For a minute I was legit like, y'all really only depowered the gays? Like 2 other supes died and didn't come back without powers but Jed does?
But then I thought about it and technically their powers both came primarily from curses, from things they had no choice in and at times weren't always happy about even if a lot of their identities were built around them. So the fact of them Both learning to just be regular humans together, to live This one normal mortal life together, choosing each other as they find themselves, is really poetic.

Now that I’ve screamed enough about the episode, I really want to focus on Jed/Ben’s whole storyline through it😅
Starting with Jed and Finch in the beginning. Jed has stated multiple times how the pack comes before everything - a pretty responsible and honorable mindset for an Alpha who's supposed to be the pack's leader and protector. The second Jed realizes he might not be able to hold himself back from helping Ben and how that would impact the pack, he turns to the first person he trusts the most with them, Finch - bonus points we actually get more friendship content :') - because he knows she cares and that she would do whatever it took to protect them like he would. Not to mention he tells her to ignore him and focus on them - because he's made his choice and he knows there's a chance he won't come out alive and he sure as hell wouldn't let the pack pay the same price. He makes sure the pack is safe and cared for above everything else.
Did he have to die? No because for god's sake, Alaric should have handled that better.
Did it make for great angst? Yes. Yes, it did.
(And tbh this is the tvdu if you haven't died at least once are you even part of it?)
Just the fact that Ben was probably reliving Ashur's death, once again too late and not able to do anything and then turning against his father, about to go up against him even though he's mortal and has no chance? Wow.
But then the payoff... When I tell you I couldn't keep still when I saw Ben in the end because I knew the reunion was coming and I knew it was going to be good...
Also, pointing out the little fact that Ben was over there helping the werewolves probably because he knew that's what Jed would have wanted...
And just the hug, the kiss, the I thought I lost you, the talk about not wasting their second chance... I am dying.
All I need is a proper I love you in the last episode and I'm good to go😅

if I had a nickel for every time a helpless bystander one of jed and ben’s children were caught in the middle of one of their arguments…i’d only have two nickels. but it’s still kinda funny it happened twice.

Prove it (Jed x Ben)
Ben lay on the cot of the prison cell, staring at the ceiling. He could easily break out of the cell. It wouldn’t take long to bend and break the bars. He could find his father and acquire his boon.
But Jed.
Jed wouldn’t trust him again. He didn’t trust him right now.
Ben closed his eyes.
“Why,” said a familiar voice. Ben opened his eyes. Jed was standing on the other side of the cell. His arms crossed. His face was a mix of anger and hurt.
Ben got up. “Why what?”
Jed uncrossed his arms and placed his left hand on the bar. “Why didn’t you come and tell us?”
“I was trying to break my curse and to that, I had to free my father. You would have stopped me.”
“You’re damn right,” he seethed. “I would have stopped you to keep us and you from getting hurt. You know what your father is like. Why would you risk it?”
“I would have been fine. The boon is that of divine oath. No god can break their promise.”
Jed didn’t answer. Ben stepped forward closer to the bars. To Jed.
“I was trying to gain control over an inevitable situation. Your friend, the headmaster’s daughter, helped kidnap me with that woman,” he spat.
Jed’s lips parted.
“She threatened to kill everyone here including you. They both wanted to raise my family for their own purposes. I was doing the same.”
A silence hung over the room.
“You could have come to me.” His lip quivered. ”You could have trusted me.”
“I do trust you.” He placed his hand near Jed’s. “I love you.”
Jed looked at their close proximity of their hands Ben’s fingers reached out and caressed his skin. He looked back at Ben. His blue eyes pleaded for forgiveness and understanding.
He shook his head and backed from the bars, yanking his hand away.
“If you loved me, you wouldn’t have hurt my friends.”
“Jed, please,” Ben pleaded, his voice breaking from emotion. “I know I screwed up but I can make it right. I love you. I would do anything to protect you. I’ll prove it to you.”
Jed could feel the tears rising. He blinked them away and left the room.
“I’ll prove it to you,” Ben yelled. His words echoed for a few seconds. He hoped Jed was still around to hear. His own eyes were swelling. He lost all he loved and felt pain worse than all mortals through the millennia. But this hurt more. His heart ached and he gripped the iron bars for support. He closed his eyes, trying to quell his own tears but they escaped. Streaming down his cheeks. Falling and hitting the floor like rain from the sky.
“I’ll prove it to you,” he whispered. “If it’s the last thing I do.”
