Alright I've seen a lot of discourse saying how bad Arven's parents are, but are we forgetting the fact that both Nemona and Penny also have questionable parents at the very least?? During the whole trip down the research stations, Arven asks about how their parents are, and Nemona says how she addresses them as "mother and father," and that they leave her alone and let her do what she wants because her older sister will take over the rotom phone company. This also implies that she doesn't have a very close relationship with them, maybe it's the reason why she's always seeking out the trainer's company because battling is her only solace. The only thing she feels comfortable and enjoys doing, without being judged for it. Then there's also Penny's dad, from how she worded it to be, he seems overprotective, maybe even to the point that he could be considered as a helicopter parent. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it definitely is when he could have been the reason of her getting bullied. The professors were wrong for what they did, and I won't defend them for how they treated Arven, because that was a shitty thing to do. But, they're not the only parents out there to be blamed is what I'm saying.

Going to ramble a little bit for a headcanon! It's interesting to me that Arven's features resemble both his parents; his hair most especially. Also found it intriguing how he styled it. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I think it's supposed to be modeled after Sada's wild hair. For this headcanon, I'm going to assume that Sada left unwillingly a few months succeeding Arven's birth, perhaps due to Turo beginning to be deluded about the paradise he wanted. Anyway, we can fast-forward to Arven as a little child being curious, and so he starts reading his dad's journals. By accident a picture of Turo and Sada happily cradling an infant, slips out one of the pages. Of course, he assumes it to be his own mother, and decides to treasure her dearly by making his hair longer. Very self-indulgent but i want to think he has heterochromia, his uncovered eye is the same hue of blue from Sada and the covered eye, would be the same brown from Turo!

Hope you don’t mind me going on an itty bitty ramble about the professors, they’re the most intriguing part of the games for me, and I’ve got so many thoughts and ideas bouncing around my head about them. Something that I found really interesting is the suggestion behind the AI variant’s change of heart regarding the time machine. They’re made to be perfect replications of their original counterparts, in physical appearance and mentality, and so, if they’re essentially a carbon copy of the original Sada and Turo, would that not imply a change of heart in the initial professors too? Personally, I think the event that led to the AI deciding the time machine needed to be stopped was them witnessing the professor be killed protecting Koraidon/Miraidon from the rampaging Paradox Pokèmon, and if that IS the case, then I think it’s more than possible that had Sada and Turo slipped by with a near death experience rather than actually die, they may have also been snapped back to reality.
And another thing, not really based on any canon evidence and just an idea that emotionally beat me over the head with a stick: remember when Arven said that he and Mabosstif snuck into Area Zero to go find his mom, and that’s how Mabosstif was injured? I know the sequence of events is pretty vague, but please consider: what if Sada/Turo had already been attacked and was dead when Arven went down there to look for her/him? What if Mabosstif was attacked by the same Paradox Pokèmon that killed his parent?
Not at all, please ramble to your heart's content! I love reading asks like this because it opens so many possibilities, and this one is so GOOD! First things first, anon all i want to say is YOUR MIND!!! Literally I didn't think about Arven going into area zero and being attacked by the other koraidon/miraidon THAT WOULD BE SO INTERESTING and also very depressing good god. It would make sense too as why the game implied Arven already knew why the present professor wasn't really his parent.
During the third research station, the ai started apologizing for the glitch interference with the "hello children", arven comments something along the lines of "that's not what that was,"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...and when you put that and the scenario of him seeing kuraidon/miraidon kill his parent... well, that definitely makes sense. I think it could have also caused a lot of trauma to Arven and due to that, he may have blocked the memories out, which is why at the beginning of the game he thinks his parent is still at area zero working day and night. (This got dark fast but man,,,,)
Personally for me, I think the AI's weren't created to be their perfect replications, because had that been the case, they would have ended up making the same mistakes as the professors did. The cycle repeats, and they'd become obsessed with the time machine as well.
The only reason why I say this is because of this little sequence,
Tumblr media
The AI geniunely seemed shocked that the professor had safety protocols in case THEIR first safety protocol was breached. Even the AI did not expect their own self would ensure the time machine would not stop working.
I think the AI's were created in their own image, but out of sheer desperation. The professors desperately needed someone else to help them with the building of the time machine, and having another version of themselves would speed things up. It was also implied that the other parent was working with them, so it could have been made out of longing/loneliness too. The reason why I thought of this is because of this specific journal entry,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interestingly enough, the professor worded it to be "has intellect and technical skills to rival my own,"
They didn't say,
"my assistant has intellect and technical skills that are parallel to mine,"
Now I know the previous journal wished that "if only there were two of me,"
If we're putting this on a larger scale, the reason why they would want another version of themselves is because they already had sufficient information on how to build the time machine on their own, explaining their research to another person that could leave again would be too much for them to handle, and I assume they wanted it done in the quickest way possible.
But I do agree with you! I think that if the real Turo/Sada had been in a near death experience, that would have mostly given them a change of heart as well! I also 100% agree that the AI seeing the real events had a huge part of triggering them to realizing that this was not doing any of them good. This isn't to say that the professors are completely heartless though! Far from it in fact!
I think they had become too clouded with their own research, perhaps to the point they deluded themselves into thinking that achieving this would bring back their happy family. If this was the case, it would be the reason as to why they had focused all of their energy into building the time machine. I particularly don't think Turo or Sada cared more about the paradox pokemon than their own son, from my point of view, I think it was for validation. They geniunely wanted a world where they could have a happy family in the past/future, but ultimately got derailed from their original goal, and that might have been why their partner left. It's absolutely clear that they in fact do LOVE Arven, and that had things gone well for the family, they would have been doting parents since they were so excited for little Arven. Anyway this is all of my thoughts and opinions though, merely conjecture until we get more information but this ask was so fun to read! I hope gamefreak will expand the professors' stories, area zero really was the most intriguing part of the game, shame it was super quick, they could have at least given us a flashback to what happened, similar to the team star boss scenes!!

(The AI anon) Whoa, WAIT, I never even considered the other Koraidon or Miraidon being the culprit behind Sada/Turo’s killing, that makes so much sense? I assumed it was a Roaring Moon that killed Sada and an Iron Valiant that killed Turo, since both of those Pokèmon are the AIs’ respective ace Pokèmon and they’re separated from the other Paradox Pokèmon in the Pokèdex (I think the four treasure legendaries are between them?), so they’d likely be the Pokèmon that the professors inaccurately gauged the strength of. But the second Koraidon and Miraidon makes a thousand times more sense; our Kiraidon and Miraidon fled Area Zero after the territorial dispute, so they would still have access to their battle forms if it had been a normal Paradox Pokèmon and I doubt the professors would feel compelled to protect them from a Pokèmon they were stronger than. But if Sada and Turo’s deaths occurred during the dispute, then our legendary would have been too scared to fight back, and then their life would be at stake, leading to the professors’ intervening. That’s so interesting, thanks for bringing that up!
YEAH! Koraidon/Miraidon having a psychological scar and refusing to go back into Area Zero if it did see the other Kuraidon/Miraidon kill their "parent" so-to-speak, makes sense as to why they were terrified of battling the other one. And to add the inclusion of your headcanon, where Arven had seen or was there during the incident, it would also make more sense as to why Arven dislikes Kuraidon/Miraidon, despite the fact that he had to take care of it, it also reminds him of who had killed his parents.
Although! Call me old fashion if you will, but seeing as the AI had been imbued with the professors memories, and therefore causes them to make decisions based on what the professors would do, I think the paradox pokemon they have in their party would be the professors' original pokemon, and what I mean by this is: before they had brought back the paradox pokemon from the different eras, they had the present versions of their pokemon party:
(v): Volcarona, Hariyama, Hydreigon, Tyranitar, Delibird, Gallade.
(s): Volcarona, Amoonguss, Magneton, Misdreavus, Jigglypuff, Salamence.
I think Iron Valiant/Gallade and Roaring Moon/Salamence are definitely ones they had before discovering paradox pokemon, like you said: their pokedex entries are different, so it could mean that they're either really rare in those eras and thinking that the AI made time to get those specific pokemon, well, it's certainly something to think about! And, the matching Volcarona might symbolize something as well, if we want to look into things deeper, perhaps it's the pokemon that brought the professors together, or who knows, well anyway, happy to help anon! Thank you for sharing these thoughts with me!
