujourd’hui, et producteur de cinéma (et de l’excellent film «I feel good » du duo Kervern Delépine), et aujourd’hui à la tête d’un véritable petit empire, le groupe Montpelliérain Hugar. Disons-le franchement : François Fontès, est l’architecte qui a le mieux réussi de France, une véritable gloire locale, qu'on peut situer aujourd’hui sur la carte postale Montpelliéraine quelque part entre la Place de la Comédie, Antigone et les Flamands Roses.
Mais l’excellent homme d’affaires cache difficilement un architecte assez médiocre. À l’image du bourgeois gentilhomme de Molière qui se rêvait noble, notre Mamamouchi local se rêve en architecte-star, et il a réussi le tour de force de s’offrir en 2014, les ateliers Jean Nouvel. Et si pour tout le reste il y a EuroCard Mastercard, le talent du grand chauve en complet noir ne semble pas avoir migré de manière transcendantale dans notre architecte local. Malheureusement pour l’architecture Montpelliéraine, personne dans le coin, vu la circonférence de l’assiette financière du bonhomme, n’a la possibilité, ou le courage, de le lui dire franchement.
Pourtant il y a des signes qui ne trompent pas : il ne construit que localement, dans la métropole ou le département. Apparemment peu de concours gagnés hors de son rayon d'influence : François Fontès c’est un peu l’architecte que le monde ne nous envie pas. Les publications de ses constructions dans les revues professionnelles sont quasi inexistantes, et se résument souvent à des doubles pages d’autopromotion dans la presse quotidienne régionale, où il va défendre régulièrement son architecture d’auteur, un égotrip « apollinien et dionysiaque » à la sauce locale. Le bâtiment de la faculté de Médecine de Montpellier est un parfait exemple de sa production : une forêt sur le toit, une autre forêt de poteaux, et surtout l’improbable invention de l’« auvent troué ». Il fallait y penser. Le résultat est frappant : une architecture qui est une agglutination de tous les poncifs des années 2010, là où pour une des plus vieilles universités d’Europe, on aurait pu attendre un véritable monument, un bâtiment exemplaire. Non seulement ce n’est pas terrible, mais il semblerait que ce n’est même pas très bien fait : livrée en 2017, un contrat de réhabilitation de ce bâtiment vient tout juste d’être passé avec un autre architecte, pour quelques petits millions d’euros d’argent public.
Plus problématique, François Fontès est maintenant le chantre du greenwashing, à la source de tous ces éco-machins à double peau vitrée et plantations en toiture qui viennent dévaster nos yeux et l’environnement (https://www.tpbm-presse.com/la-mrae-s-inquiete-de-l-impact-environnemental-du-projet-de-quartier-d-istres-convergence-113041.html). Passons très rapidement sur la future tour Evanesens, une aberration écologique verticale qui reste une resucée un peu pataude de Bosco Verticale de Stefano Boeri et de One Central Park de Nouvel à Sidney dix ans après, et dont les images commencent à inonder tous les panneaux publicitaires JC Decaux de la ville. On pourrait aussi parler longuement de la nouvelle MBS, énorme bastringue sans queue ni tête, dont les façades vitrées sont doublées d’une improbable « dentelle de pierre » qui ferait s’évanouir n’importe quel bureau d’étude environnement raisonnable. Mais est-ce bien grave quand l’architecte s'appelle François Fontés et que la maitrise d’ouvrage est la Chambre de Commerce et de l’Industrie ?
Plus grave encore pour la ville de Montpellier, c’est quand notre homme, qui est aussi investisseur dans le nouveau stade de foot du MHSC, se déclare de fait comme l’architecte naturel de l’opération. C’est vrai qu’un stade dans une ville, dans une métropole de la taille de Montpellier, ça ne regarde personne, c’est une affaire privée. Alors, finis la vague des partenariats public privé, qui auront malgré tout leurs défauts, aboutis à la construction du magnifique Grand Stade de Bordeaux, par les architectes Herzog et de Meuron après une procédure de concours classique, voici à Montpellier une nouvelle spécialité : un stade majeur, donnée directement, en gré à gré, à l’architecte investisseur !
Habituellement l’architecture est d’intérêt public, mais il faut reconnaitre que parfois avec François Fontès, c’est quand même l’intérêt privé qui prime.

We'll give you so much background info on the characters (that's been developed throughout the years) that the original cast will be interested in a sequel because there's so much depth and detail, and you'll eventually have a solid premise.

She developed "The Letter Room" (in which Oscar starred) which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film (2021), a Palm Springs Intl Shortfest nomination for Best U.S. Short (2020), and a Tribeca Film Festival nom for Best Narrative Short (2020). It also won a whole bunch of awards (and got more noms) at other festivals, as did her documentary Bobbi Jene. She's been doing a lot of other work in film and photography too.
Is she an obvious choice, considering JC Chandor directed the original movie? No, but all the better. If she would take on a project like this (she and Oscar have their own media production company, Mad Gene), she would be very invested, plus she very much knows the cast - even beyond the main actors, who she's close to for obvious reasons, as she was there in Hawaii while the movie was shot (and shared tons of photos). Again; a great choice of (co)director if you want somebody who focuses on details and interpersonal relationships. Since Charlie Hunnam is signed on already as a potential producer in case TF2 would ever happen, you can link them up.

I'm so excited about this! During a TF search spiral (don't we all have those?) I actually hit gold when I stumbled across Greg Berry's website. He was the Production Designer of the movie and made a book as something for the crew to look back at - and as an intro to the film.
It's really worth a look, because it has gorgeous concept art, pictures of certain spaces (the bar, Lorea's house) before they shot and how they envision it to be. There's also an image for the storage container, but this seems to be considerably smaller and different than what they ended up using.

One thing i will beg to be changed in mdzs is Yanli marrying Jzx like ffs yanli no matter how much of a simp you are have some f#cking self respect. And that gold wearing dude, bro you insulted her in front of your peers but than fall in love over a bowl of lotus soup. What do yanli put in it? Ancient Chinese coke? And madam yu, like you forced your way into marrying jfm and ruined your his and your married life and you want yanli to receive the same?
Hahaha I think this is hilarious. V Unpopular opinion in this fandom I know, but I’m not about that YanLi soup life. I didn’t pay that much attention to her in the novel and I thought she was irritating af in cql 😬 esp with the way the show kept pushing the Yunmeng trio dynamic when all she wanted to do was fuck off and marry Zixuan which, understandable she was mediocre, he was hot and rich and I’d want to get away from jiang cheng too.
Other than that she only reinforced the messed up dynamic between jc & WWX from day one when she let WWX take the blame for jc after he hurt himself climbing a tree all the way into their teens. I’ve reread the wedding dress show off scene several times & I can’t take it any other way than as a demonstration of how WWX really didn’t fit in w the Jiangs anymore at all. It was like that last moment of forced joviality hanging out w a group of ppl you know you’ve grown apart from. She was out of touch af to go show off her wedding dress when WWX was low key starving w the Wens in the Burial Mounds and bring nothing w her. People act like she was powerless and living under a rock or jc could magically hide everything from her, but the entire cultivation world was gossiping about the Yiling Laozu, the defection and the duel. The Jins probably had golden toilets, she could’ve broken off a knob and brought it w her/Jk but please NO ONE WOULD HAVE NOTICED if she took them some money or gold or jewelry or forced her brother to do it if she actually, actively cared 🙄. Qiankun bags are a thing. You know what’s harder to transport A BOWL OF FUCKING SOUP. I still side eye soup irl at this point.
I just didn’t find her interesting and I didn’t find any of her choices productive. I deffs think it’s in large part bc of cql slapping her overlay all over the place, having WWX call her name instead of LWJ in the scene where jc is torturing him w a dog & bc Wei Wuxian always views her through rose tinted glasses that so many swoon over shijie. If I have to say something nice about her, I’ll say her character was meant to be mediocre and she excelled at that. ✌🏻🥲

NOTES: Really beautiful shot in an intimate space. Lots of zooms, but a good amount of wider shots too with a very limited (almost nonexistent) amount of heads. The lighting in this theater really liked my camera and I know the show almost “by heart” so I think I followed the action as well as possible. My battery died during the last song, but it starts at the very beginning with only one drop out during dialogue.

NOTES: Closing show! Or “rock concert” if you ask Christy Altomare. Yeah so this is a pretty obstructed video. Everyone was really excited so people were standing up, people were moving around, and honestly I had a little trouble paying attending to my viewfinder with all of the tears streaming down my face. Like Beetlejuice I would say it’s mostly like highlights, but all of the things that happen in the center part of the stage are captured really well and the video is DEFINITELY Christy centric. “Journey to the Past” is complete and gorgeous and you will cry. First act starts around when Anya meets Dmitry and the second act starts during “Crossing A Bridge.”

these two are less polished, ive just been using rosejcs as practice and experiment to stretch my drawing muscles in rendering bcs its been a while but the first one of these is based on another headcanon that the reason rosedas' braids are smaller and more scattered is bcs she fidgets by braiding her hair. and the second is based on how rosejcs starts with rosedas and roseus making graffiti, which is just adorable and holds potential, i feel.

Have you ever seen an Aardvark? I don’t think so.
Were you ever abandoned in a public place as a child? Where? Abandoned is a pretty harsh word lol. My parents did like playing pranks on me and hide whenever I’d get distracted at the grocery or department store. They’d let me get nervous or even tear up for a bit until showing up again.
What accent do you have? I guess just your standard Filipino English accent that’s common among people who were able to take up English studies. I don’t really know how to describe it.
Is there someone in your family addicted to something? What is it? I don’t think so.
Have you ever been under general anaesthetic? What were you having done? I think so? When I had a tooth extraction done on me two years ago I was told I was going to be injected with anaesthesia, but I didn’t feel as if anything changed throughout the procedure. Either my dentist told me fake news lol or he’s just really good at his job for me to not notice anything.
How do you show the ones you love affection? It depends on the person. Around my friends, I know I’ve had taken a liking to them once I start getting especially talkative with them. For people I have even deeper relationships with, I like...buying them gifts, I guess. Getting them things that remind me of them. I would also bend over backwards to do nice deeds for them, like driving them to their destination even if I find it far.
Are you more passive or aggressive? I tend to be very passive aggressive in the way I deal with things.
Do you like the band Aha!? Not in particular.
Do you know anyone called Aidan? What are they like? Nope.
Ever heard of the band Ajax? No but I know that’s a brand of like cleaner or something. That’s close enough to ‘band’ haha.
Do you know anyone called Akash? I don’t either.
Do the sound of fire alarms scare you? They would obviously be scary if it rang for a real reason. Who wouldn’t freak out over a fire?
Do you live in America? If so, which state? If visited, where'd you go? No, and I’ve never visited either. I’d love to take a trip to cities like New York, New Orleans, Portland, and Chicago one of these days.
Have you ever had an ant infestation in your house? Only when there’s food left out accidentally.

Do you have a preference in Apple? What type do you prefer? I don’t quite get this question - like a preference within Apple products? I mean, a phone and a laptop are essentials for me, and generally I do prefer having an iPhone and Macbook over other brands; but I can live without an iPad, an Apple Watch, iMac, Apple Pen, etc...if this is what you mean.
Are you an Aquarian? Is anyone in your family/your partner/best friend? ...You mean Aquarius? No. I don’t believe in astrology nor pay attention to zodiac signs either, so I wouldn’t be able to name Aquariuses that I know right off the bat.

Cinnamon - Yum or Yuck? I’m actually kind of in the middle about it. I feel like too many desserts have been banking on cinnamon, so the taste of it can be a little tiring. It’s delicious if I haven’t had it for a while, though.

I don’t tune into the channel but every once in a while I will encounter a CNN link on social media that I’d actually click on and read through. How many cousins do you have? I have 9 first cousins. I lose count by the time I try to go beyond that since I don’t even know all of my dad’s cousins, which makes it hard to track who my second cousins are.

What Element does your starsign fall under? I think earth? My co-workers were just discussing this last Friday, but I couldn’t really butt in since I can’t bring myself to care about astrology. I know they mentioned Taurus being an earth sign though.
Do you show your emotions easily and freely or hide them? Depends...I can do either depending on the situation.
What is your favourite form of entertainment? Korean reality shows are quickly becoming a favorite of mine at the moment. I also like compilation videos on YouTube.

Peux-tu nous raconter ton parcours et tes activités artistiques ? J'ai débuté le mix en 2007 lors de battle de danse sur Montpellier. Puis je me suis lancée dans la production en 2009 dans divers styles musicaux (Electro-Rock, Hardstyle et Psytrance principalement). J'ai fait plusieurs DJs contests dans la région montpelliéraine, mon préféré restera à jamais celui réalisé à La Villa Rouge qui était considérée comme une des plus grandes boîtes LGBT du sud de la France. J'ai également mixé dans des campings, bars musicaux et webradios, ainsi que dans plusieurs soirées caricatives (Secours Populaire, associations LGBT, centres d'hébergement pour SDF, Unis Cité, etc) En 2020, lors du confinement, j'ai pris quelques cours de mix auprès de la DJ NJ (anciennement Angie Coxx). Je suis également modèle photo et cosplayeuse.
Quand es-tu tombé.e dans la musique ? J'ai commencé à avoir une passion pour la musique dès l'enfance, il m'arrivait de me donner en spectacle dans le tramway en reprenant des chansons de Frédéric François et d'autres variétés françaises. J'avais également un oncle qui était technicien son et lumière qui m'amenait régulièrement dans les concerts dont il gérait la régie. Au collège, durant ma période rap, j'écrivais souvent des textes sentimentaux ou de problèmes sociétaires (harcèlement scolaire, dépression, absence parentale, etc). Au lycée, j'ai joué de la basse pendant quelques mois, et je me lancée dans la danse avec le hip-hop, la tecktonik et le shuffle que je pratique encore à l'heure actuelle. J'ai commencé à mixer d'abord pour ces battles de danse, et j'ai fait quelques productions également.
Tu te souviens de tes premiers.mp3 ? J'écoutais beaucoup de rap tel que Eminem, 50 Cent, IAM et Sniper lorsque j'étais au collège, puis je suis passée à un tournant plus Punk/Emo au lycée avec du Green Day, Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne et Tokio Hotel, et durant une période la Tecktonik.

Y a-t-il des artistes qui ont compté et t'ont donné envie de mixer ? J'ai eu de nombreuses influences au niveau musical. En DJs il y a eu Cut Killer, DJ Abdel, Daft Punk, David Guetta, Skrillex, DJ Furax et plus récemment The Chainsmokers. En chanteurs et chanteuses, j'adore Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, Andy Black et le groupe Kiss.
On parle souvent de la misogynie et LGBTQ+phobies dans la musique . Te sens tu investi.e d’un rôle par rapport à ça ? En tant que femme transgenre et lesbienne assumée, j'essaie d'exposer au maximum notre communauté à travers mes shootings photos, mes mixs, mes paroles et prochainement mes projets de clips. Je souhaite également collaborer avec des chanteuses engagées dans la cause féministe et LGBT. La scène féminine et LGBTQ+ a bien évolué en quelques années. Comment perçois-tu cette nouvelle vague qui secoue un peu les choses ? Grâce à des artistes telles que Hoshi, Suzanne, Angèle et bien d'autres, certains sujets sociétaires ont été dénoncés à travers les chansons, et cela a permis à certaines personnes de mieux s'assumer et revendiquer leurs droits. Tes artistes préféré.e.s du moment ? Mes artistes du moments sont Suzanne, Hoshi, Lady Gaga, Pomme, Angèle et Lil Nas X.
Avec quel artiste/dj aimerais-tu jouer? J'adorerais avoir l'occasion de mixer aux côtés du duo Pairplex (NJ et Jordan Patural). Ce sont deux DJs producteurs français qui m'ont énormément apporté de conseils. Sinon bien évidemment le must serait de collaborer avec les chanteuses que j'ai cité plus haut car leurs thématiques se rapprochent des sujets que je veux exposer à travers mon univers artistique.
Ton artiste queer préférée ? À l'heure actuelle, j'adore Lil Nas X, chacun de ses clips est un véritable chef d'oeuvre, ses textes sont assez provoc' et son look extravagant est très inspirant.
Une punchline / devise ? «Ils te jugeront de toute façon, alors laisse-les au moins te juger pour qui tu es réellement» Des endroits que tu recommanderais pour faire la fête (hors Covid)? Si vous passez du côté de Montélimar, n'hésitez pas à venir au club Les Voiles (lorsqu'elle aura réouvert), il y a de très bons DJs qui y sont passés tels que JC Nitro et Maddy Jay, qui savent vraiment mettre le feu à chacune de leurs prestations.
Tes prochaines actus ? Vous pouvez me retrouver actuellement tous les dimanches soirs de 23h à minuit sur la webradio Millenium FM. Je compte sortir un single durant l'automne 2021, j'ai déjà rédigé les paroles, mais il faut que je finalise l'instru et que je trouve un chanteur ou une chanteuse par la suite.
Que penses-tu de Support your Local Girl Gang  ? Les médias et collectifs LGBT féministes sont encore trop peu nombreux en France, même si actuellement grâce à certains artistes ces sujets deviennent de plus en plus d'actualité, il est important d'exposer ces thèmes et s'investir pour revendiquer nos droits. hey! i’ve been writing recaps since day one for the Crocker Corp arg, and figured i should start posting them to tumblr for people who aren’t in the discords! The recaps for the first ten days will be under the read more, and i will start posting daily recaps here :)
DAY ONE  The officalcrockercorp tumblr began sending out an invite to 16 people on tumblr for an all-expenses-paid tour of the CrockerCorp factory. The representative then opened up a q&a about the company. People began to ask more about the representative, who we learned to be an isolated being with glowing red, mottled brown and white skin whom She (crocker) refers to as "Heir", though if that means heir to the company or heir as in the class is unknown. Heir likes whistling, movies, swimming, the color red, bunnies, etc. It is heavily implied that Her and Heir are underwater somewhere. Heir almost certainly has a crocker tiara on and is under control of the batterwitch, as is seen by the frequent obey/consume text when certain questions that She does not approve are asked. Heir has no recollection of saying those obey/consume things. All 16 invitees have responded. There is a security breach where Heir is, and they left to take care of the threat. After saying there was a lot of noise and they had to leave, they dropped the first code- which led to a youtube video of an imgur image of the discord code. The tumblr has continued to post recipes, though there is no sign of Heir. Some people managed to friend and get in contact with a "representative"- while most of their messages only said "Currently all questioning is closed in relation to Crocker Corporation! We thank you for your patience. ". People who asked for jobs were denied for confidential reasons, but one person managed to get in touch with a representative for a short time before they disconnected for unknown reasons. DAY 2   People began to message Jane- the discord representative, and learn more about her situation. Jane had originally been texting normally, but after a "meeting", and a pfp change to include the condesce headband, she could only send standard copied messages. We learned that Jane and Heir were being held captive and controlled by Condy. Heir had been MIA on tumblr for a bit, and people were having coded conversations with Jane, as she could only say "obey consume submit" for quite a while- people resorted to a "once for yes twice for no" type of system. We've learned that Jane and John (who had been going by Heir on the tumblr) were in immediate danger, but that we could safely contact them through the email, and we needed the help of the 16 chosen to help them. Jane then sent some people the invite to the server that the 16 had created, and a few people joined to help them figure things out. The 16 had learned that Jane is currently in May 32nd (lol) 2040, and that the 16 are dead. This death can possibly be prevented, but they are not quite sure how yet. OG16 began to receive coded messages about their classpects- typically insulting each person individually and calling them weak. An encrypted youtube link went up (video 3), it was very difficult to decode, and then Heir went offline and the blog got rebranded to CrockerCorp Employee JE(edited)[11:29 AM]A lot more information has been gained through tumblr dms, discord "hacking", and emails. Using the representative codes that we had gained for JE (john), JH( jade), GT (jake,) and K (condy's wife), people have been talking a lot- im gonna split it up into sections for each app. tumblr dms: tumblr user sarcasmprodigy (one of the og16) had a long discussion with John. Firstly, we learned that DAVE STRIDER, ROSALINE LALONDE, DIEDERIK "DIRK" STRIDER, and ROXANNE LALONDE are essentially wanted by CrockerCorp. Dave for offensive movies, Rosaline for blacklisted literataure spreading anti-crocker propaganda, and Dirk and Roxanna for cybercrimes. After asking for more information about the "project", prod was told they needed a representative code to learn more. They sent K's code, which had been gotten through discord, and began to learn more. K (presumed to by condy's wife), has a higher ranking than John, so he was curious as to why K would ask about it. Prod used the persona of being concerned about the security breach, nd learned that john was only doing what condy told him to, and that nothing that requires a CrockerCorp ID would be told to the public. After questioning about breaches and such, John revealed that he had received an email from Rose Lalonde, the Younger one, containing Roxanne's IP address. John trusts her, as he cannot prove or disprove the IP address, and wishes K the best, and tells her to say hello to Her. emails: As people were standard emailing the representatives, some people decided to make new emails and essentially pretend to be characters- we called them "impersonators". There was a Rose, a Dave, a Dirk, and a Vriska, though most of this information will be from Rose. Rose- referred to as the Younger Rose- has gotten some interesting information regarding timelines. There are two Roses; Rosaline (alpha rose), who is writing anti-Crocker propaganda, and is in frequent contact with Dave Strider, creator of movies, and Rose the Younger (beta rose), who provided a fake IP for Roxanne, as CrockerCorp wants to hunt her down. Dirk- Dirk's emails got us in contact with GT (Jake) and just have some of the funniest things. They clearly believe that they have Dirk on lockdown since they have his sisters (Roxanne's) IP address, and tell Dirk to go meet with Condy, since he presumably has hacked the coordinates of her location. Dirk and Jake had some sassy back-and-forth, ending with the funniest thing of "use code PISSOFFDIRK at checkout for a IHAVEYOURIP% off discount on an order of DRONES$ or more!" so it seems that CrockerCorp is sending drones to the fake address that Rose had sent. lastly is "hacked" discord messages: a few users, mainly @Cosmic , "hacked" into the Crockercorp files using JH's (Jade's) rep code. After trying to access the EMPLOYEE ARCHIVES, which was deemed to be above Jade's privileges, strike two was added onto her identification. Cosmic found information on other codes- JE's code revealed CODE JOHN EGBERT STATUS: COMPLETED RATING: PERFECT INFORMATION: )(A)(A)(A NICE TRY LOSERS, GET BENT AN SUCK MY DIIIIIIIICK (thanks for that, condy.) and using a strange new code labelled TR found CODE TUMBLR STATUS: ONGOING/COMPLETED RATING: DECENT INFORMATION: START TUMBLR BLOG WITH JOHN PROMOTING CROCKER BRAND PRODUCTS. after trying to access "past inquiries", the third strike was added and Jade was summoned to speak with Condy. Fearing that our mistakes have essentially killed Jade, Cosmic emailed John, saying that they couldn't access the room if their card was locked. John frustratedly said, in red "I'll do what I need to do, now go see Her!! You're distracting me from the blog, and I'm only one person after all!" (poor john, please give him a break) As of now, one user is using K's code, since prod is done with it, to access the discord. Everyone has decided that it is best that only one or two people contact the discord/dms/email at a time, and that only one person is ever using a code at a time, since it could be dangerous if two different people try the same code at the same time. I believe that that should be all the crucial information, but that might be edited later if i got stuff wrong! (3/3)[11:30 AM]Additionally. The Meeting between Condy and Jade happens "Off-Camera" recap of the information I got accessing the database under K  Jade: alive, compromised, and unhostile, with two wash (brainwash) strikes. her projects were wiped with her. She has not worked on Sburb We need a code that we don't have yet to see information about the 16 and the "timeloop". jane is unknown (hostile or not), has 26 washes, and is uncompromised. Her id is 2-JC, implying that she is the second employee. I can't search up the first employee. dirk has committed a hilarious amount of crimes and is a stinky boy. he is alive and extremely hostile and once got arrested for "shits and giggles" roxy has committed several crimes including cyberbullying )(IC. dave strider 1 is half alive in a hospital- possibly related to second dave and dirk. crimes include being an asshole (+tall) and the sbahj movie. dave strider 2 is alive and stoic- crimes include calling )(IC a milf, lots of noise complaints on his record. brogarde strider is unknown except for the fact that he is possibly related to dirk and dave 2. most of his crimes inclue cyberbullying, and his very long arrest record mostly includes illegal possession of swords. rose lalonde 1 is alive and calm, at the location that Alice sent in her email. no crimes or arrests. rose lalonde 2 is alive and occasionally hostile, at presumably the same location as rose 1. offspring is unclear, crimes include anti-crocker propaganda, no arrests. ???? lalonde presumably Mom/ beta Roxy. no information. K: accessing her file led to a lot of blanks for name, status, bloodcolor, and projects. )(IC left a note that says ")(I SWEETIE <3" searching for K cause the system to shut down. there was a post on the tumblr that led to a code for another video showing footage of Roxy and Dirk that revealed the name of K- Kussinni. This name was used to finally log into the adfin account. Pat (as the adfin) made a few burner accounts that people can use. We got codes for MP, FP, EA, and DS, being the first few employees of the company. We did, well, adfin work, bumping up privileges for the adfin and guest accounts, creating burners for messages, etc. In classified documents, we learned that the 16 were set to beta test sburb in 2055. Brogarde is wanted ASAP so that he can be interrogated about strilondes. the timeloop file is largely redacted, but has to do with the 16 god tiering. We couldn't message )(IC, but we did get in touch with John for a few minutes before the system shut down. DAY 3  Jake is controlling the blog, though it is now shut down due to a massive security breach courtesy of Roxy and Dirk. Eridan has an account, and we used it to unblock Jade haha. People are talking to the person controlling the CC Discord! Their name is F which we knew from a code that we had gotten quite some time before)- we've been calling them Felix-  and they are a psionic!  They are an absolute 100% certified sweetie and we love them. They were taught emoticons, and even drew their own! They also invited dirk to talk with the 16. Dirk is currently just trying to get to Jake and de-crockertier him. After the security breach, Felix has not responded to anyone.
firstly, the tumblr led to a code to another video. The security breach was due to Dave 1 and Rosaline (both the older/alpha versions), who had infiltrated the Atlantic wing. 1000 drones were dispatched to deal with each of them. The video also showed felix- we now have confirmation that they are a goldblooded psiionic in control of the systems. felix/)(AI/Psiionic felix talked to us for a while! We learned that the breaches have mostly been sorted, Jade and Jane are both alive but in danger. jake is trying to work out Jades compromised identity. Felix told Dirk to piss his pants, and said "HE HE HE HE PISS BOY". Felix only knows the basics about the 16, such as their cl*sspects (which they needed to censor). Felix is not the only system, and the others are not friendly. Felix has only been "alive" for a few days, does not have a classpect, and got very upset when the deaths of the 16 were mentioned. Felix was made for the network to do everything, and vehemently refused to run a self diagnostic.  HAL/DIRK It seems that the Dirk we have been talking to was HAL all along. @ardentTheorist [AT] , dm'ing Dirk, was given a very fun challenge: to hack HAL. Hal had three files: Main, Backups, and Memes. Memes was password protected. Main led to a python file, captchas, perms, and art. when asked about unzipped programs, hal had the amazing line of "I have an unzip your pants program installed in me". not relevant, just very funny. Captchas led to something titled "Hmm.txt" Perms required an admin code. Artwork was simply dirk's canon art. Trying to get into the meme folder and guessing an incorrect password caused hal to shut down. Currently, the contents of the memes, permissions, and backups folders are unknown. Dirk, in response to a partially successful hack of his bot and frustrated about having to reboot Hal, claimed "Yeah, just rid a guy of his privacy. Can't have shit inside a bot folder." DAY 4  Felix: got a lot of new information from felix including ID's for a lot of characters. Kussinni is confirmed to be the Disciple, Sollux is Felix's repair guy who lets Felix get away with his art, and everybody is wearing tiaratops with the exception of )(IC and K. felix is inside of a moniter. Jade's files have merged with Jake's after her accident. Felix can access some cameras but has seen nothing unusual. Dirk was the last person who managed to access Jake's files before the passwords got changed. Only one account has the privilege to prevent people from getting locked out for guessing incorrect passwords. The led to a conversation between F and Dave 1 (David Strider). F, who is using the name Felix (he liked the name we gave him!!!) reached out to try to contact Dirk, but got David instead. David has a prosthetic arm signed by Dirk and Roxy. Felix happened to reach David because he is living with Dirk. Their house seems a bit crowded- it seems that David, Dirk, Roxy, Rosaline, Dave, and Rose the Younger are all living together. That leaves Bro, and ???? Lalonde with unknown locations. Dirk posted something that linked to a little conversation that linked to a discord user- David. People have been talking to him, and we have gotten some useful information amidst all of the memes. Firstly, David attempted to convince people that he was Roxy. This seems fitting for him, as identity theft was on his criminal record. David was probably the cause of the shutdown earlier, though it seems that he and Rosaline were able to get in and out of crockercorp relatively unscathed. This will lead to more security in the future, undoubtedly. It also is why we still have not heard from Felix in a while. David knows a bit about Sburb- he was very shocked to learn that he was talking to people who in time (2040) were dead. He knew about a couple of the 16s deaths, but not all. He did not know anything about the Timeloop (the file we could not access). he knows that Felix likes Dirk, which explains why Felix was trying to contact him earlier. Honestly, we got far more goofs than solid information. David hates being called old but will consent to being called Dadvid, just learned what a dilf is, and is 6'8 and buff. he hates cops. He's remained pretty tightlipped on everything, which is valid since he probably doesn't fully trust us yet. got a new video of dirk pranking david and making him piss his pants. DAY 5   The CC mainframe was rebooted. The person/ai running it is still using ID F, but it is no longer Felix. However, Dirk managed to get a backup of Felix before the system shut down and Felix is now inside of the glasses with Hal. Yes dirk ships Halix (get cucked, ardent). Felix no longer has a blacklist of information that shuts him down, but he also doesn't have access to the mainframe so he can only tell us what he remembers. When the system was rebooted, alice was sent an anonymous message written in binary saying "They found you". this message was sent two minutes before the reset from sector D, where sollux works. We have assumed that sollux has essentially been stalking us. alice responded with a discord tag in binary, so hopefully we will get in contact with Sollux soon. Felix used to have a physical body. The last thing that he remembers from it is being called from his sector by Sollux, who said that he had a "new task". Felix doesn't know Mituna, but believes Sollux might have said it. When sent an image of the Dolorosa, the Disciple, the Sufferer, and the Psiioniic, Felix said he recognized the horns of the Dolorosa and said that he had seen the Sufferer before, in a photo in Kussinni's office. He also has seen the Psiioniic, and Felix is not the Psiioniic. Felix saw him when he was walking to his new sector, and he was in a big room guarded by scary trolls. He was awake and when he looked at Felix the room lit up red and blue, and then sollux told Felix it was rude to stare. Currently, we're waiting with hopes of getting in contact with Sollux. We've gotten a message from sollux and he yelled at us. i'm hoping to get his discord so we can talk to him DAY 6 We got in contact with Sollux. we've put him in a lot of trouble and danger and we need to stop trying to brute force our way into the system, and we've prolly gotten most of the info we can out of it anyway. The only way we should try to get into the system is if we absolutely know the password and preferably run it by sollux first. John is alive. GT says he's doing "mighty fine and dandy" but, well, i dunno how realistic that is. Felix saw him a bit before he was reset and said that he looked sad, but okay. jake was standing in the doorway with him. DAY 7 Dirk has specific orders not to talk about the other striders, though from whom is unclear. A security recap shows that Sollux was sent to check up on Aradia, who is a very important and heavily gaurded project- Artificial Godtiers (implying she godtiered without playing sburb, possibly). She is in her dead god tier. When a mechanical voice said to run the task Timeloop, she floated off of the ground and the room was encased in red light. Sollux has not been heard from. We got the password to Aradia's account and finally accessed the timeloop file. It appears that if anything happens to the 16 before the godtier, the timeloop will run and reset everything. The CC needs all of the 16 to godtier so that they can exploit their powers. The creation date of Aradia's account is redacted, and she cannot access any other files. Sollux is alive, with no wash strikes. Dirk has gone MIA. He's infiltrating CC to rescue Jake. This is risky, and he didn't even tell David about it, just sent a few messages to certain people and left. I expect that he will shut down the system to get in, and hopefully I will get a ping when that happens. Dirk went to rescue Jake, leaving Felix and Hal behind. Hal, Felix, and David will all help us rescue Dirk, though they're unsure as to how. DAY 8  There's a new representative on the CC tumblr: PH. As there is no PH in homestuck but there is a Prince of Heart, it seems that Dirk's mission was. . .  unsuccessful. However, Hal is willing to work with us to save him. We've sent the Trojan file to the network, which will hopefully give us access to the cams. We can, theoretically, back up Hal and upload him into the CC Network; the opposite of what Dirk did to Felix. Hopefully Roxy will help us out. We aim to hack into a tiaratop. Roxy is going to back up Hal and then Ardent will upload him into the CC network. However, we should refrain from uploading anything to the network until we have Sollux's support. When we tried to upload the trojan file yesterday, sollux had to immediately kick everybody off of the system and implement a new password and he is not happy about it. however, that did get him to talk to us. he said that he saw dirk when he had to issue an ID for him, and that he looked extremely happy, though that isn't uncommon for new interns. His eyes were orange. I asked Dirk on the tumblr and he says that his left eye is red. Jake also has one red eye. This could mean that he is only half under control, and that we have a time limit for getting him back. Since Dirk and Jake are halfway there, it seems like its our turn to get them the rest of the way out. I will hopefully get a message from both Finn and Sollux when they are willing to talk, and I can get them to help us out. Our plan failed. But we got close. First and foremost: Finn helped. just a little; letting hal bypass a password, but it's absolutely something. I'll keep talking to him to see where we can get. When we tried to shut down Dirk's tiaratop, sollux yelled at us and deleted the files. sollux, while a cranky little bitchass coward who would rather block someone and pretend that his problems don't exist than actually do something (i promise im only still a little bit upset ;-; ). I tried to see if I could convince him to help, but he updated the security to ensure that we stayed out. I tried to tell him that we wanted to help Aradia, too, but he blocked me at the first mention of her name. (my bad) According to Roxy, Rosaline, Rose, and Dave all left the house to go somewhere. We got a new video that told us nothing we didn't know: it showed Dirk how Sollux described him; one eye red one eye orange, smiling broadly. His tiaratop is in the shape of the Prince crown. DAY 9 was widely uneventful- no answer from Sollux, David taking everything pretty hard, Finn is my best friend :). DAY 10 
 Dirk is a full employee. He's been artificially godtier'ed. It looks like hes similar to aradia- dead eyes. he is most likely being held with aradia. This might seem bad, but we can still save him. Sollux has a connection with Aradia and the AGT thing- this can work if we can get his help. The plan right now is, well, to come up with a plan. I'll talk to finn when he is offline and see if we can get confirmation about a lotta things and mainly see if he can contact Sollux for us. We'll continue to try to get in contact with Sollux. We'll work through this with the Strilondes and hopefully stay optimistic.
Sollux is willing to continue to talk to us!!! After a bunch of arguing, bantering, and death-threatening, he seems to have warmed up to us (he even friended me again!!! :3c). He just needed to be shown a little more kindness :). Amidst all the threats and cruelty, we seem to have learned a few things. CC can "bend time" and "redo anything", probably due to Aradia's powers. They could theoretically reset the timeline to before any of this, but that seems to be an empty threat for now. He can see all of the messages we send, even in hidden channels (we are Not going to witch hunt for a "mole" please and thank you) due to Hot Crocker Corp Tech. Sollux accepts how terrible his position at CC is, though this acceptance is mostly like the influence of the tiara. The tiaras seem to be influncing the emotions of the workers, numbing everything outside of their work. Sollux claimed that he was incapable of caring or remembering feeling happy or proud of, well, anything. He may say this, though it is still apparent that he cares deeply about Aradia. He talks about how pretty she is in her beautiful god tier outfit, and after some persuasion he even says that his favorite color is rust red <3. Unfortunately, the window that Sollux checks up on her through in only one-way, so she never sees or talks to him. This is what he meant when he said that he doesn't think his friends can see him.[5:31 PM]The superiors of CC are spreading propoganda to the workers about people dying when they tried to leave; it seems that they use fear tactics until their workers are completely numbed and controlled by the tiaras. There is no confirmation of these ideas being true or not. Sollux is still adamant about the fact that he is replacable; he uses this to frequently show his respect for Prod; another smart gemini. He mentioned something very curious- he said that the god tier powers of people outside of the 16 do not have to go unused. He told daven't to keep in contact with david for this purpose. As for the others: Hal and Felix seem to be fine, trying to take their minds off of what is currently happening and just enjoy watching some shows together. Both David and Roxy are getting hit pretty hard with everything, but will hopefully be okay. The system is currently shut down because pat mentioned heatbleeding to it. Sollux completely shut down the system at the first mention of it, so I don't think it'll work in the future. I'll hopefully get a ping when it goes back up, though I wasn't able to ask Finn for that before he shut down because it was so unexpected. Finn is very sweet and he's becoming more receptive to me talking to him (he uses exclamation points now instead of just periods!!!) so hopefully when the system goes back online i can talk to him more and he'll be willing to help us when we need it :) Now, this is kinda unrelated, but we should probably be careful about screenshotting most private dm's. Essentially, just don't let them know that you screenshotted it. We still need to make sure that everybody knows what is happening. The plan moving forward is to continue to talk, form allies, and get a solid plan :) . And that's all caught up! I will be posting recaps here at the end of each day from now on :)

hey it’s not warrior cat related. below i’m gonna rant about jesus christ superstar for a while. so if you’re just here for warrior cats feel free to move on.
if you want to understand me, know that my brain at any moment is thinking a lot about my fave musical/rock opera jesus christ superstar. do not get into a conversation with me about it.  anyone who has the misfortune of being my friend has received essays about that damn musical, or, more specifically, the 1973 movie (or the swedish live version... or the korean language version which I just discovered).  
anyway I was bored and started drawing up concepts for a gender neutral / “feminine” leaning jc superstar production, with a mix of vibes between 1970s hippie and 1800s Romantic poets/artists.  floral theme throughout.  pictured here is jesus’s get-up (center), with judas to the right, simon zealot to the lower left, and mary magdalene above.  is this production all about me living out my lesbian fantasies? yea
in my version we amp up the queer vibes by a lot. mary magdalene’s “i dont know how to love him” becomes “i dont know if I’m gay or just like this person as a friend” (definitely definitely not just me pushing my current internal struggles on a rock opera).  we go for swedish version’s chaotic bi/pan jesus but with a little more chill and wise vibes. like an emotional wreck the whole time but still is trying to be optimistic and kind and confident.  judas is just very similar to 1973 version; super emotional, super confused, super into jesus both as a friend and in another way.  simon zealot is genuinely trying to understand jesus’s deal and is militant only bc he thinks with violence like dumb humans do.  
disciples and jesus in general just seem like partying group of hippie/romantic artists who are very fluid with each other and seem to always be intellectually active.  lots of chalices with absinthe, dudes.  
the floral theme is always apparent. jesus has a flower crown and very very very long hair.  wears a floral cross necklace.  gives away flowers to people constantly. floral symbolism in many major characters; jesus gives judas a red rose at some point, mary magdalene has lilies for innocence or something, judas always has anenome, which indicates “fading hope and a feeling of having been forsaken. On a positive note it symbolizes anticipation” 
jesus’s flower crown slowly wilts during the whole performance, the most death/loss of petals occurs at his/her/their arrest, where they pluck off flowers and give to disciples “it was nice but now it’s gone/ why are you obsessed with fighting? stick to fishing from now on” as well as putting flowers with stems in rifle barrels [like hippies used to do].  and guess what?? flower crown ultimately deteriorates into crown of thorns by the crucifixion. oh yeah. we went there. 
I think that’s everything I’ve had on my brain for now? if you also vibe majorly with jc superstar let me know your thoughts.

Costume Notes: This is practically a partial replica of the 2012 JCS Broadway revival but on a smaller budget. It’s quite interesting as from the one clip I saw only Jesus, Judas and Mary M. are based on the 2012 revival, the other disciples all look very different. While the design replicates the revival, the fabric is quite different, and the blue tones are different. I would consider the revival to be more navy and indigo while this production went for a paled brighter blue (as if it was mixed with white to dull it). The brown scarf/shawl (reminds me of a stole) is more of a dull ocher and is thinner while the Revival was wider and a light pale blue or indigo/faded purple-brown. I also think the shirt is ruched differently than that of the revival, either that or they hid/shortened the chord that made the shirt bunch. His necklace is more of a reddish brown with green blue accents while the revival’s was black. The central charm on the necklace is like a green circle (kind of like sea glass) different from the hamsa on the revival’s. Unlike the revival, Judas is barefoot in this version, quite a bold move because stages can be dangerous for bare feet, also just imagine having to walk in the wings with bare feet, what a nightmare. His “Superstar” costume is a dark navy suit which is less fitted than the Revival ver. (also revival was more of a vibrant blue). He, like the revival, also has the sparkly blue vest?/shirt? though it’s a pity that it’s a bit big on him. He also wears these shiny blue loafer like shoes (revival was a sleeker blue “leather” heeled boot).
Production Notes: While I only have seen the “Heaven on Their Minds” and a few other clips from the show some of the staging is similar to the 2012 revival . 
“Heaven on Their Minds”: One is the cheek kiss Judas gives Jesus during the song, though Ryan dos it at a different part of the song then Young (the revival Judas). He kneels in front of Jesus during “found the new Messiah..” Ryan’s Judas also sings to Mary M. while holding her arm during the “Nazareth your favourite son..” part. They also have Jesus and the disciples walk across the raised walkway as Judas is alone on stage during one of the instrumental breaks (no chest bumping for Judas though). Also of course the whole disciples having a meeting behind Judas during parts of the song is also in this version. 
“Everything’s Alright”: Mary M. goes to Judas and holds him after his outburst about the waste of oil (though in this version Judas walks away from her). Less Jesus and Judas moments in this version and towards the end Judas is more distant than in the revival.
“I Don’t Know How to Love Him”:  Judas giving his coat to Jesus as a blanket is in this version! alas there is no clip of the actually action. Also Judas is watching them/ on stage (on the raised walkway) during the whole song.
Rob Ryan’s “Heaven on Their Minds” is available on his YouTube channel, while his voice is not quite how I would imagine the part of Judas sounding, I think he is good and an enjoyable Judas. For people who like the higher riff Josh Young doesn’t do in the Revival, rest assured Rob Ryan does go up for and “How put down we are...” and “Every hour...” Also on Alicia Rose Dishon’s YouTube channel she has the full scenes of “Everything’s Alright” and “I Don’t Know How to Love Him.” She is a sweet Mary M. so I recommend checking out her clips.

Josh Dzieza's deeply reported story on the dirty tricks used by Amazon's third-party sellers to beat their rivals is an outstanding read, and an important contribution to the debate about how automated systems that police user conduct fail at scale.
For many years, Amazon has balanced on a knife-edge between encouraging more third-party sellers (allowing sellers to fulfill direct from China, allowing sellers to send inventory to Amazon's warehouses for direct shipping, etc) and policing those sellers to weed out counterfeits and scams.
But every time Amazon creates a new zero-tolerance crime that can get sellers kicked off the platform, it also creates a weapon that other sellers can use to get rid of their rivals. Once, sellers rose in Amazon's search-ranking by paying people on Fiverr to write five-star reviews of their products. Today, sellers rise in the ranks by paying Fiverr jobbers to write five-star reviews of their rival's products, which gets the rivals booted off of Amazon.
There are so many shenanigans that Amazon sellers use to hurt their rivals. One interesting maneuver involves defrauding the US Patent and Trademark Office: if you show Amazon that you own a trademark, they'll give you an expedited process to boot people off the platform who violate that mark. But the US Patent and Trademark Office (incredibly) does not require any authentication to change the email address associated with a trademark, so scammers simply steal the trademark, get the real sellers kicked off of Amazon, and then market their counterfeits in place of the legitimate goods.
To make things (much) worse, Amazon does not allow the humans who review merchants' appeals to exercise their own judgment or even explain the policies. Vast banks of workers in Costa Rica, India and the Philippines are expected to review a new appeal every four minutes, and are punished if they grant too many appeals. They are not permitted to reply directly to appeals they reject: they can only pick from a selection of vague boilerplate paragraphs that leave sellers tearing their hair out as they try to figure out what they did wrong (some examples: your rustic furniture store gets shut down because someone mentioned getting a splinter in their review, but no one at Amazon will tell you that).
This has given rise to a fast-growing industry of high-priced "Amazon lawyers": consultants who are well-versed in Amazon's terms of service and who meticulously documented the appeal approaches that have succeeded for others. They teach you how to "speak Amazon," and they understand that Amazon doesn't care whether a user complaint is true or false -- they want you to address whatever gave a user a false impression (for example, if users complain that you sold used goods as new, Amazon doesn't care if the goods were new, only why the user thought they weren't).
It's basically an Amazon-only version of swatting: Amazon has created a "shoot-first, ask questions later" process for punishing bad sellers. Bad sellers, in turn, use the fact that Amazon will instantly (and often irrevocably) destroy any business you accuse of certain bad acts, to kill their competitors' business.
This is typical of many online processes, but the one that is most urgent is the EU's Article 13, which will force platforms to censor anything that appears in an open, crowdsourced database of "copyrighted works" (in reality, it's a database of "things labelled as copyrighted works"); the EU's answer to warnings about inevitable abuses of this system is that the platforms can just create an appeals process. Amazon is a great example of how that plays out in the real world. Once the authorities enact a zero-tolerance policy, everyone is guilty until proven innocent -- and when the "authority" is a giant corporation with hundreds of millions of users, the process by which you prove your innocence is "a Kafkaesque bureaucracy with bad writing," in the words of JC Hewitt, a lawyer who often represents Amazon sellers.
And of course, no one would put up with this shit if there was somewhere else to go, but with Amazon having successfully monopolized the ecommerce market, there isn't.

It’s shot from the very front row of the stalls at the side so, although this causes a lot of problems for the brave person who filmed it, we DO get many nice close-ups and a chance to see the show from quite an unusual angle at times! Very clear sound throughout.
