I just finished the brights sessions and in one of the episode D. Bright said that the atypical represented 4% of the world's population, and that let me wondering, considering that almost every atypical that we encounter in the serie is queer, what percent of the queer community is atypical ?

Oooh GREAT question! Lemme do some quick math here...

Okay, according to my universe bible (which is pretty accurate, if not fully comprehensive, I'm sure there's stuff I forgot to write down), there are 29 known and named atypicals across the 7 seasons of the podcasts, excluding the Bright Sides (Season 5, the bonus episodes) and the three books (though there is some overlap) but including Frank Sawyer and Sadie Greenwood, who are, like...atypical-adjacent.

Of those 30 atypicals (presuming I counted correctly (does this post have enough parentheticals yet?)), 14 are definitely canonically queer in one way or another. So, by that logic, nearly half of the atypical population is queer! I have a feeling that number would go up if I were to go through and pull out all the folks from the books and the bonus episodes (which perhaps I will do someday but I don't know the orientation of all the bonus ep characters (bc they were created by other people) and pulling out characters from the books is always a mess because, uh, I do not outline lol) but I also don't know that I can say our little atypical population is fully representative of the global population's queerness? Like flocks to like, so perhaps this a somewhat self-selecting bunch, or maybe there really is just a very high correlation between being atypical and being queer. Dealer's (fanfic writer and headcanon-er's) choice!

31 May 2022: Deputising for His Majesty, Crown Prince Hussein inaugurated The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Amman, a project with an investment value of JD300 million.

He toured the 20-storey hotel, which includes 228 guest rooms, built according to the highest international standards. The hotel provides 500 job opportunities, 90 per cent of which are for Jordanians.

He listened to a briefing on the hotel, which includes 34 major suites, seven restaurants and cafes, a 1,050 square metre Grand Ballroom, four meeting rooms, and three boardrooms. (Source: Petra)

The hotel also includes a full-service spa and wellness centre, in addition to a number of indoor and outdoor temperature-controlled pools, as well as six treatment rooms.

Samer Fakhouri, the executive chairman of Eqbal Estate Development and Hotels, which is in charge of developing and operating the hotel, said the inauguration of the Ritz-Carlton is in implementation of the Royal vision to position Jordan as a major tourist destination and provide strategic real estate investments that will have wide-reaching, positive impacts on the national economy.

For his part, Tareq Derbas, general manager of the Ritz-Carlton, Amman, said the hotel’s design is inspired by Jordan’s unique culture, history, and natural landscapes, with Roman and Nabatean architectural features given modern reinterpretations throughout the hotel.

Tourism Minister Nayef Al Fayez said the opening of the Ritz-Carlton in Amman will have a positive impact on the tourism sector in Jordan, in terms of services provided to tourists, as well as enhancing the investment environment and providing job opportunities.

Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh, Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Mustafa Khalifeh, and Sandeep Walia, CEO, Middle East of Marriott International, of which the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is a subsidiary, attended the inauguration.

Louis Johnson (April 13, 1955 – May 21, 2015) was a bass guitarist. He was known for his work with the group the Brothers Johnson and his session playing on several hit albums of the 1970s and 1980s, including the best-selling album of all time, Thriller.

THE RITZ-CARLTON, AMMAN COMMEMORATES ITS FIRST YEAR IN JORDAN

INGREDIENTS

Yield:

12 muffins

½cup softened butter

1¼cups sugar

2eggs

1teaspoon vanilla extract

2cups flour

½teaspoon salt

2teaspoons baking powder

½cup milk

2cups blueberries, washed, drained and picked over

3teaspoons sugar

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375.

Step 2

Cream the butter and 1¼ cups sugar until light.

Step 3

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla.

Step 4

Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder, and add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.

Step 5

Crush ½ cup blueberries with a fork, and mix into the batter. Fold in the remaining whole berries.

Step 6

Line a 12 cup standard muffin tin with cupcake liners, and fill with batter. Sprinkle the 3 teaspoons sugar over the tops of the muffins, and bake at 375 degrees for about 30-35 minutes.

Step 7

Remove muffins from tin and cool at least 30 minutes. Store, uncovered, or the muffins will be too moist the second day, if they last that long. I cooked for 28 min and was perfect
