Update on #WorldDraculaDay 26 May 2024-

“Harker and the Shadow of Dracula” debuts on Audible worldwide, and other great audio platforms, Christmas 2024! I’m thrilled to work again with Ellie Torrez , who co-starred with me in “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” over twenty years-ago! Ellie voices Mina Harker, in this direct sequel to Bram Stoker’s novel DRACULA.

I’ve written the script, and will direct. It’s the first of three stand alone “Harker” audio adventures that we’ve planned, all part of the Vampire Hunters Incorporated world created by me and long-time writing partner Stuart Voytilla.

Casting continues for the voice actors in our Audio Drama. Jennifer Rouse is composing an original music score.

These Harker stories have been long in the works, developing and writing them, and we’re very excited to bring them to life this year and share the first with you. If you like your vampires dark and evil, your adventure swift and thrilling, and your sense of romance is somewhere in the neighborhood of Nick and Nora Charles, and Steed and Mrs. Peel, I hope you like what we’re coming up with, in “Harker and the Shadow of Dracula”.

OMNIPRESENTE E INMORTAL

Puede que pienses que sepas mucho de esta historia, aunque no la hayas leído, porque la #IndustriaCultural la convirtió en un #Mito de la #CulturaDeMasas, pero creeme cuando te digo que sólo cuando te sumergís en la atmósfera que teje Stoker con su pluma podés comprender lo que un talentoso escritor logra, si vamos a hablar de #Literatura de #Terror.

DRÁCULA es una novela a la que accedés por los #DiariosÍntimos de sus personajes, de los que #JonathanHarker, #AbrahanVanHelsing, #MinaHarker y #LucyWestenra son los principales.

Como en la película #Tiburón, hay que esperar para que el temido #Vampiro haga aparición, y para cuando lo hace, ya estás aterrado y en estado de alta tensión.

#BramStoker va penetrando con el vampiro en tu mente, y aunque ya sepas lo que va a suceder, tenés un miedo irracional mientras pasás página tras página de la historia de DRÁCULA.

No lo suelo hacer, pero a veces no está de más recomendar la #Lectura de un #Clásico. Y DRÁCULA puede ser un buen plan como #LecturaDeVerano. Te va a dejar helado.

Eso sí, recordá que el Vampiro vive en cada lector que aborde este libro. Tené cuidado cuando empiece a caer el #Sol. El #Crepúsculo marca el inicio del #Peligro.

Los vampiros existen, ya lo sabemos. ¡Mantenerse atento es un buen consejo!

favorite thing about them: everything! she’s a well-mannered schoolteacher with a grudge and a winchester rifle. what’s not to love?

least favorite thing about them: she’s flawless, but it should be taken into consideration how the time period in which dracula was written has shaped her character. there’s a madonna-whore dichotomy going on between her and basically all the other female characters, and she gets sidelined a little toward the end. bram stoker wyd

favorite line: “i love you with all the moods and tenses of the verb.”

brOTP: i love the idea of her and dr. seward like,,,geeking out. i can totally picture them flipping out together over the discovery of the electron and whatnot. also, van helsing like reveres her, which is pretty sweet.

OTP: anyone who’s been on this blog knows how much i ship jonathan and mina. they protect each other! it’s cute.

nOTP: mina x the count. it’s 2019 can we stop shipping people with folks who hurt them? it ain’t cute and it’s not healthy.

random headcanon: she could run a crime empire. she would never but i mean...the knowledge of train schedules? the intelligence? the general badassery? she could do it if she wanted.

unpopular opinion: i mean, this is such a small fandom. there isn’t really discourse....i don’t know that i have any especially unpopular opinions.

song i associate with them: it’s kind of cliché, but king of anything by sara bareilles always makes me think of mina, especially when the rest of the drac attack pack is totally ignoring her.

In the book Mina and Jonathan Harker have a son called Quincy. Say 'Quincy Harker' often enough and it will go from british gentleman to englisch-amerindian chieftain 'Quin Seehawka' in seconds .
