i just went into the rihanna tag to see if anyone was talking about that shit she did (considering it's all over twitter) and yours was the only post i saw. i read so many tweets and... why did they have to do sexy dancing to a garbled version of the hadith? it's clearly not just 'arabic music' either, idk why people are defending this blatant disrespect. i'm also surprised how many muslim fans rihanna has tbh
as an arabic speaker i can still hear complete phrases in the song making the whole thing *so* uncomfortable to listen to. on top of that having people dance with that in the background.... i couldn't even watch it.
it seems the original artist is well aware of what they've done but as far as i know they haven't said anything yet (but they have limited their comments!). honestly i blame the artist more than i do rihanna, but they're both at fault here. what a mess, taking religious text, stripping it from its original meaning and then putting your "sick beat" over it. there is a way to take inspiration from other cultures and religions but this just ain't it sis. 🤮🤮

I hope not, because that's two lovers that Polly has lost because of Tommy! Yes you're so right, like when Tommy gets his jaw cracked (or whatever) by Father Hughes and he goes straight to Ada!! I don't think I could see Ada siding with Michael or abandoning Tommy in general...
Sorry for not answering for days! But yes, Ada's in it for life, and I think she knows that. She tried to leave when Freddie died, but got dragged right in again, so she's stuck. All she can do now is survive and help others do the same 🙃✌🏻 (and abondoning Tommy is not the solution, in her eyes, atm)
Btw, I love her and Tommy's bond, it's nearly wholesome, somehow. You don't get that a lot on this show.

as it was explained to me, (not seen supernatural but) castiel said he loved dean who looked at him like :| before castiel was thrown into super hell??? and then at the same time, there were rumours of putin resigning cos he's ill, and someone referenced both in a tweet so people found out about putin via a supernatural post about destiel and now people are talking about johnlock and potential sherlock s5 and all sorts lmao
“Dean looked at him like :|” “people found out about putin via a supernatural post” I hope to god this makes it into history books

☕ the ponds and the doctor!
I love them!! They’re a family!!!!! And that’s truly my favorite dynamic. I really think they’re platonic soulmates and the kind of relationship the three of them have just like, warms my heart. To see the three of them each with their own struggles (Amy with her mental illness and abandonment issues, Rory with his low self esteem and insecurity, and the Doctor with well, their everything) come together and by virtue of being together they all heal and grow. It’s this beautiful give and take that I truly think like, is the best of what a family can be.
I like how all three of them got the opportunity to grow alongside each other because they were all so young when they met each other (even the Doctor, despite being 900 years old, was freshly Eleven when he met the Ponds and I feel like each Doctor incarnation grows into themselves over the course of their run).
Rewatching S5-7 this year it really hit me that during “The Eleventh Hour” Amy and Rory are nineteen. They both initially travel with the Doctor when they’re 21. And also get married, which is bonkers young, but they’re soulmates. Being an adult now and watching that it’s really striking to me and it also makes a lot of series 5 make more emotional sense knowing they’re really just kids from this tiny village and that’s all they’ve really ever known.
Anyway I think it’s a really cool, unique dynamic for them to grow up alongside the Doctor for 10 years and have this fading out set up over Series 7A. I’ve mentioned before how I go back and forth on how I feel about tAtM and I don’t know how the show could’ve done a sort of slow fade on Amy and Rory (especially knowing Karen wanted there to be a hard out for Amy Pond and have her story be definitively over), but I think about it a lot because it’s a different way to get at the same conclusion of her character arc; that she’s grown past the part of her life that is traveling with the Doctor. I think it could’ve been a very powerful thing for her to be like “I love you, and you’ll always be my best friend, but this isn’t my life anymore.”
Send me a ☕️ and a topic and I’ll talk about how I feel about it

A gentleman with thistledown hair
Hey everyone,
So for those of you who have been waiting very patiently for this one, thank you. This is the blog where I discuss how the author Susanna Clarke depicts faeries in her book “Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.” There may be mild spoilers, so by all means, DO NOT READ THIS BLOG IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS!! It’s a good story, and if you’re starting with the book first, it’s worth the read.
For everyone else, read on.
If anyone here is unfamiliar with the story, the book is about two magicians in 19th century England. The plot is a bit complex to explain on here, so for now I’ll just focus on a few primary characters. One of them is Mr. Norrell, a reclusive, anxious man who self-educated himself on magic through books, but he is also known for hoarding the information all to himself to remain to only “practical magician” in England. The second magician is Jonathan Strange, who is the opposite of Mr. Norrell in many ways. He’s more social, charismatic, and open to sharing his magical education with other people. However, besides both of them being magicians, these men unknowingly have another factor in common: they have the same antagonist, which is a faerie who the author calls “the gentleman with the thistledown hair.”
That’s as close as a name that the readers get, by the way.
In my opinion, this antagonist could be defined as an evil faerie. He is charismatic and energetic but also very manipulative towards the humans he comes into contact with. He thinks so highly of himself that he managed to take over the entire kingdom of Faerie and as a result, put it into ruin and chaos. His form of enchantment involves dragging his victims into endless faerie parties where they are forced to dance all night, every night.
That being said, the idea of faeries partying all night is not a new concept. There are multiple Irish folktales that involve long-lasting faerie revels. However, I think what sets this antagonist apart from other faerie characters is his particular fascination with violence towards humans, as well as his disdain for other faeries. He is very exclusive in his quest for control, in the sense that he wants to be the most famous and powerful of his kind. He has no friends, only captives or “admirers”.
Additionally, the desolation and decay of the realm Lost-hope reflects his severe lack of balance. Faeries do enjoy play, but in my opinion, they also know there are times when work needs to be done. This antagonist has no sense of duty to be a better “king” by respecting that balance, and instead uses his power just to get his way all the time.
If any of you haven’t read the book yet, the antagonist I describe here may be slightly different than the one portrayed in the Netflix series of the same name. While the actor who plays the gentleman still gives off a sense of madness and superiority, he also shows much more physical restraint, and he is far less emotionally expressive than the character from the novel. I personally prefer the book more so than the series, for more than one reason, but that includes the book antagonist’s ecstatic personality.
For those of you who have only read the book and seen the series, how do you feel about how the creators portrayed this faerie? How do you feel about how Susanna Clarke uses faerie folklore in her book? Do you feel it hits some truths or does it fall short?

Just keep drawing, just keep drawing ... Just keep reading too. Re-reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell in fact. I have come to Chapter 12, where Mr Norrell enchants the mermaid figurehead of a French ship in hopes of gleaning enemy secrets. She does not cooperate.

"i'm not from the US" ask -- 9, 16, 17
9. which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best? it’s a timely ask, i want to get out of here so bad... i’d visit croatia the most as i’ve been there before and really liked the mediterranean vibes
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with? ugh... there’s a lot of stereotypes about us and i agree with most of them because most of them are true to me like we’re pessimistic, we like to eat and we put onion and paprika in everything, our language is beautiful but uhm... hungarian girls aren’t the most beautiful in the world, i always cringe when i hear this stereotype especially when they add “and easy to get them.” just shut the fuck up, mate.
