Dutton's Flame

Request from @whateverthecostner A curvy reader that was John's old flame shortly after Evelyn but maybe they had a falling out and he runs into her at a rodeo or some other event and they rekindle their romance?

Entering the rodeo seating I put a cowgirl hat on my head looking for an empty seat, finding one on the fifth row I take a selfie with one of the horses behind me. "Cute, wait a second is that...John?" Whipping my head down to the fence line he's talking with one of the riders. I feel heat rush to my cheeks not even being that close to him. I haven't seen him let alone spoke to him since our fight four months ago over him lying to me about the truth of what the train station really is. I couldn't live with his lies, I don’t know anything he ever said to me was the truth.

"Y/n, give me a chance to explain." John follows me outside the front door as I spin on my heels facing him arms thrown out. "Hell no John. I don't see how you're any better than Richard was!" Richard used to be my ex boyfriend but he always was ashamed of me being curvyer than his other girlfriends in the past. John said he'd take care of him after he interrupted my date night with John. "He didn't treat you right like a boyfriend should. You said he was abusive to you after you slept with each other. You're beautiful and I didn't want him hurting you anymore!" John explained tears forming in his eyes not wanting to lose me. I'm the first person he's had feelings for since losing his late wife Evelyn, I'd managed to work my way into his heart.

Footsteps creaking on the bleachers breaks me from my trance and I suck a lump in my throat seeing its John. "Is that seat beside you taken, darlin?" I shake my head no watching him sir beside me, eyes trained on the ring with the horse riders. "I didn't expect to see you here tonight, Y/n." He spoke quickly for silence to fall around us with the rodeo noise almost not being heard by the tension between us. Fiddling with the ends of my flannel shirt I mumbled out. "I'm sorry I left things the way we did-" He takes a sip of his beer in a plastic cup cutting me off. "You don't have anything to apologize for honey. If anything I do."

"John, we don't have to talk about it here." I tried ending the conversation not expecting to bring back our last memory. He turns his head staring into my eyes, tipping his brown hat up to see me better. "Let me say something Y/n, I'm sorry. I should've asked what you wanted me to do with that dumbass...but I didn't. And I'll regret it everyday because I lost you. But know this I never stopped loving you, Y/n and I never will." I mumbled curse words in my head feeling tears slip down my cheeks at his words. John let's his own tears fall but reached forward wiping mine away instead of his own.

His right hand comes to rest against my cheek as I sniffed missing him too much to lie saying I don't love him. "J - John, I love you too..." I sniffed through tears that I wiped away with my sleeve. "Can I buy you another beer?" He nodded smiling holding out his freehand for me and we leave the bleachers, clinking our cups together he vows. "I promise no more lies anymore. I don't plan on losing you again, Y/n L/n." I take a few steps forward pressing my lips to his causing him to gasp at first then kiss me back. "I'll never leave you again, John Dutton."

Rancher in Love

Request from @whateverthecostner John is finally ready to marry again. So when it's just him and the reader alone on the ranch he proposes, will she expect it. (Curvy reader)

Sitting on the porch swing I watch the sunset off in the distance. "Come on boy, heya!" I hear John's voice hollering out. Curiously I head to the fence area seeing him riding a horse quickly in circles. The ranch is bare with Rip and the others gone herding cattle. Leaning my head on the fence a smile on my lips. When he and I first started dating the first thing I learned about him is that the closet thing to his heart is his family's ranch. His favorite thing is to ride horses.

Coming from the city I never felt comfortable like normal girls, by being bigger curvier than most. Eyes were always on me it felt like but not here. People around here simply want to help others and keep what's theirs. The landscape on this ranch is beautiful. "What ya doing darlin'?" John's voice breaks me from my thoughts. He dismounted the horse tieing it to the wooden fence.

"Just watching you on that horse. He's finally broken in it seems." I smirk thinking he looked attractive on a horse, way more attractive than usual. "Sure is you wanna ride him?" I blushed in embarrassment at never ridden a horse before. "John I - I've never rode one..." He climbs over the fence hand outstretched for me. He helped me climb over into the pen leading me over to the dark brown horse slowly.

His freehand runs over its fur for a second then he explains helping me saddle up. "Put your left foot in the holder. Swing the other leg over the saddle." Following his instructions I never break gaze with his soft eyes. "Kick him in the belly to go. Pull these to stop. But don't worry I'll be here the whole time." He climbed over the fence standing as I kicked the horse like he told me. The horse jumped forward suddenly scaring me where I almost called for John but he slowly started trotting in circles. A smile meets my lips with the wind blowing my hair. I can see why he loves these animals.

John stares at you completely and utterly in love with you. He believed that all city people didn't appreciate his way of life. Concerned with flashy highways and casino's but you didn't give a damn about any of it. You'd told him he made you realize this - his ranch lifestyle is where you belong. A childish giggle escapes your lips with a huge grin that he'd never seen so before. Reaching into his jacket pocket he held a wedding ring between his thumb and index finger, so sure of himself he blurts out once you'd stopped the horse. "Marry me."

"What did you just say?" I dismount the horse cut off by the words that he just said. We'd only been dating for 2 years. Yet he spoke of the tragic loss of his late wife Evelyn, who died from riding a horse when his children were little. A loss the whole family feels to this day. I never believed he'd ever want to marry after the loss of his first wife.

Instead John climbed over the fence walking to me taking my freehand in his. Dropping down on one knee he holds the ring up after tipping his black hat up, wearing his tan jacket with orange on the shoulders. "I said marry me Y/n. Baby I know we haven't been together long and that you feel insecure about yourself sometimes. You're beautiful Y/n in every way. You're made for me."

"But Evelyn..." I stutter out seeing tears in his eyes at the mention of her name, a smile still on his face. "I miss her everyday and I always will. But she always wanted happiness for her children and me. You came into my life when I thought I'd never know love, know happiness again." He squeezes my hand in his vowing up into my eyes. "I love you with my whole heart. And I don't see any reason why Evelyn wouldn't want me to be happy, so will you marry me?"

Tears fall down my face as I grin brightly. "Yes, yes John. I'll marry you." He slips the ring on my left hand for me to see its gold with some small jewels engraved into it. Helping him off the ground he cups my face in his hands, rubbing his thumbs over my cheeks grinning lovingly down at me. "I love you, Y/n L/n." He softly pressed his lips to mine. My hands slowly wrapped around his neck kissing back, smiling into the kiss. "I love you, John Dutton. I always will."

Loving Evening

Request from @stellarosedutton John and his wife celebrate their anniversary at the Summer Camp, enjoying the stress free week.

"Honey wake up." I feel someone shaking me awake gently. Squinting my eyes open I see my husband John Dutton smiling down at me. The sun hasn't even risen over the horizon of what he calls the Dutton Summer Camp. Rolling on my other side to face him I lazily run my hand up his arm the two of us snuggled up tight in a tent. "Morning John..." I yawn still half asleep unlike him being so used to getting up before sunrise.

He plants a kiss to my forehead getting out of the blankets to go sit outside to watch the sunrise. Tossing aside the covers I come outside wearing blue jeans and one of his old flannels, taking a seat on his lap. His arms pull me closer so I can lay my head in the crook of his neck. He breathes in the scent of my hair pulling out his phone and swiping it off. Last time we were here it wouldn't stop ringing and he wasn't gonna let that ruin this week.

This weekend is special. Our wedding anniversary will be on Friday so he suprised me by bringing me up here for the whole week. This place is like a fantasy. An escape from the real stress of the world we live in. Closing my eyes I catch some more sleep lisening to the calming sounds of nature. I'd grown up lisening to them. The people in town want to put a hotel and casino right up against our fence line. They don't care or see the beauty in leaving the land as is, truly peaceful.

Once the sun was up John untied our horses and we take a ride through the scenery. The leaves are starting to fall and change colors reminding me of our wedding day. John wore a tux and I wore a simple white dress with a flower crown made of orange and red leaves from one of the trees just off our back porch. The ceremony took place in the place he proposed which was in the middle of our land. Our wedding bands match except for mine having a simple jewel in the middle.

"Orange, you're favorite color." He spoke stopping his horse beside mine, tucking an orange leaf in my braided hair. "You remembered." I giggled with a smile. He rests his hand to my cheek. "I'll always remember everything that makes you who you are, sweetheart." A blush creeps to my cheeks to which I tilt my tan cowgirl hat down a little still giggling. "John Dutton you spoil me." He clicks his tongue signaling the horses to keep going forward. "It's a husband's job to spoil his wife."

Finally we were back at camp watching the sunset over the hills. Blankets wrapped around us with a fire going to keep us warm when it gets dark. John drapes his right arm around me resting his head against mine. "We should have done this year's ago, Y/n." He spoke softly referring to our weekend getaway. Lifting my head from his chest I turn his cheek to look down at me smiling. "Yes we should've..." He raises a brow seeing a smirk meet my lips. "Can't we just live like this forever, baby?" He parts his lips leaning down to kiss me slowly, his freehand cupping my face gently when I kiss back.

"We'll make these seven days feel like forever darlin'." He rests his forehead to mine, our breath mixing together until he crashes his lips to mine. Without hesitation I throw my arms around his neck causing our hats to tip up against each other. We stay like this for awhile until we break for air. His hands running up my arms slowly. My arms still wrapped around his neck watching a smirk form on his lips. "Let's go to the tent now." I breathe out wanting to never stop kissing him.

John quickly got to his feet picking me up bridal style causing me to release a series of giggles. He hovers above me when my back hits the sleeping bags. He discards his shirt crashing his lips down to mine. "I - love you - Y/n Dutton." He replied through kisses. Resting my hands to his cheeks for a moment we lock eyes, both eyeing one another with love. "I love you, John Dutton." I vowed leaning up on my elbows to deepen the kiss. He's the best husband in the world.
