Little Witch Academia Background Witch Ships
Hello everyone, back again with another post of mine! This time about my ideas on which BG Girls I ship together. Now yes, I do heavily ship Diakko, Chariox, Barbtte, Hamanda, whatever the ship name for Jasminka and Constanze is. But, I think this would still be fun to post about! I think it would also be fun if I put thoughts for how I can see these ships working. Also, some of these points were made by my friend http://shintorikhazumi.tumblr.com, so I'll be pointing out her ideas for how the ships work. Now enough chit chat, let the list begin~!
Avery x Mary
My Thoughts:
Avery x Mary goes something like this. Since Avery and Mary are in the same dorm room, they interact a lot. I can imagine Avery finding Mary annoying and idiotic at first, but after getting to know her more, she soon finds out that Mary is just pretty excitable and just wanted to be friends, yet is still rather idiotic. As for Mary, she doesn't take things personally so she just takes Avery's coldness in stride. After talking with each other, Avery and some point singing to Mary, and Mary showing Avery some movies she likes, I imagine that that's where the relationship starts.
Khaz's Thoughts:
I kinda fancy the idea of Avery hiding that she likes to sing at first, and Mary finding out in some random way, and tries to use the topic to get closer to Avery, but the latter gets annoyed with that at first, because it's something she never really shares with anyone.
Joanna x Kimberly
My Thoughts:
The thing about the LNNN Crew is that they don't have much on them, except Wangari. Wangari is a bit eccentric but she's also kind and always looking for interesting news. My friend says in Chamber of Time, Joanna is a lot more eccentric, the only thing they remember her doing is yelling about scoops and taking pictures. And Kimberly seems to be eerily quiet, always taking notes, basically really creepy. I've been roleplaying with said friend for more than a couple of years now, and we've had multiple rp's where I play Joanna to be perky, easily excitable, prone to getting easily distracted, hyper, a bit weird and strange most of the time, and very caring. We've kept Kimberly being eerie, pretty distant, rather even scary at times. However, she has a soft spot for her teammates, especially Joanna. Joanna loves to hold and cuddle Kimberly, and Kimberly loves how affectionate Joanna is. Wangari thinks its rather cute how they interact.
Khaz's Thoughts:
Yeah, you really don't get much to work with considering other characters. So even in writing, it's more like, left up to interpretation for most haha. Like how you write them, but built off this base you're given in the anime and minimal resource. That is an interesting take tho.
Sola x Rajani and Rashmi
You see, the two love Sola to no end, and Sola really loves them too. But, the twins are also rather possessive of her. Keep her close to them and even spying on her at times to make sure no one makes a move on her. They even do that thing where they stand behind Sola and do that scary-ominous-in-the-shadows-threatening-look you see in anime when someone tries to flirt with her. So yeah, they make sure Sola is their's to be that close with, and no one else.
Khaz's Thoughts:
So the twins are sharing? "Sharing" essentially? Haha~! That would make for cute balance dynamics, and playing around especially when they have those slight comparisons or jealous episodes. The healthy ones. It's one thing to be jealous of other people and protecting her together, then it's another if it's towards each other. That jealousy. Haha~!
Sucy x Irene
My Thoughts:
Well, for these two it falls mostly in line with their interests. You see, both Sucy and Irene love to prank people, and both aren't the best students. I imagine the relationship starts with them pranking each other, and getting spooked by each other's pranks. Sucy notices how small Irene is (like she's literally Constanze and Sola sized), and begins to follow her. Irene is pretty annoyed by this and constantly tells Sucy to go away. But, Sucy soon gives her advice on how to make her pranks better, and on how not to get caught. So, Irene starts to get slightly used to Sucy. After sometime, Irene starts to hang out with Sucy and even calls her a friend. But, her roommates don't like this, often trying to at times keeping her away from Sucy, and making her improve her grades. Sucy finds loop holes around this though, and sneaks her way to see Irene again. This develops into Irene's roommates and Sucy hating eachother, seeing the other as either an obstacle to seeing her friend, or as a bad influence that needs to stay away. Pretty soon, Sucy starts hugging Irene or picking her up. And this is pretty easy since she's small. Irene's pretty annoyed by this everytime it happens and always demands to be put down, with Sucy not really complying. Irene tries struggling, but even she can't deny it feels nice. Sucy says she doesn't know why she always does this, but it clearly bothers her that she can't explain this. After awhile, Irene is used to this and pretty much lets Sucy hold her. After that, Sucy realizes she's in love with Irene, and she clearly doesn't like that. She's not suppose to have this feeling for anyone, its too embarrassing! But, she soon caves in and tells Irene how she feels, to which Irene reveals that she felt the same way. And so, that's how their relationship starts!
Khaz's Thoughts:
The Sucy following Irene sounds so adorable! Especially if it's just Sucy quietly stalking after her, in that hunched, almost just a cape wrapped around her form like when they went to Andrew's. Seeing that image in my head. Irene whipping her head back to catch Sucy and the latter just stops moving, doesn't even flinch. And then when Irene walks again, Sucy just follows. And they just repeat this looking back and pausing, then back to walking and following.
Bianca x Aileen
My Thoughts:
Basically, Bianca is Luna Nova's student chef, and makes all sorts of magical dishes, she's even hoping to start her own restaurant in the future that makes magical dishes! Aileen loves Bianca's cooking, and can accurately name the ingredients Bianca used in her recipe in her sleep when she sleep-talks. I can see this forming a relationship, starting with Aileen helping Bianca cook, Bianca always going to Aileen when she makes something new, and Aileen wanting to make Bianca's dream a reality. Aileen could even give Bianca a cute nickname, like "Her Favorite Chef!", or something like that. Anyways, that's pretty much what I got for these two.
Khaz's Thoughts:
I can see them having little games when hanging out, like Bianca making Aileen guess which among a set of three similar dishes has a different ingredient, and what ingredient that is, making bets and such. And whenever they go somewhere fancy for dates, Aileen will always tell Bianca that she cooks better to which the latter will either blush and tell her thank you or to knock it off while being embarrassed. And to stop flattering her, while Aileen pouts and mutters "It's true tho...".
Heather x Daisy
I don't really have to say much for these two since in canon, there is a hint of them being an item already. Heather likes to sweet-talk with Daisy and flirt with her, and I can imagine that Daisy takes a liking to this. So, I can see that relationship forming pretty quickly. Plus, Daisy often calls herself the cutest witch in the world, and Heather and their roommate Rosie are the only ones who will constantly agree with her. Yet, I imagine Rosie does this mostly to be polite, while Heather does this out of a genuine love for Daisy. So yeah, pretty easy to ship these two.
Khaz didn't have extended ideas for these two, but she thought they were cute together.
Maria x Carmen
Well, Carmen "Wishing to become an ojō-sama-type person, she became cold towards Akko. Carmen is also noted to be very stubborn and doesn't change her opinions very often.". While Maria "Is a pessimistic girl who is always worried. She finds the solace in brewing potions but, everyone dislikes nearing her due to the smell from her concoctions." Well, I imagine Carmen would be often cold and cruel to even people she's fond of, unintentionally pushing them away. Her stubborn attitude also prevents her from giving up old habits easily, or changing her mood even when she knows she's in the wrong. So, Carmen often is cruel to even her friends, especially Maria. While I imagine Maria is depressed and will seek comfort in others since she has very few friends and is pretty much starved of genuine human contact and love 88% of the time due to her smell. I imagine that even talking 18 baths a day wouldn't get rid of the reached smell! Carmen never means to do this, she just isn't the type to change her mood easily. But, there might have been a part of her that did hate Maria at first. She was ashamed of her. Ashamed of herself. Not that that was right of her. And she knew this. She still had enough of a conscious to know this wasn't right, and started to feel bad. She really regrets this . She thinks Maria is cute and often thinks of asking her out. But, her bad attitude and mean spirited behavior makes her think that that is impossible. But, it hurts her to know she's hurting Maria by doing this. That, and Maria's smell tends to repulse her. Plus, maybe her incompetence with money and her failure to become wealthy makes her more enraged. Along with Akko's antics and her dream of becoming a wealthy young lady of high class society slowly becoming impossible. And because of this, Maria becomes more depressed and opens up to the few friends she has. Also hurt that Carmen, a girl she likes, treats her so cruel. It would take a lot of time and work for them to get together.
Khaz's Thoughts:
Oof just the first lines of these two got me hurting. But I think because of the stark flaws they have, there's a lot to work with. It would make for quite the dramatic slowburn, and if the payoff is done well, it would feel real great.
And this is it~! Thanks for taking a look if you did, and I apologize to Khaz heavily for taking so long to finish this up and post this!! But, finally I can got this out! I hope you all enjoyed, because intend to make more posts involving these lovely couples, and even more of them, in the future. So, yeah, have a great day and/or night and stuff.

It has been a long hiatus, though to me it didn’t seem to be one. Time flies. June and July have flied by so fast, and I can’t keep up, shit things happening one after the other, and I’m still coping… But it’s a process. I’m functioning now enough to write and interact on this blog.
As I promised, this first post is a list of June releases (from June 3rd) and the reviews I found about them until now. You’re all welcome to let me know if you have a review that I forgot to add.
Since July is also over, I’m also sharing this month’s books and reviews.
As always, updating is constantly happening, if you know about a book or have a review, just let me know! 😉
Welcome back on Swift Coffee, everyone!
For the newbies (welcome 😘): if you don’t yet know what this is all about: I’m posting a list every Monday of the books that get released during the current week. I also include other people’s reviews about them! I try to do a blog hop from time to time and spread the word about this feature, but I obviously can’t find every review that’s related, so a sign that you have one would be very much appreciated! Every review is eligible that is written about a book published on the week in question, even if it was written before said week!
So… one question remains:
Would you like to join the ride?
It’s very easy!
These are the rules:
To be featured, you don’t have to do anything else, but to leave a comment below this post, or contact me by any other way, and let me know you have a review. A link to it makes it easier, but if you only say your review comes out on x day of the week, that’s okay as well, I’ll watch out for it! Following me is not a must, but I appreciate it very much, if you do! 🙂
I continuously update this post according to your infos/comments, and I share it again every time I’ve made an update.
The book you reviewed don’t have to be from the list here, if it’s not listed, but published this week, I’ll add the book, too!
You can also send me a review for next week, because these posts are scheduled! 😉

fan fictions
attention ;; tom holland fanfic (chapter one) — harrison has been telling tom that he needs to get out and stop moping about trinity. he’s not saying he needs to hook up right away but starting with a guy’s night out isn’t too bad
the lost brother ;; the originals fanfic (chapter three)  — ben is tired of the running and tired of not having answers; he’s seen so much in just one night, mira knew this day was bound to happen.
avengers: zalla’s revenge ;; avengers fanfic (summary & character list)
descendants series ;; descendants fanfic (character list & description)
mini-series
northside meets southside ;; archie andrews series (archie andrews x ghoulie!ofc) — after southside high shuts down, archie andrews meets cordelia “cookie” seymor, an honorary ghoulie with malachai’s claim on her. cookie wants nothing to do with the ghoulies and sees archie as her way out, a step in a better direction but will malachai actually let her go without a fight?
the ceo and the free-spirit ;; (ceo!dacre montgomery x traveler!ofc) — a wild boys night out leads to a whirlwind romance and a vegas wedding with a stranger. when morning comes and reality sets in, dacre knows that the real world is waiting and he doesn’t have time to forget it all but parker marigold tries to show him there’s more to life than work
imagines
deserve better ;; archie andrews imagine (archie andrews x ofc) — archie feels like meredith deserves better than him after dragging her down with him through everything from his break up with veronica to jail. he doesn’t feel like he’s what she needs, thinking she needs someone that isn’t a screw-up
pay attention ;; reggie mantle imagine (reggie mantle x cooper!ofc) — with reggie spending so much time with veronica, joanna feels like she’s invisible to him. no matter how hard she tries to get his attention, to just hang out with him for a little bit, but her attempts are futile.
peter parker imagine (peter parker x undiscovered super!ofc) — peter parker is trying to juggle college life and his neighborhood duties but it’s a lot harder than high school. luckily, he has a new friend who’s looking out for him; harper wants nothing more than to care for peter and to have him realize her feelings for him which is hard to do if she won’t tell him. when a new threat erupts, will there ever be a good time to tell peter the truth?
klaus mikaelson imagine (klaus mikaelson x witch!ofc) — it was supposed to be a day of celebration but it seems as if the special day doesn’t yield supernatural attacks. one after the other puts abena krauss’ birthday celebrations on hold and there’s only so much a girl can take on her special day.
happy anniversary ;; steve harrington imagine (steve harrington x ofc) — miranda had everything ready, from the home-cooked meal to the very special gift. she wanted this night to be perfect as it would be the first in weeks, almost months, they got to spend time together with steve canceling dates to help out the kids. everything was ready to go...except for steve. she thought out of all nights, this night would be different and as each minute ticks by, she realizes her mistake of thinking he’d put her first.
save me ;; jason scott imagine (jason scott x ranger!ofc) — aria callen doesn’t know it yet but she’s the green ranger, more powerful than the others but more susceptible to rita’s influence. aria doesn’t understand what’s happening to her and tries to figure things out on her own but when the potential to hurt innocent people comes into play, aria may have to shake her pride and ask for help.
jason scott imagine (jason scott x cranston!reader, billy cranston x sister!reader) — riley cranston doesn’t know why her brother, billy, is hanging around jason scott and kimberly hart and she’s worried about him given jason and kimberly’s social standings. when riley tries to warn jason about any harm coming to her brother, she stumbles upon their secret in an unconventionally way.
requests are still open, just fill out the form here. can’t come up with a plot idea? try the prompt list here.

Every Baby Name We Could Possibly Think Of
Naming your baby is a big decision, and with endless options, it can also be a difficult one. Whether you're going the traditional route or want something more unique (if so, read this first!) it's helpful to have a little, or a lot, of inspiration. Ahead, you'll find nearly every baby name we could think of (close to 1,000!). These aren't just random names we found in a book or concocted ourselves - they're almost all monikers we've heard being used, or we actually know someone who goes by the name. If we missed any, tell us in the comments! Monumental Painting by Emily Kame Kngwarreye in a First at Art Basel
In a first for Art Basel which concluded on 16 June 2019, paying for a stand at the world’s most prestigious art fair, has become somewhat easier (if you are accepted into the fair by the vetting committee in the first place – 290 this year from 34 different countries). Art Basel director Marc Spiegler announced in his press conference on the opening VIP day that square metre prices for smaller galleries are less than those paid by mega-galleries like Gagosian, Zwirner, Hauser & Wirth, Acquavella, Helly Nahmand and others.
[caption id="attachment_5755" align="alignleft" width="300"] In a first for Art Basel, Salon 94 partner Alissa Friedman presenting Emily Kame Kngwarreye’s Yam Dreaming 1996, acrylic on linen, 205 x 360 cm, at their Art Basel 2019 booth.[/caption]
Up until now all participating galleries have paid 830 francs (AUD $1,200) per square meter of exhibition space. From this year the price will depend on the size of the gallery’s stand. A 25 square meter stand will cost 760 francs (AUD$1,100) per square meter while a 124 meter stand will cost 905 francs (AUD $1,300) per square meter.
These galleries of course occupy the premium locations at the fair, but now perhaps the playing field has been levelled to some degree, as galleries that are not selling multi-million dollar artworks might be able to at least break even, if not profit from sales of the artists they represent.
The cost of general admission is 58 francs (AUD$85).
As Art Basel Hong Kong is now Australia’s nearest international art fair, one does not expect to see too many Aussies on the ground in Basel. Those spotted however included regular exhibitors at Art Basel Hong Kong Joanna Sullivan and Ursula Strumpf. Martin Browne, also of his namesake gallery, was present, as was Sydney art consultant Mark Hughes, and Felicity Johnson, director of Western Australia’s Art Collective WA, which represents some of the Western Australia’s finest artists.
It was exciting to see that Mother’s Tankstation with galleries in Dublin and London represent not just one, but two Australian artists, with their paintings now for international collectors on full display: Prudence Flint’s aloof women and Noel McKenna’s quirky take on our animal companions. A show of Prudence Flint’s work has also just opened in their Dublin Gallery (8 May to 29 June). Mother’s Tankstation considers the international market for both artists as strong and growing. In Australia, Prudence Flint is represented by Bett Gallery in Hobart and Australian Galleries in Sydney, while Noel McKenna is showing with Niagara Galleries in Melbourne and Darren Knight in Sydney.
It was announced to much fanfare that Simon Lee Gallery of London and New York now represents one of Australia’s most sought after contemporary artists Cressida Campbell. Her work was presented at Art Basel Hong Kong in 2018, so we were a little disappointed not to see any of her sublime woodcuts displayed at Simon Lee’s very large stand. But perhaps that is not so surprising, given her work is in such high demand in Australia and therefore in short supply.
Campbell’s work doesn’t look necessarily like a natural fit at Simon Lee Gallery against the very different style of say George Condo or Mel Bochner. However Kimberly Brown of their London Gallery pointed out that diversity was integral to the Simon Lee model and its success. Hopefully we will see an exhibition of her work in London soon.
Meanwhile with a slim supply of her work in commercial galleries – in Australia, Campbell is represented by Sophie Gannon in Melbourne and Philip Bacon Galleries in Brisbane, the auction room is helping out desperate collectors to a (small) degree. Lack of supply is pushing prices well above recent retail prices. Sotheby’s sold two large and important interior scenes by Campbell just recently: Interior with Sunflowers and Figs, 1998, sold for more than $200,000 incl. buyer’s premium in April this year, and in the same sale, her auction record was broken again by Interior with Wheat, 1996, selling for $256,000 IBP.
A major survey show of Campbell’s work is currently on at Hamilton Gallery in Victoria until 7th July.
Aboriginal art is having a major moment in time in New York, with Gagosian Gallery’s non-selling exhibition of comedian Steve Martin’s collection, and Sotheby’s first auction of Aboriginal Art ever in the US in New York is scheduled for November this year – a very exciting development for the Aboriginal art movement.
Spotting a large iconic Emily Kame Kngwarreye painting at Art Basel was however completely unexpected. It is quite possible that this is the first time that a work by perhaps Australia’s most outstanding Aboriginal artist has been shown in the premier commercial hub of the contemporary art world. The gallery exhibiting Yam Dreaming, 1996, 205 x 360 cm, is Salon 94, a gallery with three New York locations.
This is no co-incidence: Salon 94 represent two Aboriginal artists, Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri and Yukultji Napangati whose serene Untitled, 2019, 152 x 121 cm is also on display at their Art Basel booth. The gallery has already shown both artists in New York to great acclaim:  Warlimpirrnga in September and October 2015 and Yukultji from January to March this year.
Speaking with Salon 94 partner Alissa Friedman, her enthusiasm for these artists and Aboriginal art was obvious, but she said that it was a slow process spreading the appreciation of Aboriginal as contemporary art in this environment. If the number of photographs taken of the gloriously colourful Emily at the Salon 94 booth is any indication, this might happen sooner rather than later. The asking price for this very typical Emily at Art Basel is US$350,000 (AU$500,000).
Another Australian artist represented at Art Basel is Jemima Wyman, here courtesy of Commonwealth and Council Gallery Los Angeles, and in Australia the artist is with Milani Gallery in Brisbane and Sullivan + Strumpf in Sydney.
Meanwhile, very brisk business was being done with considerable numbers of multi-million USD / Euro / Swiss franc and GBP sales reported by Art Basel management. The top spot went to Gerhard Richter’s 1966 Versammlung (Gathering), which had been off market for 50 years and was sold for USD 20 million on Tuesday by David Zwirner Gallery. Lévy Gorvy sold Christopher Wool’s Untitled, 2004, for around USD 6 million, and Mark Grotjahn’s Untitled (Indian #2 Face 45.47), 2014 for around USD 5 million, amongst other million dollar sales such as an Alberto Giacometti Bronze from 1961 priced between USD 2-2.5 million. (In case you are wondering, this is actually how prices were communicated).
Skarstedt Gallery sold Richard Prince’s The Housewife and the Grocer, 1988, for USD 3 million, and a George Condo Man and Woman, 2019 for US$1.5 million.
We noticed Alexander Calder’s ethereal mobiles on prominent display at several galleries. If you are interested: they come with a hefty price tag, as Galerie Thomas (Munich) reported the sale of an untitled work from 1966 in the range of USD2 million. This makes something like David Hockney’s bold photographic drawings going for around USD 52,000 to USD60,000 look like comparative bargains, as sold through Pace/MacGill Gallery.
The vibe at this year’s Art Basel two VIP preview days was very buzzy. Buyers and sellers looked fully engaged and ready to spend, which seems to have translated according to the number of reported sales. Of course not all galleries are inclined to reveal their sales, and a noticeable absence from this list was Gagosian Gallery which does not even label the artworks exhibited – either you know your contemporary artists or you don’t.
High fashion was of course ever present, but with enormous ground to cover with close to 300 galleries, footwear always has to be carefully considered. Prada sneakers were a popular choice for ladies, whilst Tod’s suede loafers were the preferred shoes for many male art buyers, with the occasional Balenciaga super chunky sneaker making an appearance.
Art Basel makes Sydney Contemporary look like extremely good value, and visiting Art Basel makes us appreciate fully how lucky we are to have such a high quality contemporary art fair in Sydney which represents the best of Australian contemporary art, but at prices at a fraction of their international counterpart.
Exclusive article by David Hulme and Brigitte originally published in AASD.
