"i think we're here," johnny announced. you looked out the window and saw a beautiful exclusive resort. jaehyun looked at you and smiled at how your eyes lit up at that moment. he thought you looked so beautiful.

he had just gotten back from his friend yuta’s bachelor party. he still had the same group of friends since college, and he knew he couldn’t miss his best friend’s last party before he tied the knot.

johnny hadn’t gone out much since you had the babies. he didn’t want to leave you home alone with three kids. he knew you would be able to hold your own, but you and him had decided to let the twins develop more before going out with friends. it had been about 7 months since your twins eli and ryan were born. they were already used to their sleep and feeding schedules, so you felt comfortable with johnny going out to celebrate his friend’s marriage.

johnny entered the living room and let out a startled sound when he saw you sitting on the couch wide awake and scrolling on your phone.

As we have established already, Johnny is very romantic with Zachary in his own Johnny-like way: compliments for instance (pulling him in with a sense of awe and boyish giddiness, letting his eyes roam over him before he crashes his lips against his, " Who allowed you to be this fuckin' pretty? ") which can also lead to sappy speeches (he doesn't care if Zach teases him for it, he'll laugh against his neck and lovingly tell him to shut up) or assuring him that he loves him because I feel like Zach needs to be reminded of that sometimes. He also likes taking him out! Whether it be for dinner, a drive-in theater or just for a drive around town, he wants him to relax and not be bound to that terrible house! Also also: movie nights! Which usally end in Johnny napping on Zach's lap!

I don't know if Zach can/needs to sleep but I still think that Johnny's presence in his bed calms him at night! Just imagine having this warm body draped over him (he can also be very clingy when he's asleep, always having an arm around him somewhere or his face nuzzled in between his shoulder blades); even if it does not make the bad memories or thoughts go away, it is still a grounding, reassuring feeling to have him with him!

And to do an entire 180 from the cute stuff: Johnny has and will always hate seeing him drink. It is something he will never be able to wrap his head around and it either causes their fights or will be an end result of one. Same with his other coping mechanisms. He tries his hardest to support him during these times but Johnny is also not the best at de-escalation, so he will be frustrated faster.

We already know that Zach's family doesn't like Johnny much but him meeting Johnny's family? Chaos. I feel like even if he has told him about his family and what they are, Zach would still try to be on his best behavior (is he wearing his crispest shirt? Joanna is polite and friendly and Johnny does not worry at all that they would more or less get along (maybe they could even find a common interest that they could talk about! I don't think Zach is much deterred by her occasionally being a little strange) but Aba on the other hand---: " You know, I had the pleasure of meeting your grandfather! ", " Are you plagued by desperation and absolute grief every once in a while? Lost souls tend to be like this. ", " Do a church wedding and I'll make sure to burn down every single one in your vicinity. " Needless to say Johnny cringes further and further into his chair but a gentle squeeze on his thigh and the ring on Zach's finger gives him all the strength to get through this!

We don't know for sure what was the original plan. JohnDo allocated to the Chinese unit seems pretty sound because back then LSM wanted to debut many units and as soon as possible. And JohnDo hosted the SM show aimed at Chinese.

There were no vlives back then and very few interviews to observe how Jaehyun was back then. Doyoung and Ten went to festivals/SMTowns together with 127 and Limitless preparations started in October already (127 debuted in June), they shot NCT Life together, so JaeDo weren't even apart for long. Maybe the good news happened before Jaehyun fully understood that their paths will diverge once Doyoung debuts in a Chinese unit (like it happened with Ten).

Jaehyun was super clingy and excited during Limitless (the programmes and MV shooting, lives from 2016, not the comeback), he evidently was happy about the turn of events.

One of the theories is that JohnDo were supposed to be added late to make it 7+2+1 (127). It fits the lore (Taeyong finding new people thorough dreams). WinWin was always meant to exchange with Jungwoo (or smth else), for example. However, Doyoung once said that he and Johnny have a special bond of going through hardships together. Back in the day it seemed like it was about the uncertainty of their unit debut. On the other hand, maybe it was about the Rookies days afterall. Both were promoted heavily during the second half of 2016, which makes me think there was no way they thought they wouldn't be picked (and Do debuted with U prior to 127 anyway).
