God is in the waiting...
”They who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31
"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation,be constant in prayer." Romans 12:12
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:14
"The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."  2 Peter 3:9
"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." Exodus 14:14
"Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!" Isaiah 30:18
"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." 2 Peter 3:8
Friend, if God is making you wait, He has His reasons, and all of them are good and for your long-term benefit!
God’s timing is not our timing. Friend, there is never a moment when God loses sight of your bigger picture. There is never a moment when God loses sight of the tiny details that lead to your bigger picture and He is AWESOME at moving those little details around until they create something breathtaking. And if the enemy is whispering that God has forgotten about you or you’re to small for Him to notice OR you have failed God in some way and don’t qualify for God’s notice, please ignore those LIES! There is not one teency little thing in your life that doesn’t matter to your loving Heavenly Father! Friend, He loves YOU!
God is preparing you for SOMETHING GREAT, just hold on, keep the faith and TRUST HIS TIMING! Amen!
“Patience is not the ability to wait but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.” ― Joyce Meyer, Battlefield of the Mind: Winning the Battle in Your Mind

This afternoon I encountered these wise words from my sister in Christ, Joyce Meyer (one of my favorite authors/teachers):
"Being upset about your problems never changes them. A bad attitude is like a flat tire. If you don't change it, you won't go anywhere. Because God is always with us, we can go through trials in our lives with stable, positive attitudes, trusting Him completely, even against seemingly impossible odds."
1 Peter 1:6-7: "In this (your salvation) you rejoice greatly, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith, which is much more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested and purified by fire, may be found to result in (your) praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
Hang on to faith and hope, whatever you're facing. God can get you through it!

Shine!
“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!” Matthew 5:14-15 (MSG)
This dark world is ruled by an enemy who wants us to stay in darkness, but Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will NEVER walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
When you have Jesus in your life, you start to shine with His glory. Jesus wants you to bring His light and glory to those still living in darkness, to reflect the light that He has given you: “A light that thrives in the depths of darkness, blazes through murky bottoms. It cannot and will not be quenched.” John 1:5 (VOICE)
Maybe you don’t feel worthy to shine? (That’s what the devil wants you to think.)  It’s totally okay to just be yourself! “You are not a surprise to God  - He knew what He was getting when He made you”…”Cracked pots let out more light!” as Joyce Meyer says. God supplies the power and He loves you just as you are!
“But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.”  2 Cor 4:7
Friend, the light that shines from inside you comes from a power greater than all the darkness in the world. All God asks is that you shine!
PRAYER: Lord, help us to brighten the lives of others by shining Your light and sharing Your God-colors into this dark world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
“Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:16 (TLB)

“I believe that a trusting attitude and a patient attitude go hand in hand. You see, when you let go and learn to trust God, it releases joy in your life and when you trust God, you’re able to be more patient. Patience is not just about waiting for something… It’s about how you wait or your attitude while waiting.”

1 Thessalonians 5:15 - Do what is good for each other
“Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.” (NIV) “See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all.” (NRSV)
Even though the apostle Paul wrote this letter many years ago to the church at Thessalonica, it still holds true today, because people essentially haven’t changed that much! We live in a harsh, sinful world, which is why we need Jesus! There will be situations when people hurt you, use you, maybe abuse you. Sometimes they may attack your personality and character; or at work they undermine the hard work you do. They may even publicly make you look foolish. Most of those times the enemy is behind their words and actions, because ever since the Garden of Eden, the devil has been trying to destroy Man’s peace and joy - by ANY means he can. It can be so tempting in those situations to try to seek revenge or to repay people wrong for wrong, but that is just not God’s way. We serve a God who IS LOVE and works through GRACE and MERCY.
Friend, the enemy will thoroughly encourage you to "get people back” because if you do, he can then mercilessly throw guilt on you ever afterwards to try to shame you and destroy your God-given peace. Do not let him win!
What better way to show the love of Jesus and refuse to let the enemy get the upper hand than to, as The Passion Translation puts it, “Resist revenge, and make sure that no one pays back evil in place of evil but always pursue doing what is beautiful to one another and to all the unbelievers.” (TPT) As Joyce Meyer says, “if you want to make the devil mad, just trust God to fight your battles for you and go about doing good.” It won’t be easy, but Jesus will help!
Friend, let God deal with people who hurt you in His own way. The enemy is just using them to distract you from your mission. Pray for them instead and then concentrate on being the wonderful person you are; keeping your peace, and focusing on YOUR walk with Your Heavenly Father.
PRAYER Father, when people hurt me, please help me to resist any temptation to “get them back”. Instead, help me to respond with love and prayer for them. Let my words be kind and my actions helpful. Help me not to respond selfishly, but to reflect the grace, love and mercy You have shown me. Help me to play my part in, “See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.” (NET) In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God-Pleaser or People-Pleaser?
“Our message to you is true, our motives are pure, our conduct is absolutely above board. We speak under the solemn sense of being trusted by God with the Gospel. We do not aim to please men, but to please God who knows us through and through.” 1 Thess 2:3-4 (PHILLIPS)
“We aren’t trying to please everybody, but God, the only One who can truly examine our motives.” 1 Thess 2:4 (VOICE)
This is something that God keeps bringing back to me, that you can't please people and God all the time. It is a choice you will have to make many times in your life: God or people. If you please the people you associate with every day life is much more pleasant. If you follow God you will probably (at least some of the time) face ridicule and disapproval in your workplace, home, amongst your friends. Every day you may face negativity for what you believe. It is a tough choice, but you have to choose which is more important: an earthly life agreeing with people around you, or a heavenly life with God. Jesus understands, He faced ridicule and it ended in His crucifixion. Paul understood, he spent a lot of his life in prison. Neither was willing to back down and deny their true selves for the sake of popularity amongst people. Joyce Meyer says,
"I want to encourage you to pray and ask God to show you what your motives are in everything you do. If you’re making decisions based on pleasing others to satisfy your need for approval, then it’s time to make some changes. Be determined to follow God’s plan for your life and enjoy the freedom to be what He has created you to be!"

Luke 10:19
“Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.” (AMPC)
In Luke 10 Jesus sent out followers ahead of Him to everywhere He was going to go and in verse 19 Jesus gave them authority, power, physical and mental strength and ability to “trample upon serpents and scorpions” and over “all the power the enemy possesses.” I doubt Jesus meant actual serpents and scorpions? He may have meant the scribes and Pharisees, who he called “serpents and a brood of vipers” Matthew 23:33 or He may have meant the enemy. We too have authority and power, because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. What a game-changing gift! Adam and Eve (Man) lost authority in the Garden of Eden - they basically gave it away to the Devil - but Jesus stripped that authority from the Devil and gave it back to Man. The Devil doesn’t want anyone to believe that they now have authority and power and he tells a lot of lies to convince us he still has authority. That isn’t true - believers have authority, but we have to exercise it. A lot of the things we blame on others, or even on God (like bad things happening to good people) are the Devil manipulating our thoughts and circumstances. We need to pray and speak out against the enemy (listen to Joyce Meyer, she talks a lot about the Devil!) We need to ask God to help us to recognize enemy attacks from a mile away and help us to resist the devil immediately, before any of his lies have a chance to take root in our minds.
Joyce Meyer said on one of her TV programs that she'd had a thought that she recognized was not from God: “If God tells you to do something, He's not gonna also, tell you it's not gonna turn out well. And so, I immediately, said, I mean, I said out loud, "Devil, you're a liar. This is gonna turn out good. I resist you and take authority over you in Jesus' name, get out of my thoughts". And so, I think confessing our faith, speaking out against the enemy is a good thing. Now, I know some people think, "Talk back to the devil. I'm not gonna do that". Well, you know what? Jesus did. In Luke chapter 4, Satan tried to lie to Him, and often, in taking scripture out of context. But Jesus knew the word. And it literally, says in Luke 4, "The devil said to Jesus", and, "Jesus said to the devil, 'it is written'", and He quoted him a scripture. The Word of God is our defense against the lies of Satan.”
PRAYER: Help us to fully believe that we have power and authority over the Devil. Help us to recognize lies and attacks and help us to stay strong, put on our Spiritual Armor (Ephesians 6) and resist any fiery darts the enemy shoots at us. Let’s trample serpents and scorpions in Your name, Lord Jesus, Amen!

Psalm 37:3
"Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed." (AMPC)
"Believe in the Eternal, and do what is good— live in the land He provides; roam, and rest in God’s faithfulness." (VOICE)
Jesus didn’t pray for us to be out of the world, but that we would be safe in it. (Jn 17:15) He said there will be trials and sorrows but to stay courageous, confident, cheerful and at peace through Him. (Jn 16:33) We are all now going through a sad, terrible and terrifying trial. Jesus’s commandment of “Loving our neighbor” (Mt 22:39/Mk 12:31) may now include prayerfully “social distancing” to help stop infection spreading. So what’s the answer when you're uncertain about what to do and what the future holds? How do you cope with it all? Our key to answers is the Bible. This living, spirit-filled book isn’t described by many as “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth” for nothing - it has the answers to every problem.
Joyce Meyer has said "Trust God and do good" many times, for when you don't know what to do next, because this phrase has tremendous power. From Adam and Eve onward, God didn't create Man to worry; He created Man to care for others. The Psalmist isn’t just talking about food in Ps 37:3, because helping others also feeds the soul. When we reach out to others in kindness, it sows good seeds into their lives and ours. Good feelings grow from good deeds and can open the door for Jesus to change someone's life for the better. It also opens a door for God to bless US in greater ways. When you freely give something, God gives you back much more than you gave. This is God-maths and all it takes is faith in Him. Friend, trust God and do good and see what God unfolds in your life when you do!
PRAYER: Lord, help us to rest in Your faithfulness and trust in Your provision (because everything we have comes from You anyway!) Help us to be kind and good to others, instead instead of worrying. In this time of "social distancing", give us opportunities to develop deeper relationships with You and with our fellow humans. Lord, the people in this world need You more than ever; use us to bring glory to You in everything we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
