I just had an idea about a story that I think would be great. It would be a Lee Dutton x reader with alittle kayce x reader - request from @cookiez56-blog

Shutting the front door I gazed out back into the front yard seeing my two children William and Lana who we’re playing tag in the grass off the front porch. My father in law John was sitting beside my husband Lee. Sitting across from them on a small wooden chair I noticed that John was looking at Lana for a long time. “Is something wrong, John?”

“I might be wrong. But I don’t miss anything on this ranch. So does someone want to tell me why Lana looks more like Kayce then she does you and Lee. Cause I want to know if I’m just not awake yet this morning or not.” John ran a hand over his chin in thought then he messed with his white cowboy hat on his head.

Lee and I shifted our gaze back to each other before he reached over grasping my hand in his seeing that I was starting to let some tears fall remembering that day. “He was an idiot to ever do that to you, Y/n.”

“Kayce, I have to tell you something and I’m not sure the best way to do this so….here it is I’m pregnant.” Running my hands through my hair we were about to graduate high school in a few weeks before I found out I had missed my period.

Kayce dropped his hands at his side’s changing his demeanor completely from what I thought he would. “We can’t do this anymore, Y/n.”

“What are you saying?” I dared to ask him horrified of his next response.

The youngest Dutton sent me a half sympathetic look. “Y/n, it won’t work between us anymore. I’m going into the navy and you won’t want to stay worried about me all the time. And you’re probably not going to keep the baby anyway, whoever it belong to.”

“It’s yours asshat!” I blurted out throwing my hands away from my sides feeling heartbroken at what he was saying. “I lost my virginity to you. You’re the only person I have ever slept with!”

He shook his head removing his hat running his fingers through his hair frustrated at me and himself maybe. “I…I don’t know what to say. I didn’t think that it was that easy for you to get…especially the first time. I can’t do this.” He slowly turned on his feet beginning to walk away from me and back up to the main front porch of his family’s home.

Running forward I grabbed Kayce’s wrist holding him to a stop and slapped him across the face where it hurt my hand afterwards. He held his burning cheek that was red. “You are an asshole Kayce John Dutton. I tell you that I’m pregnant and you say that you want nothing to do with me or this kid!”

“Would you believe me if I said I’m terrified as hell and you don’t have to keep the baby.” He grunted still holding his burning red cheek.

Shaking my head I spun on my feet walking away from him about to leave the ranch but I remembered that I left my jacket in the barn. Heading into the barn I grabbed it before I felt heavy tears falling down my face. Throwing my jacket I screamed just kicking the wooden wall with my boots so frustrated and heartbroken by what Kayce just said to me. Gripping my hair in my fingers I heard someone walking towards me. “I don’t want to talk to you ever again Kayce!”

“It’s not Kayce, it’s Lee.” Whipping my head around I slumped my shoulders recognizing his older brother coming towards me. He removed his tan brown hat noticing that I was sobbing through tears. “Hey what’s wrong honey?”

“I’m pregnant with your brothers child…it’s Kayce’s. But he..he just broke up with me and said he doesn’t want it. Lee I, I have no idea what to do next. I don’t think it’s right to abort the baby but otherwise I’m on my own now.” Wrapping my arms around myself I avoided his gaze sniffling through tears that hadn’t stopped coming.

Lee didn’t waste another second before he tugged me into his chest holding me tightly against him. He had one hand in my hair and the other down my back letting me cry into his shirt until I had got it all out and he had a plan inside his mind. He gently held my face in his hands wiping away the tears that had stayed on my cheek. “Y/n, this is what we’re going to do. Nobody knows that you’re pregnant. You and Kayce haven’t been showing off your relationship so we can pass the baby off as mine.”

“Oh Lee I can’t ask you to do that. I mean what if you find someone you actually care about and want to marry someone else someday.” I felt guilty that he might be giving something up to help me out.

The eldest Dutton pressed his forehead against mine not backing down from his plan. “You’re not asking I’m offering you this option. And maybe someday if we got closer we could marry and make this work better. Cause from where I’m standing you wouldn’t be the worst person to be married too.”

Lee and I hadn’t said a word since John was still staring at us waiting for an answer. We really didn’t know what to say to him, as far as he knew until now Lana was Lee’s daughter. Getting to my feet Lee followed my actions taking my hand with my wedding ring on it trying to tell me everything was going to be okay. “Dad, I just want you to know that it was my plan the whole time. Y/n came to me crying and in a panic. So I did whatever I thought would help her.”

“So what we’re saying is that you we’re right. Lana is actually Kayce’s daughter and William is Lee’s. Kayce said he wanted nothing to do with the baby and Lee offered me more than I could have imagined. I’m sorry we didn’t tell you. I…we just thought it was better that no one knew the truth.” Moving my freehand around in front of me I felt a nervous pit in my stomach waiting for his answer.

John tapped his fingers on the armrests of the chair. “If you’re thinking I’d be angry you don’t have anything to be worried about. Regardless of who the birth father is they are each still my grandkids. I love Lana and William both equally.”

“Oh thank you. John I can’t thank you enough.” Covering my mouth with my hands I smiled through happy tears before I moved forward hugging my father in law.

He hugs me back smiling towards his eldest son. “You’re welcome Y/n…you did a good job son.”

We turned our heads seeing the two you kids running up the stairs bouncing around in front of us. Lana had slight curly hair that was the color of Kayce’s hair but she had my eye color. William had my hair color but he was given Lee’s eyes. “Mommy. Daddy, can we get some ice cream?” William asked spinning around in his tiny cowboy boots.

“If grandpa John says it’s okay.” Lee responded wrapping an arm around my waist tugging me into his side smiling down at them.

John tilted his head towards the inside of the house. “Go on kiddos. Just don’t eat too much before dinner.”

“Thank you, grandpa.” Lana ran away from her brother throwing her arms around her grandfather’s neck making him smile toward me and Lee silently telling us that both the kids would be good cowboys and cowgirls when they grow up.

Lee Dutton is getting married.

He’s standing in the church in the middle of town with his hands clasped in front of him as he watches you walk down the aisle towards him. You’re clad in a white, A-line maxi dress that flows in the breeze from the open door. You’re carrying a small bouquet of wildflowers in your hands, the colours matching those in the field where you made love for the first time. It’s that attention to detail that he loves, that you’ve brought an aspect of your history to the ceremony.

“You look beautiful.” Lee says as you stands across from him, his hands holding yours in front of the priest.

“And you look very handsome in Jamie’s blazer.” You tease and Lee’s cheeks flush because that’s the very first time in his life he’s been called handsome.

It’s when he slips the ring on your finger that everything just falls into place. Lee, he’s never been happy before, not truly. He’s always put everybody else before him, catered to their needs but right here, right now he’s exactly where he’s meant to be, where he should have been twenty years ago, standing in a church, making you his wife.

It's when you step outside, your hand clutched tightly in his that you find the biggest surprise. One of the Yellowstone trucks is parked against the curb, a ‘Just Married’ banner strung across the back. There’s strings of pastel coloured pom poms tied to bumper, along with a couple of cans resting on the asphalt.

“You said you wanted people to know you were off the market.” Kayce says, shrugging his shoulders and Lee can’t help but smile because Kayce, he knew exactly what he was doing when he selected this truck.

It’s a loud, bold statement that’s about to be talked throughout Montana.

Lee holds open the truck door for you, helping you get settled inside before he closes the door and turns to face both his brothers. The two of them had pulled out all the stops over the past couple of days, Jamie rushing through the marriage license and taking care of the logistics such as the church and the rings. Kayce, running interference so that no one at the ranch would figure out what they were up to.

“A little bit of rebellion looks good on you.” He’d said when Lee had told the two of them he was getting married.

“Thank you.” He says sincerely as he strips out of Jamie’s blazer and hands it back to him. “I know I put you in a difficult position with dad and you really stepped up. I can’t say how much I appreciate that.”

“You know he’ll be waiting for you when you get back.” Jamie says, folding his blazer over his arm. “I’d be surprised if he wasn’t already at the farmhouse sitting on the porch.”

“Then it’s a good thing they’re not going back to the farmhouse for a few days.” Kayce says, gesturing to the bags in the back of the pickup. “I’ve saddled up Dolce, she’ll be ready to ride once you get to the trail. I’ll pick up the truck later return it to Yellowstone so you don’t have to worry about anyone tracking you down up there.”

“Did you…” Lee begins and Kayce cuts him off.

“Everything’s set up, Monica and Tate were just adding a few finishing touches when I left. They should be gone by the time the two of you get up there. You’ll have the next three days to yourselves before you have to come home and face the music.”

Lee has no illusions about what he’s coming back to after his impromptu honeymoon. His father is going to be terse, angry and a little sad too. If they had a normal relationship, if Lee didn’t think that he’d try to talk him out of it, they could have done this proper. Instead it had been a secret ceremony witnessed by his two brothers because he’s been terrified his father would have found some way to stop it.

“You need to get going.” Jamie says, interrupting his thoughts as his phone begins to buzz. His father’s name pops up on the screen and he silences it before putting it back into his pocket. “It looks like the news just broke that you’re not Bozeman’s most eligible bachelor anymore.”

“I’m leaving that title to you now.” Lee says, clapping his hand on Jamie’s shoulder before he climbs inside the truck.

He starts the engine and the vehicle roars to life before he pulls away from the curb, the cans clattering against asphalt as the two of you drive towards your future.

How Dutton’s Honeymoon

The Dutton family was certain about two things. One being that the next generation of the family was really important. Two is they absolutely care about their own and that they will do anything for their family. That is the fight I joined when I accepted Lee’s hand in marriage and I don’t regret it one second. Climbing on my horse I grunted shifting my tan cowgirl hat on my head watching my husband get on his own in front of me. He had said that where our honeymoon would be a surprise that he had been planning for awhile now. “Baby I ain’t worried but where are we going exactly. Because you ain’t told me where we are heading.” I shrugged my shoulders kicking my horse in the belly after he did the same having us ride away from the barn. The sun was beginning to set by the time we reached the top of the mountains on the family ranch.

“Don’t worry darling. You will like the surprise I promise.” Lee stopped his horse and he dismounted his slowly coming over to offer me help. Even though I didn’t need his help I took his offer letting him help me down throwing some hair in front of my face. Growing up my father had been a long time friend of the Dutton family so everyone always knew we would end up together. Tucking hair behind my ear I gasped with a light giggle when he stepped around me covering my eyes with his hands slowly having me walk down a hill until he removed them showing me a small cabin a little way’s from the main buildings of the land. “Lee, how did you have this out here and not have me figure it out. This is so great my cowboy.”

Spinning around in his arms I fling my arms around his neck kissing me longingly. The eldest cowboy wrapped his arms around my waist tugging me forward and putting the same passion into the kiss as I had. Lee moved one hand into my hair tugging on it where I jumped up wrapping my legs around his waist causing him to break the kiss. "I suggest we head inside before this goes further wouldn't you say Mrs. Dutton." He sent me that bright smile before I jumped down dragging him by the hand towards the door. I squealed when he picked me up bridal style carrying me over the threshold. "Lee!" We were certainly in for a fun evening.

Lee and I were standing underneath the large tree with our hands intertwined together. I was wearing a short white simmer dress and some dark brown bottles. My hair was braided down my back and I had a tan cowgirl hat on my head. "I'm sorry we're having to rush this given the fact that I'm pregnant."

"That doesn't matter to me. I just love you Y/n. And I will utterly love this baby of ours." He declares squeezing my hand in his.

John walked up with the minister where he placing his hands on ours. "The is a favor that your father asked of me. Now do you Lee Dutton take Y/n to be your wife?'

"I do." Grinning towards the cowboy wearing the darker tan hat.

The minister turned towards me asked the same question. “Y/n L/n, do you take Lee to be your husband?”

“I do,” I responded grinning like a child on Christmas.

The minster handed us each a ring where I went first slipping it on his hand. He smiled brightly sliding his mother’s wedding ring on my finger before he leans forward crashing his lips onto mine. “I love you, darling.”

My belly was pressed up against his as much as I could since I was close to my due date where I yanked myself backwards gasping sharply. “Lee - the baby’s coming- now!” Biting my tongue I winced where he quickly picked me up carrying me towards his truck.

The drive was the quickest we ever had done where went immediately got a room seeing the doctor. “Mrs. Dutton, we’re unfortunately going to have to put you in early labor.”

"Urgh! Lee..." I winced sharply a few hours when the doctor and nurses moved me into another room to deliver the baby.

He bent down at my bedside taking my hand in his where he gasped when I nearly broke his knuckles because of how tight I was. "Y/n, listen to me. You can do this. I know you can get through delivering our baby."

Clutching my eyes tightly shut I groaned pushing as hard as I could until the doctor told me to push one more time. The doctor got up carrying the baby over once it was wrapped in a blanket. "Congratulations Mr and Mrs. Dutton. You have a beautiful baby boy."

“So what exactly are you thinking of naming him?” Lee asked brushing the hair sticking to my face away sniffling through happy tears down at me.

Sniffing back some tears I croaked responding back to my cowboy husband. “Spencer. Spencer Lee Dutton.”

“That’s perfect, honey.” He kissed my forehead gently where he climbed onto the side of the bed wrapping his arms around me and the baby.

Laying my head against his chest he rested his head on top of mine. Little Spencer began sucking on his fingers inside his mouth. My eyes watched hike closely not regretting one second now that he was in our lives. “I don’t regret getting pregnant with you young, Lee. Because it gave me him and you together.” And now John and the ranch had a future child to inherit the legacy.

After the governor’s candidacy is snatched away by his father, Jamie takes some time to reevaluate things. He tells his assistant he’s working from home and that’s kind of true because you give him the key to your apartment and you tell him your home is his home for as long as he needs it.

He can’t express just how much that means to him, to have a place he feels safe, a partner who only wants the best for him.

It’s as he’s flicking through the documentation for the land trust that he comes across the proposal to buy the field where the wild bloom resides. Something inside of him just dies because until this moment he didn’t realise that he was destroying his brother’s legacy by fulfilling his father’s orders, he didn’t realise he was killing Lee.

He can’t let that happen so he starts making calls, gathering as much information on the potential sale as he possibly can and that includes contacting Anna-May. He discovers that his father gave away the land to punish Lee because his brother refused to annul his marriage. That it was a knife twist in his brother’s heart because that place, it had held so much fucking meaning to him, it felt like their father had stripped away apart of his soul.

“It was the final push.” Anna-May tells him over the phone. “That cruelty, it broke him. Any hope he’d of reconnecting with John died that day.”

He resigns his position as the Attorney General immediately. That role it was never his dream, not really, it was a way of collating power for his father, of protecting the ranch. Now that he’s done with that, it’s time to make his own way in the world, to focus on the things that are important to him and that’s preserving the one thing in this damn state that Lee loved almost as much as his wife.

He spends the next few hours calling the conservation society and every other organisation he can think of to fuck with the equities firm. He figures the bigger the problem the more likely they’ll be to withdraw the sale. Next he goes directly to the land owner and offers him an additional thirty thousand on top of the asking price.

“I did something today.” He tells you as the two of you sit down to dinner. He’s taken you out to that restaurant you love, the one that’s always plush with greenery. “Something for myself and something hopefully for us.”

His hand reaches out across the table, fingers entwining with yours and you give him that sweet smile, the one that lights up his entire world.

“I bought a home Dani.” He tells you, his vibrant blue eyes flickering up to meet yours. “And I’m hoping you’ll live there with me.”

I can't stop the tears from falling down my face as I ride on horseback up to the Dutton house. The house of the family that I joined when I married Lee Dutton. He warned me that his family might have enemies but I didn't believe or care. I love - correction loved him no matter what came our way. Looking at my husband dead body in front of me I feel more tears coming. Another horse rode up and it's his father who parted his lips not saying anything at first. He slowly climbed down offering me a hand to get down. "He's - he's gone Mr. Dutton...I'm sorry...I tried.." I sniffed through tears but he suddenly pulled me in for a hug crying himself where I wrap my arms around him for strength.

"Just tell me who to fight." Beth spoke in a stern tone seeing me still shaken up. She is the only person who besides Lee who knows the secret I'm keeping from the family. Lee and I were going to tell everyone when we got the cattle back...now I'm not sure if I have the strength to say anything. John tips his black cowboy hat down to her kissing her cheek. "Everyone...I'll be back." He slowly walked over to me helping me onto the horse with Lee again before climbing on his own. John pulled his son off the horse and I help him carry Lee over to a tree that he would be buried underneath. "John, there's something I need to tell you..." I trail off nervously rubbing my hands up and down my arms, feeling him staring at me with watery eyes.

Moving Lee's hair from his face I suck in a breath. Twisting the wedding band on my finger the wind blows through my hair softly. John sits down resting his back against the tree croaking out. "What do you need to tell me, Y/n. It can be anything, we're family after all." Moving my freehand to my stomach I give a weak smile to my father in love. Praying that he won't be mad that we didn't tell him sooner. "I'm pregnant...Lee and I are having a child...you have a grandchild." John grins like a child before taking my hand in his happily crying. "That's wonderful, Y/n...he would have been a father." I lay my head on his shoulder placing my hand over Lee's heart whispering to my husband and only love of my life. "I love you, Lee. Don't worry this baby will be loved in your memory."
