Today, someone told me that my jewelry is basically useless to the LGBT+ community in the grand scheme of things. Maybe that's true, since I'm only one person and I have a very small following, but I like to think I made a bit of a difference to the 10 people who ordered these rings and bracelets from me. That's something, isn't it? Because I chose to pursue the arts instead of something STEM-related, I often struggle with feeling useless. I work hard, but sometimes it feels like nothing I do matters because it's "just music" or "just art." This was a unique commission. The customer requested four RWBY symbols on one band: Qrow, Jaune, Pyrrha, and Sun, but they wanted Qrow's symbol in green and Jaune's in purple. They didn't offer any explanation for the colors, so I suppose I'll always wonder. They also requested gold for Sun, so I used one of my metallic gold inks. I think it's particularly pretty in this video. :) My rings are stainless steel and come in whole sizes 3-16. Each one is made to order, so I'm able to do a lot of custom work, like this one. Here's one of the Magic: the Gathering rings I made recently. They requested 3 symbols: white, black, and green, but on a black band. This is something I've been wanting to do for AGES. My ring blank supplier makes rings with cross cutouts, and I've been DYING to see if I can fill the cutout with a colored resin. Turns out I can~ These aren't available for sale yet since I've only made one so far and haven't been able to do any tests yet (this one is a 14, so I'm obviously not testing this one since I can fit literally two of my fingers into it), but once they are, I'll add them to my Etsy shop. I'd originally intended these for people looking for Christian jewelry, but the cross motif appears in RWBY, also (I think it represents the four elements, since we only see it worn by Ozluminati members and Ruby, who is emulating her uncle), so it might make a great gift for an Ozpin, Qrow, or Ruby cosplayer, too! Here are the photos of today's mailing! Fortunately, I didn't have many orders between ACEN and AniMinneapolis, so I was able to keep on top of things and get everything taken care of before leaving for Colossal despite having been traveling so much. Last month, I was commissioned to make a Rose Crest ring from Revolutionary Girl Utena. I don't know much about the anime and have only seen the trippy ending sequence as part of a panel on magical girls, but I did enjoy making the ring! Rather than just ink the outlines, I left the outlines untouched and inked the insides. I think it looks better that way, and it's more accurate to the source material. Now that the squad is headed to Atlas, do you think we'll finally see Penny 2.0 in Volume 6 of RWBY? While we're speculating, enjoy the solo photos of the Penny ring I was recently commissioned to make! This is a stainless steel signet ring engraved with Penny's symbol, inked with @vintajco patina in marble, and sealed with @iceresin dyed with a special mix of their tints in emerald and beryl. I'm so pleased with how this ring came out, and I'm hoping to make more in the future (so you should commission me *nudge nudge*)! I've been asked to put Penny's symbol on band rings before, but this is the first time I've been commissioned to make a Penny signet ring. It almost looks like it glows, which is fitting for her design. I'm not sure if this was intended to be part of a cosplay or just for everyday wear, but it will look great either way!
