I’ve been hard at work the past few days on this freehand colored pencil portrait of Michael Scott. It’s been a challenge but fun. I’ve tried drawing Steve as Michael Scott at least three other times and I was never happy with the result. I’ve been working extra hard to try to get this one right. Just thought I’d share this. It’s always encouraging to see growth. Both drawings were done freehand (no guides, no grids, no tracing, no rulers, etc). The left one was 2015, the right one was this month. I hope to improve with each drawing. Here’s the finished scan of my freehand colored pencil Michael Scott drawing. :) I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do the background freehand but I wanted to rise to the challenge. It’s not perfect by any means, but the source image looked funky too :) It’s all colored pencil except for some marker base for his suit and a little paint pen on his pupil highlights.
