God's Glory is always worth it, Amen!!

And it's such a loving blessing.. that through our circumstances, through trials and refinement, He helps us to have faith.

"In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ." ~ 1 Peter 1:6-7

This Scripture is perfect and God is helping me understand it deeper as I think about this. The testing of our faith strengthens and purifies it- so that our faith may not at all be in ourselves but purely and gloriously in God who Saves.

Our faith is so much more precious than gold to the Lord.. because it is by His Grace through faith that we're Saved and He loves us. He loves us so so much that even through its testing He helps us hold onto Him in faith. Because by grace through faith we're Saved and it's not comfort and simplicity that keeps us safe.. it's faith. And in faith God lovingly wants us to lean on Him. He wants us to feel our weakness and lean on His Strength because He desires to strengthen us beyond our power. He lets us experience circumstances that only He can save us from because He loves us and He knows that only He can ultimately Save us.

The kinds of trials described here made me think of the trial Paul spoke of experiencing in 2 Corinthians 1:

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.

Maybe our Good Shepherd leads us through the valley of the shadow of death so that in that dark valley His Light will extinguish the darkness along with any shadow of doubt before our eyes. Because only God raises the dead!! and in order to fully live we need to depend on Him, and set our gaze and hope on His Light. Because earthly comfort as well as discomfort is temporary- while the Peace and Power we find in God alone through faith is eternal.

What if, in our situation, God is waiting so that we know beyond a shadow of doubt that it was Him that did it?

Is there anything you feel you could never give up? Seriously consider whether it holds you captive (Romans 6:19-23). Release that relationship, possession, or situation to the Lord right now so He can give you the freedom you’ve been craving.”
