sung jinwoo x civilian!fem.reader
notes: i'm so happy to dedicate my 100th oneshot to sung jinwoo (⺣◡⺣)♡
{ i can't lie, i trust you, i love you, i won't waste your time | i turn it off so i can turn you on | i'll make you say it out loud | i'm not even tripping, i won't stress you out | i might even settle down for you... }
there was something terrifying that came with being a simple human. after all, being a mere civilian while living in such a dangerous world was nothing short of a death sentence.
however, you suppose that was the reason why hunters awakened the same time these dangerous portals appeared throughout the world. humans that had the power and strength to combat the terrifying forces that these gates housed.
you, much like the rest of the world, treated these hunters like they were idols meant to be gazed upon with awe. each time a new gate appeared, they would risk their lives protecting the the people of earth while being celebrated if they came out victorious in the end.
yet out of all the national hunters that existed in the world, you were inexplicably drawn to one that went by the name sung jinwoo. the whole world knew of his perfect, cinderella-esque story where he grew from being the world's weakest to one of the strongest within a few month's time.
each time he would be captured within the glossy pages of a magazine or an article detailing his feats, you would cut them, keeping them all in a private scrapbook while admiring him and using his accomplishments to further inspire and motivate you in your own life.
you keep the scrapbook dedicated to jinwoo on your bookshelf, letting out a huff when you catch your reflection from the window's glass pane. not known to be much of a beauty, you purse your lips and run a hand through the tangles in your hair. embarrassingly enough, you often daydreamed about meeting jinwoo someday, making up pretend scenarios in your head as you basked in the thought of having his kind smile directed at you-
feeling the heat settle against your cheek, you banish those embarrassing thoughts immediately, reeling them in while reminding yourself that hunters like cha hae-in existed. you knew of the rumors surrounding jinwoo with hae-in, and truthfully, such a strong and beautiful hunter was a better fit for jinwoo than you could ever be.
a strange pang was felt on your chest, making you angrily swipe away at the tears. desperate to cheer up and feel better, you were determined to get out of your apartment and explore the streets of seoul for a nice bookstore, ready to bury yourself in a good romance novel while living vicariously through the main characters.
dressed comfortably in a hoodie and some jeans, you grab your bag and made sure you had enough funds in your wallet before stepping out of your home. breathing in the fresh air, you begin your trek out of your apartment complex, carefully treading down the concrete stairs while looking up the closest bookstore.
your search takes you to the heart of seoul, with you walking even deeper into the city before arriving at the store's address. letting out a huff upon realizing that it was across the street, you wait by the stoplight. only when the light turned red did you finally cross the street, eyes shining with excitement and joy at being surrounded by all the books.
yet before you could step on to the sidewalk, the sounds of a car's engine roaring to life makes you stop dead in your tracks. your eyes go wide, seeing the headlights of the sports car coming at you at a rapid pace. your heart sinks, knowing that you wouldn't be fast enough to avoid the impact.
"STOP!" a booming voice surrounds you, and you clench your eyes shut, preparing yourself for the incoming impact-
yet it never came.
a pair of powerful arms surrounds you, and you could smell the scent of his cologne while his hand remains outstretched, managing to stop the car with his bare hands, putting a considerable dent in it. with the vehicle forced to stop suddenly, you were dimly aware of how the cars surrounded you, causing an unnecessary amount of traffic-
your throat was dry, and you could feel your whole body trembling at the thought of being so close to death. lifting your gaze, you had words of gratitude for the man who had saved you-
yet upon realizing his true identity, the words died against your throat, for it was none other than sung jinwoo who had prevented your impending demise. your mind was in a daze now, merely staring up at the man with an almost awed expression. you could feel how taut his body had gotten when the owner of said car gets out of his vehicle. "oi asshole, you just put a dent in my baby! do you know how much money i spent on-"
"this shitty car is nothing compared to the life you had almost taken." you watch the way jinwoo's eyes glowed a dangerous, lilac hue, sizing up the man while keeping a protective arm wrapped around your shoulder
the driver recognizes jinwoo immediately and lets out a plethora of stutters. "s-sorry man, i didn't know it was you. i-i'm sorry for the trouble i caused, miss."
"get on your knees and properly apologize to her." you tremble upon feeling the deadly aura that suddenly surrounds you. not immune to the almost authoritarian aura that radiates from jinwoo's form, the careless driver kneeled down before you, pressing his forehead against the street while apologizing to you over and over again.
satisfied with his actions, jinwoo pulls you away from the scene before meeting your gaze. immediately, his expression turns softer- kinder even as he gently frames at your face, ignoring the commotion he had caused earlier while focusing his entire attention on you. "are you alright?"
it takes a herculean effort for you to maintain eye contact with him, feeling your heart pounding out of the confines of your chest as you could only manage to give him a nod. jinwoo lets out a hum, not straying a hand away from your shoulders as you felt the fabric of his shirt brushing against you. "where did you wish to go?"
you point at the bookstore settled behind him, with jinwoo flashing you a wide grin. "ah, is that so? shall we go in together?"
not even waiting for your response, jinwoo manages to take a hold of your hand, opening the door to the bookstore for you to step inside first. "thank you," you manage to tell him in a bit of a raspy whisper, willing your heart to stop racing.
but alas, not even the scent of newly printed pages could erase the anxiety and anticipation you felt with jinwoo standing so close to you. his fingertips kept brushing against your hand when you attempted to scour the aisles for anything interesting to read. eventually, your gaze lands on three books that had flowery covers and designs. with an eager nod, you decide to purchase the trilogy-
only to have jinwoo gently take away the thick tomes from your hands.
"ah, what are you doing, hunter sung?!"
"paying for these since you had a pretty shitty start to your day. and please, just call me jinwoo." he winks back at you, taking the books while heading towards the cashier's counter. you were unable to change his mind, walking behind him all while feeling like you were in the midst of a dream.
the cashier seemed to recognize him, freaking out while jumping up and down behind the counter. she asks if she could take a selfie with him, which jinwoo happily agreed to. for some odd reason, seeing jinwoo taking a picture with the cashier made a strange pang of envy course through your veins, but you try to bury those intrusive thoughts, simply waiting for jinwoo to finish with bated breath.
a few minutes later, jinwoo hands you the paper bag filled with the books he had purchased for you. a shy smile paints your expression as you held the bag close to your chest. "y-you didn't have to do that, but thank you hunter- i mean, j-jinwoo."
he meets your gaze and does the one thing you have always dreamt of. with grey eyes shining with mirth, his full lips were turned up in a smile while giving you a simple nod, "of course, don't mention it miss...?" jinwoo purposely trails off, making you realize that he was asking for your name.
clearing your throat, you turn away from him and tell him the syllables that make up your name. were your eyes playing tricks on you, or did jinwoo's smile seem to widen in response when he repeats your name (as if tasting it on his tongue)? the way your name rolls off his tongue causes you to shiver slightly in response, and you had a ridiculous thought of how you could get used to hearing him say it more often.
with the traffic and the douchebag's car gone, jinwoo escorts you back to your apartment complex. he makes small talk with you, asking you about all of your interests (ranging from your favorite foods to favorite color), filling you with a strange sense of warmth-
and jinwoo's kindness along with his willingness to save and protect you only serves to deepen your feelings for him. even as you were back within the safety of your apartment, you didn't wish to part ways with jinwoo, shyly meeting his gaze while brushing back your hair, "thanks again for... well, for everything."
a rich chuckle escapes from his parted lips, "don't mention it. i didn't mind protecting a pretty girl like you."
your knees clash together in response to his playful words, seeing his grey eyes take on a brighter hue. time seemed to stand still when he looks down at you, hands being oh so gentle when he frames at your face. you watch with wide eyes when he leans down (albeit a bit hesitantly) before murmuring fuck it as he presses a chaste kiss against your lips.
fireworks were felt going off within your head at the unexpected sensation of his lips on yours, and you shyly kissed him back, allowing jinwoo to delve his fingers into your hair, pulling you closer to him. he dives his tongue within your lips for a brief moment before pulling away, "i have to go, but... i promise i'll be thinking of you, sarang."
feeling like you were caught up in a dream, you allow jinwoo to tilt your chin upwards. he begins to grin at the dazed expression on your face, lifting up a hand to press two fingers against his lips in another kiss before pressing them against your lips once more. you stayed glued on the spot, not leaving until jinwoo was out of sight as you gave your arm a hard pinch to make sure that you weren't dreaming.
still in a haze, you enter your apartment and slam the door shut. sliding down the hard surface, you let out a shuddering breath and bask in the different emotions that you were feeling-
giddiness-
love-
adoration-
and a strange sense of belonging.
letting out a breathy laugh, you take out one of your books and open the cover-
only to see a single card with a message and a series of numbers:
i never believed in love at first sight-
until now.

jinwoo sung x fem.reader
{ my feelings for you sparkle in my thoughts | i can't be honest with myself yet | even though i have realized the truth | my body is throbbing with the words i can't get out... }
jinwoo sung has always been in love with you-
and he's come to realize that as being a fact that would never change.
you may not know it, but he fell for you during a time where he first decided to become a hunter, being labeled as the weakest in the entire world and you had healed him from a grave wound with your immense healing power.
jinwoo recalls that moment as if it had happened yesterday... where he had first started out as a hunter, becoming so gravely injured that not even joohee could heal him, forcing the young woman to call for help. it was just so painful, losing so much blood while laying on the cold, stone floor of the dungeon.
his life was felt slipping away from him, and all jinwoo could feel was an immense regret at leaving his loved ones behind.
mom, sis... i'm so sorry, but i can't...
as he was close to losing all hope, he felt a warm embrace encircling him. his gasps for air were all that echoed throughout the dungeon, and that was the moment his silvery eyes met with your tranquil expression.
blood was felt bubbling in his throat, but the moment your hand touched at his chest, he felt all of his pain disappear. bathed in a gentle, golden glow, jinwoo suddenly felt the blood receding back into him along with the dissipating pain. your features were twisted in a look of concentration, never removing your hand from his chest until all of his wounds disappeared.
the newbie hunter could feel a blush dye his cheeks red, suddenly feeling alive once more when he sits back up. he looks at his hands, and touches at his chest, no longer feeling pain nor tasting the coppery bitterness of his blood within his mouth.
"h-how did you... that was..."
but all you did was give him a gentle smile before placing a finger upon your lips. "sssh, it's a secret."
he hears joohee's panicked voice, which was what prompted you to stand before disappearing from the dungeon. his throat felt dry, unable to answer joohee and the backup she had called, because all he could think about was you.
jinwoo wouldn't get to see you again until much later... after he became a bit stronger thanks to the system.
his thoughts were consumed with meeting you again; with becoming stronger for your sake as he hoped to protect you in return for you saving his life. he grew stronger, and more confident as he lost the prior meekness he once had when he first started out as a hunter.
so when he saw you again, entering a cafe while ordering your favorite drink, he knew he had to take this chance.
without even thinking about it, he pays for your coffee and pastries, quite literally forcing himself into your plans while hiding his anxiety behind a confident smile. you end up smiling at him, thanking him for paying while allowing him to join you. it was during your first conversation together that he learned of your work as an a-rank healer, where you were often called as backup if many dire injuries had occurred.
( jinwoo had to fight back the urge to ask if you remembered him. )
and after that first meeting and interaction... like a butterfly effect, it all just seemed to... fall perfectly in place.
jinwoo made sure to be a constant presence in your life. often going out with you on your days off ( with him making an effort not to explore the dungeons by himself during those times ). it was truly like all those romance movies and novels have said-
"when you fall in love, all you want to do is surround yourself with them."
because that was what jinwoo was doing at this very minute.
with you feeling lazy, you invited jinwoo over to hang out with you. you were currently settled on the couch, flipping through the pages of your novel with him sitting on the armchair settled across from you. as he was pretending to read, he kept sneaking glances at you.
his heart softens upon admiring you, seeing the sunlight shining through your hair, further accentuating your soft beauty. jinwoo could feel his heart beating rapidly from within his chest, and each time he opened his mouth to try and say something, no words would come out.
mentally berating himself, jinwoo lets out a sigh, unable to take this... distance between you and him any longer. even if he was unable to say anything, maybe he could do something to act on these festering emotions that was felt brewing within his heart.
settling off his own book to the side, jinwoo stands from his seat, purposely towering over you, casting shadows over you. you see him in your periphery and smile, "hey jinwoo-"
you gasp suddenly, watching as he flops down on the couch, resting his head against your lap. he listens to you, paying close attention to the way your sweet voice calls out his name with a bit of a tremor.
"sorry... just... give me this moment to relax with you." it was a struggle for jinwoo to try and keep his voice even, practically relishing within your warmth while breathing in the faint scent of your perfume and shampoo.
he doesn't dare open his eyes, for fear of blushing immensely once he sees you peering down at him. there was a silence permeating at the air when jinwoo feels you shifting in your seat. listening as your voice begins to hum, he shivers upon feeling your hands delve into his hair.
the hunter swore he could feel a purr vibrating with his throat, basking in the way your fingertips massaged at his scalp. he felt so relaxed... so calm and peaceful while laying beneath you-
yet all feelings of tranquility was lost the moment he feels your soft lips touching with his. within mere milliseconds, his eyes were open wide, only to see how your eyes were closed as you kissed him deeply. letting out a moan of your name, jinwoo happily accepts your kiss, pulling you toward him when he wraps an arm around your neck, bringing you oh so closer to him.
your lips continue to perfectly slot against his, making the shadow monarch shiver in response. pleasure was felt coursing through him, and he found himself thinking that if he died right now-
then he'd die happy.
you end up pulling away from jinwoo first, embarrassment painting your pretty features when you slowly admit to him.
"jin, i lo-"
but he interrupts your confession with a growl, meeting your lips once more in a hungry kiss.
jinwoo would be damned if you were the one to confess to him, so he supposes that he just needs to keep kissing you to help you forget-
so that he can tell you first.
{ maybe i was nonchalant, but you’re the only one my eyes were chasing | when i think about it, i might have already fallen for you | how far away did i hide my true self the day i decided to meet you? | when i think how much being hated scared me, i was in love }
a.n. - in celebration of my new URL change !! help, i have joined the jinwoo harem, that man has a chokehold on me bc wow... aleks le is perfect as jinwoo 😭🙏🏻

x fem reader.
it was exactly 1:03 am when your careful movements had screeched to an abrupt halt, and you swear your heart nearly lurched out of the confines of your chest as a large shadow loomed over you.
you instantly whipped around, mouth stuffed with food, slightly backing up against the refrigerator and glancing up at the man you call your husband— who was solely responsible for the jumpscare.
for a moment, you just stared at him with wide eyes, and he simply stared back. no words exchanged, the peaceful silence of the night replaced by the thumping of your own heartbeat being the only sound. you hastily swallow your food before finally parting your lips at last.
"you scared me!" you whisper-shouted, your hand flying up to press against your chest where your heart was still racing erratically.
finally, his expression shifted— his lips curving into a small, sheepish smile; lightly ruffling the back of his hair as he took a small step back.
".. sorry, i didn't mean to scare you."
his voice was thick with sleep, a touch deeper than usual.
your expression softened, the fright from earlier easing up as you gently closed the refrigerator behind you, now the only illumination in the kitchen being the soft golden hued dim light.
"it's fine," you chuckle softly. "my bad, did i wake you up when i got up?"
you did, yes. was that a bad thing? hardly. your husband was just simply too used to having you in his arms as you both slept, safe and sound within his snug and comforting embrace. he always seemed to stir awake whenever he felt you moving away from his arms, just as he did earlier.
he assumed that maybe you had some business to finish in the bathroom, or that you had simply gotten up to fetch yourself a cool glass of water. so when 10 minutes passed with no sign of you coming back to bed, naturally, he was starting to feel the worry creep in. he was a man on a mission to find his wife and bring her back right where she belongs— in his arms, of course.
and now, here he was.
"it's not a big deal," he shook his head. "were you hungry?"
"uhh.."
"want me to make you something?"
"no, no! it's okay, i just woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall asleep for some reason." you finally said, although warmth bloomed in your chest at the way your husband was willing to cook for you in the dead of the night just because his beloved wife had a small craving.
he nodded his head in understanding, the remnants of sleep in his eyes slowly beginning to fade away. you moved away from the refrigerator to walk towards the counter, bringing a glass forward. just before you could reach for the jug, you stilled.
in 2 strides, he had closed the distance. he was standing right behind you now, his broader frame hovering over you— the solidness of his chest almost pressing against your back, as he, too, reached for his glass, while his other hand absentmindedly came up to rest on your waist. your heart skipped a beat at the sudden proximity.
... not that you were complaining.
before you knew it, he was already bringing the glass to his lips. your gaze darted down at your own glass which he had also filled while he was at it.
"well, someone's quiet."
now you were pretty sure he was doing this on purpose now. his hand? still on your waist, his thumb drawing small, featherlight circles over your skin. and the man himself? still standing right behind you, the warmth of his body intertwining with yours.
you could very clearly hear the smirk in his voice.
you huffed, ignoring the way your cheeks warmed up as you gulped down your water.
"you're being awfully flirty for someone who just got up from bed," you shot, finally turning around to face him. and the moment you did? his face was close. too close.
"what, i can't flirt with my own wife whenever i please now?" he raised an eyebrow, leaning down just slightly— his nose lightly brushing against yours in a ticklish, teasing gesture.
you rolled your eyes in response, yet you couldn't help the smile spreading across your lips. you merely hummed, your hands sliding up to wrap around his neck, tugging him down towards you just slightly, and he leaned down instinctively. you placed a soft, fleeting peck on his lips, watching the way his playful expression softened. both of his arms had already found their way towards your waist, gentle and steady.
"give me another kiss, pretty. preferably one that lasts longer."
you giggled, slightly shaking your head. greedy. you reached up again, your lips claiming his in a sweet kiss, slow and unhurried. and he returned the kiss in no less than a second, each movement of his lips against yours speaking like a soft confession of his unwavering love and devotion for you. he pulled you closer towards him, his hold on you tightening— but not uncomfortably. you instantly melted into him, nails gently grazing his scalp.
his lips tilted into the faintest smile in-between the kiss.
you immediately felt it, and smiled too.
that, in turn, made him smile a tad bit wider.
after a moment, you pulled away, lips slightly parted. a soft yet undeniably lovesick smile was present on both of your faces, and the way you two gazed into each other's eyes said more than what words could at that moment.
wordlessly, he began gently swaying with you still between his arms, guiding you into a slow dance. a surprised laugh left your lips, and to him, that itself was the melody for the impromptu dance— your steady breaths mingling with his, shared laughter, stolen kisses and hushed confessions.
perhaps getting caught in the kitchen past midnight wasn't so bad after all.

Pillow Talk (1/4)
AO3 Link
Sequel to Come Home to Me but can be read separately.
Pairing: Sung Jinwoo X Female Reader
Genre: Marriage AU, fluff, smut
Summary: Your husband, Sung Jinwoo, has been trying to restrain himself from touching you in the last few weeks, not wanting to make you feel uncomfortable as you're dealing with the first trimester of your pregnancy. But today, his patience is running thin. He needs to be with you, in one way or another.
Content Warnings: Teeth-rotting fluff, cute family moments, and sweet, slow, passionate sex with Husband/Papa!Jinwoo (in part 2)
Word Count: 7K
Sung Jinwoo has always loved taking on treacherous dungeon raids, especially by himself. He can gain all the experience he needs to level up, gather more magic stones to build a stronger guild, and, of course, extract more shadows to join his army. But these days, as he enters a gate with a silver wedding band wrapped around his finger, he wields his daggers with a smile solely because of one reason: so you can pamper him once he gets home.
It’s not easy, you see, pretending to get hurt and act weak and sluggish all day when you’re an S-Rank Hunter famously known to be invincible. He practically is, isn’t he? With thousands of undying soldiers beneath his feet, how could anyone imagine him getting hurt? Every raid should be light work for him, which is true. Your husband could quite literally just stand there on the sidelines with both hands buried inside his coat’s pockets, smirking to himself as he imagined all the ways you could make him feel better after a supposedly long, exhausting day inside the gate (and best believe, he’d be creative with it, maybe even a bit naughty about it).
And he did, most of the time, just occasionally yawning as he watched his generals—Beru and Igris—shred the dungeon monsters to pieces. The only thing that kept him entertained during his waiting was the thought of seeing you again, of coming home to you and being welcomed with a kiss, of holding his daughter in his arms while she babbled about her “super dangerous” trip to the nearby supermarket.
Being a married man changed him, but only for the best.
Today’s raid is no different, just as tedious and time-consuming as always.
“O most noble majesty,” Beru, the former Ant King who once massacred several S-rank Hunters in a matter of seconds, kneels before his master in a deep bow, his claws clutched against his heart, one that he dedicated solely to his king. “I bring tidings of great import. The fell beast, Guardian of the Dungeon Depths, hath been vanquished in glorious combat by mine hand, thy most true and loyal servant—”
“Speak normally, or I’ll take the TV away from you.”
“Y-yes, my liege, my apologies. I hereby inform you that I have defeated the dungeon boss as you commanded. The shadow knights are now collecting the magic stones. The ants are dealing with the remaining beasts. We shall finish this raid before the sun sets low, my king.”
“Good,” Jinwoo stretches his arms over his head, his muscles taut from all the waiting. He hasn’t done a single thing since he entered the gate—aside from daydreaming about you, that is. It’s partially your fault, really, for wearing that sultry nightgown to bed last night. You were well aware that he was still too afraid to touch you ever since you discovered that you were pregnant with his second child. He could see just how uncomfortable you were dealing with your hormonal changes and your constant morning sickness. The last thing he wanted to do was to wear your body down even further by attending to his needs. And yet, you still wore that satin lace gown to bed, driving him insane with how smoothly the fabric slid across your skin, hugging your curves in all the places he’d been itching to touch. You didn’t mean to lure him in, of course; the gown was just so comfortable to sleep in, but goddammit, he wanted you so badly he had to take a bathroom trip twice to give himself some relief.
“Great work today, Beru,” Jinwoo says. “There’s only one more thing I need you to do for me.”
“Anything, my liege.”
He looks down at him, still with his hands stuck in the pockets of his black trench coat. A smirk graces his lips with a glimmer of impishness sketched over it. “I want you to hit me in the face.”
“M-m-my liege?!” Beru’s shadowy figure was drenched in all black, but even then, it was clear that he turned pale at the request. “H-how could I, Beru, your most humble servant, do such thing to your gorgeous, most absolutely divine face, my king?”
“Don’t ever say that again,” he almost shudders from the excessive compliment before a shrug follows. “You said you’d do anything for me, right? Or was that a lie?”
“I-it is not a lie, my liege, but—”
“Should I just ask Igris instead?” He huffs loudly to the air. `“I know he wouldn’t think twice if I asked him to do something for me, especially this one. It’s a dire need, after all.”
If there was one thing that could easily agitate the ant king, it was being compared to another shadow soldier. It was endearing, really—and borderline creepy—the way Beru was so possessive over him, always wanting to be the one who could impress the Shadow Monarch the most, to be the only one worthy of standing by his side. “Even so, my liege, I am not sure if I should—”
“Hit me.” Jinwoo’s patience runs thinner than usual. Is it really because he’s so touch-starved, yearning for you, that he’s grown this irritated? “Do it as hard as you can. If you hold back, I’ll never summon you again.”
Beru cowers at the thought. “No, please, my liege, have mercy. Anything but that.”
“Then, do it.”
“B-but—”
“Igris, come here—”
“I SHALL DO IT, MY LIEGE!” ***
Being pregnant is a mix of wonderful and trying times. Your first pregnancy was the perfect evidence of that, but since you managed to go through it somehow, you thought the second time would be easier, assuming that your body had learned enough from the previous experience to withstand it this time. You hoped you could recover from your morning sickness much faster this time around, but no.
It’s not any easier. It’s ten times worse. And it fucking sucks.
You’ve been throwing up more today than the amount of hours you spent sleeping through the night. No matter how often you rinse your mouth or brush your teeth, you still feel the aftertaste of your bile coating your tongue. Everyday is a long day to get through. From doing chores and caring for your daughter—who has now turned four—you haven’t gotten much chance to rest. Your mood is all over the place. Every time your toddler throws a tantrum, you’re so tempted to imitate and throw a bigger one. It’s a childish thought, you know that, but if lying around the floor with your limbs flailing around could make you feel better, you would’ve probably done it.
Your body is weary. Your daughter is still running all over the place, making a mess out of the potpourri you just placed on the coffee table to chase away the pet odor in your home. The scent only lingers faintly in the air—Mr. Whiskers never smells terrible, all thanks to the High Orcs who take turns to wash him regularly—but ever since you have a life growing inside you, your sense of smell is heightened, and nearly everything makes you nauseous. If you weren’t pregnant, you wouldn’t have been bothered by the odor at all.
Right now, you’re staring blankly at the dirty plates sitting on the sink, waiting to be washed. You don’t feel like finishing your chores. You don’t feel like doing anything at all, honestly. Whenever you feel like this, there’s only one thing that can fix your mood and boost it quickly, or rather, a person, and that is—
“Jinwoo…” You sigh out his name longingly as if it were a mantra that could magically restore the life within you. You speak it like a prayer, and perhaps it is, just wishing for your husband to come home soon so he can console you like always, giving you the warmest of back hugs before he plants comforting kisses down your neck and says—
“Yes, my love?”
Your husband’s voice reverberates right beside your ear, and you jolt, shrieking in surprise as a pair of strong arms wrap themselves around your waist from behind. Jinwoo has just appeared out of thin air—no, out of your shadow—smiling at you with one corner of his lips rising higher than the other. You can hear a peal of laughter tumbling off his lips at your reaction, his mouth brushing against the side of your neck, light and tender, with a promise of something more if he’s not careful.
“Mmm, seems like someone has been missing me all day,” he comments, visibly delighted, his husky voice vibrating right onto your sensitive skin.
You whirl around to face him, your heart still caught in your throat as you throw a playful smack on his chest. “How many times do I have to tell you to stop. doing. that?” You punctuate each word with a slap.
He chortles softly, catching your wrist with ease. Your hand appears much smaller than his, but then again, your entire body is. You're not aware of this yet, but this is one of the reasons why he’s so attracted to you. Something about you being short and tiny (compared to him, that is), your body soft and warm in his arms—it drives him crazy, shrouded him with this need to protect you, to take care of you. “Doing what?” he asks despite knowing the answer. He kisses the dip of your palm, perhaps as a token of his apology, although it doesn’t seem fairly sincere with how he’s impishly grinning at you.
“Popping out of nowhere!” You chastise with a glare. “I swear to God, Sung Jinwoo, one of these days, I’ll get a heart attack, and you’ll only have yourself to blame.”
He continues to chuckle fondly at your attitude. Placing both hands on the kitchen counter, he has your body trapped in between. Jinwoo towers over you, his body caging you in, and he still smells so wonderfully pleasant, like the perfume you bought him even after going through long hours of fighting beasts in the dungeon (your gullible self never realized that your husband was just lazing around all day during the raid, doing nothing but having questionable thoughts about you). He’s dressed rather formally today, wearing the same white button-down shirt and the black trousers you’d prepared for him this morning. You wonder if his meeting with the higher-ups went well. It’s always the most tiresome part of the day for him, even way more than all the hours he spends inside the gates.
“I’m sorry for startling you,” Jinwoo apologizes with a playful kiss on your forehead. “I just can’t help it. You look so cute when you’re surprised.”
You continue to glower at him.
“And even cuter when you’re angry,” he adds, his grin boyish and irritatingly charming. “Where’s my welcome home kiss?”
Oh, the audacity. “You don’t get any until you learn your lesson,” you grumble as you spin back toward the sink, switching on the water and snatching a dirty plate. “Thank goodness, I was just doing the dishes. Remember the last time you did this? When I was…” You continue with your scolding, bleating one line after another, but each word is brushed aside as Jinwoo takes in the sight of you, enthralled.
It warms his heart to see you like this, his love for you brimming in his chest simply from seeing you do something domestic in the heart of his home. Your delicate frame, your beauty showing so naturally without anything to cover your flaws—the sweet imperfections he adores. The sight of you dressed in one of his shirts, comforted by his scent, its fabric falling loose around your curves, your hair tied up in a messy bun with soft, baby hairs curled around your nape. If you had known he would come home so soon, you would’ve showered and made yourself more presentable for him, but Jinwoo loves you like this. This is the version of you that only he can see. You’re so unbelievably sexy in his eyes, and it just adds more gasoline to the scorching desire within him.
“Jinwoo, are you listening to me—ah!” An involuntary moan escapes you when he mouthes against your nape, his tongue pressing flat against your sensitive spot, your knees buckling at the sensation. He plants one kiss after another as he maps his way down to your shoulder, tugging on your collar just enough to reveal more of your skin. His kisses are no longer the featherlight ones he gave you before. They’re now laced heavily with lust, the thirst he’s been trying to constrain but failing every time. He tastes your skin, his teeth itching to sink in, disrupting your thoughts at once.
Your plate slips off your fingers before you grip tightly onto the sink, his hand slithering past the hem of your shirt, skating over your stomach and leaving fire at its trail. “Jinwoo, w-wait…”
“If you’re not gonna give me a kiss, Sweetheart,” he whispers, his lips grazing against the shell of your ear. “Maybe I should just steal it away.”
Before you can react, his fingers frame your jaw, forcing you to face him and claiming your lips at once. Your heart rate accelerates, his torso glued to your spine, and the second you moan into the kiss, he turns you over in his arms, his self-restraint thinning into a thread. Now fully facing him, you feel your body being pushed forward, the edge of the kitchen counter digging into your back as your husband recaptures your lips with his own, slanting them even deeper. He sighs into the kiss, pleased and relieved as if he had been on his best behavior all day and the taste of your mouth was the prize he’d been waiting for.
Taste of my mouth…?
Oh, no.
“W-wait, stop for a bit.” You place a hand on his chest, quickly ending the kiss and tossing your face to the side, embarrassed. “You shouldn’t kiss me. I taste like vomit—”
Jinwoo tugs you forward before you can end your sentence, his fingers clasping firmly against your wrist, keeping you under his control. He kisses you harder, fiercer, as if your little act of pushing him away elevated the hunger inside him. His free arm winds around your waist, guiding you closer to him until he can drown himself again in your warmth.
“Jinwoo—”
“Just one more.” He thumbs the edge of your mouth, parting your lips open for him despite you trying your best not to. A low grunt erupts from the back of his throat the second he has the chance to taste you a little bit more, his desire so insatiable that he grabs you by the back of your neck, holding your body possessively without leaving you the opportunity to escape. To him, your mouth tastes like ambrosia, and he can’t help but devour you the second he gets the chance.
“Sweet,” he moans softly against your mouth. “You taste so fucking sweet, baby.”
You almost whimper in response, your hands fisting against the front of his shirt. There’s something different about him today, this sense of urgency that takes hold of him like a vice. It makes your body ache with need, too, the need to have his mouth on you, on every place he can reach and more.
Screw it. You can get angry with him some other time. You wrap your arms around his neck, drawing him closer to you as if you wanted to fuse your bodies into one. The sweet sounds he makes grow louder, turn a pitch higher, and when he feels your fingers tugging on the roots of his hair, he almost growls, his teeth grinding against the side of your neck.
Amidst the heavy breaths, you can hear the sound of gushing water coming from behind. Right, the tap! I haven’t turned it off. “Wait, Jin—the water—mmph—” Your husband doesn’t let you speak, doesn’t want to let another second lay to waste, not after he spent the whole day—no, the whole month—waiting to touch you like this.
It’s not until your daughter (who you both seem to have forgotten, shame on you) tugs on the edge of his coat that you break away from each other, leaving the two of you standing with your faces flushed, your hairs disheveled, and your minds reeling.
“Daddy,” she gives it another pull, her lower lip jutted out in protest. The current babysitter in charge, a High Orc with a messy braid (courtesy of your daughter) and two huge, ivory fangs protruding from the bottom of his mouth, stands gawkily behind her, feeling awkward for interrupting… whatever the hell it was that was happening between you and his master. He then notices the running water, silently turning off the tap while sending you a look.
“T-thanks,” you say to the beast, ashamed. “I was… gonna get that.”
He simply nods, and thank goodness these High Orcs can’t speak because the line, “Mm-hmm, sure,” seems to be written all over his face.
Meanwhile, your husband, the one responsible for all of this, bends forward almost immediately, scooping your daughter up in his arms. “Oh, no, Daddy forgot to say hello to his little princess, didn’t he?” She nodded in response, her cheeks all puffed out. “I’m sorry, baby girl. I got distracted for a bit, but don’t worry. You have all my attention now.”
“All of it?”
“All of it,” he promises with a smile, sweet and soft, a stark contrast to the man he was just a few seconds before. “Do you want to give Daddy a kiss?”
With a happy chirp, his daughter leaned in almost immediately, brushing her plump lips once on each of his cheeks. “Again, again,” she says, planting another kiss between his eyebrows and a peck on his nose. Both of them grin happily at each other, rubbing the tips of their noses together as her giggles fill the spaces between you. “Welcome home, Daddy.”
No matter how often he’s heard it, his heart melts just the same every time she echoes those words with her angelic voice. “Thanks, Sweetie. Hey, listen.” Still carrying his daughter in his arms, Jinwoo whirls around to have her place her attention on you. “You wanna know why I forgot to greet you today?”
“Why?”
“Because Mommy was about to cry.”
Her doe eyes widen adorably as she gasps out, “She was?”
You restrain the urge to roll your eyes as your husband continues sprouting his bullshit. “Yes, she was. You see, she missed Daddy so much todaythat she felt like crying while doing the dishes.” Now that he says it like that, you can’t help but feel abashed. That was a bit pathetic, wasn’t it? “Daddy had no choice but to go and cheer her up. Isn’t that right, Mommy?”
Your hand itches to toss him another punch. “Oh, yes, God, I was so lonely,” you mutter in your best robotic voice, sarcasm lying thickly in your voice.
“See?” Jinwoo tosses you a shameless grin, amused by your reaction. No, not just that. Happy. “Mommy could barely live without me.”
“Mm. Barely.” You land a kick to the back of his shin. Of course, that does absolutely nothing to an S-Rank Hunter like him. If anything, it only makes him want to chaff at you even harder.
Fortunately for you, your daughter doesn’t seem like she’s seen the kisses you shared with your husband—or maybe she did, but she chose not to care. “Daddy, did you get cupcakes for me?”
“No, Sweetie, I’m sorry.” Your husband gently strokes her hair, tucking a few loose strands behind her ear. “I was in a rush on my way home.”
She blinks her eyes innocently. “Why?”
“Because Daddy misses you, of course,” Jinwoo smiles warmly, affectionately, the kind of fatherly smile that you didn’t think he could display so naturally on his lips when you first started dating him. “I missed you so much, Princess. I was thinking about you all the time during the raid that I could hardly concentrate.” Well, that and how you looked in your sexy nightgown, to be exact. “I was only gone for a few hours, but I just couldn’t wait to see you again. So, the second the gate was closed, I ran straight home.”
Teleported, you grumble inwardly with a snort, even when I’ve already told him not to.
“Is that why you got a cut on your cheek? Because you were distracted?” Your daughter questions him, staggering you.
What?
You quickly turn to your husband, examining his face with your eyebrows sewn in concern. Although it’s barely visible, it’s true. There’s a cut on his cheek, a thin line of crimson on his smooth, pasty skin, like an accidental brush of a pen on paper. This kind of injury is nothing and will naturally heal within a day or two, but still, it frightens you somehow that there’s a being out there who could lay a finger on him—on someone who’s supposed to be untouchable. You were certain that he was only clearing an A-rank dungeon today. Surely, it couldn’t have been so dangerous?
“Are you okay?” You ask him softly, almost motherly, carefully holding his face as if that little cut made his body a million times more fragile. “Are you hurt anywhere else?”
Jinwoo bites down on his lip as your anxiety grows. Is it so bad that it’s hard for him to say? You wonder worriedly. Of course, you don't realize in the slightest that he’s only catching it between his teeth because he’s afraid that his mischievous smile will break on his lips and give his plan away. Jinwoo has been craving to be loved, touched, and spoiled endlessly by you today. With you looking this concerned, he’s already walking the path of success. He’s not going to let his little grin betray him at the last minute.
“No, nowhere else, Sweetheart,” he says with a tender smile. “Just this one on my cheek. I’m okay, though. It doesn’t hurt. It’s just a cut.” Because that was all Beru could manage to do, he continues inwardly, almost releasing a disappointed sigh. Three chances. He gave that stupid ant three chances to wound his face as best as he could without putting any defense whatsoever, and this little cut on his face was all Beru could do. To be fair, knowing his immense durability and his tremendous physical strength, landing just a scratch itselfis considered a feat, but still… Had he had a bigger bruise blooming on his face, you’d take better care of him, wouldn’t you?
You breathe out in relief at his reply but continue to press further. It’s not a matter of pain; it’s the fact that there’s somebody out there who can lay a hand on him. What happens if it gets worse? What if he comes home with a wound next time instead of a cut? No, what if he doesn’t come home at all?
“Jinwoo…” You twine your fingers around his lean ones. “Did something happen in the ga—”
“IT WAS BECAUSE OF ME, MY QUEEN!” A voice suddenly bursts into your hearing, coming from a small, shadowy figure that seeps out from beneath your husband’s collar. It’s Beru, you realize, but shaped in a different form. Instead of taking his usual humanoid figure, he’s much smaller in size, a floating head with a pair of antennae, so tiny he could fit in your daughter’s palm.
“B-Beru?”
“Yes, my queen, it is I, Beru, your faithful servant,” the shadow soldier speaks. “With the deepest regret, I must confess that I have brought harm to our king’s heavenly face. To atone for my sins, I shall accept any punishment you bestow upon me, milady.”
Your frown only deepens.“Wait, I don’t understand. What happened exactly?”
The shadow seems to fidget. “H-Half an hour ago, inside the gate, my liege requested me to—”
“Beru got distracted during the fight,” Jinwoo explains casually, cutting him off so smoothly with his smile intact. “I got this cut when I tried to save him. Isn’t that right,” he turns his head slightly to the side to face the shadow, his eyes gleaming eerily like a purple moon in a pitch-black sky, his voice turning an octave lower, “Beru?”
You can hear the shadow whimper in horror before it flies back to his collar, hiding behind the fabric. Your eyes narrow suspiciously. “Why is Beru acting weird?”
“When is he not acting weird?” Your husband responds nonchalantly. You can’t trust him when he’s smirking like this. No matter how good he looks with it, you can’t. You shouldn’t.
“I’ll put a bandaid on it, Daddy!” Your daughter chirps before jumping away from his arms, rushing to get the first aid kit. When she returns with the box, running toward her father with her little feet, Jinwoo kneels before her. His smile, his posture, the soft look on his face—everything reminds you of the prince in your daughter’s storybook, the one she’s fallen hopelessly in love with.
No wonder she loves her daddy so much, you think fondly to yourself, your heart thawing at the sight of your daughter applying a bandaid to his cheek. She looks so serious as she does it, mustering all her brain power to ensure she covers the cut perfectly. Once she’s done, she plants a kiss over it, sweet and adorable. “There, there.” She pats his cheek. “You’re all better now.”
Jinwoo’s face radiates with joy, but the bow of his lips remains sweet and tender as always. “Thank you, Princess.”
“You’re welcome, Daddy.” She pecks his nose once before she tugs on his hand. “Now, come on! Let’s have a tea party! You can be the queen, and I’ll be the princess, and Mr. Whiskers can be the king!”
“Right now?” Jinwoo chuckles, a hint of exhaustion in his voice. He has the energy to play with you all night, but having tea parties with an overexcited toddler can be quite draining indeed, especially when he has to play the role of a noblewoman—who’s married to a cat, for some reason—to keep her entertained. “Can Daddy take a shower first?”
“No! The tea will get cold if you do that!”
“All right, all right. Can I, at least, play a more masculine role this time? A prince, maybe?”
“No, we need to have a queen in the story!”
“Why can't Mommy be the queen, then?”
“Because Mommy is busy doing her chores,” you answer with a mischievous twinkle in your eyes, completely ignoring the pleading look your husband is sending you. "Remember to use your girly voice, Husband.”
Jinwoo squints his eyes at you. "Is this your payback from earlier?”
You flaunt your coquettish grin. “Maybe.”
He sighs despite his little smile threatening to crawl back to his lips. "You're lucky I love you, Sweetheart.”
“Daddy, come on!” She hops on her feet, tugging him even further toward the living room. “And you too, Orky, hurry up! You’re the maid. You need to serve us some cake!”
The High Orc releases a sigh. Tossing his messy braid over his shoulder, he retrieves his apron from the counter—one that you’d sewn yourself for him as a gift for being an exceptionally patient babysitter—and follows after their steps.
To anyone else’s eyes, the sight of South Korea’s 10th S-Rank Hunter, a fluffy yet somewhat demonic cat, a brawny High Orc, and a toddler with messy pigtails having a tea party on a tiny plastic table in your living room might be too absurd to take in, but this is just an everyday scenery in your lovely home. Even so, you’ll never take this for granted. The sense of relief of being safe and sound, the happiness of being together, the warmth that spreads right to your center…. These are the things that you pray every night to last forever.
And it is something that Sung Jinwoo protects more than the universe itself. ***
A sigh slips out of you as you slide underneath the blanket, the bed’s soft and almost heaven-like the moment you lie down. It has been an exhausting day, and you still haven’t gotten to bring much food into your system. Tomorrow will be better, you convince yourself. Hopefully, all the healthy juice and vitamins you’ve consumed throughout the day could replenish the nutrients your baby needs.
The bathroom door clicks open, shining light into an otherwise dimmed room. Steams of hot water cloud the room as your husband steps out with a towel hanging over his head. He’s dressed in nothing but his black sweatpants, his body lean and toned, still glistening with water. He’s mesmerizing as always and effortlessly so. You avert your gaze away, however, as you don’t want to give him the satisfaction of being ogled at and have him tease you about it all night—because he definitely will if he catches you drooling at the sight. He’s done that before, and he’s only eager to do it again.
Jinwoo exhales as he sits on the edge of the bed, sounding just as tired as you are. Little did you know that this was just an act to have you indulge him in more ways than one until his thirst for your affection was quenched.
You roll around to face him, lying on your side and making a pillow out of your arm. “Long day at work?”
“Just a little,” he answers. You notice how water droplets are still dripping from his hair, drenching his shoulders and… rolling down his… broad, muscular back…
You swallow, forcing yourself not to stare—not too much, at least—at how the muscles in his shoulder blades contort when he lifts his hand to rub the towel against his hair but damn it, it is getting very distracting. You can’t help it, really. It’s just been so long since you two have been intimate with each other, and that… session you had with him in the kitchen only made your longing for him a million times worse. “You do look more weary than usual. Did the bath help? I used the expensive bath salts for you.”
He chuckles, “Yeah, it was relaxing. We should’ve taken a bath together.”
“We wouldn’t have been relaxing if we bathed together.”
“Really?” He arches an eyebrow suggestively. “And why is that?”
Your voice reduces to a mumble when you reply, “You know why.”
His little smirk tells you that yes, he does know, but he just wants to see you grimacing from shame when you say it out loud. “Were you worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands to myself?”
The truth was, you were worried that you wouldn’t be able to, but your husband doesn’t need to know about that. “Isn’t that exactly what happened last time?”
“Only because you didn’t ask me to behave,” he cocks his head to the side, his lips curving devilishly. “You should’ve asked me to be a good boy for you, Sweetheart. I wouldn’t have touched you if that was the case. And I always keep my promise, you know that.”
Oh, he does, all right. The same way he did during your honeymoon phase when he promised you that he wouldn't stop fucking you until the sun came out. Underestimating his stamina was the biggest mistake of your life. He had your legs trembling so badly the following day, you had to call off work.
But that’s it, isn’t it? That's exactly what you want to happen right here, right now. Jinwoo has been so considerate of your pregnancy that he decided to put a leash on himself. It’s a sweet thing for him to do, but sometimes, you just wish he’d tear it apart and set himself free. It would be nice if he could just be a little rough with you right now, not caring too much about how you feel and just focusing on what he wanted to do. But he’s not that kind of man, and that’s why you married him.
Despite his aloof, stoic demeanor and how vicious he can be during battles, he’s the most gentle lover you’ve ever been with, especially when he knows you’re not ready to deal with anything like that yet, both physically and emotionally (or so he thought). He’s truly all a woman could look for in a husband. Protective and strong. Loving. Caring. Treating you with the same amount of tenderness as he treats his own mother. But, still, a slight change wouldn’t be too bad, would it? If he could just be a little selfish in bed today, succumbing to his desire to touch you and make love to you without restraint… That would be nice, right?
“Baby, you okay?”
His deep voice startles you, dragging you out of your stupor. “Yeah, I was just, umm…” You clear your throat, heat filling your cheeks. “Your hair’s dripping. Want me to help you dry it off?”
His lips part in what seems to be surprise before he wrings them together into a smile. First mission, clear, he claims triumphantly in his head. “If it’s not too much trouble.”
“Of course not.” You make your way toward him, your legs sliding against the sheets before you kneel behind him, giving his shoulders a little squeeze. “You’re my husband. It makes me happy when I get to take care of you, especially when you’ve worked so hard all day.”
“Mm. Yeah. I’ve worked so hard today.”
Oblivious to the demonic cackle he’s trying to bite down, you step down from the bed, searching for the hair dryer you stored inside the drawer. Jinwoo waits in silence, leaning back with two hands propping his weight on the sheets behind him, his legs spread wide open. His eyes roam over your body, following every curve and dip, his fingers itching to just tear your nightgown away and replace every inch of satin with the softness of his kiss and the heat of his desire.
You notice the way his hooded eyes cascade to the valley between your breasts as you walk toward him, your stomach swirling at this thrilling thought of being so physically wanted. With how he chews on his bottom lip as he gazes at you, his thoughts wandering to places they shouldn’t be, he makes you feel like you’re the prettiest woman in the world, a goddess he’s so close to touch and taste, yet the heaven forbids him for it.
“My eyes are up here, Husband.”
He lets his gaze linger for one more second before they flick back to you. “I know,” he smirks, shameless. After watching you plug your hairdryer in the nearest socket, he gestures you to come close and settle yourself between his legs, his smile welcoming—no, inviting. “Come here,” he suggests with a couple of pats on his thigh.
You know what he’s asking, and God, you want to just give in and obey whatever he commands you to, but you decide to ignore him at the last second. Sitting on his lap right now when you’re nearly consumed by this aching need to be touched is just too risky. You have to be careful if you don’t want to appear so… needy.
“Sometimes I think you’re not older than five. Look at how wet your hair is.” You reprimand him playfully as you try to shake away the excess water from his hair with his towel. You let yourself move closer to him, standing between his legs, your face hovering close enough to entice him but not enough for him to feel the sweetness of your breath caressing his skin. “Did you even use your towel? You’re still soaked and—”
Your line ends shortly in a yelp when Jinwoo easily lifts your body with one arm coiled around your waist, placing you down on one of his thighs. He lets his arm linger protectively around you, making sure to keep you safe and secure on his lap. “Comfortable, Sweetheart?” He asks with a puckish grin.
No, it’s not comfortable. It’s torturous.
See, the thing is, it’s easy for you to touch him first, to reach out and kiss him and explore his mouth until he groans and has no choice but to take you. But the last time you approached him first, the last time you were so clingy, and needy, and just desperate for his touch, it boosted his ego so much that he ended up smirking every time he saw you. For the whole fucking week, that is. He didn’t even say anything when you asked him with a suspicious glare, “Why do you keep smirking at me like that?” He’d just shrug and continue to smirk even more, and it annoyed you—flustered you—terribly because the words, “Nothing, I just keep remembering how cute you looked when you were begging me the other day,” were painted vividly all over his face. You’re not going to give him that satisfaction again. Never.
If he wants to make love to you tonight, if he wants to even touch you for a bit, he’s going to have to ask for it.
But when he looks this fucking handsome with his mysterious, sapphire-like eyes, his hair wet and pushed back by your hand, his lips slightly parted as if he was waiting for yours to close the space between them… It takes you everything not to fall in his arms.
Despite all these thoughts gyrating in your head, screaming to be turned into actions, you keep yourself composed on the outside; your stare remains flat. “Do I really have to dry your hair like this? While sitting on your thigh?”
“What, I just don’t want my pregnant wife to get tired from standing too long,” he argues, a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. “It makes me happy when I get to take care of my wife, too, you know.” His eyes droop a little as he says the line, and fuck, fuck, he definitely just stole a glance at your lips there.
This little devil. “I know you didn’t use your towel. You’ve been plotting this whole thing right from the start.”
“Plotting is such a dramatic word,” Jinwoo replies, followed by a small laughter. “I just want my wife to spoil me for a bit.” He places a hand on your leg, his thumb rubbing against your inner thigh. It brushes against the hem of your gown as he purrs, “Is that so wrong, Sweetheart?” You watch his digit slip underneath the fabric, never going further up, aiming just to tease. “For your husband to ask his wife for some love?”
Even just that already causes you to swallow your breath. “I think I’ve loved you enough today.”
“Hmm, I don't know.” He leans close to your ear, his warm, minty breath swaying your soft strands with each word spoken. “I’m a bit greedy, after all. I might need you to pamper me all night long.”
Your head swirls under temptation but you keep yourself strong. You return the safe distance between you, placing a hand on his… bare chest. God, he needs to put on some shirt. “You could’ve just asked me to dry your hair instead of drenching the sheets.”
His little smile, the way he’s tilting his head slightly to the side, staring at you with his eyes turning all soft, lost in your own… Curse you, Sung Jinwoo. “You’re right, sorry.” He’s not sorry. He’s already planning to drench the sheets in one way or another, you can tell, and you’re excited about it. Though it won’t take long for that excitement to turn into frustration with the way he keeps touching you but not actually touching you.
Why won’t he just do it? Why won’t he just say that he misses me as much as I miss him, wants me—no, needs me as much as I need him? It would’ve saved us a lot of time if he could just kiss me right now.
What you don’t know is that, from his side, your husband isn’t really seeking a chance to make love to you tonight. He wants to—God, only heaven knows just how much he wants to devour you right now—but he won’t force you to do something so physically straining when you already look so weary. Still, he needs to touch you today, to explore you, to taste you, or otherwise, he’ll just lose his mind. He doesn’t even care if he gets no relief himself. He just needs to be with you in that way, but being the little shit that he is, he wants to tease you about it. After all, what makes your sex life so fun and adventurous is this little game you always play, seeing who’s going to yield to their desire first, and start begging the other for mercy.
So far, Jinwoo is winning, but that doesn’t mean you can’t turn the tides. “Come on. Let’s dry your hair.”
“Mm.” Jinwoo lowers his head (yes, even when you’re sitting on his thigh; he’s still taller than you), cutely nuzzling his face against the juncture between your neck and shoulder. “I’ll be in your care, Noona.”
N-Noona?! Your face catches on fire. Turning the tides has never been so difficult. It’s been years since he last called you that way that you’ve forgotten just how easily he could make your heartbeat soar with merely a single word. You’re only a year older than him, which is not a big deal, but he surely takes it to his advantage—an effective way to cause your stomach to flip with every call.
“Hmm? What’s wrong, Noona?”
Stay calm, stay calm. “Nothing.” Exhaling a bit too harshly, you switch on your hairdryer and draw it closer to his hair, your fingers carding through the locks, sometimes ruffling them. He smiles to himself, looking all pleased and giddy—well, as giddy as someone as cool as Sung Jinwoo could be. Seeing how he leans further into your touch, silently pleading for another touch the same way a little boy would ask for praise, you can’t help but feel your heart flutter at the sight. How can a 190cm tall, muscular S-Rank Hunter—the Lord of the Undead himself—be so adorable?
“You’re like a dog,” you comment with a hint of mirth in your voice, “wanting to be petted.”
Jinwoo responds by playfully trying to bite your hand, clamping his teeth together, his pointy fangs bared. And you wish he had. You wish he’d sink his teeth into your skin, leaving marks on you again after so long. He always does that in bed, doesn’t he? Leaving love bites all over your neck, his teeth grinding against your shoulder as he drove himself in and out of you. It was as if he wanted to remind you again and again that you were his, only his, to give himself the satisfaction of knowing that he was the only man who you’d allow to do whatever he wanted with your body.
And when he gets rough… When he turns feral in bed because you just rile him up so much… When he flips you over to your stomach, one hand binding both of your wrists together before he presses his weight onto you—
“You’re stopping again,” Jinwoo says with a coy smile. “What are you thinking about, Sweetheart?”
You, fucking me from behind. “N-nothing.” You work your hand; your movement’s no longer as poised.
“Doesn’t sound like nothing,” he simpers.
“Oh, shut up. I’m just thinking about…” Think quickly, think quickly, think quickly. “Your hair.”
"What about it?”
“It’s just… really soft. Surprisingly soft.” It amazes you how you manage to keep yourself composed with those filthy thoughts raging like a storm in your head. You continue to ruffle his hair, shaking the water away. “Fluffy, even.”
“You say that as if you’d never touched my hair before,” he titters softly. His eyes then flick back to yours, the blue in them sketched thickly with the desire he’s been trying to rein in. “When you’ve done so much more than that.”
You don’t know what drives you to do it—perhaps it’s some kind of reflex as the sultry nights you’d spent with his head trapped between your legs comes to your recollection—but you yank on his strands, and he lets out this low, deep groan from the back of his throat, his gaze turning dark and heavy when he warns, “Careful, Sweetheart.”
He’s not reminding you to be gentle, not at all. He’s warning you not to push his buttons more than you already do. He’s already suffering as it is, trying to hold himself back from having his way with you, and you tugging on his roots like this, reminding him of all those times when you were pleading for him to thrust his tongue deep inside your core, is not helping.
“Then, don’t make it weird,” you reciprocate with a little pinch on his nose. After combing your fingers through his hair one last time, you switch off the hairdryer. “Done. You’re all dry now.” You return to your feet, itching to get away from him before you’re swallowed by the urge to yank his hair back again and latch your mouth against his throat. “Let me tidy this up first and—”
Your sentence ends in a short gasp when his arms tangle around your waist once more, and the next time you blink, you find yourself pinned down to the bed, his knee placed just between your thighs, dangerously close to your core. His face hovers just above yours, his lips twitching into a smirk as he gazes down at you with a hint of naughtiness in his eyes.
“Thank you,” he says, leaning in until the tips of your noses are mere millimeters away from brushing against each other. “Making my favorite food for dinner. Preparing my bath and drying my hair. You’ve been so good to me today.” With your chin trapped between lean fingers, he angles your head to the side, his breath fanning the skin below your ear. “I think my sweet girl deserves a little reward.” His voice is beyond seductive, awakening all the butterflies inside you. “Tell me what you want, baby. Let me take care of you this time.”
You grip the sheets underneath you, your heart thumping in anticipation. “I can ask for... anything?”
He chuckles, the sound low and tantalizing, his nose probing against the pulsating vein on your neck. “Anything.”
You swallow thickly, a thousand different wishes bursting into your head at once.
“T-then… I want you to…” ***

[ MINORS DO NOT INTERACT. By interacting with this post you are fully aware that this is a work of fiction for 18+ readers.]
╰┈➤ ❝ [ I want you in my Blood Veins ] ¡! ❞
"Ngh.. Haa... Jinwoo please" You beg, gasping pathetically as you fumble around on the sheets that felt damp from the frequency of your activities with you lover. "I can't..."
"Yes, you can." Jinwoo purs against your ear, suckling gently on the shell of your ear as he continously pistons you from behind.
How many rounds has it even been since you both started?
The last time you were able to count it was fifteen.
Someway along the way way you had lost count from the fog that overwhelmed your brain with how insatiable this bastard is.
He came from work and then suddenly he's fucking you like he didn't do it last week.
Is Sung Jinwoo losing his fucking mind?
With his cock inside you?
Fuck Yes.
God, did he have to be so big?
Each time it feels like you're a virgin with how girthy he is. The veins poppingon the skin brushing inside you walls is driving you absolutely insane.
How can he get so big in such a short amount of time even?
Sung Jinwoo is not even human at this point.
"Hic!..." He groans, thrusting once more as he buries himself into you— And you swear his cockhead is kissing your cervix right now.
"J-jinwoo... Have mercy." You drool on the pillow, completely fucked out of your mind as you once again feel so lightheaded with the thick and creamy release flooding your insides.
the uterus is normally pink, but yours right now must be white.
"I'm not even done yet, sarang" Jinwoo purrs sadistically, pulling out and then flipping you over on your back so he can admire the mess he made.
"Look at you" He muses, swiping his thumb on your parted lips. "So pretty like this, how can you expect me to control myself?"
Hair sprayed on his pillows, your cute and swollen pink pussy overflowing with his semen, your releases mixed together in his sheets— How can he resist? How can a man like him be calm when the love of his life is this perfect and fuckable?
He praises you with sweet nothings as he once again slides inside your already sensitive insides as if he wants you with a child by the time he's done with you.
"Ah, fuck" Jinwoo groans as he leans his head back while thrusting in and out like a fucking animal.
Such a brutally beautiful man this psycho is.
You swear your eyes must be dilating into hearts shapes at this moment with the sight of his slicked back hair from the amount of sweat he is producing. His defined adam's apple is bobbing up and down over and over,
Those scars on his wondserful skin, those lovely and strong pecks littered with your nibbles and bite marks, those hazy grey eyes who can only see you in the midst of all this madness and debauchery—
You are just as clouded with lust as this man, you hypocrite.
So, your legs wrap around his waist no matter how limp you already are from the countless rounds and the sticky feeling originating from your overflowing core.
Really, you don't mind even if this bastard fucks you until sunrise♡.

ÞŘỊPŁƏ ẄŒØ
A/n: As much as we all love current Jinwoo, every version of Jinwoo is precious. And SO!
All Jinwoos have romantic feelings for you but not for each other cause they're the same person.
Triple Sung Jinwoo x Fem!Adult!Reader
CW: MANWHA SPOILERS INSIDE! SPOILER ALERT: There will be a PT 2 to this one shot cause this got kinda long. So there's that.
BIG TIME What if AU. Angst, hurt/comfort, depression, chronic problems, sleeping anxiety.
NO PLAGARIZING, REPOSTING, TRANSLATING, USE OF MY FANFIC WORK IN AI STUFF ALLOWED. REBLOG, LIKE AND FOLLOW INSTEAD PLS N THNX.

You never imagined you'd become the light of your angel's life. You still have days when you think that it's all been one long dream and you'd wake up back in that grey lonely life you never want to go back to.
But no, waking up that afternoon in your shared spacious bedroom. Rolling in that King sized bed to detect his side had his scent lingering still. But empty. Meaning he hadn't returned from his guild work from yesterday.
The sound of the front door to your shared home opening got your heart racing with joy at the chance to see your dear Monarch again.
And yet, the ensuing situation that followed suit really did feel like walking into a dream. An unusual one at that, sure. But also quite intriguing.
“Neither a curse nor a status debuff, my ass. You'd think these new Monarch powers could undo this side effect?” The tallest Jinwoo grumbled under his breath, brushing back his hair in frustration, pacing back and forth in the living room.
“How are we supposed to be out in public now? Handle the guild? Seeing our folks? Our secret will be found out at this rate!” Post reawakened Jinwoo griped, pinning you in between him and pre reawakened Jinwoo like a sandwich, to your dopey smiling satisfaction.
“In any case, I'll be the one visiting the guild for those matters. Otherwise, you and I will tackle the dungeons ourselves, alone.”
“H-Hang on! Why should I be left behind?! I'm no male housewife!” Starter Jinwoo whined.
“Yeah, don't kid yourself, squirt.” Monarch Jinwoo ruffled his unruly mop of hair affectionately, his baby faced counterparts pouting and puffed up cheeks proving his point.
“Aw, please don't leave me alone.” You nuzzled his pink dusted face like a needy cat, that got him melting up.
“Uh – I – o – okay~” His bashful smile got you planting a big ol smooch on his lips. He couldn't stop smiling as he swooned over your lap.
Jinwoo #2 glared, a vein popping up on his head. “Hey, it's not fair he gets to hog our sweetheart all to himself all day while we have to work.”
“With no reawakening, he can't level up so he'd be putting himself at Death's door again like before. If even one of us dies, we'll all die and leave our family behind, including our beloved here. And they won't be defenseless.” King Jinwoo explained.
The sight of Beru appearing out of your Shadow got Jinwoo#1 trembling from fear instinctively at the imposing entity when Monarch Jinwoo stood between you two and his General.
“Should any harm come to these two, like getting distracted by your period dramas, you know what will happen, don't you?” The deadly gaze of his King spoke doom for the former Ant King.
Shadow Preservation will let him know the moment Beru fumbles.
“Yes, I do, my liege! I will not let you down! And if I fail, I will gladly accept my punishment! But please give me a chance to prove my usefulness to you all!” Beru weeped before his liege dismissed him, meshing into the shadow of —
“Jinwoo mochi.”
“ … Eh?” All three sweat dropped in sync.
The action of cupping OG Jinwoo's supple cheeks, kneading and pinching and rubbing your thumbs in circles on such pure smoothness had your eyes sparkle in wonder and your hums of content heard behind your smitten grin. The visual of pre Jinwoo's face going from pale to rosey red as his grey blue eyes had spirals of tipsy dazeness, incomprehensible sounds spilling out of his dopey smile.
“You are so fucking cute, I can't stand it!” Your playful growling as you indeed began chewing on his cheeks got his nervous laughs rumbling into your chest next, his heart in overdrive, matching beat for beat with yours.
The steamy blow of air through their noses was one warning signal that the other two Jinwoo were irked — envy molten auras in blue and purple another sign — that baby-faced them was getting your current attention.
“Don't you dare forget about me, beautiful~” Jinwoo the 2nd cockily purred in your ear, plopping behind you on the couch, nipping at your nape, his nose dotingly rubbing your cheek, keeping you struggling between focus on both bois.
“I'll engrave myself in your mind then~” The effortlessly hot deepness of King Jinwoo’s inflection had him gently grip your chin to raise your face to meet him over the couch in quite a devouring kiss.
“Hey, sharing is caring, you sneaky bastards!” Baby Jinwoo shrilled up. Breaking free just to save your deprived lungs, an all out argument between all three ensued, your light headed self slacking against the couch.
The cacophony of range these three voices could go filled in your now lively place.
And so, then began this unexpected arc in the story of you and Jinwoo times three.
Pre-reawakened Jinwoo.
While the other two would do their dungeon raids together, that meant you'd spend most of your time with him.
Stuck at home together meant you teaming up to manage it, whether that be folding laundry to even cook together. If you don't really cook, he's more than happy to teach you. Having his hands layer yours, pressed up against you from behind, is the best feeling. Course he'd melt in a puddle shortly after.
Taking walks together outdoors meant holding hands or intertwined arms as you spent hours chatting about anything, mesmerized in each other's eyes while admiring the flora and fauna of nature.
“Okay, I am the male wife.” He mumbled in surrender, slumping against you, both of you in your casual tees and shorts, binging your favorites together in the living room while sharing your snacks together one lazy day.
“He admits it!” You exclaimed dramatically, ruffling his already unruly shaggy mop to his giggling delight.
“I know I'm not like the other mes… but I will do my best to make you happy. I'll do anything for you. I love you with all my heart, saarang.”
You easily top him over, laying atop him, your bedroom eyes conjuring hearts in his grey blue irises. “Then I'll make sure you're reminded each and every day that you're just as well loved. You're all mine now, baby girl~”
His drawn out squeak was the only sign of him still alive from the embarrassment, slacking in your arms like a limp noodle.
He's the easiest to mess with, all out of love.
Post reawakened Jinwoo, still an E-rank.
You did most of your outings into the city with him. Usually he goes incognito, whether in caps and a face mask or keeping his hoodie on, hoping not to be spotted and mistaken for his S-rank self.
You both did the buying, groceries and window shopping. Your phone gallery was chock full of selfies with you and your bashful grinning hunter.
While Tank became his assigned Shadow in the meantime, he could serve as transport. But only when it was just you two around or unless it's an emergency. Besides, he still has his own speed skills. Hence, giving you piggyback rides before zipping away in a flash, leaving folk wandering nearby nearly falling over from the sudden strong gusts of winds he left in his wake. His cheeky grin looking back at you took your breath away.
Joining him in on his daily quest workouts nearly do you in, your physically ailing limits being the root cause. Your legs turn to jelly as you nearly collapse from fatigue but your dashing hunter lover makes sure to catch you in his arms, holding you tightly while riding on Tank for the trek back home.
While you can openly tease and mess with him, he's on even footing with you, even more so.
“It's a pain to be split in three and not knowing how long it'll last, so having you with me is a blessing. Now tell me, what will it take for you to make me the best Sung Jinwoo in your eyes? Come on, honey, let your angel Woo you over~”
That cheesy pun out of the blue sent you buckling over in bouts of laughter, nearly falling over but his arms enveloping you kept you standing within his grasp. “Wow. Can't believe that actually worked,” He murmured in astonishment, grinning confidently in response. “She has Sung her approval~!”
That got you cackling, clutching your aching tummy, as more puns came your way to leave you a breathless mess that went beyond his expectations, utterly convinced to be more silly from that point on, even after he hopefully becomes whole again.
And Shadow Monarch Jinwoo, the tenth S-rank hunter in Korea and the head of his own guild, is hands down the most possessive over you. The rare moments you get alone with him happen in his own private office when he takes you to work with him.
The selfie of him putting you in an explicit headlock rivaled every single photo you took with his reawakened past self. His vibrant violet eyes on his smug smirking face littered by your lipstick smooches, your blushing squished cheeks, those veins along that flexing bicep smothering your lip smeared shameless face.
Making a group chat with just the Jinwoos proved a bad call when the other two were driven up the wall with envy at their superior version laying claim to you when they weren't around. The stream of emojis from Jinwoo 1 merging with the countless threats from Jinwoo 2 made big boss Jin darkly chuckle in the entertaining response, the mirthful twinkle in his eyes rippling from spotting you red in the face like mush in his big leather desk chair.
Unwinding from the stress of his guild master duties and keeping face with his colleagues and family while also having to wait out however long this three in one problem will last. Taking rides together on Kaisel gave you both a much needed breath of fresh air. Updating you on pupil Jinwoo's progress leveling up although the Gates turn red whenever he joins in said gate all to challenge him. He assures you immensely that he ensures his other self’s safety while sharing the EXP.
“Sharing you with my other selves has been quite the test for my tolerance.” Tugging insistently on his tie, the taut muscle definition of his upper chest peaked out, his neck flexing those veins, flaring his collar out in the process. “However, I am resolved to remind them just who truly is in charge here.” Pinning you literally on top of his desk came just as quick as you did already feeling him brush up against your valley. “Including you~”
Chronic problems plagued your form. Daily migraines, tense knots in your neck, the works. Regardless of which Jinwoo does it, massages always come your way. Whether resting your head on their lap or laying down on the bed, you melted from their shared skill touch.
Of course not every day is sunshine and rainbows. With chronic issues also came depression. Of course, all three dudes come to an agreement on equally giving you space to unwind as well as teaming up to give you all their affection.
Jinwoo #1 gifts you single flowers that grew surrounding your home, placing them behind your ear after presenting you one each day. Home-cooked meals are a given at this point, keeping in mind your allergies and dietary restrictions should you have any. He helps prepare salt baths that you more than invite him to join you to keep your clingy self company. And he lends his hoodie for comfort on those moody grey days.
Jinwoo #2 gifts you during your shopping sprees together, purchasing plushies and apparel to even getting fried chicken that you make sure you have enough to share with all your bois at home. You and him game together when he comes home early from raiding. Although his fatigue relief skill kicked in, he still deflated in your embrace welcoming him back home in the foyer, nuzzling your adorable face like a needy feline himself. Plus, his rambunctious commentary sends you into a wheezing mess, handing him easy wins. The times you did dethrone him resulted in his stubborn self knowing he could do better, challenging you for another round.
Jinwoo #3 is the one most able to give you anything your heart desires. With such influence and connections on top of his limitless abilities as the reincarnated Monarch, he would make anything possible. But considering he was the busiest out of the three, all you really wanted was to spend more time together. He still gifted you the same items as his other selves, but he made sure to include a fancy dinner and a dance among the stars as an inviting bonus.
Sleep anxiety is also a struggle you face. Incidents from your dreary past late at night left their scars. So taking naps now and then throughout the day after sleeping in the morning was your norm.
Even now, comfortably sleeping through the night is difficult, anxiety making you uncomfortable on edge for the unpredictable and unknown.
One step, one night at a time, the secure embrace giving you reassuring squeezes in bed reminding you you weren't alone. Whichever Jinwoo it is, they all are perfect bedmates. Their cooing words became your ASMR.
“Ssh. There there. I'm right here. Listen to my breathing, my heart, my voice. You can rest easy now, sweetheart.”
Kissing your teary face and letting you rest on their cozy warm chests as they rubbed comforting circles along your back, the combined sensations slowly aided in your sleep, however long or short.
So returning the favor only made sense.
All three Jinwoos suffered from nightmares. Mostly Jinwoo #1. Night terrors were his own sleep struggle throughout this story arc. Especially from dreams of the Double Dungeon. Breaking out in a cold sweat, tossing and turning, whimpering and weeping, before screaming out in awakening, heaving haphazardly, desperately reaching his hands out to you, clinging to you like the lifeline you are. Especially on nights when your other Jins’ are still out due to whatever reason.
Singing a lullaby song you heard from a show that really stuck with you helped a great deal in calming him down. Cradling him in your arms, brushing through those sweat matted bangs, your voice was the angel of music gracing his ears. It's too mesmerizing to ignore.
“You're okay. You're alright. I'll never ever leave your side. I will stay and I will fight with you~”
Unbeknownst to you two, Beru's shadow linked to both versions of his master, Jinwoo #3 swoons over your heavenly voice, smiling like a lovesick fool, Jinho silently hoping they finish work early so his big bro can get back to you, his one and only.
“Please don't leave me. Please stay, Y/n.” Your Jin baby's wish gets granted by your doting, utilizing the same exact methods they use to treat your night troubles.
Jinwoo 2 is less vocal when he wakes up from bad dreams. Yet you feel a sturdy heat envelope around you. His endearing gaze grew the more he stared at your peaceful face, his stare blurring from warm wetness, blinking them back before pecking your forehead. “You're my dream come true~” He whispers lovingly in your ear before cuddling up against your precious self, tears actually shed as you return the hug through your slumber, thoughts of you and only you lulling him into good old dream land.
Now Jinwoo 3 is something else. He usually sits up, lost in thought for a bit, before heading to the kitchen for a mug of water and maybe even preparing some food to keep him busy. And every time, he could feel you arising, finding him, and joining him all so he wouldn't be alone. He'd do the same for you. They all would, absolutely.
You can hear the aching vulnerability trembling with each breath he took as his towering frame draped over you, his shoulders shaking as his hands clawed at your back, your very existence grounding him in the here and now.
“Parts of me will never be the same, not after all I've done … yet you still choose me. How did I ever deserve you, huh?” His nose caresses yours, rocking with you side to side, as his submerging look sunk its hold upon your trembling soul. “Y/n, you truly are something else. My safe haven~”
While having three Jinwoos is indeed a handful, seeing every part of him that make up who he is reminds you of his empathy, sympathy, cleverness, tactfulness, and brilliance.
But you too hope that your three darlings become whole again soon.
And soon enough, at last, your shared prayers were finally heard.
The solution to this dilemma?
Well ...
What do you think~?

Infatuation Series

Summary: Small snippets and cute scenes on your crush on Sung Jinwoo and how Sung Jinwoo courts and wins over you in high school after using the cup of reincarnation.
His sole purpose in this life is to win your heart, become your faithful husband, and have you be the mother of his children. No one else but you. (Mini chapters)
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything except for my characters and plot.
Warning/Genre: OOC, Romance, fluff, high school life (Sorry for the miss grammar)

Chapter 1: Chances
Lately, you have been too flustered for your own good but that’s because you’ve started liking someone.
In a classroom filled with students, the sound of pens scratching on paper echoed as students took notes while listening to their teacher.
Some people were diligent, some were dozing off and some were distracted, and you were among them.
Twirling your pen in one hand and leaning on the other, you did your best to listen to the lesson.
However, the calm spring breeze coming through the window seemed to lull you, and your mind gradually began to drift away.
Slowly, your eyes were closing.
Just as you were about to nod off, you caught yourself and quickly straightened up. Opening the back of your notebook you opted to doodle so you won't fall asleep.
It begins with a flower, followed by a bear, a knight's helmet, dragon wings, a dagger and various other unusual and unrelated items until finally you unconsciously draw a chibi version of him.
You felt your cheeks heat up.
Sung Jinwoo.
A second-year student in your high school, whom you started liking recently.
He was your senior by a year as you were in your first year. He was one of the handsome, popular and competent students in your school that most girls fawn over and for boys to idolize.
Like most girls in your school, you were no different from them, who accidentally glanced at him and were instantly smitten.
Foolishly and stupidly smitten.
You didn't know why, but after catching a glimpse of his soft black hair reminiscent of the night, his slender yet beautiful grey eyes, framed by long eyelashes, and his lips, which had a slight reddish tint.
That day, a deep sense of familiarity surged within you. Those feelings captured you and he entangled you with his very being without hesitation.
Even to this day, just remember that moment and how your eyes met made your body heat up, your cheeks flush and a deep aching echo inside you.
Finishing your doodle, you took a moment to admire your drawing of him.
Even though it's just a silly drawing, you couldn't help but caress his small face. A sweet smile appeared on your lips before shaking your head, catching yourself.
Looking at the front, you let out a sigh of relief when you saw that the teacher and your classmates didn't catch you making a silly face out of nowhere and were focused on the lesson instead.
You didn't want anyone, particularly your teacher, to catch you daydreaming especially when your mind wandered toward your silly little crush or else with just a slip everyone in your school would talk about it no doubt and soon he would hear about it.
Just imagining his uncomfortable expression made you shudder, scared and embarrassed.
There's no way you would be able to endure such humiliation if such a thing were ever to happen.
Slapping yourself awake, you flip your notes back and resume jotting down points.
Soon the bell rang, signalling for a break.
You gratefully took the time to stretch your stiff body, worn from sitting in class for almost half of the day. Hearing your bones crack, you let out a sigh of relief, you turn toward your friend before happily inviting her to go out and buy some snacks.
Walking down the hallways while talking to your friend, you furtively give a few glances at his classroom as you pass it. Hoping to catch a glance of him.
However, it seems that luck wasn't on your side, as you didn't even see a glimpse of his clothes. A sense of sadness envelops you, leaving you disheartened.
Unfortunately, you weren’t in the same class or year as him so there were only a few times when you could see him.
Although you envy the students that were in the same year as him, that didn’t dismay you from time to time to wander the hallways of his classroom to try to catch sight of him.
This was one of the few times you hoped to see him, but it seemed the gods were not in your favour today.
You haven't seen nor heard of him at all throughout the morning and now it's already past noon.
You were hoping to at least even just once, you would see him.
Glumly choosing some snacks, you paid right away and waited for your friend's turn before the both of you walked back to your classroom.
Your head hung low as you considered the rest of the day would be unmotivated and restless due to not seeing him.
You wonder why you weren't born in the same year as him. If you had been, you might have had the chance to be with him that year or, even better, have him as your classmate instead of your senior.
Probably because you were too busy weeping childishly, you didn't pay enough attention to where you were going, causing you to crash into someone.
Expecting the painful impact, you held your breath when suddenly, you felt a strong hand holding your waist and pulling you into a warm embrace, steadying your fall.
With your heart racing from fright and still dazed from the incident, it took you a moment to come to your senses before you looked up, ready to apologize.
But your eyes widened instead, your tongue stuck in your throat, and not a word came out.
You felt your face blush uncontrollably, and your whole body trembled. This time, you knew your heart was racing not from fright, but from the nervousness of your crush's sudden appearance.
Standing face to face with your crush, Sung Jinwoo, you could feel his breath as your faces were close to each other, his head bent down, looking at you.
“I’m sorry. Are you alright?” He asked as he gave you a worried look while you, in turn, could only look at him with your mouth wide open.
Both of your friends, who saw the whole situation stood frozen.
For one, your friend knows who your crush is while the other was bewildered with the whole situation.
Lifting his eyes, Sung Jinwoo’s eyebrow furrowed, concerned in his beautiful grey eyes, then brought a hand to touch your forehead which was now red from the earlier collision with his back.
“Your forehead’s bruised. We should go to the infirmary.” He murmured as he caressed your forehead.
Feeling his gentle touch, you snap out of your bewilderment and start rambling nonsensically, your arms flailing, your voice squeaking, and your face all messed up.
You couldn't help but cry in your heart.
Of all times, your bad luck just has to kick you when you least expected it and now you're making a fool of yourself in front of him.
Worst of all you just showed him yourself gawking at him unreservedly.
Not taking it anymore and embarrassed from head to toe, you immediately took your friend’s hand, apologizing before dashing away from the awkward situation.
You’re sure not only your face but your whole body is red as a tomato. Your back sweating profusely.
You’ve always imagined countless scenarios in your head. If you ever got the chance to talk to him, you would act smoothly and gracefully, ensuring that not a hint of your crush would show.
But now! BUT NOW!
You cried in despair.
God! You wish you could burrow yourself in a hole.
You were just grateful that only the four of you were in the hallway; otherwise, not only would you be mortified by your embarrassment, but you were certain that his fans would be furious with you for getting too close to him. And for sure you would be dead meat by the end of the day.
You were so grateful that wasn't the case.
As you and your friend were still running toward your class, a shameless thought popped into your mind, causing your once-red face to turn even redder.
Even though it was but a moment, you shamelessly recalled how his body felt against you.
His body was hard and built.
If you bet with anyone that he absolutely has abs even though he's only a high schooler, you will surely win.
With your mind clouded by immoral thoughts, you didn't notice the classroom door was closed, resulting in you running into it.
A loud sound echoed down the hallway, causing your friend to yelp in concern at your unhinged state.
You muttered a whole storm of curses under your breath.
You're certain the gods intended for you to die in shame today, leaving no corpse behind.

Meanwhile...
As Jinwoo watched you run off, he chuckled, his ears turning red from your cute reaction. After all this time, he had finally reunited with you.
He is eagerly looking forward to the days when you two can finally be together again.

A/N: Ahh, the taste of high school crushes! It’s so fresh but SO cringe at the same time, I couldn’t help but look back at my past crushes. SO CRINGE AND YET SO BITTER AND SO GOOD! Lol!🤣
Anyway, Sorry for the late post. Life has been too busy though I hope you enjoyed this fanfic!

I have an idea:
Basically, it would be Reader and Jinwoo who have known each other for a long time. They're best friends, and Reader was always super affectionate with him when he was an E-rank. She treated his wounds, cooked him food, etc., and flirted with him directly, but Jinwoo ignored her advances every time (for him, it was just affection between friends), but Reader always continued even though it wasn't reciprocal.
When he became an S-rank, he got closer to the other hunters, especially Cha Hae In, and Hae In did the same thing Reader did for him (taking care of him), except that he reacted to her advances. Reader, seeing this, understood that she had to let it go and was happy for him despite the heartbreak. Everything she did for him, she did with the other hunters in the guild (brought back cookies, put bandages on Baek, while complimenting him on his muscles, etc.). Jinwoo seeing Reader being affectionate with everyone except him gives him a pang in his heart realizing that he hates it when Reader is with people other than him and begins to regret all the times when he didn't reciprocate and ignore her advances. One day when Reader is injured he goes to heal her and tries to do what Reader did for him hoping to be able to get closer to her again
Thank you so much for trusting me with your idea! I hope you will enjoy reading it and tell me if you liked it! I value quite much every opinion you throw ahaha, love you all - Rook
Ps: I proofread it a bit quickly so eventual grammar errors will be dealt it later!
Where the heart awaits [S.JW x F!Reader]
Pairings: Sung Jinwoo x F!Reader Word count: 1.5K Theme: Fluff, angst (Injury ahead!)
Being an A-Rank healer was tough, but it had its perks. You met all kinds of people—arrogant hotshots, quiet tanks, mages who thought they were gods, hell even S ranks—but none of them managed to leave you an impression like Jinwoo. Gentle, caring Jinwoo who, no matter the hardships of being an E-Rank, never backed down on a job.
You met him during one of your first dungeon after you awakening, despite having already some offers for all kinds of guilds, you politely declined, saying that you would like to lend a hand to the guildless people before committing to one.
That’s how you ended up in a cramped, damp D-Rank dungeon with a group of nervous, under-equipped hunters… and him.
He hadn’t said much at first—kept his head down, focused. You watched as he silently took more hits than he should have, trying to protect the others even though he was clearly exhausted. By the end, he was bloodied and limping, but smiling when he handed the core to a trembling C-rank who looked like he might burst into tears. You had walked up to him, healing magic already warm in your palms, and asked with piqued interest.
“Do you always try to be a martyr, or was today special?”
He blinked at you. Then he smiled. “Habit, I guess.” Feeling refreshed as you healed him, warm magic tickled his skin.
That was the start of your friendship.
From then on, things moved fast. Days turned into month that eventually turned into one year.
You started teaming up more often. Dungeons with Jinwoo became your favorite—how you waited eagerly every time there was a new dungeon, a smile forming everytime you read Jinwoo's name on the list. You could already feel your heart warming.
You began to see him after and before the raids, sometimes even cooking for him and his sister after a particularly gruesome outing. He walked you home after late-night cleanups. You learned how he liked his coffee, how he couldn’t handle spicy food, and that he always, always made sure everyone else was safe before thinking about himself.
You started to look forward to the way his eyes would light up when you brought snacks. To the little, tired smiles he’d give you at the end of a run. You flirted with him—openly, shamelessly—sometimes just to see him flustered. But he never responded to it. At first, you told yourself it was just because he was shy.
But you were wrong, he wasn't shy, he just thought you were very friendly.
It hit you one night when the two of you went out to eat in one of those small restaurant full of people and laughs. You'd teased him again—something flirty, casual, something about how you liked guys who were quietly heroic and kind to their teammates. Jinwoo had just laughed. Not nervous. Not awkward. Just… amused.
The thought of you referring to him went completely over his head.
"Don't worry (Y/n), you are an amazing person and hunter, I'm sure you will find someone you love soon enough!"
And that’s when it sunk in. You could feel your smile dropping a bit before regaining your composure.
To him, your kindness was just that—kindness. The way you patched him up, brought him home-cooked meals, dragged him out for breaks, gifted him silly little trinkets to cheer him up—he’d seen all of it as the affection of a good friend. And maybe, in his mind, he didn’t deserve more than that anyway.
So you smiled and kept going, because even if your heart ached sometimes, his presence was worth it. Being by his side was better than not being there at all.
Until it wasn’t anymore.
When Jinwoo came back from his double dungeon, you felt everything change, as if someone pulled a rug from under your feet and disrupted your carefully built balance.
He was stronger. Colder. More focused. You watched as he built his new life—his new guild—and got closer with hunters you barely knew. He spent more time with Cha Haein, and even though she didn’t speak much, she didn’t need to. The way she looked at him said enough. And worse, the way he looked back at her…
You decided to let him go.
You still talked frequently but you decided that it was time to do something with yourself, Jinwoo was happy with Haein, it was time to reach your happiness as well.
You decided to join Baek Yoonho's guild, feeling ready to lend your powers to a bigger group of people—it was time for a "fresh start" as you called it.
You loved it there, truly, you began to grow fond of every member of your usual dungeon party. Thus you decided to spread your affection to them.
You began to take extra care while healing everyone, especially Guildmaster Baek, handed cookies to the office staff, even embracing one of the rookies— "Gukkie" you called him with the affection of a big sister—in a warm hug for nailing one of the raids in a dungeon.
You didn’t mean it as payback. It was just you being you.
But Jinwoo slowly began to notice it.
And for the first time in a long time, he was the one watching you from the sidelines.
Jinwoo didn’t realize when it started—the way his eyes always followed you, shadows always at the ready to protect you.
Maybe it was the moment you tucked a blanket around Baek Yoonho’s shoulders after a gruesome raid and told him to get some rest, your voice warm with that same gentle tone you used to use just for Jinwoo.
"Master Baek, I know you are toning your body everyday but you must take care and rest after a dungeon!" you'd say pouting.
Or when you ruffled that one hunter's hair after he brought you a smoothie and said, “You’re getting sweeter by the day,” and Jinwoo had to stop himself from yanking your hand away, starved of your usual caring touch.
It didn’t hit him all at once. It crept up slowly, a quiet cold wave that nipped at his ankles. A sharp tug in his chest every time you smiled at someone else. And a heavy, sinking feeling when he realized that you haven't smiled like that at him for weeks.
You were still kind and affectionate during the now rare times you saw each others. But you didn’t linger anymore. You didn’t tease. No more late-night texts, no more lingering touches. You didn’t call him “handsome” with a laugh or sneak his favorite candy into his coat pocket before a raid.
And it was his fault.
Thinking back to before he went in that double dungeon left him with a bitter taste on his tongue.
He’d thought it was just how you were. That your softness belonged to everyone. He hadn’t realized—until it wasn’t his anymore—how much of it you had given only to him.
Now it was too late. Or maybe it wasn’t. He didn’t know.
Not until the day of an abnormal red gate dungeon.
When Jinwoo felt the pulse of the gate from across the city so stronge that even Igris twitched.
And then your name came through the emergency report from the White Tiger Guild.
A red gate. An unexpected ambush. An A-Rank healer, critically injured. You.
Jinwoo didn’t remember giving the order to teleport. He just moved. Shadows exploded from the ground like a tidal wave, launching him towards your position.
The first thing he noticed was how small and frail you seemed in Baek Yoonho's arms, whom looked at him with wide eyes.
"We closed the dungeon but we need to help her fast if we want her to live"
You were unconscious, blood seeping from your uniform, your breathing was shallow, and your mana flickered like a dying candle. Someone had tried to patch you up, but it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t you.
Jinwoo’s hands trembled as he touched your cheek. For a moment, all he could do was stare.
You were always the one healing. Always smiling through exhaustion, patching wounds, giving warmth without asking for anything back. Now you lay still, quiet and cold.
Something cracked deep inside him.
“Why didn’t I see it?” he whispered, almost angrily. “Why did I let you go?”
Beru stood silently nearby, his gaze lowered. Even his shadows stayed quiet, watching their king kneel beside the one person he could never bring himself to face until it was too late.
Jinwoo’s heart raced as his hands trembled, pouring every ounce of mana into you with a desperate kind of reverence, trying to heal the wound he had failed to stop. His shadows clung to you like a protective cocoon, dimly glowing with the magic he so freely gave, trying to mend what had been broken both in your body and in his soul.
"Please," he whispered again, his voice trembling with a vulnerability he had never shown before. "I can’t lose you. Not like this."
His forehead touched yours, and for a fleeting moment, the world faded into the background. The overwhelming pulse of his heart, the suffocating grief, the quiet dread of losing you—all of it seemed to blur as he focused entirely on you.
His breath came out in ragged gasps as he choked on the words he had kept buried for far too long.
“Wake up…” His voice cracked, the words barely audible. “Please. I still haven’t said it. I haven’t told you…”
But then he felt it—a soft pressure on his hand.
“Jinwoo…” Your voice was weak, your hand reaching up to gently touch his face. “I’m here…”
He leaned down, cheek pressed against yours as relief washed over him like a tidal wave. The fear, the doubt, the hopelessness that had gripped him melted away.
“I’ve got you,” he murmured softly, his hands brushing away the sweat on your forehead. “I'm sorry you had to wait for so long”
You smiled weakly as you felt the warmt of his words settle in your chest, maybe there was still hope after all.

⌗ "I am human regardless of the power running through my veins. It lies within my heart, my human heart which feels ever so deeply, that I am bound to feeling emotions such as fear, hatred, greed, and love"
⌗ Word Count: 3.3k
⌗ Synopsis: Despite knowing that everything given demanded a price, and everything taken had a cost, Jinwoo would have done everything for you, relinquished all he had. But when granted power without end capable of continuous growth beyond that of limitation, he feared before he reasoned, and in his panic had he pushed you away. Still, you could love him no less even as his presence thinned into absence. Eventually, Jinwoo realized he could only run as far as you'd let him.
⌗ A/n: been working on this since feb. i am as hopeless with my writing as i am hopelessly in love with Jinwoo 💙

THEY MADE, AND IN THEIR MAKING, THEY UNMADE. And it became their legacy retold in history.
For the greatest of empires had they built upon the spine of the land, upon the hum of the earth’s uneven breaths and the shifting of its sands. But as they raised them into lofty castles of grandeur, into bridges that crossed ravines and forded gushing rivers, they had brought them to ruin by the thirst for more. Even the alliances forged by the blood of sacrifice— meant to be immortalised in legend— were cleaved apart with the blade of mistrust wedged deep between the scapula.
Once, when the fields of flowers had been kissed by the sun and caressed by the moon. When forests of old sheltered life beneath the canopy of their trees, and streams of pure birth coursed outward, nourishing all they touched. Light felt softer then. And time must have moved without urgency, too. For even the silence was sure to have been alive, full of meaning, full of breath. Until their petals were plucked and their rivers bloodied.
Trees were splintered. Wings clipped. Skin carved. And it had been such that nothing ever remained untouched. For the blame worthy were indeed beings of flesh— mortal… frail. Frail in what lies inside unspoken of. What mattered most.
They trample and are trampled by what lies beyond their control. And they break and are broken by the hands of those they love, envy… fear.
When the gates appeared and hunters rose from among the panic with powers beyond their grandest desires, disaster had been mistaken for salvation. Hunter Guilds were established to combat the monsters. But beneath their banners, division grew. Subtle at first, then swift, accelerating the downfall of what was already fraying at the seams.
In a cruel game where the strong preyed upon the weak, the greedy devoured the humble, and the wicked turned their blades to the innocent. Sins were repeated, not repented. For the power that descended upon them, disastrous in their hands, would be their undoing.
And so it was to be, as if writ by fate’s hand— humanity were forever doomed to become the ruin of every story. A final chapter none could ever rewrite.

THE SUN TOOK LEAVE OF THE WORLD, bequeathing to the veil of shadow. The traffic lights turned green, engines stirred, and wheels began rolling. Uproar hurled through the streets as a motorbike wove between the blurred cars, its growl reverberating down the asphalt vein.
In the merging of headlights, you had seen his eyes; the speckle of blue within the grey that surfaced when caught in the gleam of luminosity. Those eyes sought you out, flicking from face to face with urgency, like a caged bird who mourned for the sky. He moved through the world shaped by his tragedies and misfortune, brave yet labelled weak and mocked as a coward.
Life altered him more times than one could count, wearing him down in the most horrid ways. He was the boy who knew pain too intimately, considered it a companion even if it had never been a desired one.
His smile had always held too much apology, stretched over a face that had forgotten genuinity. His shoulders drew taut and his spine locked in rigidness beneath a jacket worn and torn by responsibility and fight; the posture of someone taught by repetition to brace for the worst and never expect anything better, for the clothes on his back and a growing stack of unpaid bills were all he had.
Like a shadow, he carried himself, bowing his head as if he might offend the light. And though he had tried to stay small, to slip by unnoticed, mockery found him like a breath upon his neck all the same, as if daring him to think he deserved even that.
Their words cut deeper than any beast ever did. The sharpness of their laughter and ridicule hollowed him out, but he did what he had to do, even if it made him fold into himself and apologise for being weak and a pathetic stain on the world.
Your hand, cold against the heat of skin, held your neck where the phantom ache of his name still echoed alive.
You remembered the night the call came. When the hospital’s number flashed across your screen and how it hadn’t startled you at first because he had been in and out of emergency rooms enough times for it to feel like a routine. Bruises, fractures, and the occasional concussion, but he never stayed long. He had always walked out alive in the end. But that night had been different when Jinah’s voice, strangled by apprehension, threaded through the call.
The memory became one impossible to shake, for you had leaned close to his motionless body and inhaled the scent of ash and iron until it could not be forgotten. The image of him, every inch of exposed skin buried under gauze and wrapped so thickly it seemed he might disappear beneath it, burned into your mind.
"You idiot... stupid… stupid…" You hadn’t meant to say it in anger, but the words slipped from your quivering lips anyway, too heavy to hold back because so foolish, he was. Always so stubborn and persistent to a fault.
You couldn’t call it strength— what he did. Could not deem such reckless behaviour noble, even if he had done it all to provide for her, to ensure she had what she needed. To carry a burden that should not have been his alone. There was nothing noble about the way his body lay there, broken and unrecognisable beneath the bandages. Nothing admirable in the way he hadn’t stirred for days, no sign that the man you knew was still fighting to come back while his sister, whom he had done it all for, was left with nothing but the unbearable routine of waiting.
She had spent her days running back and forth between the hospital and home despite your protests. Nights were lonely, though she had grown accustomed to it. She always had her phone nearby as she waited for you to call with any change or any sign he would wake. She didn’t have the luxury of giving up. Not while her brother lay there, just like her mother. Not while he had made sure she wouldn’t have to.
Neither of them deserved this. And yet, here they were.
Red lights blinked overhead and as the cars rolled to a stop, you stepped off the curb, swept into the tide of pedestrians, moving like rain dissolving into the ocean, loose, unbothered, flowing with the kind of ease that comes from having somewhere to go but no urgency to get there. But you moved differently, slipping between them, quicker, with purpose. A single note out of tune. Your pace outmatched theirs. You couldn’t walk slowly— not tonight.
Bit by bit, the press of bodies thinned and the noise of car horns and voices had fallen away like smoke in the wind. Eventually, only the quiet rhythm of your breath and your footsteps remained.
Your knuckles struck wood, once, twice, then once more, until after a pause, the door creaked open.
“You're late."
“Work ran overtime," the warm ambience of her home welcoming you as you entered.
"You don't have to lie, you know." She wiggled her brows, a knowing grin tugging at the corner of her mouth. "Jinwoo will be happy to see you"
“Dumbass” you muttered more to yourself than her, closing the door behind you.
Jinah went back to her show, drawing her knees up beneath her on the couch. The hum of the program filled the room but your attention drifted elsewhere, onto the shelf where dust clung faintly to the edges of picture frames, untouched for who knew how long. One in particular caught your eye. It was of Jinwoo and Jinah, years younger, caught mid-laughter, their faces bright and unburdened with a joy that no longer visited, a kind that did not belong to the present.
The second frame held a photo of Jinwoo and his mother. He couldn’t have been more than five, clinging to her with the easy trust of a child. His small chin rested against her shoulder as his feet dangled behind her, a supportive hand keeping him steady and sure, as if she’d always known exactly how to hold the weight of someone else’s world.
She was beautiful. Truly beautiful. Touched by the rare grace that only motherhood could shape. Time had aged her in each photo, but not unkindly for she wore her maturity well, like silk and aged wine, bearing those marks with pride. You saw a woman who lived, perhaps not perfectly, but wholly. A woman who had loved deeply, lost deeply, and still found a way to keep going.
When your eyes opened, the memory had receded. Still, her eyes sought yours in the familiar blur of your vision. But as your focus returned fully, you realised you had mistaken Jinah for her mother. Had come close enough to forget just how long it has been since.
You ruffled Jinah’s hair, like her mother had once done to you and she swatted your hand away, urging you to her brother’s room before you could do it again.
You made your way down the hallway, where the walls had been lined with so many memories, some of which you could only vaguely recall. Crayon drawings curled at the edges, left untouched since their mother fell ill. Neither of the siblings had the heart to take them down, despite how much they grew to hate them, for she loved those scrappy stick figures and food-stained paper. Above those childish doodles there hung a neat row of school certificates tucked into tarnished gold frames. Jin-ah’s name had stood out in bold across them, impossible to miss. Achievement after achievement. You loitered there in search of a name that never appeared and never would, and you moved on… what else could you do.
The door to Jinwoo’s room stood ajar. You peered inside. Livid greys and a gentle white light bled from the computer screen where he sat hunched over, his shoulders slouched and his spine curved in a way that suggested he’d been sitting there for hours staring at the monitor yet not really seeing it.
You didn’t knock. You hardly ever did. You offered the door a cursory nudge with your knuckles at most, but even that was rare. More often, you pressed it open the rest of the way and slipped inside if he hadn’t already been the one to draw you in first.
The creaking hinges might as well have been a greeting.
“Jinah was right…” you walked in, “You are brooding."
The mattress dipped beneath your weight with a muted groan, but still had he yet to acknowledge you. For a bated breath, nothing changed.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, swivelling his chair to face you. When his voice came to be, it came with the faintest brush of retraction and you were caught off guard by the low timbre.
Caught in a moment of process, you hadn’t replied, but your attention directed elsewhere, and Jinwoo followed your gaze to his desk where the clutter offered an unmistakable answer to his own question.
He understood immediately.
You wouldn’t have come all this way, at this hour by choice, not when he had made his distance so glaringly evident. He thought.
His eyes faltered on the cans of beer strewn across the surface, then moved to the one in his hand. A fleeting twitch of his fingers betrayed the desire to sweep them aside, out of your view, but he reined it in and tilted his head back, his throat working with practised ease as took a large gulp.
There had been no visible sign of intoxication on him, nothing in his posture to suggest the careless abandon of too much drink, and his movements, too, were steady and unshaken as he lowered it and settled it amongst the rest, making you pause because you knew something hadn't been quite right; you just couldn’t prove it beyond mere speculation.
“… You always had a bad sense of timing,” he said, blinking in short intervals until the distance in them fled, and he'd been something other than what was in front of him.
For some reason, discomfort slithered up your spine at the way he looked at you, the way he said that, as though a centipede had begun its crawl with a thousand legs prickling your nerves and seeking to burrow beneath your skin.
“I wasn’t planning on coming”, you confessed reluctantly, unable to voice what troubled you. Only that it had been marked in the fringe framing his eyes and in the finger tapping against the second-hand clock on his thigh.
“Then why did you?” he prodded.
“Because I gave you two weeks”
So you had known.
Part of him felt relieved, but the rest simmered with frustration. “So it’s not because Jinah called you?”
“She did, yes,” you admitted, “but I would have come around sooner or later”
All this time, Jinwoo believed he was successfully avoiding you when really you had only been allowing him that.
He stared at you.
You had always managed to complicate things for him and all along had he known your presence to be too much for him to resist, that a second in your company and he’d be bound to your every whim and tied to a mess of emotions he spent too long pretending he could move beyond. But in truth, he hadn’t because he knew he could not. Not really.
He lifted the can to his lips when your hand came upon his and stilled his movement. He smiled then, behind the metal. Though not with joy or relief or even bitterness, but because your touch aroused what he knew he was at present and perhaps for much of his life he would be undeserving of.
“You never ask,” He uttered in a breath almost missing, a breath nearly lost.
“Would you have answered?”
Fair enough.
He’d give you that.
Still… You never pried. Never pushed him into corners where he had to confront things he wasn’t ready to face, as if you perfected the balance of letting him come to you while at the same time knowing when to pull him by the ear and rein him in, and that frustrated him as it did attract him.
You took the can from him.
Although he hated it, he knew you were right. There was no use pretending anymore. No use keeping up the act. You had obviously caught on, and Jinwoo, astute and self-aware, knew better than to waste time on futility. He couldn’t push you away any further. And honestly, he no longer wanted to.
Annoying. His head fell against your stomach. Did you always have to be so... you?
“I would have answered,” he affirmed, “If only you had been the one to ask.”
Jinwoo’s hands encircled your wrists, his hold gentle and his touch almost pleading, like someone drowning alone for far too long. As if he had weathered shifting tides that pulled the shore from beneath him, endured squalls that reshaped the very landscape around him.
Like a man who clawed for the surface, desperate for the blaze of the sunlight in his eyes, for the agony of breath to tear through his lungs and burn the salt from his throat, he needed proof that he was still alive. That the scars and shattered bones, torn limbs and bloodied tears, all meant something.
Then again, it’s not like he gave you the chance to ask.
With your heart racing ahead of your breaths, your palm smoothed over his head. He hummed low in his throat, pressing closer to your abdomen. Close. Maybe too close. But not uncomfortable. Not awkward. You were still the same to him, in all the things that stirred his memories with fondness.
“I like the haircut, by the way,” you remarked, still threading gently through his hair, curling at the ends, scratching lightly at his scalp in a way you knew he liked.
“Don’t make fun of me,” he said flatly, leaning back.
“I’m not, you look good. Like you aged overnight in a cool, ‘I’m a reliable older brother who has his act together and is single-parenting his teenage sister while somehow managing not to emotionally combust’ kind of way.”
You tried to ruffle his hair, but he caught your wrist, slightly irked. “That was oddly specific and sounded much like an insult”
“I didn’t say it was a bad thing. You look the part of a mature young man, put together and all. Girls like that sort of thing.”
His grip tightened slightly in warning, not enough to hurt.
“Okay, okay,” you laughed, tugging your hand back. “But seriously, how many poor souls fainted?”
Jinwoo was unimpressed. “You’re the worst.”
“That’s not a number,” you replied in a sing-song.
He exhaled through his nose, the closest thing he ever got to a laugh when you really pushed him. “You are worse than Jinah”
“High praise,” you grinned.
Jinwoo dropped onto his bed without ceremony, back hitting the mattress with a soft thud, one arm tucked behind his head. “That wasn’t a compliment”
Oh, but it was. You sank into his chair.
Jinwoo turned onto his side to face you.
The fear that had gripped him each time death pressed so near he could taste it always ended the same: with a final prayer. For himself. For the ones he’d leave behind. His mother and father would never see the boy who had raised himself into a man worthy of their pride. Only Jinah would remain to walk a path alone, chasing dreams they might never witness unless some cruel mercy woke their mother from her endless sleep, or brought their father from wherever he had disappeared to.
And you… whom he had loved longer than he had dared to breathe it aloud.
Back when, in the muck and dust of your childhood, your small fists had burrowed into the sand, not knowing the handfuls you threw found their way to him. He could only stand there taking it, his eyes wide but in awe, as if the hole you dug were a hundred-dollar bill placed into the hands of a struggling man. He had known it then, even. Perhaps not as love entirely, but as something precious to him.
The tide rose and washed into the holes he carved out since the disaster of the double dungeon, and further, into the fissures time had hidden and never healed. The fear of losing you had kept him at bay as he grew because it was better to remain your friend than to gamble and lose what little joy life had given.
Jinwoo exhaled, long and dreary, letting the dolefulness fall with the breath, he called your name so softly, so full of care and affection.
“I missed you”
You swallowed hard, blinking like it might steady the way the room tilted around your heart.
It wasn’t fair!
The way he said things like that and didn’t seem to realise they landed like an arrow between your ribs. Like he could just drop a quiet I missed you after pushing you away and not expect the ground to shift under your feet and unsettle you.
But that was Jinwoo, wasn’t it? Never loud about what mattered, but never careless either.
“I missed you, too” you whispered.
And he smiled.
He smiled. His eyes fluttering close, lashes falling against the tops of his cheeks, and for once, there was no tension in his brow, no shadows carved beneath his eyes. Just the slow, steady rhythm of his breathing as sleep found him.

green is definitely not jinwoo’s color // jinwoo figures out he’s a jealous boyfriend

a/n: thank u to the person who requested this i <3 this little micro trope mweheh ,, let me know was u guys think feedback is very appreciated :3 !!!
warnings: alcohol mentions (reader takes shots and is drunk), slight manhwa spoilers (beru mention + his aura being purple instead of blue :P)
sung jinwoo never knew if he was a jealous boyfriend, he’d never been in a relationship long enough to figure it out. sure he got jealous of other hunters, but that’s just because he envied their strength. but now? there was nothing for him to be jealous of, he was stronger than any of them could’ve dreamed of becoming. he had more than enough money, he had his family and of course he had you.
“you sure you don’t wanna come with?” you ask your lover one last time, looking at him through the reflection of the mirror. jinwoo was watching you with a loving look on his face, humming as if in thought before shaking his head.
“baby you do remember i can’t get drunk, right?” a chuckle leaving his lips. you can’t help but roll your eyes at him.
“yes i know, but that’s doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time!” you turn and look at him, taking a couple steps closer to him and intertwining your fingers with his. “it’ll be fun! my friends have been wanting to actually meet you.”
“I have actually met them” jinwoo retorts, leaning in and pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“you said hi and then teleported away like two seconds later” the serious look on your face is enough for him to sigh in defeat, letting his head rest on your shoulder. “plus they’re gonna be bar hopping we can just stay in one spot or come home when your battery is drained.”
“okay fine I’ll go” he mumbles against you, smiling when you let out a small cheer.
an hour later and the two of you are arriving at the bar, music blasting in your ears and a smile on your face as you meet your friends and a couple of their partners. the night goes smoothly, with jinwoo even joining in for a couple shots just for the hell of it, smiling when you bat your lashes and beg him to get you some water.
jinwoo is more than happy to, squeezing your waist and heading to the bar. he was gone for three minutes at most, turning around and finding some guy chatting it up with you. his grip on the water tightens, one of the cups being crushed in his hand. his eyes glow purple for a second before trying to calm himself down, beru appearing for a second and asking if his liege would allow him the honor of cutting down the enemy.
he would be lying if he didn’t contemplate it, gobsmacked as to why some random man would think he was deserving of you. the thought of the stranger even-
you give the man a small smile, laughing at whatever joke or pick up line he told you. jinwoo feels a pang in his heart as he sees you laugh, was he funny? did you think he was attractive? was he jealous? if you were to look at him in that moment he’s sure you’d see green around him rather than the usual purple aura.
“you come here alone? I could show you a great time” the guy winks, its makes jinwoo want to gouge his eyes out. your boyfriend wastes no time in walking over to you, announcing himself as soon as he was in ear shot.
“sorry i took so long sweetheart” he says, emphasizing the pet name and staring down the man talking to you. you were too drunk to notice the daggers jinwoo was sending the man, instead smiling up at your boyfriend and wrapping your arms around him.
“jinny! this is- what was it again?” you mumble, giving the man a confused look, “anyway i think he was trying to flirt with me” you say, turning to your boyfriend and watching as his jaw clenched. you could feel his muscles flexing even underneath his shirt. as shit faced as you were, the sheer anger and jealousy radiating off of him was enough to make you sober up a bit.
jinwoo snaked his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him and squinting his eyes at the man. “oh is that so?” he hums, you just giggle.
“see? i have a boyfriend, you don’t need to show me a great time” you grumble, jinwoo’s ears perking up at your statement, sheer rage coursing through his veins.
“you said that?” his voice low and angry as he kept eye contact with the man, who was now trying to find a way out of the situation. the space around jinwoo seemed to be warping from his anger, causing the man’s eyes to widen.
“n-nah man i was joking! im sorry” he laughed nervously, taking a couple steps back and profusely apologizing before running out of the bar.
jinwoo huffs after the man is out of sight, focusing back on you and pulling you into him by the waist. the action makes your heart flutter, smiling widely when jinwoo crashes his lips into yours.
your inebriated state doesnt stop you from moving your lips against him, grabbing him by the collar and pulling him closer to you, a small whimper leaving your lips as he bites down on your bottom lip. you giggle into the kiss and pull away, smiling wider when jinwoo chases after your lips for more.
“easy tiger, nothing to be jealous ‘bout” you tease, swaying slightly and stumbling as you took a step back. jinwoo catches you immediately, helping steady you and leaving his arm around you (both out of support for you and the possessiveness control his body.)
“not jealous” his cheeks are flushed red and he doesn’t even believe himself as the words leave his mouth, “who does the even think he is” he growls, knuckles white as he clenches his fist.
you can’t help but get flustered, the sight of a jealous jinwoo making you swoon. “how ‘bout we get home” you mumble, resting your head on his chest and closing your eyes for a second to try and make the room slow down a bit.
a couple seconds later the room seems to go silent, making you open your eyes and look around you. the thumping bass and crowded floor was gone, replaced by the comforting silence of your living room.
“god i love you” you sigh, clinging onto jinwoo as he helps you to the restroom, a drunken smile on your face as he helps you change and brush your teeth.
the two of you are in bed in no time, and you’re talking about something you won’t remember in the morning. jinwoo is relishing in it, his eyes tracing your every feature and committing every inflection in your voice to memory.
“and you said you weren’t a jealous boyfriend” you tease, laughing louder than you expected to, making you bury your face in jinwoo’s chest. your comment makes his face flush, a sheepish smile making its way onto his lips.
“i didn’t think i was, but seeing another guy talk to you-” jinwoo pauses, calming himself down and looking at you, “you’re mine, only mine.” the statement makes your stomach flip, a giggle leaving your lips as you hum happily.
“only yours my woo woo bear” the nickname makes you burst into a fit of laughter, jinwoo can’t help but smile at you, chuckling and holding you closer. “you’re too hot when you’re jealous, can’t have anyone else looking at what’s mine,” your words catch jinwoo by surprise.
he opens his mouth to speak, stopping when he realizes you were already out cold. he lets out a small sigh, smiling and pressing a kiss to your forehead before letting himself close his eyes and sleep.
sung jinwoo realized he is a jealous boyfriend, a certain degree of possessiveness coming to life when it came to you. anytime the two of you went out, no one dared to flirt with you, not when the worlds most intimating 6’3 man has his arm around you and anyone who thinks of making a move on you gets a bone chilling glare from glowing purple eyes.
you pretend to not realize it, knowing damn well you weren’t any better when it came to jinwoo.

sung jinwoo x fem.reader
a sharp pain was felt radiating down your back the moment you slipped and fell on the concrete sidewalk settled below you. the intensity of such an impact was enough to knock the wind out of you, causing you to cry out.
a wave of nausea hits you, and you struggled to breathe while getting back on your feet. your breathing turns into shaky gasps for air when you tried to sit up.
in your eagerness to see your beloved, you decided to meet him halfway, coming out of your apartment while ignoring the bitter cold. your boots had taken a simple step against what you assumed was an icy patch when you felt your feet sliding forward while your body was tilted in reverse. before you could even brace yourself or even attempt to stop your fall, you fell backwards, landing directly against your back.
the pain was unbearable, and you were uncertain if you could even move. your lower back radiates with a pain you had never felt before, making it difficult for you to focus. wallowing in your misery, you didn’t hear your phone going off, sending you a series of texts, nor the way your shadow seemed to lengthen as a tall young man steps out from its depths.
a gentle voice calling your name breaks you out of your reveries, with you revealing your tear stained face to jinwoo. concern paints his expression as he kneels down, gently cupping your face within his gloved hands. “my love, what happened?”
your whimpers became even more prominent the moment jinwoo takes you within his embrace, eyes burning with a silent fury in response to your pain. “i-it’s nothing… i slipped and fell on a stupid p-patch of ice. i-i’m sorry, i should have waited for you in my apartment. i just ruined our date…!”
jinwoo lets out a soft coo of your name, pulling your form even closer to his chest. the pain seemed to worsen while you were in his embrace, yet when you tried to pull away from him, he refuses to free you from his arms.
“j-jinwoo-“ by now, your tears were staining at the front of his coat, yet jinwoo simply lets out another soft hum of your name. you felt his fingertips dancing around your back, traveling lower until it reached the area where you experienced the most amount of pain. you winced in response to his touch until a comforting warmth surrounds you.
with each second that passes, you felt the radiating pain slowly dissipate, rapidly turning into a distant memory as it disappeared completely. you felt whole once more, making you meet jinwoo’s kind gaze with an almost incredulous look.
he smiles down at you, grey eyes filled with mirth the moment he takes your face within his two hands to press a lingering kiss against your forehead. “better?”
you swallow thickly, only able to give him a nod in response. chuckling at your cutely dumbfounded expression, jinwoo turns around to reveal his back to you. “come on, love. let me protect you from all the icy patches.”
the way his laughter deepens lets you know that he was teasing you. with a huff and a cute pout on your face, you jump onto jinwoo’s back, earning an audible grunt from him. giggling with joy now, you hide your face within the curve of his neck, allowing jinwoo to give you a piggyback ride all while basking in the warmth of his love.
you had no explanation as to how jinwoo was able to erase your pain so easily-
but truly, you loved him enough to not even think about questioning it, completely unaware of your past life and how you were the most important person to him in the world-
one that he would cross universes for, just to be with you again ♡

Married AU
bitey Sung Jinwoo x reader
side note: I'm completely new to writing fics, so please be aware of wrong grammar and misspellings!

chomp.
"Jinwoo." you spoke.
"Yeah?" he replied.
"Stop it." You spoke once more, but he didn't bother, yet another chomp, was the response you could get.
"You taste like wife." He spoke flatly, continuing to bite your cheek then onto your hand once more.
It's been a week since Jinwoo has been doing this, chomping all around you as if you were a bone and he was the dog.
"Do you want me to force you to wear a get along shirt with Beru?" You replied, pulling your hand away from his biting mouth.
"You wouldn't." He spoke, a thought that he could just threaten Beru to not do that.
"Beru." You called the ant, the ant teleporting to you immediately as he replied.
"Yes, my queen?" Beru replied, kneeling for a moment before seemingly seeing your gesture to not kneel once again
"Both of you, wear this." You throw a get along shirt at Jinwoo and Beru, Jinwoo shooting the deadliest glare he can give to Beru.
"Listen to her and I won't summon you again." He dared Beru, already planning to cancel summon Beru.
"Listen to him and I'll make sure you're never loved." You also dared Beru, thinking of the most heartbreaking insult you can give to the ant.
...
In the end, you managed to force Jinwoo and Beru to wear the get along shirt, Beru being scared and Jinwoo looking like he was about to start a massacre.
at one point Jinwoo would've already canceled summon on beru before even managing to force him and Beru to wear that shirt. (╥﹏╥)

he hadn't been the same ever since you made him try a period cramp simulator a month ago.
it all unfolded during one ordinary morning— until it ended up being anything but ordinary— when you presented the device to him like an ancient relic uncovered from the deepest depths of the earth, all while saying something along the lines of, “it's a social experiment. a precious opportunity to strengthen our bond and explore the art of empathy."
him, being the ever-dutiful husband, naturally found himself agreeing to try it.
long story short, it humbled him deeply.
you thought he was already attentive during your cycle. which, to be truthful, he was. but now? you realised that you were wrong. very, very wrong.
and now, you were being greeted by your husband's face in the wee hours of the morning through one cracked eye, the mattress dipping with his weight as he stared at you with concern etched into his features.
then came the first inquiry.
“good morning, sweetheart. are you in pain?”
you blinked, groggily sitting up, an ache beginning to form in the deep depths of your system. “oh… i guess so?”
affirming that you were indeed going through that time of the month—courtesy of him having tracked your period— he gave you a solemn nod before standing up, disappearing into the kitchen and reappearing with a trey in hand.
you squinted. a fully prepared breakfast that looked too beautiful to consume. a heating pad. tea. water. chocolates. painkillers. and… a checklist.
you took a peek.
heating pad prepared. favorite blanket and pillows fluffed up. comfort snacks placed in her favorite bowl within reach. romance dramas queued. sanitary products restocked. chores cleared.
your gaze darted between him and the trey, your mouth closing and opening as your brain scrambled to process the situation.
“here, use this,” he moved forward, fluffing up the pillow you were sleeping on from behind before gently nudging you back, securing the heating pad against your stomach. “there.”
you didn't know which one to do first. shed a few sparkly tears of gratitude or laugh and lung forward and drown him in kisses.
“y-you didn't have to do all that—”
“i wanted to. i must. you can't be saying outrageous things like that.”
he didn't allow you to lift a single finger throughout the day. checked in from time to time to make sure you were okay, brought you whatever you asked for, gave you a message even though you didn't ask for it, dropped everything to cook for you, and came in with tissues, perfectly brewed tea with your exact preferences, vitamins and an even fluffier blanket when you sneezed once. at some point, he asked if you would like him to carry you around the house—even the bathroom, by the way— because “why waste your energy when I'm here?”
by evening, you were lounging like the queen you are, surrounded by all the things needed to make your period session bearable and one prepared-and ready-to pamper-to-the-max husband.
you paused the drama you were watching, yanking him down towards you from where you were curled up on the couch, his warmth immediately wrapping around you.
his hand instinctively found your waist, the other braced beside your hip. “hey— what's up?”
you grinned, lifting yourself just a little to place a featherlight kiss against his jaw. “baby, thank you. i'm fine now. why don't you relax with me?”
he hesitated for a moment, although his hands betrayed him by tightening around your waist just a fraction.
“are you sure? what if—”
“no buts. i demand cuddles. right now.”
he chuckled, the sound coming out breathier than intended as he settled down beside you before pulling you on top of him, securing you against his chest, his fingers already gently combing through your hair. you sighed contently, nuzzling deeper, all while his heart nearly gave out at the gesture.
after a moment, he spoke.
“if you ever need anything, just tell me,” he murmured, leaning down to kiss your temple.
“then stay here. with me.”
you didn't have to repeat that. and you never had to doubt the royalty treatment coming up every month. although he'd still make sure to treat you like a queen outside of that month, too.

Come Home to Me (2/2)
Read Part 1 | Read it on AO3
Pairing: Sung Jinwoo X Female Reader
Genre: Marriage AU, fluff, smut, hurt/comfort
Summary: Your husband notices how worried you are about him going on another raid, so he stays for a bit longer to convince you that no matter what happens in the future, he will come home to you.
Word Count: 8K (I wrote too many banters I'm so sorry)
Content Warnings: Semi-public sex, swearing
“Beru, take my daughter inside. I need to be with my wife. Alone.”
The sudden solemnity that befell your husband’s face and the way his voice, low and heavy, resonated in the air around you smeared goosebumps upon your skin. His tone carried a breath of possessiveness, imbuing life to the slumbering butterflies within your stomach.
“Certainly, my liege,” came the shadow soldier’s immediate response. Shortly after he performed a deep bow, Beru walked into the house with your daughter held tight in his arms, closing the front door behind him to offer you the freedom to speak what your heart truly felt—except you couldn’t. You were scared for a thousand different reasons.
The sun had sunk low enough below the horizon for the darkness to gather, a stroke of purple hue tinging the vast orange sky, ready to wrap the stars with its velvety quilt. Jinwoo might appear nearly transcendent under the evening sun, but nothing embraced him better than the night’s cloak, a fitting companion to a man who carried the undead within his steps. Standing before him in this quietude, you felt like you slowly returned to your old self. Abashed, nervous, losing your tongue in front of a man so handsome, he made your heart ache.
Jinwoo turned to you, his face unreadable, guarded, but there was undoubtedly a gleam of concern residing in his deep blue eyes. He took a stride toward you, his movement soundless against the marbled floor of your porch, the same way death approached those who wished to harm the only person he could call home. “What is it?” he began in a voice so soft, it was almost zephyr-like. His lean fingers circled your wrist like a bracelet, cool to the touch. “You’ve never looked this perturbed before. Did something happen?”
“No,” your answer—your lie—came almost instantly, flawless to anyone’s ears. “Nothing happened.” Behind your clamped teeth, your mind endlessly screamed the words your tongue was itching to say, a desperate plea you tried to veil with everything you had.
Don’t go, Jinwoo, please, just this one time. I have a terrible feeling about this, and I know I can’t prove to you why, but it’s eating me alive. I feel it stronger today, this fear of losing you, of losing the other half of me. I know you want me to bid my farewell with a smile the way I always do, and I’m trying my best to do it even now, but there’s only so much I can keep to myself. I don’t want to say goodbye to my husband, not knowing if it will be the last time I can see his face. So, please… Please stay… Don’t leave me. Don’t go. I don’t know what I’d do without you.
Although these thoughts remained unspoken, in Jinwoo’s eyes, they manifested vividly on your face. But he wished to hear them directly, to see them flow past your lips, so he could capture each sentence and turn them into words of comfort.
“Sweetheart,” he repeated, his voice tender yet authoritative at the same time. “Don’t make me leave you like this. Don’t make me worry about you more than I already do. Tell me. Tell me so I can help.”
He’s right, you thought. Keeping this from him will only make him worry. He can’t afford to get distracted, not now. But when you still kept your lips pressed tight, trying to collect the words, his two fingers framed your chin, leaving you with no choice but to meet his scrutinizing stare.
He seemed upset. No, more than that, he looked… angry.
The air seemed to shimmer around him as his emotions slowly climbed to the surface, his gaze darkening as his desire to protect you gripped him like a vice. “Did someone hurt you?” Jinwoo questioned you, his voice a deep rumble, crossing through the nearly infinitesimal space between your lips and his like an impending storm.
You fidgeted. “N-no—”
He tilted your face higher, not letting you break free from his gaze. “I would be able to tell in a heartbeat if someone laid a hand on you, but if there was something that I didn’t know, some clues that I missed, someone who made you feel even slightly unsafe.” His eyes began to gleam; the shadows beneath his feet trembled in fear in the presence of his restrained rage. “I want their names. Now.”
You gulped. This side of him never failed to make shivers crawl down your spine. Jinwoo had always been so gentle and loving with you that it was easy to forget just how vicious and merciless he could be when his protectiveness over you took form. Your husband had killed for your sake before, more than you could possibly count, and he’d take another hundred lives within a blink of your eyes should you ask him to.
As you released your shuddering breath, you twined your fingers around his wrist. “No.” You tilted your head to the side just enough for your lips to press a soothing kiss against the blue and red rivers of veins under his pasty skin. “It’s not like that. No threats, nothing. I’m safe.”
Relief washed over him, albeit only faintly. “What is it, then?”
You tarried, trying to mince your phrases as best as you could. “I know you can handle anything,” you only began, yet your voice was already cracking with emotions. “I know that, and I believe in your strength. But I saw you, Jinwoo, just like everybody else. I saw the way your enemy stabbed your heart and tore open your chest. You survived. By some miracle, you did. But the sight of it… It haunts me."
You took a breath before you continued. "I find it impossible to sleep at night when you’re not next to me. My mind keeps drifting back to you no matter what I do, wondering if you were fighting for your life again, trapped in a battle you couldn’t win. Sometimes I look at you and…” You laid your hand above his beating heart, your fingers tracing over it as your eyes grew vacant. “I remember the way the beast’s claws pierced through your chest, right here, all five of them. Your body may have healed, and there are no traces of those wounds left on your skin, not even a scar, but… I can still see them. I’m still scared of them. And I can’t help but think… What if it happens again? What if your luck runs out this time?”
Jinwoo continued to stay mute, listening to you intently as if you were the only voice in the universe. He only reacted once quivers ran through your fingertips, seizing your hand and pressing it harder against his chest, as if to remind you that beneath those translucent scars, his heart still remained the same—still alive, beating, racing, because of you, only for you.
You curled your fingers, still couldn’t wash away the dread. “I know you can’t change who you are,” you continued, your voice laced with tears. “And I know you have no other options but to do your duty, which is why I always try my best not to stop you from leaving. But today, for some reason, I feel anxious. It almost feels the same as how I felt on the day I almost lost you. It’s probably nothing, but… Right now, it’s suffocating me.”
The tension was palpable between you, leaving you to ponder whether you had spoken too much. Perhaps it would’ve been wiser for you not to speak at all. You blinked back your tears, wiping the ones that already crossed the edges with the heel of your palm. You felt mortified for baring your feelings out in the open, for being so theatrical about it.
“I’m sorry. I’m being so dramatic, aren’t I?” You forced out a laugh; the desire to flee the scene was almost too tempting to refuse. It didn’t help that he hadn’t spoken a word, leaving you shrouded by your own perception of his feelings. Have you upset him? Troubled him? Or maybe even hurt him in some way? Just the thought of it brought more fresh tears to emerge in your eyes.
“I—” You cast your face to the side. “I should go check on our baby—”
Your husband caught you by your wrist, stopping you before you could escape, his touch firm but far from painful. His eyes were hidden underneath the curtain of his raven strands, but the way he pressed his lips so tautly together, enough for them to grow white, clearly indicated how much he took your words seriously.
“I’m scared, too.”
His confession, spoken barely above a whisper, left you stunned. Out of all the things you thought he’d say at this moment, that was never one of them.
You pivoted around to face him. “Jin… woo..?”
It took him a moment to compose his words as if he lacked the bravery to come clean, to showcase his vulnerability. It was as if he had spent an eternity trying to keep these words all to himself, fighting back all the intentions to reveal this frail side of him to you, afraid of how you’d react, if he’d sadden you with it.
“I’m terrified, Sweetheart,” he repeated, quiet, almost breathlessly. “Not of death, but leaving you.” The lines of his face were strained, filled with consternation. “I know how it feels to lose those important to me. No matter how strong I get, no matter how hard I try, I still can’t protect everyone. I’ve lost my friends in battles. I’ve lost my father. And I nearly lost my mother and my sister, too. I know exactly how it feels, and it haunts me every day more than you could imagine.”
His face twisted in sadness, almost in agony at the recollection of the precious lives that slipped through his hands, but that amount of pain felt small in comparison to how he felt when he added, “But you…” His fingertips trailed an invisible path down your cheek. “You and our daughter… You’re beyond that. You’re not just my family; you’re fragments of me. The hardest part of my mission is never about dealing with my enemies. It’s this moment right here, right now, bidding you goodbye and watching you smile back at me with your heart breaking in your eyes, thinking that you’d never get to see me again. You’re constantly on my mind, Sweetheart, every second of every day. And I always worry that something will happen to you while I’m gone. That you won’t be here to meet me at the door when I come home. That I’d be too late, and I wouldn’t be able to find you, to save you, even if I searched the whole world for you.”
His throat felt parched, his voice so close to shattering. “With my power, no matter where you are, no matter how far you are from me, I can run back to you the moment I sense danger around you, but it will take me a second, and a second could change everything. You saw what happened with Jinah, didn’t you? I managed to save her right on time, but if I had arrived only a second later, I would’ve lost her. And if I… If you were in the same position… And I was a second too late on my way back to you… If I lost you forever…” He took one last step toward you, and he crumbled, his body sinking forward, his head falling to your shoulder. “I wouldn’t know how to live my life anymore…” A shaky breath escaped him. “Not without you…”
The amount of fear that radiated through his body was almost appalling. It was hard to believe someone so strong could tremble like this at the thought of losing you.
Jinwoo lifted his head, gathering your face in his hands, his eyes carrying the weight of a broken man. “I know it’s hard for you to watch me leave…” He pressed your foreheads together, his eyes closed in the sliver of bliss from being so close to you, but his eyebrows remained furrowed, tense from the pain and the horror of being separated from the other half of his soul. “And I will never make light of your feelings, but you also need to know just how unbearable it is for me to walk away from you…”
You squeezed your teeth together behind your lips, your vision blurred by your tears. You could only offer a shaky nod in response, afraid you’d be sobbing if you let a word slip out of you.
“It tears me apart just to kiss you goodbye, Sweetheart.” He returned the small distance between you, gently brushing your tears away with his thumb. “Every single time I leave, it’s like cutting off a piece of me, and you don’t know how much, just how much I want to stay and be with you right now—to spend every second of my life with you, so I can stop you from looking at me with those eyes. So I can put your heart at ease.” He lifted your face just enough to meet your crystalline eyes. “Don’t ever think I want to choose my duty over you. You are always, always, the most important thing in my life.”
It was the first time you saw him so fragile, so exposed, and you could feel just how much your presence in his life affected him. You were his weakness, his only weakness.
You quickly collected yourself, desperate to assure him. “I know…” Speaking in your softest voice, you reached out to touch him, to cup his cheek, to do anything you could to soothe him even when you, yourself, were so close to breaking. “I know how much you care about me—about us—and I’m happy, Jinwoo. You don’t know how glad I am to have a husband like you. So strong” —you brushed a featherlight kiss on his cheek—“yet, so kind”—on his jawline—“and so, so gentle.” You planted the last one on his lips, as soft and tender as how you whispered his name. “And yes, of course, I understand how hard it is for you. This is why I didn’t want to say anything at first. I didn’t want to make you feel this way. I didn’t want to make you worry more than you already did. And I’m…” You caressed his cheekbone with your thumb. “I’m sorry for speaking my thoughts out loud just now. I shouldn’t have said anything, at least not now when you’re about to leave.”
He let out a sigh under your comforting touch, almost yearning. Covering your hand with his own, he sank his face further into your palm like a child leaning to his mother’s touch. “No, don’t be sorry,” he shook his head, his lids shutting at the feeling of your warmth seeping into his pores. “I’m glad you could be honest with me. Thank you. I can breathe easy now, knowing that you’re safe.”
When he stared down at you, your smile for him was the softest, the sweetest it had ever been. It reminded him almost of his mother’s, the way it carried so much love, affection, adoration, and, most importantly, appreciation. As someone who held nearly limitless power, the constant efforts he made to save the world were never overlooked. Still, more often than not, people chose not to express their gratitude, saying he was merely doing his job as an S-Rank Hunter, taking everything he did for granted. You had seen just how cruel the public voice could be when they spoke ill of him, not long after the Jeju Raid ended.
Hunter Min Byung-Gu’s life could’ve been saved if Sung Jinwoo had appeared sooner! Yeah, where the hell was he anyway? Why didn’t he join the raid from the start? Was he scared? Hey, hey, I heard he refused to join the raid at first. Does he not realize his responsibility as an S-Rank Hunter? Embarrassing, right? S-Rank Hunters are supposed to be selfless heroes! Sung Jinwoo is not one of them!
Your husband never let these derisions get to him, but they got to you. It pained you, angered you to see these words spreading online like wildfire, but you couldn’t do much to change their opinions, and even if you could, it wouldn’t have mattered. Jinwoo never cared about them. He cared about you, about what you think of him, and fortunately for him, you were always there to appreciate every little thing he did. He didn’t have to save the world to impress you. You were already grateful for his presence, even just by seeing him plant a little kiss on your daughter’s head.
“Thank you, Jinwoo,” you softly said, “for making the world a better place for me and our daughter to live in. But more than that, thank you for all the efforts you made as my husband and as the father of our child. For making time for us even when you were losing sleep, drained after all the raids. I’m sure your baby is grateful, too, for all the tea parties you had with her.”
He laughed a little, still carrying a hint of melancholy. “She can be quite demanding sometimes.”
“Yes, she can, but you’re always patient with her, and I adore you for that.” You stroked his cheek. “You’re a hero to us in more ways than one. You’re everything we want you—need you to be, and for that, I’ll always be grateful to you.”
His jaws clasped together like a floodgate, preventing his emotions from bursting beyond control. He nodded once, a bit bashful but visibly delighted by your lines. With a quiet giggle, you kissed the tip of his nose. “What, getting shy now?”
He responded with a chuckle, pretty roses blooming in his cheeks. “No, I’m just happy. You always know what to say to lift the weight off my shoulders. And I wish I could say something to ease your mind, too, but…” He broke away from your touch, returning your gaze. “I don’t know what the future holds for me. I can lie to you and tell you that nothing could harm me, but I know you wouldn’t want that. So, all I can offer you right now is my promise.” He brought your hand closer to his face, his lips engraving the words directly to the bumps of your knuckles. “I promise that I will do anything, everything within my power, to come home to you.”
Your heart still splintered, but it wasn’t nearly as agonizing anymore. Perhaps it was all due to his vow. Or maybe you’ve learned how to withstand the pain, to welcome it as a part of you, knowing it was something you couldn’t chase away, something that would only be repeated in the future. “Jinwoo—”
A pair of soft lips captured your own, your face held, your words stolen. The sudden kiss was chaste, almost innocent, just pure romance beneath the bitterness of a farewell. Jinwoo pulled away but only barely, the tip of his nose still grazing your cheek.
“I love you,” he whispered, his warm breath, sweet and intoxicating, fanning your lips. “I love you so much, Sweetheart, more than I could bear.”
You looked up at him, your heartbeat roaring in your ears. “I love you, too.”
Another kiss, another soft touch from a man you’d sworn to love unconditionally. But the gentleness of your colliding lips, the innocence of it, could never last long, always replaced by something more arduous. A hint of his longing for you, his craving, showed in the way he molded your lips beneath his, and within seconds, his kiss turned deep, controlling, consuming. His arm slithered around your waist, pressing your body close against him, tight enough for you to wonder if you could just melt into him, be a part of him. Perhaps then, you could be wherever he was. A world where you don’t have to bid him goodbye… Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
His breathing turned uneven by the time he ended the kiss, enthralled and far from satisfied. And just like him, you couldn’t do much but stare at the shape of his pretty mouth in your haze.
“You asked me if I’d let the world burn for you.” His voice turned raspy, hoarse with need, his eyes watching the way his thumb glided over your slicked lips. He pressed down on your bottom one, and you parted your mouth in response, an act so natural, it made his gaze heavy with lust. “I’d do it,” he said, stealing your breath with it. “I’d watch the world burn to the ground just to be with you for a second longer. All you need to do is say the words.”
Your eyes turned round, your heart thrashing inside your ribcages. You could see the conviction in his eyes, giving you as much joy as the fear that dawned upon you.
The safety of the world did not lie in Sung Jinwoo’s hands. It was in yours.
Your ardent love, intense and overflowing, rushed to your hands, crumpling the front of his coat as you brought him back to you for another taste of his lips. You pulled your husband down to you, to where he belonged, to where he should stay, your mouth meeting his in a searing kiss. You were the gravity that pulled him in, the spark of fire to reignite the flames within him. And you wanted to kiss him forever, to have his hands on your body, to be close enough for you to—
Jinwoo suddenly stiffened in your arms, breaking off the kiss so abruptly that it left your mind reeling for a second. A frown sketched over the lines in his forehead, irritation glinting in his eyes.
Your heart plummeted, unsure of what you did wrong. “W-what is it?”
“Nothing,” he sighed exasperatedly, massaging the bridge of his nose. “I just heard Igris talking in my ear, reminding me of my schedule. What time is it now?” He lifted his wrist, glancing at the silver watch. “Damn it.” He clicked his tongue; his vexation doubled. “I guess I really have to go.” But his eyes, like always, found their way home to you, and he took you in once more, this breathtaking view of you with your face flushed, your lips all red and bruised and glistening with his spit. “And it’s probably better if I leave now before I get, umm…” He noticeably swallowed, trying to rein in the desire to take you here against the wall. “Carried away.”
With flames kissing your cheeks, you tossed your stare to the floor. “Y-You’re right. Sorry.”
“‘Sorry?’” Jinwoo tittered, the sound soft and wonderful in your ears. Lifting your face by the chin, he tilted his head slightly to the side, adoring you. “It was my pleasure, Sweetheart.”
His smirk, his voice… He seemed so effortlessly sexy when he said it that it turned you sheepish. You removed yourself from him. “S-so, umm… When will you be back again exactly?”
“Six days from now. A week, maybe.”
Your shoulders sagged. He could’ve said six years, and it would probably sound just as torturous. “Okay…”
“Come on, baby,” he smiled softly despite his heart breaking just the same. “Don’t be like this.” He rubbed his knuckles against your cheek before he poked you lightly with his finger, making you giggle from it. “I’ll make it up to you once I get home, okay? Anything you want me to do—anything at all—I’ll do it.”
“Anything?”
His previously impish smile fully morphed into a devilish grin. “Anything.”
“Hopefully, it’s not something sexual,” you narrowed your eyes playfully at him.
“Hopefully, it is.” His chuckles didn't last long, followed shortly by a heavy sigh. “Can I hug my wife one last time?”
You stilled, your breath caught in your throat. “It’s not the last time.”
He blinked before he understood his mistake, sadness coating the soft bow of his lips once he did. “Sorry. Poor choice of words.” He spread his arms wide, waiting for you to return to his warmth with the softest smile on his face. “I mean, can I hug you one more time before I go? And touch you endlessly once I get home?”
Contentment suffused you at once, and you answered him by carving the shape of your smile against his lips, your fingers coiled against the front of his coat. You made sure to keep your kiss light, not wanting to repeat the same mistake of drowning in desire. You weren’t sure you could escape it should it happen again. But even so, when you parted from him, you couldn’t deny the tension between you. Like magnets, you were drawn together. Just the slightest brush of your skin meeting his could turn it into a force beyond your control.
You tried to distract him—or rather, yourself. “H-hey, you said Igris talked to you before. Does that mean he… saw what we were doing?” This was the first time it happened, as Jinwoo had always been careful in the past not to let his shadow soldiers witness your intimate acts. Whenever you two were together, your husband would always command his army to shut down all their senses for a moment, to give you the privacy you needed. You weren’t sure why Igris could see you now, but the thought horrified you. “I’ve always been awkward with him because he doesn’t talk much and seems so… noble. If he saw us kissing like that, I… I don’t think I could face him again. Especially after…” You kept on rambling, driven out of shame, submerged at the thought of seeing the dark knight again after he witnessed everything that happened between you and his master.
Unbeknownst to you, Jinwoo’s eyes darkened, completely lost in the view. Seeing you like this, standing so small and fidgety before him, looking so flustered that you couldn’t handle meeting his eyes when you spoke—
God, I want to ruin her.
I want to make her all mine again.
His nails scraped against his palm as he tried to find restraint, his throat burning with the desire to claim you, to taste you, to drink everything you give him. You were asking him a question, weren’t you? Something about Igris. Fuck, he couldn’t remember it. He couldn’t pay attention to any of the lines you said, watching how your mouth shaped the words but not registering them. Your voice was a whisper in his ear, easily drowned by the filthy thoughts that grew even more vehemently with each second passing by.
“Honey?”
At your call, he averted his gaze. One more second looking at you, and he would’ve succumbed to his needs. “Hmm?”
“I asked you if Igris saw us.”
“Huh? Oh, right. Yes, they saw it.”
“Wait—They?”
“Yeah, the entire army, basically.” Though he wanted to seem apologetic, his grin betrayed him. “I was too absorbed with you that I forgot to tell them to close their eyes.”
You gaped, colors draining fast from your face. “Jinwoo! ”
He laughed quietly at your reaction, catching the little punches you threw to his chest. “Baby, relax. So what if they saw us kissing? You’re my love.”
Your stomach somersaulted at the word he chose. He could’ve just said my wife instead of my love. It would've been easier for your heart. “Well, I don’t want them to see that…” Another pout, another wild urge he had to chase away before he bruised your lips with his own. You exhaled. For some reason, you felt exhausted. “Though it’s… sweet how Igris tried to keep you from running late. That should’ve been my job. Did he just pop up, tell you to go, and then disappear again?” The vision of it looked funny in your head because surely, he must’ve been embarrassed seeing us like that, right?
“Actually, he told me to stay.” Your husband wound his arms around your waist, drawing you closer before he rested them on your curves. “He said that I should just send him there and let him take care of the gate for me. So I can be here with my queen.”
“‘Your queen?”’ You repeated, couldn’t help but feel amused even though you were touched by how caring the dark knight was to your family.
Scarlet tinged his cheek. “His words, not mine.”
“I see. So, I’m not your queen, then?”
The shade deepened as he tossed his face to the side. “Of”—he cleared his throat, his voice reducing to a mumble—“Of course, you are.”
You giggled, and your husband softened into another smile, staring at you affectionately. He seemed glad that you’d rediscovered the strength to throw a jest or two.
“Well, as much as I don’t wish for my king to go,” you dawdled with your words, building expectations as you glided one hand up his chest. You could feel the ridges of his lean, taut muscles underneath his shirt. A wave of desire pooled inside your stomach, threatening to resurface if you weren’t being careful. “The world needs him. Even if I keep you to myself now, you’re bound to leave for another mission sooner or later. I’ve come to realize that…” You paused to gain control of your emotions, your hands fixing his collar in your attempt to seek distraction. “The best way to deal with this is by getting myself used to it. Get used to this feeling that you leave me when you kiss me goodbye. I have to teach myself to be patient, as it will only be a matter of time before my husband returns. I think that’s what I have to do,” you smiled at him, shy amidst the mischievousness that you previously displayed. “As your queen.”
His heart thawed at your lines, cradling you close enough by the shoulders to bury his face in your hair, breathing in your scent, memorizing it so he could recall this sense of peace you gave him when he was miles away from you. Even without words, you could tell just how proud he was of you. “Thank you,” he murmured against your temple. He kept you this way for a moment, his nose nuzzling against your strands until he remembered how time would never be merciful to him. “I really have to go, baby…”
“I know…”
But when he pulled away, he couldn’t find the strength to detach his gaze from you, caught in a conflict between his feelings and his responsibility. “I’ll be…”—he traced your cheek, his gaze falling to your lips—“back soon, okay…?”
You nibbled at the corner of your lip, causing him to nearly groan at the sight. You didn’t mean to entice him; you were just nervous under his hooded gaze, your body brimming with anticipation. You knew he wanted another kiss, another touch, and you wanted thousands of them, but— “Okay…”
Jinwoo moved closer, as close as he could be, his face hovering merely a few inches from yours. Nothing but desire resided in his eyes, his voice low and husky when he spoke, “Don’t miss me too much…”
It was like the air crackled between you, invisible hands drawing you together. Your fingers twined a little tighter around the front of his coat, itching to tug him down and erase the millimeters of space separating your lips. “I’ll try…” You replied with shivers in your breath, and in a moment of weakness, your gaze cascaded to his lips.
And seeing that, he snapped.
All shadows. Leave us. Now.
“Jin—mmph!” You were pushed back against the wall, your body lifted to your toes, and your lips devoured. He couldn’t do it. Whatever battle he was fighting inside, he lost it the moment he realized you wanted him just the same, and he didn’t care. You were still his prize to claim, your taste was his to consume, your warmth was his to take, and he drowned in you almost instantly, his fingers possessively grabbing your face, leaving you with no choice but to accept his kiss, to accept whatever it was he planned to give you.
Without wasting a second, he wedged his knee between your legs, parting them open and having his thigh pressed firmly against your core. You gasped against his mouth, your body clinging onto him, shuddering at the thrilling sensation. “J-Jinwoo—”
“I know,” he replied shortly, almost in a growl, breathless against your mouth. “I need you, too, so just—” He pressed your body tight against him, his lips placed upon yours again with such urgency as if being separated from you for merely a second deprived him of all the oxygen he needed.
The last thread of restraint in your head forced you to place your hands on his chest. Despite your aching need to rub yourself against his thigh, you voiced your thoughts aloud between lustful kisses. “Wait—we shouldn’t—mmph—”
With a grunt, he removed your hands from him, pinning them against the wall as he ceaselessly devoured your mouth. He kept you that way, trapped and caged within his hold. “Y-you have to go,” you managed to whimper out, your body tensing as he trailed open-mouthed kisses down your throat.
Jinwoo finally broke away, his face flushed, painted over with nothing but ardor. “Want me to stop?”
Your heart thrashed wildly inside your chest. The huskiness in his voice, the way his breathing turned heavy at the sight of you—what women would say no?
“Come here.” You pulled him back to you, begged him for another kiss, a wish that he was so eager to comply. Struggling to match his pace, you found yourself clawing at the back of his trench coat, one of your legs hooking around his thigh as he pushed your dress up to your stomach, revealing more soft skin and supple flesh for him to grip and sink his nails into. He grunted against your neck, a string of expletives among sinful praises, and you shut your eyes, head thrown back at the thrill of having him act so needy, so desperate for you.
You couldn’t care about anything, not anymore, but your memory recalled the sour look he made when he checked on his watch a moment ago. How much time do we have until he really needs to go? “Jinwoo—ah—” You felt his teeth grinding not so gently against your skin, marking you as if he wanted to leave something for you to remember him by, to ache for in your wake. “W-what time should you be leaving—”
His fingers circled your throat, holding you dominantly in his grip. “Ten minutes ago. Open your mouth.”
He deepened the kiss as soon as you parted your lips for him, moaning at the burst of your taste on his tongue. You welcomed his taste with a gasp, your hands now crawling up his nape, his hair, making a nest out of his strands the same way he made a mess out of you. His tongue delved inside, begging for a sliver of your sweetness, but you wanted to give him everything, and you did, your tongue sliding against his own, kissing him as if this was your last time to remember just how amazing he felt against you, lips to lips, tongue to tongue, body to body. All the fear you had over his departure, all the love you held for him, they dissolved into one, into this burning ache that permeated your core, the need to have him close.
And God, you wanted more, wanted him so badly, it felt like torture.
“Fuck,” Jinwoo groaned, followed quickly by a low moan of your name. He was really trying to hold back, to only settle down for a kiss or two, but— “Why do you have to be so goddamn irresistible all the time?”
He was suffering just the same, one hand slamming against the door to maintain his distance, to keep him away from crushing you, from becoming one with you. It balled into a fist, evidence of what was left of his self-control; his fingers clenched so tightly that it painted his knuckles white and his palm crimson. His other arm snaked around your waist as his mouth sucked bruises on your collarbone, his nails clawing against the fabric of your dress, eager to tear it apart right then, right there. Rough, sinful noises continued to stream past his lips as you brought your lower half even closer to him, the sound low and deep; it was almost primal.
“Ngh, baby, please—” He pleaded with his eyebrows sewn together, his jaw slackening at the sensation of you pushing your hips back, grinding on him. You could feel just how hard he was beneath his pants, the contour of his cock nudging deliciously against your clothed heat. It excited you, your heart swelling in satisfaction at how fast you could turn the most powerful man in the world into a desperate lover with only a few touches. Only you had this power over him, and he made sure to worship you for it.
His body reacted instinctively, rocking his hips against yours, quickly taking over control. Somewhere in the labyrinth of your mind, a voice reminded you to stop, he’s already late as it is, and you can’t do this here, not outside, not for everyone’s eyes to see, but when Jinwoo caught your earlobe between his teeth, his voice dangerous and guttural when he said, “God, Sweetheart, you don’t know how much I want to be inside you right now,” all you could think was—
Yes, please.
You smashed your lips against his, your fingers tugging hard at the roots of his hair, robbing another shameless moan out of him. He welcomed your burning passion, reciprocating it by doubling the intensity. None of you gave a damn where you were or what time it was; none of it mattered, not anymore. You just needed him, and he needed you. Not just want. Need.
Jinwoo unclasped his belt with one hand while keeping hold of your face with the other; his movements rushed, lacking the usual grace that he normally exuded. You were sure he didn’t mean to tear your lingerie apart, but even if he did, it would’ve only added more fuel to the shimmering flames inside you. Now that your bottom half was bare and exposed, he took himself out of his confinement, holding his length in one hand, his tongue gliding over his bottom lip as he rubbed his tip against your protruding clit.
You shivered, your hips swaying on their own, begging him to just ram it inside. “Jinwoo, please.”
“You’re gonna make me lose my mind,” he growled, lifting your body higher on the wall, making you hold on to nothing but him to fight back gravity. “Arms around my neck,” he commanded, his mouth hot against your jawline. His coat slid off his shoulders as he positioned himself over your entrance, pooling around his elbows.
But then, Jinwoo slowed down amidst the heat of your passion, just for a moment. Even as his desire consumed him from within, your consent remained a top priority. He needed to make sure that he wasn’t hurting you or, worse, doing anything you didn’t want him to. Your husband took a second to look at you, wanting you to give your permission out loud even when all his heightened senses and perceptions had found their answer a while ago. “Can I have you?”
Your reply came in the shape of you carding your fingers through his locks again, your mouth colliding with his as you spread your legs a little wider. “Yes,” you breathed out. “I need you, please—oh!”
You felt him pushing himself inside the second your plea left your mouth, stretching all of your walls at once.
“Ah, fuck,” Jinwoo groaned deep and loud, slamming one hand against the wall, the vein in his neck popping from beneath his pale skin. His reaction was almost as if he’d never experienced such pleasure before, his body trembling at the feeling of your heat tightening around him, so drenched inside that you could take him—his everything—all in one go. “God, you feel so good.” He locked your lips together again, moaning at the feeling of being shrouded by your warmth. He moved his hips tentatively to ensure your comfort, but he surrendered immediately after the first try. “Sorry, Sweetheart, I don’t think I can—ngh—hold back—”
He began to move, his teeth nibbling on the skin of your shoulder to contain his grunts, his hips thrusting fast and rough, sliding himself in and out of you in the desperation of a heated beast seeking a release. Just like him, you were feeling it much more than anything you’d ever done with him. Maybe it was the place, the sensation of doing something so indecent, so out in the open. Maybe it was because you were both trying so desperately to comfort yourselves, to forget your upcoming separation, even only for a moment. Or maybe it was simply because you loved him so ardently, the same way he did about you.
Now that the sun had sunk entirely below the horizon, the night was nearly pitch black. No stars were in sight, as if they grew too shy to witness something so obscene. Detecting the darkness around you, the lights around the house switched on automatically, illuminating the entryway and the lush garden around you with a warm, romantic glow. The magical view of the scenery usually brought a sense of serenity to your heart, but no, not that night. Not when you were stuck in a very compromising position with your husband. The worst one of all was the three pendant lights shining brightly above you, dangling from your high ceilings, exposing the way your bodies rocked together in rapid, rhythmless motions for the whole world to see.
You couldn’t help but be distracted by them, your body tensing. If anyone were passing by, with the way your husband had you pinned against the wall, your heels digging to the small of his back, your fingers tugging on the roots of his hair, they would discover you in a heartbeat.
“J-Jinwoo—wait—the lights—”
With his lips sucking hard bruises on your neck, Jinwoo lifted one hand in the air and clenched his fingers into a fist. All the lightbulbs shattered at once, their sounds piercing the air, stealing a surprised yelp out of you, which he silenced immediately with his mouth. The same invisible force shielded you from the pieces of glass raining down from the ceiling, leaving your heart rattling in your chest but your skin uninjured.
You were embraced by the darkness again, though it was never as thick as you would love it to be. The silver moonlight still bathed your skin, and the golden shine of the bollard lights surrounding your garden remained bright enough for you to discern your husband’s features, but at least, you no longer felt like you were standing under the spotlight. You still couldn’t entirely chase your anxiety away, however, and noticing that, Jinwoo captured your face, his fingers pressed firmly on each side of your jaw.
"Focus on me,” he said, palm plastered against the front of your throat. Although pain was absent from his touch, his hold on you was firm, controlling, his voice commanding. “I don’t want you to think about anything else. Keep your eyes on me. Focus on how I’m making you feel right now.”
And it felt good. He made you feel so damn good that by the time he plunged himself deep into you again, you found yourself crying out against his mouth, clutching onto him like a lifeline. Jinwoo was just as deep in rapture as you were, unintentionally ripping the top buttons of your dress in his desperation to taste more of your skin. He was beyond aggressive, unrestrained, and impatient, and God, you loved it. You couldn’t remember the last time he was like this, and the feelings brought you quickly to ecstasy.
You were close, your pleasure building up faster than it ever did. “Jinwoo, I’m—”
“I know,” he moaned against your shoulder, his teeth just one pressure away from sinking into your flesh. “I’m close too, angel, just a little bit… ngh… more…”
He quickened his pace, taking his cock completely out of you only to drive himself back to the hilt, each thrust hard enough to knock the breath out of your lungs. You fell over the edge with your lips parted in a silent moan, your nails scraping against the back of his shirt, your legs shaking, tautening around him as you reached cloud nine.
The sensation of your walls closing in around his cock was almost too much to bear, but he needed that one single push, just one sweet moan from you in the shape of his name, to make him grasp that vigorous wave of euphoria. “Sweetheart, please—”
Knowing exactly what he was begging for, you embraced him closely by the neck, gripped his soft locks beneath your fingers, and whispered the words he’d been dying to hear right against his mouth.
“I love you, Jinwoo.”
He shuddered, his skin breaking into goosebumps, and he finished inside you with a deep, gravelly groan erupting from the back of his throat. His hips stuttered, slowing down but not yet stopping until he finished spilling everything inside. His breaths came out raggedly, hot against your neck. His left hand was still glued to the wall beside your head.
As your tremors began to dissipate, your husband carefully placed you back on your feet, holding you close until you could stand on your own. Your legs felt like jelly beneath your weight, your strength leaving you after experiencing what might be one of the most mind-blowing orgasms you’d ever had.
“That was… intense,” Jinwoo tittered breathlessly, his hair all tousled, his face the prettiest shade of pink. It mesmerized you just how stunning he looked like this, and it satisfied you more than anything to know that you would always be the one—the only one—who could see this side of him, who could bring this side of him into view. Little did you know he was thinking the same thing about you. The way you stood there, gazing up at him with your starry eyes slightly watery from your orgasm, your dress torn and crumpled, your skin marked and claimed. He could easily go for another round—or three—if you let him.
“You okay?” He asked as he swatted the stray strands out of your eyes, helping you with your dress before he fixed his own attire. You nodded a bit drunkenly, and he let out another chuckle before planting a soft kiss on your temple. “I’m sorry for ruining your dress.”
“And my panties,” you added, snatching the torn fabric away from your heel. You stared flatly at it, your tone monotonous when you said, “Unbelievable. This is the third time, Jinwoo. Three times you’ve done this to me."
He was embarrassed by it. So cute. “I’m sorry.”
“No, you’re not sorry,” you teased him with a poke on his cheek. “Buy me another one? The dress, I mean. I don’t trust you with my lingerie after what you bought me last time.”
He laughed softly at the memory. “I’ll buy you the prettiest one. Promise.” Brushing a light kiss on your temple, he spoke his worry once more. “How are you feeling? Did I hurt you?”
The genuine concern in his tone caused your joy to unfold. In all honesty, yes, he did, but every pain was welcomed—no, every pain was desired, and you wished you could have more. More consuming kisses that left your lips swollen. More love bites on your neck that would last until he returned home. More bruises on your hips and thighs from how hard he was holding you. It felt nice to be dominated, to be owned, to be so wanted by your husband that he lost control of himself, of his mind.
“What?” Jinwoo raised a brow, looking at you funny. “Why are you smiling like that?”
“Nothing,” you replied with a sheepish smile, stroking his cheek. But with him looking at you with such confusion in his eyes, you felt like you owed him the truth. “I just realized you never fucked me this way before, and it scares me just how much I enjoyed it.”
He blushed at your words, so fervently that you wondered if this was the same man who had just mounted you like a beast in heat a moment ago. But then he laughed, the sound so delicate and pretty in your ears. “I was going to apologize for being carried away, but…” He bent his head down, bringing himself to your eye level as a smirk crept up his lips. “If that’s what you’re into, then I have so much more in store for you.”
You swallowed, your skin tingling with excitement at the thought. “W-we can try that after you get home. Don’t you have a plane to catch?”
“Shit, you’re right.” As unbelievable as it was, he had truly forgotten about it. Jinwoo hastily rummaged through his pocket for his car key, racing against time. “Okay, I’ll be leaving now.” He kissed you quickly, almost making you stumble from how fast he was grabbing your face. “Goodbye, love. I’ll see you soon.”
“Jinwoo, wait,” you giggled, tugging him back by his arm. “You got my lipstick all over you.” You rubbed your thumb over his lips, trying to wipe off the red stain. “And your hair’s mess. Do you have a comb with you?”
“It’s all right, I love it like this.” He tossed you a boyish smile. “It feels like I’m carrying a part of you with me, like some kind of proof that reminds me of what we just did.” He then continued in a whisper, his smirk grazing your earlobe. “The same way you’re carrying a part of me… inside you.”
You grew mortified, all due to his words and the feeling of his essence seeping out of you. You could feel it trickling down your thigh before you squeezed your legs together, face aflame. “Leave. Now.” You whirled his body around, shoving him forward. “And tell your shadow soldiers to help me change the lights. I can’t believe you used your skill for that.”
He tossed you a grin over his shoulder. “Gotta make the best use of what I have, Sweetheart.”
“I don’t think Igris would be happy to know that you’re using Ruler's Hand for sex.”
“Oh, baby, trust me, if I were planning to use Ruler’s Hand for sex, bursting lightbulbs would be at the bottom of the list.” His smirk carried the promise of something lewd, something naughty. “And also, if I’m happy, all my soldiers are happy, Igris included. And I’m definitely happy right now, all thanks to my sweet girl.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” you snorted despite heat filling your cheeks. “Now go before Jinho kills you.”
He chortled softly, “Yes, Ma’am.”
You watched him stride away with your hands on your hips, sighing despite the way your lips curved up in amusement. You were going to miss these little banters you have. Some parts of you still refused to let him go, but when Jinwoo rolled down his window, giving you one last smile with one hand on the steering wheel, all you could say was, “Come home to me, darling.”
“I will, baby.”
And as he drove into the night, disappearing from your sight and leaving your heart lamenting in your chest, you knew you had no choice but to put your faith in him. This wouldn’t be the last time you see him. It would never be. Jinwoo would make sure of that.
Because if he had to watch the world burn for it, for you, then so be it.
Heaven or hell, Gods or the Devils, I’ll destroy them all.
As long as I can come home to you, Sweetheart, nothing else matters. ***
