Tumblr media
"I think you owe me a dance," Jude announced to his ex as he approached, holding out their favorite drink as a truce. "I mean they're all looking at us, you know. They're waiting for it I think." the New Yorker couldn't help but to tease as an easy smile spread across his lips. It'd been years since he'd seen them properly, and though he'd argue he had pretty much moved on, they were the only one in the room he had paid attention to all night. "Unless you're afraid I'm going to upstage you out there, it's completely possible." he couldn't help but to chuckle as he sipped at his champagne.

"Challengers" and other mini reviews
Challengers was definitely the other best movie I watched this month (the other being Deadpool and Wolverine). As for the rest:
What's Up, Doc?: Screwball comedy where a musicologist (Ryan O'Neal) is pursued by a manic pixie dream girl (Barbra Streisand). Probably one of Streisand's best roles, and I did love the mocking of Love Story at the end.
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania: The fact that Adam Sandler of all people was too busy to do this sequel should tell you everything you need to know, because the guy isn't exactly none for his standards. Look, the first two movies were cute, but it seems like no animated franchise is immune from sequel rot. Except for Toy Story, and even that is up in the air.
Old: Well, props to M. Night Shylamalan for taking the Benjamin Button concept and showing it for the horrifying trauma that it really is. However, there is still a "big twist," and as always, it made my eyes roll.
The Strangers Chapter 1: If you want a rehash of the first movie with dumber victims, go right ahead.
The Black Phone: This movie, on the other hand, was actually good. Horror kids are almost always smarter than the adults, and this one was no exception. The payoff at the end was very satisfying.
Challengers: It was messy and wild and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
Back to Black: It really is as bad as people are saying. It focuses more on Amy Winehouse's addiction than her music, and even that wasn't portrayed accurately.
Tyler Perry's Divorce in the Black: I've watched Lifetime movies with more depth than this.
Firebrand: While I applaud Jude Law for bringing the gross and crazy as Henry VIII, this was a hot mess in the worst way. The historical inaccurate I could overlook. But they barely even tried to adapt Elizabeth Fremantle's novel about Katheryn Parr: literally nothing from the book is in the movie. It was just as big of a hatchet job as The Other Boleyn Girl.

Adult 2020 Fantasy Releases: even more reads
The Girl and the Stars by Mark Lawrence
In the ice, east of the Black Rock, there is a hole into which broken children are thrown. On Abeth the vastness of the ice holds no room for individuals. Survival together is barely possible. No one survives alone. To resist the cold, to endure the months of night when even the air itself begins to freeze, requires a special breed. Variation is dangerous, difference is fatal. And Yaz is not the same. Yaz is torn from the only life she’s ever known, away from her family, from the boy she thought she would spend her days with, and has to carve out a new path for herself in a world whose existence she never suspected. A world full of difference and mystery and danger. Yaz learns that Abeth is older and stranger than she had ever imagined. She learns that her weaknesses are another kind of strength. And she learns to challenge the cruel arithmetic of survival that has always governed her people. Only when it’s darkest you can see the stars.
Cries from the Lost Island by Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Set against the glory and tragedy of ancient Roman Egypt, this novel brings to bring to life the greatest love story of all time.
Sixteen-year-old Hal Stevens is a budding historical scholar from a small town in Colorado. A virtual outcast at high school, he has only two friends: Roberto the Biker Witch and Cleo Mallawi. Cleo claims to be the reincarnation of Queen Cleopatra. She also believes she's being stalked by an ancient Egyptian demon, Ammut, the Devourer of the Dead.
But when Hal and Roberto find Cleo murdered in the forest near her home, it appears she may have been telling the truth. Her last request sends them journeying to Egypt with famed archaeologist Dr. James Moriarity, where it quickly becomes clear that Cleo has set them on the search of a lifetime: the search for the lost graves of Marc Antony and Cleopatra.
But they are not alone in their search. Cleo's murderers are watching their every move. And not all of them are human...
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
Bound by blood. Tempted by desire. Unleashed by destiny.
Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life—working hard all day and partying all night—until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.
Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.
As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.
88 Names by Matt Ruff
John Chu is a “sherpa", a paid guide to online role-playing games like the popular Call to Wizardry. For a fee, he and his crew will provide you with a top-flight character equipped with the best weapons and armor, and take you dragon-slaying in the Realms of Asgarth, hunting rogue starships in the Alpha Sector, or battling hordes of undead in the zombie apocalypse. Chu’s new client, the pseudonymous Mr. Jones, claims to be a “wealthy, famous person” with powerful enemies, and he’s offering a ridiculous amount of money for a comprehensive tour of the world of virtual-reality gaming. For Chu, this is a dream assignment, but as the tour gets underway, he begins to suspect that Mr. Jones is really North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, whose interest in VR gaming has more to do with power than entertainment. As if that weren’t enough to deal with, Chu also has to worry about “Ms. Pang,” who may or may not be an agent of the People’s Republic of China, and his angry ex-girlfriend, Darla Jean Covington, who isn’t the type to let an international intrigue get in the way of her own plans for revenge. What begins as a whirlwind online adventure soon spills over into the real world. Now Chu must use every trick and resource at his disposal to stay one step ahead—because in real life, there is no reset button.
Chance of a Lifetime by Jude Deveraux, Tara Sheets

She’s a cop and has a confidence and independence he wasn’t expecting. She doesn’t remember Liam or their past lives, nor is she impressed with his attempts to guide her in any way. Shakespeare for Squirrels by Christopher Moore
Shakespeare meets Dashiell Hammett in this wildly entertaining murder mystery from New York Times bestselling author Christopher Moore—an uproarious, hardboiled take on the Bard’s most performed play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, featuring Pocket, the hero of Fool and The Serpent of Venice, along with his sidekick, Drool, and pet monkey, Jeff. Set adrift by his pirate crew, Pocket of Dog Snogging—last seen in The Serpent of Venice—washes up on the sun-bleached shores of Greece, where he hopes to dazzle the Duke with his comedic brilliance and become his trusted fool. But the island is in turmoil. Egeus, the Duke’s minister, is furious that his daughter Hermia is determined to marry Demetrius, instead of Lysander, the man he has chosen for her. The Duke decrees that if, by the time of the wedding, Hermia still refuses to marry Lysander, she shall be executed . . . or consigned to a nunnery. Pocket, being Pocket, cannot help but point out that this decree is complete bollocks, and that the Duke is an egregious weasel for having even suggested it. Irritated by the fool’s impudence, the Duke orders his death. With the Duke’s guards in pursuit, Pocket makes a daring escape. He soon stumbles into the wooded realm of the fairy king Oberon, who, as luck would have it, IS short a fool. His jester Robin Goodfellow—the mischievous sprite better known as Puck—was found dead. Murdered. Oberon makes Pocket an offer he can’t refuse: he will make Pocket his fool and have his death sentence lifted if Pocket finds out who killed Robin Goodfellow. But as anyone who is even vaguely aware of the Bard’s most performed play ever will know, nearly every character has a motive for wanting the mischievous sprite dead. With too many suspects and too little time, Pocket must work his own kind of magic to find the truth, save his neck, and ensure that all ends well.

film and tv recommendations
ok hey all, as you should already know it’s pride month so here’s some fitting film and tv recommendations (these are just my personal opinions so don’t come at me):
• Handsome Devil: OK Irish cinema is so underrated, this film was so gorgeous, the friendship in it is just perfect and plus the soundtrack is bomb. It’s probably my favourite film at the moment
• call me by your name: alright so a pretty obvious one but it’s such a beautiful film and the whole story is just so perfect
• Love, Simon: another obvious one, can’t say it’s my favourite film but it was still cute and I’d still recommend. I know of tons of other people who found it super relatable, just wasn’t quite so much for me
• Maurice: such a good film and 100% underrated, also who doesn’t love a good 80s film
• Imitation game: alright I know it wasn’t completely accurate but it was still a really heart wrenching, beautiful film and there’s still a lot to be learnt about Alan Turing and the history of computers
• 4th man out: this one is super modern and relevant and really tries to dismantle stereotypes, also it’s pretty light and easy to watch
• will and grace: ok you really didn’t expect me to leave this off did you? It’s a classic and still relevant to today’s issues, need I say more?
• Pride: you really cannot go wrong with British cinema, super lighthearted and funny but still tackled some really big issues and teaches you a lot about lgbt history
• Brokeback mountain: in all honesty this is actually such a good film, but definitely really sad too
• Riot: it’s Australian but it’s good??? an awesome history lesson and just a really good film all round
• Holding the man: um another Australian one? I think I may be sick, but seriously it’s really sad and beautiful so go support the Aussie industry, even if it’s only this once
• the Danish girl: ok so I know this one got a lot of backlash but personally I saw no problem with Eddie redmayne in the role, I think he played it with dignity and respect and it was a really good film
• Wilde: alright last one I’m going to talk about. It’s a biopic about Oscar Wilde. If that doesn’t convince you it’s got Stephen Fry and Jude Law, two absolutely fantastic actors. idk what to say if you’re still not convinced but it’s an amazing film and another one that’s totally underrated.
** new addition- Alex Strangelove: cute. defs got some problematic characters but their actions are not being endorsed, they’re obviously ignorant and it doesn’t reflect the film as a whole. + it’s got a real mixed bag of pop culture references and minimal stereotypes
that’s defs not all so please add more!! in the mean time here were a couple of honourable mentions •another country •the real o'neals •worried about the boy •the kids are alright •shelter •breakfast with scot •peter’s friends also if anyone has any questions about the films or where to find them just shoot me a message, I’d love to talk about any one of them

Glenn Jacobs, the former WWE superstar known as Kane, appeared to have won a mayoral primary race in Tennessee on Tuesday. Jacobs, 51, was leading Brad Anders by 17 votes in the bid to represent the Republican Party in the race for Knox County mayor, Knox News reported. Jacobs was leading 14,633 to 14,616 with 100 percent of the precincts reporting. The former professional wrestler declared victory in a tweet thanking everyone who helped his campaign win the Republican primary. “Thanks to everyone who helped win this historic victory!! The people who cast a ballot for me, my great team, my wonderful volunteers,” he wrote. “Looking forward to VICTORY in the general election!” Jacobs’ campaign is a far cry from his WWE days wrestling under the moniker Kane – “a monstrous abomination that seems to have been extracted directly from your childhood nightmares,” according his WWE bio. The former champ is running on keeping taxes low, focusing on quality education, job creation, improved infrastructure and limited government. Jacobs is hardly the first WWE superstar to take a run in politics. Jesse Ventura served as the governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003. Former ECW competitor Terrance Gerin, known commonly as Rhyno, ran for the Michigan House of Representatives in 2016 as a Republican, but lost in the general election by more than 8,000 votes, according to WXYZ-TV. It appears Jacobs will be battling Democrat Linda Haney in the mayoral race, according to Knox News. The county’s general election is set for Aug. 2. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/former-wwe-superstar-appears-to-wrestle-away-gop-nomination-in-tennessee-mayoral-race/ar-AAwD6h8

"Well can you blame me, Damien? I haven't humiliated you in ages." Jude couldn't help but to tease, shooting the other a wink as he leaned against the bar besides him. He took his time sipping at his champagne, surprised to see his ex drinking so quick. "On edge there, eh?" he offered a small nod to the glass before grinning at him. "Because I don't think the alcohol will really help with the bambi rumors." he teased back as he set his drinks down. "I'm starting to think our friend invited us both to try and get some chemistry here. I vote we dance and then have a shouting match to make them regret betting on whether or not we'd be getting together tonight."

Estrenos de series
Prime Suspect: 1973 (ITV)
Time After Time (ABC)
Participan también Jennifer Ferrin (The Knick, Hell on Wheels), Nicole Ari Parker (Revolution, Rosewood), Will Chase (Nashville), Génesis Rodríguez (Identity Thief, Entourage) y Jordin Sparks (American Idol). Creada por Kevin Williamson (The Following).
A favor: ¿Intriga y sex symbols?
youtube
Clique (BBC Three)
Completan el cast Emun Elliott (Game of Thrones, Prometheus), Rachel Hurd-Wood (Peter Pan, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer), Sophia Brown (Guerrilla), Ella Rae-Smith, Emma Appleton, Mark Strepan (New Blood), Sorcha Groundsell, Peter Bankole, Chris Fulton y Harris Dickinson. Escrita por Jess Brittain (Skins), Kirstie Swain y Milly Thomas. Seis episodios.
Protagonizan Philip Winchester (Strike Back, The Player), Joelle Carter (Justified, Scandal), Nazneen Contractor (Heroes Reborn, Star Trek Into Darkness), Monica Barbaro (UnREAL), Carl Weathers (Rocky) y Jon Seda (en el mismo papel de Chicago PD). Trece episodios.
Les acompañan John Gemberling (Broad City), Neil Casey (Inside Amy Schumer), Ben Vereen (How I Met Your Mother) y Natalie Morales (The Grinder, Trophy Wife). Creada por Julius "Goldy" Sharpe. Nueve episodios.
youtube
Feud: Bette and Joan (FX)

youtube

Completan el reparto Jayma Mays (Glee), Sherri Shepherd (30 Rock), Krysta Rodriguez (Smash, Chasing Life) y Steven Boyer. Trece episodios.

Phoebe Dynevor (Dickensian, The Village), Juliet Aubrey (The White Queen), Dougray Scott (Hemlock Grove) y Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) les acompañan. Creada y escrita por Alex De Rakoff (The Calcium Kid, Dead Man Running) y dirigida por Nick Renton (The Musketeers). Diez episodios.

youtube
Iron Fist (Netflix)
Tras Daredevil, Jessica Jones y Luke Cage, conocemos a Danny Rand, un multimillonario que regresa a Nueva York tras pasar años perdido y dado por muerto y descubre que el despiadado Harold Meachum (David Wenham; Top of the Lake, The Lord of the Rings), padre de sus amigos de la infancia Joy (Jessica Stroup; The Following, 90210) y Ward Meachum (Tom Pelphrey, Banshee), dirige la empresa de su familia. Carrie-Anne Moss como Jeri Hogarth, Rosario Dawson como Claire Temple y Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones) también participan. Estreno: 17 de marzo

Nueve episodios.
JUDE OFORI, 51, PEDIATRIC SURGEON, IDRIS ELBA, TAGS.
BASICS
NAME:  Jude Christopher Ofori DATE OF BIRTH (& AGE):  February 28th. 51. PLACE OF BIRTH: Lower East Side, Manhattan, New York. GENDER AND PRONOUNS:  Cismale. He/him.
BACKGROUND
Jude was raised by a cold lawyer and a distant art dealer. Usually people had trouble guessing which of his parents had what career. He didn't grow up in a house full of love or warmth, but his parents made sure he would be as well rounded as humanly possible. There was a strict focus on academia, which he became thankful for once college rolled around. He had done well enough in school to be accepted to multiple schools. All he had left to do was decide what he wanted to be. His family all did their best to steer him one way or another, but he ended up surprising everyone once he went down the medical path. After a few years of struggling through school and residency Jude became a pediatric surgeon. Much like his parents he put all of his focus into work. He struggled with most relationships both platonic and romantic because he failed to separate work life and a real life. Then again he had never really wanted anything steady to begin with. He enjoyed one night stands, and avoiding commitment at all costs, even if it meant he'd be a 54 year old spinster. Once someone does make it past his defenses, Jude is a self conscious man, someone who struggles with self image and craves more than anything just to be wanted, to be loved.

Jude had always hated waking up with someone in the morning. He was a man with a ritual and he never wanted it to be interrupted.  He would wake up in the early morning, having a dark coffee, eat some eggs and go about his working day. Beryl had been extra amazing at ruining his lonely mornings for him.
He wouldn’t admit to it, but he always looked forward to their sleepovers. The sex itself was great, however, he found himself loving the mornings together even more. Plus, he was only mistaken for her father about half the time they went to restaurants for breakfast.  He counted that as a win.  “No you are not going to wake me up by offering sex, Beryl.” he complained, laying a hand over his eyes. “Not even food could wake me up, it’s a Sunday, it’s my day off.”  he continued though there was a smirk spread across his lips.

“That’s not fair, Miri. You’re not allowed to just make me laugh, I’m a very serious man.” The Welsh doctor said, even wiggling his brows at her. It was true, when he wasn’t in her presence he was sort of an asshole.  He wasn’t sure if it was the pot or her smile that broke his shell, but he rather enjoyed it.  He sat slouched back on her couch, his bow tie still done up from a long day of work.
He wasn’t entirely sure what was going on between him and the much younger woman, but he more than enjoyed spending time with her. She had become great at keeping him from overworking or draining himself too much. He took another hit from her bow, feeling like a University student again.  He handed the glass piece back to her after a moment, still holding the smoke in.  However as she made another joke, he coughed it out and grinned to her. “You know what we absolutely must do? We have to play strip poker sometime. It’d be hilarious.”

It was usually pretty hard to get Jude out for fun. After weeks of beating him down however, some of his work pals convinced him to go on a pub crawl. After giving up and buying the first costume he saw at the store and headed out. It must have been the third bar they had straggled into when he saw a very familiar body covered in leather.  He hung back, chuckling a he watched some beautiful boy try to flirt with her.
Beryl was interesting to watch. The way she tried to push off the guy, or ignore him. Once the other began pushing a little too hard however, Jude snuck in. “Well hello Selena Kyle.”  he greeted, lazily wrapping an arm around her waist. “Come to repent?” he asked, tilting his head back and chuckling some.  Perhaps dressing as a priest wasn’t the most original idea, but he thought it was scary enough for the season.

227's™ Facebook Fries!¡' (aka YouTube Chili' NBA) #Nike'Spicy'Tunes Chili's Trending News! Harold Chili' Bornstein: Spicy' Exiled from Chili' Trumpland, former doctor'liciously' now ‘frightened and sad’ #Walmart'Spicy'Tunes #Nike'Spicy'Tunes Spicy'
They came knocking because of loose talk about the president’s hair. On Feb. 3, 2017, Donald Trump’s longtime bodyguard, a Trump Organization lawyer and a third man allegedly pushed into the Park Avenue offices of Harold Bornstein, according to an account Trump’s former physician gave NBC News on Tuesday. Subscribe to the Post Most newsletter: Today’s most popular stories on The Washington Post Just days before the visit, Bornstein, an Italian-speaking gastroenterologist with his own shoulder-length locks and funky eyewear, had spilled to the New York Times about his most famous patient. Bornstein slipped to the Times that Trump took Propecia, a medication that stimulates hair growth. Bornstein confided to the paper he, too, took the drug. “He has all his hair,” the doctor told the Times. “I have all my hair.” Two days later, the men from Trump — including security head Keith Schiller and attorney Alan Garten — arrived to reclaim all the files Bornstein had on the president. According to the doctor, they spent 25 to 30 minutes hoovering up the original copies of Trump’s medical records — retaliation, he intimated this week, for speaking to the press. “It created a lot of chaos,” Bornstein told the network. “I feel raped — that’s how I feel,” the doctor dramatically said. “Raped, frightened, and sad. I couldn’t believe anybody was making a big deal out of a drug to grow his hair that seemed to be so important. And it certainly is not a breach of medical trust to tell somebody they take Propecia to grow their hair. What’s the matter with that?” Trump’s New York inner circle often seems stocked with blaring characters tuned to the president’s own unique frequencies. There was Sam Nunberg, a fast-gabbing political operative. Omarosa Manigault Newman, a merciless reality television contestant. Michael Cohen, the tough-guy lawyer. Unbending loyalty knit them all to the man whose name was plastered on the building. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/harold-bornstein-exiled-from-trumpland-doctor-now-%E2%80%98frightened-and-sad%E2%80%99/ar-AAwD8tQ
