The 'knowing something exists but not knowing where' is so annoying so I feel you on that one, the 2015 ML pic! I feel that way about a funny red carpet interaction between G and Lil Kim (not one of the well-known pics, a video snippet). Saw it, then never found it again. Or Gwen asking for a tissue saying she wouldn't mind one that has boogers on it. Never found that one again either.
Do you have the original ML 'Gwen Stefani is such a rockstar' interview clip? I only have the GIF version.
I watched that clip with sound a few times but it has vanished. It had vanished by early 2016, I think.
When I was watching it in fall 2015, I did not know of much of anything about ML, had no idea how she had treated Blake, and I actually felt bad for her. I was like, whether she dumped him or he dumped her, imagine your ex starts dating Gwen next! Jeez! That’s got to sting. Gwen is, well, a total effing rockstar! And then imagine there is a clip of you saying that exact thing. 😬
I guess she felt the same because the gif remains but the clip with sound where she says Gwen’s name and then talks about Gwen and Pink being icons and making her proud to a be a woman, is gone!

My HC: Kanna finding out Law likes $B
My two comfort characters finding out once again that they like the same artist. (I kinda wanna draw it now LOL)
!!Drawing TW: Self Harm!!
Tumblr media
SFW, Depression, Law being caring
(Kanna working out with earbuds in)
Law: Kanna-ya, take those out. They’re not good for you. Jeez, what are you listening to anyways-
My ribs are nothing but an empty cage, black hole in my chest
Big bang, Yung Plague on the tip of a wave
In my head, I feel like I'm a guest, so I'ma throw it all away-
Law: Oi! You like $B?
Kanna: Love ‘em! Why, is it too much? :0
(Law smirks discreetly) Hm, interesting.
(Kanna now smiling, alittle embarrassed) Wait, do you like them too?
Law: Yeah.
Kanna: Captain :D! No way! That’s so cool! I love $B! (Her invisible tail is wagging) what’s your favorite song?
Law: Finish your workout and we can talk about it later.
Kanna: Pawright :0 (putting her earbuds back on)
Law: I don’t mind listening with you while we work out. Keep it unplugged.
(Kanna smiles) Yeah :)
(Silence)
(While working out) Remember you can talk to me too, Kanna-ya.
Kanna: I know. Their music is just therapeutic. The sound just helps block out sad thoughts.
Law: I get that.
(Silence again)
(Law doing push ups)…Antarctica
Kanna: Your favorite song?
Law: I mean, I don’t have one in particular, but I guess I really like that one.
Kanna: I wish I could see them in concert.
Law: We wouldn’t have time for it.
Kanna: Yeah, I know. Ah, wait :0!
(Kanna reaches for her phone) Can we watch their Rolling Loud 2024 set tonight? I haven’t seen it yet!
(Law pauses to drink some water) I’ll see if I can make time for it. I’m pretty busy, but I’ll try. (soft and tired smile)
(That night, Law while watching Rolling Loud 2024) Yeah, we have to see them live.
Song Credits!!

Hello I’m a Larry but I feel like they broke up a couple of years ago. I’ll also say I’m more of a Harrie and his music makes me believe he’s been in other relationships. But I’m also willing to be convinced otherwise!! The hopeless romantic in me wants to believe in the strength of their love so I guess my question is what evidence have you gathered that makes you believe they’re still together even now? I know this might be a lot to ask. Thanks in advance !!!
I’m this close to grabbing a digital pen and correct Larry to Larrie. (Did you know it’s one of the signs of having trolls in the dungeon)
Anyway. I do want to answer.
Life. Dear anon. It’s life that taught me everything. Do tell me when you time their break up - because I’ve been here since more than “a couple of years ago” - i know it’s super easy to throw this sentence - but you’re telling this to someone who has been here lol - and I wasn’t in my diapers on the playground when these 2 fell in love. So when do you time their break up? Because you know they’ve lived half their lives in the spotlight, in this industry and time and time again -let’s just say day-by-day week-by-week only proved the immense respect, and love they feel for each other. We’ve had these naysayers like you in the years, so this is nothing new but you know what? None of you are ever able to point out a period which proves that these 2 have broken up.
This is not a movie or high school. They have fought tooth and nail for their love, for their freedom, they “hid” it when they had to, but even then- jeez it gives me chills to remember all those moments- even then an eye movement, a caring look, a hidden touch, the other’s reaction- it just gave it away. And not to mention how fucking obvious they were when they didn’t hide it and just let it all out.
Life. Because I happen to be in a loving and supportive relationship since 2007. Because love isn’t a break up - getting together- break up- getting together spiral. Love is about trust, and respect, and growing together, being better together, finding your best friend in the other, it’s about fighting for what you two have together. That’s what they did when they were babies - fighting w modest, sony, whatever you want to add here. They don’t need to fight though because as soon as the cameras stop rolling they’re an out-couple to the surprise of no-one in this industry.
Life because we have 5 people in the same band and always these 2 seem to be so goddamn unlucky to share clothes ON A CONSTANT (to be PC), who finish each other’s sentences, who when even making eye contact making the other 3 look aside to their handlers with a pale face, always these 2 who in the band disappeared at the same time, who even AFTER 1D were still disappearing from the globe at the same time and reappearing at the same time, who had to have 235 stunts running at the same time to make them straight otherwise if you strip these stunts down all you have is two singers w constant denial of their sexuality. (Remember what Sir Elton John said..), it’s only these 2 whose teams work still to this day to make you and others believe H and L aren’t even in the same continent because god save them from cutting all their record incomes.
Life. Because WHY. You cannot explain why this happened in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 (you’re damn right I’ll type all the years out), 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and keeps happening in 2022 spring- summer.
Life. Because you learn what is THE LOOK. What it means that “when you know you know”. Because you learn that 16 year olds don’t just utter things out like always and moving in together and home. Because it IS possible to be and still be with your first love.
Life. Because relationships do not have an expiration date, because it can happen, because it does happen. Because those looks and touches were the very thing that drew me here in the first place and you cannot fake this shit.
Life. Because you can be w your SO together for years and they’d still say they’re not willing to have ONE innocent couple tattoo.
Life. Because celebrities lie. Money talks. Paps are paid. This industry is homophobic. Media shows what is paid for. What you see - they want you to see that.
Life. Because you learn to look at what you’re not shown, what you’re not told.
Life. Because in the 242 million pregnancies people have a year, they DO show at 8 months. 🙃
And finally: Because they’ve come so far from Princess Park and that lyric fits no one and he’s a habit that he CAN’T BREAK and he’s happy to shout this out every night to his fans anon.
Life. Because the strength of these words, all their goddamn lyrics goes deep in your heart and you know it’s not just some cheap 1000 words Y/N on goddamn wattpad.
Have a nice Saturday anon! 💚💙

Unrelated to your stories, but how did you become a BTS fan? And since when?
Oh jeez, it's been quite a while! Let me give you the rundown!
Back in 2012-ish, I was writing fanfic on Quotev...as an eleven-year-old 😂 Anyways I made a friend there a few years later who got me into anime and one of my favorite animes was Tokyo Ghoul. Well, about 2014 - 2015 (ish) there was this post trending that was saying "hey this guy looks like the real-life Ken Kaneki!" And it was actually Taehyung when he had white hair!
So being a young teen who was in love with anime characters I tried to figure out who he was and I discovered BTS at the time. Anyways I kind of forgot about them and moved on when my knowledge was satisfied. But then, back when Vine was around, I kept getting these edits of these guys dancing in an empty pool and I looked them up again and I was like "Ah ha! V! I know you!"
Anyways it was Fire and I added it to my playlist and I would actually work out to that song. At that time I was training to run a mile for Cheer because that was mandatory at my high school, so I would blast fire while I was dying at the track.
After that I started listening to them casually - I remember blasting Save Me, I Need U, and then Younger Forever which quickly became my favorites (especially Save ME).
But then Wings came out. My best friend told me about it and I listened to the entire thing and after that I wasn't a causal listener anymore 😂To this day, Wings is my favorite album and I don't even own a copy 😭
So! I became a pretty dedicated listener in 2016 - BTS was honestly the soundtrack of my high school years and they got me through so much shit. Set me on my fitness journey too which covid threw me off 😂
This was a really long explanation but I love looking at the domino effect of events that occurred o bring me to this point! I actually wanted to start writing in 2016-2017 but I stopped myself from doing it because I didn't think I knew enough about their personalities to do it and I am honestly glad I waited despite feeling like I lost time 😅
Ah, I'm so nostalgic now.

Since I know that a few of my mutuals are music folks, imma babble about Ben Folds some more.
The man is an amazing artist.
Somehow I'd forgotten about his 2015 album "So There" with the yMusic ensemble. It's outstanding.
I'm GenX and coming up on a milestone birthday, so the poignant, heartfelt ballad "I'm Not the Man" (lyrics) really hit hard. I mean, I liked the song from the first listen, but jeez. It's beautiful and catchy and moving and hits you right in the feels as you're tapping your foot and/or singing along.
Several of Folds' or the Ben Folds Five's songs bring tears to my eyes. This is one of them.
Gonna grab some tissues and listen to it again.
youtube
There could be fewer days ahead than gone And all I've spent are long since on my way To learn that nothing comes for free But I'm not the man... I'm not the man... I used to be

Blast from the Past Music Game
thank you @lupeloto for the tag!
Name: Scurv
Nation of Birth: USA
Teen Decade: 2008-2015 (y’all, I had to THINK about when I turned 20, jeez)
Share a song that you once would have included on every playlist/mix cd/mix tape you made, but which hasn’t travelled with you into 2023.
The Sounds - Dance With the Devil. Also a lot of M*rilyn M*nson before his shit came out/I was aware of his shit.
Where did you first hear this song?
Pandora! Which is how I listened to most of my music. I remember fewer songs than the radios I had, which were AWOLNATION (which I still love), My Chemical Romance (still ADORE, always an MCR girlie), and Regina Spektor (again, still love when I am feeling a certain way about life). My three modes - dancin’, EMO, and “I actually feel REAL REAL sad and NEED to cry about it”. Oh and my study radio but that was spawned with Parov Stelar and Ratatat, but that doesn’t really count.
How old were you when you first heard the song?
I think 16?
Being who you are now, how do you feel about the song?
I remember feeling this went a lot harder than it actually does? I still like the beat though and I don’t have any negative feelings about it.
What is a song you love now that fills the same kind of vibe as this, but more befitting your current self?
Green Honda by BENEE Such a fucking bop.
But also.....Babylon (Haus Labs Version) by Lady Gaga because it is just *chef’s kiss*
This was fun! Tagging @milkmaidovich (with all your recent Pop Punk Mickey stuff, I wanna know!) @depressedstressedlemonzest  @deedala @gardenerian @jademickian and anyone else who wants to do it!

Hi girl! new fan here 🤗 I LOVE your blog, definitely my favorite when it comes to Pedro news and your readings? chef's kiss 🤌🏻 speaking of which, I have a request 🤭 I'm currently watching Narcos (I'm in the middle of season 2) and, jeez, how GORGEOUS was Pedro during that time, right? so I was watching him and I couldnt help but think "who was the lucky person who was getting all that? 😭" so I went on google to see if he was dating anyone at that time and nothing came up...? so yeah, I will appeal to your cards my dear: did Pedro had a serious relationship between 2015/2016? I believe that was the time season 1 and 2 were filmed, right? PLEASE, help a curious bitch 🥺👉🏻👈🏻
Hello! Thank you so much for the love and the kind words! 🥰🥰💜 So, in an interview to Mr. Porter from 2017 Pedro said his last relationship had been three years before, which would make it 2014. From that, we can understand he wasn’t dating anyone in 2015/2016, at least not serious. That said, I was still curious to see what the cards would show us about this time of his life, so I asked your question. The Major Arcana were Strength, Death reversed and The Hanged Man.
Tumblr media
Oh, well. Strength means he was possibly taming and subduing any feeling he could have. He wasn’t open, he wanted to master his emotions and not let them flow, even if they were strong. He was holding back a lot. Death reversed points to him still stuck on something from the past. He couldn’t let it go, he couldn’t move on, so he could definitely not start something new. The Hanged Man (oh, him again!) shows us he was, once more, holding back, suspended, unable to deep dive and hesitating.
The Minor Arcana were Page of Pentacles reversed, Ace of Cups and King of Cups. Page of Pentacles reversed with Strength points to him feeling stuck, or insecure, lacking motivation, unable to commit and avoiding making any effort for it. He tamed his emotions, so he was stagnant and lacking any will to pursue relationships. Ace of Cups with Death reversed is interesting because he could not let new love begin, he could not let it flow, because he was still stuck on something (or someone) from his past. If love knocked on his door, at that point he would not open. The Hanged Man with King of Cups means he needed to allow himself to deep dive and let go of his uncertainties, of whatever was holding him back, because only then he would be able to reach emotional maturity and be able to let love in.
So the cards do show this man wasn’t dating anyone because he wasn’t open (as usual). And the funny thing is he probably did have flings and hookups that could have become more (these Cups cards) but he runs from commitment like the plague.
I even asked again the same question and this time, the Major Arcana were The Hanged Man (yep, again!), The Hierophant and The Devil.
Tumblr media
Okay, so you already know The Hanged Man is suspended and hesitant, holding back. The curious thing is The Hierophant is a card that can represent serious relationships and marriage depending on the context, but this time, given the other cards, it makes me think Pedro is VERY stubborn in his internal “laws”. He decided he would not let love in, he put himself in suspension, and he followed it like gospel. His beliefs, his ideas about the way he would live his life were very inflexible when it came to that, his “way” was his “law”. And what did he do? The Devil points to him being horny instead, having casual sex and flings while avoiding feelings. This card is not always about that, but in this context, yeah, the man did surrender to the carnal pleasures, lust and desires, or at least that’s what he was open to.
The Minor Arcana were 9 of Wands, 3 of Cups and Ace of Swords. 9 of Wands with The Hanged Man is almost redundant. It’s hesitation and holding back because you don’t think you can pull it off. 3 of Cups with The Hierophant means he was having a really good time, partying, going out with friends, maybe having different sex partners, but having fun above everything, and that was his “law”. Ace of Swords with The Devil shows us he had things very clear in his mind about what kind of “relationship” he wanted. He was rational and he started things with people knowing it was all about lust, probably letting them know that too.
So, from Pedro’s words and from the cards, he was not dating anyone, but he was most likely getting some action…
And since I know you’re going to ask for the 2017 interview, here’s the link:

Until Dawn Rewrite - Werewolf vs Wendigos - Beth Washington x Thiam!Daughter!Reader - AU
A/n: Back on the bullshit of a video game from 2015? More likely than you think. Crossing Until Dawn over with Teen Wolf? More likely than you think too.
The original events of Teen Wolf occur way earlier for reader to be born in 1996/1997 to Thiam, in a world where it’s normal to have two fathers in that time *rolls eyes at society*
You’d been crushing on Beth Washington since the first day you met her, but you hadn’t realised until years later when Sam and Josh had been teasing you about it.
Your crush got worse after one summer when you were 16 and you underwent a supernatural change that you hadn’t told any of your friends about.
You were in the kitchen with Beth when she found the note to lure Hannah up to the guest room.
Josh and Chris were both passed out on the counter, drunk off their asses.
“Jeez Josh... once again brother, you’ve out done us all.” Beth remarked, leaving you to chuckle as you poked Chris.
“Oh my god.”
“What’s up?” You asked, walking over to see what Beth was looking at.
“What’d our naive sister get herself into now?” Beth glanced at Josh, passing you the note as you tsked.
“They really can be horrible sometimes.” You growled, looking up as Beth gasped at Hannah going past the window.
“Shit, Beth, it’s a snowstorm out there!” You exclaimed as Beth ran to Josh, trying to wake him up.
“Josh! Josh! Josh! Fuck!”
You were out of the kitchens door first when you heard Beth.
“Guys! There’s someone outside!”
“What the hell?” You mumbled, passing Beth her coat as she ran ahead of you.
“What’s going on? Where’s my sister going?”
Beth’s questions had you glancing out into the snowstorm, trying to subtly sniff out her trail.
“Ugh, it’s fine, she just can’t take a joke.” Jess grumbled, leaving you to stare at Mike.
“It was just a prank, Han!” Emily shouted out into the snow.
“What did you do?” Beth asked, noticing how you were slowly edging towards the path Hannah took.
“They were idiots, that’s what.” You growled, glaring at Mike as he spoke.
“We were just messing around, Beth, it wasn’t serious, Y/n.”
“What’s serious is that she could freeze to death, you asshole!”
Punching Mike wasn’t a great idea since your strength was at supernatural level, the crack everyone heard from your fist hitting Mike’s nose made that obvious.
Tumblr media
You hadn’t heard Beth run after Hannah, calling them all jerks until you were being pulled back by Matt.
“I think my nose is broken, ugh, what the hell Y/n!” Mike snapped but you’d shoved Matt away to glance out into the snow to track Beth.
“Sam, nobody else follows me. Call for help if we aren’t back.” You stated, ignoring how Sam had grabbed your wrist as you ran into the snow.
“Y/n! You’re not wearing shoes!”
It didn’t matter what path Beth took after Hannah, you could track them both.
Something else was tracking them too though.
You heard it.
So you let out an animalistic warning noise, loud enough that the people at the lodge heard.
“Was that a wolf?” Ashley asked, but her question went ignored.
“Jesus, fuck, shit. Jesus, Hannah, where are you?” Beth muttered to herself, glancing around after dodging the herd of deer.
Beth wasn’t hard to track, you knew her scent.
But the smell of burning wood detered you until you heard the flamethrower and Beth muttering to herself.
“What the hell was that?”
“Hannah! Hannah! Hannah!”
“Hello?”
“Oh my god, you must be freezing!”
You heard them reunite but it wasn’t long after that you realised you needed to do something else.
You needed to protect them from whatever was hunting them.
You heard them scream so you ran faster, feeling your body shift into a more wolfish version as you ran on all fours like that was normal for you.
You saw the figure blasting fire at the creature, so you jumped at the cliff edge as the branch Beth was holding began to snap.
A scream left Beth’s lungs as your teeth clamped around her wrist, her eyes widening when she met your eyes.
You weren’t strong enough to hold up both Beth and Hannah as your grip on the cliff had you sliding off.
The last thing you saw was Beth and Hannah falling.
You were screaming.
Howling.
///
You woke up briefly when Sam found you on the doorstep at the back door, calling out to the others.
“Oh my god!”
“They’re freezing!”
“Y/n!”
“We need to get them inside!”
“Are Hannah and Beth with them? Y/n! Where the hell are my sisters!” Josh screaming didn’t help as you kept shaking, struggling to breathe as your teeth chattered.
“Josh! They’re in shock.”
“How the hell did you make it back? Y/n?”
“I, I can’t, can’t, remember...” You mumbled, ignoring Mike as you shuffled closer to Sam and Ashley.
“What happened to Beth and Hannah?”
Chris’ question wasn’t the best to ask as you began to gasp for air, the memories were hazy but one thing was for sure.
You remembered the screams before it all went black and you passed out.
“Did they just-”
“Oh crap!” Sam swore, realising immediately you’d fainted.
///
Even the idea of returning to Blackwood Mountain a year later made you want to throw up.
Sam had to persuade you after Josh guilt-tripped you about the twins’ disappearance.
You never told anyone that the memories had cleared up in your nightmares.
You knew Josh was experiencing more than grief when you saw him.
The chemosignals made you want to be sick but you played it off as feeling nauseous over the cable-car ride up.
The signals alone were enough to send you spiralling.
Sam had suggested you take a nap after someone got a fire going so you could keep warm.
Josh agreed, setting one up so you could curl up on a couch.
You didn’t know that was part of Josh’s plan so he could try get you to talk about what really happened to Hannah and Beth.
You didn’t know, because you were napping until Sam was throwing things and running around in a towel.
“Sam? What the hell is going on?”
“Hello.”
You sensed him behind you before you saw him, jumping up to stand on the couch as you took in the overalls and the skull clown mask and wig.
Tilting your head to the side, you stared at him as his scent and chemosignals prompted your realisation.
“What the fuck are you doing, Josh?”
“Josh is dead. And you’re next.”
“You wouldn’t be the first to try and fail, Josh.”
He growled at that, walking with a fury towards the couch but you jumped over it, tilting your head to the side and trying to not glow your eyes or shift.
You’d spotted a glint of a camera when you had sat on the couch, but it didn’t occur to you that everything recorded would be on the internet until you almost shifted.
Sam had escaped him by hiding in the dumbwaiter; ending up in the basement looking for clues. So that left him to set his sights on you.
“You’re doing this fuckfest of a prank because of Beth and Hannah.” You realised, dodging the blade he was holding.
“You feel guilty because you were so drunk you couldn’t move when Beth tried to wake you. You blame yourself and you blame the others because of that stupid prank. Well, guess what Josh, I blame myself because I didn’t catch them in time.”
“Catch?”
“I heard them scream, I ran over but I couldn’t reach, something grabbed me and I remember screaming then everything went black. I woke up on the porch.” You explained before gasping as Josh stabbed you in the arm with something.
“Motherf-”
///
“Oh my god!”
“What did you do to Y/n?”
You could hear Chris and Ashley before you saw them, opening your eyes to see them looking at you from where you were on the floor.
“Girl acted cocky, but she was easy to-” The Psycho taunted them, pausing as Sam and Mike rushed in.
“Jesus-” Mike was cut off as he heard ropes snapping, leaving everyone to stare at you as you stood up, completely unphased.
“How did you... that doesn’t matter-” The Psycho was cut off as Chris tried shooting him.
“Oh, Chris, Chris, Chris, you’ve heard of blanks before? I mean really?”
Your face was unreactive when Josh removed the mask, revealing himself as The Psycho.
You ignored how everyone reacted, using your claws to cut through the ropes holding Ashley in her chair as Sam tried to help Chris.
“Oh, well done, every one of you, you got my name!” Josh laughed, leaving you to gag at the chemosignals.
“How does it feel? I mean, do you enjoy feeling terrorised? Humiliated? I mean, panicked? All those emotions that my sisters got to feel once a year ago? Only guess what? They didn’t get to laugh it off! No! Nope! No! No! No! They’re gone!” Josh yelled, leaving you to tense your shoulders, ignoring how Sam had tried to check on you.
“I don’t know if you noticed this. Josh, but none of us are laughing.” Mike retorted, gaining your attention as you smelt a familiar scent on him that wasn’t his or Jessica’s.
“-It’s good to get the heart racing every now and then. And race they did, every one of you, pitter-pat, pitter-pat-”
“Every now and then? Mine hasn’t stopped since that night, I still get nightmares, I literally hear their screams, I remember the fire, I remember the taste of blood in my mouth, you think I could laugh that off!” You exclaimed, ignoring how Josh just laughed.
“You should have seen your faces! Hook line and sinker for every little stinker!” Josh exclaimed, jumping as you growled at him.
“Well he’s definitely off his meds-” Chris replied to whatever the hell Mike said that you missed.
“That and on the wrong ones entirely. Ever heard of comorbidity? Two or more conditions occuring at once with similar symptoms, can lead to misdiagnosis.” You replied, folding your arms to hide how your claws hadn’t retracted.
“Oh come on, you guys! Revenge is the best medicine!”
“You’re done!” Mike shouted, not seeing how you let out a breath, unfolding your arms to rest your hand on Ashley’s shoulder, claws returning to fingernails.
“Mike, he’s sick!” Chris exclaimed, turning his head to face Mike before looking back at Josh.
“Your fingerprints were all over this Josh, it was obviously you.” Sam’s voice was calm as she talked to Josh, unlike Mike who was raging.
“Oh really? Really, really really?” Josh rambled but Sam just kept talking.
“You’re crying out for help, Josh. Come on, you wanted to get caught, didn’t you?” Sam prompted but Josh just stared at her.
“What? Come on, you guys are all going to thank me when you guys become internet sensations!”
“Wait, what, what?” Chris mumbled before Sam grabbed your hand as you began to walk over to the visible camera.
“Oh, you guys better believe this little puppy is going viral ladies and germs. I mean we got unrequited love, obstruction of justice from Y/n over there, we got, we got blood. I don’t think there’s enough hard-drives in China to count all the views we’re going to get, you guys!”
“What are you talking about, you asshat? Jessica is dead-”
“Mike. Why do you smell like Beth?” Your question caught everyone off-guard as Mike punched Josh in the face, knocking him out.
“What?”
“Y/n?”
“Why do you smell like Beth?” You asked again but Mike ignored you, leaving Ashley and Sam to try get you to calm down, instead they backed away as your eyes glowed and you stood away from them in the corner.
///
After Chris and Mike took Josh outside, Ashley decided to ask the big question as the three of you returned to the lodge.
“Y/n, what happened to you that summer when you were 16? You changed dramatically, also, what’s with the smell thing and your eyes-”
“Some of my family got into a car accident. You saw it on the news, a lorry ran a red and they were gone. The stress of losing them activated something. Something genetic.”
“Something genetic, what was you talking about?” Sam asked, disbelief laced in her voice as Ashley remembered the story on the news and began to put the pieces together.
“You’re a werewolf.”
You sighed, nodding as you glowed your eyes and flicked your wrist, momentarily revealing your claws.
“Be lucky it’s not a full moon, the anger from the fuckfest that Josh pulled would have revealed it a lot earlier. I’m sorry I never told any of you, I wanted to, but then Beth and Hannah, oh god, if only I wasn’t so pathetic, I could have saved them both.”
“What are you talking about?” Ashley prompted as Sam just frowned, her hand on your shoulder.
“Y/n, you’re not pathetic-”
“I literally had Beth’s wrist in my mouth because I was slipping off the fucking cliff. Something was hunting us that night and someone with a flamethrower was hunting it too. That blood in my mouth I can taste when I remember? It’s Beth’s blood. I pinned my arms into the cliff but it wasn’t enough. I wasn’t enough.” You whimpered, head in your hands as Ashley and Sam stared at each other, realising what had happened.
“I told those two Rangers that they should search the mines. I don’t know what happened after that.” You admitted, tensing as Chris returned.
///
“Let me in! Let me IN!”
“Is that-” Ashley began but Sam cut her off, running to the door.
“It’s Em!”
“Let her in! Quick!” Chris exclaimed, opening the door.
“Shut the door! Oh my god! Shut the door!” Emily yelled as she fell in the doorway, shuffling away from the door as Ashley and Sam helped her up.
“Em, you alright?”
“I didn’t think I’d make it.” Emily admitted, shuffling further into the lodge.
“You were screaming bloody murder.” Chris stated, noticing how you were staring at the door, tilting your head to the side to listen, ignoring the conversations on the couch.
“I was walking in the dark, and I found this pile and there was a head with a Ranger hat on it-”
“No, no, no, no, no-” You perked up then, realising what happened.
“I told those Rangers to search the mines because that’s where I saw Beth and Hannah fall into.”
“What, you saw them fall?” Chris began but Sam had already sprung into action, wrapping her arm around you to calm you down as you hyperventiltated.
“Listen, in the tower, there was a radio and I, I got through to someone, but that was right when the tower collapsed!”
You didn’t hear Mike run in, you were busy using Sam as a comfort blanket, your face pressed into her shoulder.
“Em! You made it!”
“Oh god, Mike-”
You removed your head from Sam’s shoulder when you smelt another scent you knew, darting towards the door before anyone could stop you.
“Y/n, what the fuck-”
///
“You shouldn’t have been so quick to open the door... wait, it’s you.” The Stranger recognised you instantly, but you didn’t react to him, charging at his accomplice as you recognised her.
“Hannah!”
“How did you... oh, you could smell me, couldn’t you?” Hannah replied, noticing how you’d began to cry.
“There’s no time for tears, Y/n, come on.” Hannah coaxed you inside where The Stranger was dealing with Chris and Mike.
“Holy shit-”
“I’m here to tell you what you’re up against on this mountain. You should have never returned. I don’t know why you did after everything last year.” The Stranger grumbled, using his flamethrower to light the fire.
“You mean with Hannah and Beth-”
“I remember you, you were there. You pulled me back from falling off the cliff.” You burst out, leaving everyone to go silent as The Stranger grunted.
“Falling? You were about to jump off the damn cliff.” You feel silent after that, feeling Hannah and Sam stare at you for a moment.
“This mountain belongs to the Wendigo.”
“Who?” Chris asked, sitting up as Sam looked confused. “What’s he talking about?”
“Now I’m only going to tell you this once. It doesn’t matter if you believe me or not. I got reasons I want to... get it off my chest.”
“See I told you-”
Your growl cut Mike off, spooking everyone except Hannah and The Stranger, who didn’t react.
“There is a curse. That dwells in these mountains. Should any man or woman resort to cannabalism in these woods, the spirit of the Wendigo shall be unleashed.”
“Oh crap.” Mike whispered as he remembered what he’d seen earlier in the night.
“You’re going to need to find somewhere safe and keep the werewolf with you if you want any chance of survival.” The Stranger instructed, staring at you as Chris, Emily and Mike looked confused.
“The basement might be okay.” Sam suggested, leaving The Stranger to nod.
“Okay. Get down there, now. All of you. And wait.”
“What? Why? And for how long?” Sam asked, gaining a reply from Hannah and Emily.
“Until dawn.”
“Until dawn.”
“Guys, I ran out and left Josh when I heard screaming.” Mike realised, leaving everyone to look at him in shock.
“Where did you leave him?”
“In the shed.” Mike answered The Stranger’s question, who looked grimly in response.
“Your friend will already be dead-”
“What? Josh? No...” Hannah began, panicking as you stood up, heading to the basement as Chris argued to save Josh.
You were sat on the floor when Sam, Ashley, Mike, Emily and Hannah walked in.
“Hannah, where’s Beth? I know she’s alive, I smelt her scent on Mike.” You stated, leaving Emily to give Mike a warning look as he raised his hands in a confused surrender.
“When you tried to save us, you bit Beth’s arm. She was badly injured in the fall but since it was the full moon the next night, she didn’t die, instead, she turned. She turned into a wolf and hasn’t been able to turn back since. We managed to get out of the mines and ran into Jack, but, I couldn’t go home with Beth like that.” Hannah explained, leaving Mike to realise.
“There were wolves at the Sanatorium.”
You just rolled your eyes at this, wrapping your arms around your knees as Hannah just stared at you.
“Beth’s out there somewhere, I think she smelt something but now that I think about it, I think she smelt you when you arrived with Sammy.” Hannah explained as the others looked through The Stranger’s belongings.
Luckily Hannah had been able to de-escalate a potential situation, explaining that Wendigo bites didn’t turn anyone and that only happened with werewolves and fictional supernatural creatures like vampires and zombies.
“Wait, so Y/n can turn other people into werewolves by biting them?” Emily asked, slightly freaking out as you looked boredly at her.
“You’re not my type, Em. Also I’m not going to go around biting people, I didn’t even know I could do that when I tried to help Beth.”
“Yeah, well, I’m pretty sure that was the only reason Beth survived the fall, Y/n.” Hannah deadpanned, noticing how you were shaking as Sam sat next to you, leaving Ashley to follow as they passed The Stranger’s book back to Hannah.
///
After Mike left to find Josh for the cable car keys, Sam, Chris, Emily and Ash went after him.
You and Hannah stayed behind, much to their reluctance but you knew Beth was out there somewhere.
You didn’t know that Mike had found wolf!Beth and Wolfie when he returned to the Sanatorium, after running from a Wendigo and barricading the door, only wolf!Beth followed Mike down the hole, Wolfie instead deciding to stay behind, safe in the barricaded room.
///
“We should have gone with them.” You admitted, leaving Hannah to sigh.
“I’m sorry Hannah, about everything, I-”
Your apology was cut off as Chris, Emily and Ashley ran through, leaving the two of you to follow as you realised what was happening.
The five of you ran out of the basement, the other three  yelling as you all bumped into Mike and Sam as wolf!Beth had remained outside.
You were all upstairs, attempting to leave the lodge until you spotted the Ranger!Wendigo on the chandelier.
You all froze as the Wendigos began to fight each other, the Ranger!Wendigo winning as Mike and Sam made a plan.
Sam kept the wendigos distracted as Mike broke a bulb, it was only when the Ranger!Wendigo screamed in Sam’s ear that you growled back, gaining it’s attention so it went over to you instead of Sam.
Chris, Emily and Ashley were already out at this point, you had a sick feeling Sam was now deaf in one ear thanks to the screech but you stayed still, leaving the wendigo to shift away from you as Hannah slipped out.
Mike was lingering near the door as the wendigos switched between you and Sam, before you shoved Sam out of the way, shifting to attack the wendigo and send it flying into the Ranger!Wendigo, who killed it.
You shifted back and ran at this point, Mike and Sam were outside when they heard the explosion, seeing your body fly out of the door as you’d hit the switch with your claws.
“Holy-”
“Y/n!”
You’d managed to sit up when something tackled you, a hand on your cheek as you opened your eyes to stare into the eyes of a human Beth Washington, a lot more scruffy than you remembered. You didn’t have much of a chance to stare at her though as she pressed her lips to yours, kissing you roughly.
“Beth! You’re, you’re naked!” You exclaimed as the two of you broke apart, quickly shedding your jacket and hoodie to cover her.
The screech of the Wendigo spirit leaving the burning lodge had you panicking, noticing it almost flying at Sam and Mike as it left the flaming structure.
“Sam!” You shouted, watching as Sam and Hannah ran over, dodging the spirit in the process.
“Beth! Oh my god!”
Everyone stared up at the helicopter hovering over the lodge as you stood in a t-shirt with Beth and Hannah on either side of you, Beth holding your hand tightly as Hannah had a hand on your shoulder.
It was then that you looked over at Mike to ask.
“Mike! What happened to Josh?”
“We have visual. The main structure is completely destroyed, over.”
“Hold on, I’m seeing something. It looks like there are survivors.”
“Let’s pick ‘em up.”
///
The shock finally overtook everyone when you were sat on the helicopters.
You’d zoned out, staring at the floor as Beth and Hannah mourned over what had happened to Josh in the mines.
You stayed zoned out until you were in an interview room and a policeman was trying to ask you questions.
They had to practically pry you away from Beth, the two of you almost growling at the idea before you remembered the police are idiots with guns.
“Y/n, why did you tell those two Rangers to check the mines last year?”
“I saw the twins fall off the cliff down through a hole. I thought they’d find them, even find their bodies but, something went wrong-”
“What’s wrong is you’re interviewing these teenagers without a lawyer present!” The voice was loud enough that the other survivors heard, noticing how Beth had sat up, sniffing the air slightly.
“Another wolf?” Hannah prompted but the question was already answered.
“Dad!”
The others exchanged looks as they heard your voice, not recognising the man as your father as they’d met your other dad instead years ago.
“You’re interrupting the interview, sir-”
“Theo Raeken. Y/n’s father.”
“Y/n’s surname is Dunbar.” the policeman replied, not knowing his mistake as Theo glared at you tensed up.
“Legally, it’s Dunbar-Raeken. this interview is over, all of the recovered victims from Blackwell Mountain should be in hospital, there’s one out there missing fingers and two of the girls out there were reported missing a year ago!” Your father exclaimed, leaving the policeman to just timidly nod, moving to order a hospital transport.
“Hi dad.” You mumbled, tensing as your father looked at you, watching his eyes soften.
“God, you remind me so much of Liam. C’mon, we should help your friends.” Your father replied, offering you his hand.
He smirked as he spotted how you automatically went to Beth, but said nothing, instead chosing to help Mike with Jessica.

I honestly am expecting Klonoa Phantsy Reverie to overshadow pretty much every Pac-Man release from the 2010’s (save for stuff that were F2P or mobile) A question I’ve always feared though is if Pac-Man would become Namco’s equivalent of Alex Kidd, the mascot they killed off once Sonic proved more successful. Because while Klonoa didn’t do well in his hayday, Pac-Man’s been struggling ever since GA. It genuinely feels like the tables have turned and I am kind of concerned as the PMW fan I am…
Namco has done a lot more with Pac-man than they ever have Klonoa. I mean, jeeze, in between the last Klonoa game (on the Wii) and now, we got:
Pac-man Remix (2009) (Mobile)
Pac-man: Championship Edition DX (2010)
Pac-man Party (2010)
Pac-man Arcade Party (2010)
Pac-Match Party (2010) (Mobile)
Pac-man Reborn (2010) (Mobile)
Pac-Chain (2010) (Mobile)
Pac-Attack (2010) (Mobile)
Pac'n-Jump (2011) (Mobile)
Pac-Chomp! (2011) (Mobile)
Pac-man Battle Royale (2011)
Pac-man Kart Rally (2012) (Mobile)
Pac-man: Chomp Mania (2013) (Mobile)
Pac-man and the Ghostly Adventures (2013)
Pac-man Dash! (2013) (Mobile)
Pac-man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 (2014)
Pac-man Museum (2014)
Pac-man Monsters (2014) (Mobile)
Pac-man Friends (2014) (Mobile)
World's Largest Pac-man (2015)
Pac-man Bounce (2014) (Mobile)
Pac-man 256 (2016)
Pac-man Puzzle Tour (2016) (Mobile)
Pac-man Pop! (2016) (Mobile)
Pac-man Hats (2016) (Mobile)
Pac-man: Championship Edition 2 (2016)
Pac-man Hats 2 (2017) (Mobile)
Pac-man Maker (2017) (Mobile)
Pac-man's Pixel Bash (2018)
Pac-man Geo (2020) (Mobile)
Pac-man 99 (2021)
Don't beat yourself up so much. Namco still cares deeply about Pac-man. I mean, in the latest Namco collection they actually released their own homebrew demake of Pac-man Championship Edition that runs on real NES hardware. That wasn't easy and took a lot of genuine dedication.
I don't know if Namco will ever do another Pac-man World game ever again, but I'm sure they'll do something close to it one day, eventually.
On the other hand, I've always got the vibe that Klonoa was never as successful as they wanted, so I don't expect this new collection to take over the world or anything. It's just nice they're finally throwing Klonoa fans a bone.

anon, people like you are the reason why the twins left. You fucking idiots expect them to come back, apologize &/or explain & whatnot but BAAAABE as someone who's been supporting the twins ever since 2015 i can proudly say that i want them to stay off social media if that is what makes them happy. Yes, i am upset too, yes I love them & I want them back in my life & have them upload every tuesday again, BUT IF THEY'RE LIVING THEIR BEST LIVES OFF SOCIAL MEDIA THEN SO BE IT. JEEZ, THIS SHOULD BE THE END OF DISCUSSION.
i am happy that they're happy & honesty they've done SO much for me, I am who i am today because of them. Of course i get this dull feeling in my chest & sadness when I realize they might never come back, but guess whose fault that is? Yours. You're the reason they quit in the first place. You're like "oh well, they're ungrateful blah blah they don't appreciate their fans even though they got them where they are now" bullshit. they do appreciate their true supporters, they are thankful, they love their fans. People who are happy for them, people who have been there for them through thick & thin. The reason they left is because they had to endure so much hatred over the past 7 years. ANYONE WOULD'VE LEFT damnit. & most importantly they don't fight fire with fire, you hate getting ignored or blocked by them but bitch, it's what y'all are thriving for. You sickos.
Y'all fuckers bash them for every little thing they do, y'all bash their friends, family, girlfriends ITS PATHETIC. You're so obsessed, it's embarrassing. You're picking apart every little thing they do because of your own insecurities! Get a life damnit! EVERYONE in this situation would be happy if you people would just shut the fuck up. Jealousy is not cute, neither is obsession. So fuck off. Go get a job or something - or like I said last time, get into plants. It helps. I hope you wake up one day & realize how embarrassing you actually are & how much of a terrible person you are for bashing people you don't even know personally.
& also what the fuck are thinking asking bubba to stop supporting the twins???!😭😭 I've never met anyone who's a bigger fan & supporter of the twins than her! Go find someone else who's very naive & impressionable. Bubba's a grown woman who's made up her mind. Fuck outta here, seriously. This is a blog where I feel safe & happy on. I could've continued my entire day without having to see this type of hatred on my tl. I see it on every other app, don't wanna have it here. You got me fucked up bitch. Call me an ass-kisser if you will, I'll beat yours if I have to.
Sorry for my choice of words bubba, had some built up tension inside of me. love you queen💙
you didn’t come to play & im fucking here for it!! it’s gotten to the point now where those types of people who say shit like that anon, need a fucking reality check pls 😭 it’s pathetic & i really don’t see how it benefits their lives or the twins, in any way shape or form.
i love you pls, makes me so happy you feel comfortable enough & safe enough to open up to me & share your views!🤍

Philadelphia, 2015
To say Sam was nervous would be a gross understatement. Her stomach had been twisted into a perpetual knot for the last week, and it was so bad tonight that she actually felt a little sick. Maybe she should have stayed in. She had a match tomorrow, after all—and it was a big match. A huge match, actually, her first match back on the indies after leaving WWE; and she didn’t feel nearly as prepared for it as she would have liked. Her original opponent had broken her wrist and they’d had to book a replacement at the last minute. She should be at home watching match footage of her new opponent, not out on the town with Chuck.
But Sam knew she wasn’t actually this nervous because they’d changed her opponent. She was nervous because Chuck was taking her to meet his friends. His best friends, as he’d put it.
“What if they hate me,” she whispered to him as they walked down a sidewalk in West Philadelphia. He looked over at her and rolled his eyes.
“They aren’t going to hate you, Sam,” he said with a shake of his head, a small smile pulling at his lips. “I actually think you three are quite similar.”
That piqued her curiosity. “Oh really?” she questioned as seriously as she could, trying to hide the smile that was attempting to make its way onto her face. “How so?”
“Well, you’re all gigantic pains in my ass, for one,” he answered. Sam’s eyes grew and she elbowed him in the ribs, making him wince. “Ow! Not even in town thirty minutes and you already want to fight. It’s nice to see some things never change.”
“Nice to see you’re still an asshole,” she grumbled as she looked down at the pavement below their feet.
Chuck smiled down at her. “Yeah. But I’m your asshole,” he said as he threw his arm around her shoulders. Sam couldn’t help but grin in return.
“Wouldn’t have it any other way, Dusty.”
She leaned into him as they walked, and silence grew between them as her thoughts began to wander again. He wouldn’t tell her who they were meeting—just that they were his friends, fellow wrestlers, and she needed to meet them. She’d tried like hell to get their names from him all last night and again today when she’d finally made it to his place, but his resolve was unwavering. He said he didn’t want her drawing conclusions about them from what she could dig up online before she’d even met them. Which is exactly what she would have done if he’d told her their names. He knew her too well.
“This is it,” Chuck announced as they came to a stop just outside the door of a bar; their bar, as he’d called it. He pulled it open and gestured for her to go first. She stopped just inside to turn around and look up at him.
“Are they here yet?” she asked as he moved to stand beside her.
“No... at least I don’t think they are.” He glanced around as he pulled out his phone. His fingers flew over the screen before he locked it again and looked down at her. “Where do you want to sit?” He tipped his head in the direction of the tables. She just shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t know, where do y’all normally sit?”
His eyes scanned the room again. He led her over to a corner booth and they both sat just as his phone dinged. Sam tried to nosily peek at the screen when he checked it, but he caught her and turned it away so she couldn’t see. She sat back with a hmph.
“They’re a couple blocks away,” he said as he laid the phone screen-down on the table.
Sam sighed and looked down at her hands. The knot in her stomach twisted tighter.
“Hey,” Chuck softly said. “You good?”
She pulled her lips into a tight smile. “Peachy,” she sarcastically returned.
He huffed a laugh and wrapped his arm around her shoulders again. “Thank you for coming.”
Sam couldn’t help herself. “That’s what she said.”
Chuck rolled his eyes. “I really mean it, Samantha!” He gave her a gentle squeeze. “I know you’ve been nervous about this weekend for two months, and this is probably the last place you want to be before your first match back. So thank you for being here.”
He drew small circles on the exposed skin of her shoulder as he spoke. Sam’s stomach gave a little flutter. “Nervous? Me? Please. I don’t have one single nervous bone in my body. And you’re wrong,” she said as she nudged him with her elbow. “I wouldn’t want to spend tonight with anyone else. I know I acted like I didn’t want to come out… but I’m glad I did.”
A smile slowly spread its way across Chuck’s face. “Yeah?” he softly asked. Sam just hummed in agreement.
But to say she was nervous would be an understatement.
* * * * * * * * * *
Alex couldn’t have gotten to the parking garage a minute sooner. She always forgot how long the drive was from Roanoke to Philadelphia until she had to do it again. She got out of her Jeep and let out a satisfied groan as she stretched her legs and back. The sooner she could get a drink in her, the better.
“Alex!”
She whirled around at the sound of her name. A smile tugged at her lips when she spotted Trent walking toward her. She met him halfway and pulled him into an excited hug. “Greggy!”
“Hey,” he said as he gave her a squeeze. “Long time, no see.”
“I know!” She playfully shoved his shoulder as they pulled apart. “You left me for Japan.”
He rolled his eyes with a smile. “How many times do I have to tell you that you should come wrestle over there, too? I know they’d love you.”
Alex felt her cheeks tinge pink and she looked away. “Yeah, yeah,” she returned. “But you know I have my heart set on NXT.”
Trent sighed. “Yeah… I know,” he grudgingly admitted. “And they’d be stupid not to sign you.”
Alex beamed up at him. “Aw. Thanks, Greggy. Actually, I’m wrestling someone tomorrow who used to—”
She was interrupted when they both got a text. Alex glanced down at her phone, already in her hand. It was a message from Chuck in their group chat.
Hurry up, losers, we’re here.
“Jeez,” Trent muttered to himself. Alex bit back a smirk as she watched him type a response. Soon after, her phone sounded with his message.
Alex just got here, we’re at the parking garage.
“Come on, let’s go before we get in trouble,” he said to her as he pushed his phone back into the front pocket of his jeans. Alex grinned, and they fell in step next to each other as they exited the parking garage into the evening air.
“So, do you have any idea who Chuck’s mystery guest is?” she curiously asked as they walked. She knew absolutely nothing about this person who Chuck wanted them to meet, and it had been driving her insane. She didn’t like when things were purposely kept from her—it made her nervous—and she hoped Trent could give her a clue as to the person’s identity.
But, unfortunately, he shook his head. “Nope.”
She let out a frustrated huff. “Why is he being so cloak-and-dagger about it?”
Trent shrugged. “I don’t know.”
“It’s gotta be a girl he’s dating.”
He shot her a look of surprise when she said that. “What?”
“Think about it!” she proclaimed. “Why else would he go through all this trouble to introduce this person to us? Nothing else makes sense.”
That had to be it. Their lives were so intertwined with each other that it was the only logical answer: Dusty had a girlfriend, and he wanted to introduce her to his best friends. But, judging by the look on Trent’s face, he wasn’t so sure.
“I don’t know,” he repeated. "I would know if Chuck was seeing someone. He's my best friend."
Alex’s eyebrows arched. "Ouch."
A corner of his mouth quirked up. "One of my best friends," he amended.
"Better," she nodded. “But I’m telling you, it’s gotta be a girl.”
“Well, we’re about to find out,” he said as they arrived at the bar. He reached for the door and pulled it open, and Alex stepped inside, stopping just inside the entryway so she could look around. She spotted Chuck in a corner booth—and let out a gasp.
“What?” Trent asked as he came to stand next to her.
She grabbed his wrist. “It is a girl,” she whispered with an excited nod toward the booth. They could barely see her side profile, but it was definitely a female sitting with Chuck, with brown hair that fell just past her lightly tanned shoulders. Alex cocked her head, curious. Somehow, she thought she looked familiar. But it didn’t matter. She’d been right.
“I told you Dusty has a girlfriend,” she said with a triumphant grin at Trent. But he didn’t seem to even register what she’d said. He stared straight ahead at the booth, his dark eyes wide and unblinking. Alex squeezed his wrist to get his attention. “Greg.”
“What?” He looked at her as if he’d come out of a daze. She arched a brow.
“You alright?”
He nodded. But the look on his face said otherwise. “Yeah. Go ahead and sit down; I’ll get our drinks. You want your usual?”
He started backpedaling away before she could even answer. “Yeah, thanks,” she returned, and he disappeared toward the bar.
“Oookay,” Alex said to herself. But she ignored Trent’s suddenly strange behavior and made her way toward the booth. Chuck spotted her and waved, a giant grin on his face as he slid out from the booth.
“Dusty!” She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tight. Outside of Adam, Chuck was her best friend on the entire planet. She’d met him and Trent at a PWG show last year, and the rest was history. She couldn’t imagine her world without them now.
“Hey.” He wrapped her up and momentarily lifted her feet from the floor. “How was the drive?”
“Long,” she breathed in response. “I swear it gets longer every time.” She pulled away from him and glanced toward his lady friend, eager to get a better look. And, suddenly, she knew why she looked so familiar.
“One, that’s what she said. And two, Alex, this is—”
“Samantha McKay,” Alex said, cutting Chuck off. “I knew you looked familiar.”
Sam smiled up at her from the booth. “Please, call me Sam,” she insisted in a lilting Southern accent. “And you’re Alex Hawthorne.”
Chuck glanced between them, obviously confused. “You two know each other?”
“Well, not personally,” Alex clarified. “I know her from watching WWE.”
Chuck’s brow furrowed. “Well how do you know Alex, then?” he asked Sam.
She grinned. “Well… we’re actually wrestling each other tomorrow.”
Chuck’s eyes grew wider than Alex had ever seen them. “No shit. You’re Sam’s first opponent back on the indies?”
She nodded, proud of herself. “Guilty as charged.”
Chuck’s smile nearly split his face in two. “Well, what the fuck? I knew I had a good feeling about this!”
Alex couldn’t help but share in his excitement. It was a pretty crazy coincidence that his new friend—girlfriend?—who he’d wanted them to so badly meet just so happened to also be her opponent tomorrow.
But then her brow furrowed with a thought. “Well then you must know—”
“Greg!” Chuck proclaimed. “I was wondering where the hell you were.”
“I went ahead and got our drinks,” Trent returned as he appeared next to Alex. He handed her an amber-colored beer. She accepted it with a smile.
“Thanks, Greggy.”
He gave her a tight smile. And then he looked at Sam. Sam stared back, noticeably tenser than she’d been a few seconds ago. Alex glanced curiously between them.
“I was just about to say that you must know Chuck’s new friend,” she said to Trent.
“Shit, I didn’t even think about that,” Chuck realized. “Were you two in WWE at the same time?”
Trent nodded. “Yeah, we were.”
Alex’s eyes flicked back to Sam. She nodded in agreement and took an awkward sip of her drink.
“Well, this is perfect, then!" Chuck proclaimed, completely oblivious to the shift in the atmosphere. He was too excited. "Sam and Alex are wrestling each other tomorrow, too! How crazy is that?”
Trent pressed his mouth into a thin line. “Pretty crazy,” he stiffly returned. But again, Chuck didn’t notice as he sat back down in the booth. Alex started to sit next to him—but Trent grabbed her hip and gently pushed her to sit next to Sam instead. She sent him a questioning look as they both slid into the booth, but he ignored it, keeping his expression blank. Stoic.
Alex took a drink of her beer. There was weird energy between Trent and Sam; she could sense it. And she had a feeling she knew exactly what it was about.
* * * * * * * * * *
How long did it take to walk two blocks? The knot in Sam’s stomach grew more and more painful with each passing second and her thoughts were going a mile a minute. What if Chuck had brought her here to introduce her to a girl he liked? No, that couldn’t be it. She could read him like a book, and that wasn’t the vibe she was getting. But the fact that he refused to tell her anything… it definitely made her wonder.
She glanced at the bar. Chuck had gone to get their drinks—and he’d left his phone on the table. She stared at it, tempted. Was his password still the same?
But before she could pick it up and try, her phone rung in her pocket. She shifted in her seat and reached behind her to pull it out. A picture of Orange Cassidy lit up the screen, his face flushed and drunk. Chuck had sent it to her back when they’d been in China and she’d immediately set it as her contact photo for Jim. She smiled as she answered the call.
“Hiya, Clementine,” she practically sang into the phone. Orange chuckled on the other end of the line.
“Hey. Are you with Dustin?”
Sam’s eyebrows furrowed as she glanced over to the bar where Chuck still stood waiting for their drinks. “Yeah… Why?”
“Tell him I’m going to be a little late.”
Her face scrunched further in confusion. “Late to what?” she asked. It prompted a sigh on the other end of the line.
“He didn’t tell you, did he?”
Sam’s frustration grew as she looked back at the bar again. Chuck turned around, two drinks in hand. And then it clicked.
“You’re coming tonight!” she excitedly proclaimed.
Orange laughed. She already knew what he was thinking.
“Yeah, I know. That’s what she said,” she smiled. But then her eyes widened. “Hey, if you’re gonna be here tonight, then do you know who else—"
Before she could finish her sentence, Chuck set their drinks on the table and abruptly snatched her phone from her hand.
“Hey! That’s my fucking phone!” she proclaimed. But he just grinned and held it up to his ear.
“Jim? Hey.” He paused, listening as Orange spoke on the other end. “Yeah, I took her phone,” he said with a look at Sam. She glared back at him. “Okay, we’ll see you when you get here.”
He hung up and handed her back her phone. She snatched it from him. “Asshole,” she muttered.
“Sorry,” he apologized. “You know he would have told you.”
“Yeah,” she groused. “I know.” She grabbed her glass off the table and took a sip of the mixed drink. Chuck looked at her out of the corner of his eye and started to say something—but then his attention was drawn to the door. A giant smile lit up his entire face as he stood from the booth and waved. Sam froze. His friends were here, whoever they were. But before she could turn around to look, someone launched themselves at Chuck and pulled him into a hug.
“Dusty!”
Sam looked up. It was a girl. Long dark brown hair fell down her back as Chuck squeezed her tightly and picked her up off the ground. Sam swallowed a lump in her throat as the two of them talked, getting lost in her thoughts again. But then the girl turned around, and Sam’s eyes went wide with recognition.
“Alex, this is—”
“Samantha McKay,” the girl said with the slightest Southern drawl. It was her. “I knew you looked familiar.”
“Please, call me Sam,” Sam said with a smile. “And you’re Alex Hawthorne.”
Chuck’s face screwed up in confusion. “You two know each other?” he asked as he looked between them.
“Well, not personally. I know her from watching WWE,” Alex clarified as she looked back at him.
“Well how do you know Alex, then?” he asked Sam.
She grinned, happy that Chuck was finally the one who didn’t have a clue. “Well… we’re actually wrestling each other tomorrow.”
His eyes grew wide as saucers. “No shit.” He turned to look at Alex again. “You’re Sam’s first opponent back on the indies?”
She nodded proudly. “Guilty as charged,” she confirmed. The look on Chuck’s face was priceless. Shock mixed with genuine happiness.
“Well, what the fuck? I knew I had a good feeling about this!” A huge smile broke out on his face, making Sam chuckle as she watched him. His excitement was practically radiating off of him as he looked between the two of them. But when Sam looked over at Alex, she found her brow furrowed in confusion.
“Well then you must know—”
But before she could finish her sentence, someone walked up behind her, catching Chuck and Sam’s attention both. “Greg! I was wondering where the hell you were.”
Sam’s stomach dropped and her face blanched. Greg? Trent? She blinked, but the person she saw standing next to Alex didn’t change. It was him. Her ex. She was absolutely beside herself.
She reached for her drink with a shaky hand as Trent spoke. “I went ahead and got our drinks.” She saw him hand Alex a beer out of the corner of her eye.
“Thanks, Greggy,” she smiled. Sam choked as she swallowed. Was Trent with Alex?
“I was just about to say that you must know Chuck’s new friend,” Alex said with a curious glance at him. Sam sat up straighter, putting the pieces together. Clearly, neither Alex nor Chuck knew that she and Trent used to sleep with each other. And Alex might be sleeping with him now, she thought. Great.
“Shit, I didn’t even think about that,” Chuck piped up, pulling Sam back out of her thoughts. “Were you two in WWE at the same time?”
He looked between Sam and Trent. Trent answered first. “Yeah, we were.” His voice was devoid of any emotion as he spoke. It stung Sam, more than she would have expected it to. She tried to ignore it as she nodded and took a long sip of her drink. She could feel Alex watching her.
“Well, this is perfect, then!” Chuck giddily proclaimed. He looked at Trent. “Sam and Alex are wrestling each other tomorrow, too! How crazy is that?”
Sam dared to look at Trent. He stiffened. “Pretty crazy,” he said, just as monotonously as before.
But Chuck was too overcome with excitement to notice how unenthused Trent seemed to be in her presence. He sat down on the opposite side of the booth and Sam slouched, painfully aware of everyone’s movements. Alex started to sit next to Chuck—but Trent deliberately nudged her to sit next to her instead. It shouldn’t have bothered her, but it did. Alex scooched in next to her and Sam looked down, fidgeting with a string on the hem of her shirt. She felt someone nudge her leg underneath the table. She looked up and saw Chuck watching her with that beaming smile of his. She returned it as best she could.
She reached for her drink again. The tension in the air was palpable. She knew Alex felt it too—she could tell by the suspicious look on her face that she did. But at least Chuck was oblivious.
She wondered how long that would last.

FAMILY TIES !
Tumblr media
SUMMARY :: In which Jinhwan's life takes a turn when he finds out the truth about his father. CHARACTERS :: Jang Jinhwan, Jang Jinhee, Maisie Park, Della Jang WORDS :: 3.3K WARNINGS ::  implied infidelity, family issues, implied sexual content, fighting, yelling, drinking ( if i missed anything let me know ! )
2015 !
Jinhwan wasn’t sure when the bitterness started to set on every time his father would come and visit, though he knew that it was one of the more recent developments. His father was something like an enigma to him, though it wasn’t like he really got to know much about the man that would show up on their doorstep whenever he was in town, leaving just after getting everyone’s hopes up. Maybe the bitterness set in when he was finally old enough to read his father’s patterns, maybe it was the protectiveness that he felt over his mother and sister that set it off.
Ever since Jinhwan was little he had been protective of Jinhee, even if she was ten minutes older than him. Jinhee was too kind, too optimistic, and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt, it was only natural for Jinhwan to want to protect her, to make sure her fragile heart didn’t get broken. It was no surprise that Jinhee, sweet and kind Jinhee, would get excited and giddy whenever their father was in town, hoping this would be the time he actually stayed. Every time, Jinhwan was left to pick up the pieces of Jinhee’s broken heart in their small shared bedroom, under the nightlights, careful to not let their mother see. Maybe Jinhwan knew when the bitterness set in, and maybe it was after he was left to pick up the pieces of a broken family who hoped for something more every time, and every time got disappointed yet again.
Jinhwan wasn’t surprised when his father showed up again just after his and Jinhee’s birthday, just a year and a few days after the last time he had walked out, going back to whatever life he lived without them. Jinhee had been ecstatic when their father showed up, a set of high end makeup for her, and a PS4 for Jinhwan in his hands, like one gift would make up for all the time pushed them to the side. Jinhwan, on the other hand, had been sitting on the couch, glaring at the way his mom and Jinhee hung onto every word of their father’s travels, things that Jinhwan were sure never even happened. He could see them get pulled into their father’s orbit once again, falling back into the feelings they said was over the last time he walked out on them.
Jinhwan, at only fifteen and a few days, wanted nothing more than to go up to their father and tell him to leave, but he knew his mother would be upset. He couldn’t stand the little sparkle in his mother’s eyes as she looked at their father, the only man she ever truly loved, as she had mentioned right after he left the last time, her mind full of the alcohol she drank to forget the pain that night, not sure of the words coming out of her mouth. Jinhwan had almost cried with her that night, but he held strong, helping his mother to bed that night before venturing into his and Jinhee’s shared room, which fared no better. The gifts their dad left them were strewn across the floor, Jinhee left laying on her bed, her cover pulled up over her head, but that didn’t stop Jinhwan from hearing the faint sniffles coming from her side of the room. That was the worst of his father leaving and he vowed from that day that he wouldn’t let this man ruin their lives again.
He knew there wasn’t much he could do, other than sit back and wait for their father to finally leave again. It hurt knowing that no matter what, his family would get hurt. Jinhwan sighed, pulling himself off the couch, at least if his mother and sister were fawning over the man in front of them, he didn’t have to be around to see it. He made his way through the small apartment, into the kitchen where he wanted to get a glass of water. Jinhwan shuffled his way into the room, kicking his father’s jacket along the way, his small brown wallet falling out of it and sliding across the tiled floor. Of course, he thought with a sigh, leaning down to pick up the cursed object, a small piece of paper falling out as he did so. Jinhwan reached out, his hands curling around what looked to be a small worn picture that had fallen. The picture held three people, all gathering around a camera for a selfie. One was Jinhwan’s father, who had his arm around an older woman, leaning in to kiss her on the cheek, the last girl looked much younger, smiling brightly into the camera where she was taking the picture.
He has another kid. The thought flooded his mind immediately, looking at how the younger girl, who couldn’t be much older than Jinhwan himself, looked like a perfect mix of his father and the other woman.  He felt his stomach dropped as he flipped the picture over, looking at the neat scribbling on the back.
Dad! Make sure you keep this with you at all times when you’re gone, we don’t want you forgetting what we look like! Love, you favorite (and only) daughter, Della!
Jinhwan let out a shaky breath, putting the picture away in the wallet and tucking it carefully into the jacket it had fallen out of. He knew his dad was a piece of shit, but he didn’t expect him to have a full double life. He knew in his mind he had to tell them, even if it broke their heart. He couldn’t let his mother and his sister fawn over this man that only had them in a quarter of his.
He set his jaw, walking through the winding hallways of the old apartment, into his shared room. He would tell Jinhee when she came to bed tonight, he couldn’t ruin their fun now, not right in front of their father. Though, when Jinhee walked through the door that night, the light sparkle she got in her eyes whenever she so much as thought about their father was very much present, Jinhwan knew he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t be the one to break her heart like that.

2018 !
Jinhwan wasn’t sure what possessed him to sneak into Jinhee’s dorm that night, but he knew he could never say no to his sister when she was feeling a bit down. He had snuck past the rest of the girls in her dorm many times before, careful to keep himself out of the sight of the manager who lived in the dorm with them. It was a practiced science he was used to.
Jinhee was curled up on the top of her bed, her eyes still red from crying over some guy who didn’t deserve to even have had a chance with his sister. She was focused on the small computer in front of her playing some new Mnet survival show that Jinhwan had no intention of paying any attention to. Anything to keep his sister happy.
The show was slow, much like many other survival shows that Jinhwan couldn’t even bear to watch, and it relied on far too much drama to even make any sense of what was going on. Jinhwan was just glad that Banana Culture wasn’t putting them through a stupid survival show for their debut, he’s not sure he could have stood that.
Jinhee, on the other hand, loved the drama. She was always watching over dramatic shows and she watched any survival show she could get her hands on. Jinhwan’s almost surprised he didn’t get herself on some sort of survival show, just so she could live out the drama herself.
“She's really pretty,” Jinhee spoke, mostly to the room at this point, probably being able to tell that Jinhwan was paying little attention to the show in front of them.
Jinhwan snapped his head up from where he was staring at his hands, catching a glimpse of the girl that Jinhee was talking about. She was lanky and tall, her hair cut in a short dark bob, which really showed off her facial structure. The girl might have been the prettiest girl Jinhwan had ever seen, and at the ripe age of seventeen, Jinhwan had seen lots of pretty girls.
Movement in the corner of the screen caught his eye, and he looked over at the girl that was sitting next to the pretty goddess he could barely take his eyes off of. His heart skipped a beat as he looked straight at the girl he had seen once before. It wasn’t like he had seen the girl in passing at school, which happened to quite a few of these girls that were wandering around the screen. No, Jinhwan had only seen that face once before, three years ago. That was the face of their father’s other daughter.
“Who are these guys?” Jinhwan asked, his eyes still locked on the screen, not being able to tear them away from the girl that is his sister.
“Why does Jinhwan have a little crush?” she nudged him. “Honestly, she’s a bit out of your league, but-”
“Jinhee, who are they?” he cut her off, and maybe if it was any other day he would have felt bad about it, but today he couldn’t care less.
“Jeez, okay,” Jinhee put her hand up in mock surrender. “They’re the KQ trainees, Jinri, Maisie, and Della. We don’t know much about them but they’re about to actually perform.”
Jinhwan just nodded, but said nothing else. Della was here, she was in Korea and far too close to home. He had barely thought about her since the last time their father had walked out on them. He watched the rest of the episode, unable to keep his eyes away from his sister every time she came across the screen.
Tumblr media
2020 !
Jinhwan wasn't sure how things fell into place. Maisie was basically everything he had hoped for when he had seen her on Produce 48, trying his best to gauge the personality of Della. He would never admit it, but Maisie was the reason he kept watching even after Della was eliminated.
Jinhwan hadn’t expected anything to happen between him and Maisie when they ran into each other backstage at a music show. They hadn’t talked long, Maisie having to rush off and perform, but they kept running into each other again and again. Jinhwan still remembered the way that his eyes bugged out of his head when Maisie had asked him out on the last day of their promotions together, though it wasn’t as bad as the way Jinhee’s jaw dropped when Jinhwan had told her about it.
‘There’s no way someone like her asked someone like you out! You have to be lying!’ she had said, hitting his arms light enough that he could barely feel it, though that might have been due to him feeling like he was on cloud nine at that moment.
Maisie was perfect, all except for one thing. Della. Jinhwan knew what he was getting into when he started dating someone who was slated to be in the same group as his new sister, but he hadn’t expected them to be best friends. Della, for some reason, also knew how to call at just the most inopportune time.
Which left Jinhwan laying back on his bed, his whole body flushed with the way Maisie had been hovering over him just minutes before when her phone started ringing. His girlfriend had taken the call right away, telling Jinhwan that she would be back soon, but Della had just gone on a date that night and she needed to be on call. Jinhwan wasn’t mad, in fact he thought it was sweet that Maisie cared so much about her friends, but he was annoyed that it was Della of all people. Jinhwan wanted to push Della to the back of his mind and forget about her, just like how he did once all those years ago.
“Okay, Dells, I’ll talk to you later,” he heard his girlfriend say from the other side of the room he shared with Donghan. He didn’t look over, but he could practically feel Maisie glancing over at him every second. “Bye.”
Jinhwan kept his eyes trained on the ceiling as he heard Maisie’s footsteps across the room. Her leg swung over his body in a matter of seconds, straddling the younger man, quickly leaning down to press a quick kiss to his lips.
“Now, where were we?” she smiled, leaning back down to kiss him again. Jinhwan let his hands travel up her bare sides, trying to put his mind back into where it was before the phone call had interrupted them, though his mind kept wandering.
“How’s Della?” he asked suddenly, looking up at the ceiling again as Maisie started to kiss down his jaw.
He felt her still, looking up at the younger with a raised eyebrow. “You want to talk about Della while you’re half hard?”
Jinhwan didn’t answer, he just continued to stare at the ceiling, annoyed that his brain wouldn’t let him enjoy one of the few moments he can spend with his girlfriend. Maisie waited a second, but she didn’t get a reply she sighed, leaning back.
“What’s up with you? Every time I so much as mention Della you get this weird look on your face like you’re constipated or something.” Jinhwan finally looked over at his girlfriend, only to see a confused look on her face. “And I know you don’t actually know her because I asked her, so spill.”
Jinhwan sighed, wondering how he was going to explain this to his girlfriend, who he had only been dating for a few months at this point. He didn’t want Maisie to have to be in the center of whatever weird shit he had going on with Della, but he also didn’t want to keep secrets from her.
“Della’s my sister,” Jinhwan blurted out, looking anywhere but Maisie’s eyes. “Well, half-sister, we share a dad and nobody else knows but me.”
“Oh,” she said quietly, her voice small, almost like she didn’t mean for the words to come out.
They stayed quiet for a bit, Jinhwan biting his lip waiting for any sort of response, and Maisie processing the words that Jinhwan had just said.
“So, you and Della are siblings?” she finally said after minutes of sitting in silence. Jinhwan just nodded in reply. “And she has no idea that you two are siblings?” another nod. “How did you even find out?”
“I saw a picture of her in my father’s wallet a few years ago when he came to visit.”
Maisie nodded but stayed quiet again, looking around the room and biting her lip lightly. Jinhwan knew she had something she wanted to say, but she was second guessing herself.
“Were-” she started, cutting herself off like she was thinking better of the words she was about to ask, then she closed her eyes and sighed lightly. “Were you only with me to get closer to Della?”
“What?” Jinhwan shot up, sitting face-to-face with Maisie, who was looking anywhere but Jinhwan’s face. “No, of course not. In fact, I half wish you weren’t so close to Della so I could forget all of this even existed.” his words didn’t seem to make Maisie feel any better, with the awkward look on her face. “Look, Maisie, I love you so much and I really don’t want to have to put you in the middle of this situation because she’s your best friend, but I didn’t feel like it was fair to keep it from you.”
Maisie smiled a bit, wrapping her arms around Jinhwan’s neck. “I also don’t think it’s fair for you to keep it from Della either.”
Jinhwan sighed, shaking his head. “I haven’t even told my own sister, I don’t think it would be fair for me to go up to a girl I don’t even know and ruin her whole family.”
“Is it fair to let her keep thinking her father is the best person in the world when he had a whole double life going on?”
Jinhwan bit his lip, but didn’t reply.
Maisie let out a small sigh. “Look, it’s up to you, it’s your family, but that’s what I think.”
Jinhwan just nodded, leaning forward to hug his girlfriend tightly, not wanting to think about any of this anymore.

2021 !
Jinhwan bit his lip nervously, looking across the small room that he recognized so well. He hadn’t been to Jinhee dorm for a while, the older girl had been working hard on the final preparations for their debut and she was far more excited about that then spending time with her brother.
“Hwannie, guess what?” she bounced around the room, going no particular place.
“Hmm,” he contemplated, looking up to the bottom of the bunk on top of her’s. “You tripped on your way out of the practice room and everyone just stared and laughed at you.”
“What? No.” Jinhee gave him a confused look, before she went back to her bouncing. “I texted Dad about my debut coming up and he responded saying he was proud of me!”
Jinhwan tried to smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes and Jinhee could tell in a second. “Oh, come on Jinhwan! I know you don’t really like Dad, but it was nice that he actually responded!”
“Jinhee, I need to tell you something about Dad,” he sighed, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees.
“No, you’re not ruining the first thing I’ve heard from Dad in months, I-”
“Dad has another kid!” Jinhwan blurted out, knowing if he left it any longer, he would chicken out.
Jinhee’s face dropped, looking back at her brother with wide eyes, which already looked like they were filling up with tears. He cursed himself for bringing it up so carelessly with Jinhee’s sweet, fragile heart. “What?” her voice was small and quiet, filled with many emotions Jinhwan hadn’t felt about this situation in a while.
“Dad has another kid, and a whole other family,” he shrugged, not being able to look Jinhee in the eyes.
“How do you know?” Jinhwan knew Jinhee didn’t want to believe it, she didn’t want to believe the man she looked up to could be anything like this.
“I found a picture of her in his wallet when he came to visit a few years ago,”
“A few years ago?” she questioned, her voice now angry. “You knew for years and you didn’t think to tell me? Not even all of those times when he left and I was upset about it?”
“I didn’t want to pile onto the hurt you were already feeling and every time he left I was hoping he would never come back!” he countered, looking up to see his sister’s angry face. The one he had only seen during the times that they were fighting when they were younger.
“Get out,” she said, her voice dangerously quiet and low. “I don’t want to see you right now.”
Jinhwan just sighed, knowing he needed to let his sister calm down. He got up from the bed and made his way to the door before turning around to look at his sister one last time.
“By the way,” he started, seeing his sister's teary eyes meet his. “Dad’s other kid is Della, the one from Blue Moon.”
He didn’t wait to see her response, knowing she was going to be even more mad that it was someone that they knew over. He let himself out of the room, giving her all the time she needed. He knew her and he knew she would call by tomorrow anyway.

Listed: Guardian Singles
Tumblr media
Guardian Singles converged in Auckland in 2015, around a core of guitarist/vocalist Thom Burton and drummer (and ex-Vivian Girl) Fiona Campbell, building a reputation through live shows for raucous, melodic punk rock. Jennifer Kelly heard nods to the Clean, Mission of Burma, the Feelies and Wire on the band’s debut self-titled album released internationally on the Trouble In Mind Label in July. However, she concluded, “This is a band that sounds like the best parts of lots of other bands, but crucially, it also sounds like itself. There’s a core of Guardian Singles-ness that makes these songs impossible to dismiss as homage and able to stand up on their own.” Here Thom Burton lists some of his favorite music for Dusted.
Kia ora, my name is Thom, I play guitar and sing in the band Guardian Singles. Here’s a list of ten songs I've been moderately obsessed with recently — in no particular order. Not by any stretch “all-time favourites” thing... that would just be a bunch of Tik Toks of me crying and listening to Slint. Anyway, this is what I’m currently “straight vibin’ to.” As the kids say.
Actress — “Leaves Against the Sky”
youtube
From the Karma and Desire album that came out last year. My favourite release of his for a few years, even though they’re all pretty amazing. My friend saw him play with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and said it was almost a religious experience.
Andy Stott — “Never the Right Time”
youtube
Andy Stott’s music is kind of out there on its own for me… the same way that I think that some people listen to classical music because it can make you feel like anything you’re doing is important? I’m not though, I’m just sitting here thinking about soup. It’s strangely familiar and alien at the same time (the music not the soup). But yeah, this record (and song) is gorgeous. I think Andy Stott could make the sound of someone doing handbrake drifts on a forklift in an aircraft-carrier hangar sound like a choir of angels.
박혜진 Park Hye Jin — “Y DON’T U (feat. Clams Casino & Take A Daytrip)”
youtube
In my mind I’m sexy dancing to this by myself in some “futuristic” club somewhere. By futuristic I mean that the wait staff wear rollerblades and there’s a mezzanine floor. Anyway, I asked my Kiwi/Korean friend if she would kindly translate the lyrics for me and she said (and I quote) “What is this? I HATE THIS. It doesn't even make sense.” And I’m like “that’s cool, I’ll just let you get back to listening to My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins, all good, sorry to bother you,” (lol sorry Maria).
Sweeping Promises — “Out Again”
Hunger for a Way Out by Sweeping Promises
From their fantastic album Hunger For a Way Out — I found out about them via Gonerfest last year, and I can't stop listening to this record. Really, it’s becoming a bit of a problem. The production is crispy and filthy, the songs are catchy AF. I wouldn’t be surprised if these guys blow up huge. Wish I could catch them live at this year’s Gonerfest. Go see them if you can.
P-Model — “Holland element”
youtube
A good friend of mine makes these great playlists called “The Tinny Mission” on Spotify (“tinny” is NZ slang for 20 bucks worth of weed, often covered in fly spray). The idea is that you borrow your Mum’s Honda Civic, drive around Hamilton (the greatest city in NZ) all night looking for somewhere or someone to score one off, but you never do. In the meantime, you’ve listened to hours of genre-less awesome tunes. This song was on the last mix he made. It sounds like it could have come out last week, but it didn’t. Just casually dropped 37 years ago.
Belong — “Perfect Life”
Common Era by Belong
This from the album Common Era by a brilliant New Orleans band that I think broke up in 2011, around about the time this came out. There doesn’t seem to be too much info about them online. If you don’t get all the feels from this then you are dead on the inside (sorry I hate it when people say shit like that, but you are). There’s probably about as much chance of Kranky records reissuing this as there is of me starting an Onlyfans, but it doesn’t mean you can’t listen to this in the car at the beach on a stormy day and wonder where it all went wrong.
Yves Tumor — “Crushed Velvet”
youtube
When they’re not getting bit on the neck by crazed fans or levelling venues in Shanghai with extreme noise terror [no link for that one, my friend was there and just told me it was scary as…] Yves Tumor sometimes makes romantic motoric-tinged tunes like this one. This song is my favourite of what I’ve heard of the new-new stuff, but I still reckon Serpent Music is boss.
Cindy — “Justin”
I'm Cindy by Cindy
If I DID have a “shrine” or “wall of appreciation of photos of people I like” in my basement, I would probably be listening to this song while I added glitter and locks of hair to it. I’m not saying I do, I just… I mean that’s the first thing that popped into my head. You can find more info on the artist here.
Yu Su — “Xiu”
youtube
I’ve already talked random so far, so I’ll just say this is a very, very pretty, wavy banger that has a really beautiful subtle guitar going through it. Love heart emoji eyes etc.
Night Lunch — “House full of Shit”
youtube
Jeez — got this far with nothing from Aotearoa! We’ve played a couple of shows with these guys, hopefully we get to do more. They are very nice young men, and they sound evil. Also, the video is priceless.

Thank you for sending your request, too!!! You can send one again, too! Just use the format "word + SVT member" (which we strictly follow haha) and we promise to deliver! ❤
I mentioned Sam Okyere here, an amazing man who doesn't deserve the hate he receives from racist people in and out of South Korea. If you do not know what'a happening to him, please read about it here.
Word Count: 830+
. . .
“I’m coming, I’m coming!!!” Seungcheol bounded across the room and jumped onto the couch, his face all red as he kept typing furiously on his phone.
"Hyung, the show is about to begin!!! Guys, it's on now," Mingyu declared. It was their rest day at the dorms, and they were anticipating all morning for Sam Okyere's morning show to come out on TV.
They've been longtime fans of Sam Okyere, but this morning, they weren't just waiting for Sam Okyere himself to appear onscreen.
Giggling like teenagers, the boys filed into the living room and scrambled onto whatever couches or chairs they could find around the massive television set. Seungkwan and Chan bickered about who gets to sit closer to the TV. Mingyu frantically planted a leg on the place beside him. “Seungcheol-hyung! Jeez, where is that guy?”
“What are you doing? The show’s about to start!”
“I know! And I’m documenting that I’m about to watch it.” Seungcheol kept typing on his phone. Every now and then he would be hitting Mingyu on the shoulder or he would hug him close as he did his best to release pent-up excitement. “SHE’S ABOUT TO COME OUT!!! Wait, should I video this? Like record it? Or do I just watch? What do I do? I can’t. I’m too excited I just can’t—”
“—Ouch.” Mingyu drew back from Seungcheol, annoyed and massaging his poor shoulder. “You have a Twitter account just for stanning her?”
“She’s my ultimate crush, Mingyu.” Seungcheol looked at Mingyu with besotted eyes. “My ultimate crush. And, actually, I have two Twitter accounts for her. Then an Insta. Snappy. The works. Everything.”
“Crazy,” Mingyu muttered, suddenly scared as he thought of Seungcheol snooping around TWT and Instagram with secret fan accounts.
“I’m president of one of her fanbases, too!” Seungcheol declared with bleary eyes and a voice full of emotion as he briefly showed Mingyu his phone. “This is how much I stan her.”
“You’re crazy,” Mingyu declared in his adorable English, shaking his head, before turning away.
“What are we doing?” Jisoo asked, laughing as he caught himself also participating in the rush to the couches. “Why are we acting like teenage boys?” Even as he slapped Jeonghan’s legs away from the spot that he wanted to squeeze himself into, he added as he shook his head, “Why are we like this?”
Even though Jisoo knew the answer and he was just voicing out his thoughts, everyone answered (and not without sassiness in their voices), “Duh.” “Did you really have to ask that, hyung?”
“The host is about to announce her!!!”
“I’m going to faint, I’m going to faint,” Seungcheol muttered to himself as he shakily zoomed the camera in on the TV.
“Hello, everyone!!!”
At the sound of your voice, everyone in the room started screaming, covering their blushing faces.
“She hasn’t even sung yet and we’re all going crazy,” Chan lamented, leaning on Hansol as he did so. “How is she that pretty onscreen? And she doesn’t look like she’s wearing too much makeup, either.”
Seungcheol dried his eyes, which were tearing up as he collected his emotions while videoing everything that was going on the screen. “She’s so beautiful,” he gushed adoringly, “so beautiful.”
. . .
“Now that we’ve finished talking about your concert, I’d just like to ask if it’s your first time coming here to South Korea, or have you visited before?” the host, a cheerful, beautiful man named Sam, asked you brightly.
You laughed self-consciously and nodded. “Yes, I’ve been here before! Actually, I come here almost every year since 2015. I wasn’t as big a singer then yet, so I had more freedom coming in and out of the country. I love this country. Feels like home to me! I stay here for about two weeks, tops, after concerts—” you stop in your tracks, your hand flying to your mouth.
Sam wiggled his eyebrows comically. “A concert? Which group? There are a lot of groups here! And we’re so glad that you go to one—or two?”
“One,” you acknowledged, blushing a crimson red and smiling. “Just one. But I do know a lot of groups, though. It’s just that I’m an avid fan of this particular group…” you debated revealing which group it was, and you kept laughing with Sam because you have been outed.
“Can you tell us which one?”
“Of course!” you answered, smiling at the camera. “SEVENTEEN, if you are watching this, I just hope you know that I’m your biggest fan and I love you guys!” You hesitated, before adding, as your face turned very red but very happy, “Especially you, Choi Seungcheol!”
. . .
As everyone watched the screen, they were dumbstruck.
Slowly, the twelve boys looked to their leader, who had dropped his phone on the floor the moment he heard you say those words. Seungcheol’s mouth hung open, his eyes so wide and so sparkly that it looked like the flecks of light on his eyes would jump out like stars.
“Especially. Me?”
“She probably doesn’t know what she’s saying,” Jeonghan commented calmly but with venomous intent, as he playfully glared at his friend. “She’s probably jet-lagged. We say crazy things when we're jet-lagged."
Soonyoung turned to Seungcheol, his adorable, tiny eyes narrowing glaringly. “I am such a hater.”
“Especially me.”
Seungcheol couldn’t breathe.
“Especially me.”

Self care is visiting your own grave
my inability to write actual titles continues short drabble about Ben and Jeff bonding and talking about life, or in Ben’s case, afterlife. Very light jeffben themes but for the most part it’s just guys being dudes.
Word Count: 1504
‘’Where are you taking me?’’ Jeff asked as he followed after Ben. The shorter blonde boy glanced over his shoulder at him, his blue eyes shining brightly despite the shadow his hood cast over his face.
‘’Somewhere really special.’’ he said. ‘’I can trust you with it, right?’’
Jeff shrugged. ‘’I mean- I think you can,’’ he tilted his head. ‘’Maybe if you told me where we were going I’d-’’ he stopped, backing up to avoid walking into Ben who had abruptly stopped walking. He turned his head to look at the building next to them. Confused, Jeff turned his head and stared in surprise. It was...a flower shop. He frowned.
‘’Wait here.’’ Ben said softly before walking into the store. Jeff squinted as the blonde disappeared inside, then walked over to the shop’s window. He glared in through the glass and watched Ben ever so gently pick up a small bundle of flowers. Ben paid for the flowers, then stepped out. Without a word he began walking down the street again. Jeff followed him. He frowned.
‘’Are you taking me to see some chick?’’ he asked. Ben’s head snapped to look at him.
‘’Ew! No!’’ he looked disgusted. ‘’No, it’s not some girl.’’ he let out a frustrated huff and glared at Jeff.
‘’Geez, no need to be so defensive.’’ Jeff murmured, holding up his hands defensively. ‘’So who’re the flowers for, Romeo?’’
‘’They’re not for anyone.’’ Ben replied. ‘’Just- wait til we get there. It’s easier to explain when you see it.’’
Jeff nodded slowly and went quiet, just walking alongside Ben instead. They eventually reached their apparent destination. A...graveyard. Ben didn’t say a word, just walked in through the iron gates and began walking between the graves. Jeff looked around suspiciously. He looked at Ben.
‘’...did you kill someone?’’
‘’Dude-’’ Ben shot him a look. ‘’Why would I kill somebody?’’
‘’I dunno. You felt like it?’’
Ben rolled his eyes. Jeff put his hands in his pockets. Eventually they reached a small, secluded grave near the back of the cemetery. Ben knelt down in front of it and pulled aside a few weeds that had started to spring up from the ground. A small, blue china vase sat in front of the gravestone. A few wilted flowers sat in it. Ben pulled out the wilted flowers and gently placed in his new ones. He sat back on his knees, pulled off his hood and closed his eyes. Jeff hesitated, then knelt down beside him. He looked from Ben to the grave, then back at Ben.
‘’Are uh…’’ he gulped. ‘’Are you like- praying-?’’
‘’Yes.’’ Ben’s eyes didn’t open. ‘’You don’t have to do it. Just gimme a minute, okay?’’
Jeff nodded and looked back at the grave. It looked oddly well cared for. Absently, he wondered if Ben was the one that looked after it, or if it was someone else’s work. He looked at the gravestone, reading the name on it.
‘Benjamin Lawman. Beloved grandson. 2003 - 2015.’
Benjamin...a twelve year old boy. Jeff glanced at Ben. Benjamin- Ben...Ben was fourteen. And this kid had died two years ago, so-
‘’Is this...your grave?’’ Jeff asked, a tone of disbelief in his voice. Ben nodded and finally opened his eyes, looking over at Jeff. ‘’What- what the fuck?’’ he breathed. ‘’Why did you take me to see your own grave?’’
‘’This is where I come to collect my thoughts.’’ He replied, a hint of sadness in his voice. He looked down. ‘’I wanted to show you it because- well, I dunno…’’ his pointed ears drooped slightly as he spoke. ‘’I trust you.’’
Jeff faltered. He frowned. ‘’Oh.’’ he murmured. They were quiet for a few moments, with guilt settling in Jeff’s stomach. He didn’t like guilt. It was an emotion he tried not to feel. ‘’...sorry I freaked out.’’ he finally mumbled. ‘’Just...isn’t it-’’ he squinted. ‘’Freaky?’’
‘’Freaky?’’
‘’Y’know like-’’ Jeff glanced from the gravestone to Ben. ‘’Seeing your own grave, that you died? Doesn’t that just- make you freak out a bit?’’
Ben smirked a bit in amusement. ‘’Nothin’ like a reminder of your own mortality to wake you up in the morning, am I right?’’
‘’PFFFT-’’ Jeff wheezed, laughing loudly in amusement. ‘’Oh fuck that’s- that’s terrible.’’
‘’Not as terrible as being dead!’’ Ben replied, doing jazz hands and grinning. Jeff snickered. Ben’s smile dropped slightly and he glanced back at the gravestone. ‘’I know it’s- weird, and really morbid, but it’s...calming. Like a reminder that I’m- I’m still me. I existed and I’m still Benjamin, just a little different.’’ he spoke softly, his eyes resting on the stone. Jeff’s smile dropped to a more serious expression. Ben looked at him. ‘’You won’t tell Slender about this, right?’’
‘’Slender?’’ Jeff frowned. ‘’Why not?’’
‘’He...wouldn’t really approve of me coming here.’’ Ben pursed his lips. ‘’He wouldn’t forbid me or anything but like- he’d keep a closer eye on me when leaving the house and I just don’t want the hassle, y’know?’’
Jeff nodded. ‘’Yeah, I get that. Strict parents suck.’’ he said. ‘’I’m glad Slender isn’t- too much like that.’’
‘’Yeah.’’ Ben smiled. ‘’He’s great. I just think he’s a bit too overprotective at times, y’know? Tries to keep me away from anything that’d remind me that I’m dead. I get why but...it’s something that I need to accept and come to terms with.’’
Jeff nodded again. ‘’I won’t tell him.’’ he murmured. ‘’Promise.’’
‘’Thanks dude.’’ Ben looked at him and smiled a bit. ‘’I knew I could trust you.’’
Jeff smiled wide. He quickly glanced aside to the gravestone again. ‘’So like-’’ he hesitated. ‘’Can I...ask you about it?’’
‘’How I died?’’
‘’I mean- that too but like...just...you. Why it happened and what life was like for you,’’ he looked at Ben. ‘’I wanna know.’’
‘’Go ahead.’’ Ben shrugged passively. ‘’I don’t really talk about it much so- sure. Why not?’’
‘’So…’’ Jeff tilted his head. ‘’You were...twelve.’’
‘’Yep.’’
‘’...jeez…’’
Ben nodded. ‘’Yeah.’’ he murmured. ‘’Pretty fucked, huh?’’
‘’Yeah…’’ Jeff paused. ‘’How’d it happen?’’
Ben sighed. ‘’...my mom pushed me into a lake,’’ he raised his hand and pointed to the grave. ‘’It was in November, see? So it was really cold and- I couldn’t swim so…’’
"Your mom?"
Ben nodded. "Yep," he sighed. "She...never really liked me."
"That's fucked." Jeff breathed, staring at the gravestone again. "My parents tried to kill me too." He mumbled, mostly because he didn't know what else to say.
"A gun, right?" Ben looked at him. Jeff nodded.  "...think I'd prefer that to drowning." He said with a soft laugh. Jeff chuckled gently, smiling sadly.
"HAH...it hurts to laugh..."
Ben snickered. "Yeah, yeah it does…" he smiled gently. "But hey- at least we feel good enough to talk about it right?"
"Yeah." Jeff murmured. It went quiet for a little while. Jeff glanced up, realising the sun was starting to fade. He looked back at the gravestone. "Hey- you died like- two months after I did-" he paused. "I mean- after I...killed my parents."
"Huh." Ben looked at Jeff, tilting his head. "Does it feel like you died? When you did that…?"
Jeff was quiet for a second. He nodded slightly. "Yeah." He murmured. "It does. Like I'm- not the same person," he looked up at the sky. "I'm not Jeffery Woods I'm...Jeff. The killer.’’
Ben nodded. ‘’I feel that..’’ he moved closer to Jeff. ‘’When I first...woke up, I guess, I didn’t feel like myself. I don’t even look like myself now. Though- I guess neither of us do- but like- I’m a ghost. I don’t experience things the same way a human does…’’ his hand rested on top of Jeff’s. Ben’s skin felt cold to the touch. ‘’It’s always cold...and my hair is always damp,’’ he chuckled gently. ‘’Food tastes a little weird. Like the flavor is muted- or like- a fake version of how it should taste. And whenever I’m around tech? I swear I can hear stuff coming from it. Usually static.’’ he paused, looking over his gravestone. Jeff stayed silent. ‘’When I first woke up like this I was freaked out. I had to adjust, and learn to accept that I wasn’t human anymore. That’s why I like coming here. It reminds me that I’m different but still me.’’
‘’...fuck, dude.’’ Jeff choked out. Ben looked at him and-
‘’Oh shit, are you crying?’’
‘’N-no! I don’t cry!’’ Jeff wiped at his eyes. ‘’It’s your fucking- ghost magic dude.’’ he muttered. Ben laughed gently and squeezed his hand.
‘’Right. Sorry.’’ he said with another soft laugh. He waited patiently until Jeff’s hand relaxed under his. Ben tilted his head at his friend. ‘’It’s getting dark, y’know,’’ he murmured. ‘’I know a good taco van near here. You wanna stop there on the way home?’’
Jeff looked up at him. ‘’Tacos?’’ he asked. Ben nodded. Jeff smiled. ‘’Sounds good, dude.’’
